Earlier this week alizarin posted that she met her goal of exercising for 100 days in a row! I was so thoroughly impressed with her accomplishment (mostly because I can't seem to string together more than 3-days in a row of exercise) that I wanted to challenge myself.

Maybe some of us will meet our 100-days of exercise on September 8 (100 days from today), and maybe it will take some of us until next June 1 to reach 100 days of exercise... The point is to support each other as we challenge ourselves to exercise!

Let me include myself in the challenge with a small story. Yesterday I went and got fitted for a Bridesmaids dress for a wedding I am in this September. I had originally wanted to fit into a size 16, but ended up fitting into a 18w. Slight bummer, but down from a 24w. On my way home I was thinking "tomorrow is June 1st, stop making excuses and move your A$$." So. I am. Plus, I am participating in the July 4th challenge and you, SuperHeroTeacher have been kicking mayja butt's... Super Hero is right.

Long Story Short. I'm in.

Day 3: 2.5 mile walk. Once during my lunch hour and another after work.
Day 4: 1.8 mile jog. 5 sets of quick 18 stairs.

You are so sweet smashlers I'm glad you've joined the challenge. I do awesome in all the weight loss challenges (thank you Medifast), but I aways seem to fall off the wagon on the monthly exercise challenges. Something about alizarin's accomplishment really struck a chord with me, and made me want to Just Do It!.

I'm in! I'm also new here and have been looking for some motivating shared experience type things (long way of saying "challenge").

This one is especially good for me since one of my stumbling blocks is blowing off exercising when my schedule gets busy and when I'm traveling. But I'm going to count it as a win if this motivates me to get in even 10 minutes of concentrated exercise on those days.

I have to back track here a bit since I'm four days late (I hope that's all right), but I actually got a lot of exercise working in the yard and garden this weekend, hoeing, raking, moving firewood, etc.

Day 1 - June 1: 30 minutes of heavy gardening
Day 2 - June 2: 1 hour of heavy gardening
Day 3 - June 4: 25 min walk
Day 4 - June 5: *Two* 20 min walks
Day 5 - June 7: 20 min of yoga
Day 6 - June 8: 15 min walk
Day 7 - June 9: 30 min gardening
Day 8 - June 10: 20 min of yoga
Day 9 - June 11: 30 minutes gardening, and I've also added to my goal doing a set of chair exercises at work at least once a day
Day 10 - June 12: 15 minutes yoga, one set of chair exercises

Leslie Sansone is a series of walk at home fitness videos on DVD (I found several on YouTube). I have severe arthritis in both of my knees, so I'm starting out slow and easy.

Thanks everyone. Was feeling better yesterday, must have been a quick bug! I DID exercise yesterday, so, do I need to start my 100 days over or do I count yesterday as day three? I want to point out, I exercised despite the fact my daughter dropped a bowling ball on my foot and more or less shattered my big toe nail (surprisingly the toe is fine, the nail, not so much.) It hurt...but I worked through the pain! I so love kids...and sometimes I want to bloody throttle them :D

No starting over in this challenge! We're all just working toward 100 days of exercise, if we need a break now and then that's okay!

I haven't exercised yet today... At this point I'm not likely to... :o

I'm so impressed that so many of you have 8 or 9 days of exercise in (no breaks)! I had to take a break on Friday. My official Medifast weigh in had me down only 0.2 pounds for the week, and it was 105 degrees... I just couldn't muster the initiative to do it. However, I did drop a couple pounds the next day, so I'm not beating myself up about it...

Okay, so I am behind in posting, but 6 days down.

And for the record...I HATE yoga. "Do yoga" they say. "It's easy" they say. "It won't feel like a workout at all" they say. Yeah...they can shove it. :headache: It was harder than my three mile run today combined with my double whammy of 30DS back top back with a touch of ab work thrown in. Maybe my muscles where just worn down...or maybe yoga is tougher than all of that. Regardless, I SO don't like it. 5 minutes in wore me out more than 2 hours of everything else today. WHAT the heck is that about! It was just breathing and stretching!!!! :?:

(actually...maybe I liked it. I like challenges...but I think I am not ready for the challenge of simple stretch )

I loved yoga when I was more normal sized (translation - overweight instead of obese). I find it IMPOSSIBLE now, partly because of my size and partly because of my achy arthritic joints. It definitely is harder than it looks!

