You look fantastic Lisa!! BEE-U-TEE-FUL! I hope you feel as good as you look.

I am going in search of Spry gum today. I have never looked for it before. Is it available most places?

Good morning everyone. Weighed in this morning. I am down 6 lbs for the week and a total of 42 in six weeks.

I started back running last week. Has anyone tried the Couch to 5K program? I've been doing it about 3 years. Have started and stopped numerous times. Last year, I ran about 5 5k races. I enjoyed them a lot. I could not get myself motivated to do any this year with everything that had went on in life. Anyway, I started back last week and wow, what a difference. I felt like I was moving faster and was not nearly huffing and puffing like I had before.

Have a busy couple of weeks coming up. This week I have a baby shower to cake to make for my cousin and his wife. Anyone seen those baby butt or baby rump cakes? I am going to do one like that in a Halloween them. Yeah, I've never heard of a Halloween themed baby shower, but hey what do I know? I just make the cakes.

I am also planning my mother a 75th Birthday party the first weekend in November. Plans are coming along fine, but it's a lot of work. Be glad when it's done.

Everyone have a good week!

Princess, I too did a @Lisa double take and Lisa, you look beautiful; what a great picture. A high five and congratulations for all of the hard work and dedication has paid off. An inspiration to all of us newbies; you look stunning!

Princess Peacock - I found Spry gum at a local health food store. It was $0.99 for a pack and the taste lasts exactly 30 seconds. Haha. But, you gotta try it you may like it. Let me know what you think.

Hi Allend - congrats on the 6lb loss that's incredible; way to go!

I've heard of the app couch to 5k but I never checked it out; sounds like you really like it? That's great :D

A Halloween themed baby shower sounds like fun though, that's the first I've heard of, as well. Kudos for you for being able to make cakes and not indulge in the batter. That would be too tempting for me. You'll have to take a picture and share once it's frosted. Would love to see it.

A Happy [early] Birthday to your Mom!

Have an excellent day All :sunny:

Hi everyone, I am back in action! In Sept. I have emergency GI surgery and my doctor yanked me from IP (I had to eat toast, rice, and soft easy to digest foods, very little protein or veggies). It has been a crappy month waiting to get back on protocol (thinking of all of the weight I could have been losing) the upside is I gained zero weight, last week was my first week back on (and not an easy one) but I am glad to say I am definitely back in ketosis and today was just like before- a day where I saw the lowest number in a long time on the scale! My official weigh in is tomorrow (but due to clothes and stuff its always more than my home one), but I am so excited! I only update my ticker with the offical IP weigh in, but my scale today said 185.2! Once I am at 182 I have hit my first mini goal! Feeling great today :)

My feeling this morning, thanks to Marcus Aurelius....

"When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love."

That is my thought as I have been going on this program - I want to wake up every morning thinking that way. When I was not eating well on IP, I woke up grumpy and angry that the world was not mine. Now it is and I enjoy every single day as I get healthier and healthier....not to mention skinnier since I hit -40 pounds today.

That just mirrors the successes already posted today, too many to mention. LISA you look soooooo wonderful with nice curves and trim lines. WOW!

lilkel - hang in there because once you are back in the swing of things you will fall into such an easy pattern of success. Glad to hear you are better.

Allend - what a great accomplishment. You must be walking on little happy feet today.

Lisa, you look absolutely stunning!

Lilkel, welcome back. Sounds like you have a great restart going.

Princess, I have also found SPRY at my local health food store. I actually chew Trident cinnamon. It seems to last a while, and no aspartame.

Allend, I have seen so many crazy themed baby showers. You should have fun getting creative with the theme. Congrats on your 6 lbs lost and 42 overall! In six weeks no less! Wow!

Hi everyone.
I'm feeling a little discouraged today even though logically I know I should be. I started ip two weeks ago today and I've seen my weight go down every day, even if its just a couple of ounces. Today for the first time I didn't see any movement on the scale and it got me a little down. Any words of wisdom for this newbie? Thanks in advance.

My advice is to not weigh everyday. I used to do that and it would get me down because a lot happens between your clinic weigh ins! I have found that I'm much happier without my scale and only using my clinic's scale! There are many many ladies on here who choose to weight everyday (sometimes multiple times a day) but you must not take that weight very seriously because of how much we fluctuate so much during the day. I can feel the weight coming off and that is enough satisfaction for me!

