Default Where are all the in-between runners?

I can't be the only in-between chick, right?

There's the monthly running thread, and all those girls seem to be doing "easy" runs of 10 or 12 miles a day. And there's the Couch to 5K thread. Where's everybody else?

I did C25K back in 2010, and when I started running again this year I found that I hadn't regressed back to Day One of C25K (hooray!) so I'm just kinna doing my own thing and working back up to being able to run a 5K. I'm currently able to run about 1 - 1.25 miles without stopping, and then I alternate run/walk for another 2 miles. I'm hoping to get up to a full 3 mile run by June, when I'm running a Color Run 5K.

So, who else out there is between C25K and 12 miles? I really want some running chat buds!

I think me. I started running but don't have the patience for C25K. So I just get on the treadmill every day and do the best I can.

I am at about 1.5 miles (2.2 kilometers) now without stopping. Takes me about 15 minutes. I'd like to get to two miles.

Me! I do a lot of walking/running. I'll run for about 1 to 1.5 miles then finish it up with a walk or if I really want to get my sweat on I'll run for a few minutes then walk for a few and keep alternating. I'll sometimes sprint on those runs as well. I'd love to be able to run anything over 5 miles non-stop.

I can run a 5k straight but most days I end up running around 2 miles straight. But I'm no where near 12 miles a day, I'd feel like that would take a really long time to do.

I'm not sure if I count, but I am for now. I've finished my sting of half marathons, and I'm dropping back for the summer and rebuilding mileage. This week my runs are 3-3-4-3. My runs will stay single digits until Aug.

Me!! I started running (fast jogging?? lol) in the spring of 2008 with a goal of doing a 5k before my 40th bday. I made that goal with a month to spare! And that was 4 years ago... Since that time I have "wanted to run 5 miles"....with all of my starts and stops I am just now able to do 4...with a whole lot of walking after the first 3. Its all a mental gam with me. I have to tell myself "I can" and "I will" instead of "I want to" or "I can't". The IDEA of running a 1/2 marathon by the time I turn 50 has swirled through my head....not really sure I want to devote that much time that would require. Not to mention what I fear it would do to my knees!! They are already sore during and after a run....but the all over feeing I get after running is soooo worth it!!

I am an in-between runner, too. I started C25K last August and since then I have run an actual 5K and I run 3 times a week, usually about 50 min or about 6 km. I bought a Garmin watch last week and I am super excited.

Novus, thank you so much for asking this question and starting this thread! It's a question I've often asked myself.

I fall into the "in between" category. I've ran lots of 5Ks, several 10Ks, and run shorter distances every other day along with doing other workouts.

Maybe you should think about giving your thread a title of some kind and making this a monthly thing. I'd love to chat with other in-betweeners.

Thanks again!

I did 4 miles today at a light jog speed. My goal is to run that light jog speed for around 6 miles straight one day. A 10k yeah I'd like that

I hate running longer than 5 miles. Who has the attention span for that?! I like running 3 miles and working on speed. It's a good day when I can finish 5K under 27 minutes

It tracks my speed/pace and distance. I can upload the info, and I can see my map, the elevation, my splits, etc. I can compare runs and see what has improved or still needs improving. I currently have the Garmin 10, and I've loved it. I'll be upgrading soon though. If you never plan on running really long distances or doing triathlons, it's a great watch. It has a 5 hour battery life, which is the limitation that won't work for me this fall. (I also am *this close* to committing to a triathlon in 2014, so I'll want one that works for all 3.)
