Good morning chicks!
:chicken:
the troops are on their way to 6 Flags, so I will spend some time catching up on things around here. Including getting the fridge cleaned out and restocked. :) There is too much junk food around!
We've had lots of veggies and fruit that have been consumed! I'll replace some of this junkie stuff with more healthy things today.

DH brought home his catch of Albacore yesterday, we're looking forward to enjoying that!

Hope this is a great week for all of you!

Hiya guys, everything has been so hectic, and I haven't made the time to check in. I weighed in this morning at 212, so I'm definitely trudging along. I quit WW Online and decided to go back to eDiets --I like the choice in my menus.

I moved bird cages around, and then I went over to a friend's and they were tossing an exercise cycle! So, I lugged it home but by the time I got there, my husband had done yet more re-arranging and I lost the spot I had cleared and was hoping to fill with this cycle. So, it sits in the front yard. But, every couple of mornings I go out and climb on it and cycle away while the chickens look at me like I'm daft. :D (I should add that we're on 6 hidden acres, so I could go out and ride stark nekkid if I wanted and nobody would ever see me.)

I'm going to try my best to stick around, I really think the motivation on this board is really helpful. I hope everyone is doing great! I'm going to go now and look back over the posts I've missed (which is a lot.)

Good morning!
Sure is quiet around here!
KELLY, glad you are back! I always enjoy your posts.
Now don't be shocking those chickens by your wild antics!

I took a quick overnight trip to see Mother and let dgd visit her before she goes in the USAF next month, and for her sister and husband to see her, and tell about their time in the gulf war.
We all had a short sweet visit. Mother really appreciated their visit.
The kids are busy trying to cram everything into the last few days. I think the beach is on the schedule for today. They have wanted to go since they have been here from OK, but we had the 'June gloom' for 3 weeks, which just broke yesterday, so is decent wam weather for them. They have to go back home on Saturday.

I forgot to tell you about the tuna we cooked last night..dh brought home a catch of tuna, (nice white meat Albacore) we baked some last night, spraying it with 'Can't believe it's not butter', and sprinkling with lemon pepper and dill. Was delish.
Linda told me that had done it someting like that .
so had to try it out.

Good morning, ladies! I rejoined WW yesterday and have been rereading the materials to refresh my memory about the program. I had an OP day yesterday and so far today have only had 2 points, hooray, I'm on my way! :)

JOYce shared some of her DH's catch with us -- it was the best fish we'd ever eaten, so fresh. Love that albacore is so low in points. Hey, JOYce, good idea to put ICBINB spray on the fish rather than chips of butter, as I did, I'll do that next time.

Kelly, good for you for hauling that freebee exercycle home! I have a treadmill and need to spend a lot more time on it than I currently do -- for how long do you ride? I'm just barely getting back in to exercising, so I am taking it pretty slowly to start out, I am such a wimp at this point. Glad you are back and posting -- I had been off the thread for over a year I think, but am now back. It makes a diff to have the support of each other here. Keep cycling!

Hi everyone:

Was up 1/2# this week. Had 2 birthdays & a wedding but have to plan a little better for those things in the future.

Hope you have a great OP week.

Bye for now, Gail.

Mind if I join in? I am on WW go to meetings and do etools. I started on Jan. 20th and down 40.2 this past weigh in. I just was able to buy a pair of Tommy shorts and happy as can be.

Single mom of one son. He is the love of my life.

Well let me know if you have room for one more.

Bluvsu2, welcome! I think you'll find this a very supportive group. Wow, you have lost so much since January, I am very impressed. When you said you do the "e-tools," do you mean that you joined WW online, as well as going to the meetings? I will be awaiting tips and suggestions from you in regards to your great sucess so far, please do share with us. :)

I had another OP day today -- that's three in a row since I rejoined! I feel like I'm on a roll, and am looking forward to next Wednesday when I have my WI.

Bandit2, if you had two birthdays and a wedding this past week and managed to be up only .5, I think that is pretty good--give yourself a pat on the back! Keep up the good work.

Well, I actually purchased protein powder and wheatgerm yesterday... nonfat vanilla yogurt, soy milk, and several bags of frozen fruit. Can we say "Smoothie"? Unfortunately, when I got home I realized we didn't have a blender. How idiotic is that? Breakfast was a very uninspiring vanilla yogurt with some blackberries on top. I think, however, that this is a good excuse for a smoothie machine.

(Giggling...) Kelly, how funny that you now have everything you need to make smoothies except the blender part! Your purchases sound like a really good idea. Will you subsitute a meal here and there with the protein smoothie? I've never tried one, and wonder how they taste/feel in the mouth. I keep wheat germ in the freezer and try to remember to add about 1/2 cup of it to the flour when I make bread. How's the in-place cycling going? Is it cool enough outside to hop onto the bike?

I rode for about a whole 5 minutes this morning before giving up. We're supposed to have a high of 103-109 today. UGH. I need to get out there at o'dark thirty, but even then it is like 70 and miserable.

Well, thank goodness for pay days and cell phones! Larry brought home a smoothie maker but the verdict is still out. Had some leaking problems but it may have been a fluke. I was so excited to make smoothies that I forgot to use the protein powder, wheat germ OR ice! But the banana/strawberry smoothies came out good anyway.