Good Luck in your journey!

I happen to be one of those people who cannot take advice and cannot stay off the scale each morning.

That being said, wantanewme, if you are like me, then you need to remind yourself that the weight this morning does NOT correlate directly with what you ate yesterday. It is not a logical, predictable pattern due to hormones, fluid retention, salt, water intake and probably the phase of the moon!

So just hang in there, be patient and understanding of the unpredictable nature of weight loss. What IS important is that you are on the program, following it because then you are losing inches even if the weight that day does not reflect it.

Many of us have been through 'stalls' in weight and it can be very frustrating. If you must weigh every day, like me, then remind yourself that this is not a linear process and eating right, being healthy are the goals and the weight in pounds is just a general indication of that.

Good morning. Good morning! Just a quick check-in before I start my morning. I actually read through posts on my bus ride to work so that I could get in, make some comments and get crackin'!

Has anyone experienced more headaches as they neared goal? I previously (pre-IP) had them all the time but since starting IP I have only had 2 or 3. But lately I have been having more. I suspect it is one part hormonal, one part water needs and ... well, the other part is probably the damn stress. I tell you what, I cannot wait to be 6 p.m. PST on 10/22! Done with this examination and back to a normal life. Granted, my days will still be busy with work, but there are so many deadlines and stressors this month. But about the headaches, curious if there is something else I should be looking at.

... and, in a moment of madness yesterday, I started considering buying a bikini for my trip to St. Maarten in April with my boyfriend's family. Yeah. I was just flirting with the idea but perhaps it would serve as a motivating factor for toning up my tummy.

Weighed in this morning. I am down 6 lbs for the week and a total of 42 in six weeks. ***

Awesome job on starting to run again. As for the C25k program, there is a thread on 3FC/IP about it somewhere. I used it when I started running many moons ago and will likely begin using it again in November when I start running again. I signed up for my 1st 5k in February and am superexcited. I also spent a little time checking out the 1/2 marathons that I want to do next fall. Definitely looking forward to getting back into running and triathlon. I am reading a book on low-carb fueling of the body for sustained exercise and hope to have that finished by 11/1 so that I can begin to discuss and implement with either my IP coach or find another low-carb coach to start working with on nutrition after IP.

My feeling this morning, thanks to Marcus Aurelius....

Lisa - You look fantastic!!!

Good Monday morning all! It's Thanksgiving Monday here in Canada but we had our dinner yesterday. It went really well - I had turkey, mashed cauliflower and coleslaw made with an oil and vinegar dressing, yummy! It's funny though - I made a bigger batch of mashed cauliflower in case others wanted to try it (made a big pot of mashed potatoes for everyone else) and everyone loved the mashed cauliflower, lol! Had none left - might have to make that a regular item.

I made the pumpkin meringue without the crust for dessert and it was yummy - didn't feel like I was missing out when others were having pumpkin pie.

Anyway, one major holiday on IP done and it wasn't that hard.

Have to clean up the rest of the turkey and make some stock for soup, yum!

Grr so mad I forgot to weigh myself this AM! but in other good news i finally ordered some oatmeal!! Cause i really am getting tired of downing those EAS shakes .. and I don't think they'd taste any better if I blended them which is why I haven't .. Also - i went to church wearing one of my go-to dresses and it was totally too big! I can still continue to wear it for a little while longer until it becomes more noticible, but I've been getting a lot of "Are you losing weight" "you look good" - oh and I got to use the line someone on here said they tell people - "laxatives and cocaine" :)

Okay, here's the deal.
You have to decide if you can logically handle daily weighing. If it stresses you out then, no, you can't.
Weight loss isn't linear. You won't see scale movement daily. It doesn't work that way. It may even fluctuate UP. Imagine weight loss as the roller coaster ride that it is! But if you can view it neutrally, perhaps even graph it, you will see a downward trend line & your data points will cluster around the line...but they will rarely be ON the line.

My wii fit graphs my weight loss and it is really fun to look at it over time...

Lucky you that you've seen scale movement downward every day so far. Even a WEEKLY WI might be nonexistent at some point. Again, these are just data points on an overall trend. Weight loss is the BIG PICTURE, not the daily or weekly weigh-in events.

