I have to be into the 130s by November 17th (metal concert with super old friends, haha)... But I'm going to try to knock it out before then. But I do have an October birthday to attend so I don't want to put too big of a goal.

Good luck everyone! What are your plans for the month of October? :)

I'm back for October. Thus far, I've been losing about 1.5 lbs per week, on average. However, I'm starting to get close to my goal weight and I expect my rate of loss to slow in the future. In addition, I don't want to lose too quickly, or I'll be losing muscle rather than fat...and I want to keep what little muscle I have! So, I'll go with an average loss of 1 lb per week for October. Since October contains about 4.5 weeks, that translates into a 4.5 lb loss, which will also take me out of the 140's and into the 130's. :)

Hey ladies! I'm back for the October challenge. The September challenge helped me out so much. I lost 6.4 pounds in September and my goal is to lose another 6 in October. Thank God there aren't any holidays this month...unless you count Halloween, but my daughter is only one, so I can't really use her as an excuse to go trick-or-treating yet. ;)

My weight tomorrow will be my starting point.

Good luck to everyone!

I'm so glad I joined these threads and I'm grateful to those who have given me support because it's helping me to get back on track and monitor my weight again!

Yesterday I weighed 200.4, but too much sodium pushed me up to a start weight of 201.4, My goal weight by month's end is 194.0. I need to lose 7.4 lb.s

1 201.4
2 200.0 SO CLOSE to 2 major achievements: ONE-derland and 50 lb. loss!

20 196.4 FINALLY! (-5 lbs) at this rate I won't meet my set goal, losing 1 lb. every 10 days!!!
21 197.4 Back up to what my body wants to weigh...sigh. I was careless yesterday.

23 196.0 back on plan! (-5.4)

31 194.8 Why do I ALWAYs gain right at the end of the month/challenge? I was sick with a cold then had sick grandkids in my care for 2 days...haven't been able to work out. So my ending weight means I lost a total of 6.6 lbs. not bad, but I did not meet my goal for the first time since July! Oh, well. Looking at the big picture makes me happy!

Good morning you guys,
this is my first challenge so I'm hoping I'm doing this right.

A short introduction: I'm 22, I go to School in Germany and I've actively been losing weight since January.
I usually only weigh-in every 4-6 weeks at my parents' house, but I didn't lose anything since the beginning of August so I hope checking my weight daily will help me understand that a little better.
Although I already know why ;) I was eating too much, haha ;) The only reason why I didn't gain was because I picked up running, and I completed my first 10k on Sunday :) go me.
Anyways, I had my wisdom teeth pulled on Monday, so I can't exercise for 2 weeks (also can't blow my nose :P), so considering I won't have any burn, my goal for October is to get my eating back on track.

I hope I didn't overshare just now ;)
everybody have a great day!! And of course, a successful month.

Jacqui: Way to go, getting to 188! :carrot: Can we now agree that the 190’s are a thing of the past? :)

Joy: Good luck with today’s weigh-in.

Emme, cincorn & MrsKevin: You guys are all SO close to ONEderland. We’re going to have lots to celebrate this month!

Rhiko: Terrific start to October!

boatingmommy: Great job on the exercise front…not to worry about TOM…a nice whoosh will follow.

183StGB: Great introduction! I’m 55 and I had one of my wisdom teeth removed about 8 months ago. That was not fun, so I sympathize with your situation. On the plus side, I was in too much pain to eat much other than soup for about a week…so perhaps that will help to get your eating back on track.

mygirl, gatorgirl, mzshaunna, Woodstock, VickiN , nitrus and MrsKevin: Welcome and good luck in meeting your October goals!

Hi everyone! I was able to make my 5 pound goal last month. I weighed in today at 230.6. I'm almost out of the 230's. My goal this month is to be at 225, so 5 pounds :) I've been doing pretty well with my lifestyle change, so I'm ready for this challenge. Good luck to you all!!

I'm feeling discouraged today because my weight shot up 2.4 pounds overnight, but I'm not going to let it get me down. DH and I had yesterday off to clean the house. We ate out twice, but I was mindful of what I ate and tried not to go overboard with calories.

Cracker Barrel has a new menu with lighter options, so my breakfast was around 590 calories (according to their menu), then I had Jimmy John's for lunch which was 640, so with everything else I ate, I had about 2,400 calories yesterday. Not too crazy, since I stay within 1600-1750 calories per day, and it's definitely not enough to bump me up 2.4 pounds.

I am going to go for a run tonight and drink as much water as I can since I had a lot of coffee yesterday.

I know I couldn't have gained that much weight in fat, but it's still hard to see the number sometimes.

Tuscany, that's awesome! Any visit from the whoosh fairy is very welcome!

Jacqui, you are doing so great! 188 is a great number. I can't wait to be there.

Turtle, off to a great start, I see! :)

Sum38, you're off to a great start, too! :carrot:

Grover, you are going to do great this month! I just know it! :)

Emme - I am sure it is the sodium in the meals that caused the scale to increase so much. Even though you picked lighter menu options (Good job by the way) they still have way more sodium than you would find in a home cooked meal.

My personal motivation is my 40th birthday party in mid December where I would like to not be overweight and hey, why shouldn't i look like i did when i was 30!

Woohoo, Rhiko, great job!

Nitrus, Onederland! Onederland! Onederland!

Joy, thanks for the list! You always do such a great job!

