September is a great month for setting goals and meeting challenges as things gear up for fall. What are your weight loss goals for the coming month?

State your goal and track it throughout the month with a supportive and encouraging group. We will compile our goals into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration. Woohoo!

For fitness related goals, check out our sister thread: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chicks-up-challenge/286966-september-exercise-challenge.html

This is my favorite thread, so I'm definitely in again. I will be in Europe for 2 weeks in September, during which time I hope to maintain. In the other 2 weeks, I hope to lose 1.5-2.0 lbs each week, which translates into 3-4 lbs for the month of September. This morning, I was 147.75. So, I'll shoot for 3.75 lbs, which would put me at 144.0 lbs by the end of the month. I'll be very happy to get down into the lower half of the 140's!

I want to enter a new weight decade by the end of the month. So my goal will be almost 7 pounds for the month. A little ambitious but since I still have a lot to lose it should be doable. As long as the scale knows how I will punish it if it doesn't cooperate, all will be good.

Let's get 'er done.

:welcome: Sara! You're doing it right! As we go along, you can keep updating your weight loss progress on the first post that you just made by editing it each time, or you can do as most of us do and create new post(s) each day to update your progress. You'll see, we're a chatty group, lol! :gossip: By creating new posts, we can easily keep up with each other's progress and support each other along the way. If you just edit your first post, we might miss your updates. Do what feels comfortable for you though! Good luck!

:welcome: Bridget! Good luck!

So happy for all the returning chicks and it's great to see the newbies! :cb:

I just wanted to share this as we start this month's weight loss challenge. Someone posted this pic on another thread and I responded to it. How much fat was in that hand really struck me, and so I combined the pic and my response to it into a collage, resized it to 1280 x 768 and set it as my computer background. Now I am constantly reminded, each and every day when I reach for my computer, that every single pound really matters!

Here I was wanting to be 63-4 kgs by my b'day tomorrow (Sept 2), but no. I've been stuck on 66.7 kgs for 6 weeks now, even with my running and cutting back on foods (because I fell off the band wagon for a while). Before that, I was stuck on 67.8 kgs for 2 months. Well, long story short, I just want to lose this month. :(

I screwed up majorly this past week and my weight crept back up into the 120s. But what's done is done and I'm ready to get back on track and do really well this month. My goal is to be 110 by end of September. 12 lbs seems like a lot to lose in a month but I believe my recent gain is mostly water weight. Excited about this challenge, good luck everyone!

I'm using yesterday's weight of 195 lbs as my official start weight for September since I knew I would be up today because of my Saturday cheat day. I gained 1 1/2 lbs, so I'll be drinking lots of water today and hopefully that will flush back out in the next couple of days! Starting off with a bang, lol!

:welcome: to all the new monthly weight loss challengers!

Rhiko, I adore your avatar pic! I look at it and find myself saying, "Awww." It's just so sweet! So, you say you cut back on foods. Is it possible that you cut too far back on calories considering you're a runner? Or is it just right now?

SHTeacher, I hit Onederland just recently in August, so I'm excited for you! You are going to do it this month!

Chunkie, if you've only been off plan for a week, you'll drop that weight again in no time!

Changer, how wonderful for you! I hope you enjoy your Philippines birthday break!

Have decided that Sundays will be my weigh-in day -- never tried that particular day before, so why not? Maybe the thought of it looming over me will keep me in check Saturday night! My weight this morning was: 191.6. Sincerely hope to get off at least 15 pounds during this two-month challenge -- but 20 would be better. At my age, however, I know that won't be easy. Good luck to all you chickies out there!

Rhiko, I adore your avatar pic! I look at it and find myself saying, "Awww." It's just so sweet! So, you say you cut back on foods. Is it possible that you cut too far back on calories considering you're a runner? Or is it just right now?

Sorry, I wasn't specific (which is not unusual of me lol). I got back into the habit of eating a block of chocolate per 2 weeks (actually, I think it was once a week?) and other bad foods like that. I've stopped looking at them in the supermarket again and wanting to have them. Also, because I'm still not losing after all the running I've done post-chocolate, I'm thinking it's my portion sizes that are getting too big again. Though, I'm not a fan of eating regularly anyway, so bigger portions mean I get to my calories lol

Thanks for liking my avatar. :D That's my cat Neko :) The inspiration for my pseudonym Rhiko. Rhiannon (my first name) plus Neko.

Finally my threatening of the scale paid off. It complied. Apparently it knows it was in big trouble if it didn't.

Jacqui_D, scales are lying liars who lie so I wouldn't put it past them to be conspiring.

j0ndysse, as a new member of onederland, we'll be happy for you to join us here.

Sum38, way to start the month!

Changergirl, I hope you get your whoosh soon too!

Tuscany, that whoosh fairy needs to get a move on as they have a lot of stops.

gardenerjoy, I'll send your scale some threatening glares.

You might have this thread mixed up with the Fall challenge, which is being hosted by Cleancowgirl. Of course, you're more than welcome to join us as well...we'd love to have you...but the mixup might explain why you can't find your prior post!

Tuscany I'm crazy busy! I don't get as much time to be on here as I used to. Between work, school, and public transportation to both I've been pulling 14 hour days. When I come home it's time to do homework. Luckily I had a bit more time today.

9/1 - 156.5
9/2 - 157 <-- I ate a LOT today. More because I DRANK a lot today. I used to be a heavy weight. I could drink a lot before feeling drunk. Now between weight loss and dieting I am a light weight. I went to happy hour with my best friends today and I drank 2 cocktails (one being rather large!). I knew full well I was tipsy bordering on drunk and so I drew the line and drank no more. I'm not used to that!! I don't drink much as it is, it costs too much and I just don't like drinking by myself, so I only drink maybe 4 times a year. I'm gonna feel gross tomorrow!! Not even from the alcohol (I've been drink tons of water since) but from all the fried crap I ate!!! Tomorrow I will be pleased to be back eating healthier.

Today was the last meal that I am eating out for a while. Friday had breakfast with a friend had 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, hash browns and two pancakes. With syrup of course. Saturday had lunch at Chili's and got something from their lighter menu but it had my WHOLE days worth of sodium in it!!! Holy Moly!!! Then today went to lunch for my little sisters birthday and had a burger no cheese and like 10 french fries! So for me I did fairly good eating out. Have my middle of the week weigh in tomorrow. Not looking forward to it!

Joy: Poor misunderstood little scale. Have you ever noticed how we always congratulate ourselves when the weight comes off, yet we blame the poor scale when it doesn't? Perhaps if we were a little nicer to the scale, it might be nicer to us. :D Of course, if that doesn't work, I'll be more than happy to scare it into submission!

Stay Puft: Shhh….I'm going to be verrrry quiet so as not to disturb your scale, since it's being really nice to you right now. So, I shall simply whisper: "nice loss"…

Jacqui: I hope you get back to 195 very soon!

