Haven't posted lately because life has been crazy. I am still 100% OP, but that would not be possible had I not planned ahead.
Last week, I cooked all weekend. One day I cooked several meats for the freezer, and another day I cooked several big batches of different veggies.
With our crazy week, having things precooked was a lifesaver! I cannot imagine how stressful things would have been, had I not had IP protocol meals ready to come home to.
Starting my morning with coffee w/splenda and 1 tbsp skim milk - having breakfast in an hour (another cup of coffee, cold, with a chocolate EAS shake and ice in the blender).
I am not an organized person, so forcing myself to plan ahead has helped me stay on plan. Now, if I could only learn to plan ahead and organize the rest of my life......

Sonolady - may I ask how log did it take you to loose your weight? I have the same stat and goal as you are. Please share if you can.

I started June 25th. The scale has not been moving as fast I would like, and I haven't lost inches in a big way. There were weeks that the scale or tape measure didnt move, frustrating for me, but compared to some others it was for a few weeks only and then seemed like I would drop 2 lbs. The last time I had a weigh in after 2 weeks with no loss it was a 2lb loss and the tape move 1/4 inch off my hips and 1/4 in off the chest. The waist hasnt moved in 6 weeks.

2lbs from goal and P2, my ultimate goal is to stay between 125 and 130, so I am there now, but I've learned here that you gain a bit in P3 so I want to lose a couple more to stay in my goal range. I am doing all the research now with help from 3FC and everyone here.

Sonolady - thank you for your reply. I anticipate the same struggle. People have quicker progress when there are pounds to loose. I'm hoping this program will re-wire my brain - portion sizes, no sweets. Im trying not to eat restricted, because I don't want to think its OK to eat waffles or chips or cookies. I dont want to have them after this program, so I shouldn't have them now. Its not easy by any means.

I am a vegetarian for 37 yrs, eat healthy foods, whole grains really no junk. Martinis on the Sat night, nachos, pizza and pasta were my down falls as well as being very happy in a new relationship for 12 yrs. So the weight crept on and I couldnt get if off no matter what I did. For me I believe it was eliminating carbs and IP and the crew here taught me how to do it so it works! I know I cant go back to what I was doing, its a life style change

Good morning!

Restful weekend planned, so I think I'm going to spend some time cooking and preparing for the week ahead. There's a chocolate waffle recipe that I want to try out. Also bought the IP double chocolate brownie, so I want to try that out for the first time.

Have a great fall weekend!

Good morning, week 1 is over and down 6lbs :carrot: quite amazing. But hard work too. Woke up a little light headed this morning, not sure why. A little tired of the soups with 2c veggies at noon and it's only been one week:dizzy:, any suggestions? I'm excited too, already see a difference in my body :cheer3:. I know it won't be like this every week, but I'll sure take it this week. Good luck and eat healthy to everyone. LittleStar, I liked the chocolate brownie, hope you do as well:smug:

:bravo: Congrats on the week 1 success!!

I love having the rotini for lunch, either hot with tomato, pepper, mushroom sauce (microwaves well at work) or cold with any combo of veggies and dressing.

Have you tried the zucchini muffins with pudding? I just made the pumpkin spice ones and they are really easy to bring to work. Make a double batch and you are set for a couple of days. The recipes and reviews are on my blog, if you want to have a look.

Lots of times I'll have a Ready to eat pudding or shake and cut up vegetables on my desk that I eat throughout the day. I've got some plastic containers that fit 2 cups of veggies, so I fill one of those up in the morning and know that I can finish it easily throughout the day.

Good luck, you're doing great!

Little Star, ha, this is too funny. I actually didn't think about eating the veggies RAW :D. Have been cooking them every day. Will definitely do that. Also, I did read your muffin recipe, so I will definitely try that. So are you saying a muffin would count for my 2 veggies at a meal? Thanks so much.