I'll keep you updated on the Great Smoothie Escapade. My husband won't eat vegetables, so I think this will be a good way for me to get them without having to fix them for myself. Hopefully these will be a good breakfast replacement, and I even found a recipe for a "salad" smoothie that might turn out really good.

What's is a salas smoothie and even better, have you tried it? Is it good? I'm not really a vegie person either. One can only eat so many salads, carrots and celery sticks.....

By the way... I snuck in a "weigh" this morning although my official weigh-in isn't until Tuesday and I weighed in at 207!!!!!

Kelly , that is wonderful that you have lost so much weight -- here's hoping that at your "official" WI you will have the same results! Good for you, keep it up. :)

Had our DD and DSIL over for dinner last night, and I was able to stay within my range, thanks to a banked 10 points from the past few days. I don't feel as though I have lost any; my second WI this coming Wednesday will tell.

KellyQ
06-29-2003, 03:58 PM
That is sure the truth. Sneakie Peekies are not always what they're cracked up to be. On one hand, they can let you know that you need to shape up a little, but they can also discourage the heck out of you when you do your Official WI and the loss isn't as good as you thought it was (or you actually GAIN.) 5 pounds is kind of a lot, and may be more of a fluke than anything. I know I drink a lot more water when it is this hot. Yesterday's high was 106 (Friday was 109 --no wonder we lost a budgie.) I feel like I spent the entire day walking around hosing off birds.

Thank goodness for banked points! I like to start my days off with low points, in case something really good comes up for dinner :D

Kelly, I'm sorry about your budgie, it sounds like it has been like a furnace where you live. I'm the same way about starting the day off with as few points as I can; my breakfasts are usually only 2 points' worth. We are having hot days too, but nowhere near what you are experiencing. Keep drinking your water -- it sounds like you are doing a good job anyway! We go through 2 gallons a day, I drink all of the time (even take my water bottle into the grocery store with me), I love water (the filtered kind, that is, can't stomach tap water); always have.

thanks for the warm welcome.

Today was weigh in. Down 3.6 so I am now at 212. Man 199.8 (which is my labor day goal is so close)

Etools-is offered to people who do meetings. I go to meetings on Sunday. It gives me an online journal, points calculators, recipe builder etc. I love it.

Sorry not to reply to everyone. I will in time.

I will be gone on Vacation Thurs to Monday!! Can't wait.

total lost 43.8

Hi Kelly! Great to see you again! Glad things are going so well for you! WTG on the exercycle thing; I can't imagine exercising outdoors here in Texas right now, and with the heat wave you're having, I don't know how you do it. WTG on the five pound loss; I'm sure you'll show a great official loss too. I'm so sorry to hear about your budgie; 109 degrees, wow, that's incredible.

JOYce, glad you had a nice visit with your Mother! Your tuna recipe sounds delicious; will have to try that soon.

Hi Michelle! Re: veggies, have you tried salads with grilled chicken, salmon, shrimp, or steak and/or cheese & nuts? They make a meal in themselves, and with a homemade vinaigrette, can be very low in points.

Linda, WTG on the OP days, and esp. on staying OP through a dinner with company; that's always difficult for me.

Someone mentioned feeling hungry on program ... have you tried upping your protein? Lately, we've been having protein of some kind at every meal, and it really helps. Eggbeaters omelettes are especially filling, with mushrooms or other veggies, lowfat cheese, etc.

Gail, I agree with Linda, going up only a half pound after two birthdays and a wedding is a victory, really!

Bluvsu2, welcome to the group! Wow, over 40 pounds down in such a short time, you rock! And congrats on the 3.6 down this week!

Hi Carol! Good to see you! Let us know how things are going out in Florida ... my DS says y'all have had some lovely weather in between t-storms.

DH and I are back from vacation and just puttering around the house, unpacking and such. Had a terrific time on the Maine coast, Quebec City, Montreal, and Lake Winnepisaukee (sp?) in NH. It got SUPER hot (over 100 and humid) the last week, but we're kinda used to that anyway. We didn't stay perfectly OP by any means, but I don't think we did TOO much damage; will weigh tomorrow morning for the verdict. Have started damage control today!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Hi to Janet, Texaslady and Hottie!

Regards,
Jan

Jan, thanks (as usual) for your great enthusiasm regarding my being able to stay OP...you are *still* our #1 cheerleader on the board. Welcome home, your trip sounds wonderful. I'm always glad when you can check in when you travel and give us reports on your days.

Bluvsu2, I am very impressed with your weight loss, also -- you are closer than ever to your next goal! Labor Day is still quite a while away, you can do this, keep posting on the board and we'll all support each other. Are you exercising? That is something that is so hard for me to make myself do. I really need to change my way of thinking and get on the treadmill every single day. Where are you going on your vacation? Have a wonderful time!

Michelle, welcome to the group! Fortunately, I really like vegetables, and like you, am always on the lookout for good recipes and/or ways to get them into my menus. I wrote down Jan's good ideas for salads -- I hadn't thought of making more meals from "big" salads, complete with protein. The only thing is, I really don't like nonfat or lowfat dressings, so I have been measuring out a few points' worth of favorite (regular) dressings and then just dipping my fork into it.

I told JOYce today that now that I am OP again, I am realizing just how much I used to eat -- and also realizing that I can do just as well with less. All we have to do is DO it, right?:dizzy:
