I was waiting to see if someone would start a new thread for us...I've never started a thread and am hoping I am doing this right. I fell short of my goal for September, but am willing to keep going expecting better results.

Thanks for starting this thread, Boatingmommy! I'm going to join in again. My two weeks away were amazing and I have been lurking again here for a couple of weeks as the batteries in my scale wore out and i was slow to replace them. Good luck in this October Challenge!!

I had so many plans for working out after work this week. Instead I am spending all my time at funerals. My best friend since grade school mother
passed away and my sister-in-law's father passed away. I have a memorial service tonight, visitation tomorrow night and funeral on Friday. Both of the deaths were a blessing as each person was suffering so much and their qualify of life was minimal. Still, sad week, and busy for several unfortunate reasons. Also....going to be lots of food around and stress. Not a good combination for me.

Sue - Thanks for your kind words. This may sound morbid or weird, but the memorial service last night was almost fun...a real celebration of a life, and I got to see so many people from my hometown.
Ian- You have done so well...hope this plateau doesn't get you down.
Woodstock - I see that your ticker says 152...wish I could fast forward and be there...that seems so far away right now.
Jbhigdon - I am all about the accountability. Without the structure, I really falter.
SuperHT - All your little sunshines at the bottom of your posts for pounds lost are AMAZING!!

I'm sorry to read about the stress you have and the loss this week, Boatingmommy. In addition, I know how frustrating it is to not be able to keep to a routine and the effect that has on staying on plan. Sometimes I'm even frustrated when I've said yes to a dinner out with someone, and when it comes time for the event I would prefer to be at home eating my salad.

Also, at the rate you are going, you will be at 152 before you know it!! Me, i'm looking at all the folks in the 140's and am hoping to get there (and stay there) soon!

Thanks Sue and boatingmommy. I am up 1.2lbs today. It looks like I am maintaining, but I just can't admit it at the moment.

The issue for me is I am exercising a lot and eating a big lunch to fuel that. And I am not sure I can give that up for the scale as it makes my body look and feel better. Argh.

I am not asking much. Just another 6lbs.

10/4 - 165.5 YeeeeeHawwww!!! :dancer: It's still TOM, and a drop in the middle?? I jumped off and on that scale 4 times to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me.
Funeral #2 today...and luncheon. I will have to take along some extra willpower to make good food choices, since I know they will be limited and all those church ladies make super yummy deserts.
Ian - Maybe your body is turning to muscle and replacing the lighter fat. You keep on adding the muscle and you may stay at 170ish. That's not bad if you are looking and feeling great. And you look great in your picture!
Sue - keep on chugging forward...or should I say backward?? At any rate, keep up the good work...so close to lowest!!! You go girl!
To all you others - may the force be with you...or whatever else gets you through the day OP!

Ian, I'll chime in with Boatingmommy to agree that if I were in your position I'd stick with a plan that is making me look and feel better - isn't that what its all about?! Your progress to date is nothing short of amazing and it seems like this is another phase that has amazing results for your fitness. I run often as well and go to the gym on non-running days. I think from reading your posts that you might run and go to the gym in the same day - this can only have positive results in the long run!

Boatingmommy - wow - way to go this week, especially among all of your non-routine commitments!

Thanks everyone and I will stick to the plan. I do exercise very hard and it does play havoc with my weight for several reasons. First, is definitely water both sweating and water retention. Second, might be muscle. We'll have to wait and see. And third is food. I eat a big lunch to fuel my exercise and although it is lean, the weight of the food affects the scale.

Anyway, down 1.8lbs today. And FIL is getting better. He had his heart catheterization yesterday and they found nothing wrong. So it was just his thyroid messing him up which can be treated. If all is well he should be home in a few days.

Boatingmommy... what a tough few days... and the nice thing is to see people you have not seen in awhile and to celebrate and tell stories of the one who passed... Still I send a hug to you!

IAN well the stress is going away and taking the lbs with it too! :) So happy for the non-harsh treatment that your FIL will have to do to be well again! Yay!

Oh I am gathering all of your determination.. I need it... Scale yesterday was all over the place 3+ lbs difference between highest and lowest weigh in.. so I did not post and today Surprise (LOL not funny tho) :(

GW - 162 ...Okay, must have really been hanging onto some water weight. Thank goodness that trend didn't stick! Just chugged 32 oz of water. Drank lots of H2O yesterday and that helped.

Perhaps this is still weekend stuff, or because of a 10K run last night - not much change here, but I'll take this in stride for sure and will be interested to see what it means for tomorrow -- big workout planned at the gym today and I have a strategy to eat fruit before a planned Dim Sum lunch with work folks today so that I'm not starving and eat everything I see!

Headache has finally bid me adieu. I think the morning rains have helped. I was such a good girl last night...no beer to derail my losing streak. Ok. I'm changing my final goal to 118. I'm so happy with how far I've come this year, my husband is about to come home from deployment, we'll try for baby #2, and we're into the holiday season. So, I really want to see 118 on the scale and then I think it's best for me to start maintenance.

Try losing 65 in a matter of 3 months . I love being a smaller size but losing too quickly is not healthy for anyone just make sure you do it healthy. I lost mine due to stress and lack of appetite. Don't get me wrong I'm glad to have the weight off because being a size 18 (squeazing into) is also not healthy for most people. Of course I was healthy at that size but am not now at a size 10 go figure. Anyway whatever is healthy for you is what i'm trying to say losing fast is self gratifying but not always best. Good luck to everyone and may they reach their goals

Velinamartinez - Thank you for the advice. Although our thread catches the eye at "Lose 10 lbs", the majority of us posted goals for the month of a pound or two a week. I think we are a pretty healthy minded group, for the most part, and are encouraging healthy lifestyle changes, not quick weight loss. None of us wants to be unhealthy and skinny...but thank you for watching out for us.

Ugh this month has been so hard. I seem to be losing again, but there was a while there where I flatlined, and even went backwards. To make goal I need to lose 4.1 pounds in the next week ... I don't think that's going to happen, but it's possible.

Well, that sucks. Up 1.8lbs today to end the month 0.2 higher than my SW.

Dang. But it has been a rollercoaster month weight-wise, fitness-wise (doing more) and emotionally. But my diet has stayed on track.