Leah: I remember how tired I was when I was going to school and working as well, even though that was a long time ago. I hope you're able to find a bit of time to exercise. Glad you enjoyed Labor Day with your friends and that you're planning on getting right back to healthy eating!

Cheeriloos: Pizza plus ice cream will do it everytime. I’m glad to hear you had a good day yesterday. Keep it up (the good days…not the ice cream and pizza!)

Pixi: You must learn to be stronger!

Sum: You're moving in the right direction!

chunkie: Down 3 lbs so far…you're off to a terrific start!

Hi ladies, I can't believe this already has 6 pages!! I had so much fun reading everyone's posts. I'm back from the woods and gained some weight. I went for a 2 hour intense hike. We climbed to the top of a mountain, off path, over/under fallen trees, through brush. It was awesome! I was hoping that that would counteract any additional calories I might have eaten. Along with trying to stick to smaller portions and cleaner food but it appears it isn't the case. I think I'm going to have to re-evaluate what my food looks like on days I would "maintain".

My goal this month is to see the 150s It is a smaller goal than the last two months, but this is a busy month with anniversaries, birthdays and camping. So I'm going with 6 lbs.

Its so much fun to think how much smaller you will be if you hit your goal or get close by the end of the month :)

Good morning!

Yes, I am working on being stronger. When I was successful before it was when I lived on my own. My husband and I are trying to work on encouraging each other to not cheat but some days it just swings the other way entirely :dizzy:

Thanks for sending the woosh fairy this way cheerilos! She helped out quite a bit this morning, hopefully she comes back tomorrow morning as well lol

Turtle it sounds possible that the hiking and whatnot has you retaining water, not the food necessarily. Give your body a couple days to reach equilibrium and then decide if it was the food or not :) Either way I am glad you had a great time!

Tuscany I try to be nice to my scale... it works sometimes lol

Hi ladies! I would like to join if that's ok. I was part of 3FC a few years ago and I'm back after having my daughter a year ago. Now that I'm done breastfeeding I don't need extra calories, so I'm ready to hit it hardcore.

I do tend to do well and then self-sabotage, so I'm hoping to work through a lot of emotions in a healthy way.

I don't have a specific goal for September other than seeing the scale drop, but my goal overall is to lose 30 pounds by Christmas and I'm going to be calorie counting.

I weighed in this morning at 207.6 and there's nowhere to go but down from here!

Joy, switching from 1/2 to 1/3 cup sounds like a smart plan. I hope it works for you this time around as well!

Turtle, glad you're back and that you had an awesome trip!

Pixikat, congrats on the drop! :cp: That is so wonderful that your DH and you are supportive of each other. I feel sorry for the chicks whose spouses are not in their corner and even worse for the ones whose spouses actually sabotage their progress! My DH is not on a diet, but he is very supportive of my diet, and he even walks with me in the mornings. I think I'll keep him. :D

Hi Emme! :welcome: BACK! We will help keep you on the right path! All you have to do is keep coming here and posting so we'll know how you're doing! You might want to think of setting a small goal for September, maybe like 2 lbs, and that way you'll have something to shoot for short-term. If you meet it early, you can reset your goal for the month and try for more lbs. Or maybe you want to go ahead and try for something like 5-10 lbs right off the bat! As long as you stay on plan, you should lose some weight this month! Good luck!

Tray, smart move with the more modest goal!

Stay Puft: Thanks! You're doing great as well!

cheeriloos: That's a really good loss considering you had pizza the day before!

Jacqui_D: Haha trust me, I still look 'chunkie' (my body shape is similar to Hilary Duff's, heavier upper body which makes me look bigger than how much I weigh.) Well, the whoosh fairy came and went... no loss for me today. Perhaps she's on her way to you! ;)

No change for me this morning, but that’s better than a gain…at least yesterday’s whoosh appears to be sticking!

Turtle: Hi Greyhound! Glad you enjoyed the woods. I suspect the weight gain is water retention from your intense hike. Good luck getting into the 150's this month! If you're anything like me, these next few months will be a fun time for you. When I lost 25 lbs (going from 190 to 165), I noticed a difference and dropped a size or two, but nothing to truly write home about. But when I lost the next 15 lbs (going from 165 to 150)...holy smokes...it made a HUGE difference. I’ve been amazed at how much more noticeable the weight loss becomes the more you lose.

Jacqui: I'm constantly drinking water…but always with my Mio. I love the lemon, strawberry and pomegranate.

Stay Puft: Another little loss…my goodness, your scale is behaving itself these days. Good for you!

Joy: It's amazing how small changes like your 1/2 vs. 1/3 cup idea can often make a big difference. Good luck!

cheeriloos: Good for you…back on track! Now you need to pretend you're the Eveready Bunny…'cause it keeps on going and going and going…

Pixi: Glad to see you back in the 240's. I can understand why dieting with DH might be both a positive and a negative, depending on the day!

Leah: I hope you return to below 157 very soon.

Tray: Hi again…nice to see you back. You'll soon be in a new decade. That's exciting!

SouthernBell: That’s not too bad considering the past few days. I hope the whoosh fairy visits you soon.

Cincorn: Hi and welcome back. I hope you quickly lose your recent re-gain.

Rheko: Any loss is better than a gain! I saw your earlier posts about your cat. My daughter also has a cat called Neko, although her cat is a male. I understand Neko means “cat” in Japanese, which I’m sure you know. I have two little fluffballs: Muffs and Abby. They’re a lot of fun!

Welcome to Emme, Angelique & RachelAnne! I wish you luck in meeting your September goals.

I know. I'm just disappointed in myself for letting my weight loss slip for 2 months. If I hadn't stopped, I would have been 62-3 kgs by now. But hey, as you say, it's better to stay positive!
Yeah, I was learning Japanese when I got her as a kitten (almost 9 years ago) and I couldn't figure out a name for her. After a few days, out came 'Neko' lol :D Cats are fun, especially as kittens!

Jacqui_D, hopefully the whoosh fairy will visit you soon.

gardenerjoy, nice scoop trick. Getting used to what human portions are is still a little difficult for me. I mean how can it be a portion of spaghetti when there is so much room left on the plate? :D

Turtle11, oooh the 150s. What a great way to start the fall season.

pnkrckpixikat, nice drop yesterday.

Emme, nobody ever sabotages us as well as we do ourselves. You'll just have to post when you start feeling like straying from the path and let others talk you down.

TrayTeam, thats a good goal.

Angelique32, welcome. Lots of birthdays this month. Popular month for fabulous people to be born. Nice loss!

RachelAnne, welcome! Consistency is hard but you can do it.

SouthernBell02, I didn't like weighing in the evening as my weight fluctuates more. I hope you get your whoosh today.

Rhiko, yep. A loss is better than a gain or just sticking.

Stay Puft~ I weigh in the evenings because it is technically my morning since I work overnights. I usually don't get a full 8hours of sleep at once my average amount of sleep for the past month using my Fitbit is about 6 hours a day/night. But I figure if I weigh at the same time every time then Ill get a pretty accurate number.

