Anyone up for an exercise challenge? Someone else started a thread like this for Jan, Feb, and March and it helped me stay on track. I'm hoping others will join. Use the template below and then you can just return and edit daily to log your exercise. That way new posts are reserved for comments and conversation and not daily updates- it keeps the thread from getting to big too quickly.

I agree that 90 days is a long time for this challenge. I started to slack off towards the end the last time but the challenge kept me motivated. I'm hoping to have the same impact again :carrot:

NROLFW was awesome last night, I'm glad I gave it my all. However I am sore today. It's mainly in my upper body which is good as I'm planning on going for a run tonight.

I thought I would be able to run last night but I was in too much pain :( I think I'll try a Nike Training Club workout for arms and abs today so I'll at least move a little! And if I'm not in pain I'll try to go running tonight.

Changergirl - Yes, so odd how posting it makes me feel more accountable to keep up. I also like watching the template fill up. :D Why did I never think to make one of my own to use? Such great ideas here.

I see you're in South Korea. Are you an English teacher?

Hmm after looking at everone elses exercises compaired to what I will be doing I am not sure mine will seem like work. Mine goes slow which I need but you guys are all doing so much! Good for you guys thats awesome. I hope I can get to where you all are. I dont have much oomph so someone please lemme know if my light stuff is okay for this challenge. It builds up to more but the first month is slow... :/

Hi, Pixie! You are most certainly very welcome here! I love the freedom we all have to do whatever routine works best for us at the moment, coupled with the camaraderie from all having the same 90 day commitment. :cheer:

Besides, crunches and jumping jacks are pretty killer. One of the exercise dvds I use has a jumping jack section and I always whimper during that part (and occasionally curse).

The 4 years have been a long time in some respects and have flown by in others. I thought I was heading home for good after 2 years but ended up back here because I wasn't sure what I'd do at home. Turned out for the best as a friend of mine and I started dating and we're now engaged! Because I'm Canadian and he's American it's easiest for us to stay here and save money than figure out immigration issues!!!!

I actually like Korean food for the most part. However the spice, red pepper, is in absolutely everything so it does get boring after awhile. I also eat lunch at school so it's A LOT of white rice which is slowing down my weight loss progress as I get closer to the end. I'm thinking of opting out the lunches and bringing a lower calorie option in for myself. I know a lot of people don't like the food but most of those people are pretty closed minded, which is weird since they moved to a different country with different cultural norms, so some of the stranger foods may weird them out. Like my lunch today consisted of blood sausage which I know many people won't try but I just don't think about what's actually in it!!!

Congrats on the engagement!

Do you like kimchi? I've never had it, but when I was considering moving there I watched a lot of youtube vids from teachers there. So many mentioned it that I started craving it. I crave foods I've never even had which must be a sign of a too active imagination.

I absolutely love that I have this place to come to so I can track my exercise, it really motivates me on those days that I don't want to go to the gym. And I need to go to the gym when I'm scheduled to as it's closed Sunday and it seems as though there's at least 1 other day during the week I have something else to do, like today I have training after work until 8 so no gym. I love the accountability.

bunnabear - Which level workout was your favorite?

I had a love/hate relationship with them all :dizzy:

I have to say though that I felt the most accomplished on level 2. I believe that's the one with the full fledged "Rocky-style" sit-ups as Jillian calls them. The first time I did them I struggled but by the last day of that level I was cranking those things out and it felt awesome!

Oh god, I'm kinda scared! My abs, along with my triceps, are my weakest areas. Hopefully by the time I'm done with Level 1, I'll be able to handle Rocky sit ups. I'll probably go delirious and start crying out to Adrian for help.

Which Jillian dvd has given you your favorite results?

It's so crazy to me how just a few minutes of ab work can be so effective. Since starting 30DS, my belly bubble has gone almost flat. I don't think I've lost much weight since starting (I'd guess half a pound), but my clothes feel much more comfortable. Regain tightness sucks. :(

I got the most out of 30 DS in terms of results (lost inches and weight). I was really dedicated and upped my weight every 2 days on each cycle. I was also VERY strict with my diet at that time, logging every morsel. I wasn't as dedicated when I did RI30 (due to some very long work days during that time) but I did like it a lot and it is very similar to 30DS. I also have No More Trouble Zones and Burn Fat Boost Metabolism and I like them, just not as much as the other 2.

Wow, well done with the weight increases! That will not be me. The line I feel is aimed most at me is when Jillian says, "If you feel like you're gonna die, follow Anita." :D

I'm considering getting more strict with my calories. In the past, I was fine with losing really slowly so kept them relatively high. But I'm starting to feel uncharacteristically impatient, probably because I'm shedding regain weight. I'm sick of not having comfy access to all my clothes.

