Weight Loss Support - Miami Here We Come!! 4 Month Transformation!!

My wife and I are going on vacation for my 29th birthday at the end of Oct. We are starting this log to keep ourselves motivated in our new fitness endeavors and hopefully get a bit of support from the community here. We're both starting over in our health and fitness quest as past efforts have been hit and miss. I feel like 4 months should be a good amount of time to see real progress if we work hard and stay focused. If there are any questions for either of us please feel free to ask. My wife will be making her account later and updating her info etc.

Goal Wt: 165

I want to start going back to the gym, eating better, and ultimately look better. I'm going to try and get in the gym a few times a week with some lifting and some cardio. My diet will consist of mostly meat, vegetables, some fruit, and a protein shake sometimes. High protein, high fat, semi-low carb approach. I plan on giving updates about how my experience is going a few times a week. I'll try and upload a picture soon so we can have progress pics and before and after pics to compare. If anyone has questions feel free to ask.

Hey Everyone!!! This is my first time posting anything online. I have no clue what I am doing. LOL... Its a really good thing I have a very supportive husband!! So a little about me... I am a mommy to a soon to be 4yr old little boy and a 3mth old girl. At my largest I was 265, I am currently 216 and would love to be 125 again. I am trying to get out of the habit of turning to food in times of stress, sadness, nothing else to do and so on. I would like to be happy and healthy again. Look sexy for my hubby, and be around for my children and our 2 crazy dogs.

Welcome! 3FC has been a great support system for me, lots of wonderful people. Also, my husband and I started our weight loss last year and we have lost about 190lbs between the two of us. It really helps having someone else to do this with! :)

Just out of curiosity is there any other moms who work full time and have young children? My oldest is 4 and youngest is 3 months. I am just wandering how people find time and energy to work out. yes, I know I am lazy. :) I am eating better and less, but I don't feel like working out after work. I also am gone for long hours so I feel like I don't spend the time with my family like I should. Oh and my house is a mess. Does it get easier?! Any suggestions?!

Welcome! It's great that you are doing this together and have each other for support! Mommy, I don't have young kids at home any more but I do work full-time. I'm an early bird so I take advantage of that time to get an early workout at home before work. I'm usually up around 5am or so and ride my recumbent bike or go for a wog (walk/jog) with my dog if it's nice outside. I also get to the gym over my lunch hour a couple of times a week--usually weight training. When I get home I'm usually too tired to work out but housework is good exercise for everyone! Get the whole fam involved! Crank the tunes and see what you and your husband and kids can get done in 30-45 minutes. Best of luck! :)

Thanks for the advice! My husband recommended waking early for a walk but its hard to wake up early when i am up most of the night with a 3 month old that is teething. Something I guess I just need to do. :/ lol...

Mommy, I recently stopped working outside the home, but our kids are about the same age. Especially with my 4 month old up so often at night, i choose to get as much sleep as I can rather than wake early for exercise.

I restarted on May 1, and since then I have only been Calorie counting. I also make an effort to incorporate active play into my time with my kids. Now that calorie counting has become mostly routine, I plan to add exercise in again. This seems to be a good path for me; you may consider it.

I second Sunny's advice. Focusing on diet alone is enough for now. You'll drop weight just by doing that.

Sleep is important for health in general, but also for weight loss. It's better that you get the sleep you need than deprive yourself to exercise.

Eating healthier foods and dropping some pounds will give you more energy. Maybe at that point, fitting in some exercise will be more doable. And no, you're not lazy! :)

Things are going decent this week. I'm losing weight so far, but I will only report my weigh-ins from Monday mornings most of the time. I had fajitas at lunch b/c a rep took my co-worker and myself out to eat. Of course I could have ate something else, but I didn't. I haven't made it to the gym at all, but I've been doing a bit of activity with my son outside. I need to get with the program ASAP.

I need to loose 16 lbs and I will be back to pre- pregnancy weight! That is so exciting for me because it took me almost 3 1/2 years to loose the weight from my first kid. (not that I was really trying) That is my even shorter goal ;)

Thank you mommies for the advice! I really do enjoy my sleep, when i can. I would love to be more active with my 4yr old but he loves it outside. Its hot way to hot for me. LOL... I feel like passing out even at night its sooo hot here! However I do like chasing him around the house or walking in the mall. AC is my friend!

