3 mile Ultimate. Feels so good to exercise in the morning. Last day of summer for me. It is stressful in the pre planning week but the next week when the kids are back it's all great.

I tried my 3 Mega Miles today - had only done it once since I bought it a week ago. I was able to do all of it!

I love towards the end of 3 miles when Leslie says something like "So glad you decided to walk today. Did you ever regret working out? No! You feel so good when you do." So true! I'm going to try to remember that if I am wavering on walking.

Hey you guys. Well, I am out of commission for an unknown time. I broke a bone in my foot yesterday. Until I see my ortho doc, I am on crutches with a splint and no weight on the affected foot. I am SO bummed!! I am really going to have to be diligent with food so I don't gain weight.

I guess it may be a good time to get some dumbells or kettle bell and work on my upper body.

Well, it was NOT job related, but I was at work. Walking up the stairs to get a glass of water, I tripped on the top step. Jammed my big toe into the step and fractured a bone just below the big toe where the big toe ends and the foot begins. It has been very painful.

I need to get some weights before I do the upper body exercises. All I have are one and two pound hand weights. I'll check in and stay in touch until I can get back to the walking.

Wow, there are so many DVDs! I was just browsing Amazon and it is overwhelming how many there are. I ordered 2 so I will have 4 soon and then I will start mixing them up.

Today I did the 3 Mega Miles.

Tomorrow first day back for teachers. Somehow, I am going to get up real early and walk!

Oh no! Sorry about your foot! That's terrible. I am sure getting around is painful. I was down with back pain in May for about 7 days and I really packed it on -- I got on a candy kick. Not a good idea when one is laying around! Since you are used to exercising you will be able to figure out what you need to do.
Good luck and tell us what weights you do! Just consider it an "upper body improvement plan".

I just started with the Leslie DVDs in July so the others will have better advice than I do. I would say to just pop one in and start with the easiest one you have. Even if you just do one mile at first you will jump up quickly. Believe me I have not exercised in years other than walking dogs a little. And I am loving it. I find her so motivating!

Also I bought myself two exercise outfits at target. :D They are bright colors and make me feel a little better than putting on my tshirts that are too tight and shorts that don't fit. I know it sounds silly when it's just me at home alone but I have fun with it!

Chickadeee I started Leslie Sansone videos around march/april doing just 1 mile at a time, switching it up from different videos. Gradually worked my way up to 2, 3, 4 at a time, etc.
& like Sharon said, you should get some exercise outfits too, I did the same thing when I started working out at home so I don't feel all frumpy, we can still have fun and look cute too :)

oh annie- i am soooooo very sorry about your foot!!!! i can understand how upset you are not being to do your "Leslie walks"! :( but knowing you - you will find a way to exercise until you can get back on those feet! praying for you! hugs!

I did 2 miles on friday, 2 miles on sunday, saturday I cleaned house for 6 hours and did my hand weight exercises on those days.

this morning I did 2 miles. I used the Walk Slim 5 Really Big Miles and did the 1st and 3rd miles. tonight I'll do hand weights.

I should be getting her new dvd sometime tomorrow. it's called Walk if Off in 30 days and I ordered it from amazon after Annie gave us the link a little while back. I'm always excited to get something new.

WOOT, WOOT, WOOT!!! HOLLA, HOLLA, HOLLA!!! Just got back from a foot specialist, and although I do have a broken bone in my foot, I can come off of the crutches and out of the splint!!! Have one of those ugly shoes, but he says I can exercise when I feel like it, that it might even be good for it!! I am THRILLED!!! Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts!!

Will prob be a week or so before I give it a go as it still is VERY sore when I walk on it, but when it isn't....I'll be walking!!:carrot:

Day four of back to school. Got up at 4:45 each day to do the 3 mega mile. Felt like a zombie this morning! But when I got to the end I felt great. Not sure how this will work once I'm with the students all day, but I'm going to find a way to make it work!

I admire you for being able to do that! I start work at 6 am Monday through Friday, and most mornings I just cant pull myself together early enough to get a work out in! All my workouts are usually done in the late afternoon/late evening before bed

I did another new DVD I bought. I keep looking on Ebay and buying cheap ones!
This is "5 Mile Fat Burning Walk". I did the first 3 miles. I think I will start alternating this one with the 3 Mega Miles. However... also bought "Burn Body Fat & Sculpt Your Arms". Haven't tried that one yet.

The early rising at 4:45 caught up with me Thursday afternoon. I was sooooo tired at school, got grouchy and miserable. So I came home went to bed for 2+ hours. Woke up at 7, made dinner, did a few lesson plans and went back to bed. So I was fine when I got up today at 4:45. I think I am going to have to adjust this next week when the kids come back. I can't be tired and grouchy with them, even though they are high school. Plus I am teaching one night a week at a local college starting Thursday (EEEK!) - 5-10pm. So I am probably going to just take Thursday off and sleep an extra hour in the AM. I know it sounds crazy but our DD in a very expensive college - 2 more years! Hubby and I don't want her to have debt because we got my son through with none. What we do for our kids... :)

4 miles of the "5 Mile Fat Burning walk. I set out to do the whole 5 miles, but when I was in the middle of mile 4 the bottom of my feet were hurting. Actually not hurting, just sort of burning on the bottom, and I didn't want to risk making it worse and not being able to walk tomorrow. So I stopped at the end of 4.

