Thank you for starting this thread. I love the subject line! Starting weight for July is 186. I want to be 179 by the end of the month. Hitting the gym next week to walk on the treadmill. As I am recovering from a leg injury, Doctor's orders, no intense exercise just yet. Might try to incorporate light weights to tone my 'chicken wings'. Will have to measure this weekend. I really want sexy arms by the end of my weight loss journey.

Hi Carol. Yes you come back daily and edit. This helped me so much in this month that I can't wait to start July. I know when it's over I will be that much closer to my goal. And It's ok to copy. I copied from the blank June one and added another day. We can do this!!

Hello folks. I have missed the daily weigh-in thread. I am working on shedding a regain. That number over there <-------- is a lie; it is my all-time low, not something I expect to see again for some time. I clocked in at 175 this morning. I've been back on plan with a vengeance for a month; no binges in that time either, somehow. So I'm ready to put my hat in for the daily thread. See you around.

My goal is to be in Onderland by the end of July. This might be expecting a lot, but most of the month will be spent doing a sugar detox, and that always helps me push through...so we shall see. Otherwise I'd still be very happy getting to 205 (100 lbs lost).

Have to go to a meal in aresto tomorrow to eat a meal I don't want, to say goodbye to 4 colleagues. I have to make the speeches. Again. Gahhhhhhhhhh !!

I have some salmon and tilapia in the freezer those are gonna be my next trials I guess. Well up another .4 and I just don't understand. I did Just Dance last night and WATP for 1.5 miles and still an up. I think my calorie intake is too low but I'm not hungry so I guess my body may be trying to get use to the no junk, idk. On a great note my FBS are steadily going down so that is a plus. Gotta keep going so I can get them in the normal range then maybe the numbers on the scale will move :)

The sugar detox I'm doing is from Diane Sanfilippo on BalancedBites.com
I'm doing the level 3 version since I already eat Paleo (not processed food, no grains, no legumes) which for me means cutting out honey, pure maple syrup, Kind and Larabars, coconut sugar in coffee which means no more coffee, and all fruit. I've also made the decision to cut out sweet potatoes and rutabagas (which I love but are naturally high in sugar and carbs) I've found that sugar in any form is like crack for me, opening the door for all sorts of food debauchery, so the longer I can cut it out in every possible form, the better. Technically I can have a green apple or a green tipped banana once a day, but I stay away from those too.

While it's somewhat restrictive, I've learned through eating paleo that there are a LOT of ridiculously tasty meals out there. Especially since butter and bacon aren't bad words in the paleo world. (Everything in moderation, of course). I am getting the sugar withdrawls as today is day 4, but that's to be expected. Hopefully I'll soon lose the cravings and shed some more weight...we shall see!

Hang in there everybody. Failure isn't falling off the wagon or gaining a pound or getting frustrated...it's completely giving up. As long as you don't give up, you're still headed in the right direction.

Ona thank you. I'm staying focused for now but you know me, I tend to get derailed and I don't want that to happen. Seeing my CBS at 163 I think is what it said was a shock. It was just 187 on Sunday. It's on the first page beside my weigh in chart. I need to get it under 90 I believe. And I so want to be in the 180's :)

LebenAlles thanks for sharing :) I like this -----> [I] Failure isn't falling off the wagon or gaining a pound or getting frustrated...it's completely giving up. As long as you don't give up, you're still headed in the right direction.[\I] thanks :)

I started the month off with a gain. For some reason, I don't do well with challenges. The thought of having to be accountable stresses me out and makes things worse. But I am going to continue. I am trying to give more thought to what I eat and mainly, how much. I made grilled chicken yesterday and chicken is about the only meat I like. It's supposed to be a healthy choice, but I ate 3 pieces. My intention was to make extra to have in the refrigerator but I guess I can't do that anymore, because I eat it instead of wrapping it up for the next day. My husband eats 1 small piece and fills up on potatoes. And he's never had a weight problem.

Starbrite - I'm glad to hear your DS passed. Sometimes they just don't realize how important school is.

Rennie - Like you, I struggle with my FBS. I am not ready to start sharing those numbers yet. LOL

Hi everyone! I am new to the site and new to the 100 lb club. I am starting this morning at 232. MY goal is to hit 132. That might be a bit ambitious but I am going to give it my best!!!

I have a 4 day camping and rock festival trip in 2 weeks with a group of about 20. It is usually a bad eating and bad drinking situation. I'm aiming to do 80% better than last year!

I made a very silly bet with my husband on goal weight. He never ever has said a thing about my weight btw. Never. I want a Camaro bad and have wanted once since the 2010's came out. He keeps saying if you want one get one. I am very practical and have not. I had dh promise if I could hit my goal weight within 18 months from today HE would go get it for me since my practical self would talk myself out of it again.

LebenAlles :congrat: on hitting your goal. :high: We're in this today I feel the same way ... I have to make it through the long weekend :)

Carol Sue, if you try to put it away immediately will that help? I told me kids that there are too many of them and we can't afford to pay for college so they had better keep those grades up because we are looking for all of the scholarship help we can get :) My FBS was just ridiculous in the 200's but it was my own fault. I do need to see a nutritionist though. But cutting out the carbs is really helping. Now just to remember to take the second dose of met. I forget most days so they are never spaced the 12 hours apart. I'm posting mine beside on my weigh in page. It's just an easy reminder for me to see that I can do good if I try :)

Chelle nice to meet you and :welcome: to the thread. :) Best of luck to you on your goals :) What are you doing to reach your goals? A Camaro, nice gift for sure :)

I recently did the cabbage soup diet which helped to jump start me again. I thought I was doing good but something is giving me a few points up each day so I'm not sure what's happening. I usually just count calories but I'm diabetic and the counting without subtracting the sugar and starches isn't helping my fasting blood sugar so something had to change. I also started doing 30 minutes of movement a day so hopefully the scale will reflect that some day. I'm going to take my measurements tomorrow when I get up as suggested by another 3FCer on another thread so that even if the scale doesn't change, when I see inches fall off that will give me some joy :D

A few NSV's for me with food ...