Hi 183StGB! Welcome! There's no such thing as oversharing here, lol! Good to know you! Weighing daily has its ups and down, pun intended. :D Don't let the daily fluctuations discourage you. They are all a part of it, so no big deal. It's only the big picture that matters!

Tuscany, great start! And yes, I have my fingers crossed that the 190's are gone forever! That would be exciting! :crossed:

Turtle, I see that teeny tiny drop. Yay! :cp:

Sum, I know whose house the mama whoosh fairy was at last night! Wow! WTG!

Grover, congrats on last month! :carrot: And you have a great attitude going forward for this month, so I know you'll do it!

Emme, don't be discouraged. You watch, I bet those extra calories are going to shake up your metabolism, and a drop is coming!

Rated, wow! That's fantastic! Even with the early start, I'd say that calls for some dancing things! :broc: :dancer: :cb:

Stiletto, it's good you know to anticipate the fluctuations, and hey, usually with TOM comes a drop! Woohoo!

Woodstock, absolutely! There's no reason why you shouldn't look like you did when you were 30! You can do it! (And stick with us, and we'll help you get there!) :flow2:

Went up on day one, down two today... Ill take that! I'm approaching TOM so think my weight is fluctuating a bit.

Jacqui - thanks for the welcome. Good suggestion about weighing in in the mornings... Ill give that a try next month

Cincorn - blown away by your big goal - hopefully you'll hit it tomorrow or the day after? That must be so motivating.

Gardener joy - thanks for the goals summary. Great to see it all up there. So hope I make it. I'm a bit daunted by my 9lb target though - its high because sept didn't go so well for me - too many party's (and not enough will power)!

Feeling good about my weekly routine so far, fitting in my insanity workouts but a bit stiff today. Worried about the weekend as I'm eating out three times (lucky me) and find it hard to resist both desert and pizza (my Achilles heel)!

good morning :)

Tuscany thanks for the welcome :) I'm very lucky with my wisdom teeth; I heard a lot of horror stories about 3-week-chipmunk-cheeks, I'm glad it didn't happen to me :) Or maybe I wasn't lucky, I was able to eat properly 2 hours later ;)

jacqui_D thanks for the welcome :)

I have only been weighing daily for 3 days but the results are really startling. I am thinking it's because I'm using a digital scale now, but I'm trying to avoid mistakes by weighing at the exactly same time at exactly the same location, hop on 3x and then taking the middle number as today's weight. Total rocket sience ;)

Other than that, today is our national holiday in Germany :) I will be making savory cheesecake tarts for lunch and then spend time with my family.

Have a great day everyone!

No change for me this morning, but at least yesterday’s loss is sticking.

GW: 139.00

10/1: 143.50
10/2: 142.75
10/3: 142.75

Turtle: Baby steps, but you’re moving in the right direction...

Jacqui: It looks like your recent losses are sticking!

Emme: Not to worry…the increase is just water weight, most likely from increase sodium (as Rated mentioned). It will disappear soon enough.

Sum: I hope you’re feeling better. On the plus side, a small portion of your loss remained.

Woodstock: You only have 2.6 lbs to go to get to 150, at which point you’ll officially no longer be overweight. We’ll all make sure you’re there in time for your birthday!

183StGB: If your scale tells you different numbers each time you step on it, then it might mean either the scale is on a non-level surface (so you should move it) or the scale needs new batteries. That said, you will see a fair bit of fluctuation in your weight from day to day due mainly to water retention. Those of us who regularly weigh daily have learned to ignore the daily fluctuations and focus on the overall trend instead. Enjoy German Unity Day!

fluffygrover: Great way to start October!

Leah: Enjoy your family, but do what you can to stay on track.

Rated: Nice loss so far…keep up the good work!

stilettolife: Here’s hoping for a nice whoosh once TOM moves along.

Minneey: Great start to October, but repeat after me: “Pizza and deserts taste yucky and I don’t want to eat them”.

DaisyBelle: Welcome and good luck meeting your October goals!

Hoopty: Willkommen! And I hope you also enjoy the national holiday today!

Tuscany, I can completely appreciate your comments!! On this roller-coaster i've been on for the last few years, the lowest i've gotten to is 149 (in august) at which time I fit in to all the clothes I ultimately want to and felt such a difference in myself. I celebrated a bit too much and find myself working towards that number (and lower) again.

Minneey, I'm with you on the 2000 calorie target as well! I'm booked in to a four course prix fix tonight (morrocan), so this will be interesting. I've just looked at the menu and there does seem to be a light option for each course.

Still 65.1 kgs. I've been eating triple choc brownies over the past 3 days... Why? Because my partner made them for work, left half here and won't have any himself. So, because I don't like to waste food (there are starving children all over the world etc, etc) I've been having a little bit everyday. In saying that, I'm still over the moon that my weight is finally moving downwards again!

Hey team. I had made Saturda mornings my official weigh in day. But I think I need to reevaluate that. Last night I went out with a friend and had no preplan in my back pocket. We ended up at a pizza and wine bar (double trouble). We shared a pizza and each had 2 glasses of wine. The small victory here is that I sent her home with my other two pieces, because I KNEW I'd get home from seeing her and scarf them the second I got home. With that said this morning I was at 178.2 I imagine that is inflated due to last night.

I'm thinking I'm going to move weigh in days to Thursday mornings, as that gives m a bit of wiggle room for the weekends.

