Good morning! Our next challenge will be for Friendship Day, which is Sunday, August 4, in honor of how close "cyber buds" we have become! Everyone is welcome! Set your goals and jump right in:D

06-18-2013, 10:29 AM
I'm going to go for less intense due to all the stressors. I think I can hit 210 by August 4th. That's only 7.2 lbs. If I hit that on target I will be all set for 205 by labor day.
So my goals:
L ose 1.5lbs a week.
O pen up my mind and meditate 5 minutes a day to goal of 15 minutes
S trength train 30 minutes 3 days a week. MWF.
E xercise 60 min/day/ Eat 1800calories or less 6 days/week 1 cheat day.

06-18-2013, 10:36 AM
Gee, I dont know...August seems so far away and I lose focus over time..but i"m in. I'll have a mini goal for fourth of july. Later ill log in again to tell you alll how I plan on getting to goal.

And yes, we have become friends and I cherish my online buds tremendously!!!

06-18-2013, 11:35 AM
Yea, a new challenge which I'm in at the beginning!! :carrot:

Hmmm...have to think of a challenging yet attainable goal in just under 7 weeks.

I like the push up idea. Currently, I can do 5 pushups (mostly...the last 1 or 2 are questionable ). By August 4th I'd like to be able to do 10 good ones.

And I need a weight goal. I'm at 185 this morning (:(). I'm shooting for 179 (out of the 180's). Doesn't seem like much, but at the rate I've been losing ~2 lbs per month, this is a stretch.

06-18-2013, 12:20 PM
Thanks Jennifer!! I feel renewed with new thread :D

My goals:

Drop 6.6 pounds 150.8 ---> 144.2
Challenge: LUNGES!! 100 lunges 3 x week.
Continue with weight training 3 x week
Continue with my almost daily walks (5-7 x week)

06-18-2013, 12:46 PM
Sw 184.4
Gw 175.0 This Is Also My Short Term Goal
Exercise 5-6 Days A Week
Lift Weight 2-3 Days A Week
Do Some Exercise That Works On My abs

06-18-2013, 01:02 PM
I seem to do well with " red line" goals. So my goal is simple: weight below 148.

I cherish my friends here and feel sad when people disappear :(

06-18-2013, 01:14 PM
I am in! I have a lot of family gatherings over the summer, so there will be lots of big meals in my future. I'm going to set my goal small, and hope to do better than I expect, like in the last challenge. Also, as my weight goes down, I know each pound is going to be harder to get off. I'm going to set my goal weight for this challenge to 145. That's only a 3 pound loss, but with all the company I'm going to have over the next couple months, I will be lucky just to maintain!

I also pledge to stick with my other goals of at least 30 min of exercise per day, and keep my calories under 1300. Also, 30 min of strength training 3 days per week.

06-18-2013, 02:18 PM
I'm in, too.

My continued goals- maintain bf%, eat OP, weights 3x week, dog walks

My new focus: Improve chin-ups.
(0) unassisted
(13) with 2 bands

06-18-2013, 03:16 PM
Ok, here are my goals:

Weight: Lose between 5-7 pounds, so I go from 167.2 to between 160.2 and 162.2 (would be thrilled to be in 150s by challenge end!)
Exercise: Walk 3.5-4 miles 5x a week, and complete a 30 day squat and plank challenge.
Diet: Eat as cleanly as possible, limited processed sugar and carbs to a weekly treat at most.

We can do this!!

06-18-2013, 03:40 PM

As crazy as it may seem, this is going to be my exercise challenge. It's only 30 days, so I think I can do it!!

06-18-2013, 04:26 PM
Okay...here I go.......

Short term goal 140 lbs by fourth july
Long term 135 by Friendship Day

My plan:

walking for as many nights as possible in the week
ZUMBA I will now be teaching five mornings a week
weightlifting three times a week ( I got a 30 day pass for the 24 hour gym)

The real challenge is FOOD

Low carb lifestyle ....Belly Fat Cure to jumpstart with. No bread , rice, flour of any kind for the first week or so. then will add berries, oatmeal, whole grains.....

Get some kind of help for my emotional eating.

06-18-2013, 04:57 PM
My goal is still to get to the 140's. I will take 149.9. I will place this goal a Bastille day, as August seems really far away. Maybe I can get to 145 by August 4th.

I also want to post daily calorie counts. Just cant get away from The First Law of Thermodynamics.

06-18-2013, 06:35 PM
Thanks for the new challenge!
Love the friends on here, I'm like Newleaf, sad when someone disappears.
I've disappeared a time or two, but always came back, I always do better when I'm here!

My goal will be 159.9, it's about 7 weeks, right, so that's about 6 lbs, doable.
Oops 5 pounds, even more doable, hopefully!!

Nothing fancy stick to my plan through festival season!
And start doing push ups!!

Best to all :sunny:

06-18-2013, 07:07 PM
Jen: wow thats some exercise challenge. Maybe I should add that to mine. The pushups are pretty daunting.

06-18-2013, 07:19 PM
Carma: I did the first day today with a few modifications! I combined the sit-ups and crunches number and did all crunches, and I did knee push-ups (still tough for me). I felt pretty good afterwards though, so I'm hoping I can stick with it for 30 days. I definitely think you should do it with me :)

06-18-2013, 08:18 PM
Hi ALL I'd like to join you if I may

I've been in the 190's forever

today's weigh in 196.8 ... I'd like to be out of the 190's by 8/5 actually

~push myself to eat OP
~push myself to do some movement at least 30 minutes a day 6 days a week

06-18-2013, 09:41 PM
Welcome Rennie:)I'm dreaming of the 190's.
Jenn: Boy am I glad to hear that your doing girly push ups. I was able to do 5 of those. May try the stair push ups. I will start one day behind with you and do it tomorrow. Girly or stair push ups. But I will hold my plank for twice as long as it says as I will probably only get 8 push ups at best. I did the 30 day squat challenge so I am thinking the squats will be no problem especially since they aren't increasing in number. ;)

06-18-2013, 10:48 PM
Welcome Rennie!

Jennifer: Quick idea: If knee pushups are tough for you - Try doing pushups with your hands elevated. Like on the stairs, wall, bench, etc. Much less painful on the knees and it engages more of the core. And you'll need that core for 'real' pushups!

Also - you might be better off skipping sit ups and crunches and doing more planks. Google 'why you should never do crunches'. Plank variations are the new situps/crunches! Sit ups are hard on your neck(hands pulling when you come up), tailbone, etc. :D

06-19-2013, 06:34 AM
2fc: thanks 4 tke advice going yo try stair pushups today I think instead of sit ups i will do tke one where you raise your legs when laying on your back. I forget what its called.

06-19-2013, 07:53 AM
2FatCars: Thanks for the advice. I think I'll change the crunches to side planks. The knee sit-ups are hard, but not impossible. I like hard!

06-19-2013, 08:11 AM
We are going to be the fittest 40 somethings ....in a few months we'll challenge the 20 somethings to a fitness challenge :D

:welcome3: Rennie

I ate OP except when I came home form DS's baseball game I was ravished and had quite bit of fruit (watermelon) and tomato salad and a gluten free muffin (blush). Late night eating always makes my scale creep up, regardless what I eat, so scale was at 151.4. I seem to be a bit stuck between 150-152; hey I told you that 152's were my nemesis  I just need to take a deep breath and not to fret over it. I am doing everything right and I will have a nice whoosh in the future.

Plan for today

Some hashbrowns
Tomato slices
Broiled eggplant slices
1/4 cup feta cheese

Salad with veggies and 3 oz shredded pork tenderloin

Brown rice

Walk 4.7 mi, swim 45 min and 100 lunges
Rest Day; I haven't had a day off in 9 days

06-19-2013, 10:24 AM
Welcome, love2b!! We love newcomers; I'm so glad you are joining us in this challenge!!

My inlaws left this morning, woo hoo! My scale is up, boo hoo... BUT I am still under my 155 "red line" and I am ready to make a dent on my challenge today. I don't have too many obstacles between now and August. A trip to FL to see my parents for a week, but I usually lose there, and I think that's it. I'm ready to rock!

06-19-2013, 11:29 AM
Carma: Do you mean flutter kicks? Where you move right leg up/left down, then left up/right down? Those were reserved for punishment when I was in the Army . . . . *shudders* Bad flashbacks.

Heidi: Glad you got your house back and glad you are under the redline!
My in-laws live in Florida. Hubs wants to go see them in...AUG! Holy hotbox, batman!

Sum Hmmm. I like the idea of challenging some young'uns! Perhaps it would help the (incorrect) perception that your body after 40 is all downhill.

So I'm starting challenge day one with a pulled muscle in my...gluteus...:o
It was tight on Monday during weights but I figured it was just Monday-related. Nope. That sucker seized up and I spent ALL day on the couch yesterday. When hubs came home he asked if I wanted his TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) unit. Duh. Forgot about it - it works miracles. Hooked the zapper up and 30 minutes later I was MUCH better. Not great, but not screaming in agony anymore. I can walk today - going to take dogs for a stroll but no weights. Maybe that early stiffness was my body telling me to take a break! And since I ignored it - it had to REALLY get my attention. Lesson learned.
Scale at 141.0. Hard to believe since I laid on the couch and ate all day.

I have discovered the perfect combination of goodness. S'mores icecream, 1/2 the fat. It was made for me. And only 130 calories for a half cup! Life is Good.

Just realized that with the scale at 141.0 that makes puts me just over the 40 pounds gone mark.
Don't worry, Heidi, body fat is at 18% - half the amount it was at start...that's what really matters to me;):carrot:

06-19-2013, 12:43 PM
Yay, a new challenge!

My goal is to reach 150lbs, which should be more than doable in just under 7 weeks. My physical goal is to work out twice a week between now and then.

I disappeared off here for a little while this past few weeks -- a combination of life getting busy and a horrible hormone-related water retention making me sulky -- and it feels good to be back.

CW -- 156.5
GW -- 150

06-19-2013, 01:41 PM
Happy Wednesday! :D Did you know it's also Beautiful in Your Skin Month?

Good news...biopsy came back normal. PHEW. Glad that is over with! :carrot:

I've been thinking a lot about why I'm having such difficulty with weight loss this time around, even with (relatively) clean eating and regular exercise. The only difference I can come up with is the new meds for "probable" Crohn's disease. I say probable because I'm basically a-symptomatic and I notice no difference on or off the meds. Dr. said I could take them or not, up to me. Having other family members with Crohn's and seeing the consequences of going untreated , I've opted to take them to head off long term damage. But I may reassess that, for a short period of time, to test if it's affecting my weight loss. I've read everything I can, but have found no indication that it's supposed to affect it one way or the other...but that doesn't mean it can't. So...I'm on day 2 of no meds. I'll reassess in a couple of weeks.

Crow: Glad to have you back and that you're feeling better again!

2FatCats: Sorry about your pulled butt...I mean glute. I never cease to be amazed at how our bodies communicate with us. 40 pounds gone?? AWESOME!!! Congrats on that!

newleaf123: Doesn't sound like too much damage was done and I know you'll get right back down. Glad you have your house back!!

Sum38: HA! I love the idea of a 20-something challenge. We should plan ahead for the fall and be in training until then.

love2b150: Welcome to the group. Glad to have you aboard.

Jennifer1966: Quite the challenge you've got going. Rock it, girl!

Carma: Crunch vs. plank...girly vs. stair push-ups. Oh, the decisions. ;) Better than chocolate vs. strawberry ice cream, right? (except for 2FatCats who likes her S'more's ice cream!)

mboo: Good goals!

LindaWW: Family gatherings can be the worst! Sounds like you have a good plan in place.

Zumba: Congrats on the new job! See...:D

06-19-2013, 04:29 PM
I had a humbling walk; my grand plans of doing 100 lunges were shot down :D I managed to do 50  I could have done more, but I would had lost proper form and like 2FC said, that could mean disaster to one's knees. So my challenge will be' work upto 100 lunges 3 x week :D :D I am going to be s-o-r-e.

Zumba :woohoo: on your new gig!! I knew you would get it, you are so classy!!

Moondance Congrats girl! What a relief!!!!

Crow I have disappeared a few times; when I found myself having nothing nice to say (either about myself or even others) I took a break. Glad to have you back. And I will see you at the 150's check in thread once again :)

2FC I think my chiro uses the TENS, if it is the same machine, it is heaven! I hope your bummy feels better soon!

Heidi I am so glad that you stayed below your redline! Having house guests can be so tough on one's waistline.

Carma and Jennifer I can already to hear your sore muscles  -- I am going to be in so much pain after my lunges, as well. -- It feels great to be sore.

06-19-2013, 05:21 PM
Welcome rennie!
Glad to have you back Crow!!

I have weak legs and a bad knee so lunges i don't do
I have started crunches i must not have done enough i don't feel it :-)

That is good news Moondance!!

06-19-2013, 06:01 PM
Mboo-sometimes I don't feel the crunches until a couple days in.

I started doing some push ups, 2 sets of 5 "girly" push ups, I want to start doing the planks, I've read some good things about them.

Sounds like everyone's doing great, off to a good start.

Welcome, Love2b and welcome back Crow!

Newleaf-it's good to get back to your routine isn't it?! You're doing great!

Zumba-congrats on the new job!!

Sum-sounds like you've got things under control, if you an fill up on fruit maybe that kept you from eating more than one muffin, so that's a good thing.

2FC-thanks for the advice, I'll have to try those push ups, so I can do the real ones. Sorry to hear about your glute! Glad you had something to give you relief!

Jennifer- I'll have to check out your challenge, you and Carma have me curious.

Well have to get out for my walk
Best to all :sunny:

06-19-2013, 07:15 PM
Hi ya'll....thanks everybody for the congrats on the new job..I"m excited about it....I'll be practicing all week for my first day.....

To **** with isa gen ix!!!! Enough said on that, more money wasted.....

I am going back to low carb......

Going to walk in a few minutes :))) tomorrow is zumba and then weight lifting...

06-19-2013, 07:51 PM
zumba congratulations on the job!! They saw what we see, and we all believe in you!

06-19-2013, 08:40 PM
Rennie: :welcome:

Crow: Great to see you back!

Zumba: You will ROCK your new gig!

Sum: Lunges are tough! I think 50 is great!

Heidi: You did great with house guests, and I'm sure you'll hit your goal with no distractions!

Mboo: I often don't feel sore till a day or two out.

Moondance: Yay! I'm so happy for you. What a relief!

2FatCats: You really are a fitness rock star! Thanks for all the great advice and inspiration. I like planks better than crunches, so I'm glad to learn they are so much better for me!

A big hello to anyone I missed (can't scroll back on iPad!). DH and I just finished our evening walk and I'm getting myself psyched up to do my fitness challenge. I am still up on scale to 167.2, so I'm hoping to go down soon!

06-20-2013, 12:45 AM
Jennifer: I took a walk also today. It was such a beautiful evening.:smug:

KeliJpa: I used to do planks all the time (hard for me to believe i was ever that strong)..they engage the core muscles big time .....:D

Sum: Classy? who me??? 50 squats is better than no squats....I need to start doing them again also, I got up to 100 and then stopped. :(

Moondance, I know nothing about Crohns disease and won't pretend to..but I thnk you are smart to look at the medication weight gain link.....meds have all kinds of side effects, not all of them listed either!! Of coures being Crohn's free is more important than weight loss but if you can get by without the meds to see if that is the culprit here then good..i look forward to hearing your findings..:chin:

Crow, I get hormone bloat also...some months way worse than others....bleh..glad you are back.:smug:

Newleaf, i laughed wwhen you said woo hoo after your inlaws left..:D

Love2b welcome!!! this is a great group...

06-20-2013, 12:50 AM
Hi all,

I'm nto going to pretend that I ate healthy today, but I did eat low carb..so Im hoping that shows a little bit of a loss on the scale tomorrow. i took a really long walk with a friend this evening....have shin splints so it wasn't the most comfortable walk....but I did it...

PMS is definitley here..i have a huge bloated gut and my boobs are KILLING me....happy when this will be over....

i need some major wooshes between now and fourth of july....

Oh and diversion guy is still texting..not sure what to think of him but right now have enough of my own problems to give a flying hoot about him and his committment issues.......

I am going out on friday, it will be the first time in a long time that i'm goingout but it will be a non threatening atmosphere...and i'll try and make good choices.

06-20-2013, 10:00 AM
hey all...down a few ounces....I know it would have been more if it weren't for this bloat and the salty foods I had last night ....(taco seasoning is a ziilion milligrams of sodium). As soon as I get my next check I'm buying a box of salmon from BJ's....figure if I have fish a couple of nights a week for dinner that will help....

how is everyone today???

06-20-2013, 10:32 AM
Good morning! I am down a couple of ounces too, which is better than the stall I was in. but still not where I was a few days ago! I am definitely starting to feel the squats in my thighs though--last night walking upstairs after doing 100, my thighs felt like wet noodles!! I would like a whoosh!

06-20-2013, 10:43 AM
zumba I make my own sodium-free taco seasoning and keep it in a jar in the cupboard, so maybe you could try that? Fish a couple times a week is good, too!

152.4 this AM. Yay!

06-20-2013, 11:13 AM
I did 10 push-ups and one plank for about 20 seconds this morning, I felt the engagement...lol...definitely looking forward to getting better at both.

Zumba-we've been eating fish a few times a week now, we get frozen cod loins at Sam's, I read an article recently where they're saying there may be some link between red meat consumption and diabetes.

More later...best to all :sunny:

06-20-2013, 11:33 AM
mboo, Thanks for the Welcome :)

Keli, thanks for the Welcome :) and any tips you have for diabetics please do share :)

Carma, thanks for the welcome and I have never even thought of raising my legs while on my back, if it will help get rid of this major pouch I have I will surely give it a shot :)

2FC :congrat: on the 40lbs GONE :) thanks for the welcome :)

Sum thanks for the welcome :) I have a question what does egg plant taste like?

Jennifer, Zumba and Heidi thanks for the welcome, I hope I haven't missed anyone, you all are busy :)

yesterday I weighed in a 197.2 today I weighed in at 196.8 down 1.6. Not sure what that is all about since for dinner I had 2 doughnuts and tea but I'll take it. I didn't get any exercise in which will be the norm for Wednesday's but I will this evening for sure.

Have a great day Everyone :)

06-20-2013, 12:03 PM
My class was cancelled (grrrrrrrrrrr) so I'll be getting my workout tonight at the gym , i'm ready to start lifting weights,,,trying to figure out a schedule. I will be teaching class five days a week now so any workout of MINE has be done either early in the morning or in the evening......

Right now im kind of locked in as far as working full time or going back to school so this summer im just "doing me".....:smug: Part of that is opening up my chakras and finally losing this weight.

06-20-2013, 03:08 PM
Happy Thursday! :D It's also Recess At Work Day! :dancer:

Yesterday was a complete spurge/indulge day. Celebrated a co-worker leaving with bagels and cream cheese. Had a luncheon to distribute company awards, then happy hour as a "thank you for all you do". I really tried to make good choices, but I know I went way over on calories. Plus no workout. Oh well. It's only one day and I'm back on plan today.

Don't know if I'll work out today. We have new fires burning and the smoke at work and at home is thick! There are health warnings out, advising to stay indoors. Sitting here at my desk, I smell smoke. Not a good thing.

I've been trying for 3 hours to get to personals and I just can't. One of my job responsibilities is Crisis Management and with all the smoke, people are freaking. I'll try again tomorrow.

06-20-2013, 03:26 PM
Figured you guys were all sick of looking at my rump! New photo is from the wedding we went to last Saturday. The shoulder in the background that I am leaning away from so I don't get jabbed is my just-turned-14-year-old son. He's over 6' -- ack!

At the wedding, people seemed to really notice that I had lost weight since I was wearing a simply-shaped dress with no place to hide. It was funny, because I have seen these people quite frequently over the last year but they have never commented. My MIL said, "You have lost A LOT OF WEIGHT!! How much did you lose?????" To which I said "A lot! -laugh- thank you for the compliment!" LOL My in-laws don't need to know how much weight I lost...

06-20-2013, 05:56 PM
Moondance- sorry you guys are going through that out there. I'm always sad to hear about wildfires. Take care of yourself, stay safe!

Newleaf- funny how something triggers people to notice! It's a good feeling.

We had a walk today at work, them chicken BBQ lunch. Ate too many potatoes...well that was my big meal for the day. Might still take the little dog out for a walk, we're going to camp tomorrow night, so have to make sure we have all the tent parts on one place...lol

06-20-2013, 07:14 PM
I am so freaking S-O-R-E!!!!!! I can not imagine doing these lunges all over again tomorrow :D -- Inner goddess in me is so happy, closer to babehood with each lunge!

06-20-2013, 07:34 PM
Hello, all! Nice to see a new thread. My goal for this challenge is to not gain any more weight. Also, to get some walking and biking in at least 4 times a week. I joined a weight management program through my insurance company. They are sending me resistance bands, a pedometer, telephone coaching every 2 weeks, and someone calling me for referrals to therapists who deal with emotional eating. We shall see how it goes. I called in to a few overeaters anonymous meetings this week too. Somewhat helpful, but still not really my style - I tried their approach about 1 1/2 years ago. Things are still hectic at my house with kids home. Trying to keep up with logging calories in MFP.

Stay motivated, everyone! You are all doing terrific!