Good morning, all! Day #5 for me. Woke up hungry, so I decided to try the "fine herb and cheese" (what makes the herbs FINE, I wonder?? Are they unusually good looking? Or extra special? Lol) omelet. It's....ok. To be honest, I have never in my 40 years cooked an omelet. I've cooked lots of eggs, but have just never bothered to make an omelet. I figured I could do it, because I've watched lots of other people make them. As usual, WATCHING does not necessarily equal an ability to DO. So, I don't know if the omelet is just not that great, or if I just over-cooked it. I think the next time I try one I will add in some spinach and tomatoes or something. I'm thinking that would give it a little more moisture. I will also look up how long to cook them. ;)

Anyway, I have a question.....is there a general rule of thumb that we should eat every so often? I've read several times on this forum about people not going longer than 3-4 hours without eating something. My coach didn't mention anything about this, but I know how inconsistent coaching can be. Is it a protein that we need to make sure we don't go too long in between? Or is this just what works best for some people and is not necessarily a general guideline? I ask, because that time frame between lunch and supper can get kind of long some days, and I wondered if I need to make sure to eat my third packet then... or if it's ok to wait till after supper for an evening snack?

I hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and OP day!

The muffins have 1cup of zucchini so you would still need one more cup. But you could eat them raw ;) or add a cup of spinach to your shake in the morning.

I love IP its the first time in my life that I do not have those cravings anymore this is my 9th week and I'm down 33 lbs and going strong. Average 3 lbs a week!!

Haha! That made me laugh. I will never think of fine herbs the same way! :D

As for timing of meals, I have heard many different things on the forum and from coaches. I will let someone else with more knowledge answer. For me, I've been listening to my body. Some days, I'm really hungry between lunch and dinner, so I'll eat or drink something. I could be one strawberry wafer, saving the other one for after dinner (when I get the munchies). Some days I also snack on my veggies throughout the day. It really depends on what's happening. Some days, I've had most of my 4 cups of veggies by dinner, and then have a large salad with my dinner protein. Other times, I split my protein between lunch and dinner. None of this seems to have affected my losses.

Having said that, how long between lunch and dinner?

Good morning! Weigh-in #7 is now in the books. Thankfully the scale cooperated. It seems I have a pattern - one week is low, next week is more, then back to low again. I'm just grateful it is all moving in the down direction. Woo Hoo.

My clinic has one of the fancy biometric scales - you hold hand grips and stand on a special pad. So every week, I get a printout of water/lean mass/fat weight. Over 22 lbs of fat lost so far. That seems both gross and awesome!

I've started doing a little more walking exercise now so we have talked about adding an extra packet or half packet on those days. I've been feeling a little more hungry on walk days. It is kind of scary to consider "adding" but I will trust the plan.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Think I'm going to try to see Mr Clooney... Sadly only at the theatre on the big screen.

Melissa K, I'm with you, I thought the omelet was possibly a little over cooked. I think I made it more like scrambled eggs, but will try to cook a little less next time. I liked mine with asparagus and mushrooms in it. Spinach would be great too I'm sure. Sometimes I eat half a snack in the afternoon and half after dinner. I like the "Raspberry Jelly" from IP, although I know some people don't like it. I also like the Cheddar Cheese chips or the choc pudding, all things I can eat half of. But I'm a newbie so others may have more suggestions. Not sure about the hrs between eating. I don't often get hungry between meals...yet. Just on IP for a week. :smug:

Sure hope you don't just let this slide. Tell them in no uncertain terms that if they really want to support you, they will NOT tempt you with "just one taste". I've seen so many times here - would the family of an alcoholic offer them "just one sip"?? They may not realize how serious this is for you, so you need to tell them. And if 'not usually a sweets person' - why suddenly the tempting ice cream in the freezer? I'd say a nice talk is in order :)

Great discussions this morning!

I did read your muffin recipe, so I will definitely try that. So are you saying a muffin would count for my 2 veggies at a meal? Thanks so much.
Glad you liked the muffin recipe.
Originally I adapted it from someone else a year ago. I don't think it officially "belongs" to anyone :)
1 c of zucchini in the muffin. I usually add some marinated cucumber salad on the side for my 2nd cup at lunch (I use potato puree to make my savory muffins -preferring savory to sweet).

