Mini-Goals - Apparently I kick it at the gym !!

Just wanted to share the best NSV today. I lost 145lb and joined a gym. In the past year I have gained around 30lbs but I think some is muscle/change of body composition. Anyhow, I work very hard and usually go to the gym at least three times a week. Today the very fierce lady who works there, who I avoid if I can, came up to me directly on the stepper. I couldn't avoid her, and was terrified she was going to tell me I was doing something wrong. Anyhow she said i worked terribly hard and she was really impressed. I explained that I used to weigh 300lbs and she looked as if I could have scraped her off the floor. She went away shaking her head in disbelief :) It was an awesome feeling for several reasons. One she acknowledged that I work my *** off. 2 she couldn't believe I was 300lbs. 3 I had been feeling really crappy about the weight gain, but realise I am strong, healthy, fit and best of all I no longer smoke or weigh 300lbs. I am heading off to Florida on Saturday, and I was scared. But now I can face the fast food, face the temptations head on and continue smashing it at the gym. The last two weeks solid has really helped, but the recognition today made a huge difference :carrot:

Thank you for the kind words. It really was awesome today. I have been feeling so negative about the weight gain, and now feel so much more positive. It proves that effort will be rewarded , and that despite my dysmorphic view, things are changing, progressing and improving.

That is awesome, starbrite! I'm glad she shared that she was impressed by your hard work and that she noticed it! I'm also thrilled that you were receptive to her noticing and complimenting you. There are a few people at my gym whose discipline and hard work impress me and I've often thought about letting them know. People can be touchy about such things and I don't want to inadvertently make people uncomfortable so I keep those compliments to myself. I know I wouldn't be if I was in your position, starbrite!
Kudos to you! Enjoy your trip to Florida with new found inspiration and confidence!

I hear ya Curvy. Sometimes it's hard to accept compliments. I met someone who hadn't seen me since I regained the 30lbs. She declared she was delighted to see me with more meat on my bones. I was hugely insulted by her comment, but she explained that she, and several others had thought I was way too thin before. It's taken me a long time to get my head round that comment.
