Currently being tempted at work by someone bringing in 2-dozen donuts. They are a weakness for me, but I know if I give in, I will feel like crap later, and I won't do well for the 5 lb challenge.

They're on the entry-way table, which I have to walk past every time I go to the bathroom, refrigerator, microwave, or water fountain. So this is gonna be quite a day. Hope everyone else eats them up quickly.

So, I'm still inching in the right direction! Any loss is a good loss. It looks like I'm stabilizing at about 2lbs per week, which is a comfortable rate for me, but I won't mind some bigger drops thrown in there at random... ;) *hint hint*

Ian, I'm sorry that your scale has gone missing, but I hope you are having a fantastic time just the same.

Sue, I am rooting for you! I'm starting to enter uncharted territory with my weight, as well. I think the last time I was at this weight, it was in 2007/2008. Looking forward to taking more "years" off... Hehe!

Thanks RoseRed. My travel scale got lost in my luggage (which has gone missing at the airport) so I am going cowboy at the moment. No scale to weigh in until Sunday morning when I get home! I'll join the next challenge though! And then I will change my title back and location. Promise.

Sue...I always find beer. Belgian beer is real good. But not as good as US IPAs! Looking forward to those when I get home Saturday evening!

Thanks Tel. I have had a nice time. It was for work but it went well. And I managed to stay OP which is cool.

congrats sue!! i weighed myself yesterday and was up half a pound, and last night i didnt sleep well and ended up getting up several times to drink water so i skipped my weigh in this morning. hopefully that half a pound and maybe more will be gone by tomorrow...

So what happened? Well, lots of stuff. 1: This is my typical "post-weekend" spike. My days are busy and less structured, and my pre-prepped meals are all gone, so weekends are my challenge. 2: It's time for my monthly battle with hormones, so I'm starting to bloat. 3: Beer. Lots. of. beer.

Anyway, I hope I shake it this week, but I'm not holding my breath. I seldom lose during this week out of the month. Not even mad, though. I had a great time on Saturday with some great friends, and on Sunday I did the grocery shopping, got my breakfasts and lunches cooked for this week, bought & planted some tomato and pepper plants (and generally tended my veggie garden), cleaned up the house & took care of the bills. Very productive!

Ian, welcome back to the DC Metro area! Traveling is fun, but I'm sure you're happy to be sleeping in your own bed. (And weighing in on your own scale, lol!) Good luck keeping that 2 lb drop - maybe you'll surprise yourself. :)

Sue, I'm right there with you, right now, but at least I know it's my own fault. It must really stink to have the scale torturing you when you're behaving. Hang in there, sweetie... it will fall off again before you know it. And no, I don't suspect you'll be welcoming me to the 200's this week. I got within spitting distance on Saturday, but of course that didn't last long. I am buckling down for the epic battle between me and my hormones, lol!

Lulu, if there was any doubt in your mind about being solidly in Onderland, I think it should be gone by now. 196! You are just rocking it!

happierme, the best thing you can do for water weight is drink water, so if you're thirsty - drink up! Our bodies are so weird sometimes. :)

Ian, Lulu, and Pretty mom WAY TO GO!!

Telorida, I hate the monthly visitor. I typically can 5-10 pounds in water weight during that week, but this means that next week you'll probably have a big loss! And I actually realized the same thing about the water. I think my body waking me up multiple times an evening to drink multiple cups of water is a clear sign Im not drinking enough during the day. Im studying for a major exam that will dictate the rest of my professional career right now, so needless to say...IM STRESSED lol and I tend to sit at my test for hours at a time not eating or drinking anything....so as of yesterday, I started bringing a 4 cup water bottle with me to my desk and filling it up a couple times during the day, and last night I slept like a baby!

Sue, I know how frustrating it is to gain, especially when you're doing all the right things. Im sure any day now, all the water weight will swoosh off and you'll be a happy lady again =)

And I just realized...Im exactly half way to my goal weight. Ive lost 43.3 pounds since this whole journey started...albeit there were multiple breaks and "relapses" on the way.

I am going to treat myself to some beers YES indeed. It is a holiday and why not help out a local brewery and taste something new and just relax.. :) Sounds fun to me...

No party plans (yet), Sue... but we are thinking about firing up the smoker and smoking a few pork shoulders to make pulled pork. We make a ton and then vacuum seal and freeze it, then boil the frozen packages to reheat it... it ends up tasting just like fresh. We have a good vinegar-based spicy sauce for it that doesn't have too many carbs (we use erythritol instead of the sugar it calls for), so it won't even mean going off plan!

WannaskipandlaughNice job on fitting into the clothes!! Going to our neighbor's Memorial Day BBQ!! He is italian and makes the most wonderful, carb-filled foods - so it is a challenge for me - I plan to stick to the BBQ meats, green salad and any plain veggies and staying away from the desserts. I am bringing something low carb for the party but I am not sure what it will be yet. My goal is to get through the weekend at 196!!

I have become extremely antisocial while trying to lose weight because it is very hard for me to go to a party and not be able to eat all the great food or drink anything other than water (I do not like diet soda). I have to learn to say no to temptation.

"Most people don't plan to fail: they fail to plan" - well when it comes to staying on plan I have to have a plan before I go anywhere...and it does border on an obsession - I google restaurant menus before I go out and plan exactly what I can order before I get there - and we have a lot of choices on Atkins. It's harder to plan for the BBQ this weekend because everything will be out on tables......but I am doing my best!!