Speaking of husbands, I just opened the freezer to get my ice to fill my water bottle and had to laugh. There are 4 boxes of multiple ice cream bars and two kinds of ice cream. He's not usually a sweets person but seems to be lately ;)

I think you need to tell them how this makes you feel.
Just one of those "hey you guys, whats with all the ice cream all of a sudden? Are you trying to GAIN all the weight I'm losing?"

And before they cook next, remind them you will not be tasting and offers feel like sabatage.

They probably just don't want you to feel excluded and don't realize what it feels like on the other end (and that you'd RATHER be excluded)!

LOL @ the FEC omelet description!!! ROFLMAO
So, fake eggs are gross. Pure and simple. I don't buy omelet packs anymore. 1 whole egg + 3 egg whites = 1 omelet packet (shhhh....don't tell your coach) and it is REAL food!!! And actually, calorie-wise, 2 whole eggs = a FEC packet (fat is a little higher in the eggs).
When I did buy them, I ALWAYS added veggies: mushrooms, bell peppers, onion & a dab of salsa on top.
Oh yes...cook those omelet packets SLOWLY or they really dry out.

Some coaches say go no more than 4 hours without eating, others don't. My day works out in the 4-5 hour range. Remember, we are burning fat. It is okay to be a little hungry. We won't starve. What is more important is to NOT just eat veggies alone, which can increase blood sugar faster than eating with protein. The insulin spike is NOT what we want.

Have your third packet when it works in your day. If I'm having a late dinner, my 3rd packet is an afternoon snack. If early dinner, 3rd packet is around 8 pm.

Ohhhh:^:sorry everyone, I just found the answer to my question about using quotes...sorry:headache:

Lisa32989 -- you have so much excellent knowledge and information!!! Your posts encourage and inspire me!

I wonder if I can pick your brain and everyone elses on my alternative IP. I did do the actual IP program 3 years ago, however, its a little cost prohibitive right now, so this is my menu:

Breakfast - 3 egg white + 1 whole egg
Lunch - usually 2 cups cucumbers with sea salt and pepper and vinegar and premier protein shake (Costco)
Snack - premier protein shake
Dinner - 5 oz meat + 2 cups of veggies (broc, zucchini, califlower, asparagus, etc)
Snack - quest bar

I have lost 18 pounds in 2 weeks, so hoping things are going the right way, also I check my ketosis every morning and all good there. I also drink 4.5 litres of water a day.

Thanks for your help everyone. I couldn't get thru it without you all!

Good morning IP world. It's a chilly Saturday, perfect for hanging out in my house and doing a little cleaning. We are out for dinner tonight with friends. I can't wait for my steak, salad and veggie, without the oil and butter of course.

Gonna be a great day 2 of hitting goal and keeping it that way!!!:cp::lucky:

Amazing how a "happy attitude" takes over when it doesn't have to fight " being fat " for your attention!
It's great to have a new focus in life.

I decided I deserve a daily reward for my hard work. Not monetary, but physiological rewards and motivation....today's reward, putting on my old way too big jeans and looking at myself in the mirror. It will bring a huge smile to my face and that's my reward! Arrogant maybe, but in this case it's all about the new, improved me!

Have a good one:hug:

I also drink 4.5
IP P1 newest protocol says 8 oz meat with dinner (measured raw)
Is your Premier Protein shake an 18 g or 30g protein?
Only the 18 g ones would be comparable to IP products. The 30 g ones have about twice the protein (IP isn't a high protein diet. It is moderate protein).

And check the quest bar thread. Most will work for restricted but some flavors would be super-restricted (once/week)

If I were to substitute the 1 egg + 3 egg whites in place of an omelet packet, would I still count the "real" eggs as 1 of my packets for the day?
Yes. Equivalent to a packet in fat/carbs/cals.
Shhh...your coach won't like it. Takes $$$ from her pocket.

I am using alternative products, but I do various things for lunch that help change things up a bit. I use the liquid concentrate drinks and add them to my water when I go to a restaurant.