Here's to a new day with a whole new set of calories :)

I normally take the weekend off from weighing, and that reflects my typical off plan behaviour friday through sunday. What is different this time around is a vigilant attempt to take control of my weekend nutrition, so here goes. Although I was out for a four course Moroccan dinner last night, I chose the lightest option for each and learned that I could enjoy a great dinner and not stuff myself. My friend beside me felt so full that he didn't want to move and I felt great - loved it!

That said, just weighed in and I'm a pound down. Just got to try and go easy on my three course set menu meal tonight. Gulp! Hoping to be disciplined and take some lighter choices...

Half a lb down this morning! 186.5! Of course, it's cheat day, so that's not going to stick, but still, I got there and I'll be there again in a few days! :D

Woodstock, way to stay accountable on the weekends! Love it! :spin:

Rhiko, now, now, triple chocolate brownies each day? :nono: Shouldn't your partner just take the rest to work since he's not eating them at home? But hey, congrats on the downward movement! :D

Sum, every little bit counts!

Turtle, that whoosh fairy needs to come visit! C'mon whoosh fairy! :wizard:

Suds, good luck with your new weigh-in day! Good job on sending those pizza leftovers with your friend! :cp:

Minneey, congrats on the pound down! :flow2:

Hi Urock! Glad you're joining us!

Moving in the wrong direction this morning…:?: I will be leaving this afternoon for a brief business trip, so I won’t be able to weigh or post for the next few days. While away I will be subject to business breakfasts, lunches and dinners. I hope I will be able to remain on plan. I’ll be home and back to posting on Wednesday. In the meantime, I wish everyone good luck with their weigh-ins!

I'm actually happy it stayed the same and didn't go higher! I had some yummy pizza last night (stayed under 1450 calories for the day) but I figured the sodium would cause some water retention.

Um, I'm thinking my goal of six pounds for October was a bit too lofty seeing as I'm 8 days in and technically I should be down 1.5 pounds by now. Oh well. Some days I feel like stopping because it just takes so much work, but I've done this before and I know how to do it. I just have to stay focused.

I haven't been able to exercise very much and that really stinks. I used to be able to work out every single day before I had my daughter and I loved it! Now, when 8:00 rolls around and she's in bed, I just collapse. I do have a rec center at work, though, so I should really start taking advantage of it over lunch. That's my own lazy fault for not doing that. I used to go a lot over the summer, but then I stopped.

Probably because of hormones, I am up to 190 this morning. I was hoping the 190's were gone for good, but apparently not. I haven't been off plan so that's not it. I'm going to focus on drinking green tea and water today and see if that helps any. I had 3 glasses of water in a row last night and wasn't running to the bathroom so obviously my body's holding onto it.

BFR, good job on the 2 lbs down! :carrot:

Emme, hang in there! I was on plan all last month and yet it took me to day 18 to finally stop going around in circles between 195 and 197. By the end of the month, however, I dropped to 189. :dust:

I'm getting anxious about Thursday's weigh in day. I changed it up a bit this week and did my own version of the Wendie Plan--not sure it that was a good move. Thursday's number should be a good indicator. On the up side of things, I FINALLY went out for a run today. I haven't been out for a solid two weeks. Today I ran my longest run yet (5.12 miles!). There were brief stops along the way to catch my breath and for water. But overall I am super happy with getting outside and taking charge of my exercise. I tend to overcompensate with food on days I work out--so I;m trying really hard to fight the urge to have a bowl of cereal right now.

Hope everyone's week is off to a good start!! Thanks for the check in...it always helps.

Suds, how awesome that you went for that long of a run. I'm working my way back up to a 5k and so far I'm only up to about 2 miles. I'll get there, though. Slowly but surely!

Turtle, look at you go!! :)

I've realized that I consume food as though I will never see it again. I don't bite food--I shovel it in. I don't chew 15 times and wallow, I just gulp. I don't intentionally eat a meal, I pick and graze and graze and graze. It's nuts! Lately I've found a strategy that has seemed to alter my way of thinking. I keep telling myself you are done with today's calories---but don't worry tomorrow you get a whole new set! This seems to be working as I avoid the kitchen and late night snacks.

Thanks for all the support regarding the big run yesterday. I was definitely feeling the after affects today. But I felt strong and proud and awesome! Crossing my fingers for weigh in tomorrow. Keep working hard everyone!

I’m back from my business trip. As I feared, I was put in quite a few situations where I had a choice between eating something off plan or eating nothing. A few times, I chose to not eat…but I could only do that so often. Long story short, I gained a half pound, which puts me back to where I started October. I suppose it could have been worse. Hopefully, I will lose it again in the next day or so.

Jacqui: I’m glad to see you got rid of the 190’s so quickly…let’s hope that’s the last of them!

Joy: I hope I do as well as you in eliminating the extra weight from my business trip.

Emme: You’re back in ONEderland! Pretty soon, you’ll be there permanently!

Woodstock: Sometimes our bodies retain water when we step up the pace in our existing exercise routines. I suspect that’s what you’re seeing.

Minneey: Holy smokes…5 lbs since the beginning of October…you go, girl!

183StGB: You’re doing well so far!

Campana, stilettolife & BFR: Good job losing 2 lbs since the beginning of the month!

