hey jenifer and all you other babes!!!

what a fantastic name for the thread! and isn't it the truth? actually when i woke up this morning i was thinking of what the name of the thread could be... and june bugs ran through my head. but bugs is not attractive. and esp. not attractive as BABES! hee.

anyway, today is cold and wet. so i won't be walking outside, but probably will be doing the watp 2 miles. i'll post later to let you know what i did indeed end up doing.

okay, i'm setting a goal this month. and it's going to be 70 miles. hopefully i will be able to reach this goal. i'm sure i will with all the motivation and encouragement from you babes!!

happy june!

Hi Ladies!
i'd like to join and make my goal...hmm, 75 miles? Yeh, I'm gonna try for that. I should be goin jogging today so I'll let ya know what I do once I come back.

06-01-2003, 04:04 PM
HELLO all you June Babes!

A BIG WELCOME to Turtle! Glad to have you aboard! :)

Kristen, I too thought of June Bugs because of those icky bugs, but definitely prefer June Babes. ;)

Okay, after giving it much thought I am going for 75 miles this month for my goal. I know that's only 5 miles over what I did in May, which I went over my goal of 60, but the second week of June I will be gone for 4 days, possibly 5 and I am not so sure I will get any walking in at all. I am going to try really hard though. I know there is a park where my mother lives that has a trail, or was the last time I was there. They had a tornado go through the town and did quite a bit of damage. But we will see. I did get my exercise in early again for the day so I would have to say I am off to a great start. Have done good with my eating also, so overall this is the start of a great day and month. Hope EVERYONE else is also having a GREAT Sunday. :grouphug:

June Goal~75 miles
Miles 6/01/03~3 miles
Total Miles 6/03~3 miles
Miles to go~72 miles

06-01-2003, 04:08 PM
Hey all you fabulous babes! Welcome to the merry month of June. I got in my regular route of 3.5 miles bright and early this morning, maybe I'll even shoot for another 3.5 this evening. We'll see how today goes. I'm hoping for a better month w/my food choices and to get that scale to budge downwards instead of upwards. I am shooting for 90 miles in June--a bit of a stretch but I think I can do it. Wish me luck.

 Welcome aboard Turtle! This thread is growing by leaps and bounds and we have Jenifer (Justsecretgirl) to thank for starting it up. *Thanks Jenifer!* :dancer: Love your signature line BTW, very funny  .

Have a great Sunday Lynne, Cristi, Kristen, Kristi, Jen, Jenifer, Janine and welcome again Turtle. Let's keep walking our way to Babeville. I've got to get going so I'll see y'all later.

JUNE GOAL: 90 Miles
Miles Walked to date: 3.5
Miles to Go: 86.50

Jenifer, Yippee another 2.2# gone forever. I knew you were doing too well not to see a loss soon!! Thanks again for this wonderful spot of encouragement. I am a June Babe, no doubt.

Cristi, June Bugs was my thought too:lol: WHy do people, especially mothers always feel the need to tell you things you allready know?!

Janine, Sounds lke you had a funfilled, low cal., exercising Sat. No better way to spend a day off. Great Job!

Kristen, Maintaining, that's good. Babbling, that's good too - I'm great at it myelf. WTG on your walking

Jen, Now that's determination. You had 5 miles to go on the 31st just to make goal and you managed to surpass your goal by a mile and do a bike ride ta boot! You deserve a big pat on the back. Nice job.

Noelle, 89 miles YGG!!! That old saying, " out of the mouths of babes, " comes to mind so often. Little ones are so precious. I hope they always allow us to love them like they do right now.

Lynne, I hope you are able to post a picture of your garden once it's started to take off. You are working so hard at it I bet it's going to be just beautiful.Your numbers for May are so impressive. 8.8# gone just like that.WTG!! Doing this life change has to be about getting healthier to live longer more energetic lives or why do it? Love yourself first and best and the rest will take care of itself.
Welcome aboard Turtle. You'll love these ladies!

I was so proud of myself yesterday. I attended both parties and ate aprox. 2000 cals. for the day. Not low enough to lose, but not high enough to gain especially since I walked 3 miles right away in the morning. I wish I could be as proud today. We took the children to see, " Finding Nemo, " I ate 1/2 lg. bucket of buttered popcorn. I was better behaved at McD's ordering a salad with the low fat dress ing and only sneaking 3 FF, but then I got home and scooped up ice cream cones for everyone including myself. I di no measurable exercise this first day of June, but I am not angry. Tomorrow is another day and I'm back on track no matter what. You all are doing great, look out June here come the Babes ;)

Hi all you Hot Babes!   Welcome aboard Turtle and Michelle! :balloons: It's great to see some new faces!
Noelle you are giving me motivation to really kick some butt this month! :) Is your son all better now???
I am so Hot :flame: b/c of the heat here! I just got done doing 2 miles and feel good but the sweat is just pouring off of me. Today my dh and I planted a tree in the backyard. I am so excited to start fixing it up a bit. We moved in last Holloween and haven't had to do much to the house b/c it was in great condition. The backyard is about the only thing that we really need to fix up a little. I love spending time outside so it outta be fun. Well I have a doctor appointment tomorrow for the bump on my lower jaw and one above my eyebrow. I know they're just going to send me to a specialist so that will be another appointment. I had one on my lip before and they removed it, for some reason I get these bumps, kinda like cysts. Who knows........I'll talk to you all later! Have a good Monday!:p
JUNE GOAL: 50 Miles
Miles Walked to date: 2
Miles to Go: 48

06-02-2003, 12:31 AM
I have not set a goal for June yet. Is it really June? I wish someone would tell Mother Nature. She has been quiet confused here about the date.
I guess I should sit down and set some kind of goal. I don't know if it will be an actual mile or just to walk so many days a week. I really need to get back in the swing of things here. This might just be the month to do that.