My son made tilapia last night and boy was it good. He made 3 for me and I ate one and said I would have one today and one tomorrow. I almost ate a second one but I asked myself do I really want it because I'm hungry or because it is there and I wanted it because it taste really good and it was there. (didn't eat it) I was cleaning the kitchen last night and the corn bread was sitting there and I started to have a corner of that, but then I covered it and left the kitchen. The kids had potato salad for lunch today and I absolutely love potato salad. I started to eat just a small Dixie cup but I said nope, I brought my lunch and that salad isn't included. (didn't eat it) I'm doing pretty well with telling myself NO so far :yay:

Thanks for the welcome Love :) I am doing low carb. Not counting carb or cals yet but staying with the allowed foods. I did this once for 6 years straight and felt amazing. Why I went the other direction still baffles me. I am also a diabetic and know I need to quit with the no no foods I so love. I got diabetes as a thin young adult. It sure isnt any better with what I have been stuffing in my face. I sure do want that Camaro!!!!

I have been getting more walks in but that is a far as I am with exercise so far. I dont want to do anything major until I am settled on my plan. Too much trying to be perfect at once tends to send me in a tail spin.

Good job on the NSV!!!! You did fantastic!!!

So does everyone have great weekend plans? I always find weekends a challenge as far as not falling so far off plan the wagon rolls right over me.

Chelle three years ago I was only walking 3 miles a day 6 days a week and counting calories using something similar to myfitnesspal which is what I use now and I lost 30 pounds. I did very well until I started working a graveyard shift. Unable to walk and eating in the middle of the night and snacking during the day. You can definitely do it just walking and using weights while you walk helps tone. :)

I post on this diabetic thread
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/diabetes-support/284177-july-reports.html

we don't have any plans, no money to do anything with so this will be a peaceful, resting 4 days :) That I hope don't go by too fast :D

Ok where is everyone? Did all of you go out of town for the holiday?

My eating today has been pretty on point ...

Breakfast
light peach yogurt
2 apples
coffee

Lunch
grapefruit
cabbage soup
salmon patty (only ate maybe half) it wasn't good

snack
tilapia

Dinner
(none) not hungry before church too late to eat afterwards

Well I don't feel like doing anything tonight and since I didn't have dinner I really don't feel that I have to. My plan was to make Wednesday my only off day anyway. So back to it tomorrow. I need to find an outdoor track and then I can really get the ball rolling :) Even though it was a short work day, I just feel drained. I think I'm gonna finish my tea and call it a night. At least that's the plan, nothing else to eat for sure :)

I only had time for a weigh in post this morning. I had a choice exercise or veg. Glad I chose exercise because it was the only 31 minutes I got today. Ate fast food for the last meal but still my sodium was under 2500mg so hope the scale likes me in the morning. Fiber way down. Delaying shopping for veg and fruit because we are going away the weekend. So no weigh in for me those days.
I hear you on the salmon patty. I bought some a month ago and froze one. Hoping to add it to something else to kill the taste of it. Funny thing is I like salmon cooked in restaurants but grind it up and it's nasty.
Chelle: Welcome!

LOL Carma, my middle son made it. I typically make it just like you make a crab cake but I use the flax seed meal instead of break crumbs. I don't know what he did but it just had absolutely no flavor. He said, "I'm never cooking for you people again, nobody wants to eat my food!" I thought if you take short cuts and it's nasty to us then you eat it! Did he finish it today, nope :D I'm trying to stay under 1200 with the sodium. I totally hate that bloated feeling. I'm going to the store Friday hoping to do this cabbage thing a few more times. I really need to keep this focus. Have a wonderful trip. :) Good job on the 31 minutes :high:

Phew that was a long and stressful week ! Nearly over thankfully.
Got up at 5am to take DD and DD's BFF's to a four day rock festival and camping trip. They were so happy and upbeat. Got there and managed to circumnavigate all the idiots and get them to the gate of the campsite. They were whooping with joy, as we had everything but the kitchen sink in the car :)
Back home now, had breakfast for the first time in an age. It was delicious !! I have been eating oddly lately, and it has messed with my brain. I have actually lost about 2lbs this week, but haven't felt good because I ate bread. (Bad trigger food for me)
Anyhow, one more day at work and then two months of summer (I'm a teacher) Am planning an attack for the next few weeks to get me ready for Florida.
Nice to see new faces (an old of course) Have a happy day :D

Hello everyone. Sticking to my plan, doing okay, chipping away at this blasted regain.

I have a 4-day weekend, nominally, but I also have a twice-yearly deadline at work coming next week, so I'm spending most of the weekend working. Just have to stick to my plan despite this.

Good luck and good strength, folks, and remember those holiday cookouts are nice but there is nothing served at them that you'll never get another chance to eat.

Hmmm, down a pound this morning. I'm trying not to get too excited because I've been here often enough to know that its never a steady downward trend.

Rennie I also love talapia. I don't get enough of it because DH doesn't like it. I make it for myself when I can easily make something else for him. If it's beef, he'll eat it. I also love salmon. My mother used to make great salmon patties and I like them, and DH will eat them too, just not too often. He likes fried fish, I prefer grilled or baked. When I was growing up my mother fried everything, so I think I had my fill by the time I reached adulthood.

I think my overeating on second helpings came from childhood, when we knew there was nothing more to eat until the next mealtime so you made sure you ate enough to keep you from getting hungry before the next meal. We ate nothing between meals and nothing from dinner to breakfast the next day. We never had to be forced to clean our plates because we were afraid not to.

Enjoy your holiday, all those in the US.

Happy 4th of July and Happy Thursday

Sam good job on the 2lb down but glad your stress is almost over  What are you planning for your attach phase?

Thanks Carma :) they were looking great. I didn't eat dinner last night and forgot to take my Met at 7:30 and didn't take it until 10pm I think with a glass of milk and my fbs was 185 this morning. So back to the start again. I'm back to posting on the Diabetes Forums also. It really helped before until I just stopped and gave up like diabetes is just gonna go away. I got am email yesterday from the ADA with some new recipes I plan to try to get this life of mine in order. I do hope they help :)

Joy same here, just gonna hang out in the house. :) Enjoy your day of relaxation :) oops that's tomorrow ... well have a great day today :)

GM Chelle, Happy 4th of July to you also :)

Hi carter, thank goodness no cookouts this weekend for us. :) I'm trying to eat right and get my head in order for a family cookout coming up on the 20th. :) Don't work too hard.