Well I lost a little bit of the gain. I also upped my workout yesterday and my muscles are screaming this morning, so I'm sure some water is going to stick around.

Thanks for the welcome back jacqui!

Tuscany - I have probably lost about 1.5 sizes in 20 lbs, I thought it would be more a little more. At 186 I was in some size 16s and most of my 14s were getting tight. I'm now back into some of my 12s and my 14 are probably too loose. You must be so excited for your trip, its only a few days away! I traveled a little in Europe, mostly England and France, I would LOVE to go back. The culture, architecture, and people are so different and fascinating. I remember walking a ton, so your hard work all summer will definately pay off.

Pixi - Well I conveniently did forget to mention the cake I baked for the weekend.... I love baking but it has made my waistline expand. When I can bake for a group so I don't eat the whole batch, I do it :) However I did have a couple servings.

Stay Puft - I would really love to see a 15 sometime this month. I think it might be a reach but I hit goal two months in a row, sooo... I'm definately going to try and make it three.

garden - thanks for adding me and congrats on the down tic.

4 days into the challenge and I am down 4 lbs :) My appetite is waxing and waning and I am having hot flashes followed by cold flashes, which are usually signs of my thyroid going wonky. Have to have labs redone in 2 weeks so as long as I am losing weight I am not going to be overly concerned about my "symptoms".

Emme: welcome back! you can totally do this, you've got this like it is nothing!

Turtle: yay for loss! I also love to bake but thankfully, I don't really like baked goods. I like homemade candy...I only make it for the holidays though!

Gardener: Hope that loss brings a crowd in the next few days :)

Lovely: that is an awesome loss! I have found water is critical for me as well!

SeaUrchin: I understand the challenges of the weekend. Sunday, my husband's family all wanted to go to a buffet restaurant for lunch. I just refused to look at anything besides the salad bar and rotisserie chicken. I am a very visual eater so small portions leave me wanting. I do better eating unlimited amounts of veg because it tricks my mind into thinking I am eating a lot.

Cheerilos: great loss so far :)

Hm, well, I must have made 196 too welcome, lol, because it's certainly wanting to stick around. I'd really like to have the 195 back, or even better, 194. I started examining if I'm doing anything to cause my weight to stay up, and nope. I had my usual cheat day, but I didn't go overboard on it. I'm walking each day. I drank some water the day before yesterday, but loads of it yesterday. My portions have been good. I'm thinking maybe my hormones might be a little haywire. (2 TOMs last month might be a clue, lol!) Oh well, at least I'm not gaining!

:welcome: RachelAnne! Sounds like you have a solid plan!

SouthernBell, oh good, that wasn't a bad gain at all!

Rhiko, I agree, a loss is a loss!

Chunkie, nope, the whoosh fairy bypassed my house last night. Maybe tonight! :D

Tuscany, it's just a matter of time and your scale will be on the move again!

Seaurchin, looks like you are due for the whoosh fairy!

Angelique, good drop! :cp:

Puft, good job! :dancer: My scale's being stubborn, unfortunately.

Cheeri, looking good!

I'm voting for your hormones. I'm one of those weird people who gains during ovulation, not during TOM. This is what I remember from when I used to calorie count a few years ago. Maybe your body is doing something like that.

Tray, hang in there!

Emme, it's very likely that it's hormones, although it could be that I'm just not used to holding on to my cheat day weight for this long (unless I'm at a set point) and I'm growing impatient, lol! By the way, I just clicked on the link in your signature to your original goal story and pics, and WOW! The transformation is spectacular! I have no doubt that this time around, after having your baby, you are going to do it again! How inspiring you are! All my friends believe I'm 5'9", although I've always thought I was 5'8", and to get an idea by looking at your pics of what it might look like not to be overweight anymore just makes me want to stick to this path even more! I've been a little worried about what I might look like after losing all this weight, and although I'm 52 now and my body probably won't hold up as well as yours, your after-pics help to take a little of my fear away. They are fantastic! Thank you for sharing your story!

Down 1 lb today... 2 more to go before I reach my low of 116 :)

Tuscany: You're right, at least there's no gain! Hope the scale moved in the right direction for you today!

Jacqui_D: That darn whoosh fairy had better worked her magic on you (and Tuscany) yesterday! Btw ladies, I had an extra 2 glasses of water yesterday, maybe that helped in my 1 lb loss. Will drink the same today and monitor...

Angelique32: My scale gives me different numbers sometimes so I always weigh a few times then settle on the number that comes up the most.

Seems like everyone's doing great! Let's keep up the good work!

Only three more days until I leave for Europe…can’t wait! As promised, I finally got around to posting pictures in the mini-goal forum. The pics were taken by me with my blackberry, so they’re a little fuzzy, but they’ll have to do. My daughter is an amateur photographer, and I’ll get her to take some better pictures when I’m in Italy and the U.K. I’m so excited to see her again! As for my weight, I’m moving in the wrong direction this morning… hopefully that will reverse shortly:

SW (A31): 147.75
S1: 148.00 (+0.25)
S2: 148.00 (0.00)
S3: 146.75 (-1.25)
S4: 146.75 (0.00)
S5: 147.75 (+1.00)

GW (S30): 144.00

Turtle: Glad to see you’re almost back to your SW. I’m really looking forward to my trip. I know we’ll do lots of walking, and I hope that will compensate for the few extra calories I might consume upon occasion.

Jacqui: I hope you get back to 195 soon. As for height, I was 5’ 7” in high school. I measured myself a few months ago, only to discover I’d shrunk, all the way down to 5’ 5”.

Stay Puft: Great month so far…keep up the good work!

Joy: Along with the aunts, uncles, grandparents and all those “once removed”…

cheeriloos: 2 lbs so far this month…great progress!

Pixi: Thanks for asking about my trip. I can’t wait to see my daughter and her fiancé again. Just a few more days!

Leah: Yes, it’s amazing how much water affects our weight.

Tray: Your numbers will be going down once again very soon.

Sum: You’re doing really well this month…way to get back on track!

chunkie: Another loss…that’s terrific. I’m very happy for you.

seaurchin: Maintaining through the holidays is better than gaining.

Emme: It always takes me a few days to get over the hunger associated with cutting calories, but it’s not too bad once those initial few days pass. These days, whenever I feel hungry but know I shouldn’t eat, I grab my water and drink instead, which helps to keep my tummy happy.

Tavvy: 4 lbs down already…that’s wonderful!