The restaurants vary, but for lunch I find that the Subway Chopped Veggie salad is great. I like to select spinach and iceberg with green and banana peppers, pickles, cucumbers and tomatoes. I make my own dressing; either grapeseed oil and apple cider vinegar, or Italian (you can google recipes for homemade I talian and sub items that aren't IP compliant). You can buy the small silicon travel dressing bottle and it is handy to take in with you. I love going to a Mongolian grill where you pick your own veggies and sauces (I use soy, ginger, and garlic). If it is "my own protein" meal, I will pick a meat or seafood to go with it.

If I am eating at my desk I will take a baggie with a mix of field greens to work (kale, spinach, Swiss chard, etc...) and drizzle my own dressing in the baggie. I eat it right out of the baggie. You can add any veggies you prefer to the salad, chopped peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, etc...I usually bring a big dill pickle as well and sometimes a hard boiled egg. For my packaged protein I will have variety of options: bbq soy puffs, white cheddar crisps, chili lime soy puffs, RTD drink, liquid concentrate flavored drink.....
Sometimes I use the puffs or crisps as croutons.

If you have the muffins, or any item made with veggies added, just count the amount of veggies towards your total needed. Also, count the protein packet you used as well.

Melissa: I have found I can go longer between meals than when I first started, but everyone is different. As someone else mentioned, listen to your body. If I start to feel weak or shaky and my next meal is a ways off, I will eat a bite of my snack, a hard boiled egg, have my protein drink, gnaw on some veggies; usually a dill pickle, etc... As you progress through this IP adventure you will understand signals your body is sending and anticipate what to do.

Vachinyc: Congrats to you on your losses!

Good morning ladies If you can call good,

lastnight I called my mom around 6:15pm to see what was new. She told me there were some really nasty storms down there and there was a tornado that hit emmerson, ne with multiple vortices.

We were heading to the football game so I let her go. Then after the national anthem I checked my phone to see if DH has called (he came back home to get a few things then come to the game) my sister called 5 times back to back.

I called her back my parents house, the neighbor up the road and at the end of the gravel road (they live in rural IA) was hit by a tornado!!! I wanted to throw up right then and there when my sis told me.

The house is gone, so are the neighbors. No fatalities or injuries. I am just sick to my stomach and I have no appetite to eat. I need to go there today just to be there even if I can help clean up I am just there for them!!!
My dad called at 8am asking if we were coming down.

I am just in tears, yes the house is going to be rebuilt BUT this just takes the cake in crap that can happen to people!

Hang in there doing so well. The holidays look to be a challenge for us all, whatever our motivation.

I have a question for anyone that can offer some insight. I have been on ideal protein since June. I am losing slowly but steadily, however I never register ketones on ketostrips. What am I doing wrong. Could it be the Splenda I use in coffee? It is the only thing I use that may have A trace of carb in it, it i can't believe such a small amount would prevent ketosis. Does release of ketones slow down after being on the diet awhile? Any insight on this topic would be much appreciated.

I once heard ketosis compared to pregnancy. Either you're in it or you aren't. You can't be a little bit pregnant, if you're in ketosis you're in it, doesn't matter the color on the strip.

Dad is getting a storage trailer Monday for what they have left and a Dozer to start pushing the trees down and debris into a pile. This is so heart breaking :(

Here's a quote from Scorbett about Ketostix:

Ketostix (urine tests) are essentially useless because 1) if you're drinking enough water the ketones will be diluted to the point where they barely register on the sticks and 2) after a few weeks your body gets more efficient at using ketones for energy so they will barely register.

So after yesterday's weight gain my doc switched me to a different magnesium, added herbal tea (for constipation) and increased my water intake.... I am already down 2.5 (from a 3.5 gain) in about 24 hours. However I can tell I am still retaining water... Anyone have any suggestions? I was wondering if there are any herbs that are good for water retention.

Zictory,

I use the ip tea. Not sure if it helps with water retention but it does seem to help overall.

I use one tea bag a day. Make it in a 2 litre thermos and drink it throughout the day with some stevia. On weekends or evenings -- when I have access to my freezer -- I also add some frozen ginger 'broth' cubes.

Thanks to all for your helpful replies! This board rocks!

Great discussions this morning!

If early dinner, 3rd packet is around 8 pm

Thanks, Lisa for your insight. It can't be said enough about how helpful and inspirational you are to us.

