So one of the biggest reasons for losing weight was that my husband and I wanted to have a baby. Took the at home test today and I am gonna be a Mommy!! I am so excited! Waiting on a phone call back from the doctor to make an appointment! My hubby and I are thrilled!

Being so close to my goal weight I am a little bummed that I won't be reaching it by the end of the year, but its for an awesome cause!

I want to thank you all for all of your support! I'm gonna hang out here to continue being healthy throughout my pregnancy, but will obviously not looking to continue losing weight. :) I honestly don't know what else to say, so I'll just say yay!:carrot:

Went to the department of health to confirm it July 3 and I am 4 weeks pregnant. I have my first checkup on July 26! Gonna stick around here to keep me motivated to eat healthy and exercise and make sure I don't get into the mentality of " I've gotta eat for two."

Everything I've read about the 1st trimester is that I should only gain between 1-5 pounds. And since my BMI is overweight I should only gain between 15-25 total during pregnancy. I know that the baby will do what it needs to do and I may very well gain more or less. My goal during this time is to make sure I am getting balanced diet and keep up the walking. My friend said that swimming and walking are the best exercise.

GlamourGirl827 I see you are only a month away from your due date! Do you have any advice?

Seeing as I went from 160 lbs to about 220 lbs with my first two kids, and from about 145 lbs to currently about 225 lbs with this one, you may not want to follow any of my advice!
I did lose it each time so I guess that's good!

Don't be surprised if in the next few weeks morning (haha its all day) sickness is so bad you wont be eating much anyway. I lost about 7-10 lbs the first trimester with each and still managed to gain all that weight in the last two trimesters!

I think my first mistake was after spending the first threee months wishing to die from exhausion and vomiting, I did not get back to an exercise program when I started to feel better. And I was so relieved to be able to kee food down and have something besides broth and crackers, I just wanted to eat!!

I've have been walking the past month or so with this one, but it was too little too late. So I would suggest to keep an exercise program, even if you have to tone it back.

Also I did finally try to count cals with this one (not my first two), but honestly when I had a craving, I ate it, regardless of whether it was over calories or not. Now sometimes the craving was fruit and yogurt but othertimes it was ice cream. Even so, I'm still amazed I put on this much weight with each pregnancy. If I eat completely uninhibited without exercise when not prego I usually even out around 185 lbs, but the same think pregnant and I seem to stop around 220 - 230.

I would say don't do what I did. Instead, count calories, don't go over. Maintain exercise the whole time.

Lol! Thanks for the advice! I'm going to try my best! If nothing else I'm going to walk with DH every night, swim some laps in the pool and continue to be obsessive with counting everything. I love that My Fitness Pal actually has the option to Maintain, Gain 0.5 pound a week, and Gain 1 pound a week, so I can stay on top of everything! Now I just have to have the willpower not to give in to these cravings people keep mentioning. Luckily I haven't had that yet.

My sister in law gained around 70 with each of her pregnancies and I'm terrified that I would let that happen.

Congratulations!

So one of the biggest reasons for losing weight was that my husband and I wanted to have a baby.

That was me as well! :) Also like you, I was a little bummed that I was so close to a major goal that is now being put off until later (I was only 12 pounds away from no longer being obese), but of course it's all for a good cause. :D

I'm going on 17 weeks now and haven't had many issues with cravings taking over. I definitely have them, but haven't found myself binging; I think I can credit staying mindful by making continual use of my food journal. :write: Of course that may change in the coming months so shouldn't be bragging too soon! I'm sure you'll be fine with MFP, as it sounds like you already have a great mindset going into this. :comp:

Luckily I went through the morning sickness phase pretty unscathed, only dealing with nausea itself but not the vomiting. I haven't changed my plan a whole lot aside from allowing myself to eat more and cutting out caffeine. I did find myself getting pretty ravenous around the second and third months, apparently when I was building the placenta? It freaked me out a little to be more than ready for lunch at 10am when I'd already had a full breakfast at 8am! I ended up eating some extra mini-meals to get by and had to tell myself not to feel guilty over it, pregnancy requires extra nourishment! :hun:

I go in for my second centering class this week and get my first ultrasound next week! And I remember how anxious I was for my first appointment, as I wasn't able to get mine in for over a whole month when I made the call! My OB-GYN gave me the greenlight to gain 30 pounds, but my nurses would like me to try for 11-20 if possible because of my weight. I'm hoping I can stick with that but we'll see what happens. :preg:

Good luck to you, and congratulations once again!

Thank you Elladorine! How much have you gained so far (if you don't mind my asking)? I agree that journaling and keeping yourself accountable are the best ways to not go overboard. So excited! I'm noticing I'm getting hungry more too. Luckily I work at a hotel so I just sneak into the kitchen and grab a milk carton or a nonfat yogurt! Yum! Still working on upping my fruit intake, but I really can't stand fruit! Ick! lol.

No problem! As for what I've gained so far, I was at 215 before my very last cycle so I count that as my pre-pregnancy weight, but had gone down to 210 by the time I realized I was pregnant and needed to stop losing. I'm currently at 215 again (now going on 18 weeks) and am bracing myself for when I inevitably go over 220 (a major, major set point that I'd only managed to get under twice before now). Heh, and to think I was soo excited about getting down to 198 by June/July, but that'll have to wait until sometime next year. ;)

By the way, if you want to check out pregnancy weight gain calculators and charts, here (http://www.babymed.com/tools/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator-by-week) is a link to my most favorite one by far. I like it because it breaks everything down into a rough weekly estimate and is also something you can print out and discuss with your doctor.

Oh, and have you tried making fruit smoothies? I couldn't stand fruit at first myself but somehow blending frozen berries and bananas in with greek yogurt, protein powder, and various other ingredients (flax, chia seeds, etc.) for breakfast made it tolerable so I could get some in my diet. I eventually adapted to eating fresh, whole fruits and now enjoy them, but it took a while. :^:

I've got that first ultrasound this afternoon so I'm a little extra excited (and nervous) today! :carrot: Hope everything's going well for you so far, keep us posted.

Elladorine! Thanks for the advice and info! Will definately put that chart to good use! I like the smoothie idea and am definately gonna give it a try!

Hope the ultrasound went well! Let us know!

No problem! :) And remember that you can always add a little sweetener (stevia, monk fruit extract, splenda, etc.) to the smoothies if they're too tart for you (my main old issue with fruit). I don't even need to add sweetener anymore! I love using a Magic Bullet for them but any blender will do.

I just got back from the ultrasound a little bit ago, everything went great and we found out we're having a boy! :carrot:
