I hope no one else started a new thread...I didn't see one.

Well I crashed this weekend. I drank beer and ate to my little hearts content. Now I feel like crap. *ugh* I didn't even work out!:stress:....of course I did it to myself. I knew I would feel like this, and yet I did it anyway. So I guess I shouldn't be whining....

But the good news is that it's a BRAND NEW week!! So now I can redeem myself. I'm still on for quitting smoking this Friday, so....that scares me.

Hope everyone else had a spectacular weekend!

Congratulations on your positive attitude AND your goal to quit smoking!

I quit a few years ago (4.5 to be exact!) and it was the best decision I've ever made. The possibility of gaining weight is certainly there and it scared me too, but the more you exercise and eat right the less you'll gain, and maybe not gain at all. I did put on a few pounds... BUT your lungs will thank you for not smoking anymore and you'll be rewarded by the ability to breathe deeper, exercise more, and lose that weight in no time.

I was scared too, but even if you do gain a few, it's for a much better reason than when we gain from indulging! Although... I never regret when I drink my points via alcohol, so I should go work on that... lol :)

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm feeling better about the smoking thing. I just sent DH to the store to stock up on all sorts of free/low cal snacks, so hopefully that will help. I've really been struggling this last week. My energy level has just been completely depleted by 2 pm. Not sure what I need to do about that.
Just keep pluggin away I suppose!

I'm there with you in the 180's but at the high end. I'm renewing my gym membership this week!

06-04-2013, 12:29 PM
We have this 180s thread too with all ages (not just 30 somethings!) if anyone cares to join.

I weighed in at 189.0 yesterday so I want to be part of all of them!

Hello my fellow 180s chicks!!

Hi! I was in the old thread here but I have been spinning my wheels of late. Today I weighed in at 187, but I am still retaining a lot of water from a 50-mile bike ride on Sunday. I think I'm really at 185, but I'll just wait until Friday to confirm. I've been in the 180s since February and I'm really frustrated with my lack of progress. Stress and I are not friends. But maybe the more effort I put into it, the more progress I will see.

06-10-2013, 08:58 PM
Hi, I'll join you guys here too. I'm a few weeks post partum and looking to get back to my prepregnancy weight. Currently I'm about 184lbs (my weight fluctuates a lot depending on if I just nursed or not!).

I've been walking like crazy because this baby only seems to sleep when I'm holding her and walking... ah!

06-11-2013, 08:49 AM
Hi runningfromfat! Congratulations on the baby! What do you have? I remember seeing you on other various posts around here, maybe the TTC thread?

I was down to 184 last Friday, but I had a binge of a weekend. It was my 10 year college reunion and I had always known that I was just going to eat and drink and be merry. So, like normal, I'm up a couple of pounds after the weekend. I also started weight lifting again yesterday and I usually retain a couple pounds of water right away. So, I'm going to do my best not to weigh in every day and just stick to the weekly weigh ins to measure my progress.

Probably not from the TTC thread since the baby was a surprise. ;) But I was around for a long time before that when I initially lost 80lbs. We had a girl and she's absolutely adorable, but just doesn't let me get enough sleep!

Good luck on the lifting, I've been doing that slowly too. I haven't seen any weight loss since I started but my waist has gone down two inches (although that could still be just from everything tightening up post-partum- hard to say). I can definitely tell that my muscle tone has been affected due to the pregnancy! I was still swimming and doing water aerobics right until the end but not lifting- boy am i sore!

06-11-2013, 01:37 PM
Runningfromfat - My little girl is going to be 2 in September. I actually gained weight while BFing because my supply would drop every time I cut calories, etc. But I was able to get fit in other ways, like running C25K, I just couldn't diet. Sleep is amazing and you'll feel like a million dollars the first time you get 4, then 6 hours in a row. Even though I took a month or two off from lifting, I'm still hauling a 28 lb kid everywhere. She loves to be held and carried, and since I'm strong enough, I'll hold and carry her.

