This Sunday is my 3rd weekly weigh in. Crossing my fingers that I beat the 10lb point. How do you guys stay motivated 7 mo in? I know the weight comes off a little easier at the beginning so did u feel different when it started coming off slower or was it just a habit by then?

It will be one year come June 1st. I'm down 49.3 lbs. I'm going to be honest, it's been one of the hardest things I've had to do but it's all been worth it. Persistence, determination, and commitment are what keep you going. It's not about sheer will power.

You really can do it, you just have to believe you can and do it. No discussion, just do it.

3 months and a few days, since I started tracking with MFP.
My highest weight was the day I found out I was pregnant (Mar 28, 2008/297). I changed my eating habits to support the pregnancy (and combat 20+ weeks of morning sickness). I lost weight while pregnant (?!) and had kept off almost 40 pounds since then. I was injured in September last year and realized how much harder recovery is with so much extra weight. Of course, then I couldn't even walk, so I just did my best to keep my diet in check...I gained about 6 pounds. Once I got out of the walking boot in February, I started to shift my focus from injury rehab to consistent weight loss and improving fitness.and I've lost those 6 plus another 21 since then. Phew long answer to a short queston, lol.

I started December 31, 2011. So, 2 years, (almost) 6 months. I lost the first 100 pounds in 9 months (September 22, 1012). After that, I would lose 10 - 20 pounds in a couple months, then stall out for months, then lose again, etc. Right now, I am trying to decide if I want to just maintain 190 for the next 2 weeks until my TT&BL or try and force myself down... Today, I'm kinda leaning towards maintaining... Especially after seeing wolfgirl69's swimsuit post earlier today! If you take our height difference into account, she weighs about what I will weigh after my surgery, and I'd kill to look like that!

Isn't that the truth.

Nor is it about willpower in my book.

Commitment, dedication, consistency.

Nine years (since my highest weight). :dizzy: Most of the loss has been extremely gradual.

The current "reboot" before going into pregnancy maintenance last month was a little over a year.

Everyone used to think I was like my dad because I was big. Evidently not. So I may have genes on my side...for once!

I remember reading you say that in another post. After reading everything that goes on on 3FC, I don't know what to believe about weight loss anymore! (i.e., whether genetics matter, whether eating breakfast is important, whether you matters if you eat a few regular sized meals a day or 5 little ones, etc.) I just eat my salads, veggies and lean protein, don't eat carbs, and remain a slave to my scale! :)

I was just thinking that we started at the same time when I read your post and we've lost almost the same amount (you got me by 10lbs!). LOL @ 805; you DO work for a living! My job right now is a cancer warrior and weight loser!

Ian posts in so many challenges and daily threads PLUS supports all of us on an individual basis; I don't know how he does it honestly. (Thanks Ian!!)

That's all I do! Plus beer. And lots of.

On genetics, I do not know either. But the following made me think.

A year and 7 months.

I've averaged 1.49 lbs per week. That includes weeks where I was losing 5+ lbs in the beginning many weeks where there was a pound or less. (more often now then not)

I've been feeling really blah about it lately. It takes some serious effort to keep your head in the game when you're just not seeing losses anymore. I guess it's a good sign that I'm not gaining it back, but it's frustrating still.

Just wrapping up 19 months.... this time. But, it's been a series of attempts since I was in high school - roughly 7 years apart. I've lost and gained 90+ lbs 4 times... and countless smaller amounts through the years. This is the LAST time. I really believe that to be true. I have to.

I think this is one of the reasons that so many people struggle with maintenance. When the scale stops being a motivator- then what?
(I've been thinking about this a lot lately.)

121 days. I lost about 25 pounds about 2 years ago. And then stopped trying. Since mid Jan I've dropped 43 pounds. I haven't lost anything in over a week, but I haven't been diligent. I agree with Vex, maybe it's time for me to stop looking for motivation and focus on commitment. :)

January 2010. My heaviest weight was 275.
By April of 2011, I was at 185 lbs and so proud!
I took a break, happy with my weight, and before I knew it I was back at 205 by January 2012. I still looked great and felt great, my clothes were a bit tight but I was happy.
Then I gained more, by December of 2012 I was 239. As of this year, I have been bouncing between 239-253.
This Sunday I weighed 252. Today I weigh 247.2, I'm not gaining anymore period.

So in a nutshell, I have been on and off this journey, with goal having been met halfway through it, for 3 years.
Since my restart last Sunday, I have lost 4.8lbs, I'm not going to let myself slip again!

I'd say 25 YEARS lol

always one half-assed attempt after the other, always "this time will be different" mentality but without any real work to MAKE it different lol

Once I did something different, things changed. I've been at goal 3 years now and wonder what the heck took me so long to get here!

I started on March 4 so it will be 3 months on June 4. I've lost almost 20 lbs (should be close to 20 lbs by next weekend) or 1.6 lbs per week on average and I should be reaching onderland within the next two or three weeks. I haven't been in onderland since 2009 (last time I made a serious effort at weight loss). :smug:
