Okay.. this is alittle longer of a time frame for a challenge.. (I know that there are other ones started in other places, but please join in here if you wish! We would love anyone to join who wants to work towards a goal!)

Please start off with a Starting Weight then log or put your current weight (weather daily, weekly, monthly etc. whatever and however you want) and then put your Goal Weight for what you would like to reach on Monday September 2nd (from July 4th its 8.5 weeks) Plenty of time to see a big difference in your journey of weight loss.

I know you all will be winners in this challenge. Lets Start!

Ten Pounds Gone!!!

just ordered some workout dvd's off the amazon yesterday.....30 day shred, abdominal and butt, general toning, hopefully dh and I will pick up a treadmill this week for cardio.
What's your favorite workout??

No,no, no no....total since 6/11....been off and on for a few days in-between and I"m hoping this challenge will give the punch to work harder...that would be awesome to lose in 4 days though!!!

Hello Smith... yep its water! Somedays I eat saltier stuff... I have a hard time staying away from that spice... Sugar gotcha... salt... 1/3 gotcha... At least I use Mrs Dash to season.. but alot of the food is salty already even egg yolks!

I, on the other hand, Have a Death Wish out for the WATER FAIRY... Someone she tapped me on the head and inserted 3 pounds of water inside me? I totally understand eating bad after a stressful day at work, because emotional eating has been a huge problem for me too.

I definitely struggle too but I'm working harder now to eat more consciously, making better meal/snack choices instead of unconsciously reaching for the temporarily pacifying unhealthy carb laden snacks of my past (Potato Chips and Popcorn).

Don't let a tiny snack slip get you down. Your posts here keep me motivated, and I know you will bounce back and keep losing those pounds.

Happy Saturday!!! Well into my regular pattern of holding. Hoping to see the 180s sometime soon! My sister is very encouraging - she says I need to look at it as maintaing in the 190 s for an extended period of time instead of not losing. She really thinks a slow loss is better - so back to enjoying the journey! She has already lost all her pregnancy weight plus some! And the baby was just born 5 weeks ago! I'll probably reach my goal by the time my nephew is 18 years old!! Just kidding!

LULU... lol I think your sister is right! Slow and steady wins the race (at least that fable says that) LOL tho seeing some people on this forum lose lbs every day just (IAN) blows my mind! But I think maybe our bodies just adjust to being at a different level and maybe our mind is sitting still trying to cope with the changes that had happened. Shoot I am still 100+ over my goal and I have major stalls too. It just happens. Baby weight.. well that was pretty much fast on.... floating around and fast off (Hormones too have a hand in that loss). Lulu you are doing GREAT! Wasn't it May that you were in the 200's? and look.. you are on the doorstep of the 180's Pretty awesome!!

Me.. I lost 1 lb of my overnight water weight 3 lb gain surprise... just 1. but my joints are really swollen today.. so lots of water still hiding... Wish I could find it and banish it! LOL I know it will go away!

I've been super busy with work. I love seeing all the new people! I will get the treadmill this weekend and haven't had a chance to exercise for 4 days : ( I can feel the difference.

It's been so humid here and I know I haven't been drinking enough water. I know I have not exercised like I have done in the past esp with my crazy work week. So this week I WILL break 175! I first though that 24 pounds in 8.5 weeks was a little stretch but my the app on my phone makes it look doable....progress 38.7% time 41.25%

I need to re-adjust my GW too...I am gaining more muscle, my tummy is getting smaller and my arms are getting more defined.....I've got to focus more on tone vs weight.

Im back! Sorry I checked out for a bit. I started working in a hospital...my shifts are 10-14 hours 5 days a week and I have never been so exhausted lol. My diet was really tightly controlled my first two weeks, but I found it too hard to keep up with Atkins/ low carb. I basically dont get a lunch break, so I was going all day on 2 eggs, a cheesestick, and almonds. My stomach started to kill me so now Im transitioning to weight watchers which allows me more flexibility. Hopefully thatll work out, otherwise, Im gonna have to figure out how to fit in low-carb meals while working!

Id like to join this challenge, and Im gonna set a goal weight loss of 5 pounds but i have no idea what i weigh right now (i imagine its a bit higher than I last checked lol). Ill check tomorrow morning.

Shoutout to Sue and Lulu! You're both doing so well! Congrats!!! I read your posts from a few weeks ago and you're messages were very sweet so thank you! And also, Sue you asked how the test went that I took a little over a month ago, and I got my score back and....i did well!! haha thanks for your support =)

Argh.. had a Really BAD DAY at work yesterday... Meeting to air out stresses and it was all directed at me... I work too hard... I do all the closings, I click on an email task 10 minutes after it comes in and say I reacted too fast, I did marketing to get new business and was chastised when I actually met an office manager for a new possible client and the other girls were mad I did not ask them to come with me? WTF????? I just think they are worried about their jobs and they are just looking for things to get mad at me for... But since I have only been there 4 months I have to eat it... and it is REALLY HARD!

I am up.. and sad about it.... Had another stressful day at work... I am just keeping to myself so that I am not perceived as overworking... so that makes me sad... The other 2 girls are just happy as they have all the work now. I spent 2 hours just looking at our companies contacts to make the time go past.. I ...... just need to go find another job that does not waste me and my work ethic.... I have only been here at this job for 4 months and I had thought it would be a good job.. sigh.... (which the other 2 girls are complaining I am doing too much of.. gee wonder why?) I am eating on plan.. but eating more than I should...

4 miles yesterday but it only gave me .5, ugh! At this rate my attainable goal is 169. I was miserable yesterday so I took some measurements.....2 inches off the hips, 3 around gut and I am in a bra size that I can buy at a regular department store! :lol:

I tried the low carb pizza with the tortilla, didn't do it for me. I loved the looks of the one posted on low carb meals. Yummy! My fake floor tortillas don't have the crunch.

My scale is playing with me....I first stepped on it, dirty glasses and puppies afoot and it said 171. I smack my dh who was trying to shave and show him. YEEE-HAWW. So just before I jumped in the shower I did it again...174.5 : ( So that's what'll take. As soon I get back into a work schedule again I"m going to start RI30. I've played around with it a few days. it's a killer but I need to get committed. We're having a bunch over for a bbq tonight so I know the next few days are not going to be pretty.

Happy Sunday - still at 190!! I am hoping to get to 185 by August 29th - I have a doctors appointment and I'd like to be able to say I'm down 40 pounds by then .....45 would be even better but I have to be realistic!!! When I told my daughter I was about halfway to where I want to be she said "Boy!!! This is going to take a long time" Ha!! Out of the mouths of babes!! But it took along time to gain so much and I've been carrying it for years.....so still planning on a full year to get to where I want to be.

Smith - I can't do tortillas because it will trigger me to eat everything. I'm a carbaholic and not afraid to admit it. Like Wannaskipandlaugh said - I eat on plan but sometimes my portions are too big!!

My co-worker on weight watchers has lost 10 pounds in about a month. His exercise is competitive tennis - so he gets a great workout. He wants to lose about 10 more pounds!! His big aha moment was about portion size - he realized he was eating too much...wishing everyone downdowndown

I cant' believe how far you have come sue! Does it not feel great having lost so much?

I took Jerseygirls advice and went back to the basics to see if they does help. I am taking Sue's advice and picking up some lemon tonight when I go shopping. I've got some edema and hopefully that'll help get rid of it.

back down to 175.5....lowest was 174.5, hopefully pass that by the weekend. I've got an MD appointment next week and hopefully I can say I"m down almost 20 pounds, half my goal!!

Holding at 187 this morning!! Walking daily with my daughter - she walks for me and I walk for her!! She is my little Jillian Michaels!! Not only exercise but the conversations are wonderful!!

Smith - I bet your doctor will be impressed. Earlier this year my doc said a weight loss of 10 pounds was impressive because it is difficult to do and has health benefits!!

Wannaskipandlaugh!!! What can I say except THANKS for always being there!!! You are an awesome cheerleader!!!!! Hoping you don't have to wait too long for a downdowndown - as I really know what a pain it can be!!

Hi everyone,
My name is erika and I'm on my second day of low carbing it and I am feeling very nauseated. I did ideal protein a couple years ago and lost about 25 pounds. Now I work out about 5- 6 days a week for 2 hours a day but the weight is dropping at a painstakingly slow rate- like a pound every other month? Anyways- I kept the other weight off so I decided to try this. I just think all the fat is upsetting my stomach because normally I don't have alot of fat in my diet, but hopefully this will get better.:barf::barf:

blah...up a pound!! work stress did me in this week...del taco burrito (only one) then followed by taco salad with tortilla chips. No wonder, eh?

So the ladies at work are giving me guff about the nonsexist carbs in my life and suggest I eat cheerios for breakfast to bring down my cholesterol. I do not really miss bread or cereal but I LOVE tortilla chips and fresh salsa, frozen custard and really good chocolate. For some reason I've been craving pecan pie lately. I haven't had that for years!! I'm cutting back down to the basics this next few weeks.