06-20-2013, 10:04 PM
Sum: I am super sore too! Especially my thighs! I have worked the last two days on a committee to interview candidates for a new principal at our school, and my thighs burned walking around the building today! I did finish my 100 squats for today though. I still have to walk and do planks and push ups. My inner goddess appreciates the pain also;)

Guacamole: that's pretty cool your insurance offers that service! Good luck with it!

Heidi: Love the new picture! Beautiful dress.

Moondance: I'm so sorry it's still burning there. I hope you stay safe.

Hope everyone has a great evening!

06-20-2013, 11:20 PM
Walked again tonight...this is definitely becoming a habit:).

I'm going to do some lunges with kettlebell now....

Ate low carb all day until I caved and had actinympiece of bread just now....

Just saw a new diet trend...butter in coffee...what next?

06-21-2013, 01:18 AM
Zumba: Congrats on the Job. Somehow I missed the actually posting. You must be so happy.
Sum and Jenn: So haven't started my strength exercise so go both of you for getting it in. :carrot:
2 fat cats: I was actually referring to just holding the legs up in place. Although your right those flutter kicks did bring back awful boot-camp memories, however if I could get to be the same size I was in boot-camp........Sorry to hear that you have injured your tush. Who makes the s'mores ice cream?
Heidi: Glad to hear that life is getting back to normal for you. It's always nice having guests but nicer when they are gone.
Crow: Welcome back to the challenge
Moondance: So glad the biopsy is negative. Stay safe in those fires.
mboo: Good for you starting crunches.
Kelipa: Join the exercise challenge. Although I confess I haven't started it yet.
Rennie: congrats on the weight loss.
Guac: Welcome back to the new challenge.

So for me we are in memorial planning mode. I didn't get a walk in, have to do it first thing. Meet with the lawyer tomorrow to answer probate questions. Ate calories within range but no exercise. I was up a lb on the scale but think the stress of my mom passing made me get my tom a week early. Ugh. Think I am going to start strength training next week as I will be back to work and the memorial will be all done.
Have a great Friday.

06-21-2013, 09:21 AM
Morning :sunny:

Scale and I are not friends this morning; I am so sore (legs) and I feel my PMS bloat everywhere. But I did over eat as well. So today I am following my eating plan quite strictly and watching my calories. I think I will have mostly a veggie and a fruit day. My dinner will have the "meat".

It is also "100 lunge" day, we shall see if I get past 1 :lol3: Those suckers are doing my body good!

Hubby and I have been doing, slow, evening walks together. Usually around 3 miles. I have been getting mega steps per day because it is an addition to my daily power walk session. We have a cute downtown and this new house is in a walking distance to it, so last night we walked there to watch our son umpire a game. Later on we will walk there to have dinners out (once I get out of the 150's). -- We are working really hard to try to make things work out, I am cautiously optimistic. -- I started IC (therapy) just to have someone to talk to about this. Friends can be burdened only so much, and at the end of the day, it is not their problem anyways and I would be asking awfully much of them to listen my sadness day in and day out. So therapy works. Maybe later on we can try MC.

Sad rant over :)

Plan for the day
Sliced tomatoes
Broiled Eggplant
Feta Cheese
Salad with veggies, no meat and no cheese, vinegar dressing.
Rice pilaf

Hi all..rushing to aqua class....just want to say hello. I'm down a lb finally. Legs are a little sore from my walking.....this weekend is going to be all about working out and getting a diet underway.

Sum I love your list of food....

Tty later....once again this site is making my laptop act up..too many pop ups!!!

06-21-2013, 10:19 AM
The scale is not my friend this morning either *pout*. It seems like I just get stuck around a number for three weeks of every month. This month it's 166-167. It's incredibly frustrating, but I keep telling myself that I've lost almost 40 pounds since January. It was slow going on, so it will be slow coming off. Today is a rest day for my squats, push ups and planks challenge, which may be good for my sore thighs. I'm going to walk and maybe, just maybe, finally get out my kettlebells! I have to go with DD for her wisdom teeth removal consult, so I'll try to catch up on personals later!

06-21-2013, 10:33 AM
Quick note to lungers/ squatters and the Scale:

Remember those are big muscles you are engaging and they are going to hold on to water to heal. I go up .6 lb after workout day without fail. It's a good thing!

I love sum's food postings. I thought I'd post mine (after the fact; I don't plan in advance like that); maybe it will help me with accountability. Will come back and do personals later.

Homemade cappuccino
Whole grain hot cereal
Banana mixed in
Tiny nibble of homemade anise pizzelle

Garden salad, no dressing
HM hummus & tabouleh
Roasted, carmelized brussels sprouts
2 plums

Plain Greek yogurt with strawberries mixed in
Small handful of nuts
3 lettuce leave with tabouleh in them

2 vodka martinis
4 green olives stuffed with blue cheese
Pan seared scallops
3 bites of baked potato
Slice of birthday cake
Decaf coffee with 2 creamers

2FatCats: Thanks, I needed that. I'm hoping the scale is up from my increased exercise. I have walked 3.5-4 miles everyday and done 100 squats, 30 second planks, and 10-15 push-ups every day for last 3 days. Do you think that's enough to make scale go up? Also, any idea why squats only hurt my thighs? I was hoping they'd do a little more for my flat bum! Thanks! It's great having a fitness guru on here!

I am going to jump on the posting my food bandwagon.

Calories today = 1470. Home alone all weekend; DH is out of town with old high school buds. I feel like I ate a lot today, and yet it seems to add up to a reasonable number of cals. Mom and everyone else always insisted breakfast is important. But my natural inclination is just to not eat till lunch. Sorry Mom. It was hard to roast just one piece of chicken, hard to find the motivation, but it worked out deliciously and I feel so satisfied, unlike if I had gotten fast food.

Bfast: 3 TBsp H&H with 3 cups coffee
Lunch: Healthy Choice Rigatoni plus my own Asiago
Snack: Granola bar and peanut butter
Dinner: 1 chicken thigh, roasted w lime juice and sea salt, 1 serving creamed corn.

06-21-2013, 11:44 PM
Jennifer: thighs as in quads, right? Make sure you far enough down. Go until your quads are parallel with the ground or a little below (even better). Make sure when you come up that you use your bum, not just raise your whole body up as a unit. Exaggerate the movement when going down - first poke your bum out then lower your upper body. Same coming up - make sure that the bum moves first, then the upper body goes up. Then clench your bum at the top. At first it will feel almost broken up, kinda like two movements stuck together. Bum out, lower body/ bum up, raise body feels awkward but it'll get smoother. I find myself 'squatting' whenever I drop something. It just becomes a natural motion. Think about how babies squat down and then just kinda hang out there, then poke their bums out and stand back up. Heck, pretend you have a diaper dragging your bum down if it helps!
Also - you can add weight to the squats. It doesn't have to be a bar across your shoulders - even holding something in front of you would work. Google goblet squats then use something heavy.:D

Time for bed - hope all are well!

Wow, I started writing personals to everybody and computer went nutty on me...I really think there's something about this siteand all the pop ups that i get that are making it hard, it isn't my settings..grrrrrr...anyone have any suggestions, i don't want to stop posting here :?:

I have lost two lbs since starting this challenge, and this is durig PMS bloat, so I am a happy camper so far. I have decided to try and combine a little of everything that I have done in the past that as worked ...IF, IE and low carb....I also am punching up exercise. Now that it is warmer here I have taken my thighs out of hiding and they truly are hideous !! Im embarasse given that i am an instructor that I should look this way......awful. To top it off the cellulite has gotten out of control. What good is being a skinny girl if you're going to look like a pretzel dipped in cottage cheese? :(:(

2FAT..great description of squats , would you consider becoming a personal trainer? I think you should.

JUNEM: What is H and H?

JENNIFER It is true our muscles hold on to water when we start working out hardcore..it takes a while for that to level out....

SUM; I bought the box of sockeye salmon....now to actually eat it..LOL I go to therapy and it is very different than talking to your friends. it is important to have the right therapist. My life has been **** the past three years and the therapy has helped a lot. Do it for you, noone else.

CARMA I didn't read about your mom passing, I"m so sorry. thanks for congratulating me on the job , its only one hour a week but I have been wanting to get my foot in the door there for a few years now.

KELIJ I consume way too much red meat....im' more scared of it causing colon cancer than anything else....not sure what makes fish so healthy given that all our waters are polluted but it has to be a better choice than meat.

MOONDANCE what is it about work gatherings that always include bagels and cream cheese? LOL....I swear, I think back and I think I consumed more bagels the years I worked in an office than any other time of my life. they sure are good though....and a better choice than donuts.

06-22-2013, 10:17 AM
Well I'm down two lbs since we started this challenge...woot...I decided to just go back to low carb and i'm also incorporating some IE and IF into the mix. All things that have worked for me in the past. Im still annoyed that isa gen ix was a complete waste of my time and a lot of money...

Now that the warmer weather is here I have taken my thighs out of hiding...completely hideious...Its embarassing given that i'm an instructor. all those hours of workout a week mean nothing . My thighs have always been my problem spot since as long as I coud remember....and now the cellulite has grown to epical proportions. I'll be wearing maxi dresses all summer and I probably won't be seen in public in a bathing suit. I decded when my divorce is over to get lipo on my saddlebags once and for all, something I probably should have done years ago....but until that can happen im going to work my thighs like crazy to try and get them less flabby....gross gross gross......I loathe myself.

thinking about going to a yoga class today.

06-22-2013, 06:22 PM
Carma I hope you are doing alright... have you started your 5-minute meditations yet? How's that going?

Zumba Are you using any sort of adblock software or add-in? I don't get any popups with the site. Sorry that they are messing with you! The way I write personals is in a separate "Notepad" window. Then I just jump back and forth between notepad and my browser, until I'm done. Then I paste the notepad text into the post reply box, and voila! Even if the website gets flaky, I still have my original text in Notepad. Congrats on losing a couple of pounds!!

Moondance How are the pushups coming? I can do about 5; maybe I should try to build up, too. I am so happy to hear about your biopsy; what a relief! Having a "probable Chron's" diagnosis sounds frustrating. How is the no-meds experiment coming? Sorry to read about all the stress with the fires...

Sum How fun that your DS is umping. How old is he, and what age-group does he ump? I know that my 12-year-old would like to ump when he gets old enough. When you have broiled eggplant slices with breakfast, are they leftovers, or do you have ambition to turn on the broiler that early in the AM? Turning on the microwave is about as good as I get. Well, that and my espresso machine. I'm glad to see that you are cautiously optimistic about your relationship with DH; I hope that all works out for you.

mboo

LindaWW How are you doing with your family gatherings?

2fatCats What are chin-ups with bands? I also am working on chin-ups, using the weight-offset machines. Right now I'm at a 70 pound offset, having started with a 100 pound offset, so I'm getting there. It's a long way to no offset, though! I've been to FL in August before; HOT! We go amost every summer to visit my parents, but seem to have settled on early July as our preferred time. Lots of thunderstorms and still quite hot. How is your glute? So awesome about your BF%!! I saw your note on the last challenge, that I can probably eat more calories than I think in maintenance. I'm not sure. I'm not terribly high-energy and menopause does really change things. The calcs put my maintenance level around 1600 :(

JuneM

kelijpa Like you, I have disappeared, and I always do better when I'm here. How are your pushups coming? Awesome that you got 10 under your belt the other day!

love2b150 How are you doing with eating OP and getting your exercise? What kind of eating plan are you following? I don't really follow one, other than the mantra of healthy foods & portion control.

crow

jennifer It's so nice that you and DH do all those walks together. My DH and I do some evenings, too. I really enjoy the time to reconnect. I am SURE what you are experiencing is water weight, with all your soreness; you are doing great!

guac I think your goal is a good one. Then you can build on that success.

Many of you talk about liking that feeling of being sore... honestly, I can't stand it. For me, it's a sign that I'm overdoing it; I'm just not gung-ho when it comes to exercise. Call me a tortoise, slow & steady.

Well, I hit my redline this morning, 155.1! I think it was a lot of water retention after the restaurant meal last night. I decided NOT to have a salad for a change, so I'm sure there was some salt bloat, and the 2 martinis didn't help either. I felt really dehydrated this AM and am hoping tomorrow's weigh-in shows a reversal. Had crap for lunch today, so the plan is a very light dinner. Ugh -- need to get on track here.

100% whole grain hot cereal
banana mashed into it
a couple of fresh strawberries
HM cappuccino

grilled chicken breast
french fries
small ice cream in a dish

nibble of HM pizzelle
15-cal popsicle

Small handful of nuts
Large garden salad, no dressing
HM roasted Brussels sprouts
Plain Greek yogurt with strawberries mixed in

06-22-2013, 06:30 PM

Oh, and just one last note -- we went out to dinner last night with my ILs who were still in town, so a bought this cute dress at Target and wore it. It's hard to tell in the pic, but it's got a mesh scoop front and then a racer back (bonus from my reconstruction, I don't need a bra).

Size M Juniors. :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:

Since I can't upload photos (thank you, net nanny -- maybe I need to work on that) I'll change my avatar so you can see.

06-22-2013, 07:08 PM
That is a very pretty dress, Heidi!! And WOOT on M!!! -- About the eggplat; I broil it every morning, it is done within minutes, so whilst my tea water is boiling I cook the eggplant.

06-22-2013, 08:38 PM
I would like to join in. My challenge is to remain walking and jogging a minimum of 5 miles a day and doing at least 15,000 steps. Remain eating healthier and watching my calories I take in and burn. I hope to comfortably fit into a size down in shorts/pants.

06-22-2013, 09:41 PM
Google goblet squats...that's hard to read let alone say...lol

TOM showed up with a vengeance, glad that's over...I could actually feel the difference with retaining water, felt so bloated, but much better now.

Did some work in the garden, good weekend overall, took the little flippy dog over to the rail trail, he did pretty good, but maybe cause it was so darn hot, he only growled a little at a lady who jogged up behind us, didn't chase anybody or any other dogs, we went a mile, so I'm feeling good about maybe being able to take him with me once in awhile.

Have to get my motivation back to hit it hard to lose, you'd think with all this exercise talk that would do it, I am doing some of the push ups, planks, but can't get as strict as I was on the diet. So, I'm maintaining, which is good, but this is not where I want to be, thinking of going meatl/dairy-less for a few days and see if that works to get percolating again.

One more retirement luncheon, then I think we're done for awhile...thank goodness!

best to all :sunny:

Hello my Friends!

I finally hit 150 lbs. So I have a "moral" dilemma. I was 150.8 when splurge day challenge ended, not 150 which was my goal....should I get the lashes? Was I "close" enough? Or did I fail the challenge and don't deserve my treat? What do you think? Should I wait until this challenge is over and see if I meet my goal? -- I really don't know. Part of me wants to celebrate my 150 pound mark, but I am getting a new charm for my bracelet anyways as a treat....I want the lashes but I somehow feel not deserving of them....hmmm.

I am finally staying OP; those few hefty meals really spiked up the scale, and I did not like it :D. My exercise has been perfect though. I even managed to up my lunges from 50 to 70, yay me. Hoping to up them to 80 on my Monday's session. Soreness left with my second session.

Plan for today
Grilled Eggplant
Tomato/mozzarella/basil salad with EVOO
Lime and cayenne seasoned Chicken breast
Brown Rice
Strawberries and whipping cream for dessert

4.7 mile walk
Weight Lifting 45 min
3 mile slow evening stroll

Weight: 150
Down: 2.4 pounds

kelijpa I was lacking diet luster for a few days as well. I seem to get diet fatigue; but luckily it has only lasted a few moments and I have found my way back to staying OP. I must say this group of ladies keep me going!! Esp now that we have upped the ante even more. -- I hope you'll find your mojo soon!

aspen13 Welcome!! What do you use tracking your steps? I am a fitbit fanatic. :) I took 105000 steps this past week. My goal is to do 13500 (95000/week) minimum each day.

Heidi I like your food postings!

Zumba I wan to get my tummy done. I think I will wait to get down to 125 pounds and then decide. Even at my smallest I had some tummy and after carrying and giving birth to a 10 pound baby my tummy stretched out :( So you and I next to each other in the operating room :) -- Sorry that you are feeling so down.

2FC Thank you for your awesome advice!!!

junem I am not a bfast eater either. I have been eating it lately (very light; tomatoes/eggplant/feta combo) just to see if it makes a difference. Naturally I as well would like to wait till noon. My son is the same way whereas my DD and DH are huge bfast eaters and can not understand how we loathe it :D -- Have you ever read about IF?

mboo Woot on your exercise!

 to Carma, Jennifer, Monndance, Linda, love2b150 and Guac!

06-23-2013, 09:25 AM
I forgot, Heidi: my son is almost 17 (in Sept). This is his 3rd year umping. So he was almost 14 when he started. The way it works here, the first year you get the little kids and each year you get "promoted". He was umping the 10/11 year olds this summer. He loves it, and the pay is great. He makes $25-$40 per game and usually has 2-3 games per week. Nice pocket money for something that he loves.

Back under the red line today, 154.3. Phew!

Nothing on the agenda to derail me today, so it's all me, the choice to have a good or bad food day. I'm choosing good!

100% Whole grain hot cereal
Banana mixed in
HM cappuccino

Garden salad, no dressing
HM hummus & tabouleh
Fresh strawberries

4 oz grilled chicken
grilled zucchini
basil tomato mozzarella salad with a drizzle of olive oil

2 radishes
1 peach
8 oz HM peach/nectarine protein shake

WooHoo on the 150...even though it's 150.8!! I know it will only take a few days and you should see 150. Way to go!!

I just got a fitbit the beginning of June. I LOVE it. At first I thought it was crazy to try for 10,000 steps but I average around 20,000 to 25,000 per day and I normally walk/jog on average 10 to 12 miles a day. I keep telling myself to slow down a bit. Not sure how long I can keep up with this amount of exercise. The fitbit is highly motivating for me. Not sure if you are allowed to link your fitbit page here or not, so I hope this is okay. http://www.fitbit.com/user/26BZ94 Please friend me if you would like.

Aspen, I just sent you a fit bit friend reg. Yes, I am the one with impossible name to pronounce :D

06-23-2013, 11:49 AM
For breakfast I had grapes, 1 slice of toast with peanut butter, 12 oz of water, and 8 oz of skim milk.

It's not even lunch time yet and I have already walked near 4 miles. I discovered I love listening to Bob Marley as I walk.

For lunch I am going to make baked salmon, roasted sweet potatoes, and broccoli. Yum! I have not decided on dinner or afternoon snack yet. I treat myself to an ice cream sundae cup or other treat every day. I like buying the Schwan's single serve ice cream cups and bars. No mistake as to how much calories I took in with my treats.

Just excepted your friend request. :D

hello all...I wrote super long personals to everyone but got side tracked and closed the window by mistake...grrrrrrrrrr....what a waste of time, when I say long I mean LOOONNNGGGGGG....I am too lazy to type it all over again.

Anyhow yesterday I spent most of the day alone and depressed. It wasn't a good day even though it was beautiful outside. I had a few cookies yesterday and I realize how gross processed stuff tastes to me now....didn't stop me from eating them though.....bleh....

today will be different. For one thing, I refuse to lay here depressed in this messy room of mine...so my goal today is to burn some calories y cleaning. I am going to dig out that bike from the shed. I am going to prepare for my new class this week....

06-23-2013, 12:15 PM
Welcome Aspen!!

SUM: the eyelashes are a celebration and a reward, if you don't truly feel that way about them then that goes against the whole point....

NEWLEAF: size medium in juniors???REALLLY>>>>>>> OMGOSH......youre so TINY

(((((( Big Hugs!! )))))) Today is a new day. I am so sorry you had a rough day yesterday.

Welcome Aspen!!

Thank you!

aspen Welcome!! Always love having new chicks join the challenge... sounds like you've got a good plan. The fitbit sounds like a lot of fun. Sometimes I toy with the idea of getting one. I enjoy listening to Bob Marley when I work out, too. Are you familiar with any of Sinead O'Connor's reggae tunes? I love them! She has such a wonderful voice.

kelijpa I'm having a hard time being strict on the diet, too. Having a mental "red line" is helping so at least I'm not gaining. But losing has become very slow. Not because my body isn't cooperating or I'm too close to goal to lose easily, but just because I'm not being all gung ho about it.

sum First, 150.8 IS 150 in my book, so you did meet your goal. But as for the lashes, I guess it depends. Will you feel good about them because you got to 150, or lousy about them because you didn't get to 150 on time? That's the problem with time-based goals... I think you should get them when you know you'll feel great about them, which could be now, could be later. All up to you and your psyche. We both had the same salad today, you with lunch, me with dinner. Love that salad... Yum! On the topic of eggplant. I do love grilled eggplant, but normally I grill up the whole thing. When you do your breakfast ones, do you just cut off a couple of slices and put the eggplant back in the fridge? Will it keep that way? Or are you broiling up the whole thing? Fun re: umping!

zumba Bummer about losing your personals! I'm sorry you battle with the site so much, and am grateful that you still stick with us! How did your room turn out? And no... I'm not tiny. That's not a word anyone IRL would apply to me. The bodice of the dress was snug (as it should be) and the skirt portion was very loose and forgiving. I'm still fighting to get into an old size 10 pair of Levi's. Tiny I'm not. I wish!