I'm not sure what plan you're doing, but make your own healthy version!

You can use ground turkey instead of beef...make your own fresh salsa to help control the sodium and sugar that is in the store versions...use corn instead of flour shells.

I make chicken enchiladas occasionally. My boyfriend who doesn't have weight issues likes flour tortillas so I make half the pan with flour and the other half with corn. His half also gets more cheese than mine.

It sounds like you're doing great so far!

Monday weigh in was 185. Definitely glad to see that much of a drop considering I had a few bad moments this weekend. I had a few beers Sat/Sun, but other than that I did ok besides maybe having a plate too much at dinner. We'll see how this week goes... We're going out of town from Wed-Sun so we have to try extra hard to eat consistently with our goals. Thursday night will be our cheat night on the 4th!!

Monday weigh in was 188.6 which is a 3-1/2lb gain over the last week. 1-1/2lbs of that are already gone after weighing this morning. Some water weight from all of those carbs and extra food. Of course there will be some fat gain as well from those bad choices. Tons of crappy food over the holiday, but we had a blast. Back to the grind...

You can do this with any kind of filling, but have you ever used a lettuce wrap as your taco?

I don't know how many carbs you are aiming for in a day, but I love Ole Extreme Wellness Wraps (http://www.olemexicanfoods.com/high-fiberlow-carb-8-wraps/) to make any kind of wrap, burrito/enchilada, or even pizza. Each one has only 90 calories, 5g protein, and 9g fiber.

How cool that you two are doing this together! Great support system :) My hubby has cupboards filled with candy and junk food, and eats pizza in front of me so I can really appreciate your spouse dieting with you!

Mommy -- I've got a 7 month old and a 6 yr old. It is exhausting, but I've been managing to fit in a workout almost everyday. I tried just calorie counting, but nothing really happened for me. So I started running. It was horrible at first (I HATED running). I would just do a few minutes at a time and walk the rest. Now I'm running a 5K in 1/2 hour. Since I started running, the weight has been melting off.

If you can find something that is really cardio for you, I would suggest fitting it in when you can. I completely understand the lack of sleep (I am getting about 5 hours of sleep a night, interrupted. Yay!) Sometimes I pawn the oldest one off on daddy and I nap with the baby. Of course, then that night I run after the baby goes to sleep. Otherwise I try to run when the baby is napping. When it isn't so hot I run outside with the baby in the stroller and then she is occupied while I exercise.

Although I would love some nice rest time in between working, cooking, cleaning, parenting, wifing, etc...I decided for me, I wanted to not be fat anymore more than rest time. So I bought a treadmill and I fit it in when I can, even if all I really want to do is go collapse into bed, lol. I literally run sometimes at 11 at night just to fit it in. Not that I am saying you should do this -- just no matter what you try to do, you are not alone!

I was in a rush this morning and didn't weigh in. I'm not expecting to see a great number though b/c last week was not ideal. I screwed up almost every day in some way.

This week I'm starting a keto diet and sticking to it. I'm shooting for around 2,000 calories with under 30g of carbs per day. I plan on taking a picture and posting it today or tomorrow. Then hopefully I will take a new pic every month to show my progress.

After quite a bit of drinking Saturday night I still managed to weigh in at 181.8 this morning so I'm pretty happy with that. I'm looking forward to this week.

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I posted. No good news. I have not been eating healthy this whole month. Weight has been up and down. Yesterday I was 205.6lbs. I did take the dog for a walk and pushed the baby in a jog stroller. It felt great! I have been slacking, lazy, and not dedicated lately, and moody. My poor Hubby ;P. Feeling kinda bla lately IDK why.

Starting this week at 180lbs. I'm going back to my old love of Lean Gains/Intermittent fasting in addition to my low carb scheme. I've seen pretty good results with it in the past so hopefully this time will be no different.

The only thing I did this week was a walk w/ the family. I have been lazy and bla. Last weight was a little under 206. I think the BC I was on played a part in my crappy moods lately. I changed BC and I'm starting to feel better. Now time to try to eat better and get in some exercise. Good Job to my hubby who is amazing and doing great as always! I love you baby!!

Today's weight was 178lbs. I'm increasing my carbs a bit and not going so low carb so I may fluctuate a bit still with water weight changes.