If I were to substitute the 1 egg + 3 egg whites in place of an omelet packet, would I still count the "real" eggs as 1 of my packets for the day?
I wondered this, too!

Yes. Equivalent to a packet in fat/carbs/cals.
Shhh...your coach won't like it. Takes $$$ from her pocket.
Thanks again. It'll be our little secret. :D

I LOVE Genghis Grill! (Don't know how widespread they are, but they are a mongolian stir-fry place. ) I hadn't thought about it much in regards to IP, because I'm intimidated by all the sauces and not knowing which ones are "safe" for IP. Are soy, ginger, and garlic all one sauce? Or a combination of different ones? Historically I've always used the ones that were terrbile for you....now I will go research which (if any there) are 100% legal. :)

Thanks so much, this helps greatly. I went to Trader Joes today and bought shredded cabbage and cut up broccoli then added WF 1000 Island to it and it was great. Had my Vanilla drink and was good to go. I like the "salad in a bag" idea, will try that. Hadn't thought about Mongolian G, we have one close by, that will be great. Went to the movie with my DH and didn't have a thing to eat except 1/2 my protein bar. He ate popcorn:(, but didn't actually bother me, I was interested in the movie. We saw Gravity and it was quite spectacular to see the views from "outer space".

And I am struggling like mad to stay as close as I can to the plan as possible but it is so hard, I don't even want to eat :(

Sarah Bell, I know your parents will be thankful to have you close by. It must be devastating to go thru something like that. My cousin in OK lost her roof in a tornado, I can't imagine losing your home and all your possessions. You are all in my prayers.

thanks for all the positive thoughts and prayers. My uncle sent a really choppy video- everything is gone :(

BUT mom, dad, nephews and pets are safe!

So glad everybody is safe. Give them lots of hugs. Lost my house in a flood two years ago, lots of love from many people got me through.

Sarahbell - what a scary event for your family to go through. I can only imagine how stressful it is when there is distance between you. Good luck tomorrow, it sounds like they live in a great community.

I have really enjoyed reading everyone's discussion, lots of great information and really positive. I'm having a great OP day. Went to the gym and then a friend and I took our kids for a 1.5 hour hike. Needless to say I was hungry when I came home and had half a pack.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

MelissaKate: I use the soy sauce, ginger broth, and garlic broth which are all separate items at most of the mongolian grill restaurants. We recently went to a Genghis Grill while in Scottsdale, and I just don't recall which sauces they had. When at home I use low sodium soy sauce, but most of the grills don't have that option. I am always leery of using the ginger or garlic if they are an oil. They are usually clearly marked though. Some of the places have a list of the ingredients in their sauces. There are times I have just had soy sauce, due to no other good options.

Not 2 old 4 skinny: DH and I also just went to a movie; The Family. DH ate a bucket of extra butter popcorn. I didn't have anything with me, so I just sipped my water. I really wanted that popcorn, but was happy I didn't indulge. When we got home I made a yummy dinner.

You might want to try sauteed cabbage, if you haven't yet. I cut mine in long shreds and saute it with some grapeseed oil. I sprinkle in some red pepper flakes and it gives it just a little bite. Very good as a warm lunch, but also as a side dish with your protein for dinner. I have even made a pulled pork recipe my SIL found on Pinterest and piled the sauteed cabbage on top, drizzled with a little warmed up WF BBQ sauce. It was so good!

It does feel so good when I do the right the thing. Went out to dinner tonight, no chips, no bread...felt ok with that. Had shrimp cocktail with lemon while my DH ate the other, no cocktail sauce, did miss that. Then grilled fish, broccoli and cauli and a whole 32 oz bottle of Pelligrino with a lime! Thanks for info about cabbage sauté.

Please post what you think of them :) I hope you like them

Tried two of the Syntrax Nectar drink mixes yesterday....

Wild Grape is YUMMY!!!!!! Not too sweet... I mixed the sample pack in almost full 16 oz bottle of water and put in the freezer for about an hour so it was very cold..it was a treat!!!!