I've had a good day, on plan. I even made banana muffins for the boys and DH, and didn't have ANY, or even any batter. I made a note on the recipe once that a muffin was 247 calories or something like that. Um, no. Not today, not for me! Nothing much to report. I'm waiting for this heat to break! Hoping to go kayaking with my DSs tomorrow.

ETA: Full disclosure here. Just had about 1/4 slice of chocolate birthday cake. Ah, well... maybe a slight loss for tomorrow AM, but I'm pretty confident it will at least be a maintain. And that's how it goes around here. See note to kelijpa above.

We're having some much needed rain, it got pretty hot (hot for us anyway) and dry, so happy for my garden to get some rain. I was resisting watering, but was going to tonight, someone else taking care of it...lol

Thanks for the encouraging words, Sum & NewLeaf I think I'd be in real trouble if it wasn't for the inspiration I get from this site, was so bummed when I was having trouble logging on. There's really nothing else like it, is there ?

I did 3 sets of 5 Girly push ups 2 real ones, wow what a difference, then 1 set of 3 planks, 20 secs. Each, I'm hoping someday to look back at how pathetic my upper body strength was and laugh...someday!

Sum, I agree with NewLeaf and Zumba, depends on how you're going to feel about it, I think you totally deserve them , you rocked that challenge, but I always go with my gut, if it doesn't 't feel right...

Welcome Aspen, I love counting my steps, I use a life fitness pedometer and run keeper on my new phone. Seems like a lot of people love the fitbit. Maybe I'll have to try it, can't tell you how long it took me to finally upgrade to a smartphone, now I love it, in fact that's how I'm posting...lol

Best to all :sunny:

I highly recommend a fitbit. I have the Fitbit One. The Fitbit dashboard is so user friendly. I can not talk too highly of it.

I will have to look into Sinead O'Connor's newer albums. I only know her older work. She has a great voice. Any suggestions of albums?

We had a lot of rain down here in FL today. We have a mourning dove nest in one of our palm trees and the poor thing was getting soaked while protecting the nest.

Thank you for the welcome!

I avoided having a cell phone up until about 6 months ago. Then my ex-husband said he would get me one and put me on the family plan (my son already has one). I could not pass up that deal.

06-24-2013, 08:36 AM
Heidi, I have FitBit One as well, and that little sucker is so motivating. I traveled 18889 steps yesterday. Not nearly as many as Aspen tho :D I can't catch up with her, she is a maniac :D :D -- About the eggplant; I just cut up 3 slices each morning until the plant is gone; usually lasts about a week.

Keli That is how I want to feel about my lunges; laugh back :) We can only get better/stronger, right?

Zumba I keep imagining you in those dresses (does that sound freaky:lol:) and thinking you must look amazing in them with your small waist. Did you get your cleaning done? Clean house always makes me feel better. Kinda like having messy house reflects my somber mood. Clean house clears my head too.

I hit my 140's!! I DID IT!!  I also had NSV. My bras have been huge - I bought them in January, size 38E - I went and bought some new ones in 34E and they fit beautifully. I only bought 2 sets for now; bras are so darn expensive and because of my size I have to get them from speciality stores or online. I got two very sexy, lacy ones with matching panties, of course;)

Plan for today

Veggie medley with salmon ( I love fish!)

Pulled pork, slowcooked all night
Baby potatoes
Cantaloupe for dessert

Walk 4.7 miles
"100" lunges
Swim 45-60 min
Maybe an evening walk, if not too hot. We had to skip last night's walk.

Weight 149.6
Down: 0.4 pounds

06-24-2013, 09:17 AM
sum CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I am so happy for you!

aspen the album with reggae is Throw Down Your Arms from 2005. You can probably listen to some of the tracks on line. Some are songs you may already know, others not.

Weight went down, 152.7 this AM. Another good day ahead today, where the only obstacle is me. Trying a new recipe tonight for baked felafel. Looking forward to it!

06-24-2013, 10:49 AM
Sum, You did it ! You did it! You did it ! You are in the 140's, which is something I have been working towards myself. Congratulations!

And as for the sexy bras, I don't want to be nosey about your relationship, but I hope your husband appreciates your new found sexiness. I know new lingerie has never hurt my marriage.

06-24-2013, 12:13 PM
Sum: AWESOMENESS!! So excited for you. I am going to have to go bra shopping soon also. LOL, about me being a maniac. I am so very surprised of how much I have pushed myself. I will need to slow down soon though.

newleaf: WooHoo! Those 140s are definitely in view. You'll have to let us know how the new recipe goes. I will have to go check out the album. I am in the process of making a walking playlist. I put I Like To Move It on and that one really makes you move it.

SUM congratulations..I am so happy for you....:carrot: Youve been working so hard , you deserve the success...I hear you on the bras.I am a 32DDD and have to go to specialty stores....it must be nice that you got new things...and a smaller size, yoiu will be more comfortable now.

NEWLEAF I want that falafel recipe!!!

Well I caved last night and had graham crackers. It was a rough couple of days..reality is setting in about how lonely I am going to be after the divorce....you can have a ton of friends and things to do, but at the end of the day when you don't have your family you truly have nothing. I loved being a wife and mother, I don't want to be anything else. I know in time this too shall pass and I will get used to being alone.....I hate it. Anyhow the graham crackers didn't effect me , I didn't gain from it...so all is well with that. I had my monthly visitor today so I don't feel as hungry. funny how hormones control how ravenous we are. I did a really intense toning class today so I don't feel guilty about not working out again tonight, IK"m too tired and need some TLC. By the way for those that have been following my love saga I have not texted or heard from diversion guy since last Wednesday and I have decided to close that chapter. It makes me sad but it is for the best. I don't care how lonely i am I am NOT contacting him...he can sit and wonder about me for a change..and if I never hear from him again I will have my answer about how much I meant to him.

It is going to be one LOONG SUMMER...

Trying to be positive.....and trying to be and 140 by the end of this weekend..wish me luck everybody...

Good luck, zumba. You are going through a very rough time but it sounds like you've got your head on straight... I'm sure these months will be difficult; we will be here for you! My felafel are in the oven as we speak; they smell sooooo good. It's a Mark Bittman recipe, and I got it online here: http://drsukol.teachmed.com/2013/06/19/your-healthy-plate-baked-falafel-with-tahini-sauce.aspx

I'll let you know how they turn out.

06-24-2013, 07:11 PM
Congrats Sum! That's awesome, can't wait for that day myself, but baby steps...:D You're doing great

Zumba- you will adapt and overcome, you've got lots to work through and you're strong enough to do it!

Things are going good here, had a good day today, feeling strong for tomorrow, plan on doing the same thing, my 3 sets of 5 girl push ups (I was feeling yesterday's push ups today!) 3 20 second planks, juice/fruit/veggie day, getting my water in, and couple of good walks, I'm at 12K steps today.

best to all :sunny:

going to check out NewLeaf's recipe

Hello Everyone

Zumba I just make a new tab. I read in one and type in the other. It has definitely helped with not losing all that I have typed :)

Heidi that dress is so cute :)

Carma so sorry to hear about your Mom

Sum not sure what the situation is with you and your hubby but if you want things to work out I will pray for the best for the two of you. As I do for my husband and I and every other marriage. I wish I could afford to have and unbias person to talk to, I'm sure it would help. :)

Heidi, Thanks for asking about me  I try to follow healthy eating but it rarely happens. I have good days and days that I just don't want to talk about. I have only exercised once and that was last Tuesday. My weight just continually goes back and forth and I know it's all due to lack of control. I have a ton going on in my life and it feels like time is flying by so I don't have time to do much of anything correctly. I am at a loss as to what to do to get my groove back. I'm diabetic so I really need to do it for my health so that I can be here to see my children grow up. :)

Please keep posting your meals those that do. I need all of the help I can get ;)

Oh my goodness, I'm so behind. I kept my page up from yesterday and you all have typed a whole new page, wow :)

(((((( Big Hugs, Zumba! ))))))

My ex-husband left me when I was 3 months pregnant. We lost our first to miscarriage and I had a scare with our son. His way to handle it all was to walk. My son is now 14. There was hard moments (not so many any more) but then my son and I are very, very close and I think it's because it has been us against the world. I think what hurts most is the fact that he ended my dreams. I always wanted 4 to 6 children. I wished/wish my son could have siblings (I run a family daycare, so he has always had *siblings*). I used to feel sorry for my son but he has wonderful male role models in his life and I have decided he actually isn't missing anything, it's my ex, he is missing out on knowing a truly wonderful person. He sees him every once in awhile but never will truly know him. My son is such a wonderful soul.

Remember to take time for yourself, care for yourself. You deserve it.

Aspen :welcome: I'm new also :)

Heidi, what does egg plant taste like?, thanks :)

Keli, took me a long time to get rid of my BB but once I got use to my android it was great :)

Aspen, Sum and Heidi, do you have to have your phone on you at all times to start and stop it or does it activate itself when you start to move? I have the Nike thing in my shoe and I have to start and stop it with my phone while walking and I can't do that at work. or maybe there's another way and I just don't know how to work it yet.

Sum great NSV with the bras and undies :high: Congratulations on the 140's, way to go :)

mboo even if it's slow you are still losing so give yourself a big pat on the back. :) It is surely more that I can say for myself :)

Zumba best of luck to you on reaching 140 :crossed: you can do it :)

Ok I just recorded my weigh at the beginning of June I weighed 194.0. There ar 7 days left for me to get under that to have a loss for June. I weighed in today at 197.0. Can I do it????? Help me ladies please .... How????

06-24-2013, 08:52 PM
Aspen, your story is heart felt. Children are truly a gift. Mine surely work wonders mentally for me when I am going through with my husband. They give me the strength that I need.

06-24-2013, 09:21 PM
So many great ladies on the thread, it's overwhelming to reply to all. Just want to say a quick congratualtions to Sum! Also, a quick hug to Zumba!

Stay strong, ladies!

06-24-2013, 09:52 PM
Ok, first let me say that generally speaking, DH and I love falafel. Sadly, the report back on the recipe is that I liked it, my DH really wanted to like it but didn't, one DS didn't like it at all, and the other couldn't decide if he did, but thought the texture was all wrong.

So I guess I won't be making that again.

06-24-2013, 09:58 PM
Sorry guys busy weekend with family, I feel like I am very behind with personals so I will get to that first.

First Sum: Woo Hoo you rocked that and totally deserve the eyelashes.:bravo: I agree with Heidi, 150.8 is in the 150 number realm. Totally jealous of the smaller bra size. My boobs will still be huge for a while. I was a 38J and have moved down to a 38 H. Not much of a jump. Those bra's are so expensive so I am wearing them big and only going to buy 1 smaller bra and wearing the bigger ones. Sorry to hear about you and your husband having issues. I am sure you will work through it. Focus on the positive. Plus I am sure the sexy bra's and panties can't hurt. ;)
Heidi: That dress is very cute and big props to you for getting into a medium jr's :carrot: I did start my meditations. I didn't however continue them. But did manage to get a 50minute walk in and listened to instrumental music for 15 minutes of it. I think that has to count somewhat.
Aspen: :welcome:. I may have to check out that fitbit. Is it like a mobile pedometer for an Ipod touch or a smart phone?
Zumba: Sorry about the blue mood, hopefully the cleaning helped out. I believe you can be at 140 by the end of the weekend. Your the little train that could. "I think I can, I think I can. :goodluck:
Mboo: Don't give up hang in there.
Rennie: I would post my meals but they are consisting of leftovers for at least a few more days. I heard a site called Emily bites is good, nice portion controlled lower calorie food and she posts the calories or weight watchers points if you use that.
Kellipa: Notice that several of us are cycling together. Mine finished up on Saturday. Weird. Hope you survived your luncheon.
JuneM and Guac:wave:
As for me slight gain, I totally didn't drink enough water yesterday. I didn't record my food intake for 2 days. Haven't gotten into the strength training yet. I did however do my first exercise in 4 days. First day back to work was up at 4:30 and walking by 5. I need to try and weight lift and meditate. Darling son is complaining he can't sleep in his bed so he has taken over the living room to sleep. We are going through a heat-wave. I hate summer. Ugh. Hopefully the rain helps.
I started tracking my food again today and was under calories. Hopefully that means that I will be down on the scale as I did get my water intake in.
Work went pretty well. Made it through the day without crying. Although I came really close. I think I will eat my larger meal tomorrow in the air conditioned cafeteria for lunch. So plan for tomorrow is meditate 7 minutes, walk 1hr in the morning. Eat around 1500calories and only have water to drink with the exception of the morning coffee, I also plan to walk after lunch and dinner. I should be able to weightlift with the classes tomorrow.
Hope your day is good tomorrow. Hugs to you all.

06-25-2013, 08:16 AM
meditation done, 4 glasses of water done already. Walk ran for an hour/4miles done. Oh, and the scale was a beautiful 217. I knew it was lack of water. Have a fabulous day everyone.

06-25-2013, 09:06 AM
Wow, Carma, quite a productive morning!

I think I found a way to lose weight during my sleep! The air conditioner broke yesterday, in the middle of a heat spell!

06-25-2013, 09:33 AM
Where is Jennifer?

I had little bit too much pulled pork to eat, but it was so yummy. TOM is supposed to start today as well, so my cravings are crazy. I am trying really hard not to give in, because I know I will be so happy when post TOM whoosh starts, if I did not pig out during TOM. Darn hormones.

Plan for the day
Pulled pork sandwich
Melon for dessert.

Walk 4.7 miles
Weight Lifting 45 min

Weight 150
Up; 0.4 pounds

06-25-2013, 09:44 AM
Hi all, sorry I've been MIA, but I have been bad, bad, bad. Spent the last 4 days eating and drinking with my DH, my BFF, and her DH. They live in Idaho, so I haven't seen them since last summer. We have had a blast, and I really can't regret it, but I am up 2.5 pounds! I was 169 this morning--eek!! I am totally going to get back on plan and start losing again! I was terrified I'd see 170 again, but luckily I dodged that bullet! I'm glad you are all doing so well! I don't have time for personals because I have to visit my parents, but Sum you totally earned those lashes!! Go for it:)

06-25-2013, 10:22 AM
Love2b I hope you are finding your groove today... Eggplant has a taste like no other. Kind of a weird texture, it cooks up a bit gooey. Either you love it (me!) or hate it (DH!). I can't answer your question about the phone as a pedometer; I don't use one. As for "how" weight-wise, the best thing I can tell you is if you are having difficulty, take it one choice at a time. Even if you messed up your last choice, don't let it derail you, just make your next choice a good one and keep building.

Jennifer nice to see you; glad you had fun with your friends. Those 2 pounds will come right off again - just act quick!

Here, holy NSV -- those old size 10 Levis fit!! I could wear them out in public, no problem. Too bad it's supposed to be 90 degrees. I might just have to anyway LOL

06-25-2013, 10:29 AM
Hi Everyone.

Getting ready for class and to say goodbye to stduents that I have had for years, this gym is closing down. Hopefully they will follow me somewhere else..I really didn't need anything else to feel bad about today, but I guess this is part of life. :( I have nothing to be happy or excited about lately. I miss Diversion guy and I"m pissed that he screwed up our relationship just in time for summer.......i am pissed that my husbnad won't settle because he is so stubborn, and i'm pissed that he went to great lengths to hide money from me that we are now uncovering....and how he is brainwashing my children. I just spend a lot of time angry , and I am eating my feelings to feel better.

I gained a few ounces today, but had a lot of salty food yesterday and probaby not enough water...hoping to lose a few lbs since AF is here.....I still want to be 140 by this Sunday night. the day I see 139 is going to be a huge deal, I wish I could take all of you out for drinks to celebrate!!! LOL
Not sure what I would reward myself with if anything since i don't have much extra money....especiallly since im getting a smoothing system on my hair this week.

I better get dressed and ready to face the music.

Thank you for the welcome, love! A big welcome to you also!

I have the fitbit one, it comes with a clip, I clip it to my short's pocket and carry on my day. The fitbit resets itself at midnight each night. I have been needing to recharge it around every 6/7 days. The fitbit one comes with a wrist strap to put the fitbit in at night to monitor your sleep. I enjoy this feature also. The fitbit dashboard is extremely user friendly and I feel has been the best for helping me with weight loss.

You might not be able to meet your mini goal but anything you can do will be a benefit for you. I was hoping I would lose 10 pounds by July 4th (a month owning the fitbit) and I most likely will not (I'm at 154.4, 151 would be 10 lbs). I decided to step back and realize what I have accomplished. I want to do this healthily. I have a hard time with patients quite often.

Good for you for getting up and exercising...and with the heat!! I know, at least for me, just how hard it is to motivate yourself to get back into the game.

Sounds like you have a great day planned for today.

Try to stay cool!

06-25-2013, 01:36 PM

Oh, no! Hopefully it will not cost an arm and a leg to fix.

06-25-2013, 01:48 PM
Great day so far! I have gotten in just under 4 miles so far.

I tried hummus for the first time today. Had one slice of toast and 8 baby carrots with it (2 tablespoons of hummus). I thought it was really good. I ate about an hour ago and still feel very full.

I am going to go walk some more and my son is asking me to shoot some hoops with him and his friend.

Have a fabulous day/night, everyone!

06-25-2013, 02:21 PM
NewLeaf - disappointing to hear about the recipe, it sure sounded good. I love chickpeas but don't think I've ever had falafel...dare I try the real thing...

Did good OP yesterday and so far today, happy to report I did my 3 sets of 5 girl-push-ups and 3 20 second planks, already made a little progress, I could do the full 20 seconds on the second one, yesterday I had to do 2 10s, and I actually could feel a little teeny bit of strength in my core instead of shaking and feeling like a jelly fish  baby steps.

Love2b- I'll look for some recipes for you, my FIL is diabetic, my MIL makes sure he eats pretty well, she makes him sugar free pudding and she makes him some cookies with Splenda, for a treat.

Best to all :sunny:

06-25-2013, 03:23 PM
Ugh. Going back to work tomorrow which will drastically cut into my walking time! Not good with 10 pounds to go.
Had some bad stress eating over some mom-issues and Stanley Cup Finals! :(
Mini goal of 135 by Fourth of July and hopefully goal weight by Challenge Day.
Fridays off, so will try to walk twice on Fridays and on weekends and maybe a
late day walk on work days.
We have an awesome rowing machine, treadmill and a recumbent bike so will someone please tell me to get the heck on those!!! :tantrum:
It just seems a shame not to be outside during our few summer months.

Good Luck to All during these hot months!

06-25-2013, 03:47 PM
KG123, get on the gym equipment!! ;) We have a treadmill and I do use it some but I prefer walking and jogging in-place or outside. It's too humid (live in central FL) to be outside for the most part now. Looking forward to Autumn.

Throwing in work is going to give you a challenge. The good thing is that you have had some time on working on your fitness and healthier lifestyle. Starting a new pattern/schedule is always difficult...or at least for me. Wishing you the best!

06-25-2013, 03:52 PM
I went MIA for a few days, too. I missed like 4 pages of this challenge!

to the fitbitters: I don't have one but I love my polar heart rate monitor!

Sum: Congrats on the 140's!

Heidi: Re: losing weight while you sleep. biggest downfall to having this old Victorian house - No central air. That means my gym (in the attic) is HADES hot. Positive note: no retaining water here!

Rennie My mom was a diabetic - so much has changed now since when she was first diagnosed (preggo with me). You watch carbs, not just sugar, right? Do you have type I or II? I don't have many low carb type recipes but low sodium - got those (high bp)!

Kelijpa Keep up the pushups and planks! I have tons of variations when you master those - and you will!!

Carma Just keep taking it one day at a time. Great, now the theme song is stuck in my head. :p

Jennifer Glad you have no regrets and were able to enjoy the food and visit. Whenever I eat something less than perfect - I try to own it and accept the consequences beforehand. It alleviates the post-eating guilt for me.

Zumba I mentioned the trainer thing to my hubs and he said he agreed. Actually, I have thought about it. But I really think I would prefer counseling. Everyone can tell you they need to 'eat healthy and exercise more'. It's figuring out the why of the eating/exercising/binging/regain, etc that fascinates me. Hmm. Grad school after 40? Hmmm.

Welcome to new folks, and keep moving forward to everyone!

06-25-2013, 04:10 PM
Happy Tuesday! :D

Wow, miss a few days and so much happens! I'm trying to squeeze in a reply in the middle of my busy day. This window has already been open for 4 hours and this is all I've been able to type.

Summary: Weekend was an incredible indulgent mess. I tried to start fresh yesterday but had to go to Japanese Hibatchi for a celebration. I ate it all, which will of course cause bloat for 4 days. Started again today and so far, so good. I have really high hopes that not taking these meds will kick-start my loss too. Time will tell...

Sum: Congrats on that 140's mark. I know you've been reaching for it with all your might! Get the lashes. My scale doesn't have a decimal, so 150 would be 150. Treat yourself!

Zumba:  I'm so sorry you're going through such a rough patch. One day, one choice at a time.

Newleaf: Hope you get that A/C fixed soon!

JuneM: Hi, hope you're doing well too!

Guac: Hey...stop in more often! It's always nice to see you.

mboo: Slow is ok sometimes. When was the last time you stopped, wrote EVERYTHING down...food, exercise, beverages, even medications, to examine what hidden thing might be holding you back?