Rheko: Instead of thinking “If I hadn’t stopped, I would have been”, it’s much more fun to think: “If I keep going, I soon will be….” :)

Angelique: If your scale is fluctuating, it might need new batteries. In addition, when you weigh daily, you’re going to find that some days you lose and some days you gain. The gains are just fluctuations in water weight. Our body retains water for all sorts of different reasons…here are some examples: (1) eating foods high in sodium (which would include low calorie things such as soup); (2) beginning a new exercise program that makes us feel sore…the body retains water to help repair our muscles; (3) it’s humid outside, which will also cause water retention; (4) not drinking enough fluids, which will cause our body to retain water to compensate; (5) hormones and/or your menstrual cycle, which can cause large fluctuations in water retention; and, (6) all sorts of other reasons! So, if you’re going to weigh daily, you need to ignore the daily fluctuations and concentrate on the overall trends. So far, in only two days, you have lost a half pound, and that’s great!

mjmelwel: Welcome and good luck with your September goal!

nitrus: Welcome and good luck reaching ONEderland!

Turtle11

Sum - thats awesome, you're going to have to get into a bonus round goal

cheeriloss - you are totally killing that scale.

Emme - Awesome job, I've actually found that if I can differentiate hunger from needing food, and tell myself it is just the fat screaming, I stay on track. (you don't want to be toooo hungry!!)

tavvy - I WISH i didn't like baked goods. Growing up the family had a bakery, so I guess it runs in the family. Luckily my mother made some good decisions and said my dad couldn't bring his work home, so we were all pretty healthy.

jacqui - These setpoints are killing us!! I'm stuck on the 6 too!! Hopefully today you went down :)

Pixi - I try not to keep baked goods in the house either in the house either. You are so right about the water. I sometimes have to remind myself to drink more.

Angeliquie - I'm sure its water weight, you'll probably get a whoosh in a few days.

chunkie - congrats on the 1 lb!!! Thats has to be really hard when you are closer to goal.

Tuscany - You might hit goal before you even leave :)

I'm definately not going to measure my height, because I'm probably closer to 5 5.5" and that would lower my normal BMI that I want to get to.

mjmelwel~ Welcome!! This thread it hopping. Its going to be a great month!
Tuscany~ I am super jealous of your trip coming up! I hope you have a great time with your daughter!

First time I have done this in the month of having it!!! YAY ME! Will have weekly weigh in tomorrow! Hopefully it shows:)

Southern AWESOME JOB on meeting all your fitbit goals! I hope it becomes a new trend and helps with the scale.

angelique I agree that the scale may need new batteries. As to the fluctuation up, Don't stress about it! Unless you ate you maintenance cals AND an additional 1000-3500 (depending on which number is right) there is no possible way that you gained weight. As Tuscany said, there are many reasons the body will fluctuate. Try not to focus on each day's number as much as the fact that the trend is overall downward. Celebrate new lows, yes, but don't stress the bumps up unless you went crazy with food.

Keep up the good work everyone! :)

Not a great morning for me. Forgot to eat breakfast before I left. Then it was so muggy outside. Just miserable. Made me sweaty and yucky. Still I did my planned walk which made me hungry. Not sure if actual hunger or that faux hunger that comes with realizing I forgot to eat.

At least I didn't cheat. Although I did stare longingly at the vending machine. That scale better show me some respect tomorrow or I may throw it into the vending machine. ;)

seaurchin, congrats on keeping the portions small. Thank goodness there aren't anymore holidays for me until the dreaded Halloween.

SouthernBell02, good to know. I used to work 3rd shift so I know the weirdness of it. As an insomniac it actually worked for me a little. Great job with your flex. And those were some lofty goals you achieved!

LovelyLeah, all hail water!

pnkrckpixikat, nice!

gardenerjoy, yes a family reunion of losses on the scale!

Emme, sorry about your hunger. When I cut my portions it definitely was a couple of days of hunger before I settled down. Hope you feel better.

Turtle11, crossing my fingers for 3 months of goals in a row for you. That would be fantastic! Not measuring my height either. I can't take the risk of losing any more inches.

tavvy, wow 4 lbs in 4 days is incredible!

Jacqui_D, I will threaten your scale for you. Perhaps even shake an angry fist of fury at it menacingly. You are stronger than those hormones so you'll just have to hunker down and wait them out. Easier said than done sometimes, but you can do it.

TrayTeam, lots of time left in the month to make it happen.

mjmelwel, good to have you here with us!

nitrus29, what a great goal! You will do it!

Sum38, wow! Everything else you lose this month will just be a fantastic bonus.

cheeriloos, look at you go. You are melting away!

Angelique32, weight fluctuates. You just have to wait it out. I'm .4 higher than yesterday but I know it isn't real. I tend to bounce around a few days then lose weight. Currently I'm in the bouncy stage.

Tuscany, I'll have to go look at your pics. We'll miss you while you are gone. Have a great trip.

What a day! Our English Mastiff, Josie...

slipped a disk in her back and we had to take her to the vet. It's not easy getting her to the vet when her back isn't bothering her, so this was really tricky. But she came through it with flying colors and is now on inflammation and pain meds, poor baby. As for me, I weigh 195 today! Woohoo, back to my starting weight! Now maybe I can get this show on the road! :flow2:

Pixikat, Congrats on the new low! :yay: And good point on the height. If I came in at 5'7.5", I'm not sure how I would take that!

Nitrus, good luck on getting to Onederland! My fingers are crossed for you! :crossed:

Sum, great job!

Yay, Cheeri Good loss!

Angelique, hopefully after TOM you'll get a whoosh of weight loss!

Chunkie, way to go! And we'll see if the whoosh fairy is working her whoosh magic. For now, I'm happy just getting back to my starting weight, so it's all good! :D

Tuscany, your pics are amazing! You look wonderful!!!! I'm so happy for you! :woohoo:

Turtle, I f-i-n-a-l-l-y went down. Your turn! :wizard: Those set points are buggers!

Emme, I hope you are feeling better again soon! :getwell:

Puft, hoping the best for you with that scale! (P.S. I think my scale is scared of you, keep it up, lol!)

No change this morning. This is a SLOW month from a weight loss perspective…no loss at all so far, even though I’ve remained OP. Hopefully, I’ll get another whoosh soon and it won’t promptly disappear!

Jacqui: YEAH 195! The carrot and I are very happy for you! :carrot: And thanks for your comments on my pics. I hope Josie is feeling better soon…poor little thing. I get so worried when one of my two babies needs the vet.

Pixi: Congrats on the new low! And thanks for your comments on my pic thread.

Stay Puft: Good for you doing your planned walk even though you didn’t feel like it. I’m weird. I love power walking in the heat. I come home and I’m drenched with sweat, but I feel like I’ve had a great workout. Then I just hop in the shower and I feel so refreshed. LOL to your comment about your dog on my picture thread. What kind of dog do you have (with my luck, it's a Doberman! :)) ?

Joy: NC beats a gain.

Emme: You’re doing really well so far! I hope you feel better soon. It's not fun to be sick in bed when you have a baby at home.

SouthernBell: Great results on the exercise front!

Leah & Tray: I hope the whoosh fairy visits both of you soon.

Angelique: TOM certainly explains your gain. Your weight will start to decline again when TOM is finished.