IAN... I have to ask... Did you ever get your bag back with the runaway travel scale? :) and about the weight loss (I am learning to come to grips with my gain a few days ago and am choosing to be happy inside and out :) ) I am thinking... if this is the worst that will happen to you... 2 days of gain and 5 days of loss... gosh... that is pretty darn good. I don't know if you have a chart set out... so you can see the downward trend and the very few upticks... but looking at it will just remind you how well you are realy doing. You are a great success and I admire your determination. You determination also to do it your way... so that you can live your life and still lose weight. You are a marvel.... :)

Prettymom... you are still going down just about everyday.. How cool is that?

Happierme.... its just the water lb that I lost yesterday... It is just visiting you and won't stay.. I promise...

Thanks Sue. The luggage has now been found but not delivered yet. So travel scale remains A.W.O.L.. For all I know it might be being used by someone else as we speak. It might even be having a night out on the town!

Regarding the gains and losses, I know I am pretty lucky. It's just such a bummer that I get big whooshes and then big gains. So I am getting out the party hats one or two days a week and then wearing black the next. I need to learn that any loss over a pound in one day might not fully stick. It's just so volatile and it has got worse both with exercise and as my weight has gotten lower.

I am just so desperate for 2-single digits!

IAN.. I have visions of your scale sitting in different surroundings getting its picture taken (Like the Gnome from Travelocity) Sorta like sending you postcards from where its traveled and who has stood on it :) :lol:

I do feel the same as you... When I am doing so well and not over doing it and eating the correct food I expect a loss and when I gain.. It just does not make sense to my brain and heart. I get upset and think well why bother.. but I know that I have to bother.... If I had stopped whenever I felt this way... I would still be at the starting gate and in worse shape then I was... I think that along with losing weight we are also getting to know our strengths and mindset and learning how to train ourselves to not be upset with what we really have no control over (THO we do try really hard don't we! ME Yep!!) You are doing so many new things (Gym, Tennis etc) that I bet you never thought we would be doing and liking it! How about that. You are a great example for your children too... an example of what determination can do.. Gosh what a wonderful lesson for your kids They have a great dad! As Mozzy says.. we are on a journey. Sometimes the journey has missing luggage (LOL) and sometimes it has the gorgeous sunsets.... We are just lucky that we get to share everything with each other and I am so happy that we can.

ANYWAY Friday.... Friday is the gateway to the weekend.. HOLIDAY weekend (IAN will you celebrate US Memorial Day? Is your wife a US Citizen?) so time to have fun, take care of ourselves and tell a Military warrior that we honor them!

Oh Its Friday and I don't have much to do at work (for a change) and I just want to "BANG ON THE DRUM ALL DAY" lol per Todd Rudgren (old I am yep) I haven't felt this happy and light in a LONG time. Just want to dance lolololol No camera's allowed! :lol:

Sue, I totally feel the same way as you...the big groups are great, , but I much prefer our small little group of supportive people =)

Ian, I totally retain water after working out too. Its a bummer, but hey, your muscles are getting lean and mean!

Lulu, CONGRATS on losing 4 pounds!!! and you said you were a slow loser...;)

Now that I got that out of my system, I can go on and have a good Friday. I absolutely love the accountability of this challenge. It is always a horrible feeling when I gain, but I don't give up because I know I can count on you guys for support to keep going.

Ian - The water weight from exercise will come right off, and you'll end up with great looking muscles. I love the line you added about Sue, and I definitely agree with you!

Sue - You numbers will go down. Great job on being patient and waiting for great results! Thanks for all your encouragement!

Lulu, Happierme, and Telorida - Keep up the good work, you guys rock!!

Happierme88 I truly am a slow loser - Wannaskipandlaugh provided me with major support through an awful plateau at 203. I'm on long term prednisone and every pound lost is a gift!! I struggle because I want to eat everything!! Not sure what's been happening in the 190's - totally unexpected loss......but I'll take it!!!

Yeah.., I knew I would be down.. just knew it... but I also know... that I would not have stayed the course if it wasn't for you truly wonderful and supportive people... I can't tell you how much reading your words stopped me from just saying "what the heck" and looking to the fridge for answers (never found it in there... but I still look LOL)


Lulu... I did not know you were on steroids.... Oh by losing weight on that is really hard.. You amaze me. You are so strong that you are bucking the side affects and doing it. :) that is some strength if you ask me!

Prettymom.... water water water.... It will go away.. it will and I bet you more than surpass your goal... You have time before someone wins,,, maybe a day or 2 :D but you can lose 2 lbs+ (YEP!!)

Happierme... I just cannot wait until you see that "1" You and IAN I have a feeling will both be the loudest people on the planet when that wonderful thing happens...

Oh its Saturday and it sure did feel good to sleep in - 7:45 wow.. got 7 1/2 hours of sleep and I bet that helped with the 1 lb off....

194 this morning!! I've lost 5 pounds during this challenge!! which I think is the fastest loss I've had since induction - my average is 1.6 pounds per week based on 19 weeks of Atkins!! Loving the month of May!! My crystal ball says there is another plateau in my future!!! Based on 1.6 pounds per week, I have about 10 weeks to 178 - the lowest weight I've had as an adult.

Well me too... walking last night took away another lb.... so at least during this challenge I lost weight and did not weigh more than my starting weight YEAH.... OH the 250's its been gosh... more than 7 years since I was that low. I Feel Good na na na na (James Brown)

I ended up gaining a bit since yesterday...my body is doing weird things with water weight this week.