Carol Sue, don't I remember those days of cleaning your plate and sometimes not because I wanted to because I had to. I'm not big on beef though I just had a burger for breakfast because I can't go food shopping until tomorrow and it was in the fridge from my beef and tomato day last week. My husband prefers fried everything drives me nuts but I decided about 3 years ago that I'm not going to fix something different for him. There were 7 of us in the house at the time. The kids all ate what I cooked so he had to also. I won't fry fish or salmon patties because that fish smell stays in the house for days. I can't stand it, LOL. Enjoy your holiday also :)

well no change on the scale 190.6 is a keeper. My fbs was 185 this morning. The only thing I can think of is I didn't have dinner. I forgot to take my met and when I remembered it was 10ish so I got an 8oz glass of milk because the met makes me nauseous without food. Then I went to bed. Better luck in the a.m.

Good Morning and Happy Friday

I'm up .2 to 190.8 and my fbs is 180. I am having Corn Pops for breakfast why because I want them and I'm hungry. I'm grateful to be up and to see the sun shining but I'm in a blah mood this morning, my stomach is a little achy/tight if that makes sense and I'm not sure why. I'm going to the grocery store today so I can get back on plan and start the scale going back in the right direction. I'm hoping for a great weigh in to start my weekend off right tomorrow.

Oh a brighter note my son said he can tell my stomach has gone down. He was looking at himself and said his still looks the same but Mommy's looks different so that made me feel good. :)

Have a great day Ladies

TGIF ladies-
Went this a.m. and did a 1 hour weighted water aerobics class with a few people from my class and wow did it feel good! Just a great all over work out not to mention i just love the water anyway so that made it more enjoyable for me im sure lol. Of course i was starving afterwards so went to shoneys and had the salad buffet with fish and shrimp. No eggs croutons bacon bits or ham and a small amount of honey mustard and water w/lemon. A huge lunch ill admit but i kept my calorie count and ate healthy.
Rennie- sweety i havent forgotten you! I have the pix and your info and ill get them to you this weekend for sure. My dad is diabetic and i set him and my mom and sisters up with the program and in 2 weeks they have lost between 8-11 lbs and his sugar has started to regulate better than it has in ages. They are also the reason im slack in getting to you cuz ive been busy getting them straight along with my 2 classes.
Hello to all the wonderful new people im sure you will all love it here and do an awesome job! Remember a mistake isnt failure, not trying is!

Joy good to see you. No problem at all I do understand. Great day you had today :)

Seaurchin maintaining is always better than a gain. I guess I basically maintained also. Stuck on 190 point something each day. :)

I went to the store and read every single label for the things I purchased for ME. The kids said Mommy do you realized we've been in here over two hours. I told them they should have stayed home so don't complain :D

For dinner I had a fajita I guess you can say. It consisted of chicken, peppers, cheese, pinto beans, a bean and cheese dip and sour cream on a low carb tortilla and I am full. Still gotta do my exercise and get the rest of my water in I am way behind on that which is rare for me.

4 th of July did me in and I'm up a pound. I didn't eat a lot, but I had carbs which probably increased my water weight. Potato salad and a hot dog with a bun. It was delicious!

I'm not going to make my goal for the month if I don't get more serious about this. The potato salad is gone and I won't be making it again now until Labor Day, so I don't have to worry about that.

Went out to Martha's Vineyard yesterday with elderly family which meant both lunch and dinner out and not a lot of exercise opportunities (just a bit of very leisurely walking). I did all right. I ate a grilled fish sandwich for both lunch and dinner (two different restaurants), and flat resisted temptations like alcoholic drinks and ice cream. My best estimate of calories for the day had me within plan so I have no complaints.

It's in the high 90s today and soakingly humid so I doubt I'll get much in the way of exercise. I feel like a steamed dumpling.

Carol Sue, those are my favorite things at a cookout/barbecue  I'm up a pound also but I think mine is more so due to the lack of water and little exercise. We'll get it off and out in a couple of days :)

carter LOL on the steamed dumpling :)

Sam, congratulations on the new car. I remember you said the guys in the garage were on you about your old car. Glad you got a new one :)

Amanda, Kukkie and Ona, woohoo were are you?

I had a blah day yesterday. I'm having to deal with more in my life than I would like to but I know not more is put on me than I can bear I just need to stay prayerful and work through it. I had an issue with my stomach most of the day feeling alittle achy and then I developed a headache that just wouldn't go away. So far today I feel good but I don't want anything to eat. I am eating a yogurt because I had to take my Met. Kroger sells CARBmaster cultured daily blend with only 4 carbs and today I am having the caramel spice cake flavor. Weight is up a pound to 191.8 but fbs this morning was 168 so that's 12 down from yesterday. :) I had an ok eating day yesterday considering we spent a lot of time grocery shopping and I was starving by the time we left. I was good I only had apples on the drive home. I actually didn't do too bad calorie wise but slacked off on my water and only did 15 minutes of exercise.

I'm glad to see more of you today. :) I know I'm the chatty one that obviously has no life if I'm not working. :)

Have a great day everyone

Today was my free day so I was able to splurge, which I definitely did. But, I went shopping afterward and I am now stocked up with good things for the week ahead. Tomorrow is a low-carb day, which is always a challenge for me. I have asked that no one bring treats home (or they at least have to hide them). I figure I can't eat it if we don't have it.
My exercise area in the basement is completely full of toys right now so I was not able to get a workout in today. DD will be taking care of that problem tomorrow so I can get back to working out. No worries though- tomorrow's plans include rearranging furniture and lots of housecleaning so I will burn some calories one way or another.

dewitt, good plans for tomorrow. :) What do you normally have on your low carb days?

Leben, hanging off but you are still there, nice job :)

I am down the pound that I was up yesterday but I am sure it will be back tomorrow. For some reason I just wanted to taste everything and you know what? Everything taste blah. I had a piece of a sugar cookie I spit it out. I had one cheese nip, not tasty, I made a steak quesadilla, I took out the steak not that it wasn't good but I didn't feel like chewing the steak. I made some sugar free cup cakes now those were pretty ok but they have an after taste. I bought some truvia for the first time in place of my Splenda and it is not good at all. However that didn't stop me from eating two :D I want to do the all fruit day again tomorrow like I did last week. I need more focus. I have tried to do it the last two days and it has totally not worked. I seem to stay more focused at work so let's hope I can kick start myself again this week.