Carma: What did I miss? Why are you trying not to cry at work? I'm sorry you're having struggles!

love2b150: Of COURSE you can do it! I have confidence in you!

kelijpa: I'm with you on that weak upper body thing. I'm doing push-ups and planks too. Hard work, but I can't wait to reach goal and look back at the accomplishment!

aspen13: Hi! Welcome to the group!

jennifer: I hope you're not dwelling on your bad-badness! Any damage will be short-lived as I know you'll get right back on track.

Phew, I think I made it. Have a great, on-plan day everyone!! :D

06-25-2013, 04:17 PM
After my glute healed - the underlying issue became evident: my SI joint was inflamed/flaring up - again. Dang ankylosing spondylitis. Overuse - I knew better....
So I missed 2 workouts last week and a lot of house cleaning/chores just to make sure that it was truly rested/healed.

I am having a hard time starting my 'goal story'. I think I just don't feel like I'm at goal. Not the scale weight - I am dandy w/ 140. There is still some tightening and firming up going on, though. And I still have a hard time buying clothes in a S top and size 6 bottoms. I wore baggy clothes trying to hide my chub for so long that it's a hard habit to break. Last week I was in a rush so I didn't try on a pair of shorts- got them home and they didn't fit. Too big. I had to return a size 6. Absolutely surreal.

And if you ladies think your bras are expensive - at least you are getting some fabric...a 32 A/B is $$ and it's basically two band-aids and a string. Why is it that I am the tallest one here and yet the smallest chested? Story of my life. I have the height - I could totally rock a large chest. Instead, my mom was right, turn me sideways and when I stick out my tongue I look like a zipper. *sigh*

On a different note, apparently you CAN eat too much s'mores ice cream.:o I actually had a sick tummy from eating too much. Positive: I no longer want to eat ice cream. :D

And finally, I either need to eat more or move less. I thought I had settled but lost another pound last week and *thought* I was eating like a horse. I don't plan on moving less so I guess I need to eat more. *gulp*
Goal is 2400 calories every day this week.

Challenge Progress: Weight at 140.2, bf ~18%
Saturday: 3.5 mi dog walk, burned 400 kCal. Consumed: 1700 kCal
Sunday: Moving furniture (switched all furniture in one room with another), 1016 kCal. Consumed: 2100 kCal
Monday: Weight lifting, mowed lawn, 3.5 mi dog walk, 1200 kCal. Consumed: 2300 kCal
Tues: 3.5 mi dog walk @ 445 kCal (so far-raining now)

06-25-2013, 09:30 PM
Thank you for the welcome!

Good for you for getting up and exercising...and with the heat!! I know, at least for me, just how hard it is to motivate yourself to get back into the game.

Sounds like you have a great day planned for today.

Try to stay cool!

I walked when it was a cool 61 degrees out. Walk was completed by 6am. Hopefully I can be up earlier tomorrow as I need to be at work for 7am instead of my usual 7:30.
Luckily I work in an air conditioned exercise lab. We haven't caved and put in the window ac's yet at our house.
I went for a walk at lunch for 20 minutes and walked after dinner for 20 minutes. Still haven't decided if I will have a piece of cake after supper. Meeting my sisters and their families for dinner tomorrow night at an Indian restaurant. My plan should allow me a 1000 calories for dinner. Not going to sweat getting the correct amount of vitamins in or protein.
Heidi: Bummer about the a.c. But :carrot: about the jeans. What is in a pumpkin protein shake?
Zumba: .
Sum and Aspen: So I totally got the app for my smart phone for fit bit, only to discover it doesn't measure pedometer at all. Priced that fit bit cheapest I could find it was 79 used. Maybe that will be my reward for this challenge. I want to see what I am getting in for steps so maybe in the mean time I will get a cheap pedometer. Also great job on the exercise.
Jenn welcome back, I am sure the time with your friends was totally worth the few pound gain and like you said you were shocked not to hit above 170. :bravo:
Kelipa: You go with the push ups and plank. I should do some before bed. Will report back in the morning.
KG: :drill:Get on those exercise equipment soldier. Seriously jealous of all that equipment. You just need to make sure your watching tv while doing it. If you carve out a time for exercise and stick to it it will be easy to get into it. I like exercising in the morning then anything else I get in the remainder of the day is bonus :)
2fat cats: Now that song is in my head too. Ugh.:dizzy: Lol on the s'mores ice cream. I'm thinking how awesome it is that you are not giving up on your moving more since your at your goal
Moondance: My Mom passed away Saturday 6/15. I am actually glad to be back in the regular routine. Today was easier at work. :) Good luck on getting the salt bloat off. I find if I flush it out of my system it's usually gone. I think salt affects some people more though.

06-25-2013, 10:42 PM
Carma the pumpkin protein shake was canned pumpkin, unsweetened soy milk, water, ice, vanilla whey protein powder, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg all mixed up in the blender.

06-25-2013, 11:28 PM
guacamole

Heidi, I have to look up falafel, my computer is acting stupid so I can't even find out what it is :dizzy: and at least you liked it, maybe try again with another recipe :) ... sorry about your a/c hope you get it fixed soon. Thanks Heidi I did find my groove today and so far so good since I am still up :crossed: on the eggplant I don't know if I can do gooey. I'm weird in that way with food, so thanks for letting me know before I buy it :) I think I may invest in the fitbit one if I can actually stick to this for longer than 3 days this time :) and thanks for the advise ---> As for "how" weight-wise, the best thing I can tell you is if you are having difficulty, take it one choice at a time. Even if you messed up your last choice, don't let it derail you, just make your next choice a good one and keep building. Great NSV :high: and on the jeans also :high:

Carma good for you on that 50 minute walk. I use to do that :( And thanks for the site info. I will definitely check it out :) Woe Carma you had a busy day yesterday but good for you getting it all done, wow :) I love pumpkin protein shakes  so good :)

Sum

Jennifer spending time with old friends and having a good time is priceless, glad you enjoyed yourself :) I can't wait to go back home to see my friends but I don't foresee that happening anytime soon ... and you'll flush that 2.5lbs out in not time :)

Zumba I'm so sorry you are having to go through all of this, I truly hope things start to look up for you

Thanks Aspen :) and thanks for the info on the fitbit one. Thanks this is a good reminder ---> You might not be able to meet your mini goal but anything you can do will be a benefit for you. I love hummus, the red pepper flavor is my favorite.

Keli great job with the exercise :high: baby steps are much better than my no steps :) thanks on the recipes I appreciate it :)

KG I'd tell you to get on them but I have a treadmill that I don't use because I can't figure out where to put it, but I do have it. And if it were set up would I for certain get on it  idk ... you do have a good walking plan set up though so that is a great start while working :)

2FC I'm type II. And yes when I actually pay attention I do try to watch the carbs. I need to take a class on how to do the net carb thing. I had gestational diabetes with my last four and the last two I was on insulin. But after I had the last one I was borderline and told to just watch it. I was diagnosed in 2012 and put on Metformin but now I don't have insurance again. 2FC Way to GO :cheer: :congrat: on making goal :)

Moondance it's amazing what sodium does and how long it stays :dizzy: and thank you for the vote of confidence I appreciate it :) again sorry to hear about you Mom

Ok now me ... I woke up today to 195.6 down 1.4 from yesterday. I have a fruit day today I know it's not good but I have to start somewhere and I actually did it without cheating for the most part.

1.5 cup coffee w/sf caramel machioto
vanilla yogurt
peach yogurt
apple slices

apple slices

grapefruit (didn't finish from lunch)

juiced some lemons
pu'erh tea before bed

Hello Everyone....I had a good day after all. Said goodbye to my students only to cut a deal with the gym up the road where I"ll be teaching a class at the same time/day..that worked out nicely although I was sort of looking forward to having a morning off...oh well......I could use the money right now so i guess i shouldn't complain!! ;)

Then I went to Trader Joes and I stocked up on healthy foods (and some not so healthy things for the kids ) and I feel ready to tackle the rest of this week to get to goal. I hope that i can do it.

Tomorrow is my first day at my new job, hope it works out well, I don't know what to expect, then I have my hair appt..I'm excited...I have to make sure to pack some snacks because the process is LONNNNGGGGG and I don't want to be tempted by the goodies they have over at the salon....

Oh and to make this day even more exciting I got a text from diversion guy..interesting how when you ignore a dude they contact YOU instead. I haven't written back yet, still deciding what to say and how to sound...being aloof for once in my life. He said he wanted space and I am giving it to him three fold. maybe Im the one that needs the space now.

Im really impressed with how everyone here eats. Love , whats with all the fruit? Are you doing some kind of fruit diet? Cause as a low carber that looks absolutely delish...

Carma the pumpkin protein shake was canned pumpkin, unsweetened soy milk, water, ice, vanilla whey protein powder, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg all mixed up in the blender.

sounds super yummy. Will have to pick up the stuff for it and give it a try.

Almost 8 minutes of meditation done and walked 3 miles/60 minutes.

Love2be: Congrats on the loss.
Zumba: Awesome on the new job and glad that you day turned into a positive one. About diversion guy it's funny how if you ignore a man they will come crawling back. Good for you on not texting back. Enjoy the salon day and snack healthy. :D

Good Morning ALL

Today's plan is

baked potato with ICBINB spray

and I will try to eat my yogurt peach and vanilla
1.5 coffee w/ sf caramel machiato already made

yellow squash and zucchini
cucumbers with vinegar and a little Caesar & 1000 island mix

green purple mix salad (type of dressing is in question)
yellow squash and zucchini

and water water water

Have a great day Everyone

06-26-2013, 08:36 AM
Zumba Congratulations on the job that's great :) and on the fruit - no it's a cabbage soup diet that my friend gave me. I'll have to tweak it because I'm not big on beef but I need to jump start myself some kind of way so though it's not good for me I tried it anyway and it did good because I did good :) It was good but by evening I was pretty much sick of fruit and really wanting anything else ;)

Carma thank you :)

06-26-2013, 08:37 AM

We are busy!! I love it. Sorry if I don't always do full personals (I am bad at that), but I enjoy reading about everybody's progress.

I ate OP and exercised a lot yesterday; 2 walks (one slow) and lifted weights (still loathe them, but not as much as lunges :D)

I am hoping to get all my planned exercise in, but I may need to skip something because I have a super busy day ahead of me.

Plan for today:
Tomato/basil/mozzarella salad with EVOO
Pesto Chicken
Brown rice

Walk 4.7 miles
85-100 lunges
Maybe a 45 minute swim
3.1 mile slow evening stroll

Down: 0.4

06-26-2013, 09:56 AM
moondance: Thank you for the welcome!

Carma: (((((( Big Hugs! )))))) I am so very sorry for your loss!

Love: You are most welcome! WooHoo on the scale moving down! :carrot:

Zumba: I hope you have a great first day today!

I woke to the scale moving down again this morning! :carrot: I am enjoying a big glass of cold water and chit chatting here. Then I will be having breakfast and getting in my first big walk of the day. Breakfast will be a grapefruit, toast with peanut butter, and a small glass of milk.

It is hot here and very humid. We have a snow cone maker and I pulled that out yesterday. Treated myself to one instead of an ice cream cup or bar. Every day I have been treating myself to the cup or bar. If I do not allow myself treats then I will go overboard on them some time. I might have to put in an extra half a mile/mile but it's well worth it for me.

Have a fabulous day/night everyone! Keep on kicking butt! :carrot:

06-26-2013, 10:49 AM
Rennie When do you eat protein or fats? Those keep you full longer and build ....wait for it... all the 'old' folks know what's coming....muscles!;) there are lots of low carb and no sugar added protein powders. I had gestational with my 2nd (and last) - both my parents had it, too. And one sister. So far I have dodged the genetic bullet. So far. That was actually one of my big A-Ha moments. In Nov my doc told me (smugly), "So, following in your parents footsteps, huh?" And I said, "Nope. I will lose this weight." She just kinda looked at me like, "Yeah, right." Well - :p to her!

Sum I get overwhelmed with all the personals, too. We turned this challenge into the June Chat thread part 2 again. I just can't keep up with 2 threads! Stay busy - I always eat less when I'm busy. Or eat more once I do stop!:D

Heidi I love all things pumpkin! I am growing a bunch in the garden and I have a teeny tiny little pumpkin already - the size of a big marble. So excited! I bake, puree and freeze them and eat them all year long! I actually have pumpkin flavored protein powder, too. Great as a splash in coffee instead of creamer!

Zumba Way to stay strong! DG needs to realize that you aren't sitting around waiting on him. You have better things to do than wait for a man - like a new gym gig! So excited for you today!!

To ALL: :hug::wave:

Has anyone ever looked at this site? www.mybodygallery.com I got it from someone else's post here at 3FC.
It shows real people at various heights/weights. It's kinda interesting how different bodies look at same numbers. Everyone is an individual, right?

I ate 2300 calories yesterday and was still a little hungry between meals. And they were all good calories (no ice cream). Ugh. The day after working out makes me a ravenous beast. Speaking of, time to go lift weights in my gym that is currently doubling as a sauna. All part of my plan to shed water weight!

06-26-2013, 11:43 AM
Ok, today is the day I'm back on plan---I thought is be good yesterday, but it did not end that way. It's crazy how quickly I can fall back into bad eating habits! Six months of eating healthily and only 4 days to get completely sidetracked! No more.

It's great to see all the new people on this thread and see how crazy busy it is! I really need to read about 5 pages to do personals, but it's tough on the iPad. I will try later!

I hope everyone has a fantastic day!

06-26-2013, 11:48 AM
Zumba - congrats on the job.

I hear everyone about the personals, because I have zero "me" time right now! Kids are home and I feel like a chef with all the meals and snacks and drinks I am preparing each day. Plus, of course they want to do fun activities. :)

TOM is over and I am back to 158lbs this morning. So, as long as I am in the 150s, I am hopeful. I am not hopeful about getting exercise in today. Next week, I hope to start some bonding exercise time with DD, biking and walking while the other kids are in camp.

Good luck today!

06-26-2013, 01:28 PM
Zumba- congrats on the new job! Sounds like a good little upturn happening for you, that's good to hear.

Love-here's something you may want to check out, I remembered getting some free info packet for the in laws http://www.diabetes.org/living also http://ndep.nih.gov I don't want to be an alarmist but please do learn what you need to help you control your diabetes, my dear cousin is struggling through dialysis now due to kidney failure and one of the things she was telling me about recently was never really understanding some of the things that would have helped her control her diabetes better.

Did my push-ups and planks, stuck to my plan, added a little prayer of gratitude for the will and strength to get back on plan. I really want to get this last 20 off, not changing my tracker goal until I hit the first one on it, but really want to get to 143. There I said it out loud...lol

Sorry to not get to everyone with personals, on the phone...more later!

Best to all :sunny:

Zumba GoodLuckWith The New Job!

06-26-2013, 08:11 PM
Hi all...

Well I really did well today at work, I think I kicked my own butt....after work I rushed to the salon to get a new smoothing treatment on my hair..it took forever...I hope it works, I won't knwo for sure until I try and do my hair myself.....it was so expensive but i have been feeling so depressed lately, the least I can do is be unhappy in hair that isn't so frizzy....

did not eat well today at all....I had a isalean bar for breakfast, nothing for lunch, put some eggs on the stove to boil and forgot about them and they exploded..LOL....then we ordered chinese food for dinner because by the tine i cleaned up the exploded eggs I didn't feel like cooking..SO tomorrow won't be a good day on the scale but it is what it is...I know that I burned a good amount of calories todayso i'm not so worried.....

06-26-2013, 08:44 PM
GUAC I love having the kids home but I agree, I feel like a short order cook!! I"m always thinking about what i'm going to cook for them and what kind of healthy snacks i can put out for them...I just cut up a watermelon for them and they looked at me like I put out a bowl of sand....I they like fruit but lately they've been pretty picky....

KELIJ You are doing so great with your challenge....planks are no joke..

Congratulations to everybody that had losses on the scale.....:carrot: I don't think i'm going to be 140 by the end of the weekend but i'm fine with being 142. Lets see...

06-26-2013, 10:36 PM
Ugh, Ate way too much at the indian restaurant but it was sooo good. Hopefully the scale is still my friend. Ate about 300 of my exercise calories.
It was nice to chat with my sisters.

06-26-2013, 11:55 PM
Sum no personals is fine I like reading others post and always have a comment lol ... I love to talk ;) Is your salad just tomato with basil sprinkled over it? and with how much mozzarella? Sounds good thank you :)

thanks Aspen :) I really need to invest in a snow cone maker. The kids love the snow cone place here but it's expensive for all of us to go there so we don't go often. I like your breakfast. I'll have to try that one day after this week is over. :) Nice going on the scale :high:

2FC on day 5 I have an to eat the equivalent of 5 quarter pounders in beef and 6 whole tomatoes, that's why I asked Sum about that salad. If I can eat the tomatoes that way it should be easy, otherwise I'll just want to salt them and eat them whole and the salt part isn't good :D. I still don't know what to do about the beef. I need suggestions on what to there????? I just use an inexpensive powder from Walmart. I'll have to look up the low carb/no sugar ones. I never even gave it any thought, thanks :) Good for you on showing that doctor who knows herself well YOU :high:

Jennifer that is exactly why I just don't like weekends. I don't want to work seven days a week but if I'm not here and I just have a lunch bag with me and my children aren't wanting this and that then I do pretty well (most of the time). It is way too easy for me to get side tracked, smh. You are not alone :)

guacamole, Mom of five here. One married just celebrated her one year wedding anniversary today, then 3 boys 15, 14 and 12 and a 9 year old girl. I was just yelling because all I here is I want, I want. :D This is the first summer I have worked in forever and it is an experience :dizzy:

Keli, no alarm at all ... I thank you for your help and I take all that I can get  My paternal father's father died of diabetic complications after his leg or foot was amputated and Jimmy and his mother are also diabetic so I have no excuses ... And you can do it :)

mboo

Zumba LOL on the eggs my Mom did that once she said it scared her silly, then she had to laugh because she had never done it before :) and 142 is good, hey you never know your body may surprise you :).

Well I didn't have the salad greens like I wanted. I was running behind after getting on the computer first and left the salad at home. I bought a Caesar salad kit but I didn't use the croutons or the salad dressing that came with it. I just poured my cucumbers and dressing in the bag and ate the dark green parts and threw away the hard Romaine parts. I don't like them anyway. I also didn't get to eat my last serving of zucchini and squash but I think I'm ok. I'm not hungry but to be honest if it were any other time I would be eating something as I'm typing . Tomorrow is fruit and veggie day. My plan is ...

yogurt vanilla and apple turnover
coffee w/ sf caramel machiato
water melon OR a little of this spinach and artichoke stuff I made
~I used an entire container of spinach and 3 tablespoons of the spinach artichoke dip by Tostitos

finish spinach concoction

zucchini and squash

Have a good night everyone

06-27-2013, 08:19 AM
I did not get any exercise in yesterday. Perhaps it was a good thing; I have done something each and every day for the past 11 days, so rest day was in order. I was at the Finnish Center all day and my planned meals did not happen, boo. I ate too much, as well. So today I'll give my digestive system a little break and fast 24h. -- My fast days always make me feel better. Also, TOM arrived and I feel so bloated. -- I did not bother weighing in.

Plan for today; fast day

1- None
2- None
3- Jambalaya, spinach salad, melon

Walk 4.7 miles
85-100 Lunges 2/3

No weigh-in

06-27-2013, 10:30 AM
SUM how do you fast like that and not get dizzy....

Well my scale is up a little bit as I knew it would be after the chinese food. I definnitely didn't care yesterday. I was in a celebratory mood, probably relief after not bombing that gig I had yesterday morning..but now it is bak to reality.

I haven't walked since monday night, i wasn't in a walking mood with the weather being so hot and muggy....also i always walk with a friend and she couldn't walk last night. So I really have a lot of working out to make up for this week.

I am going to attempt to plan my meals today:

breakfast: EGGS

lunch: Atkins shake

dinner: salad with tuna fish and vegetables.

LOTS OF WATER TODAY!! I feel bloated

EXCERCISE zumba , squats, lift weights and/or walk.

I haven't been "out" in quite a while and I'm actually enjoying my solitude. I'm surprised that I haven't lost weight from not eating out or having any alocholic drinks. I gues my theory of gaining weight because I am out is not true.

06-27-2013, 10:35 AM
Zumba Congrats on your new and wonderful gig! I am so happy that you started out with a BANG! -- I never get dizzy or shaky when hungry, I don't know why. That is why IF seems so easy for me to follow. I don't even get hungry before 2 pm anyways and then those 3 hours usually goes by fast cooking and cleaning. Biggest obstacle; avoiding sampling during the cooking process, that takes a lot of willpower.

Off to my walk, so TaTa for now.
Just sending :dust: to all!

06-27-2013, 10:37 AM
Sum Take the rest days! Or else you'll end up with a pulled...glute or something equally embarrassing. I walked around like I had a dirty diaper for a few days. Not pretty!

Rennie I hear you on the sodium. I can only have 1500mg or less a day. Boo Hiss. Mrs. Dash sodium free blends are my best friends. I can't imagine that many kids! My two girls are grown, gone and married with kids of their own.

Zumba Did not know that about eggs. I did find out the hard way that butter explodes in the microwave...but at least it was contained!