Tavvy: Congrats on losing another pound. And you needn’t worry about sounding boastful…feel free to celebrate your losses...you can even throw in some dancing carrots!

Cincorn: Nice whoosh.

Rhiko: Good progress so far!

Happy Friday, ladies! I do feel better today. I work during the week, so I sent my daughter to daycare for the day yesterday so I could stay in bed. I give so much credit to stay at home moms who don't have help during the day when they are sick and have to take care of babies.

I'm feeling better and I'm really hungry. I'm just going to stay on track and keep slamming my water.

Jacqui, your poor doggie! Glad she'll be on the mend. We have a rescue dog named Jasper and he's our family. Congrats at being at your start weight!

Tuscany, there is a downward trend in your weigh-ins, so don't get discouraged with the slow movement. Slow movement is better than no movement.

Angelique, if you only ate that little, then I'm sure the pound will fall right off. Drink a ton of water and your system will flush itself out.

Turtle, great job on the loss! I love seeing the numbers going down.

Chunkie, great job on the 2 pound loss! Exciting!

Stay_Puft, yes, that's the attitude to have: a loss is coming...it's just a matter of waiting it out. You're doing great.

Cheeriloos, water, water, water! That's how I flush out my system after I've eaten a bit too much off track. You'll be fine in no time.

gardnerjoy, I can totally relate. That's what jump-started me to do this challenge. I weighed myself and said "Nope, time to get on track." Good luck to you!

joy Good for you getting on the scale this morning! I know that for me, avoiding it only leads to more denial and greater gains.

staypuft and tuscany :wizard: Hope y'all see the woosh fairy soon!!

Me: Down .6 lbs from yesterday. I use the Lose It app on my phone to casually log my food and/or check the calories in restaurant food before proceeding. According to it, with losing 2lbs a week I will have met my goal of 180 in December 2014. This morning I logged my current weight and it moved my tentative end date to November 2014.

I really hope I can keep up the stamina. My son (nearly 7 months) isn't sleeping well at ALL...last night we got a grand total of 3 hours. He is teething and trying to learn to crawl. Add that to the fact that I work 12-15 hours a day (taking care of two kiddos, ages 2 and 4 along with my own) I am just exhausted! And when I am tired I crave sugar and carbs. This morning, to curb the cravings, I made a banana avocado cocao smoothie. It worked so far. I have my clingy and exhausted little boy in a mei tai on my chest, and sent the other two outdoors to play for a while...so for now it is rather peaceful inside!

Maintaining 195 right now. Better than 196! Thanks Tuscany, Puft, Cheeri, Pixikat, and Emme for your well wishes for Josie! She's moving a tad better today.

Tuscany, the whoosh fairy loves you! I'm sure she's just lurking around the corner! :D

Angelique, I always get cravings for chocolate and sweets around TOM. Good job on only eating pineapple and corn! :cp:

Turtle, yay on the 5! :carrot:

Chunkie, fantastic loss! How exciting! :broc:

Puft, I am ready to rumble! Now, if only my body will cooperate, lol!

Cheeri, :nono: No more than one cheat day a week! :D

Joy, I've found weighing after cheat days is best for that exact reason--it helps keep me honest and on track.

Pixikat, good job on the drop! Every bit helps! :flow2:

Emme, so glad you are feeling better! Take care of yourself!

Leah, yay on the 1.5 lb drop! My daughter and I both have reactive hypoglycemia. She can tell when her blood sugar is getting low because she becomes very hungry. It's really difficult for her to get her blood sugar levels up though, even her highs are only in the 90's, and so she has passed out a few times because it's dropped too low. As for me, I don't even notice anything's wrong until I am on the verge of passing out, and then I have to stop everything and eat immediately. It's not fun! So sorry you woke up that way!

Tavvy, wow! You really have your hands full! The smoothie was a good idea. Congrats on the move up of your goal date! :cb:

It seems to be more the crawling thing that is keeping him awake. His arms have a mind of his own and he pushes up into a crawling position in his sleep so I have had to start swaddling his arms again. It definitely isn't habit since he usually sleeps like a dream (about 7 hours at a time). Bleck. I will be glad when this is over.

Stay Puft: I think you're still going really well, a loss is a loss so congrats :)

gardenerjoy: Thanks for the welcome :)

I still haven't gone to the gym and I am beating myself up about it too :( Really kciking my butt into gear to go today. With a scale that measures in KG not pounds (I'm in Aussie) I dont think I'll weiugh myself everyday but instead once a week as otherwise I am going to drive myself crazy

Jaqui I typically only get it in the morning because I'm pretty good about eating frequently enough during the day to stay stable. But my blood sugar drops so much while I'm sleeping that I often wake up low. I have 3 warning signs figured out so far. Irritability is my first sign that I need to eat. I usually wake up grumpy as all **** but I'm perfectly okay after breakfast. The next is nausea. When I reach the nausea stage it is really tough for me because I know I need to eat, I feel better when I eat, but everything turns my stomach. The final sign is dizziness, blacking out (but not yet fainting), and ears ringing. That's how I was in the morning. Sometimes I've just grabbed the bottle of honey and squeezed it directly into my mouth despite not being a huge honey fan. But now I've learned to grab some quick fruit because it doesn't cause a second crash later on. Today I had a really hard time keeping my levels up. On the way to school I just bought a bag of lollipops and have sucked on a few. I'm doing much better now though. I just gotta take it easy the rest of the night.

Ok Jacqui I have to write a quick post about your dog. A very good friend of mine has an English Mastiff that looks a bit like your Josie. Her name is Ellie Sue. I love how dogs their size have no clue that they are huge and love to cuddle, when in reality they weigh around 200 pounds and could knock you over when the lean on you for a pet! :) I hope Josie feels better soon.

On side note...

Sept 1~241.7
Sept 6~240.5

So 1.2 pounds but I expected a smaller loss this week from a not so great weekend last weekend with eating out, Ill take it though;)

I was down a half pound this morning, which is my loss for the week….better than nothing!

I have an early morning flight tomorrow. So, after today, I likely won’t be posting again until I get back in a few weeks. I hope to remain OP for the most part when I’m away, although there will be a few days when I will indulge. I’m not sure if I mentioned this before, but one of the reasons for my trip is to help my daughter plan her wedding in Italy next year. So, when we’re in Italy, we will be meeting with the caterer to do a tasting in order to pick the menu. I suspect I’ll go off plan that day…I love Italian food!

The other reason for my trip is to attend my daughter’s graduation from Oxford. She finished her Master’s last year and is currently doing her PhD. I will be taking her and her fiancé for dinner on graduation night and I will no doubt go off plan that day too. I imagine we’ll do a ton of walking while I’m there, which will hopefully make up for my occasional indulgences. :crossed:

I’ll check in with everyone when I get home in a few weeks. In the meantime, I hope everyone has a fabulous September and makes terrific progress toward their goals!!

Turtle: Happy Anniversary! September will be the month of the turtle ridden by the jockey…as in the picture I posted last month.