Sue...lemon water is very good! I was so surprised, much better than the flavored squirt stuff.

Today I am really happy I restarted the journey this year!! 30 weeks in I like the changes and I am looking forward to more progress!!

my first few days were good, but then on friday my mom had me come to a suprise work party that they were throwing for her boss ( and I really didn't want to go because I was afraid my diet would be derailed) and my fears became a reality when I got to the party there was booze EVERYWHERE and WALL TO WALL FOOD. And I was coaxed into having a couple drinks- I had some sugar free drops i put in water- that i added to my drinks so i thought it wasn't as bad, but after a couple drinks my will power went down the tubes and I found myself eating half the homemade cheesecake.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: ( I'll tell you this tho, that cheesecake was one of the best things I had ever tasted before in my life- It was no ordinary cheesecake- I could have eaten the entire pie by myself.... but i think the other people at the party would have been a little upset... :o)
So now I'm a little discouraged because my sugar binge pooled into the next day, and now I feel terrible. I really want to get back on track- I have a job interview tomorrow and I would like to walk into it feeling good:D:D
Isn't the beginning the hardest? I'm just having a little toruble getting started I guess. I could use some encouragement and any tricks of the trade yall have :)

OH Muay... You just had one of those days! I am so sorry... Just dust yourself off and start right back on again... Right now! and yesterday will be a memory (and don't ask for the recipe of that cheesecake! LOLOLOLOLOLOL)...

My suggestion is to drink alot of water today... Just drink at least 64 oz and more if you can... That will wash away alittle of the toxins in your body and your will feel better. Once you have seized control today... Your mind will reward you with a great feeling that, yes you have control (as best you can) and if you have that ... you are darn well the best person for that job!.. :)

I think it's the fake sugar....I was eating quite a bit with the low carb ice cream, dt pop, dt jello, dt juice paired with my vodka. I started drinking beer and eating meat and veggies and cutting out the fake sugar and I'm down a few pounds this week....

My doc really liked my weight loss!!! Almost time to hit her up for med decrease....

Simply... I am so sorry if I had not answered your question about the beer diet... IANG (one of our wonderful posters in the 5 lbs off area - not doing Atkins however) eats breakfast and lunch and just has beer for dinner (NO FOOD)... Its a god send when you have a stall as it flushes the water out of you and as long as you do not eat... it works.... I just try it 1 night a week to get rid of the add on water weight... or if I have had enough. It does work... (He likes HOPPY Beers)... But this is not part of Atkins.. so I can't recomend it... I just had gotten to my last straw (but now I might have a physical reason for my stalls... will find out in the future when I get my Thyroid checked).. :)

Sue....:carrot: yea 60 pounds gone and forever!!! What a feat!!! You must be beaming!! I've been on thyroid meds for 15 years, some say it's harder even with meds to lose. Maybe I don't notice since I've been on them for so long.

ok sue it worked....171 this morning

My treadmill delivered yesterday but I had a few beers with the football game so I just played with it, today I've got to get busy with a test run. I may have to start with the c25k program.

I am back up to 248... but that was cause I had a teaspoon of Iodized salt to see if that would settle my thyroid (I have not had salt On my food (its in all food.. just not iodized) since last fall... so that might be a reason my thyroid is Not Happy) and of course I just felt the water getting soaked up... I did not pee for 12 hours after I ate that salt... SO WILD! LOL

Yeah back down to 246.5 Up 2 lbs down 1.5 lbs in 2 days.. Strange Life!

Thank you Smith and I am hoping that your scale is treating you nicer today!

I do have a Doctors apt on Friday... instead of my thyroid.. they are thinking its my Caritod artery/gland? Wierd... I just hope whatever it is... that its not a major item and anything to worry about...

I'm up to 173, I've been putting some miles on the treadmill so I'm hoping its all muscle. Either that or beer, but it's the miller 64, low carb/cal beer. I added another day to my work week too. I'm such a sucker!

Well I am back to feeling normal in my neck area after 11 days (well 95%)... so going to cancel the drs apt tomorrow.. but I do have a general apt in September... If this flairs up again.. going to the local Medical clinic asap....

Well I am in my whoosh week FINALLY.. down to 245.. but going out to Bonefish Grill tonight.. gnash teeth as I love the Coconut Shrimp argh... well salad it is... maybe I can get them to just grill shrimp (not on menu).. but get to see some of my Beading/Jewelry making friends I have not seen in 2 months.. :)

Oh loved the Coconut Shrimp last night (Only 2 carbs per Horrraayyy) tasty... and was hard to watch everyone else eat the bread, Crab cakes, Fish tacos... but that is ok...ALL that stuff is there if I want it tomorrow! just gotta remind myself that!