06-14-2013, 09:05 AM
Friday weigh-in! 184.8. I was expecting a gain because I started stage 3 of New Rules of Lifting for Women on Monday and I always gain some if I'm not regularly weight lifting. I hadn't done any strength training since April because I've been focusing on riding my bike to work. But now I'm getting strong enough to do both. I've also ridden to work 3 times this week, but I'm not planning on riding all the way home tonight. I'm going to ride to my husband's office and make him drive me the rest of the way because I'm just too tired to care. My goals for this weekend is to stay on plan and get at least 2 miles of running in. I still have 13 pounds to go for my lose 32 by 32 (July 23).

06-21-2013, 09:59 AM
Another Friday, another weigh-in! 184.6 this week. It's a loss....but...every weekend I go overboard and then I spend the rest of the week trying to undo it.

I ended up riding home last Friday. I hit 600 miles for the year on foot or by bike so I found the energy to make it home to accomplish that. And I've ridden to work every day this week. I'm pretty sure that is a first for me. I didn't ride home on Tuesday thanks to a crazy amount of rain that evening. Honestly, I feel good right now. The weight might not be coming off like it used to, but I'm making progress nonetheless.

Is anyone else still reading this thread? Let me know how you are all doing!

06-28-2013, 07:11 AM
Yay! I lost 1.6 pounds this week, so I'm at 183. Time to update my ticker and profile :)

07-12-2013, 10:12 AM
I'm ashamed to post this. Friday weigh-in 4.4 pounds gained. 17.2 pounds total lost. I didn't keep track while on vacation but I had no idea it was that bad.

08-23-2013, 08:53 AM
Time to revive this thread....for me alone, lol. I weighed in today at 181.8! I've lost 6 pounds this week which so makes up for the 4 that I have been gaining and losing over and over again since March. I think BC really messed with how much water I was retaining cause there's no way I lost 4 pounds of fat overnight. Wine on the weekend and hormones = bloat for me.

10-25-2013, 09:19 AM
Sigh, is it still only me battling the 180s? Up and down I go from 181-186. Today I'm 183 but I'm committed to sticking to my calorie allowance on MFP for the rest of this year.

10-25-2013, 11:18 AM
Nope you are not alone :) The first day I got a glimpse of the 180's was August 20th and I'm still here. Lol

This mornings weigh-in was 181.2. I find I've become complacent and am not as diligent about good choices now that I've come this far. My choices aren't exactly bad it's just I'll splurge on what I want as opposed to what I know is the better choice for me.

10-26-2013, 09:15 AM
I feel the same way. I get back down to 181 and think to myself that I finally have it under control. It doesn't take more than a day or two of 200 extra calories and not exercising to pet me up a pound or two. I think I've been battling the 180s since March!

11-08-2013, 12:27 PM
I said I wasn't going to weigh myself again until Dec 1. But, I was feeling really down about my body fat %. There was a health fair at work yesterday and my readings were 38 and 38.5% fat. I've been tracking on my home scale and a scale at the gym since 2006 and it hasn't been that high in over 2 years. So I gave in to temptation and hopped on the scale...after breakfast and after my shower, with my hair still being wet. Today's weight was 181.6 and 35.7% body fat. I'm disappointed that I couldn't go 4 weeks without checking and relieved to see my body fat% drop.

Hey Gretel,

Have you tried switching up your exercise routine? Sometimes the change in routine is the best way to shock your body into losing weight. When I hit a plateau, I always find ways to challenge myself until I can break through a couple of pounds. Then I relax a bit and go back to my normal schedule until my body gets used to its new set point. Then I power through harder classes and training sessions when I get stuck again. I know time is a precious commodity, but maybe you could see if you can squeeze in something new. Like a kickboxing class once a week or something... Good Luck! And you will get out of the 180s! I know you can!!

11-08-2013, 01:11 PM
Hi Learning 2 Live - I've heard that same advice from a couple of people. But, I think I'm actually spread too thin, trying to do too many programs at once. I won't give up what I'm currently working on when I try something new, so I keep adding to the list. Earlier in the year, I was focusing on running. And that makes me super ravenous so I was constantly eating too much. I walk my dog almost every morning, bike to work when I can, do any one of the JM dvds I own, and follow the NRoL4W program. I'm also doing Pilates and I've tried spinning. I do a little bit of swimming in the summer, when it's warm enough outdoors. But I also take breaks that stretch out far too long. I didn't really lift from March until September. So right now, I'm only worried about finishing the new rules program.