Stay Puft: You're almost 2 lbs down since the start of the month, which is not too shabby!

Jacqui: I predict you’ll soon be at 194!

Pixi: Another new low…good for you.

Joy: Way to get right back in the saddle.

Emme: Glad to hear you’re feeling better!

Sum: Despite the small gain, you’re doing really well this month.

Leah: Congrats on the whoosh.

Tray: There will be a whoosh in your future very soon.

Tavvy: I hope your son’s teeth come through soon so you can get a bit more sleep!

chunkie: My goodness, you’re doing well this month!

cheeriloos: Enjoy your street party, minus the food!

mzshaunna: I hope you’re able to find the motivation you need to get some exercise…if the gym doesn’t truly interest you, perhaps there’s something else you might enjoy more?

SouthernBell: That’s a pretty decent loss considering your description of your weekend!

Angelique: It’s normal to gain weight during TOM…nothing to worry about.

196 again, hm, looks like my body's going to be stubborn this month!

Mzshaunna, thanks! Josie's on the mend, slowly but surely. As far as going to the gym, maybe you're just not mentally ready for that yet. Sometimes when starting out on a new weight loss plan, it can all seem like too much. Maybe you need to take it just one step at a time, and if I were you, I'd start with diet. I've always found if I can just start eating healthier foods and lose just a few pounds, then I feel like doing more and I start walking. But when I first start, I usually am not mentally ready to jump in all at once with diet and exercise. Maybe the same is true for you. Don't do what others expect of you. Just do what works for you.

Leah, my daughter always eats a spoonful of peanut butter at night before she goes to bed. She's found that helps her make it through the night.

SouthernBell, you are so right, lol! They are leaners! And they think they are lap dogs. Josie is my smallest mastiff. In fact, people often think she is a bullmastiff because she's so small. I have two others that are English Mastiff/German Mastiff (Great Dane) mixes who are taller and bigger, and my big boy Mac is notorious for backing up his hind end and sitting on the couch. He likes even better, though, when we are sitting on the couch and he can back up and sit in our laps, lol!

Tuscany, you must be so proud of your daughters! Have a fantastic time. I know you will! We'll miss you!

Sum, your and my scale both are going in the wrong direction!

Yay, Joy! :cp:

cheeriloos, good luck at the street party! There is a food truck locally that does Brazilian food and the flavors are fantastic. At least the few things I've tried. Of course one was chicken hearts and although I didn't love the heart the flavoring was so good.

gardenerjoy, that's a great attitude. Weighing and posting when things are going well is easy but when things take a downturn is when you need to do it the most. I hope I have that strength when I slip.

pnkrckpixikat, I am OP. The only change has been a small uptick in exercise. I just need to be patient. Not my strong suit. Meanwhile, you are slapping September around. Great job!

Not that I can afford to allow myself to use that as an excuse whenever I'm feeling mildly hypoglycemic, only when it's necessary.

Good morning, everyone! It's a nice, rainy day here and I got a quick walk in with my husband, daughter and dog before it started drizzling. My weekend posts are kind of "post and run" since we're home with the baby on the weekends all day and it's go-go-go.

I was extra hungry yesterday and I ate more calories than I would've liked, but I ate mindfully and chose the right foods. I'm assuming my weight loss will start leveling off and slowing down now. The first few days are usually always water weight and the body adjusting to fewer calories.

Jacqui_D, I think my body might also not be quite ready to rumble. Hopefully soon for both of us.

TrayTeam, there's always time for a nap.

mzshaunna, if you can't or just don't go to the gym, you could always find a way to exercise around the house.

SouthernBell02, a great loss when you think that is a 4200 calorie deficit in just a week.

First of all, way to go for all those who have lost and are achieving their goals so far this month! :)

Second, although my scale is still showing 66.7 kgs (I can't seem to move past this number! :( ), it is obvious in the mirror that I've lost weight this month. And after measuring my waist to see just how much I've lost overall, my partner and I found that in the past 11 months 16 cms (6.29 inches) has gone. :D

I don't know if this is worthy of a new thread in the Mini-Goal forum. Tell me if you disagree. For me, it's just a 'Yay' observation lol

Therefore, September 7th and 8th: 66.7 kgs.
I did, however, have a belated birthday party which included a strawberry width slice of cake :D

Well, here it is Sept 8 and one week slid by, time to weigh in My starting weight on last Sunday morning, Sept 2 was 256.6 lbs.

Actually, the week did not just slide by, it was purt rough for the most part. On Monday, the 2nd and second day of this challenge I got up as usual, feeling fine and ready to take on the world. While drinking my morning 12 cup pot of coffee, I played a few games of spades online, read up on all the world news, wrote Obama to keep us da hek outta Syria, did my part for saving the world ya know Then about 10 I could feel tinges of hunger, just enough to let me know I ought to eat something. Had a breakfast of a chicken sandwich made on two slices of whole wheat bread, mayo, lettuce and a slab of grilled chicken, which I thought was about 4 oz, (240 cal) and half a cup of pinto beans with jalapeno. Total calories of 360. But since then I got in the kitchen digital scales which I purchased online for a very reasonable amount. I found out that 4 oz of chicken I thought was really less than 2 oz, 100 calories less.

Anyway, back to the rough part. I bought some sweetener, Truvia, supposedly made from the best parts of Stevia. I do not drink sodas nor other any sweetened drinks. Tea and coffee for me is sugarless, cannot stand sugar in them. I bought the sweetener to put in home made jamaica so to take a bit from the tart. I actually like it without any sugar to quite a degree, but wanted to remove some of the tart edge off of it. After I finished all of my 12 cup pot of cofee I wanted I switched to jaimica with a little of that Truvia in it. That stuff was supposed to be made from the best parts of Stevia.

An hour after drinking the jaimica I started getting a head ache, tightness across my shoulders, a type of pain but more just on the bothersome side. And my eyes started hurting and I got VERY drowsy. So I went to take a nap and see if that fixed it. YE GADS got up still with all the symptoms intact. Figured it would pass. Lasted like that all day, plus I just felt crappy.

Got up the next am, feeling mostly OK. Had my coffee etc, reg morning things. Finally made something to eat, about 300 calories worth. I was OK until I drank about half of a glass of jaimica sweetened with Truvia again. Same thing as the day before. I started to make the association between that and the Truvia, the only thing different that it could be attributed to. And I also felt my blood glucose as not right, and figured that was the reason for my eyes hurting. Tested my blood glucose and nearly fell over, it was over 200, extremely high for me. Got online and googled Truvia. Did not like what I found. It has less than .002 stevia in it, the sweetening part comes from erythritol. Truvia has a long list of side effects, and all of mine were listed, from increasing the glucose level, aching shoulders, headache, drowsiness, and more. On a very long list of postings my symptoms were mentioned countless times. And our FDA approved it???? Coca Cola and Cargill owns Truvia,......... big money..... money talks bull crap walks........... that sorta thing???? whewwwwwwwww ouch

I ordered some xylitol online which should be here in another week or so............ Anybody know of any complaints about that one? If so please let me know.