Lemon tea was not as tasty but not bad... I didn't chill in the freezer tho so I'm going to try my other sample pack today and will let you know if that makes a difference. I always chilled drinks when I used IP, seemed to mask the protein taste.

Snacked on the Kay's Natural cookie Bites - honey flavored - almond filled: that was the description. Not sure why? They were more like a puff (kind of. Texture of Cheetos puff) and slightly sweet. They were very tasty, but not what the name makes you expect. I will order more!

I think I'm trying the cappuccino this morning! Will update as I try something different!!

One thing I forgot to mention ... Nashua ships fast. I received mine in 3 days.

So had an AMAZING find at the local farmer's market yesterday :D There was a new booth here this weekend and it's a company that does flavor infused EVOO and Balsamic (which cannot have but still!). There was many many flavors and I ended up buying the Garlic infused EVOO and the Lemon infused EVOO. I'm thinking next week, I'm going to get the Mushroom & Sage EVOO, Tuscan Herb EVOO, and Blood Orange EVOO! And there's still plenty more choices on top of that. I was talking to one of the associates and they signed a 11 month lease with the market so they will be there for awhile.

Now I need some ideas on how to cook with this stuff! Any good salad dressings or other ideas I can use flavored EVOO for? I've seen some people talk about it before but can't remember the specifics

Sounds like it would be a good base for sauteing veggies. I make cauliflower rice for so many dishes and use a little oil in the pan when I do. These would be a great way to add flavor. What kind of shelf life do they have? Maybe you could toss your broccoli or cauliflower in it before roasting? That would be yummy. It would be great in a marinade for meat or seafood! Oh,now I want some! Ha ha.

OOOH..MOVING FORWARD!! So glad for you!

Have also started to explore that app...and just how it will work. I'll need to pay attention to what you report! I know manybegan using it in P1...probably a good idea, and I wish I'd have doe it since part of getting the benefit from using something like that is compliance...and habit! (Kinda like exercise)

Congrats...and keep sharing what you're learning!!

OOOH..MOVING FORWARD!! So glad for you!]

I've been using LiveStrong/MyFinessPal for about the past year to track what I've been eating.

Both are really great tools for me because it give me 1 place to track food and exercise. MFP has all the IP calories already loaded, so my coach wanted us to use that format. It is also great because I've entered IP recipes that I eat often so that it saves me time entering my food for the day.

You have to check that MFP foods are what you actually ate and if not, create your own entry. Ex: type in "boneless skinless chicken breast" and the results could be fried, sauteed or grilled. Just be specific about what you acually ate and double check it.

I do like the LiveStrong site a lot..and actually in spite of all the controversy...still support the foundation. Our SIL is a cancer survivor..(Hodgkins at 16)...and rode in one of the LS bike tours last fall. Personally, MFP works better in the app than it does on the web.
I love it on my ipad. It is so-so on my phone and I avoid it on my laptop

In the app, it is super easy to access frequently used items

I've found searching works best if super-specific
Example: boneless chicken thigh raw
Raw onion
Etc

OMG I buy garlic infused evoo all the time since I discovered it!
Anywhere I would have used plain evoo, now in goes the garlic infused. Yum.
I put a tad in my potato zucchini muffins, use it in salad dressing, rubbed into kale when making kale Chips. The garlic evoo is in my spritzer now!

Well I just had a OPPS this morning. I made up my smoothie before I jumped in the shower. I had planned to ''eat" breakfast on the way into the office. I made it and stuck it in the freezer. Made up the rest of my lunch bag and into the shower I go. Get dressed, kiss the sweetie and off I go. Get to work, go to reach for my drink and bam nothing! LOL So now I'm having the blueberry -cran granata for breakfast instead. Guess I'll be having the smoothie for dinner ! :dizzy:

Oh, I hate it when that happens! Sounds like you were well prepared and had an extra packet with you. I always follow Lisa's advice and have an extra packet at work, in my purse, in my car, etc. If I am stuck without protein, I can always go to the grocery store and grab a pre-cooked chicken, a salad with chicken from Subway, although not necessarily something you want to do all the time.

Your smoothie may be a Popsicle for dinner!! :dizzy:

I love that blueberry-crab granata! I need to keep a stash of "emergency" IP foods in my purse...I worry about doing what you did and then not having a backup. Drank the IP cappuccino this am. It was delish......and I don't drink coffees at all. I imagine it will be good with ice as a smoothie.

Hate it when that happens!
Hopefully sweetie can pull it out so it's not a solid block!
I did that with some iced tea this week. I usually freeze half and fill in the morning with liquid, then it doesnt get watered down. Well, I didn't do my evening prep so I was trying to partially freeze it in the am...oops!

I always just make my smoothies with coffee ice cubes so I don't stick THOSE in the freezer but I've walked out of the house without my entire lunch bag before. So good to have backups EVERYWHERE just in case!

we have a store here called oliv - that has all those wonderful flavours - for salads I just use a bit of the oil - my ip salt and pepper and it is enough flavour (i dont like any kind of vinegar but would be good mixed like littlestar said)

there is a butter flavoured one that i drizzle over my grilled asparagus or put in my mashed cauliflower

used the bacon flavoured one to fry some cabbage with and to cook my omlette in

they make it so easy to get your oil for the day in!!

65x65 I think I will stay away from the webmd tracker then....... all I need is someone hassling me for not logging food........lol..

We had a bday lunch for Granny, 93 yrs old , she picked the menu, stuffed quahogs, baked haddock, carrots, rice pilaf, triple layer white cake with white frosting, ( I did try that, one bite only), I had a spinach salad and shake. Poor Granny got here, DH picked her up from the nursing home, she didnt feel well and spent the day vomiting and laying on the couch. I felt so bad for her, I dont know if she was car sick or got a bug. She was dizzy, the poor thing, I sent the IL's home with lots of food and half the cake. The rest of the cake is going to DHs work tomorrow.

New to this site and hoping to chat with a few who have experience on IP. I started with the alternative plan, as suggested by my coach (diabetes) and found the weight loss a little slow. She told me I could stop that after 2 weeks and just go phase 1, but I found it tough. I must say this is a hard program-but I guess if I go on doing what I always have-my results will always be the same. I still add those extra groups in as needed-but am trying to stay away. Once I gave in to cheating-week 3-its been hard to get back. I had a baby shower yesterday and even though I started off making good choices-it ended badly. So again I start again..frustrated. I started this because a girl I work with has done this without cheating-has lost 84 lbs-another started the same time as me she is down 21-me <10- 4 weeks but again I have been far less than perfect. I also need to stop comparing my self to them-thats a mistake. So I would appreciate any feedback-especially from those who have ever been on the alternative plan. Thanks

Really blunt here.
You need to decide if you're "all in" or half-A@@ in.

If you're "all in" you'll get the total benefits from IP
If you're half-A@@ in, you get half-A@@ results.

I actually spent over a month preparing myself to start IP. I got my head on "straight" and made the only option to stay on the plan 100%. Literally. There was no other option. I really felt like it was life or death.

I know I was slowly dying inside and out.

I agree once you give in to cheating, it is easier to do it over & over again. I've seen it too many times to list here.
So, if you decide you're "all in," set yourself a new start date and commit to 100% On Plan, no matter what.

Once you get a few days of 100%, you'll have the momentum and it gets easier and easier.

I'm pulling for you!

The difference between alternative plan and regular IP is that you won't be in ketosis on the alternative plan. It is actually HARDER! I wouldn't take a coach' opinion on whether you can do regular IP. I would want my doctor to tell me whether it is safe or not. Most coaches are not medical professionals. If yours is, you are lucky!

It's certainly not enough extra carbs to throw you out of Ketosis!!

Hey, if you want pancakes AND a restricted in the same day, then make a crispy cereal pancake instead (unrestricted and REALLY tasty!!!). Crush the cereal in the packet (I use a rolling pin and mash it extra fine). Add an egg white, tsp baking powder and water to pancake consistency (not too thin). Some like a little Splenda and cinnamon. I like it w/orange extract. Cook over medium heat (slower and not too hot us better). Serve w/warmed WF syrup (I do half pancake w/blueberry and half w/maple.).