The gym wasn't so bad yesterday - only 72 so not too hot. I figured out which exercise did my glute in last week: single leg romanian deadlifts. As soon as I started them yesterday I felt the same pulling - did I stop? Nope. But I did drop down to a lesser weight. I'll never learn.;)

I'm off to walk the girls 3.5 miles and then another shower and go to town to run errands. In this humidity I shower at least 3 times a day. I sweat easily and copiously. We are under a flood watch this evening - 2" of rain expected tonight. After this humidity and heat I can't wait. Just hope it doesn't beat my garden up.

Hope all have a great and On Plan Day!

06-27-2013, 11:09 AM
Happy Thursday! :D It's also National Bomb Pop Day!

I've been out of the loop the last couple of days. Work was busy (ever had to take care of a roomful of executives? They're like children!) then rehearsals and board meetings at night. You know you haven't been home much when your husband says "geez, these kitchen counters are getting pretty gross". I said "so clean them".

Food & exercise wise: doing well on the food (didn't retain too much water from the Japanese food). Haven't been in to exercise in two days and it's killing me. Today I'm making time before rehearsal for my full workout, which is 35 min cardio, 40 min weights plus push-ups and planks. How freaky that I'm excited about it! The good news is that the scale is being kind, which is making me think those meds really have been holding me back. I'm giving it a month though, to fully evaluate.

I've got a ton to catch up with now that the exec's are gone. I did read everything and will try to do personals later!

Keep up the good work Peeps!! :D

06-27-2013, 11:29 AM
Good morning, everyone! I was down .6 pounds today, so I think my over, over-indulgence is starting to come off! I have to be super vigilant this week. I have also not been exercising except my walks, so I am back on squats, planks and pushups today!

Aspen: Your level of walking is amazing! I am addicted to hummus--yum! It's a healthy snack too.

Kelijpa: How are your pushups and planks going? I am ready to start again, but I am still at knee pushups.

2FatCats: Definitely go for grad school after 40. Life experiences just make you both a better student and future counselor. I think you'd be fantastic!

Moondance: I hope the no meds is working. So, today is Bomb Pop Day? Boy does that take me back to thee ice cream truck days of my childhood. I loved those things!

Carma: I can't believe you get up and walk that early! That's the kind of motivation I need.

Heidi; Falafel=yum Any Greek/Mediterranean/ Northern African cuisine is my absolute favorite!

Rennie: Congrats on the loss--you are doing great!

Zumba: Yay on the job! Also DG texting you is pretty interesting--I swear, boys!

Sum: I took 2 walks yesterday too--we got absolutely drenched during the first one and ended up jogging part of the way home. I hate running like you hate lifting!

Guac: Bonding time and exercise with DD sounds fantastic!

Sorry to anyone I missed! Have a great day!

06-27-2013, 11:44 AM
Hey, friends. Very busy here, only have time to skim. All is going well. Got a juicer yesterday for my DH so we've been drinking a lot of veggies in the last 24 hours LOL.

Will check in when I can, but don't worry about me. I'm on plan and staying that way!

(air conditioner is still broken - 2fatcats I can't imagine exercising in the attic of an antique house! I grew up in one, and many years after I moved away, my parents install AC, so it's possible... their house was from about 1840).

06-27-2013, 12:54 PM
I hope everyone is doing well!

The day is off to a good start. So far I have had 24 ozs of water, just starting another 12 ozs. For breakfast I had a grapefruit and 12 ozs of skim milk with a serving of protein powder. I walked a little over 4 miles, just over 10,000 steps, so far. Will be getting lunch soon; a piece of toast, 10 baby carrots, and a serving of hummus. I am going to make either chicken or fish for dinner, vegetables (have not decided what yet), and a carb that has not been decided on. I also have not decided on snacks. With all the exercise I do, I usually have to have a few snacks during the day.

I saw another drop this morning! :cp: Yesterday morning I was 153.8, this morning 153.4. :cp: Slowly and steadily losing my extra pounds. Looking forward to my first 10 pounds gone (151) and getting into the 140s.

Go kick behind, everyone!!

06-27-2013, 01:04 PM
Hi Jenn-got the push-ups and planks in today, starting to feel pretty good about them, added 5 knee push-ups and 10 seconds on one of my planks.
More later :sunny:

06-27-2013, 05:33 PM
Did my afternoon walk, around 3.5 miles. This evening I will do another walk. I try to get in at least two walks but prefer three or four depending on the amount of miles of each.

For snack I ended up having a veggie omelet. Yum! And had my treat, a Schwan's ice cream cup. Dinner will be Tilapia, California blend (carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower), and roasted sweet potatoes.

Typical to FL summers it's looking like a storm is brewing. I enjoy sitting out on the lanai and listening and watching the rain.

06-27-2013, 05:40 PM
Hi all.....Had my zumba class this morning, then got my mammo and sonogram..winds up I need a biopsy even though they think its just cysts..so here we go...I went through this last year. I"m not going to worry about it. Its more of an inconvenience at this point than anythng else. Whiel everyone else is planning an enjoyable fourth of july weeknd Im planning a biopsy and then i'll be spending the rest of the weekend alone at home doing nothing. No wonder I eat....

I had two eggs today, some pot roast for lunch and an isalean bar. I feel a little worn out from spending three hours at the hospital getting tests done. I am going to try and get to the gym to lift weights tonight.

06-27-2013, 05:47 PM
Zumba good luck with your biopsy! As you said, more often than not, it's nothing. Doesn't help the stress, though.

06-27-2013, 06:09 PM
Zumba:  I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you and praying.

06-27-2013, 06:26 PM
Zumba, just went through it myself...and it was nothing. Hang in there!

06-27-2013, 06:41 PM
Zumba- sux, but is for the best. I'll never forget when I was younger going through the compression one at the hospital, they must have done it four times, then finally sent me for ultrasound because they couldn't see through, of course they didn't tell me that 'til the end. Hope all goes well for you!

Best to all :sunny:

06-27-2013, 08:53 PM
Hi ALL

Sum great going with the 11 days in a row. One day I'll be able to say that. :) Good for you on taking a rest day :) Fasting and still working out, I applaud you :high:

Zumba good day planned :) Prayers and positive thoughts and strength are sent your way

2FC I call our house the fun house. :) I've had eggs do that with butter in the microwave also now I just cover them with paper towel and tada no mess :D

Moondance, LOL on you and hubby's conversation :) great planning on the exercises and even better that you want to do them :high:

Thanks Jennifer and good job on the .6 down :)

Heidi have fun with your juicer :)

Aspen good job on the .4 down, slow and steady :high: you had a great day :)

Keli  work out done :)

I weighed in this morning a pound down at 191.2. My eating plan didn't go as it should have I caved during the kids snack time and ate 6 (yes six) vanilla creme cookies.

Here is how my meals went ....

yogurt orange cream and apple turnover
1/2 c spinach and artichoke stuff I made
~I used an entire container of spinach and 3 tablespoons of the spinach artichoke dip by Tostitos

apple slices

6 unplanned vanilla creme cookies

spinach and artichoke concoction with parmesan cheese to give it flavor
1 turnip
cup of low sodium V8

just had a very small piece of a 80/20 burger I cooked for day five. I don't know why I cooked them today. Maybe because I won't feel like it tomorrow and my Auntie just invited us over tomorrow for ice cream and cake. I don't want to not go since I told her I would come but birthday cake is a major weakness for me unless it is chocolate then I don't want it anyway. So hopefully it will be chocolate. :D

Tomorrow is day four -- as much as eight bananas and three glasses of milk and the cabbage soup.

06-27-2013, 09:24 PM
Well, finished my evening walk, did almost 3 miles. Now I am going to go see if anything good is on tv or watch something on the DVR...I need some mindless tv time. Need to go find a snack also. Maybe an apple with peanut butter. Right now my calories burned are almost 1,000 more than the calories in. Yay! I try for 500 to 1,000. So even with a snack I am good.

06-28-2013, 07:05 AM
Hi Girls,

Aspen you are amazing with your walks! 4 walks per day? How do you have the time? I am struggling to walk once and do gym time what comes to my free time :D

love2b150 Congrats on your pound. How long is this restricted phase on your diet? Your day looked pretty darn nice, even with the cookies.

kelijpa Woot on your push-ups and planks! Those or atleast planks will be my next challenge item.

Zumba Million and one hugs to you!! Did you schedule the appointment yet?

Heidi Woohoo on your new juicer! Sorry that your A/C is still broken.

Jennifer You prolly did not gain any "real" weight, just water bloat. And maybe it was a good thing to shock your system a bit, you may actually see a fast drop soon. Life is too short not to enjoy ourselves every once in awhile. You went for 6 months OP, a little slip up won't mean a thing.

Moondance What a busy gal you are. Love it! When is the play?

2FatCats I hope your garden survived. Mine looked pretty sad last night :( We even got a little water in the basement :( It was pouring over here in MI.

06-28-2013, 07:15 AM
I am stuck at 150 pound range :( I am hoping that now that TOM got here I would see my monthly whoosh... So far, nope.

I did manage to get to 100 lunges :yay: My butt feels a bit sore/tight this morning. Those suckers are h-a-r-d! I am hoping that a few months from now I can start seeing results :)

Plan for today

Bfast; Veggie omelet
Lunch; Tomato/basil/watermelon/mozzarella salad
Dinner; Salmon, potato, veggie and strawberries with whipping cream
Snacks; TBD

4.7 mile walk
weights 45-50 min

Weight; 150

Sum re:squatting. I had a pancake bum. The not-quite-cooked-all-the-way-slightly lumpy-pancakes, too. It's not a firm ripe peach or anything yet - but at least I can fill out the back of my pants now! No more saggy bottoms!
Hang in there!! You'll probably not be the first to see those results, though. Ask the hubby to watch for you. Mine is more than happy to oblige!

HeidiA/C is very possible - our furnace could do both - just need the ac unit and lines. But it seems a bit of overkill to do all that and we only have about 2 weeks that are super hot every year. Like today - high is 68. My sis has the vitathingy and juices everything. I tried it - but I need to chew veggies or else I feel like I didn't eat.

Aspen You'll hit that 10lb mark in no time! And the legs you must have with all that walking! I thought I walked a lot!

Moondance Hope the no meds experiment works!

Jennifer Go squats, planks and push ups! Like Sum said, enjoy life! Sometime I forget to enjoy the process because I am so fixated on the goal.

Rennie I call my house the zoo - all the fur children. I usually cover stuff but I thought I was only 'softening' the butter. Oops.

Kelijpa Woot to adding time to the planks and more push ups! I'm going to go work out in a few minutes and attempt a few chin-ups. *gulp*

Zumba:hug: My sister told me yesterday that the drs found two lumps in my nieces 'girls'. She was 33 on Tuesday. She's waiting on biopsy, results. The dr says it might just be an old plugged duct from nursing her last son (for 2 years!). They aren't worried - just waiting on results. Again, to you!

To Any / All I missed:hug:

06-28-2013, 11:14 AM
Zumba: I'm sure it's just a cyst, but I will be thinking of you.

2FatCats: We don't have AC either. Our house is from 1920, and still has radiators. We would have to tear everything up to put in duct work, which I am not willing to do. We have a couple of window units if it gets really hot (haven't used then tis year--only hot for a few days). I have a pancake butt, so I really hope my squats will help. I'm sure DH will monitor the situation for me ;)

Rennie: good job on the scale moving downward!

Aspen: your calorie in v. Calorie out ratio is amazing.

Sum: Great job on the lunges. We will totally have rocking bums soon!

I bought DD a nice used bike yesterday for her to take to college, so we took 2 family bike rides. The second one was just me and the kids (DH is back on midnights) and we got stuck in the rain and drenched riding home from Subway. Fun times! I weighed at 167.4 today, so most of my weight gain is gone. Now to get under 165...

I hope everyone has a fantastic day!

06-28-2013, 11:43 AM
Happy FRIDAY! :D It's also Watermelon Seed Spitting Week.

Phew...it's been a long week. I'm so glad it's Friday! I'm sticking well to plan (even with the ridiculously high calorie cookie from Panera Bread...sheesh...lesson learned there!) and got in most of my full workout yesterday. I'm really working on the push-ups and plank challenge!

I got asked to be member of the month at the fitness center. I guess they've noticed my dedication to coming in for the last 7 months. I'm not sure I like being highlighted like that. I like to keep my head down, workout and leave. But I agreed anyway. It's good to get out of your comfort zone now and again, right?

2FatCats: That much humidity is hard to take. Won't the rain make it even worse? "single leg romanian deadlifts"...sound barbaric! Rock on, girl!

Jennifer: Did you get back on track? I'm sure you did! I loved the ice cream man. Yesterday, a friend of mine has his car hit by the ice cream truck. The guy didn't put it park and it rolled down the hill. Even knocked the clown head off the top of the truck. I'm sure some kid is completely traumatized now! Imagine a severed clown head laying in the lawn...

newleaf123: Staying cool? Hows the juicer?

aspen13: You're getting mighty close to that goal! WTG!! I spent 5 months in Cocoa Beach a couple of years ago. I too loved to sit and watch the rain. I never really understood what a steamy environment could be before that! Boy, you are a walking machine!!

Zumba: Hope you're having a good day today!

love2b150: Be strong with the cake! Looking at your menu, I wonder if you're getting enough protein. A little bit of burger wouldn't last me, I know that! What is your total calorie count for the day?

kelijpa: Good job with the planks and push-ups!

Sum38: Hope you get your whoosh soon! I'm so impressed with all the lunges you're doing. Those are SO hard! You're going to have a J-Lo butt before you know it! I can't believe it will be months before you see a difference. BTW, my show opens August 9. Not much time left...

06-28-2013, 11:54 AM
Have A Great Friday Everyone!!

I AmGetting Closer To Getting Out If The 180$ And Closer To My Short Term Goal Of 175 LooksLikeI Need To Decide On My Goal Weight So I Can Get A New Tracker.

06-28-2013, 12:21 PM
Hello, everyone!

Thank you all for the compliments. My son and I recently made an out-of-state move and I have chosen to take some time to work on myself before taking on some daycare children. So I have the day to work on getting healthier. I told myself before I started I was going to think of this as my job right now and spend hours on it...even overtime. I would like to be well on my way to goal before I restart my daycare here.

This morning TOM arrived but I am feeling pretty good. Normally I am bloated, feeling crampy, and just plain not feeling well. I even woke to my scale the same as yesterday morning.

For breakfast I had a grapefruit, veggie omelet, and 12 ozs of water. Every morning as soon as I wake I drink 12 ozs. Now enjoying my third glass. I have not thought about lunch or snacks yet...even though lunch will be soon. Dinner will be pork chops, roasted sweet potatoes, and whatever veggie my son picks out. Will be avoiding bread/rolls today. I get a bit bloated when I eat bread/rolls and between bloated from all the water I drink and TOM, I do not want to add any more.

I have walked a little over 4 miles so far. I am not sure if with TOM I will get in all my walking I usually do the next couple days. We shall see.

Watch out fat, here we come! :club: You go girls!

06-28-2013, 01:49 PM
Is it the end of August yet? Kids have been home one day and already the I'm bored has started. Both went out for the walk with me(later today than normal as I am not working for 5 days)DS walked 20 minutes and was done. DD walked/ran for 40 minute on her own. 4th grade fitness test will be this fall for her so she is trying to get ready. She might do the couch to 5k workout with me tomorrow. I walked an hour. It's so humid and the mosquitos ugh. I must remember to get bug spray. 216.2 on the scale this morning so the indian restaurant only put me up 0.2lbs and it's back down already.
Rennie: congrats on the weight loss
Sum: great job on the lunges. How do you find out more about IF?
Aspen: Awesome on the walking and weight loss.
Zumba: Will keep you in my thoughts :hugs:
Jenn: I knew the weight gain would be gone. Great job.
Hi to anyone I missed. Have to go running errands. Have a great day all.

Moon: wow, member of the month. That does show dedication.
2fatcats: Great job on the maintain. You're a great motivator for us who have a ways to go.
Heidi: How is the juice?

06-28-2013, 08:10 PM
192.0 up .8 from yesterday. I ate the cheese off of a slice of pizza (the frozen kind so not too big) but it was late and I only got 6.5 hours of sleep. Eight hours of sleep does my body good.

Meals today

apple turnover yogurt
2 bananas
glass of milk
cabbage soup
coffee on the go

1.5 slices of turkey and cheese <-- added this because I felt a little light headed
vanilla yogurt <--- in place of the glass of milk I missed
2 bananas
cabbage soup

glass of milk
2 bananas
cabbage soup

had 4oz of milk at 7:55p

still have two more bananas to eat but I won't get to them if it's after 8pm <-- not gonna happen :D

so far only 101.4oz of water

06-28-2013, 08:59 PM
Aspen well done today :high: I use to do home child care now I work at one. :)

Thanks Sum it's a 7 day plan so I have to figure out what I am going to do on on day 8 because there is no day eight which is Tuesday. I have to have a plan in place or everything I have done will fall by the wasteside. I know me :) Looking at your daily plan I may just copy your menus and take it from there :D

2FC, maybe I need to try doing some squats to give me a behind of some sort. I always say God made me backwards, big in and round in the front and flat in the back. My Mom and I laugh about it :) Yeah they just look at it as extra to relax on same with non-fur babies :D

Thanks Jennifer :) Good for you on the weigh in 164 here you come :) I crack up when we get caught in a down pour the kids think I'm nuts

Moondance yes it is good to get out of your confort zone. :) Congrats on being the HIGHLIGHT at the Fitness Center :high: I was just tasting the burger it wasn't part of the plan so I wasn't hungry thank goodness and I actually allowed myself to recognize it for a change because it was good  I haven't even added up one day of eating which I do from time to time on myfitnesspal. My normal intake is not to go over 1600.

:congrat: mboo a new ticker WOW! :) I need to actually have a continual loss so I can move the one I have, LOL :). Great Job :high:

Thanks Carma :) My kids have been home almost a month now, I'm with you. I can't wait until they go back. They eat up everything and text me to tell me what they need, smh. Bored eating I tell them will make them look like me ... not good, but my baby always tells me how good I look. She's so sweet. :) Glad the Indian food didn't stick around :) Restaurant eating always scares me.

06-28-2013, 10:52 PM
Hi, guys. Quick pop in here; I'll have very little access for the next week; I'm in FL visiting my parents, along with my DSs. No exercise today. It's hard here, where the boys get bored and then get at each other. But tomorrow I hope to get out in the canoe or kayak. We will see. The boys will be in camp here all next week, so that's when I'll get to focus more on me.

The AC is fixed, and we slept in the cool last night (we flew today). And the juicer is fun. I look forward to playing with it when I get back.

06-28-2013, 10:59 PM
Heidi, glad the a/c is fixed :) Enjoy yourself :)

06-28-2013, 11:19 PM
Hi everyone, will try to get personals in tomorrow, you chicks are doing great!

Crazy girl here doing my planks and push ups at 10 pm before bed, up to 3 30 second planks, they are hard too Sum! :D and 3 sets 10 knee push ups, looking forward to no arm waggle some day.

NewLeaf, I love the juicer and ninja, I have a smoothie made with baby spinach and other stuff for my iron on non juice days, we sometimes juice blast and lunch then have veggie salad for supper, it really helps with bloat, I think.

Moon dance, congrats on the recognition, you're right good to push yourself out of the comfort zone sometimes, I hate to do it but always feel better after...

2FC, congrats on getting rid of your pancake, lol, I need to work on my hips or saddlebags, not sure what they're called, I started to do some side leg lifts, thinking that may help tone up that area. I hate when I'm walking into work and see my reflection in the glass doors, I always zoom in on the hips...I guess I should be thinking they probably make my waist look smaller...lol

Aspen, you're awesome with the walking, that's what I should be doing and usually make it during the week but fall off on the weekends.

Well I better go to bed, like Love said 8 hours does my body good, I won't get that at this rate!

Best to all :sunny:

06-29-2013, 08:52 AM
Maybe my monthly whoosh fairy has arrived, do I dare to hope?? Can I count on her?? Do I trust her?? -- Scale went down by 0.6 pounds and this is usually the time of month (lol) that I drop most of my weight. :crossed:
I just met my monthly goal of 4.4 pound loss. Slow but steady. -- According to my charting plan; I should be at goal in November.

2FC, I just gave my DH the task of inspecting my rear end :lol3: He said my hamstrings are starting to show and be nicely rounded. -- My butt feels quite muscular, but I just have a few inches of fat covering it :( Hoping to keep dropping that ugly fat and reveal a nice and perky bumm at some point. :D I am so glad I am doing my weightloss and "toning" at the same time.

Today is my 100 lunge day. I feel good enough about them now that I am sure I will once again do all 100. I still needed to break them up 20/20/20/15/15/10; I am hoping to do all in 5 sets today, they are just so darn tiring, and I am making sure that I am keeping a good form whilst doing them.

I only did 30 minutes at the gym yesterday; I was just not feeling it. I regretted it later, a good learning lesson.

Plan for today

1- Broiled eggplant, Sliced tomatoes, Feta cheese
2- Big salad w/veggies, 3 oz salmon, feta cheese
3- Meatballs, mashed potatoes, asparagus and watermelon
Snacks: fruit and peanut butter
4.7 mile walk
45-60 minute swim
100 lunges

Weight 149.4
Down 0.6

06-29-2013, 09:48 AM
I really enjoy waking up in the morning and checking in here. It is hard to keep up with writing personals but know that I read everything and right there with you all. This is a ride, at times a very scary ride, and it's great to have others along with you.