This morning i was a bit disappointed at the scale as I burned a lot of calories at the gym yesterday and expected to lose rather than gain. It is likely the Dim Sum lunch I had. I decided to eat an apple half an hour before lunch to control my appetite and I thought it worked quite well as I wasn't starving when we sat down to eat and i only had 5 steamed dumplings. My fitness pal indicated these types of dumplings can be 50 calories, but i suspect now that is an understatement of calories.

Or, as you mentioned Tuscany, this could still be exercise -- I have a trainer and we trained my legs last night like I've never done before. Perhaps there is a woosh in my near future! LOL

Tuscany - I think you did great to be so conscious of your choices on your business trip. It is so tough in these situations where you have no access to things from your plan.

Way to go, Campana, how awesome that you are so close to goal already!

I'm back down to my low, 186.5! Thanks Whoosh Fairy! :wizard:

SW: 189
GW: 183

10/6: 189
10/7: 188.5
10/8: 190
10/9: 188.5
10/10: 186.5

I've started keeping a log of my weight loss to see if I can spot any patterns, because to tell you the truth, I'm still not quite sure why this diet works when I have a cheat day every week that always causes me to put on a lb or 2 the day after! Yes it drops back off in the next 2-3 days, but do I really lose or at least maintain every single week? So, tallying the stats, this is the picture I've gotten since the first cheat day in August when I started keeping track:

Week 1--High 201.5, Low 200
Week 2--High 200, Low 197
Week 3--High 199, Low 197
Week 4--High 199.5, Low 196
Week 5--High 196.5, Low 195
Week 6--High 197, Low 195
Week 7--High 196.5, Low 191
Week 8--High 191, Low 188.5
Week 9--High 190.5, Low 187
Week 10--(not yet complete)

I kind of like this way of looking at my progress. I might have a low at the beginning of a week and a high at the end, but overall, I can see what's going on. The low of each week is always lower than or maintains the low of the previous week, which is good because that shows a steady pace of weight loss. However, the same is not true of the highs. Week 4 and 6 have higher highs than the weeks before them. I guess the message I should take away from that is don't fret the highs. They will work themselves out and lead to lower lows! :D

And I still don't understand why my diet works, lol!

Stiletto, congrats on the lb down (and the end of TOM, lol)!

Suds, great job on that realization about food! I think we all eventually have to come to that conclusion or we are doomed to gain weight again!

good morning everyone :)

I was SUPER reluctant about posting today -- I was out drinking last night, and I went totally overboard. The 4,000cals are a guesstimation, because really, I don't even remember what all I drank/ate. Yeah, once in a while. I am glad class starts in 10 days, it will bring a little more routine and seriousness into my life.
I went to run first Thing in the morning though :) First time after I had my wisdom teeth pulled, but I'm glad it went well. It is freezing cold in Germany though! It even snowed some places. We kinda skipped fall, I guess.

You guys are really awesome at writing personal Messages :)
let me try and catch up.

Campana great you're so Close to your Goal already! Keep going, and you'll exceed your own expectations! (which is an awesome thing, IMO ;))

Woodstock I wouldn't sweat a 0.1 gain. Could just be an error on your scale. I always find it super hard when I'm eating out though, because you never know how many calories the food has. The MFP values are more guesstimations -- I don't rely on it too much. I hope the dumplings were yummy though!

Jacqui_D it's prett awesome you have those weight-loss stats! This is my first month tracking Progress daily, and I already find it super interesting to evaluate it. Thanks for sharing yours :) And also thanks for writing personal encouraging Messages every day! Means a lot.

Suds14 you'll see the 176 soon! I'm bouncing around that number right now aswell. We can do it! Also, roasted beets Sound super delicious. I never had that before, but now I totally want to try!

DaisyBelle it's going down! Wootwoot!

Minneey mmh Chinese! If you want to eat it, you should! Hope you enjoy it :)

Jaqui, I loved your weigh in comparisons :p

I have always been apprehensive about daily weights because of the "little" variances, which are not always little at all  Funny how I can practically starve myself and the next day show good sized weight gain, :?: and like you and others have mentioned many times, having a "cheat" or slight binge day, expect a big gain the next day but instead are greeted with a good sized loss :o
Makes us wonder.

I started doing the daily weigh in's on Sum's daily weigh in challenge just for the heck of it and having fun with it. ;) My starting weight for this month was 248, and I hit that again day after the following weeks weigh in of 246, hitting 248 again the very next day. :dizzy:

I have hit a high during these 11 days of 256, which is up 2 lbs from my start weight of 248, and this morning my weigh in on the daily weigh in was a startling low of 240. :o This evening it is up to 246 again, but I expected that as I always weigh about 6 lbs heavier later in the day. I have three days to go for the weigh in on this challenge.......... Wonder if it will go down further or go back up?? :?: LOL any guesses??

B F R

PS ALL of you are doing great :D And thanks again for that double method Jacqui, I am going to try to use some form of it myself, hope I don't complicate it too much for me to understand it

Down .8 pounds this week. Not much but Ill take it. I now am at 233.9. This last few months I have been noticing a trend. I was down half a lb today to an even 185! Only 2 more lbs to hit goal this month! :carrot: Of course, today is cheat day, so those lbs will have to wait just a bit, lol! :D

Amanda, congrats on moving out of the morbidly obese category!!! :yay: :carrot: :cp: :broc: :flow2:  :dancer: What a milestone! :woohoo:

Minneey, don't be discouraged. Look at your overall numbers! Maybe a weekend spurge is working for you!