06-02-2003, 02:20 AM
Can I join? My goal for the month is 60 miles. I did the Walk to Cure Diabetes today, plus time on the treadmill later on - I did 6 miles today. :)

06-02-2003, 02:43 AM
well hello to all you babes. I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was actually pretty good. I was tired today at the gym though, so I only got in 2 miles because I wanted to get on the bike for a bit too.

Welcome to Turtle, Michelle, and Raelynn!!! You will have so much fun on this thread.

GO NOELLE and CRISTI: 90 and 75 miles, you guys rock.

I think I'm going to have to keep my goal at 60 miles right now, especially with the trip coming up this next week. I'm anticipating alot of walking but I want to be safe. Speaking of the trip, tomorrow is weigh in for me, and i will find out how much exactly I need to lose to meet my vacation goal. I might be able to pull it off, we'll have to see. I'll have to work my BUTT off for the next five days but that's okay.

Well time to go watch the Wiggles with Ivy. I'll check in tomorrow. Have a wonderful Monday!!!

June Goal: 60 miles
Miles walked to date: 2

P.S. Jenifer- good luck at the Doc tomorrow. I hope everything gos okay.

Kristi: Thanks for the pat!! :)

06-02-2003, 02:54 AM
Hey everyone!
Thanks a lot for all the warm welcomes :) Today I jogged 3 miles and walked another 1/2 so its a total of 3.5 miles, whoo hoo!
But I'm about feeling like this . :faint: cuz I'm about to fall asleep on my keyboard so I'll write more tomorrow. :)

06-02-2003, 09:46 AM
Good evening folks!

I went for a REALLY long walk today - 1 hour!!!!
After that and my stretches, I'm certainly feeling my muscles working!

Food's been good. I was determined to be under points, but missed out by 5.... one too many bread rolls with the yummy beef stew that Marc made.

I've just done my nails. I love doing that, always makes me feel like a new woman!

Hi to all the newbies - I've only just joined in the last month myself and really enjoy chatting with the folks here - certainly a great way to gain support and motivation! :D

I'm off to watch a scary movie with Marc.... Aliens - a good oldy!

06-02-2003, 06:16 PM

Well, my Monday was off to a good start. Today was weigh in and I am down 1.5 pounds. Which was a little surprising as I was pondering whether I actually did as horrible as I was thinking I did. I thought maybe I just maintained, which would have been fine, just as long as there wasn't a gain! :yikes: I get so stressed with weigh ins, not sure why. :stress: I did get my exercise in today, another 3 mile walk.

A big WELCOME to Michelle and Raelyn! Glad to have you ladies aboard.

Jenifer, yes THANK YOU so much for this thread! I hope your doctors appointment goes well today.

Jen, I have to say if it wasn't for Jenifer for starting the thread and Noelle for walking so much, (she is awesome) I would NEVER be where I am today with this walking. I never dreamed I could or would ever in my life walk this much. Noelle with all her walking (YGG!) truly motivated me to get off my big booty and get to walking. But, too ALL of you ladies for being here for me and for each other. I think WE ALL have done an AWESOME job!

Hi to Lynne, Noelle, Janine, Kristi, Kristen, Turtle and anyone else I may have missed. I hope EVERYONE is having a good Monday. Talk to ya ladies later! :grouphug:

Hola again!
Today I jogged 3 mi and walked 1 more so I'm reporting 4 mi total today. whoo hoo!
JSG - This thread is a lotta fun. Starting it was a great idea! And I hope all goes well with the doctor.
EMarigold - Congrats on the weight loss!!!! I know just how you feel with the getting stressed over weigh ins thing, but you've beat it this time! And I bet you will make your goal of 75!
Mele- Thanks for the signature line compliment It used to be "Death to my scale, I swear someday I'm gonna take an axe to that thing." but then once it started to move I decided to change the line. And is your name Hawaiian? It's pretty. :)
I went for 2 weeks last summer and now PA just doesn't look the same, lol. Good luck on your 90 miles!
LovnM- I think you've got a great attitude about eating that sundae. I know that a lot of times when I slip off track I beat myself up over it and am tempted to just say "forget this whole thing!" but I admire that you've gotten over it and are ready to keep on truckin' :) And good job on the parties and eating at McDonalds!
M&Im- Good luck on that vacation goal! I know how much it sucks to know you've gotta be strict for the next few days but just think of how great you'll feel when it's time to go and you've met your goal.
LFL- Nice job on the long walk. And I like doing my nails too!
Also hi to kcat, michelle, WNYm, and Rae.
Talk to ya ladies later!