Drink more water and make sure you are getting enough calories in. Those were my two things that held me back. Once I corrected that, problem solved!

I'm feeling guilty that I haven't exercised in two days now. Getting back on track tomorrow.

Today I did spend 4 hours following my 16-year old around the mall. Does that count? I should have worn a pedometer. I'm sure I walked miles and miles...

Question for others doing this challenge: What do you consider "exercise"? for instance, is walking 0.25 miles exercise? Is 1 mile? does working out for 10 minutes count? or only 30 minutes and above?

Obviously it will vary for everyone, but I'm wondering what standards you set for yourself in regards to meeting the 100 day goal :)

I think everyone has to determine for themselves based on their own bodies and whatever health issues they carry. For me I either have to FINISH an exercise video (I use several from YouTube), or do a complete circuit of physical therapy exercises, or workout in the pool until I'm exhausted ;)

I have severe arthritis in both knees and one of my shoulders, so running isn't an option for me.

The only exercise I count is my scheduled workouts. My weight lifting is always scheduled and I do Xsets/Xreps for a certain amount of days before moving on to a higher amount and then a higher amount again.

My walking marked down on the challenge is all scheduled too! I have a 2 mile walk, 2.3 mile walk and a 3 mile walk. There has been a few days where I've taken a major short cut so it's been shorter like my walking yesterday, the 28th. I actually do a lot more walking because it is 1 mile walk to work and 1 mile walk from work. Majority of the time I do the 2 miles the day I am working but I don't count it.

I think it depends on the person. Everyone is different and I do think it depends on the level of ability the body can handle. If someone is not extremely fit and they do 0.5 miles walking, they could count that and I think that's fine! It's whatever an individual counts as exercise.

Day 33 down. :)

I had a realisation today. I've exercised every day since May 26th. Started this challenge on June 1st. However, my eating has been so up and down all of June that when I stepped on the scale on July 1st I was back to 142lbs. It was a little annoying - but I know it was my own fault. So July's goal is (still exercise daily and get to my 100 days ;)) but control my foods! I've been doing well so far and I stepped on the scales this morning I was 141. Oddly enough, I feel and look slimmer (in my opinion) yet the scales aren't moving and neither are the measurements! Weight loss can be so confusing sometimes!!

Anyways, it gave me great motivation for exercise today that I did my weight lifting sets x2 and I did a 5 mile walk! When I was out walking and I was struggling or getting tired I just told myself to keep on going. The minute I got home I collapsed on my bed! :p I've now decided to set myself a goal of losing 20lbs by November 1st. I'm hoping this will help my eating and get that sorted! Around the 7th or 8th is my graduation from college so I would like to look nice in my pictures.

Thanks, I know it burns calories but it was way too stop and go. I totally logged it into my exercise log but did not eat any of the calories because it was just too much stop and go. Awesome on the lowest weigh in.

a bit late, but i would love to join!

i joined a gym todaym got a 4-month membership. i am the lazyest person ever when it comes to fitness, and last year i had a 1 year membership and probably went about 40 times :(

i am giving it another go (at another gym, this time with a swimming pool). this new gym has less classes, and is a smaller gym really, but the swimming pool part is what i think could make the difference.

so i am thinking that i will make it my goal to go 100 days out of the 120 that this membership is.

I'm not sure I will be able to exercise today :( I had an early work meeting, am at work til 6, driving straight out to the suburbs (a little over an hour drive) for dinner with my cousins/aunt and uncle (will probably be there until 10ish), driving back into the city, doing laundry and going to bed :( Any ideas on some exercise I can squeeze in?

Maybe I will do a few sets of pushups, and squats...