Been a busy day... dd had an early morning dental appt which let us know that she will have to have her wisdom teeth cut out soon because they are already coming in and her jaw is to small just like me only i didnt find out til a few yrs ago so at least we can get her right before things get bad. My middle boy had to have the same thing done last summer for same reason. Then took her to the community college to take the 1st of 6 tests for placement in the advanced diploma program which she passed so she will take 1 a week til complete and she needs to pass 4 outa 6 to qualify so wish her luck! Tonights dinner is stir fry fresh veggies and corn on cob and lean baked pork loin. No salt added only italian seasoning, poultry seasoning and mrs dash table blend. Finally lost a bit. I was at 197.75 this morning. I went really low carb yesterday and it did the trick. I always try to eat low carb, because it is my best bet for weight loss and also for my FBS. Most times my good intentions go by the wayside. I decided I'd better get with the program because my diabetes isn't going to go away any time soon, and the complications are not pretty.

My BS before I went to bed was 167 and when I woke up it was 169, so no liver dump during the night. I realize these are not "good" BS numbers, but compared to what I have been having, I'm headed in the right direction. I think it takes a week or two to rid your liver of glucogen, and I'm not even sure if I know what I'm talking about here, but it should take some time to get the BS reading back to where they should be if I continue to keep the starchy carbs out of my diet. I just want to keep this up for today. I'll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

hello all! sorry for the disappearing act, I've gotten way off schedule. I met my biological grandfather for the first time EVER over the fourth, and let me tell you it was an emotionally charged event. He gave my dad up for adoption when my dad was 8, and so their relationship was obviously strained. He's 82 now and I'd like to have a relationship with him.

ANYWAY. weight loss

Hi everybody, newbie here :) I need help! I'll eat a good breakfast and lunch, but by the time afternoon comes I'm snacking left and right then I'll feel horrible and just give up for a few days. Maybe I'm not eating the right foods during the day, but I feel so hungry in the afternoon. What can I do to change this? Any tips or tricks? Thanks all.

carter
07-10-2013, 06:57 AM
Hello ValerieK, it would help if you said more about what kind of plan you trying to follow and what you are eating for those meals. There is nothing wrong with snacking, either, if you choose snacks that fit your plan. So there are ways to work within your own habits and tendencies and preferences rather than assuming they are "bad" and trying to change them thoughtlessly. It might help if you started a separate thread, too, because this thread might not be as widely read.

As for my check-in: I went over plan yesterday, by an apple and a plain greek yogurt. :dizzy: My working principle has always been that if I am legit hungry, as I was yesterday, I can go over calories once in a while if the extra calories are from nutritious foods. It just seems sane to me to listen to my body in that way. I was pleased with my choice, because I had considered walking out to the frozen yogurt joint, which surely would have been more calories for less nutrient value.

I'm holding at 172 but more important than the numbers I sometimes feel I have control of this regain. I've lost about half of it now - maybe a little less than half depending upon how close to my previous low I feel I can reasonably get. I am fighting the urge to binge but - so far - I am winning that fight.

The next few weeks will be tricky - I have two weekend trips in a row, and the weekend is when I usually cook my dinners for the week, so I might not get to do that for a couple of weeks. That means it's going to take a little extra discipline and diligence to stay on plan during those couple of weeks.

So... I'll be here.

Good luck and good strength, all.

My weight stayed the same today. I did well with the low carb again today, at least so far. I ate a handful of corn chips right before bed last night and my FBS was up a bit. I know I can't do that, and I can't really say that corn chips are something I like, but they were there and I ate them. The only starchy carb I had today was a steak fry at Texas Roadhouse. DH didn't like the seasoning on them and wanted me to try it. Twisted my arm, he did. LOL I am getting into the habit of ordering a salad and veggy with my meals instead of potato. And I actually passed on the rolls. I sure hope I can keep this up.

I went a little over calories again yesterday, again on nutritious food. I'm not delighted about this but not too worried either. I changed my exercise routine this week and I think the change is leaving me legitimately hungry - it will take some adjusting to.

Heading to the mountains tomorrow for my company's retreat - picked a great, fairly strenuous hike for Saturday, which will do a lot to offset the freely-flowing booze and food that characterize the rest of this event... :dizzy:

But what I have found out like my good friend Ona has been telling me for years if I cut the carbs, I'm not as hungry and with me most evenings I can't even eat all of the dinner I have planned. Read through the threads on 3FC they are a bowl of information :)

carter, :high: on the apple and the yogurt. Discipline and diligence is what I need also :) You've got this. Have fun on the retreat, what I have observed from you over the years is you are a strong woman so eventhough you say the hike is strenuous, it will be a piece of cake for you :) Enjoy.

Joy good job on the pound down :high:

Did y'all miss me? Nope, I know but just thought I'd ask. Gotta make myself feel good sometimes :D

My weight has been the same basically and I am satisfied with that. It seems each time I think things are getting a little better in my life something else shows it's face. So the stresses of life are trying to take over but I am determined not to allow it because that is what keep me away all of the other times I left 3FC. Glad you all are here. I weighed in at 191.8 this morning which is definitely a shocker since my son decided he wanted chili and cheese fries after church last night. I couldn't resist. I was proud of myself though because when I felt full I actually stopped eating. I have never recognized that signal while eating something that wasn't good for me. I would typically eat it until it was gone. My fbs was at 188 not good at all the last descent reading I had was on 7/6 at 168 not good but better than today. Gotta get back there and also get back to the 180's before the month ends. LOL in my dreams :D

Have a wonderful evening everyone

Gmornin yall-
Another rainy day and flood warnings galore! Dont want to complain simply because of the drought and fires out west. Ill just be thankful and keep those people in my prayers.
My goal today is to go to a 9a.m. core workout class but im so not a morning person so im really trying to get myself motivated and psyched for it though.
Rennie- your always missed lady friend! And im still in the process of gathering all the info i can for you to help you in your journey as much as possible. Let me get off here and get my butt going ugh! Have a great day!