BFR, I'm so glad you like my method of keeping track and I hope if you use it or a modified version of it, it serves you well! Congrats on the 240!!! :bravo: Oh, but you shouldn't weigh yourself at night, lol! We always weigh more at night. In fact, have you seen this thread's article? http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/weight-loss-news-current-events/283784-every-night-you-lose-more-than-pound-while-youre-asleep-oddest-reason.html We really do lose weight overnight, which is why we weigh less in the morning!

Turtle, I'm so glad the whoosh fairy is paying attention! 159! 159! 159! :cheer:

Yay, Joy, maintenance is good! Although, c'mon whoosh fairy! We need a 76! :wizard:

Tuscany, you are always on fire :flame: and your weight loss progress never ceases to amaze me! You are an inspiration!

183, I get excited by giant pumpkins too, lol! My town has been holding an annual pumpkin festival for over 100 years, so needless to say everyone here loves pumpkins. Our festival begins on Tuesday, so you can bet I'll be walking downtown to see the giant pumpkins, and on my cheat day next Saturday, I'll be having wonderfully yummy pumpkin delights! :T

Sum, Dear Sum's scale, stay down! I know she works out way too hard for you to jump upward like you do!

Woodstock, woohoo! A fabulous new decade!!! Congrats! :yay:

Jacqui, I do my weigh'ins first thing of a morning, but just tossed that evening weight in to show the 4 lbs up thing. But alas, I only lost one lb of it last night

I did not click onto that site about losing a lb at night, I am sure the reason is expiration of liquid in the breath. For the main part. But I often lose about 4 lbs getting up to go....... :dizzy: to "that" place

Keep it up gal :D

Jacqui: Look at you go! :broc: October is definitely working out to be your month and I hope the month continues the way it started.

Joy: Waiting for Baby Whoosh to visit again…

Minneey: I LOVE apple crumble… now you’re making me hungry! :hungry: Good luck with tomorrow’s weigh in!

183StGB: Whenever I feel hungry and it’s not mealtime, I try drinking water, which often curbs my appetite. Also, if you think you just like the chewing motion, what about sugar-free gum?

BFR: Good luck with your next weigh in!

SouthernBell: I saw that trend when I first started dieting. I hope your whoosh comes soon.

Sum: Despite the small gain, you’re still doing well so far this month…keep going!

jacqui_D great to hear we share the same Passion for pumpkins, haha! They'll have a live broadcasting of the Europe's Biggest Pumpkin competition on local TV today, but I think that's too much, even for me ;)

Tuscany yeah, chewing gum helps a lot :) I go through a lot of gum usually, but can't right now due to the wisdom teeth Thing. Although, if I already disregard the Dr.'s advice about not running, I should totally do the same with gum :)

It's a really nice, sunny fall day over here. I came down with a cold today, unfortunately, but I guess I will still go for a Little walk in the afternoon. Or enjoy Europe's Biggest Pumpkin on TV :P
take care everyone!

I'm on antibiotics due to a UTI so needless to say I haven't been feeling well. I made it down to 143.2 lbs a couple of days ago but that didn't stick.
I'm gonna try my hardest to eat healthily tomorrow and maybe even work out. We're about halfway through the month so I definitely got time to make it to 140 lbs and then focus on getting into the 130s. I'm probably at 145 lbs right now.

CONGRATS to everyone who is doing so well!

Southernbell - wowsa! thats completely amazing. are you going to set a new goal for the rest of the month?

Sum - you're doing so well this month. That goal is already in sight! Seems like your plan is really working for you!

Turtle - hello 150's! Wooohoooo!

Jacqui - weighed in today, clearly these weekend binges are working as I'm a lb down. Very puzzling but also big relief.

Woodstock - well done for hitting the 140s! Those workouts are paying off. How did you get on with those dinners?

Keep up the good work guys - I always lose motivation in the second half of the month. Must stay on track.... Must stay on track...

I see that people that some people are making progress this month while others are locked in a head-to-head battle with their weight, just like me! Keep it up ladies and gentleman, we are doing great :)

Well, I'm back up to 65.1 and the scales are still teasing me with 64.7. I swear it almost settled on the lower number, but then jumped back up in the last second before my official weight flashed on the screen. What a pain lol

The reason it went up is because I had a b'day party to attend over the weekend and we played a murder mystery game. Our food was to die for  Anyway, after the main course I was super full and then I had a bit too much dessert. Too busy working my characters blackmailing ways to take the time to measure my food. And yes, my character was the victim!
It was fun though! I'll probably go out running today and get rid of some of that weight, but I do believe my TOM tummy/weight is coming :yikes:

This morning, the scales jumped back up to 143.0, even though I was on plan yesterday and have been all week. Not happy! :tantrum:

I imagine tomorrow they may jump up again, since this weekend is our (Canadian) Thanksgiving and today I went to my parents’ house for dinner and ate turkey. No doubt I will pay dearly for that. Oh well, it was yummy turkey! :D

I visited the doctor on Friday, and they measured me... soooo didn't want that, because I somehow knew I wasn't 5'6 anymore. And I must have shrunk. I am in between 5'5 and 5'5.5 now. (I'm going with 5'5.5) But now my mini goals are wrong, and normal BMI is 152 instead of 154. Oh well, I guess its only two lbs, and I wasn't getting there until November anyway.