Back to the third day.... The foul aftertaste I had from Truvia bothered me, and once again I had the headache, shoulder pain/tightness, hurting eyes.......... and the blood glucose took most of the week to get almost back to normal. Last night for the first time since drinking some of that Truvia sweetened drink my blood glucose got down to 110.

That evening I went into town and ate at a Mexican restaurant, a small mom and pop place whose owners are Mexican immigrants who dish out authentic Mexican food. I like and had cheese enchiladas with beans and rice. LOL and had some jaimica drink Twice the usual daily calorie intake that day, but I was desperately trying to get out of those miserable feelings.

It took all week to get back to near normal. Friday night I relented and bought a quart of Dyers Cherry Vanilla ice cream which was making faces at me in the store and ate half of it as soon as I got home. Turned out to be 1 1/2 quarts, 1660 calories LOL Oh well. And yesterday I finished it off. But I did the calcs and though I went way over the daily calories I aim for, I was still under the amount of maintenence calories so I knew I was still losing weight.

Well, with a bit of trepidation, I stepped on the scales this morning, the first time since last Sunday morning. I knew from the last time I lost weight for three months the huge variations that are seen in daily or several times a day weighing. I will just take what it says on Sunday mornings. Here it is.

last weeks weigh in 256.6
this morning 250.2

Down 4.4 lbs

I was 279 lbs exactly 3 months ago, July 8, when I started this weight loss after a visit to my doctor who told me to lose 10% or 28 lbs. I achieved that goal this week
I plan on adding more limited exercise this coming week so hopefully it will result in more on the loss side.

Hope the rest of you had a better week and thanks for being here for me

!!!!! disregard the weights I posted both last week and this morning. The only ones I consider accurate now are the ones at the doctors office.

I posted this morning that I weighed in at 250.2 somehow, I am sure I read it at 251.2 instead, a pound diff. When I checked in while ago to see how others were doing I saw Jaqui's post saying I lost 6 lbs and stated 250.2 lbs. I checked my post and saw I mis-posted. But that is only the start of it. I got my scales out and stepped on them for another check even though I knew the weight had changed somewhat after drinking coffee (11 cups) and eating breakfast.

The scales said 260 something.

I was a bit taken aback at that, then started adding it all up. Noticed I had my shoes on, 2 lbs. 11 cups of coffee.... 5.5 lbs
my breakfast, about 1 lb. Did I use the bathroomlbs once or not??? Don't remember (at 72 and after a mini-stroke, I tend to forget a lot)
If I did, subtract one lb from the coffee 5.5.

Took off the shoes, weighed again. Stepped off, then back on again after it turned off. And again. Got weights varying over 4 lbs.

My scale is unusable for this weight thing. Sorry. However, I know I lost some but do not know how much. UGH such is life.

I will either get some better scales (any suggestions?) or have to find another way of doing this. My apologies to all

I have no idea how my weight is up. I haven't cheated at all. My calorie count has actually been a little low so I was going to have a higher calorie day today.

I was maintaining at 205 for a long time. Gave up 6+ Mountain Dews a day and replaced them with water. Not water with something added. Just plain 0 calorie water. Gave up snacking. All snacking. Even my all night graze-a-thon. Stopped taking seconds of meals. Added a lot of veggies. Watched portions. Just the Dew alone should be taking off 2 pounds a week. :(

I dare someone to say to me today that losing weight is easy all you have to do is eat fewer calories than you use and I will beat them about the head and shoulders with my scale.

Good morning, everyone. I went for a run last night for the first time in two weeks (my knee had swollen up), and it felt great. Granted, I only ran one mile and walked the last two, but the last thing I want to do is make my knee swell again.

I'm up 1/2 pound which is expected. I ate some pretty salty things over the weekend, I ran last night (which means my body is holding onto water to repair muscles), and I wasn't totally on plan with calories. I didn't eat horribly, but I ate a smidge more than I should have.

pnkrckpixikat, I'm a big fan of eating out. I'd do it everyday if I could afford it financially. Good for you for eating out on Saturdays only! Maybe it will become a day to be focused on, meaning you'll eat really well all week knowing that on Saturday you will be going out for something different to eat. Good luck!

B F R, my scale is always three pounds less than what my doctor's office weighs me in at. If you want an accurate weight daily, weigh yourself as soon as you wake up in the morning with no clothes on.

cheeriloos, mmmm, Chinese sounds delicious! I'm sure you'll be back on track before you know it.

Changergirl, contrats on the loss! Woo hoo!

Angelique, the Monday after the weekend is always highest for me, too. I don't get a lot of water in during the weekend (I get at least 120 oz during the week), and I think that really affects me. I'm sure the scale will start its downward trend for you. Keep hydrated!

Stay Puft, ugh, I hear you about calorie counting. That's what I'm doing and it's what I did a few years ago to drop my last 30 pounds. It's so maddening at times. How the helll can I eat on-calorie, drink a ton of water, and be UP!?! It's frustrating, isn't it? This may sound bizarre, but some days when this would happen, I would eat an extra 500-600 calories for one day and then go back to my normal calories. I would always start dropping again. Of course, this is just my own scientific experiment, and may not work for everyone. The extra calories were fun, though. ;)

LovelyLeah: AWESOME job on the weight loss!!!

Good morning, everyone. It's been officially one week of me counting calories and I'm down three pounds. I know realistically that it won't be this way every week since the first week is usually the body adapting and water weight flushing out. I'm optimistic, though!

Hello all :)

As I stated in my last post, my scales (new ones purchased from Amazon, digital, Epica brand, supposedly highly reliable, received them one day before first weight in, four battery) are defective scales. I will try to get this reported to Amazon for a refund or properly working scales today. Stepping on, read, off let scales go off, stepping on, read, off, again, repeating above several times, weight varies as much as 6 lbs. Scales consistently reading the same amount off, no problem, can allow for that. But they are too inconsistent for use for anything.

OK, overall, I take in far less calories than needed for maintenance weight. With that said, I know I am losing weight regardless of what any scales say.

To Sun 38, Gloricat, Stay Puft and others concerned about daily scale fluctuations: As we eat, drink, perspire, urinate, defecate, and whatever we do that use calories including just being alive, our weight is in a constant state of flux Added to that is the bodies resistance to change. When a fat cell loses fat it will take in water trying to maintain that size. This may go on for some while, then start releasing the extra liquids, in what look like remarkable sudden weight losses, even though one may have eaten way over for a few days prior. Do not let these fool you. If you are taking in less calories than you burn you ARE LOSING WEIGHT regardless of what the scales tell you at any one particular time. The total deficit in calories at the end of the week divided by 3500 will give you a very close approximation of your weight loss.