SO... Down another lb! yeah 244 now... Closer to 230's than the 250's I feel better... Now 2-3 more lbs so that I can have lost 6 for the month would be WONDERFUL!

Happy Saturday!!! Just checking in from my bittersweet staycation!!! Dropped my oldest off at college yesterday!! The past 3 weeks have been an emotional train wreck for me but I have stuck to plan as much as possible. Holding at 187 - so not going to get into the 170s for this challenge. I'm ok with that.....glad I have not gone backward. At the pizza/beer party at my sister-in-laws, I did not eat pizza or drink beer!!! Best wishes to everyone on downdowndown!!!

Happy Sunday!!!! It's my 28th wedding anniversary this morning!! We are going out to breakfast at a local diner and that makes it easy to do Atkins!! Steak at home for dinner tonight!

Ok so my non-scale victory...... I can shop the regular sizes now. While I was taking my daughter back to school shopping, I got busy trying on clothes just to see where I was and I don't need the "woman's" sizes anymore! Regular 18 or 16. I tried on clothes at Kohl's and Old Navy!!! It was exhilarating to say the least. I read an article that mentioned losing 10 percent of your weight and then if you need to lose more re-start your weight loss. So I am making a recommitment to lose the next 27 pounds!! Wannaskipandlaugh I saw your Christmas challenge and it inspired me too!! You will be entering Onederland for the new year!!!!

Hi Smith - I had to google and found the video on Amazon. I'm up for the challenge. I have been consistently walking 50 minutes a day - a 2 and 1/2 mile loop and know that I need to start something for when winter comes. I completely wiped out in my own driveway last year and can't afford to do that again! So an indoor workout sounds awesome! I'm sure my own little Jillian will be up for the challenge too but she will probably level up before I can even master the first level!! Holding at 187 but I feel like I am going to see a change this week. Loving tracking food and exercise on myfitnesspal - keeping me true to portions and calories - wish there was more of an Atkins "calculator" because there is no way I could eat all the carbs they allow me and still lose weight!!

Happy Saturday from the Northeast!!! Holding at 186 - so many comments and compliments from my co-workers at the meeting this week!

So many of them have started new ways of eating like vegan and weight watchers. One guy I know has lost 17 pounds on weight watchers - he uses a weight watchers online app and doesn't eat the extra food that he would be allowed because of his exercise.

Another lady has lost about 33 pounds on weight watchers and she started on whole foods but moved to ww after being diagnosed with diabetes. The vegan person lost 10 pounds - they read something like the China Study after going to the hospital with chest pains....

I did finally make 169 this morning!!! It was my last day and my body was being rotten enough to hold out on my until the very last minute!

Next goal is to no longer be designated as 'overweight'

10 pounds for me is 2 inches off the ribcage and 1.5 inches off the hips! I managed to do my tape and weight for my month of ripped too....

Well tomorrow is our last day on this short journey of weight loss. I hope that every one of you is better off and lighter than when we started! That is the goal! I am at 243.5 today... So I am better than when I started... Not as far as I had hoped but better than I was. Tomorrow hoping for 242.5! I really am... Going to do some outdoor trimming and weeding before it gets to 90+ today....

I've seen some great results online from her workouts. I want to trim my apple waist!!!! That is what is keeping me from moving down in sizes and the visceral fat is really bad for my health!!!

I am very happy with my loss or 12.5 pounds!! I've had some 'fun' times along the way like a weekend BBQ, pizza, handful of chips here and there and margarita or two but I've find myself comfortable with it in the end.

columbus day one sound good....Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue, what are you going to do? :D

I have to pull a few weeds out of my cactus's today....I"m done with the lawn mower and the weed eater! How I love the desert!

Hello and Happy Labor Day Everyone!

I have been reading about everyone's progress and struggles over the course of the challenge.

Since I joined the challenge on July 9, I have had a few struggles of my own, namely weight loss stalls, frustration with food choices, and for a week and a half, I even tried another diet altogether that made me feel awful, and quickly realized that Atkins is definitely the diet made for me. I was able to get back on the bandwagon and work that much harder to meet this Labor Day challenge.

I definitely surprised myself. Here is how things turned out.

I believe the short term challenge works well for me, because my much larger weight loss goal is so overwhelming.

I just saw the new challenge, which is Columbus Day. I am definitely going to be part of that, and I wish everyone the best at meeting all their goals.
