I made goal a few months ago but am just now posting pictures. The before picture is me at about 190, the current picture is me at 141.

I did this with 100% diet, no exercise except for walking. I lost the 50 lbs in 8 months. What changed my life and got me going on my weight loss journey was seeing a nutritionist. I cut out all soda and diet soda, stopped going out to restaurants, and started counting calories and writing down everything I eat. I try to stick to 1200-1400 a day.

It feels good to finally lose that weight! Here is the before and after...

Update--here are a few more before and afters. I've been in maintenance mode :) I was overweight from ages 16-27, so believe me, if I can change my ways after spending most of my adult life being overweight, you can lose weight too.

HI, you look amazing. You are truly an inspiration for me.

Counting calories. I stick to 1200-1400. Cutting out all soda (including diet) as well as alcohol and juice. All I drink now is sparkling water. I only go out to eat once a week. I find foods that I like and stick with them-I pretty much eat the same things every day. Some of my favorites are string cheese, hard boiled eggs, carrots with hummus, Ezekiel bread with laughing cow cheese, turkey, lettuce, and mustard in a whole wheat wrap, and spinach with strawberries and goat cheese. I keep a food journal every single day-I use a calorie counting app.

I don't exercise really, it makes me hungry and it usually stalls weight loss. But I walk a lot-I live in a big city and I don't have a car.

And thanks so much everyone! I feel amazing! Believe me, if I can reach goal, you can too!

Awesome!!! Do you mind me asking how old are you and if you worried about carbs at all? Have you had sweets during weight loss time?

I'm 28, and I don't worry about carbs at all- I just focus on calories.

During my weight loss I did not eat any junk food. Now that I'm pretty much in maintence, I eat sweets here and there.

I haven't come across anyone yet who succeeded with just walking. Good to hear since I have been counting calories but not exercising. The walking I can do. Haven't yet, but everyday I know I should do it.

Congratulations on your success, you look great

Thanks everyone!! I found some more old photos of me at 191, so I added those plus some more "after" pictures to the original post.

Maintenance has been a challenge but I'm still at 141 lbs about 9 months after originally hitting goal. Weddings, vacations to Europe, and summer bbqs resulted in me gaining 8 lbs at the end of summer. I've gotten it off though and am hoping to lose a few more lbs and settle somewhere in the 130's. My life has changed in countless ways as a result of losing weight, I can tell you that it is SO worth it.. It is worth the struggle!

If u don't mind me asking, what brand of whole wheat wrap do you use? I haven't found any that I really like yet.

These days I'm eating Smart and Delicious tortillas with my wraps. Pretty good, 100 cals and 13 g fiber. I add in turkey, lettuce, onion, and honey mustard.

Currently, every day I eat:
an apple, a pear, Greek yogurt, a veggie salad with balsamic, 1-2 hard boiled eggs, a cheese stick, a turkey wrap, a plain sweet potato, and a luna bar. That's my basic menu most days and i love it! I eat the vast majority of my cals in the morning, and I don't keep any snacks or junk in my apt. I only drink black coffee or sparkling water, and I consume alcohol about 2-3 times a month.

I walk 3-5 miles a day :)

You can do this! Believe in yourself.
One morning, when I was 190 lbs, I looked in the mirror and said: "what are you doing? Look at yourself. Wake up and smell the coffee". I made the decision then and there that I was done being fat, I was over it. While losing the weight I never even felt tempted to cheat on my diet because I was so motivated, so driven to make a change. You just have to decide "ENOUGH!" and start making those changes. Stick with it!

Nice work!!!

You look wonderful! Congrats.

11-14-2013, 10:24 AM
You look AMAZING!! (I would say sexy, but that might be a bit weird coming from a stranger. True, but weird, lol)

I'm really inspired by the fact that you eat (almost) the same foods each day. I would be the same - find something I like that fills me up but keeps me within my calorie limits and just repeat each day. Also liking that your only exercise was walking!

Oh, and did I mention you look great?!!

11-14-2013, 01:37 PM
Wow! What a transformation!! Congratulations on all your hard work!!!

Thanks for the continuing support everyone, it means so much to me! Anything I can do to help inspire others brings me great joy. If anyone has questions or anything feel free to ask, happy to help!

I started my weight loss journey a year and a half ago, and I've gained and lost the same 10 lbs on multiple occasions...but I never let it get past the 10 lb gain. I'm there now and newly motivated to get the 10 off (thanks to you guys! You motivate me!)

Wow!!!!! Good job!

You look great. You've done a great job. And its nice for everyone that you've described how you got there and how you are trying to stay there.

I actually think maintaining is harder than losing. I have never been able to maintain but this time i am hoping i can keep my mood up and therefore the bad food out of my mouth. Though you know, its impossible to be sure about the future.

for me the sweets are the hardest thing. And i think i'm going to try to keep a food diary as part of my maintainenance. I figure that when you give up monitoring what you are doing, then you can slip so easily back to where you were you.

I don't want to keep on having to lose those 10 pounds that are always threatening to take you back to square one. You are quite strong to be battling those on again off again 10 pounds.

Oh incidentally its great you are walking. I maintain the same sort of idea as you. You don't need to rush off to the gym all the time. I'm not doing much exercise either. Just a bit of intensive gardening from time to time. Though i would like to get fit again and have plans. But fitness does somewhat complicate everything.