I have been very lazy about my exercise over the last few days in terms of weight lifting but I plan to get back to it today. Long workdays always get me so off track. I never realized how much pms screws up my weight loss efforts.

For the past week, I've been crampy, headachey, exhausted, and constantly hungry. According to the scale, I'm up 2 pounds (in 1 week!). I always go up right before my period, and then it falls off after. But still, I wanna be losing not just maintaining.

Guess I better get more strict with my eating cuz at this rate it'll take me 6 months to get back to my goal weight. "Ain't nobody got time for that." ;)

So I think I have to buy a new scale. The doctors showed a 10 lb weight loss but my scale at home never changes at all. Not even by one pound. Its a digital scale and it was given to me by a friend who had to stop using it cause she weighed more then it went up to. Sooooo should I buy a new one. Or think that my doctors scale isnt correct. I saw him 3 weeks almost a month before the last time I saw him and the weight was less....Im so confused now

crispin

pixie - Then you had 25 days on. You rock! :D

I don't expect perfection or even want it. Personally, I'd like to exercise 6 days a week. That's my ideal. But I'm gonna be completely forgiving when I take off days bc I'm sick. If I miss for other reasons, I'm gonna track them so I can see if there's a way I can prevent those reasons from deterring me in the future.

Whatever we do, as long as we're making progress, I consider us successful at the challenge. It's the big picture that matters most.

Seoul was great. Did a lot of shopping which was the goal for the trip. My fiance and I wanted to get uniquely Korean gifts for our bridal party so all my girls will be getting awesome tea sets!!! Let's just hope they survive the plane ride home.

I was completely off plan food wise but that was my goal going into the weekend. I've been gaining and losing the same 2 pounds since the beginning of May so I saw this weekend as a 'reset' for my metabolism. I had delicious Indian, Russian and typical American cuisine. I was actually disappointed my stomach couldn't handle any more. I felt quite sick after the Indian and American just because of the massive portion sizes. I clearly had gained weight over the weekend but I'm already back down to my average over the last two months so here's hoping the weekend worked and the trend down continues!!

Hello everyone, I've been absent from the internet for a while. I also took a week off from any exercise as I was having some issues and felt I needed rest. My weight has crept up a couple of pounds so now that I'm feeling able to exercise I'm getting serious again. I restarted 30 Day Shred. I won't do it 6 days a week like I did the first time but plan to do it at least 3 days/week along with other activities. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to do all of the exercises in Level 1 with 8 lb weights. That felt like a small victory since I was feeling a little down on myself for my time off.

Maybe there's just something about July that makes exercise less appealing?

I realize for me it's because my routine changed. I had been craaaazy busy for...oh, years. But I've had way more free time the past 3 weeks. Routine changes always seem to result in me becoming a sloth. Too bad I didn't get an uncontrollable urge to fill my free time with ab exercises (that urge would surely be a sign of the apocalypse).

You may not be exactly where you want to be for your trip home, but I bet you've made amazing progress! The winery bike tour sounds like so much fun. If the bike riding doesn't go so well, you could always blame it on the booze. :D

Ah, thanks bunnabear. I was so mad at myself. I was even tempted to fake some entries  but then I would've just been even more mad at myself for being so shady.

I think I should change my goal. I wanted to exercise 6 days a week, but I that's just not something I can sustain long-term. I think I'll drop my goal to 5.

This challenge is a great learning experience. On my own, right around now I'd probably just say, "screw it" and get super sporadic with exercise. Yes, it's finally done! :D

I found this a helpful challenge. I learned about what works for me and finally got consistent with exercise again. :)

Comparing the beginning with the end...
Height: Very short. :D
Starting weight: 113
Goal weight: 107

I'm still very short. ;) My weight is 111. I was 110 a couple weeks ago, but I bounced back up.

I'm still striving for 105-109. That's the weight I was for a few years, so it's at that weight that my clothes fit most comfortably.

I think I'll be able to lose more if I keep my average daily calories at 1400. It took some time to figure that out because I used to lose at a much higher level, but that's because I had a crazy active job.

Goal fitness:
~Behavior: 6 days a week of exercise. NEW goal 7-23 after getting real with myself  : exercise at least 5 days/wk.

5 days a week is working out really well. I'm going to stick with this.

~Endurance: run continuously for 30 minutes

Done! :carrot: I'm thrilled about this because I've never ever been able to do this before. I plan to register for a race in the fall to keep me focused on building up my distance.

~Strength: complete the abs workout on my Brazil Butt Lift dvd (can only last 2 minutes now!)

This I haven't even tried once during this challenge. So I don't know how long I could last. I have been doing more ab exercises though and definitely feel stronger.

All in all - this challenge got me back on track and gave me important info about myself. I'd definitely do another one.