OnaMi, you were right about it being sodium. I am down to 197 today. I would like it to go faster....it seems like the weight just jumps on, why can't it just fall off? LOL

Renni- I normally can't pass up the bread either. It is my major weakness. I used to bake home-made bread (frozen bread loaves) and I could sit down with the warm loaf of bread and a stick of butter and eat the whole thing. That was heaven to me. Now I don't make the bread at all, but like an addict, I would love to do it one more time! Last night I had a grilled chicken salad. DH ate the french fries. When the waitress brought my salad she said "Oh I forgot your garlic bread." and took off to get it before I had a chance to tell her "Never mind." I guess I didn't try very hard to stop her. Then when she brought it, I felt obligated to eat it since she made a special trip to get it. Isn't that the exact type of excuse we make when we eat something we shouldn't eat? I've got them down pat. Anyway, the garlic toast was so good. It was the garlic and butter that got me. I just wanted to suck it out of the bread. LOL

Hello Everybody

Aw Joy thanks  I sure need it I am slowly slipping back and I need to get a grip soon before I completely fail at this attempt to do right :)

Carol Sue, I love the garlic toast at restaurants  My Mom use to make yeast rolls until I told her that I was buying them at the supermarket and though they weren't as sweet as hers they are really good. I bought some Land-O-Lakes cinnamon sugar butter and the kids wouldn't eat it said it didn't sound good yet they mix sugar and cinnamon and use a ton of butter making it themselves (silly kids) so this evening I opened it and made each one of them taste a piece. My youngest boy ate 3 slices. I only ate a square, it's really sweet. But butter bread is really good to me .... ok done with the bread stories. :D

I had a taste for tacos today so I stopped at Walmart on the way home bought more of the low net carb tortilla shells. I had 80/20 beef, lettuce, fiesta shredded cheese, sour cream and salsa now I'm full but I really want something sweet. TOM should have come yesterday but he was a no show. My boss said I just have so much going on that I'm just too stressed though I did spot a little (sorry if TMI). My weight today was 192.6, that's up .8. I really think it's the TOM bloat but idk. We shall find out.

Ona I bought some TVP. I plan to make my chicken chili again. I also finally found the oat bran down here so I'm gonna try to get back to the Dukan way as much as possible. I didn't really like the oat bran but I will give it a shot again. :)

Well have a great evening everyone

hey ladies. So my weight is anywhere from 201 to 198 as of this afternoon, the scale is pissing me off right now I can't get reliable readings. so I'm gonna share some embarrassing pics of what I've been up to the last few weeks.

First pic is day 1 of Insanity, second pic is day 6.

Rennie - I grew up eating toast with butter, cinnamon and sugar. I haven't had it in years. I know the cinnamon would be good for my blood sugar, but definately counteracted by the sugar and the bread. LOL

I love tacos, but I don't eat the taco shell. I prepare all the ingredients and then put it all over lettuce and eat it like a taco salad. And if we buy take-out tacos I scrape the filling into a bed of lettuce. Not perfect, but darn close!

I am back up to 198 this morning. There's two ways to look at this. I am only down 1 lbs from when I started on the first of the month. Or, if I continue to go up one pound, down two pounds, at least I'm going in the right direction. I guess this is why they tell you not to weigh every day. I had a sandwich with a roll for dinner yesterday but it wasn't a slip up. I thought about it very hard before eating it. I hadn't had a whole lot to eat yesterday and I decided that I can do this once in a while as long as it doesn't become an every day thing. Hmmmm, garlic toast on Thursday, roll on Friday, sounds like I AM making it an every day thing. I will have to think this through again. I would rather have had the sandwich and passed on the garlic toast with the salad, so I will try to keep that in mind for the future.

When I was first diagnosed type II DM I was in the hospital recouperating from heart surgery. They were giving me bread every day. I was allowed 5 servings of carb at each meal. That sounds like a lot, but a serving is 15gm, so a big plate of pasta is not one serving. I chose 2 servings of milk and 1 serving of fruit at each meal. At breakfast I was adding cereal and a piece of whole grain toast. Lunch and dinner usually included veggies which are carbs, but not starchy carbs. They had me on insulin but by the time I left the hospital my blood sugar was low enough that I only needed Metformin. I continued that diet for a few months after I went home and I lost weight and kept my blood sugar under control. I don't know if it's because I strayed from the diet or not, but my blood sugar gradually became worse and now I would never be able to eat that many carbs and have controlled blood sugar. I have heard that you have to keep tight dietary control and regular exercise to keep DM from becoming a progressive disease and I have not done these things on a regular basis. I blame this on the fact that I had 2 major surgeries in 2011, but I should have gotten back on track as soon as I recovered and I didn't. By that time, I was out of the habit and I just can't seem to make myself do it. My doctor said "You can, but you don't want to." And I guess he's right. :-( I want the problems to go away without doing what I know is necessary to make them go away.

Amanda, I do/you can see the difference. I'm sure that is why it is called Insanity huh? :D Way to go Lady. Keep up the great work :high: And the pictures I use to post on here would always be sideways not sure why but it's ok, we get our neck exercise in that way :D have a great workout today :)

Carol Sue you know the other thing I use to eat when I was a child/younger was rice with sugar and butter  so good. I have never thought about eating a taco on just lettuce. I'll have to try it next time. The tortilla's that I eat are high in fiber so they help me in that way also. I need all the help I can get in that category :) I forgot cinnamon was good for our blood sugar.

I want the problems to go away without doing what I know is necessary to make them go away.

your quote above is me all the way. I think I am gonna add that to my signature as a reminder, if you don't mind. As of today I have gained .8 for the month. I was 190.0 on 7/1 but 189.6 on 6/30. It is what it is.

My weigh in this morning was 190.8 that's 1.8 down from yesterday, fbs was 178 this morning. I didn't take it yesterday. But like Carol Sue said I'm gonna have to make some changes if I want to get the weight off and the bs down. Started today with a cup of bran cereal no milk, a banana and a tall cup of coffee with sf caramel mochiato. Don't know what I'll have for lunch. My SIL is here and I haven't seen her in a year. I miss her so much. She said she was thinking about moving here. I really wish she would.

Have a great day everyone and I will do my best to stay on point :crossed:

Thought I had lost one post but I guess there was just a delay in it so they say almost the same thing. (deleted one)

Happy Sunday to YOU ALL

My SIL was here for the weekend. We spent most of the driving around looking for blue crabs which the city is out of. She and I aren't use to that since they are plentiful in the Washington Metropolitan area. It was weird to hear for sure. So if and when I get a chance to go back to the Northern Virginia area I guess I'll have eat my fill at that time. :D

I got up this morning to an up of .8 weighing in at 191.6. fbs 199. I can't get it right :dizzy: I did have fried fish yesterday with a few hush puppies but that was earlier in the evening. Not sure why I can't stay focused. Well the good thing is she bought the kids McDonald's and I didn't eat any but coming from my Auntie's I just remembered that I had a hot fudge sundae so that didn't help did it? :)

Have a great day Ladies, hope to see you soon

Hey
Had a really bad day. Met an old friend who hadn't seen me since I put on the 30lbs . she told me "I looked good with more meat on my bones !" This upset me. I also spoke to my brother who is fond of telling me he only has 14% body fat and that he only needs to lose 5 packs of butter to be totally lean. Well, we are going on holiday with him and his wife in 2 weeks. I feel crappy because I've gained and he obviously feels good. Gahhhhh need to get head in order. Can't go otherwise.