So I've been REALLY bad a personals this month. Shame on me

Tuscany - I'm sure you'll get a whoosh soon. It must be water weight from the turkey and you'll be back to your consistant .5 lb loss per hour :)

Jacqui - You're doing so amazing. Only two lbs left for the month. If I get stuck again I'm going to try the low carb thing, you have such great success on it.

Woodstock - congrats on seeing that 149, I know it'll be back around soon. I definately retain water after I start a new workout routine.

Southern - I seem to only lose in whooshes and maintain the rest of the time. I don't know if it is hormones... but I really only lose for about 6-8 days a month. Those days are great, but it can get discouraging the other 22 days of the month. Congrats on meeting GOAL!!!

Minneey - I made some apple crumble too the other day. It's so yummy and SOO fall, its hard not to make fun apple and pumpkin dishes this time of the year. Your dropping lbs like crazy!

183 - hope you feel better soon!

Sum - You are already so close to goal for the month and the 140s!!

Joy - my body got fixated on 165 for forever. Come on 76!!

Hoopty - sorry about the UTI, I'm sure once that completely clears up your body will go back down.

Rhiko - I hope it settles on the 64.7 today :) That murder mystery sounds really cool. I've always wanted to try one of those.

Well, I'm back up to 186. I guess my cheat day weight just decided to show up! Actually, I didn't drink enough water yesterday. I'll have to rectify that today.

Hoopty, UTI's are evil! I hope you feel better soon!

Minneey, congrats on being another lb down! :dancer:

Rhiko, your murder mystery dinner sounded like so much fun. I'm glad you had a great time! :mag:

Tuscany, my scale is misbehaving too. I think they may need a talking to! :club:

183, yay on the big drop!

Sum, woohoo on the new low! :yay:

Turtle, ugh, that's why I'm afraid of being measured again. I don't want to shrink! I've always had a swayed back (as can be seen in my 2nd photo in this thread: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chicks-up-challenge/288483-dear-me-do-not-open-before-march.html). If my spine were straighter, no doubt Id be an inch taller! I don't want to find out I may be even shorter! By the way, do they measure with your shoes on or off?

Good morning, all! Argh, these past few weeks have really been a struggle for me. We are in the process of moving and I've let calorie counting slide big time because I'm focused and distracted on other things.

I'm not drinking enough water (I was sick for a week, still came to work, and pounded coffee and pop for days to stay awake), and I'm not exercising a lot. I'm not going to weigh myself until October 31st because I'm sure I've done some damage.

I am going to go for a run tonight, paint some bedrooms tomorrow, and focus more on my eating and calories.

I hope everyone is doing GREAT!

Catching up with my posting my progress this morning! Two Turkey dinners on the thanksgiving weekend and the associated celebration have bumped me back up to the 150's, but I'm feeling good about it because 6 months ago, I would have done twice as much "damage" and would have been slow to get back on plan. Thanks everyone for the encouragement here, it is a really big part of staying motivated!

Hi everyone! This weekend I didnt choose my meal wisely. First off Myfamily and I went to a buffet for lunch I did choose healthy dishes and no bread or soda at all but I did have 3 plates yikes! That same night I had 4 beers at a get together and to top it off I had 3 slices of Pizza on Sunday. I felt horrible on Sunday night and was scares to get on the scale on Monday morning, so I decided I would work super hard during my zumba class monday and would weigh myself on tuesday morning. I was actually impressed to see that despite my bad choices I still lost one pound from last thursday.

Hello everyone,

Day 2 of being completely on plan! This past weekend was terrible. I ate so much junk food because it was my Dad's 70th birthday party. And guess what, it shows on the scale. 147.4 lbs yesterday morning + today. Ugh :( I'm gonna take it one pound at a time, what matters is that I've changed my mindset and I was able to eat healthily these past 2 days. I will follow up with exercise as well once I feel ready for it.

----

Turtle11 and Jacqui D - Thanks so much for the kind words and well wishes

Tuscany - Thank you  I see that you're trying to get out of the 140s as well - ugh, I hate them so much!! :tantrum:

Jacqui: The one (only?) good thing about my age is that I no longer have to worry about TOM! You’ll be back down to 185 before you know it.

Joy: Dear Whoosh Fairy: Joy and I WANT a whoosh…we NEED a whoosh…and gosh darn it, we DESERVE a whoosh!!

Minneey: Now you just give that pound #142 the heave-ho! Tell it, in no uncertain terms, that it is no longer welcome…

183StGB: I hope you feel better soon.

Woodstock: A belated Happy Thanksgiving to a fellow Canadian! I hope you also enjoyed the festivities. You’ll be back on track soon.

Sum: Every little bit counts.

B Fatter R: LOL! I’m glad to see you’re not losing your sense of humor…better luck with your next weigh in!

Campana: Glad to hear you weren’t penalized too heavily for your sins.

Hoopty: Good for you, getting right back on plan. I’ve been in the 140’s since the end of August…it’s taking forever to get into the 130’s! Although I expected it would become harder to lose weight as I got closer to goal.

