Default Thursday Chat on the Beach - August 29

Morning Ladies,

Let's see where have I been? Well, NOT on the Beach!
However, come the first my dh and I will be on the Beach. His younger brother (49) had a heart attack (doing good) and I had been trying to get Lou to lose some weight but he just was not ready.
Days before I had told him I had a great plan but he probably would not do it....he didn't even ask what it was!
Then his brother had the heart attack and I brought it up again and he said ok, what? I told him that if he would lose 50 pounds we would go see friends, the Redwoods, Yosemite next Spring. He said okay!
What?
So, I decided that since I had great success with SB I would put him on the Beach.
I have had personal losses since I left the Beach (my mom's death and many close older lady friend's death...one just last week) Too many other issues but I never forgot about you, Ruth, and all of the Beachers.
Lou has gone hog wild eating all of his goodies and has asked for and bought MORE until the first!!!
Until next time

Good morning, Windsong, and Beachers to follow. Sorry to hear about your family and friends losses but pleased that Lou has decided to jump on the Beach Buggy.

Wow! Yesterday was steamy! The temperature in my car was 108 when I went to drive to pet therapy. I am so very glad to have AC. I left it running for a while to cool off before I took poor Jazz to his "job". Today is going to be a bit cooler and way less muggy.

Trash to the curb is first on today's list and then I'll tackle the rest of the day. I need to bake again for the Mill cafe desserts and get some flowers organized - sure will be glad when Monday rolls around and we can close. I also need to tidy my incredibly cluttered desk as one of the guys from the finance committee is coming this afternoon to "play" with my accounting software. I am doing a complete backup this morning! He's setting up some cash flow stuff for the Mill bucks - our flow is a pretty small trickle. I'm planning to let him play with it and do some quilting. That's the plan anyhow.

I have a load in the dryer - cheap rates until 7 - and the oven pre-heating so I'd better scurry around and get stuff going while the house is still nice and cool. It's going to only 81 today with low humidity so ... Get cracking, Ruthie.

Where the heck did this summer go? Hope your Thursday is thrilling in some way. A wave and smile from the trash guy will probably be "it" for me.

Good morning!

That's great that you'll have your DH on board with you, Lady Windsong, and I'm glad his brother is doing well. Good luck to all of you.

Ahhh, today is my Friday and I'm looking forward to a nice 4-day weekend. It's been a long week!

Good morning chicks! Thanks for starting us off Windsong, and glad to see you're back with us. I'm sorry to hear of your family members, but am happy DH will be joining us with you on the beach. (hopefully, he'll stick with it! Just remind him the first 3 days are the hardest!!)

Ruth - ew, I wouldn't want someone else at my desk! Sounds like you have a busy day as normal. I hope it goes smoothly.

Cottage - I just realized, it's my Friday too!! Yay! I'm sorry to hear it's been such a long week for you, I hope you get to relax and enjoy the weekend.

It is my Friday today - I took off tomorrow so that we can go see the in-laws. It's a bit tough, since granny is progressing in her Alzheimers. We're meeting them at their mountain house, where there's a HUGE flea market. She can't handle much, so our biggest priority is letting her see the kids (in short spurts...). I'm hoping I can spend some time at the flea market!

Today we get to meet our kids' teachers, they start school next week and both their teachers are new to the school. Otherwise, just a long day at work, and packing tonight. I did make the food porn last night to bring for dessert. Must. not. eat. all.

(and darned - I broke the carafe to the coffee maker, so it's me and paul at the keurig for breakfast!)

Good Morning

Hello everyone! Windsong, thanks for getting us started. My hubby has successfully negotiated Beach living. He didn't need to lose weight but he eats what I make and has had such an increase in energy since he gave up the sugar that he's willing to stay off the "stuff" on his own.

Twynn, Linda....happy Friday!

Ruth, I hope you get some quilting in!

Me...it's my weekend...I have today and tomorrow off. This morning I take mom down to Denver for her monthly eye appt. then back up to dry some more peaches and hopefully find a little time for relaxation. I've been working through my rooms this morning...picking up, etc, and hope DH will come from the shop soon so we can enjoy more coffee.

Have a great day everyone!

Morning.

Windsong, glad that DH will be joining you on the Beach. My own DH and I took the plunge just over 2 years ago; he had always relied on skipping meals to lose weight when he was younger, but that doesn't work as you age. (not to mention not being healthy) We both have struggled with our weight and have family health history issues. Anyway, we have both had success and are doing our best to stay true to the principles of SB eating.

Early PT for me today then I am FORCING myself to go to school. Whine, whine don't you feel sorry for me having to go back to work? It's just the first week is a shock and then it's like you never left.

Got to go get some breakfast and fly out the door!

Good morning We had quite a storm last night, and we only got the edge of it. Woke the poor pup up and she spent the night snuggled in-between her people. It doesn't look too bad out there this morning though. Hopefully it broke the heat (91 here yesterday afternoon! 10 degrees higher than forecast).

Windsong - The SO and I have each gained about 20 lbs since we met. Friends say that's because we are happy but happy and fat isn't the goal! I do almost all the cooking because I love to cook and he, believe it or not, loves to do dishes, so we are heading back to the Beach too. We are doing a wheat free version because we both have arthritis and find too much wheat just makes us achy. Now we just need to make time for exercise every day.

Ruth - Thrilling here today will be getting that last room in better shape. We've spent the summer living with one room still in transition because it was more fun to be outside than dealing with it. The treadmill is in there so it's time to get it organized. Are your pups as excited as Cricket by the garbage man? I swear it's her favorite day of the week.

Cottage - Any weekend plans?

Twynn - Hope the work day buzzes so you an start the weekend.

Debbie - I am resisting buying more peaches I really wanted to can some but will have to live with the frozen and dried ones I had time for. I need to get to the squash before the season ends.

Beth - hope you have relaxing weekend plans

I'm going to make my list for the day and try not to be too ambitious. Maybe I'll start with some whole grain, high fiber peach pancakes. They have been such a treat this summer, especially topped with blueberry sauce (all homemade, of course).

Good morning.

I'm hiking this morning and getting my hair done this afternoon. I'm waiting for a package to be delivered so I can try out another style in the shoes I've been testing. I didn't buy either that I tried in the local stores last week but this is the second one I've ordered from a second company online. I'll keep whichever of them feels best. So far the one I have is good for my foot issue but UGLY and the tongue on one shoe digs into my ankle.

Eating is on track, except for a book club brownie (or two) but the scale is being very uncooperative. And speaking of brownies, I came home from work last night to a house that smelled of them; DH made himself a batch. Aaargh. But it is easier for me to resist at home than when I am out.

Keep cool. Have a great day.

Did ya miss me this morning??? Slept in until 7!!! Then was off to my dr appointment. Enjoyed reading everyone's posts while sipping my coffee. DS is still asleep (shocker) will wake him soon as he has the dr today. Going to Joe's while DS is at work. Tomorrow will be errands and housework. Saturday we are going to the Yankee game. Sunday back to work.

Since there is no DH, it is easier for me to stay OP. DS does not have any issues with his weight. he does eat whatever I make which I am thankful for. But like any teenager he does enjoy eating food porn. I make sure I only buy junk that I don't like. Especially with school starting. He is a last minute type of guy, so he will grab and go anything. I am going to make him egg wraps ahead of time. This way he can nuke and run. Lunch he eats with his friends out (his $$$ not mine) Dinner either home or at work (prefer him eating home, but what can you do). Since I get home late he fends for himself. The kid is happy with liver wurst sandwiches (gross) or will create something on his own. Well time to wake sleeping beauty. Wish me luck!