:cb: The scale went down again this morning, 153.4 to 153...and that is with TOM. :cb:.

Yesterday I really had to push myself more then usual to get in all my walking. I am so very proud of myself for going almost 11 miles in total, even with TOM. I actually found that the walking stopped my crampy feelings. I will have to do extra pushing today also, actually today could be the worse. Usually the second day for me is the worst day. I am showing who is boss though! :club: ;)

For breakfast I had a Slim-Fast meal bar (not a fan of them, prefer eating *real* food, but I need to finish them off) and 12 oz of water. I will be having either a grapefruit or apple also. I have not made plans for any other meal or snack yet. Can you tell I never (or rarely) plan my meals. My son and I like to decide as the day goes on. We did have pork chops yesterday, so most likely we will go with some sort of fish today for dinner. I like to have fish every other day.

I hope everyone had/is having/will have a great day today!! :df:

06-29-2013, 11:47 AM
Keli, :high: to ya for doing your exercise, at least you got them in:) I love the fact that you can put spinach into any smoothie and though it changes the color it doesn't change the flavor :) Oh and I got my eight and was still only down by .4, smh :)

Sum :congrat: on making your monthly goal, great job :) I made a tomato, basil and parmesan salad with a Greek oil and vinaigrette dressing. It's good, thanks for the idea :) I didn't know how I was gonna eat those tomatoes when I first read the food for this day :)

Aspen good job on the .4 down. :) When I tried eating the meal bars they weren't enough for me and I would always eat too much of something else which would be the wrong thing usually. Eventhough you don't have a plan you still have the mindset to eat healthy afterwards ... I hope to get there :)

I woke up to 191.6 down .4 from yesterday. I have to say that I am still not satisfied. I know that I haven't done much moving but it says that I will be 10-17lbs lighter. Do you think the little tweaking that I have done has anything to do with it? It's not a lot and it is first thing in the morning with breakfast so my body has time to process the yogurt and coffee. Idk ... I guess I should be grateful for the little water weight it has taken off huh

Today calls for 10oz of beef or the equivalent of 5 - 1/4 burgers and 6 tomatoes

06-29-2013, 01:56 PM
Just got home from a walk....lots of housework to do today..I'm staying low carb because the last two days I ate everything.....I'm getting nowhere.....no one to blame but myself..

06-29-2013, 02:26 PM
Afternoon All,

Kelijpa: Do squats and/or lunges. Your butt and hips will show their appreciation!

Sum: I tried on an old swimsuit today and it wasn't too bad. But it showed me that I still need to work on my upper thigh area. My inner upper thighs aren't that attractive and I have a few fat pouches on my hips above my bum. It's only been a few months so I have faith that with continued squats, deadlifts and lunges I'll get there. Maybe not this summer, but eventually!

Aspen: I don't even like to drive 11 miles much less walk them! And I don't do rain or snow walks. Good for you for doing it despite TOM. I think exercise helps get rid of crampiness, too.

Rennie: Take every ounce that comes your way- or leaves -your way!

Here: Well, those chin-ups kicked my back and biceps. After workout yesterday (and breakfast and coffee) the scale shocked me with 139.8. That's crazy - I really have to eat more but I'm really finding it hard to eat over 2000 calories - let alone 2400. I already eat 6 meals - maybe I'll just have to add a couple more small ones in since I can't stuff all those calories into 6 healthy meals. Some days it feels like I never leave the kitchen.

Hope all are well and OP!

06-29-2013, 02:59 PM
Moondance on the cake, my Auntie called me and said they are changing the celebration to today. But I think I actually have my mind under control, so no worries. :)

Zumba good plan :)

Thanks 2FC, I sure will :) I really want to be at 189.8 tomorrow but I am a little leary since I'm eating beef today, hummm. Wow 139, Nice :) (a dream for me) :)

I'm having lunch now an hour and a half later than I would be if I were at work. But I wasn't hungry at 12:30 so I guess it's ok right? It's the exact same thing I had for breakfast. My middle boy is making pancakes for he and his older brother (the butter smell is making me wanna puke) and my daughter is making a pepperoni pizza on a tortilla shell. Glad I'm not hungry or craving carbs, Yay Me :)

06-29-2013, 07:20 PM
Evening all personals to follow.
I hit 215.4 this morning. :carrot:
My internet was down this morning. Overslept, so I was late for my walk so I could only go for 40 minutes. My niece had a swim meet in Ct(They are from NH) so we wanted to go there to support her. Ate out at a bagel place, I did pretty well except I forgot to bring Chocolate almond milk with me. I make a mocha with a cup of almond milk and then I don't need to sweeten the iced coffee. So foolish me poured half the full fat chocolate milk into the glass without realizing the amount of calories. 230 ouch. Since I ate almost all my exercise calories the day before I really wanted to stay under my 1760 calories and bank my exercise calories.
We also went out for late lunch. I was pretty pleased ate all my salad. Avoided all but 1 piece of Italian bread. I immediately took half of my pork tenderloin with half of the gorgonzola cream sauce and mashed potatoes and put it aside for me to eat later, :dancer:I then ate all of the grilled veg. I probably could have ordered something healthier but I wanted to see how I would do with ordering unhealthy. Finished lunch at around 3pm. Not feeling overly hungry now. Going to make sure I drink 4 more glasses of water and have just oatmeal and an apple for my dinner and that will put me just under 1760.
Going to do some house cleaning/laundry tonight and go for another 40 minute walk then maybe watch a movie with DH.

06-29-2013, 07:50 PM
Love: I have definitely decided that I have to eat out more to learn control. I plan to go somewhere out of my comfort zone once a week at my minimum. I hear you on the planning. I definitely like to plan but I know it was driving my family nutty so I have tried to be a little more easy going about it. I know obsess with exercise instead. :D
Heidi: Have a great time in Florida. :sunny:Glad the ac is fixed.
Kelli: Great job on the strength training. :strong:

Sum: Big congrats on the 149. Your meals sound so good. I have never been an eggplant fan but willing to try it. It's a purple food and I have avoided those most of my life. I eat blueberries but they are losing their desire and I need to mix it up. I try to get all 5 colors in a day of the veg. :broc:
Aspen: You are on fire girl. Keep that walking and eating up and you will be at goal in no time. :flame:
Zumba: Good luck on the low carb. I know they are your weakness. Be strong.:cheer:

2FC: Wow 139. How long are your weightlifting sessions?:strong:

06-29-2013, 08:17 PM
Carma nice weigh in :high: I think you did very well today :) I know for a fact that I have NO control when I'm out. First off I can't decide what I want, then I order what I don't need, then I nibble at the kids food if it's something I want to try so it's just not good for me. I need to learn how to eat in correctly first (meaning stick with it). I can plan but if I'm not careful I am easily diverted. I'm a big kid :D My husband is 6"6 and thin. The kids all but one are thin also. My oldest son is me all the way. I'm trying my hardest to get him to eat properly. :)

I am eating my dnnner and I gave half of the last burger to my daughter. I am too full to eat the whole burger. I am trying to finish the tomato salad with 6 asparagus spears. I only ate 3 of the 6 tomatoes.

ETA: I didn't finish all of the tomatoes or the asparagus. Today's meals sent me to the bathroom. I feel way lighter. Hope that means I will have a nice weigh in tomorrow :crossed: My son has this app called WATER YOUR BODY so I downloaded it. I have drank all of my water for the day plus some and it says in the notes that for every 32ozs of water you drink you should have a quarter teaspoon of salt. Have any of you ever heard that before?

06-29-2013, 08:22 PM
Thank you so much, everyone!

Sounds like everyone has been having a pretty positive day today...and lots of housecleaning and laundry. I got to the laundry and washing bedding but turned my back from major housecleaning today. My bathrooms (3) could all use a deep cleaning.

I have really pushed myself hard today. I am very stubborn and when I switched my thinking from pouting about TOM to showing TOM who is boss, my stubbornness came out full swing. I have already walked and jogged almost 10 miles and I still plan to do one more mini session. I have also not given in to any cravings. I usually do not crave much at all and definitely don't crave much salty things but on the first two days I seem to crave salty things. I stuck to my healthy eating and I actually do not have cravings any more. I'm treating myself and putting extra money in my savings account (all I save will be for a big shopping spree when I reach goal).

06-29-2013, 11:40 PM
Quick for Carma: Weight lifting sessions are 3x week, I warm up with dynamic stretching for about 10 minutes, then lift for about 30, then cool down dynamically for 10 minutes and finally stretch for another 10. I have to do extra stretching or I won't be able to walk the next day! Due to the AS in my SI joint, my hip flexors are super tight so they need lots of extra attention.

06-30-2013, 02:35 AM
Carma My son has this app called WATER YOUR BODY so I downloaded it. I have drank all of my water for the day plus some and it says in the notes that for every 32ozs of water you drink you should have a quarter teaspoon of salt. Have any of you ever heard that before?

I wouldn't take any extra salt; it's probably even true in the absolute sense, but it doesn't take into account he amount (usually much to high) of salt in our food intake.

06-30-2013, 07:56 AM
[B] My son has this app called WATER YOUR BODY so I downloaded it. I have drank all of my water for the day plus some and it says in the notes that for every 32ozs of water you drink you should have a quarter teaspoon of salt. Have any of you ever heard that before?

I agree with magicsusan on the salt. You are probably already getting enough sodium in your diet. Most americans get 2 times as much sodium. Check out a calorie counting app. I use myfitnesspal but some people use lose it. Not only does it track your calories but it also tracks salt, sugar, protein &carbs. You can plan your food out. Also if you have high blood pressure you should be avoiding salt.

06-30-2013, 09:40 AM
I am shocked about the amount of sodium (and sugar for that matter) in things. Makes me want to drink more water.

love: I hope you had good news on your scale this morning. I woke to being .6 higher. So even walking and jogging 12.40 miles yesterday, drinking almost 72 oz of water, and keeping my calories burned 1,000 over calories in...I still gained a bit. Stupid TOM. Though I am pretty sure if I didn't push myself a bit more the past couple days the weight gain would have been worse. I think today I will fall back to my 9 to 10 miles. I am very proud of myself for not only pushing through my two tough days per month but actually pushing harder. I would have preferred to curl up and watch tv all day...still remain eating healthy though. I think it actually helped a great deal to keep moving.

Off to finish breakfast and drink another 12 oz of water and then ready for my morning walking and jogging.

You go girls!! Finish out this week strong! Watch out fat here we come!

06-30-2013, 09:44 AM
Magicsusan and Carma, I thought didn't make sense but I just wanted to make sure no one else had done anything like that. We don't cook with salt or add extra salt to anything (my son will use season all on his fries) but to me the ketchup has enough salt in it so I'm fine.

Carma I'm on myfitnesspal also I'm love2b136 on there :D. I need to adjust my settings on there. I went on a weight calculator and it said my calories should be 1200 per day to get down to 150 by March 2014.

Well I am in the 180's but like I said I have to stick to plan in order to make this work. I am at 189.6 down -2lbs from yesterday. I'm happy with that. Today is day 6 all the vegetables I can eat and beef.

Have a great day Everyone

06-30-2013, 09:57 AM
Aspen we were posting at the same time. I use to walk twice a day sometimes and after a while it seems to make matters worse. I would have a slight gain the morning after so I stopped and 3-4 miles just seemed to do me just fine. But you are use to constant exercise and walking so go for what you know. I :cp: you :high: I drink at least 96oz plus of water each day. I'm not fond of juice (and I don't need it anyway, diabetic) and I just need an occasional sip of soda which is usually Pepsi Max unless TOM is visiting then I drink Sprite to slow my flow. Sounds funny I know but two ladies I use to work with told me to do it since it seemed I was going to the bathroon every 30-40 minutes and I was going through a pack and a half of always orange pads. And they were right the flow is lighter. :)

06-30-2013, 10:11 AM
Good morning, ladies! I'm hoping for a beautiful Sunday with no rain. It has rained and/or stormed way too much here in the last week! I'm still doing pretty well. I didn't eat the greatest yesterday (had a hot sausage sandwich at a local festival), but I did bike and walk. DH and I actually rode our bikes to a neighboring town (only about 3-4 miles away) because I had a haircut. We stopped for a healthy salad for lunch on way home. I've decided I'm going to ride my bike for as many errands as possible this summer to both get great exercise and reduce my carbon footprint. I also walked with my DD in the evening. My weigh in today was 167.4. My goal is to lose 2 pounds this week. Lofty, but possible if I can get my eating under control. I have a ton of housecleaning today, and I'm planning a long bike ride and walk. Burn calories, burn!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Lovely Ladies,

I ended up going out for sushi and to my great surprise I did not show a gain on my scale this AM. I feel a bit bloated, therefore I will consume lots and lots of water and green tea through out the day. Maybe I will show a drop tomorrow morning? I think I can say that I have left the 150's behind me :woohoo:

I am a bit sore from my lunges. I managed to do all 100 in 5 sets of 20, which made me very proud and happy.

I had a super physical day yesterday; I walked 4.7 miles, mowed the lawn (another 6000 steps/3 miles), cleaned upstairs, swam 60 minutes, 100 lunges and took an evening walk of 3.2 miles. My total steps were nearly 25 000 for the day :yay: (catching up with you Aspen ) -- I can't wait when I can eat all these calories back 2FC! Ice cream!!

Zumba Did you buy your car yet?

love2b150 That is interesting about Sprite. I wish I had known that. My flow seems to be getting lighter and lighter with age. I think it is strange because I thought I should start seeing heavier periods with age. I am still super regular as well. Congrats on your 180's!!!

Plan for today

1- broiled eggplant, tomato slices, feta cheese
1 1/2- mixed nuts
2- mozzarella/basil/tomato salad with evoo
2 1/2- apple with bp
3- chicken, brown rice, veggie and watermelon
3 1/2- 100% juice popsicle
Totals 1,240 106 69 64 16 (Calories Carbs Fat Protein Fiber )

4.7 mile walk
weights 45 min
maybe slow 3.2 mile evening walk

Weight 149.4
No change

06-30-2013, 11:10 AM
Maintained the 215.4 today. Already walked an hour. Going to be cleaning today with the kids for their rooms and hopefully will get to my room.
Aspen: Good job on only the tiny gain.:carrot: TOM is hard. The exercise would improve your cramps. Many studies on that.

Love: Congrats on 189.:cb: Sent you a my fitness pal request. Good luck on day 6.

Even though I "weigh in" once a week, I am pretty much in the habit of stepping on the scale every day or every other day. And I know everybody's weight fluctuates significantly, and those fluctuations are pretty meaningless.

But this latest bounce is maddening. Over the last 8 days I am up 6 pounds. In that time I have bicycled over 60 miles, worked out on the elliptical trainer, and done some vigorous yard work. I have not pigged out. Though I have had a couple of beers on both Fri and Sat night. Shouldn't beer have a diuretic effect?

I don't know what to think. Maybe it is all the exercise, maybe its the bloaty time of my cycle (it is) but 6 pounds seems kinda extreme. I am trying to take it in stride.

You do have to take it in stride. I gained and lost 4 pounds in 5 days simply in water weight. You didn't put on the weight linearly and it won't come off that way either. Environmental temperatures, the amount of exercise, the amount of sodium in your food, hormonal cycles, all converge to affect that scale number. Keep doing what's been working. As long as the overall trend is down, you're doing okay. You're doing great!

06-30-2013, 03:39 PM
Jennifer I would love to lose 2lbs in a week ... best of luck to you or is that how your weight loss normally goes? If it does of my goodness I wish it were me :)

Sum good job on leaving the 150's behind and on the 100 lunges :high:
:woohoo: on your exercise yesterday, WOW! :) I wish I had known before last year about the Sprite also. I just told a lady at work last week and she was amazed at how her second day-till end of TOM was. She thanked me big time. :) I don't know at what age my cycle will end. Most of the women in my family had hysterectomies so they can't tell me. I can't wait. I am so sick of TOM :)

Thanks Carma, good job maintaining, thanks for the request ... now I have to go on MFP, LOL. I haven't logged my food on there in awhile and with this plan since it is all unprocessed foods, I don't know where to begin no package to help me :)

June what Moondance said :) And with me that's usually water retention. You said you feel bloated, just get your water in and watch it come out/off

My plan tomorrow (day7) calls for brown rice and fruit juices. Did I already tell you all that? I am not a juice person and I don't know about eating the rice. I think I am doing well without the starchy foods. And I don't want to start that temptation back up. I am trying to find some meals that I can fix to take to work that will be inline with what I have been eating this week minus all of the fruit.

Oh and for those of you that are familiar with the readings for diabetics. I took my fasting bs this morning and it was 183. Not great I know but it is not in the 200's were it has been. I'm gonna keep at it and seek all of the help and information I can get to get my life under control. :) I'll post my food for today later after I have dinner. ... just thinking I need to add a snack at some point because I eat breakfast between 7:30-8:30, lunch at 12:30 and dinner at 7. That's a stretch between lunch and dinner. Any suggestions on a snack that I can have in the truck to eat around 5:30-5:45. (these are my Monday - Friday hours) I have stuck with them this weekend, thank goodness :) I have to pat myself on the back as I say/type that :D

06-30-2013, 03:55 PM
I just got home from a long bike ride, which included a stop at Subway for lunch then A trek to a bakery for dessert. I was good and had turkey and avocado with lots of veggies on 9 grain bread at Subway and only 2 dark chocolate covered strawberries at the bakery! I'm thinking it was a wash with the bike ride! I am planning to walk and/or ride again this evening.

Sum: Yay for saying goodbye to the 150s! You are like Aspen--an exercise machine!

Carma: Good job on the early walk! I need to get my kids to clean their rooms too. Too often I use the closed door method of dealing with their rooms!

June: I'm sure it's just water and bloat. It will probably be gone next week.

Rennie: I wish I lost 2 pounds a week! I'm actually lucky to lose 1, but since I'm up from whee I was a couple of weeks ago and I've increased my exercise, I'm hoping fr a little whoosh this week. For a snack, what about some almonds and freeze-dried fruit? I've been addicted to freeze-dried mangos this week.

06-30-2013, 05:03 PM
Jennifer, I haven't seen a whoosh in forever and until I lose the first 15lbs I won't consider it weight but water. Though I love the look of that 8 on my scale :D I'm making a list of things to eat. I'm not a nut person though I did have a salad recently that had some kind of sweet brown nut pieces on it. I neglected to ask what kind (I was at a class) and forgot to ask when it was over. I was just ready to leave :D I have never had dried fruit of any kind. I have been afraid to try it and waste money :) My son said plantains would be good and I do like them, but when he made them they were fried so I don't think that is a good idea. I think it would make me want carbs. Thanks for the suggestions :)

I have decided that I will change my ticker on Tuesday's if the scale is still moving downward :)

06-30-2013, 05:35 PM
Jennifer, if I ate at Subway I'd gain weight/ retain water. Dang sodium gets me every time. Every. Time. I'm super sensitive.

Rennie, suggestion: Take measurements now so when/if scale stalls, you can still gauge progress.

Argh, hard to type on ipad. More later, ladies!

06-30-2013, 05:43 PM
LOVE2B Dried plaintains are great, but they are high in natural sugar and carbs..not sure if thats a good diet food. I have to force myself not to buy them when i see them at the store....

JENNIFER: that sounds like an absolutely lovely bike ride , lunch and sweet....good for you. I never knwo what to order when i go into subway with my kids so I wind up having nothing.

SUM: I see you love that broiled eggplant ...what are you putting on it to broil it? To answer your question i have not bought the car yet...i found one that i would like to buy but it is in another state...would have to pay for them to ship it here...the problem is i'm getting a certifed pre owned but im being picky about the color and the options. very aggravating indeed.

06-30-2013, 05:45 PM
2FC thanks I will definitely do that. But I should wait until morning when the daily food bloat is gone, huh? and same for me with lunch meet unless I find the Primrose low salt kind :)

Thanks Zumba :)

My kids have fixed just about everything you can think of since we have come home. Pepperoni pizza, Buffalo chicken pizza, tacos, baked beans w/ ground beef, green pepper, onion and brown sugar, now one is making an apple pie. It's crazy and then they are asking me what's for dinner ... Eat all of the stuff you have made :D

06-30-2013, 06:34 PM
i gained back the two lbs I lost last week. I am not surprised . I think I have just given up. Im thinking about trying IF and eating all my calories between a certian number of hours and keeping the calorie count low. Not sure if that will work..I experimented with that a few months ago for a few days and it worked, and it was actually kind of easy to do.....I wasnt always stopping to remember to eat....

took the kids for japanese today. had the low sodium soy sauce not sure if that will really make a difference. Part of me really doesn't care. I had a bad weekend and i've been pretty down...I know the kind of life I want to be living and i'm stuck in some wierd limbo stage...sorry to unload here. I know this is supposed to be about us losing weight...

OH well...tomorrow is another day. I have five classes this week.

06-30-2013, 06:36 PM
My goal is to be 142 by the end of next week!