10-14-2013, 02:52 PM
I agree with Lisa! I actually have started using My Fitness Pal (not to count calories because I'm don't really need to right now) but you can 'weigh in' on it and it gives you your weight loss in a graph as well! Lots of options to keep you motivated!

AND I am hunting down some fincial help for my parents who need so much help to get things re built since the insurance company showed them the bird so to speak. I am waiting for a call back from one person on this and hopefully (full prayers are needed on this ) he can help!

sarahBell - I am NOT an expert on the various horrible things with which your parents are dealing, but I will ask this question anyway. Have you gone onto the Internet to places like Kelley Blue Book to calculate what you feel your Dad's truck might be worth? If you hit several of those sites and they DO reflect a higher value, you could challenge the insurance company - ask them what they based their offer on.

I mention this only because when our son had some medical issues for which the state insurance company was responsible, we manager to get $3000 more than they had originally offered. They start low and see who will jump for it. Worth a try?

Happy (I use this term loosely) Monday, everyone! Oh, why do weekends have to fly by!

So proud of the successes in this group! Congrats on everyone's losses and NSV's. Here's to a successful week!

One big NSV for me is finding new veggies that I enjoy. Bok choy- who knew? And mashed cauliflower looks totally unappetizing, but YUMMM!

I decided to start a little exercise yesterday and want to stick with a workout a few days a week, just toning type stuff. After all, I want to be toned when I am skinny!

Happy week, all!!!

Great dress (and figure) Lisa! Congrats!
Bikini thoughts Sarita...that's awesome.

Congrats on all the NSVs and SVs all.

I am happy - Handled my work meeting today even though they served yummy Cosi sandwiches. I had an IP bar before walking in and brought a big Baggie of veggies. Maybe someone thought it was weird but no one said so. I munched away, somewhat envious of the Cosi bread, but not hungry.

I'm not one of those people who thinks nothing tastes as good as thin feels - I can think of plenty of things (ha ha) - but, I am learning about choices (for life after phase 1). I don't have to have it all, all the time. Every meeting/trip/bad day/celebration/u-name-it isn't a 'reason' to overindulge. It IS possible to choose not to overindulge. I know now that I had to be ready to hear this message. I wasn't for a long while. I'm hoping that this time I not only hear it, but take it on as a way of life.

Baby steps! Yay IP!

PS also wanted to say that I am sending good thoughts your way SarahBell. This situation must be so hard. Hoping you all can turn the corner soon.

Hello everyone, I was on IP in January 2010 and lost 30 pounds. I have gained 12 pounds back which really isn't too back considering this is 2013. I am going to post here since I feel I am starting over not just a reboot. IP works and I feel so much better when I follow the diet. We can do this. My motto from previous post: Nothing taste as good as skinny feels. My clothes are starting to get a little tight and I am not even going to buy a bigger size I am going to get back into my clothes.

So many great and inspiring posts today. Love it!

I've officially decided that I cannot bring myself to eat 8 full ounces of chicken in one sitting, no matter how it is cooked. It makes me uncomfortably full. Interestingly, no other protein does this to me. Anyone else have this problem?

My NSV for today is that tomorrow will be 28 days since my last glass of wine. This is a huge success for me and I'm pretty darn proud.

Just wondering is it normal to feel you didn't do your best each day? I have been 100% since I started on the 9th, but somehow feel like I've cheated. I'm only eating my 3 packets of IP and my allotted vegetables. I haven't been terribly hungry, but still obsess over food (when is my next meal? what will I eat next?, etc.). Any suggestions?

Hello all! Well it has been a challenging couple of days, lots of unexpected cooking away from home and running around. Had to make more compromises than I wanted but I managed to stay very very close to plan. I also made some great soup, similar to the golden goddess soup...but with Indian spices, super yummy. So I am taking the good with the bad.

That comes and goes for me. I've had those days where I'm 100% (as always) and I feel like I've overeaten/cheated. It's not a physical feeling; definitely mental. I don't know where that comes from but it's weird! I'm at a place right now where I feel pretty good...no obsessions at all. So I guess what I can tell you after 134 days on this plan is that yes, it's normal, and try not to stress about it because it'll ease up for you. Oh, you're eating the supper protein, oil, and salt, yes? Just checking as you didn't mention it.