Gmornin ladies-
Hope yall had a good weekend. A friend and i set up a booth at a flea market all day saturday which made for a long day but i did pretty good food wise with lots of fruits to snack on and pretzels. I did end up getting chicken tenders and fries but i rarely eat deep fried anymore and stayed within my calories so i was happy. Ive been going thru a lot of stuff in the house decluttering and just weeding thru everything so thought id see if i could make a few dollars and donate what didnt sell, did pretty good and itll get added to my run fund so every little bit helps. I even managed to get a late night jog in after i got home and took a nap and relaxed a bit. Yesterday i didnt do much of anything at all except catch up on my favorite programs ive been recording and my eating was good and clean. All of my muscles are sore and stiff from all the new workouts i did last week so im hoping for a good weigh in at class wednesday! My daughter and i pitched in and bought the insanity workout but havent started it yet and now that ive seen AKAs 6 day results im kinda anxious to jump in... awesome results girl! My dd her bff and i are going to the beach today so im gonna get as much exercise as i can in while there since its my favorite place to be. Have a great monday yall!

I think I just lost my whole post I typed out. Hope I'm not repeating myself.

I have not been on the scale for a couple days because I feel fat and don't want to see a gain. My BS was 143 this morning and although that is not good, it is so much lower than it has been in the past few months. I have been limiting my starchy carbs while not eliminating them and I started taking Metamucil. It is said to lower cholesterol and BS. The first time I took the recommended dose (1tsp in 8 oz water) it filled me up so much I could barely eat my meal. I think it swells up and absorbs your food and whisks it through your intestinal tract, so your body does not absorb all of the glucose into your blood stream, or something like that. Last night before bed I took half dose, 1/2 tsp in 4 oz water. You have to drink a lot of water when you take it, and that fills you up, too. If it is going to lower my BS then I will continue with it as long as I don't have any bad side effects. I got the sugar free. I try not to take it around the same time as I take my meds because I do want my meds absorbed into my body properly.

Starbrite - I will say your friend chose a nicer way to tell you they noticed you had gained. It's possible that they did think you had lost too much weight. Sometimes people get used to you the way you were and think you are too thin when you lose. As for your brother, men naturally have a low fat level because of their muscle. Don't compare yourself to someone else. I am new here and don't know much about your weight loss journey, but from your stats, you seem to have done very well.

OnaMi - Maybe your brother is just concerned about you since you worked so hard at this and he doesn't want you to blow it all. It's hard to say without knowing what your relationship is with your brother. My husband used to make horrible, hurtful comments to me. I don't know why he quit doing that, but I'm glad he did. He thought an insult would make me try harder to lose weight, but it just discouraged me more and caused me to resent him.

You can't just lose weight and then go about your life. It is going to be a constant battle the rest of our lives.

Haha, I am glad. :)

I am back from the weekend in the mountains, rewarded with a 2-pound bounce upward. I am not too concerned about it. I controlled my eating and drinking at the company parties about as well as could reasonably be expected. And that hike I took on Saturday was a serious workout - 9 miles total, with about a 1700-foot elevation change.

Back to normal today, normal workout, normal eating.

Sam, I know it is easier said than done because I am constantly reminded of my once before weight loss. And the person that told you that you look better with more meat on you what does she look like? Please look at yourself and say I am healthier than I was and the victory is mine. I have loss the weight and I have not regained it. You may not be where you want to be but you have still made a great accomplishment more than some like me can say.

Joy glad you're weekend was OP and quite productive. Way to go :high: I :cp: you and Amanda in Insanity. I am clearly just lazy I guess. I don't want to do the least of the workout DVD's :)

Ona great job at Mother's ... be proud of yourself :) I was stronger. I haven't done well the last two days at all but thank you anyway :)

Carol Sue I would love to see the 140's for bs. Mine has been high the last two days, smh. Not good at all. I tried Metamucil years ago. I don't know why I stopped and whether it worked or not. What is the time difference on taking your Metformin and drinking the Metamucil? Glad you found something that is helping :)

Amanda I have a scale that does that also, I put in the kids bathroom :D my oldest boy likes it better for some reason

carter great hike and great burn, Nice :)

Well I am up to 192.4 and I don't see it going down anytime soon. I am not sure what is going on with my body. I thought TOM was finally starting today but nope. So I am totally confused. Well I haven't been OP. I start my day off right and by the time I get home its all down hill. I hope that each new day is a better day and hope that I can actually stick with it.

Have a good night everyone

Rennie, I'm not sure, but I think Metformin stops your body from releasing glucose into your blood. When taken right before you eat, Metamucil forms a gel and carries your food further through your intestinal tract where it is absorbed more slowly, which is always good for BS. I was reading up on it online and some people say it did nothing for them, but some of them were taking it on an empty stomach when there was no food in their stomach for it to absorb. It's psyllium husk, which is soluble fiber. It is imperative that you drink a lot of water when you're taking it. I must not have been drinking enough so I'm having some difficulty, if you know what I mean. I did not take any yesterday until I get my body working correctly again. My BS was in the 180's today.

Carol Sue I have had an issue in that area all of my life. I may try the metamucil again after I read up on it some :)

Today I was up a pound to 193.4. The scale is clearly moving in the wrong direction. TOM finally started so that explains my bloated feel and look this morning. I didn't feel good at all. Didn't eat a lot today but came home from Bible study really hungry and had some premium rounds ... we'll see what my weigh in is in the morning.