I've had this happen when I used to walk our dog for a really long walk but haven't had it happen in the house. I thought it was the sidewalks. I could invest in some new shoes! These are pretty old --yet, sadly, they still look new, lol. Any shoe recommendations for walking? I looked on Zappos and was overwhelmed with shoes!

Hey ladies!!! I did Get Up And Get Started, 1 mile w/ 2# hand weights this morning. My foot did well, but I may stick to just one mile workouts this week, I do not want to rush things and bring on problems with my foot.

CalCounter, I've always work New Balance walking or crosstrainers when walking or working (health care). If your foot isn't too wide then Nikes would be good, too.

Teaching 5-10 tonight at a local college after teaching at my high school. Feeling so good with this exercise though!

Haha. I'm with you! In one of the Leslie DVDs there is about 8 punches where you shift your weight. I cannot do it when I have to punch with my right arm. It is something about the shifting I cannot do with arms. Actually I have trouble with shifting with no arms. I don't know why that is hard for me!

Hey all! I forgot to check in yesterday, so mark me down for a 1 Mile Get Up and Get Started with 2# weights. Only got in two days this week for varioius reasons, but my foot is feeling pretty good and I think I can do more next week.

I don't own 1 pound weights but I found some two pound weights from 20 years ago, the last time I exercised. :o They were too much for me to do the whole thing but I may pick up some of the one pound hand weights so I can mix it up.

Thanks. My foot is doing real well, but I feel like I've used it as an excuse not to exercise. Son started back to school and am trying to get back in the habit of getting up early enough to exercise AND make his lunch AND NOT get on Facebook!!

Gonna try for two in the morning.

We can do it ladies! I've put on a few pounds since vacation and the foot injury and have started a Halloween challenge with a friend.

Hi Sweetmalibu! YES, they are very effective. Doing these DVDs and changing the way I eat helped me to lose 40 pounds. I've struggled with a few pounds since losing, but have kept almost all of it off!! Give it a try!!:carrot:

Only one month after turning 33 years old in 2009, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Just 6 days after that diagnosis, I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke that left my legs weak and my right arm/hand paralyzed. I was on the verge of needing brain surgery but thankfully that didn't happen.

After months of therapy I regained the use of my right arm/hand and strength in my legs. I still deal with the complications of MS and still suffer exacerbations but the new strength I have gained does help to recoup faster. After a recent visit to my neurologist I may need a brain biopsy and that will slow me down for awhile but I will not let that stop me!

I needed to lose weight for my health and well being. Having MS makes it hard to perform certain moves, but I have found certain videos that are low impact but effective that I can perform. I still have to do the beginner moves for some, but at least I'm getting the workout I need to keep the weight off and my body strength up!

I work out at least 4-5 days a week and eat a low fat, low calorie diet. I drink lots of water and eat modified versions of my favorite foods. I've learned that with the right determination you can still achieve your goals.

If I can overcome a life threatening stroke, deal with MS on a daily basis and still achieve my weight loss goals anybody can!

Seems like the songs they have are always covers by no-name artists so they don't have to pay royalties. I'll check it out.

I didn't exercise today. My foot has been bothering me since night before last and I don't want to inflame it any more. Weird. I go back to the doc Tues. morning, but may try to get a walk in in the morning.

Thanks for sharing that story about the woman with MS, Carol. Makes a sore foot seem insignificant.:)

hey gang :wave: i've been exercising but forgetting to post - sorry!

I did 2 miles on friday, cleaned house all day on saturday, 2 miles on sunday and monday, came down with a big ole cold so i skipped tuesday and wednesday, but did 2 miles this morning. I used the Walk It Off in 30 Days!

I have a new one coming from amazon on tuesday called 5 Mega Miles and also preordered the Radio Hits once that comes out in October. I love all the new stuff - it's energetic and fun!

Annie - I hope your foot gets better each day!

Hi Cathy!! I like the newer walks, too. But I do get frustrated with all the boosted walking/jogging that I'm not supposed to do. I know she says just to stick to walking if you can't do high-impact, but darn it, I'm convinced that the high impact stuff burns MANY more calories than just the walking.

Hey everyone!! Got an unexpected day off today as my scanner at work broke at the end of my shift yesterday. Hopefully will be repaired and ready to go Tues. morning, so I get a 4-day-weekend!! Was SO tempted to sleep in, but got up at 7 and did the 2 Mile High Calorie Burn w/ 2# weights. Foot feels good today. I have some house cleaning to do, too, then I can get started on my weekend....oh, AFTER my 1:00 appt. with the dentist. With all the dental work I am now having TMJ issues, SHEESH!! THEN I can start the weekend!!

Wow! 2 miles with 2# weights! I just bought some hand weights but I can only seem to do the 1# so far. Are you doing it with a DVD where she is also using the weights or you just add them yourself?

I did 3 mile fat burn and sculpt upper arms - or something like that. I just did 1# the whole time. Tried more but it felt like I could hurt myself.

2 mi walk and kick. I could hardly get through it. Been canning corn for 2 days 120qt. 17 for dinner last night. Double birthday today for 2 grandkids. All are staying through Monday. I'm tired.

What ya been canning Carol?? Sounds yummy!! Editing to add, saw that it was corn....DANG, that's a bunch of corn!! Do you farm?

CalCounter, don't rush it, you'll work up to 2# soon enough. I don't use the weights unless they are included in the workout. I worry about hurting myself, too. I've had neck and shoulder surgeries, so am very careful.