I'm currently in an unintentional rest week (thanks to a killer cold my 2-yo gave me) and I think NRoL4W is working it's wonders during my rest week. I'm not running much right now, only as intervals with the lifting. And I'm watching my calories much better than I have since I was pregnant. I'm still trying to figure out my BMR and TDEE. Nothing is straight from the text book if you know what I mean.

11-12-2013, 02:29 PM
HI Gretel! How does the lifting work at home? Are you doing it at home or at the gym?

11-12-2013, 02:40 PM
Ross111104 - I've done both, but right now I'm only lifting at home. I have two sets of 1" dumbbells, a 1" barbell with various plates (2.5 pounds up to 25 pounds), and a weight bench. I can do 75% of my New Rules of Lifting for Women workout with just those items. I can't do pull downs or any cable exercises. I still need a step and I have (but haven't used) a pull-up bar for the doorway. My only major modification is that I don't have a squat rack so I have to be able to lift the barbell and rest it on my shoulders. Since the book gives options, I'll do dumbbell rows instead of the rowing machine type rows. I really like my setup because I can use my rest time by jumping on the computer. Sometimes I get distracted though and my workout takes forever. I have more weight plates and a plate rack on my wish list.

11-12-2013, 02:54 PM
Wow that is awesome! I belong to LA fitness but I go early in the morning to a spin class(just started going back today). I just don't really like the big gym feel. I like lifting weights but don't want to do it there because I always feel like is is such a social place. I.E. folks looking at you... trying to hit on you... girls putting on make up and the tightest clothes they can find to go work out... it just not my scene. But it is so close to my house and I am so pressed for time that it seems like my only option. So I guess I won't be lifting heavy anytime soon huh?:o

11-12-2013, 03:16 PM
Ross111104 - I used to use a gym at work and there were only a handful of people early in the morning. It was really great for these workouts. Unfortunately, I can't get there at those times now that I have a little kid. And the gym cut hours so I didn't even bother to renew my membership. If you want to lift a little, there are dumbbell workouts / body weight workouts that you can do anywhere. I'm still working on basic push-ups and planks when I lift. All dumbbell workouts are effective and it doesn't cost too much to do.

11-12-2013, 10:13 PM
Yeah very true... you know I really want to do crossfit. I will probably never get to do it though unless 1. they open a box near me and 2. I get rich somehow because it is SOOOO Expensive! LOL! You are awesome for doing all that stuff at home though.

11-14-2013, 08:47 AM
So my daughter woke up early and interrupted my morning walk plans, so I decided to weigh in since my schedule was already messed up. And today, I finally saw the 170s! 179.6 this morning! 23 days straight of accurate calorie counting on myfitnesspal and I think I can finally admit that my stall was mostly my own fault for being too lazy or too complacent to check my calories daily. I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and see how far I can go until the next stall. I'll keep an eye on this thread, but it's now time to join the 170s thread too! I hope to see everyone over there soon :)

Hi. I'm new to the forum, 30 something and starting off in the 180's. Anyone else still around who's in the 180's?

01-01-2014, 10:55 PM
Hi Jubilee, welcome! I've been on a long hiatus, but am trying to get back on the wagon. Yesterday I was 188.8, didn't weigh this morning as I went way overboard with the NYE festivities last night.

Thanks for the welcome, Audri. I've been hanging around in the Chicks In Control area after having just "discovered" my binge eating problem. I've been doing pretty well so far, but am a bit nervous that it may be just beginner's luck!

Here's to a new year and getting back on the wagon!

01-17-2014, 11:15 AM
Okay, now in the 180s (189) and hoping to keep my downward trend going! Jubilee and Audri are you still around?

01-31-2014, 04:18 AM
Hi, I am somewhere in the 180's. I will find out Tuesday on my first day of WW.

02-02-2014, 11:50 AM
I weighed in today at 179...I'm excited to b moving on....

02-03-2014, 12:38 AM
congrats qtee!!! donijo23 keep us posted.

i'm at 184 now, slow but steady wins the race!