Rennie, I am no longer recommending the Metamucil. I don't care how low my BS goes with it. I feel terrible. I am never constipated. I am getting really concerned about it because I had part of my bowel removed and then reattached and I remember the surgeon telling me to be careful not to get constipated. TGIF! Hope everyone had a good week. I went to the dentist yesterday and had 2 bottom broken molars pulled out, one on each side. Im a bit sore today and been restricted from physical activity til monday. This is the start of my journey to a healthy mouth so ill endure the temporary discomfort for it. Next month is a good cleaning and the start of getting 8 fillings done. Once i get the foundation in shape and healthy i will then be fitted for a bottom back partial plate which will definitely make me feel better and more confident.
Ladies i take a powdered fiber supplement every day with each meal to be sure i get 30-35grams of fiber a day. It can take up to 3 days to get the "full effect" and benefits from it. You should focus on fiber mainly from diet and use the supplement to tweak it. A high fiber diet is a great way to lower and maintain sugar levels. High fiber, complex carbs and exercise help regulate sugar naturally. And never eat fruit by itself when your diabetic, eat it with a lean protein to slow the absorption of the sugar so there isnt a spike in the levels. Hope this helps some.

What fiber supplement do you take? I thought this was what I was doing when I started the Metamucil, but it's not doing what I thought it would do. Normally, I get my fiber from lots of veggies and some fiber crackers. I also take a stool softener as recommended by my surgeon. I never had bowel problems, but I thought the Metamucil would lower my FBS, and it did, but at a cost I am not willing to accept. Thanks for the info.

Wow no one has been on here in a few days. I hope all is well with you all.

First let me say TOM was only around for two full days. That is a complete surprise and has never happened before. They were very heavy days and then spotting for one day. Had a family cookout on Saturday. I ate two hot dogs, watermelon and store bought pound cake. Came home and played the Wii with my children. My oldest daughter, her husband, my Mom and her husband were here. This was the best weekend I have had in a very very long time. Everybody stayed here which has not happened since we move to NC. I was just overjoyed. My weight was up 1.8lbs the next day but that's ok. I knew it would be. I didn't weigh in yesterday, it completely slipped my mind. I was down 1.2 today to 193. I am definitely not going to have a loss for July but I'm ok with that. My fbs this morning was 170. It had been in the 200's most of last week. I have had a very stressful month. I pray that August comes in with some cheerfulness :D.

Well you all take care, hope to see you soon

Thanks, OnaMi. I did manage to keep that binge under control so that it didn't turn into a multi-day thing. Phew.

I continue to chip away at this regain. I dropped to 170 today, 18 days after I dropped to 172. This process teaches patience if nothing else. These last few days have been rough. I'm battling a chest cold, lying around alone a lot, and wanting nothing more than to eat a pint of ice cream for dinner. I have white-knuckled through that and stuck to my on-plan meals and I'm very glad to be rewarded with a drop today.

I continue to feel my body returning to its trimmest state as well, which of course matters most, but I admit the scale numbers are still satisfying.

Hey y'all. I'm here!!!!! Struggling, but here. My brother in law got married at the end of June, which was a big fat Indian wedding. And with that came much family from out of town, so a lot of taking them around and eating out. And then we had another wedding, the daughter of a family friend - yet another big fat Indian wedding. I'm so over the wedding season and all the crap eating that comes with it. But then we moved into an extremely fussy stage with the little monkey, so there's been not much sleep in my house lately. He seems to be okay-ish today. Yesterday was the first time that I cooked a proper meal in weeks. Felt good. Hubby and I also went for a mighty longgg walk yesterday.

It's been a really long, stressful few weeks over here. Hubby is off from work for medical reasons, sort of. Although they haven't quite figured out the cause of his issues, they have ruled out what they originally thought it was, but he hasn't been cleared to come back. So he's been off for about 6 weeks now and going stir-crazy. The stress isn't helping either of us.

Despite all that, I am determined to keep change happening. I'll have to find some way, I don't know how yet, but some way to keep things in check for myself. I've been eating a LOT of junk lately, and just not caring. And then stupidly weighing in in the mornings as if the scale is going to move downwards with that. Smh. All that said, I have sort of maintained this past month, hovering around 201.

Back to the basics now. I haven't read through and caught up yet, but hope all is well with you ladies.

Great weigh in Ona and carter :high:

Kukkie Great to see you  the joys of Motherhood and life :dizzy:. Hope your hubby gets better soon. I am sort of the same way with the junk. I did the cabbage soup diet, went down 7lbs only. It said you would lose 10-17 but not me. I tried to do it again and couldn't get the whatever I had the first time back. I am starting to show myself that I obviously can't do anything right for longer than a week. Then I need to switch it up (do something else for 7 days) and then go back to whatever worked (if I did it right and stuck with it) :D

today I'm up .2. Like I said yesterday. I know I won't show a loss at all for July but I am happy not to be in the high 190's so I guess that is something to smile about. Fbs this morning back in the 200's. I'll get it together soon, prayerfully.

OK NEED A CLEVER NAME FOR THE AUGUST THREAD I await your ideas ;) thanks

Hi folks. :coffee:

Another good weigh-in today - down to 168, wow. I don't expect it will stick. I have been sick this week, which means very little exercise. I suspect once I get back to the gym I'll pick up a little fluid weight and bounce back up to 170. But I will take it for now. It is good to be back in the 160s, to feel my maintenance range is within striking distance again.

The good thing is that despite being sick and (consequently) home alone a lot, I have managed to avoid using the sickness as an excuse for binge eating or even overeating. I've stayed within my calories all week, mustered the energy to make myself healthy dinners, not picked up trigger foods on my early way home from work. Somehow I found the will to do that!

I've learned a lot from this regain and from the hard work it's taking to undo it. Even though I only regained a fraction of what I lost, it did not feel good at all. I really hope I can avoid regaining again.

I use the equate (walmart brand) sugar free orange flavor. If the high fiber is new to your body and way of eating it can actually cause constipation at first and will level out as your body adjusts to the healthier way. How many days have u been on the metamucil?

I thought I had been eating enough fiber before, but maybe I wasn't. The supplement you are taking should be equal to the SF Orange Metamucil I have. It took me about a week to get things back to normal. Now that I know it was probably the Metamucil and not a problem in my bowel I may try the Metamucil again, but start with 1/2 tsp daily and work upward from there as my body adjusts. If I get bad constipation again I may have to give up on that idea.

Rennie - I was on a stool softener for a long time after my surgery and it worked well but I don't think I was meant to take it forever, just until I was healed. I quit taking it and I was fine as far as my bowels were concerned. I wanted to take the Metamucil for the BS lowering factor, and it did do that, so I would like to be able to continue.