Ouch, TOM is doing a number on me! I'm up another pound today, and that's after walking for hours and sticking to my diet during my town's pumpkin festival yesterday! No fun. Is it possible to gain weight just walking down the street smelling pumpkin pie, cake, ice cream, brownies, fudge, cookies, bread, doughnuts, etc.? Lol! Another OP day for me as well! I should start working out again, though. Haven't lifted any weights in almost 2 weeks, I think.
My Mom told me today that I had gained weight. And it wasn't the nice kind of way, you know. We were looking through pictures of this past weekend and I said that my hand looked fat in one of them. My mom just straight up said "that's because you gained weight" with that disgusted look, almost trying to spite me. Gah, that didn't feel good. But it motivated me even more to be healthy.

--

Tuscany - Tell me about it... I started out at 142 lbs in April, slowly made my way down to 137 lbs in mid-August and now I'm here, at 146.8 lbs this morning. It's the emotional eating and not being able to get back on plan that gets in the way every. single. time. I'm doing it to myself which is terrible but I am trying. Since we're the same height, too - how many calories do you consume and how often do you work out? I'm always curious about what other girls on here do.

Jacqui D - Thanks girl! TOM is always a pain in the boootay but I think water will definitely help flush the excess water out, though that just sounded really weird :D

Woodstock - Group whoosh? I'm all in! :)

Keep up the good work everyone else :)

Minneey: You have also been stuck for a while. I hope you get a whoosh soon!

183StGB: You continue to do well with your losses.

Woodstock: You’re back in the 140’s…way to go!

Sum: You’ll lose again soon.

Hoopty: My calories range from 1,200 to 1,400…it varies a bit from day to day, but I rarely go under 1,200 and rarely go over 1,400. As for exercise, I typically average about 90 minutes a day (mostly cardio). That said, I’m 55 years old, which I suspect is a lot older than you. At my age, I need to eat less and exercise more to lose the same amount of weight as someone younger.

Rhiko: Good luck getting back on track.

At this rate, in a couple of days, I'll weigh 190 again! :tantrum: The fact that I am being so good during our town's pumpkin festival makes it doubly unfair. Yes, I plan to load up on pumpkin treats on Saturday, my cheat day, but until then, I have been patiently sticking to plan, and that's while everyone around me is feeding their faces with heavenly pumpkin delights and devilish concession stand foods. Why this week, TOM? Why are you testing my patience this week? It turned cold yesterday, so I did make crockpot chili, and I ate two big bowls for lunch and dinner in an effort to stay warm, so it's possible the beans in it are causing me to hold additional water. But I also drank plenty of water yesterday, as well as two cups of green tea. Apparently that didn't help. I have gained 3.5 lbs in just 5 days! All I have to say is I had better have a BIG whoosh at the end of this torture! Not a baby whoosh :bb:, not a mama whoosh , but a BIG DADDY whoosh :wizard:!!! Rant over. Lol! :D

Good Morning all!! I see that it is slow going for many while others are doing fantastic! I just wanted to stop by and say that I have found that this site and you ladies are one of the main things that I need to stick to my diet. I have been super busy this week so I have not visited for several days. As a result I have eaten VERY badly!! I still exercised but its no where near where I was the last few weeks. I am dreading my weigh in tomorrow and will probably be up a few pounds. But I am back to it! I will visit daily again and I will get over this slump!! Thanks for listening;)

The late night mexican obviously isn't helping. Although I did have a chicken taco salad without the fried bowl and without sour cream. Its the chips and salsa that get me everytime. Does anyone ever refuse the free chips and salsa? I'm thinking about it for next time. And now I have lunch at Max & Ermas. I'll be chugging my lemon water all day and night. I want to be back in the 150s!!!!!

Rhiko: drink lots of water! I also recommend taking a look at why that happened and what you could do differently next time. Besides helping next time, that kind of evaluation helps me right now because it reminds me why I'm doing this and why I want to keep doing it.

Turtle11: We have refused the chips and salsa. I think others must do it as well, because some restaurants ask before bringing it now. Another trick that works for me is to say, "I'll have three chips and that's it." That works especially well if I put the three on the little plate and then push the basket far away on the table.

Woodstock: I love your observation that it feels liberating now, even though it didn't at the time. Just noticing that will make a difference, I think, in your ability to feel it in the moment.

You WILL get there, keep the Faith. It's trying time for me too, but I know that I'm eating better than I have most of my adult life, and some weeks can be up and others down, but the trend, even if it's slowly is "DOWN and to the right" which is what we need as dieters. (That would be tragic in the stock market of course! )

At least you still have your TOM, which could be some of the water weight you are experiencing. As I told you before, I don't even getta blame my TOM, I'm in menapause now, I think, because my Aunt Flo hasn't been seen at my house in well over a year.

You'll get there, and I'm here right beside you and if you didn't live several hours drive away, I'd switch MY cheat day to Saturday just so I could share your special day with you at the pumpkin festival.

Finally a move away from 142. Not exhaling yet in case it makes a nightmare return. Motivation to stay on plan this weekend is fear of returning to ghastly 142. Will celebrate more fully on Monday if I've seen the back of it.

Go Sum!! Wow! Well done... That's amazing

Hang in there Tuscany... Keep plodding away. Change is a coming...

Hoopty, your last post really touched me. Get those weights going. If you feel strong on the outside you'll feel more empowered and tough on the inside. My class instructor always shouts 'you are a machine!!' when my muscles are burning and I feel like my legs are going to explode...

Jacqui, you must be spitting feathers! What goes up must come down tho... Reckon it is only temp hiccup!