02-03-2014, 06:08 PM
Well I did what I swore what I wasn't going to do and I got on the bathroom scale (which I need to hide). It showed 184. After tomorrow I will only go by the WW scale, but I got curious and wanted an idea. Now I am bummed because in a month and a half I have put on 9 pounds.... I attest it to the new relationship I am in going out to eat and not paying attention to what I was eating. Now I have to pay attention lol

02-05-2014, 03:45 PM
183 today, woo.

donijo23, what did the WW scale say?

02-06-2014, 01:20 PM
WW weighed me in at 186.6 :(
I hope some of the extra weight was from my shoes....lol
I went to the store and got everything i need to do simple start yesterday and I am starting today. It is sad to say but I think I am only going to do WW officially until i learn the point system since it has changed and then I am going to follow it on my own because I cant afford it. Once I learn it I am going to teach it to my friend and we are going to do it together. So with her support and everyone here, I think I will do great!

02-06-2014, 01:42 PM
Shoes/clothes/time of day matter a lot.

On any given day I know I vary in weight between 1-2 pounds at different times. Some people suggest only weighing yourself once per week, for me what's working so far is to weigh myself every 1-2 days and put it in an excel spreadsheet. Because I can see my patterns, I know that often times I hold weight or go up a bit before losing it "all at once" and this pattern helps me feel better when I know I'm doing things right but it's not reflected on the scale.

Sorry that you won't be able to keep doing the WW program but I think you will be able to use the tools and indeed social support here to keep you going.

I have struggled with my weight for years, up, down, up, down and hope that this time the pattern will be different, but so far I'm enjoying what I'm doing in this round, some new stuff I haven't done before (calorie counting, eating less processed food and waaay more salads and brothy soups, drinking lots of coffee, tea, water). In the past I have tended to do extreme diets or extreme exercise and never could incorporate those things into long-term lifestyle patterns. This time things feel more "doable" and I'm okay with losing weight more slowly. I've been losing about 1 - 1.5 lbs / week without being miserable. Obviously I wish it would go faster sometimes, but I think that's been a trap of mine in the past.

02-07-2014, 03:03 AM
I have literally hidden my scale because I am afraid of getting on it more than once a week. I don't want to see the increase and feel defeated. ;)

As far as WW, I am not crazy happy with it. They push the simple start, and
I am not fond of it. I am a very picky eater and trying to figure out ways to eat only what they let you eat at the beginning is a pain in the tushy. I wanted to just start on the points, but they didnt want that because "it has been proven" that if you do simple start you have a better jump start on weight loss. :nono: Also, I feel like I get much more support here  than I do at the meetings. I was not impressed with that either. I guess I will have to see how the next one goes before I make too big of a decision on them, but I just didnt see the support from it.

Well that was a lot of complaining lol :df:

02-07-2014, 03:12 PM
if it helps, complain away. i'll do my own share of complaining... a week and a half before my period or so i actually get an appetite increase and that sucks so hard b/c what i thought i was accustomed to eating doesn't seem like enough. so annoying.

last night my spouse and i had a lavish meal out and while i didn't eat as much as i once would have, i probably overdid my calories by at least 1500 yesterday... ugggh. i have a hard time being more restrictive beyond my normal afterwards to so i can't even make up for it... just put that in the bank i guess. bleh. but... it was delicious and fun so i shouldn't complain too much. i'm trying to treat this as a lifestyle where i go out once in awhile, not as deprivation, so feeling guilty about splurges every so often is probably not healthy.

02-08-2014, 12:20 PM
I just feel so restricted on what I can eat. and I have been following the rules. I just feel hungry. A lot lol :df:

02-10-2014, 08:35 PM
183 today, and that was before dinner. Yay!! Working on getting to 180 and then some...

02-11-2014, 05:16 PM
Second weigh in at WW 181.2 = lost 5.4lbs!!!!!!

02-21-2014, 07:54 PM
As far as WW, I am not crazy happy with it.

I feel the same way. I find the company at the meetings to be almost unbearable, and as far as "the plan", it's totally stopped working for me. Seriously. So it's uber frustrating.

I honestly can't wait until I find that magic plan that works for ME.

Oh ,and btw -- Hello! I'm new here :)