My weight has just been going up and down the same few pounds. July has not been a successful month for me, but August is another month!!!

Ok weigh in today was 193.4 heading in the right direction today, yay me. Other good news is my fbs was 149 this morning. I only had the slim fast powder with a cup of 2% for dinner because I wasn't really hungry but wanted something sweet, go figure right and that did it. I'm not sure if that is what helped my bs or the fact that I didn't remember to take my met until around midnight, regardless. I will definitely take that fbs over any that I have seem in the last two months. :D

As for me..I've been working my butt off.killing it at the gym.had some stomach issues.salads go straight through me :( still trying to figure out things...since i like to WI after exercising it's getting hard to do that cause of the early morning gymmimg,etc..but overall well please about my mentality w/food.Last WI was 183.4 w/o any exercise.will push to get a WI I like by the 1st :D working on leting my body catch up to the scale.

Since I've been spending more time in the gym and not so much time just jogging, looks like I'm getting better results.IDK..I just know I'm liking the way i'm shaping up.loosing a lot of inches!

Yesterday while geting ready for Church, something told me to try on this dress that I haven't been able to zip up in a while.Low and behold,it zipped and i wore it :) got home tried on another one that was tight across the bust and it fit :carrot:

At mothers and haven't eaten anything unhealthy cause it's not worth it.

I know that July is almost over but I wanted to speak up here anyhow! This was a great thread to read through! I only weight in once a week, and I only started my diet at the start of the month, but I still want to share my weigh ins with you all! I think if I tried weighing in each day it might not really be as motivational as it's been just doing it once a week. I was using Tuesday as the start of my week because that was the start of the week at my old job, but this morning I decided that Monday would be my weigh-in day instead.

(Starting date!) 07/02--258.8lbs
07/09--252.4lbs
07/16--251.6lbs
07/23--249.2lbs
07/29--246lbs

Yesterday was such a bad day! We had to take my boyfriend's grandmother to visit her sister (who is in a rehab center right now because of her back), and while we did have a good, healthy breakfast before we set out, we were out *forever*. So by the time we'd taken her back home we were both more than ready to eat. I should have chose the Subway but we went to Checkers instead. I did learn one thing, though! I am eating so healthily right now, and actually enjoying myself, that I absolutely hated how fatty and gross my burger tasted yesterday. Blech!

:)

Ona good to see you  Way to go Lady. LOL, huh I would love to see a number I like on the scale before the 1st also but I will take any number under 195 :D. :woohoo: on the NSV's with the dresses. It use to make me feel really good to wear something to church that I couldn't fit and people would actually notice and compliment me. Now I don't have any thing to wear much, thank goodness it's summer and no one cares what you wear. I wear lots of suns dresses they hide every thing with a jacket or a sweater ;).

fairandfee :welcome: to the thread. :) And :congrat: on your weight loss so far and on the new job. :) Good for you that the burger tasted bad. I wish something would taste bad to me ... Um um not at all, smh. :D

Joy where are you? I'm use to you checking in often, miss you Lady

Carol Sue how are your bs doing? I read the long post from another poster on the July Reports, but I didn't read through the entire thread. I've missed a lot. Hope all is well

Sam, how are you? How's your vacation or was your vacation?

Kukkie, I know you're busy with the baby. :) Are you getting things in order since the weddings are over for now?

Amanda just saw you on the other thread, hope all is well

carter, underwater and seaurchin

I hope I didn't miss anyone ...

the scale was down again this morning .8 to 192.6. fbs was 172. I ate some sour cream and onion Pringles with my son before bed. Hoping to see the scale go down another point something in the a.m.

hope to see you all soon and on the August thread

Hi all from sunny Florida. Feel ok- met up with my brother and family. Was ok because I lost a few pounds before we left due to major league exercise and excellent eating. Not doing so well with food here but am adjusting.
Wtg Ona on the clothes. That's awesome :)
Well off to the gym, then lazing by the pool - happy days !

Hey all. I'm jumping in here for the last day and a half of July and will be around for the August thread. I started back at WW earlier this month and as of this morning I'm down 10 lbs. Tonight I had dinner at my sister's house. I had plenty of points to use, and kept my portion sizes reasonable. But I'm really worried about how the sodium will affect the scale tomorrow morning. I know that if it's just water weight that will drop back off in a couple days, it doesn't REALLY matter. But I really don't want to see 290s again on that scale in the morning. That said, I know that skipping the weigh-in, just because I don't want to see, doesn't really do me any favors in the long run. It just enables my strong sense of denial. I will weigh in the morning. Hoping for the best!

Good Morning ALL ...

Ashley, :congrat: on the 10lbs down :cp: I know what you mean on the sodium. :)

Well I got up this mornig to 189.6 that's 2lbs of water and crap gone for now. We know my history and the 1st of the month I am always up again. I have yet to figure that one out either. My fbs was at 172, still smh on this. I have a few things I want to try to help lower my fbs but I'm not able to at the moment.

Joy I still need to get with you for your help. July was an even more interesting month for me so things didn't go as planned. I hope all is well with you. I'm gonna have to do some back reading to see if you told us something and I missed it.

I hope everyone has a great end of the month weigh-in :crossed:

Well that sodium jump wasn't as bad as I thought, up .6 to 290.2. Hoping that will drop back off by tomorrow morning. My "official" weigh-in for the week is usually Saturday, but I'll be out of town for a wedding, so my official WI this week will be tomorrow morning.

Ashley, looks like you flushed a bit of it out with water, way to go :high: Drink plenty of water today and see the new decade in the morning :crossed: for ya' :)

I'm not going to change my ticker until tomorrow hoping that I can stay OP today. Hopefully I can come home this evening and not eat something that I have no business eating, or just not eat after 9pm. Sending :dust: to me and everyone else today for a P.O.P. day (Positively On Point) :D

Have a great day all

Lost four pounds this month! Didn't quite make it to 179, but that's okay. I'll try harder next month. Late August is my 12th anniversary! If i can get to 175, I'll hit 'marriage' weight! Gosh I can't believe that I've been obese for 12 years! Then my next mini-goal is my 'met my hubby weight' of 155 which is the end of this year. Final goal is 'you never saw me this sexy' weight at 130 by early next spring. See you gals in the next challenge!