06-30-2013, 08:27 PM
I've been in the 190's forever

today's weigh in 196.8 ... I'd like to be out of the 190's by 8/5 actually

~push myself to eat OP
~push myself to do some movement at least 30 minutes a day 6 days a week

New goal

~stay in the 180's not go back to the 190's
~I want to be 185 by the time my Mom, her husband and my daughter and her husband come on 7/20
~continue to eat OP
~push myself to do some type of movement at least 30 minutes a day 6 days a week

06-30-2013, 08:28 PM
My meals for the day

mustard and turnip greens
cucumber salad w/ Parmesan cheese and Greek vinaigrette

zucchini and yellow squash
cucumber salad w/ Parmesan cheese and Greek vinaigrette

apple baked with cinnamon

organic mixed half & half salad w/ Parmesan cheese and Greek vinaigrette
2 hard boiled eggs

I was supposed to eat beef but I truly had enough yesterday. I can't stomach it two days in a row. My calories are low coming in at 696. But I'm not hungry ... just eating my dinner because I am supposed to, so I guess it is ok. Water consumption so far has only been 84.5ozs

06-30-2013, 10:57 PM
My 84-year-old dad had a stroke this evening. My mom was taken to the hospital with him and I stayed back with my 14-year-old son. My son was afraid to go and was quite upset. I am a pacer normally but have spent the past couple hours really pacing. I finally got a hold of my mom. My dad is doing well right now. It did not affect is brain. I am very worried about him having another. I knew this day would be coming, is whole family died early, mainly from heart issues. His speech was so slurred and he could not move his left side of his body at all. My mom is 6 year younger, they married when she was 19 and he was 25. She has spent her whole entire adult life with him. I am worried for her. My mom sounded good on the phone and the nurses made sure I knew they were both being cared for. They are moving him from the ER to another part of the hospital.

I am going to stick with my healthy eating and try really hard to stay on my exercise routine. It might actually help with my stress and anxiety. I hope I will be able to get some sleep tonight. I need to remember to take care of myself because my son needs me.

06-30-2013, 11:43 PM
Aspen, glad to hear your Dad is doing ok. :) I'll add your family to my prayer list.

06-30-2013, 11:43 PM
My son is helping me try to stick to plan of 30 minutes of movement. Last night I did only 10 minutes of WATP and then he and I did 3 songs on Just Dance 3 so about another 12 minutes. Tonight we did 7 songs so about 28 minutes. I feel good. Hope it helps.

07-01-2013, 08:19 AM
Thank you, love!

It was a long night. I only got 2.5 to 3 hours of sleep. My mom came home to sleep. She seems to be holding up very well. I, of course, am worried about him, her, my son. I will need to keep reminding myself that I can not control what is happening and what will happen. I can control my health. And for all of them I must keep going.

I woke to the scale down to 152.4. I should have been overjoyed, it's just hard right now.

Going to try to keep myself in routine as much as I can. I am drinking my first 12 oz glass of water and then I will have breakfast and another 12 oz. I am not sure what breakfast is. I might do 2 waffles, one plain and one with peanut butter and fruit.

07-01-2013, 08:31 AM
quick post didn't stay in the 180's :( up .4 to 190.0 so typical of my first day of the month as always an up, smh. :)

Well have a great day

07-01-2013, 08:57 AM
Aspen:  I will keep your dad in my prayers. It's great that you guys caught it early. I am assuming they must have used a TPA agent. Which really do work wonders. The nurses will be watching him for 24 hrs. doing hourly checks if they did. Maybe when you get him home you can start doing yoga with him. It's supposed to be great for stroke victims. As far as you realizing that you can take care of your health that is huge. I had the same realization back when my Mom was first diagnosed with cancer. I might have been a tad obsessed with stuff but I found focusing on keeping a healthy me made for taking care of my Mom easier.
Love: :cp: On getting the exercise in. It's so hard to start. But once you start and get there you will be feeling so much better. I am on day 8 of exercise. Trying to make it to 100 days in a row. The American heart association recommends 5 days of 30 minutes a day exercise. I tell my patients to shoot for 7 days of exercise because if you shoot for 7 you will get at least 5. If you shoot for 5 you may only get 4. Shoot for 3 etc. I'm hoping to start having the family go for 30 minute walks after dinner this summer. As far as the later afternoon snack, do you have Nonni's brand of food where you live? If so there is a really tasty line they have called THINaddictives. It is 3 thin biscotti with fruit and nuts in it. 100calories/4gm fat/60mg sodium/13gm carbs with 1gm fiber 6gm sugar/protein 3gm. That's from the Banana Dark chocolate one's box. Which is probably the highest level of sugar due to the chocolate. Otherwise could you have some sort of protein shake like a glucerna which would be lower in sugar? As far as MFP goes you can still log food. There is pretty much every type of veg and fruit on there. Just make sure to look at the nutritional info because some people don't add the Vitamins and Iron on the post.

Zumba: :dust: You can do this. You will get those 2 lbs. down. I hope the IF works for you. You have so much going on right now and I will be sending out the positive vibes.

Jenn: That's was a good ride and good for you for going for the chocolate covered strawberries instead of a pastry.

Sum, Moon, June and 2FC:

07-01-2013, 09:01 AM
As for me I hit 214.6 :woohoo:That's 3 days earlier than my goal.:) Already went for a 70minute walk/run. 31minutes of that was the Couch25k workout. Did some lifting but think I need to get 8 or 9lb weights for me. Finding those 10's are hard for triceps and biceps so I really struggled to get 10 reps in and was only able to do 2 sets. Going to do some yoga later on today I think. I haven't been on the wii in a while it will enjoy yelling at me then.
Have a great day everyone.

07-01-2013, 09:05 AM
Aspen, my heart goes out to you, and your mom. My own dilemma seems trivial.

I weighed today and I am at 157.5 again today, like yesterday. This is astonishing to me because I weighed 151 unofficially on 6/22 and 153.5 when I weighed officially last Monday.

I am repeating 2FC's motto. I don't mind gaining weight as long as it is muscle. I don't mind gaining weight as long as it is muscle. I don't mind gaining weight as long as it is muscle.

07-01-2013, 09:36 AM
Good morning, ladies!

Aspen: I'll be hoping for a speedy recovery for your dad. My mom had a stroke about 4 years ago ( she was 79) and you'd never know it now! It's so hard though to watch our parents get older. Your family is in my thoughts.

Rennie: Great job on the exercise! Just Dance with DS sounds like a blast.

Carma: That Nonnie bar sounds yummy. I'll be checking out our local stores.

June: I am right there with you in the weight going up when it should be going down department. So frustrating, but we both know it can't truly w
Be weight weight (I hope that makes sense!)

Dang it, I was up two whole pounds this am!! since my calorie intake overall was about 1600 there is no way it's anything but water and salt bloat! In addition to Subway, I also ate baked chips. I was craving salty all day yesterday. I also got about an hours bike ride and 45 minute walk in. My muscles are tight, so I think my whole body is retaining water! I will drink a ton today and try to flush it away!

I'm starting to plan and book stuff for our vacation, which starts in 9 days! I reserved a 3.5 hour sea kayaking excursion in Portland, Maine that I cannot wait to go on. i am Trying to get in as many active activities as possible to counteract all the yummy food we are sure to eat.

07-01-2013, 10:16 AM
Aspen so sorry about what you are going through. I used to be a monitor r a board about strokes so unfortunately I know all too well about them.

07-01-2013, 10:21 AM
Hey all...I am so glad the weeknd was over. It dragged on and on and I ate and ate. Last night I had a craving for "something" but I wasn't sure what that "something" was so I was going through cabinets like a raccoon going through a garbage can....Scale is UP and I feel bloated and gross but that seems to be the norm as of late.

I teach five mornings a week now. Thank God for that because it forces me to get moving.

I am going to try and do the IF thing. I find when I don't eat for a long period of time I actually LOSE my appetite for a while. I go back to feeling like I did when I was a skinny person. Eating wasn't first and foremost on my mind all the time.

I guess I should get dressed and face the day. Its a brand new month, a brand new WEEK and a brand new DAY..Let's do this!!!

07-01-2013, 10:43 AM
Just a quick note to Zumba: Thanks for the morning laugh - I could picture you rifling the cabinets like a raccoon! Been there....

Off to lift weights! I love Mondays!

07-01-2013, 11:31 AM
Happy Monday...Happy July...and it's also National Blueberries Month as well as Second Half of The Year Day. Phew! :D

Weekend was ok eating-wise. I'm PMSing, which means craving chocolate like mad. Unfortunately, i gave in more than I should have. Couple that with a migraine this morning and July is not off to a great start. Fortunately it's a short work week--half-day Wednesday, then off until next Monday! Going to the mountains for the holiday weekend. We'll be very active, and just having fun, so I can't wait!

Aspen:  and prayers to you and your family! Taking care of yourself is a good thing right now. It will make you better able to help your parents.

Zumba: The raccoon visual made me smile too! Hang in there. Glad you're teaching so much! Good luck with the IF plan.

Jennifer: At least you know how to get the water weight off! Don't sweat it (or maybe you should...). Sea kayaking sounds like a BLAST!!

june: Stick with it! Don't let a number on the scale derail you. It'll come back off!

Carma: Girl, you're like the energizer bunny...you just keep going and going. Rock on!!

love2b150: How great to have such a supportive son! And a fun time together too!

2FatCats: Hi! Hope you're having a great day!

Sum: How is the lunge challenge coming? I think you've already conquered it, and we're only a few weeks into the challenge!

07-01-2013, 01:02 PM
Thank you all so very, very much for the hugs, positive thoughts, and prayers!! They are very appreciated.

07-01-2013, 01:13 PM
Just a quick check in before I read and catch up! Weekend went well, getting ready for the 4th, have been getting in planks, missed push ups yesterday only, so I'm ok with that. Have to say the plank is an amazing thing!

Best to all :sunny:

Aspen-so sorry to hear about your Dad, sounds like he is doing well under the circumstances, that was good to hear.

07-01-2013, 05:55 PM
Quick checkin Sorry to hear about your father, aspen. I hope he is improving with each day.

I did 90 min in the kayak today. I wore a heart monitor because I was curious about intensity. Not very intense at all, but still good anaerobic exercise. I was really hungry afterwards.

Food is only ok this trip. It's hard when it's out of your total control. But I think I'm doing alright. But the important thing is that I am mentally prepared to attack any gain once I get home, rather than saying forget it, and giving in to diet fatigue. That approach worked post-Patagonia, and I'm expecting it to work again. Returning home from trips has been my downfall in the past so I am trying to really work on this pattern.

07-01-2013, 07:50 PM
Oh, and I meant to tell you guys... (For those around during the winter...). Remember those size 12 hiking pants for my Patagonia trip? I zipped the legs off to make them capris for kayaking, and wore them today. So loose and baggy, hooray!!

07-01-2013, 08:23 PM
Aspen:  Sorry to hear about your Dad! Hopefully he will be on the road to full recovery in no time! Glad to hear that you are taking care of yourself, though.

Heidi: I remember the pants - from no way to a little tight to baggy! WooHoo! I went through my closet today - not much left in there that actually fits - unless the saggy drawer look is in. :D
But it's a good feeling - not like it was last year when nothing fit because it was too small! Great attitude about any away-from-home-possible-gains. You have to live your life, right?

Moondance & Sum:wave:

Junem Keep at it - it'll come off. Has it been overly hot there? That gets me if I don't drink extra extra water.

Carma You are definitely a bundle of energy! Do you keep it up by tossing and turning even when you sleep? :p

Kelijpa Thought of you today when I did push ups! Keep at it!

Rennie I can't imagine how hard it would be if I had a house full of kids making food. Congrats on staying strong! And to dancing - I wish I could. I can't even pretend I have any rhythm. It's sad. And I sing horribly. I embarrass my dogs with my caterwauling.:o

Jennifer It's the dang subway sodium. Maybe you can up your potassium consumption to combat the water retention? Watermelon is wonderful!

07-01-2013, 08:46 PM
Aspen, I hope you got some rest and things are a little better

Carma it is hard to start but thank goodness I did. I was actually about to call it a night when I realized I still had 45 minutes before I really needed to go to bed so I'm proud of me :D On the Nonni brands it looks like quite a few retailers carry the biscotti and the bites but not the ThinAddictives. So I'll check when I go to the store. Thanks for the suggestion :) Time to move your ticker :high: Nice job :)

June and Jennifer probably just fluid, it'll even out and go away soon

Jennifer it is a blast and since we can't find but one contoller it's even more fun for me. ;) I'm no dancer and the kids laugh when I try so without the controller I can't see how poorly I actually did and as long as I sweat I don't care that I can't do all of the moves  Have fun planning your vacation.

Zumba

2FC you are so focused :high: LOL I can keep a beat but I wouldn't call it dancing. I have found with doing the Just Dance thing that if I have to move my legs and my arms at the same time other than a jumping jack it just looks plain stupid  It does get hard with them wanting and preparing things, I'll be honest some days it just makes me mad  yesterday the smells of the food were making wanna puke :D

Moondance yes it is, I just love doing things with my kids :)

Keli

Heidi great NSV :high:

07-01-2013, 08:49 PM
Challenge wise:
Scale: 139.2
Lifted Weights: 968 kCal
Quick walk/run around small block since it rained: 80 kCal
Food (including 9pm snack) : 2105 kCal

Since the scale keeps going down I really need to eat more before I start to lose muscle mass. My measurements are going down but I still fear my body is using muscle to fuel itself instead of fat.
I am a wee bit apprehensive, too - I thought it would be easy to eat extra calories and intentionally gain weight (muscle). It's not. Not even a little bit. It goes against all my conditioning to try to gain weight. Logically I know gaining muscle won't make me 'fat'. It will actually make me smaller and firmer. But emotionally I panic a tiny bit at the thought.

07-01-2013, 08:49 PM
Today's meals

Vanilla yogurt
Low sodium V8

Turnip and mustard greens w/Balsalmic vinaigrette dressing
Cucumber w/ Greek vinaigrette dressing & Parmesan cheese

celery with 1 wedge of regular laughing cow and 1 garden vegetable laughing cow
2 boiled eggs

My calories are too low again but I don't know what to do. If I'm not hungry then what do I do? Do I make myself eat and then get sick? This has NEVER happened to me before. Is it the lack of starches?

07-01-2013, 09:59 PM
Wow, I wish my problem was I wasn't eating enough! Love2 be it takes your body longer to digest protein so you feel fuller. I don't believe in eating when you aren't hungry.

07-01-2013, 10:15 PM
Hi Love! I'm enjoying reading your posts, now I want to try the celery and laughing cow cheese, I haven't really had it since we pretty much stopped eating crackers...

2FC-thanks for thinking if me, I did my push ups and planks, those planks, wowed they make you feel strong and weak at the same time! Funny I was thinking of you when I attempted to do some squats tonight, I was trying to remember your post, all I could remember was stick your butt out like a baby or was it toddler...lol well I did 5 and told myself to re-read your note.

Zumba- I so admire your ability to keep at it when times are tough and to keep trying, you inspire me to do the same, I passed up on bagels today, soooo tempting, a woman at work brought them in for her last day, lucky lady retired, happy for her. I was so close to just getting one, almost habit, those dang carbs. We posted at the same time, I was reading some interesting articles on protein today.

Newleaf- congrats on the NSV! Nothing better than something loose that you couldn't get into, and on the attitude, that's what I'm trying to do, do the best I can when I can, not going back.

Rain, rain go away...
Best to all :sunny:

07-01-2013, 11:32 PM
Zumba but if I don't take in enough calories during the day won't it halt my weight loss?

Thanks Keli .. my post are pretty kookie when I don't read over them, lots of typos and missing words, :), I have the LC in the fridge (limited on what's avail right now :))and I really don't like celery because it's stringy but I wanted the cheese. :D I have some premium round saltines in the pantry and I really want to eat some but I know it will set me off

I added a piece of njoy life dark chocolate not sure why I just wanted it
Then my son and I did Just Dance, this time I started without him and he came downstairs and sat on the sofa 2FC and cracked up, he said, "what are you doing?" I said, " trying to do what they are doing!" he said, "I should call everybody down here to watch you" mean boy  I also did a mile and a half of WATP so let's see what tomorrow holds. I feel really bloatd for no apparent reason, hope it doesn't stick :crossed:

Love2 b..you would have to have nothing to eat for a full 48 hours before going into starvation mode. Intuitive eating is about listening to your body....it will tell you when you are hungry. When I started ignoring signals is when I developed a weight problem.

07-02-2013, 12:07 AM
I have two simple goals:

1. Successfully get through the low iodine diet and final thyroid cancer treatment at the end of the month, and

2. Maintain my weight - no gain, no loss, just maintain.

07-02-2013, 07:01 AM
Amazing how good things happen when one stay's OP :D.

I ate well, walked 4.7 miles, swam 45 minutes, and did my 100 lunges, which btw are getting easier to do; I am getting stronger :yay:. (I can't wait when I start my push up & plank challenge come next 40 something challenge ;)) Next week I am aiming to do my 100 lunges in 4 sets of 25 each.

Today's plan

1 ~ Hard boiled egg, Plain Greek Yogurt, Berries
S ~ Peanut butter and gluten free crackers
2 ~ Salad w/ veggies, 1/4c. feta cheese, 3 oz chicken
S ~ Gluten free pretzels and apple
3 ~ Meatballs, potatoes, broccoli and watermelon
S ~ Outshine frozen fruit bar

1,399 182 42 81 27 69

Calories Carbs Fat Protein Fiber Sugar

4.7 mile walk 9.4/110
weights 1/12
3.2 mile slow evening walk 12.2/110

Weight 149
Down 0.4

I have a starchy day planned ahead, we shall see how scale reacts to that. Sometimes I find it easier to lift when I eat more carbs. If I go with in with high protein, I am a bit lethargic. How many carbs do you get 2FC?

Apen I wish your dad a speedy recovery!

KittyKatFan I hope all goes well with your thyroid!!!

Heidi LOVE the NSV!! I remember those capris and how they got loose on thighs after your trip. -- I had one last night. My vanity sized 8's were sagging. They were soooo tight when I was in Finland in February that I had to wear spanx in order to make them fit, now they literally fall off :) Aaah, a great feeling.

07-02-2013, 08:32 AM
Good Morning ALL

I'm up .4 to 190.4. The 180's have left me behind. Eventhough the scale is having a fun time with the .4's my fbs is steadily going down and I hope I'm not saying that too prematurely. But it makes me feel like I'm doing something right :)

be back later

Have a great day ALL

07-02-2013, 08:40 AM
Thank you all so very much! Yesterday was a good day. They plan to move him from intensive care to the normal floor today. He has really impressed the doctors and nurses.

I slept very well last night. Woke to the scale dropping .2. Yay! 1.2 pounds from 10 pounds gone and 12.2 pounds from not being overweight. cb:

This morning I will have a veggie omelet and mixed berries for breakfast. I am in the process of drinking my first 12 oz. Yesterday I did not do as well as I should have on water. I only got in 56 oz. Need to keep a watch on that today.

07-02-2013, 10:39 AM
Argh, I'm super frustrated the scale isn't moving! I ate well yesterday, did push-ups and squats, and took an intense (legs and butt burning) hour long bike ride. I was hoping the scale would begin to reflect my level of recommitment after my overindulgence week. I know I just have to be patient and it will come off. On the plus side the muscles in my legs and bum are truly starting to feel defined (I just need to lose the layer of fat on top).
*whine over*

To those scale-frustrated folks: It's time to drag out my favorite scale- related quote:

ďGet Off The Scale!

You are beautiful. Your beauty, just like your capacity for life, happiness, and success, is immeasurable. Day after day, countless people across the globe get on a scale in search of validation of beauty and social acceptance.

Get off the scale! I have yet to see a scale that can tell you how enchanting your eyes are. I have yet to see a scale that can show you how wonderful your hair looks when the sun shines its glorious rays on it. I have yet to see a scale that can thank you for your compassion, sense of humor, and contagious smile. Get off the scale because I have yet to see one that can admire you for your perseverance when challenged in life.

Itís true, the scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. Thatís it. It cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, life force, possibility, strength, or love. Donít give the scale more power than it has earned. Take note of the number, then get off the scale and live your life. You are beautiful!Ē

― Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

Save yourself the current/future headaches! Measure, measure, measure! The smaller/lighter you get, the less weight it takes to make a difference. Sometimes no weight and your measurements change!

07-02-2013, 02:37 PM
Sum Carbs? My daily average for the last week: 240. Protein: 130 Fat:60. That's an avg. of 2020 calories (one day was only 1400-wasn't hungry). And I lost 1.8lbs last week, too.
Every day is a starchy one for me, I guess! I eat protein/carb/fat at every sitting, though. It helps me to digest slower and feel fuller longer. Not that I go that long between feedings - I eat every 2-3 hours. Oddly enough, I never crave carbs or protein - always fat. Without it I get cranky and irritable. And I know some people may react with shock and horror - but I eat my final snack 30 minutes or so before bed. Otherwise I would wake up hungry in the morning and all bets are off, then!

07-02-2013, 03:15 PM
2FatCats: Thanks for the scale reminder. I know you are right, but I am so obsessed with that huge, lit number every morning! I need to concentrate on my fitness and how much better I feel! Also I have lost inches off my thighs, hips, and waist in the last 2 weeks, which I do know is much more important!

07-02-2013, 07:01 PM
I felt strong today whilst lifting. If you average 240 carbs per day 2FC and still are dropping weight, maybe I should try to aim for 150-170 per day? I felt great today, energetic. Maybe low carbing is not the way to go, atleast for me because I am so active. I just don't want to burn out. -- Finding the right balance is hard. Too many opinions out there, too many choices.

I went to see a GF today who has not seen me in 3 months and she was praising me how good I looked :) It is nice to get the compliments of my hard work. I know some people hate the attention, but what comes to me, I love it. :D I am working my tail off, and people not saying anything would crush me.

I am comfortably wearing all my 8's; I even managed to wear a size six capris from WHBM  -- 8's fit great but another 7 pounds and these will be history and I have nothing but a few pairs of jeans in that size....:yikes: I am cleaning out my closet and 10's are done...so many beautiful things, I don't know what to do with them...

07-02-2013, 07:23 PM
Happy Tuesday! :D It's also National Ice Cream Month

TOM-TOM-TOM. That sums it up for the day. :p

Jennifer: Find the successes that will keep you going. You really are doing so well! And read 2FC's post again.

Sum: I foresee a new wardrobe on the horizon... How great of your friend to compliment you.

Aspen13: How's your dad today?

love2b150: Sounds to me like you're getting it done!

KittyKatFan: Hi!

Zumba: When is your first day of IE?

kelijpa: Do you shake too when doing the planks? By the fourth time I'm vibrating all over. But you're right, it does feel good!

Hi to anyone else I missed!

07-02-2013, 08:59 PM
KittyKatFan-Hi, good to see you here, wishing you well with your recovery!

Moondance-Yes! :D I do shake, it is a good feeling, especially when I'm laying on the floor after the 3rd one, I only do 3, 30 seconds each for now, feeling stronger everyday!

2FC-thanks for the reminder, I've been telling myself that same thing, I weigh everyday, but I'm not getting cranked up about the fluctuations, I try to compare week to week, like Wednesday compared to last Wednesday, not this Tuesday, if I compare at all, I know where I'm at and where I should be, it's just a habit to weigh now, as long as it's not becoming an unhealthy habit.

Sum-I wish we lived closer...lol...I could use the 10s, although my closet is still too full, I really need to get rid of some more clothes, I was telling myself today someone else could use them, like you said such nice things, but if I'm not using them I'm going to let them go to a new home...

Jennifer-you're doing great, once again I wish I had taken measurements, I can tell by my pants, they're getting looser instead of snugger so I know I'm doing something right, same with the drape of my shirts, I can't not weigh in the a.m. it's such a habit...

pretty good day today, I had soup and salad for lunch, salad w/grilled chicken for dinner, this morning I had two eggs scrambled with the leftover roasted veggies from last night, that was dang good, the eggs left me feeling fuller longer in the morning, too, so that was a plus.

hope all are doing well
best to all :sunny:

07-02-2013, 09:01 PM
sum, take everything that doesn't fit you and donate to charity. As nice as the clothes may be, you don't want to fit into them again... Congrats on all your loss!

07-02-2013, 09:06 PM
Got a headache - so just a quick post for Sum- I only weigh about 10lbs less than you and I can eat like a horse. I don't know your bf so even if that differs - it can't be by much. I lift heavy but you walk a lot more - so probably we even out in calories burned. I bet you could eat more and be fine. Try it - just slowly add 150 calories every 3-4 days and see what happens! I was super shocked that I could eat so much and still lose/maintain.

07-02-2013, 09:21 PM
Apsen glad to hear your Dad is improving :) Happy to hear you slept well and good job on the .2 down :) How many carbs are in your veggie omelet? That sounds so good  I may treat myself and make one this long weekend :D

Jennifer, LOL to whine over :D

2FC thanks for sharing "Get Off The Scale" :)

Sum that's great :bravo: to on the smaller sizes. :) and I am with you, when I loss 30lbs I loved the compliments. My Pastor's wife complimented me I thought that was just great. Then I gained it all back. My big head on my smaller body got the best of me :dizzy:

Thanks Moondance I am so trying to keep this going. :) 3FC is how I did it before. I lived on here but I wasn't working so I had no excuse at all not to exercise. The support here is so great and I am so glad to continue to meet people here that have my back through it all. :) You all are the greatest

My meals today

vanilla yogurt

cabbage soup
sliced apples
pink grapefruit

turnip and mustard greens
tilapia baked

I just realized that I have not been calculating my water correctly. I have a 32oz cup that I fill before I go to work, then I fill it while at work sometimes twice if it's hot and then again when I get home. Plus I will drink two bottles of water while doing whatever exercise I decide to do (these last two days) so I am definitely getting my water in .... one thing to check off. My calories are still low but I'm gonna go with what Zumba said and allow my body to talk to me. I'm content and I am not going to eat anything else.

My son just fixed a pan of corn bread (smells so good) and he and my other son already told me I can't have any :) and then he making mac n cheese. I don't care for their version of mac n cheese they make it from the box and add cheese. It's good to the kids but my husband and I like the one I make for family gatherings from scratch, so no temptation there :)

Well gonna go walk with Leslie before I talk myself out of it. I'm tired so I'll probably on do a mile but that's better than no mile, huh?

07-02-2013, 10:02 PM
Love- I'm with you on the homemade Mac and cheese, it's good that you hold out for the really good stuff, that makes it even better, just having some once in awhile, that's why I only bake cookies at Xmas time, I have my treat and then know I'm going to have that to look forward to.

On a positive note I used my phone to time my planks instead of just counting and it turns out I'm doing 45-50 seconds counting to 30 so that made me feel great!

Best to all :sunny:

07-02-2013, 10:04 PM
I did 2 miles with Leslie 30 minutes my Nike+ says I burned 293 calories. I can't do a lot of knee lifts yet so I walk through them. Maybe next week I will be able to do everything with her. :)

Keli, I am so glad that most of the things that I like no one in here can cook them like me. I don't mind some of the things they make but for the most part I can do without. :) It's amazing what these phones can do :) Great job :high:

Oh since my weigh in today was 190.4 I guess I can drop my ticker 1lb

07-03-2013, 12:26 AM
Ugh I need to be up for 4 in the morning. So I messed up on the alarm this morning and didn't set it so I missed walking with my neighbor. I then also couldn't walk as I needed to rush to see my sister who was leaving for Tennessee. Did some things in my Mom's house then rushed DD off to the dentist to have a stubborn baby tooth pulled. Then to the stores to pick up a few things for mini vacation to cape cod this weekend. Gigantic boobs would not allow me to get smaller than a 20 bathing suit top. :( However, I was able to get a size 16-18 bottoms :) Worked at my Mom's for several more hours and finally got a walk in at 9:45 at night. Only a half an hour.
Sum: Wish I lived closer, that is my eventual goal is to be a size 10. If you want to take some pictures of them you could sell them on EBAY and then fund your next wardrobe. Charity is nice and all but buying new clothes sizes gets expensive. I am trying to make it work with dresses that I can wear longer. Then I buy just a couple of things in the next size down. Tops seem to just continue to fit. Bottoms are getting smaller. If I don't get smaller by my goal weight in the boob department I might have to seriously consider getting a breast reduction.
2FC: Loved the post on the scale. I need to measure.
Luv: Glad your sticking with the exercise. I am trying really hard to get to 100 days in a row.
Kellipa: strong work with the planks.
Aspen: Glad your dad is doing better. Congrats on the weight-loss in the face of adversity.
Jen, Heidi, Moon and Zoomba: Hi
KittyKat: wishing you strength during your treatment.

07-03-2013, 09:07 AM
love: I eat the Schwan's veggie omelets. Carbs are 6 g. Here is the link to the nutritional facts. http://www.schwans.com/products/productDetail.aspx?id=62124&c1=9407&c2=11474

My dad is doing much better. He even took a couple walks in the hallway yesterday...one without a walker. I am thinking they might send him home in the next couple days. Get him out before the weekend rush. Hospitals are always rushing people out.

I weighed in at 151.8 today. :cb: Only .8 away from 10 lbs gone! And so, so close to those 140s. Hopefully, maybe, next week I will be in those 140s.

I am starving this morning. Not sure why. Just finished my first 12 oz and will go make breakfast as soon as I am done with this post. Today I am having two waffles, one plain and one with peanut butter, and half a banana.

This week I am noticing the changes in my arms. When I grab my wrist I can touch my thumb and middle finger like I could decades ago. My elbows and shoulders feel all boney. lol

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

07-03-2013, 09:35 AM
Hi everybody

I've caught up on everyone's posts. I'm really happy at everyone's progress but it makes me feel bad because Im making very little progress. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is, if i want something so badly why can't i make it happen??? Making a doctor appt soon to just check up on things and see if maybe it is a thyroid issue.

I took on another job, i am now going to be teaching zumba six times a week..HOLY COW...if that doesn't help with weight loss Im quitting and getting a desk job and eating cheetohs all day.

I made homemade mac and cheese last night , first time in a long time and I enjoyed it very much. I didn't feel guilty because i ate well the whole day.

Off to the store today to buy more greek yogurt. I'm stocked up on veggies just need some more fruit.

My friend is dating some rich dude with a yacht and she invited me to spend fourth of july with them on the boat. Not sure what we will be eating tomorrow but Im going to try and keep that and the alcohol consumption in check. I don't have any bikinis that fit anymore so I think I"ll be wearing a sundress and change into shorts and a t shirt if I get too hot ......

SUM I will take those beautiful clothes darling.....send them to NY !

I had better get ready to shake my money maker...more later darlings...

07-03-2013, 10:00 AM
Hello and Good Morning to all!

Aspen Glad your dad is doing better! And double yay on the scale kindness! 10lbs almost gone FOREVER!

Carma Ugh @ 0400. With all of our various clothing extras - we could probably open our own 3FC store!

Love Good job on going the extra mile. Literally.:D

kelijpa In the NRoL series Lou says that if you can do 30 seconds of a plank, move up to a more challenging version. Like a side plank! Or elevate your feet on a step- and then pick your foot up. OR - side plank but bend your bottom leg at the knee and keep it tucked. Or - in a side plank lift top leg so legs look like scissors. Or - elevate your feet, then pick one foot up and opposite hand out. That's a toughie! I have more...;)

KittyKatFanHi! Good goals - sometimes holding steady is the hardest thing!

We had Chinese food last night. Yep - the sodium you-know-who ate Chinese. I felt dirty and a little bit naughty.
To be fair, I only ate the chicken and broccoli. No rice. And I dabbed each bite off on napkins to soak up the sauce. I used a lot of napkins.... I also drank water. I'm just not cost effective at a buffet. My hubs made up for it, though. Rice, sesame chicken, eggrolls, wontons, sushi rolls - you name it - if it was beige or deep fried - he ate it. So I guess we broke even $. I was still under my cals for the day so I ate ice cream before bed last night. Surprisingly - or not so - hubs was up 2lbs this am. Me? No gains. I confess I did gloat a bit. :smug:
The girls have a puppy play date this afternoon and if it doesn't rain, another 3.5 mile walk. Yesterday we walked then I took them to the river and let them swim. They are so funny - the romp and splash like kids. And then they try and shake off the water while still standing in the river up to their bellies. Of course that means a bath when we get home. I love my girls but the smell of wet dogs is unacceptable.

Time to lift weights! Hope everyone has an OP day!

07-03-2013, 12:09 PM
2FC-ack!! after I can do 5 at 30 I'll try some of your harder ones!

07-03-2013, 12:14 PM
:jig: okay, here goes. Start off at 230 lbs. Goal to friendship day? 5 weeks at 1.5 lbs a week...7.5 lbs is my goal. :dizzy: with fear, but ready for the plunge.

07-03-2013, 12:39 PM
can someone start an ab squat challenge thread here for over forty? That will hlep me keep up with how many we aer supposed to do.

07-03-2013, 01:03 PM
Happy Wednesday! :D It's also Compliment Your Mirror Day

Yesterday, I knew I was going to be out all day, so I packed all my food--breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks...and them promptly left all but lunch on the counter. :( I did ok with cafeteria choices though, and DD#2 brought dinner to eat on the way to rehearsal, so it wasn't too bad. I've really come to rely on my own food while at work, so having to go unexpectedly to the cafeteria wasn't fun.

Good news to report...it's looking like it's been the meds holding me back all these months. Scale said 181 this morning. That's down 2 pounds in 2 weeks! :carrot:

The family is headed to Steamboat Springs for the holiday weekend! I love this mountain town so much. Last summer, a couple of drunk ranch hands rode their horses into a bar and ordered beers. Too funny!

2FC: I don't blame you for gloating just a little. Hey, we get our satisfaction where we can, right?

Zumba: You are a dancing maniac! Have fun on the yacht!

Aspen: So glad to hear your dad is doing better! Oooh...a NSV...smaller, toner arms.

Carma: You're a busy girl! Yea on the smaller bottoms. Hope the girls start shrinking too!

love2b150: Woohoo...drop that ticker! And yes, this is a GREAT group of people...so supportive, positive, motivating and inspirational! I really miss it when I can't check-in!

kelijpa: I was counting while doing planks too. Then it dawned on me my iPod has a stop watch. While I wasn't going as long as you, I was going longer than I was counting. You're right...it does make you feel good!

Newleaf, Guac, Junem, Sum, Jennifer (and anyone else I missed): HI! Hope you're having a great, on-plan day!!

07-03-2013, 01:05 PM
Okee dokee...I just realized that I am actually doing 200 lunges. 100 with each leg. :dancer: My DH was impressed.
I went nuts with potatoes last night :nono: I could not stop eating potatoes and gravy; I felt so guilty afterwards and this morning really loathed myself at weigh-in time. So super clean eating for me today. -- We are going to go and see fireworks tonight with some friends, and that means an amble amount of snacks :( I must control myself. I am stopping at a local farmers market and hoping to find some strawberries to snack on. I may even cut up a watermelon because that always keeps me happy and satisfied.

I skipped bfast because I felt still full after last night's dinner. I may turn today into a fast day and skip lunch as well, and eat a sensible dinner.

Zumba I wish you lived close by, we would have an awesome closet between the two of us :D Imagine the exchanges going on!! -- I made my "famous" baked mac'n'cheese to a friend for her dinner. She had surgery on her ankle and is completely bed ridden. My family went...aaah, and WE don't get any!!?? LOL.

07-03-2013, 05:12 PM
Carma oh my goodness busy day yesterday, at least you got to do some exercise and with all that you did I'm sure you burned some calories  Thanks Carma regarding the exercise, I need to get to a week LOL, so you are doing great :high:

Thanks Aspen for the link :). Blessings to your Dad, glad he's doing well. I'm happy for him and your family :) :high: on almost 10lbs gone, You go girl :high: I have always had skinny wrist and weird looking small shins. I can't wait to call the other parts of me boney some day :D

Zumba :congrat: on the new job :high: LOL on the cheetos comment :) Have fun tomorrow :) I can set up the thread but I won't be using it :D

Thanks 2FC, I felt good after the first one and she kept saying how easy it was so I figured, let's give it a shot :) LOL on the gloating :) I hope didn't rain you got to enjoy a day out witht the girls :)

mandapanda :welcome: stick around, search the forums and stick with us, you'll do fine :)

Moondance great job on the 2lbs down :high: It makes me mad when I forget my food. I know I won't do well without it :) LOL I dropped my ticker down a pound and it is truly on point today 190.6 up .2, urgh! 2FC I know but I can't help it :D

Sum that's great :high: Macaroni and cheese is the dish of the week :D

A few NSV's for me with food ...

My son made tilapia last night and boy was it good. He made 3 for me. I ate one and said I would have one today and one tomorrow. I almost ate a second one but I asked myself do I really want it because I'm hungry or because it is there and I wanted it because it taste really good and it was there. (didn't eat it) I was cleaning the kitchen last night and the corn bread was sitting there and I started to have a corner of that, but then I covered it and left the kitchen. The kids had potato salad for lunch today and I absolutely love potato salad. I started to eat just a small Dixie cup but I said nope, I brought my lunch and that salad isn't included. (didn't eat it) I'm doing pretty well with telling myself NO so far :yay:

My eating today has been pretty on point ...

light peach yogurt
2 apples

cabbage soup
salmon patty (only ate maybe half) it wasn't good

Dinner <--- idk, has to be before church or it will be too late to eat when we return. Zumba taking your advice if I'm not hungry then I won't eat ;)

07-03-2013, 05:39 PM
mandapanda: Welcome to 3FC! Looking forward to getting to know you better. You will really enjoy these forums, lots of great information and support.

love: I made tilapia last night. My son and I did not like it the first time we tried it. It is a bit sweeter then some fish and we were not expecting that taste. We have since started really liking it.

07-03-2013, 08:18 PM
ASPen Tilapia is a great fish...the only thing is it is hard to find wild talapia..i try and keep away from farm rasied fish.

SUM I know if we lived close to one another we would be the best of friends..and we would go shopping a lot together ...in eachothers closets..LOL.

07-03-2013, 08:29 PM
Hello all,

class went well this morning, students really like me and it is so nice to hear that I still got it, extra weight and all. :ink: I have a hard time looking at myself in the mirror so I focus on the students and we truly have a ball.....

I got more news about tomorrow's boating experience, first we are going to a place to see a band play on the beach and then we will hang out on the boat and have dinner on the boat, I believe the menu is seafood..which is good news. :smug: Makes it easy to make good choices. Alcohol consumption will be kept to a minimum because of extra calories and also because i have to be up early to teach the next morning :faint::tired:

today I did a fast of sorts...didn't eat anything until late afternoon when i had a protein shake..then had my dinner. I actually didn't feel hungy, the more time that passed without food the less i thought about it.....strange huh? You would think i would be ravenous . I drank water so that I woudn't get dehydrated...

07-03-2013, 09:27 PM
Zumba Glad you enjoyed the class and sounds like you'll enjoy the boat trip, too!

Moondance Good that you preplanned and took most of it! Maybe you really didn't want to eat the lunch? I get nervous/anxious if I don't know what and how the food was prepared. I look up menus before we go out. Hmm. Just thought of it - I pack my husband's lunch and snacks the night prior. Every day. However, half the time he forgets it. Or maybe he doesn't want to eat the stuff I pack?? Hmmm.

Mandapanda Welcome and jump in! We're a chatty bunch it seems!

Sum Twice the lunges! Your DH is right - that is impressive! Keep it up and you'll be giving those 8s away in no time!!

:carrot: to all you seafood eaters. Yuck. Double yuck. Can't do it. And I grew up in South Texas where it's everywhere! *shudders*

Rennie Way to go on resisiting the snackies. I can't imagine how many calories I used to rack up in 'bites', 'spoon and finger licks' and 'sample tasting'. I still have to talk myself down from the overeaters ledge every now and again. But at least we are learning to listen, right?

To all/any I missed::wave:

So it didn't rain and the girls loved their puppy play date. Yay!
Dedicated Exercise for the day:
Lifted weights= 780 kCal
Dog walk = 320 kCal
Hubby walk= walked to park trails: 240, then we ran through trails for 15 minutes = 200, walked back home = 210 Oh - and it was 84 degrees. HOT and SWEATY!
TOTAL: 1750
Consumed: 1804 kCal, P:110 C: 248 F:56 I may have a late snack - fage or something with protein.

One minor hitch in my day: While running through forested area at the park there was a tree down across the trail. I was in the lead, hubs following close. I thought I'd jump it, then decided not to, then kinda did but stopped and hurdled over it. Almost. Slammed my pinky toe into the trunk and stubbed the heck out of it. So that made me stumble and I drug the other leg across a broken branch. Sliced my upper inside thigh. What a mess. I kept running and by the time I broke out of the trees back into the park - I was totally wet from sweating which then caused the sunscreen to run in milky white rivulets down my face, back, arms and legs. There was blood running down my leg and I had a slight limp. And still had to walk 1.5 miles home. I took a bird bath in the water fountain while people looked at me like I was crazy. Not my most glamorous moment, I'd say. Hopefully the walk back didn't sunburn me. *sigh*. But it was fun! So much the hubs wants to get up in the am and do it again. Umm.... My pinky toe is black and is the size of my big toe. And the nail - hanging on just barely. Think I'm calling it an early night before I do any more damage to myself. That's what I get for gloating.;)

Aspen I started buying tilapia a few years back. We use to only buy whiting but it would actually make me have a fishy smell and I hadn't noticed until my cousin and his friend came over and she refused to eat it and told me why. I had never paid attention to the after effects of it. We use a Chef Paul's seafood seasoning on it with onion, butter and a little milk. Taste great! Glad you've grown to like it :)

Thanks 2FC, I sure am trying. :) and yes we are learning, it's a slow process but I'm trying to get it ;) Ouch your toe must be throbbing like crazy. Can you get your sneaker on to even go out tomorrow? Hope you're ok, and your thigh, my goodness be careful Lady :) On the note of seafood, I love it (I so miss being up north and being able to go to the wharf to buy crabs) Love myself some blue crab :)

I don't feel like doing anything tonight and since I didn't have dinner I really don't feel that I have to. My plan was to make Wednesday my only off day anyway. So back to it tomorrow. I need to find an outdoor track and then I can really get the ball rolling :) Even though it was a short work day, I just feel drained. I think I'm gonna finish my tea and call it a night. At least that's the plan, nothing else to eat for sure :)