Even given that, some of us have systems that are much more efficient at utilizing food, or other words more metabolic efficient. We learn over time more closely what individual bodies need for maintenance. Using that amount, whatever deficit you have over a weeks time divided by 3500 will be very close to your real loss.

I suggest each of you pay much less attention to daily weight which fluctuates so much and use the what it says over a week, and over a month. I think all of you are doing great but worrying too much over daily fluctuations.

I will get my new scales and post the weights. But I know I am losing, my calorie intake is way lower than my maintenance requirement. Not only that, but I am going down in size, I move easier, less joint pains, am more flexible, feel better overall.... ETC

Remember, our worst enemies on this weight loss is ourselves. Don't be fooled by your scales, keep on keeping the calorie intake down and you the scales will get honest in time.

Thanks for the support you have given me, and hope this helps you a bit

Hello all. My body is getting used to calorie counting, but I can tell when I'm honestly still hungry. Last night around 6:00 I had eaten a total of 1657 calories, but by 8:00 I was getting a headache and my stomach was growling. So, I had a small bowl of Cheerios and some peanut butter. This bumped me up another 300 calories, but I felt so much better after eating it. One thing I've learned with calorie counting is that you have to eat when you are hungry -- you don't want to starve yourself!!

hello all! So it looks like I will be eating on campus on Tuesdays for dinner. The dining hall actually has some pretty good healthy options and calorie counts listed, so it shouldn't be too challenging. The only thing that I think may be difficult is that I am sure the sodium levels are closer to a restaurants then eating at home so I might be back to the bi-weekly sodium bounces.

Angelique: try not to be discouraged be happy with small losses your body comp could be changing, many things such as bloat, hormones, sodium come into play here, don't quit be use you will get there, remember the turtle and the hare?

So it has been such a crazy month so far, I'm hoping that I can get back on track now! I've been to the hospital twice this month (Everyone is ok now!!!!) hubby's birthday, our anniversary, and a three day trip to the cabin all within the first 11 days of September. I guess I'm just glad that I have been mostly maintaining. Will catch up on everyone's posts today.

Angelique32: I averaged less than a pound a week on the way down -- with a couple of stalls of a month or more (and one unfortunate period where the weight went up instead of down). There's no "should" about how fast you'll lose.
The conventional advice, here, seems to be to give a plan about 3 weeks. If you're not seeing results, then it's probably time to change something -- the serving size of a couple of items, remove a snack, change to an entirely different plan (which is also a good treatment for boredom), exercise more and/or add strength training. There's always something to experiment with!
But give it time, you may be sitting on the precipice of a whoosh!

Good morning!

Angelique as previous posters said, there is no set amount you should lose each week. Our bodies are mysterious machines and often times we have to do what we know should work and wait out it's stubborness. Looking at your weigh ins though you did lose .8, but then something bumped you back up. I would bet water retention of some sort since you have since been flushing it back off.

emme looks like you are doing great! keep it up

cheeriloos Hooray for a new low!!!!

turtle sounds like a busy and stresfull beginning of the month. awesome job maintaining! I hope the rest of your month goes smoothly and the pounds melt off :)

:welcome: fluffygrover!

It is an extremely busy and stressful week for me. I'm sorry I haven't been on to post and write personals, and unfortunately the rest of the week isn't going to be any better. Maybe on Monday things will settle down and go back to normal. I haven't even gotten my daily walks in for the last two mornings--no time--and my weight is stalled at 197! Dang that 197 set point! I was down to 195, out of the obese range, and here I am right back again. I'm sticking to my diet, but obviously something is different, and it's not just the missing walks because I hit 197 while I was walking. Stress, I guess. Anyway, congrats to those who are at new lows! I'm thinking of you all!

Back down to 66.2 kgs. It's ovulation time, so my weight isn't going to change much no matter how small my body becomes because I put on 3cm on my stomach. Sigh. I won't have my full weight difference for this month until next month. However, I will keep posting changes as I see them. :)

13 Sept: 66.2 kgs (again)

P.S. Can I amend my weight loss from 2.8 kgs to 1.8 kgs? lol

I have for the most part stayed on plan and for the last two week I have walk 2 miles 2-3 times a week which is a huge deal since I never have lasted for more then a week with any exercise routine. I don't know why I went up but I'm at a loss and this is why I have lost track of dieting in the past because I stall and just give up :( Im sorry if I sound like a whiney baby but I figured if anyone would understand it would be you guys :)

SouthernBell Are you drinking enough water? That makes a huge difference. So does sodium intake and if you're constipated or near TOM or stressed out. You will have ups and downs. Also like Turtle said, new exercises can temporarily cause a set back in weight loss, but it's not permanent. For a while last month I was so frustrated because my weight kept bouncing between the same 5 pounds. I would finally think things were working and I would get so close to hitting a milestone but then I would gain 3 pounds out of no where. But I kept at it and now I've passed that milestone and I'm still losing. Our bodies can be really stubborn but that's when you need to be just as stubborn back.

southernbelle, so much can account for a slight gain: water weight, sodium, TOM, ovulation (<----it affects me), not enough water, etc. Don't give up. The worst thing you could do now is throw in the towel. This isn't an easy journey and it's not always a fun process.

SouthernBell02: Don't give up! I've become convinced that persistence is the most important skill in losing weight. Three years from now, you won't even remember how frustrating these three weeks were. Oddly enough, the exercise may be the problem in the short run, but in the long run, the new muscles will be working even when you're not and will help the weight loss come more quickly in the months to come.

15 Sept: 66.2 kgs again, still....

I know why this is happening... yes, as stated below, my leg muscles are building because I'm doing more with my running...but I've been eating junk. I don't know if it's my pre-TOM symptoms that are giving me the munchies at night, but I'm always feeling hungry a few hours after eating. This is normal for me when the timing is closer its starting.

Oh well, I've been feeling discouraged and that I can't do anything. Yes, I've lost all this weight, but it's not lowering. I've been in the 66's for 2 months now :( I thought that running more and burning more calories would work at getting it down. I guess too much is going in... or maybe I'm not eating enough? Meh. There is more to it, but I just don't want to talk about it. I can't articulate it correctly in one-two sentences.

____

I am so frustrated! ... I don't know why I went up but I'm at a loss...

Muscle weights more than fat. If you are walking more often the chances are your leg (and other) muscles are building. I believe that's the reason why I can't seem to get out of 66 kgs, because I've just started running 6 km (nearly 4 miles) and I can actually feel my muscles growing :)

Ladies, Thank you all so much for the encouragement. I WILL NOT GIVE UP!! I did really well today despite wanting to eat everything in sight. I know that last week I had a few cheat items but not enough for that gain, so it must be hormones or muscle or something very stubborn! I had my hubby measure me today despite the fact that its 2 days early. I needed the boost that I knew losing inches would give me. I lost 5.75 inches this month so that helped a lot. I also bought two knew "smaller" bras so that helped too but most of all you guys were the biggest boost. THANK YOU!!!!