Willpower Woodstock - way to go! So hard to be disciplined at the time but that feeling of making a good decision is so much better than the binge/bad decision guilt right? Good advice on the measurements too - didn't take any and regretting it. Have some 'before' shots tho! Looking forward to November 1st and comparing!

Jacqui: I hope you get a mega-whoosh soon, so you’re back to where you were earlier in the week!

Joy & Minneey: Glad to see that both of you lost as well!

183StGB: Another nice loss…way to go!

Woodstock: Good for you, resisting the dangling carrot. For that, I shall give you a dancing carrot! :carrot:

Sum: Congratulations on making goal and on getting into the 140’s!!

Amanda: Good for you, recognizing your slip and getting right back at it!

Rhiko: Good luck getting back on track.

Thanks :)

Rhiko, just jump back on the wagon! It''ll be okay! :dust:

Thank you :) I'm not giving up!

Rhiko: drink lots of water! I also recommend taking a look at why that happened and what you could do differently next time. Besides helping next time, that kind of evaluation helps me right now because it reminds me why I'm doing this and why I want to keep doing it.

What happened was a Dominoes pizza lol It was meant to be my 'Yay, I made it to 65kgs' reward, but it turned into a nightmare instead. Lesson learned, trust me!
___

I weighed myself today and I'm down to 65.6 kgs. PHEW! I'm walking everywhere to make up for my slip up and hopefully I'll get into the 64s this month. Never.Doing.That.Again!

236.8, up almost 3 pounds:( Oh well I am sure some of that is water so I will just keep at it and try my hardest not to slip anymore for a while. I wont say never because I know they will happen but I will work hard. Its nice to know that I can come here and be honest and not be judged for my slips:)
Oh and I am NOT going to change my tickers because it will not stay up!

Tuscany - Yeah whoosh fairy!!! I knew she'd show up :D

Joy - I do like the chips, and I hate to deny anything regarding food, it makes me resent losing weight. I think I'll try your 3 chip rule, then push them to the other side of the table.

Jacqui - Stay Strong  It'll come off in a whoosh very soon. Did you add a new workout in? Sometimes you can retain water that way.

Minneey - yeah no more 141 :)

Rhiko - Dominos can be a killer. I actually have a list of non food related rewards. I'm trying not to associate food with anything other than fuel. (Its not totally working, but I'm trying)

healthytobe - Welcome !!

Southern - its probably water, drink a ton today. I like adding lemon and lime sometimes.

Sum - You are unbelievable this month!!!

Hoopty - Family can be the hardest sometimes with weight. They feel like they can be more "honest" because they are family. Do you lift heavy weights? I'm thinking about starting.

woodstock - Sounds very liberating. I do have a "control" problem, and feeling like I am in control of what I eat is important to me.

Hi Healthytobe! :welcome: Good to have you! :)

Yay Joy!! I'm so happy for you! :yay: You've worked hard and waited patiently for that 76! Great job! Love the new low! :carrot:

Tuscany, woohoo! fantastic on the 2 lb drop! :dancer:

Amanda, I'm with you. I never change my tickers to reflect up because unless I plan to quit (and I don't!) I know it's going to go back down where it should be, minus the water weight!

Turtle, glad to see you dropped back down! :cp: And I'm just walking. I've gone from walking a path to walking around town and walking to the Leslie Sansone videos, but still, it's just walking, so I don't think that's the reason. It's probably just a combination of TOM and the sodium in chili beans over the last few days.

183, hopefully that maintenance is just for today and then you'll be on the move down again! :crossed:

Woodstock, lol! I'm standing by! Good for you resisting temptation! :woohoo:

MrsKevin, you're so sweet! Thank you!

Minneey, yay! 141! Now run away quick! :running: (Other way, lol! >>>)

Rhiko, good job! Keep it going! :cheer:

Sum, you go, girl! :cb:

So, I'm down half a lb today. I'll take it. I hope it continues over next week, but tomorrow is cheat day and as reluctant as I am now to go through with it, the pumpkin festival is here only once a year, and I've waited patiently all week for this cheat day, so I'm using it. I probably just won't go as crazy as I had hoped to. I'll have to pick and choose my absolute favorite pumpkin treats to indulge in! :T

I dropped another 1.5 lbs this morning, although I’m not sure it was real. Normally I weigh myself when I first get up, which is about 6 am. This morning, I didn’t get up until 8:30 am, since I’m still sick and taking medication that makes me groggy. So, I suspect some, if not all, of my 1.5 lb loss was due solely to weighing much later than normal this morning. We’ll see whether or not this loss sticks tomorrow morning.

Woodstock & 183StGB: No change is better than a gain!

yesterday's calories: 1800
yesterday's exercise: 10k
today's weigh-in: 82.2kg (181.1lbs)
change: +2.6kg (+5.6lbs)

like seriously? I couldn't gain this much in a day if I tried.
Wherever this came from, I hope it's gone just as quick.

On a happy note, I'm back to running after 3 weeks basically without. I ran 10k yesterday - 20minutes slower than the last time I did that distance on 9/29, but I was glad I was able to pull through.
I went on my 'hard' track this morning, it's really steep uphill, and it was so foggy I couldn't see more than 5m, but it was really relaxing and fall makes everything look so pretty. I'm Feeling sore now, but it let's me know I did something :)

Jacqui_D yay pumpkin Festival!! :P