Hi Babes! Welcome Raelynn! :) Glad you found us! Wow everyone is off to an awesome start! :cp: :cp: :cp: I had a good walk tonight. The doctors appointment went fien they just have to send me to a specialist now. Kaiser thinks it is cosmetic so they probably won't remove them. Ughhh! Cristi!!!!!!:bravo: on the 1.5! Hello Ladies-

Well today I took a break from the gym, and just did a regular walk. I got in 3 miles. But it's back to the gym tomorrow. Today was my weigh in day and I am down 5 pounds!!! I am only 3 pounds away from my vacation goal. I probobly won't make it because we are leaving on Saturday, but if I come close I will be happy. I just can't believe I have lost this 27 pounds so far.

Well it's official......I have gone nuts planning this trip to New Mexico. It's becoming a bigger headache than I thought it would. I won't bore you with the details. It's in my journal if you want to take a look. Don't want to make this post too long.

Jenifer: OH MY GAWD!!!! doesn't kaiser suck sometimes? I have had my doc say that I need a breast reduction since I was 16 (and I was thin until I was 19) and kaiser said it was cosmetic and wouldn't cover it. Not to mention my mom....questionable moles and stuff.....Cosmetic. Did you ever hear about that little girl that was born with out the facial muscles to be able to smile? Kaiser wouldn't pay for her surgery until there was a huge protest and court battle. Because again they said it was COSMETIC. The little girl was not able to SMILE for goodness sakes. Now after like 12 years she can smile. Sometimes I wonder what we pay the premium for? :soap:

Well to everyone else How the heck are ya? Everybody seems to be off to a great start. Talk to you all tomorrow!!!

June Goal: 60 miles

Hi all

It's amazing how, once you become active, how much more active you become. Does that make sense? You become energised, motivated. I'm finding I'm doing so much more actively than I did before. For example, I cleaned my dad's car today, in record time, as well as jogging up and down the road to get stuff from my parents house. On top of that I went for a 30 minute walk and did my stretches! Before getting into this, just cleaning the car would've buggered me! :D

Food was ok, but Marc made my favourite Banana cake - had 2 pieces with a mug of light hot chocolate, while watching CSI. Love that program!

Cristi, WOOO HOOO :bravo: :cp: :cp: on the loss - it's the best when you're not expecting it!!! I hate weigh in's too - there's so much PRESSURE. I know some people who never weigh for that very reason. I'm a bit of a scale-aholic, so I have to weigh, but it really puts the pressure on your week, when you are obsessed with whether the scale's gonna go up or down a notch! I reckon we shouldn't weigh every week, because weight fluctuates so much, but I couldn't cope going that long without!

Hope you're all having a good week.

06-03-2003, 12:05 PM
I'm not going to join this challange but I really admire the dedication to walking. 75 miles in one month is a lot of miles. I walk/jog 2.5 miles three times a week for about 30 miles a month. We have an half hour limit on the treadmill during peak times (which seams to be always) so I usually only do 2.5 miles but would like to do more.

06-03-2003, 07:13 PM
Caledon...at least your doing that! :)

3 miles today.

June total: 3

06-03-2003, 09:51 PM
Michelle, Welcome, it looks your doing great well on your wat to GW:D

Jenifer, Sorry to hear about your rotten insurance, let us know what you find out. If it's ok I'd like to keep you in my prayers:) I am so jealous of your weather, it has turned dreary and cold here. The older I get the more I seriously contemplate moving to a more moderate climate. The colder weather can really give me the downers. About trees, my husband and I planted 4 trees the year our first child was born. 3 of them are now about 20 ft. tall. The 4th my sister-in-law mowed off. She tried to secretly replace it so her brother wouldn't get huffy. I noticed right way, because she replaced it with a different type of tree and then ended up mowing it down too the following week:lol: Needless to say we all agreed it wasn't the right place for a tree;)

Janine, Not to offer unsolicited advice, but maybe try setting your goal low. I went for 1 mile a day last month and it fealt so good when I surpassed it. I don't want to be an exercise "nut" I just want to move some most every day. For me aiming high just doesn't work, because it seems like work then.... You've come so close to your goal weight..... you can do it.:D

Raelynn,Welcome I love your quote. I may have to use them from time to time.

Jen, 5# lost, you totally rock babe! I'm believing you just might make that vacation goal. Great job:smug:

Lynne, A body in motion tends to stay in motion!!!

Cristi, Woohoo 1.5# gone for you. WTG!!

Turtle, WTG on your miles you're really starting the month out with a bang

Kristen, Awesome job on hit'n a zone. Doesn't it feel so good when you have the energy to do more than you planned.

Caledon, Come on and join us. There is no challenge here. We only challenge ourselves and route for everyone.

As for me, I finally have some miles to log and my eating was better yesterday and back to good today. I really need to get busy and make more whole wheat pasta and pita bread. It's just so much better than the boughten stuff and the whole grains make eating less so much easier. I'm looking forward to a field trip to WI Dells with my oldest child tomorrow. My father-in-law is even driving the bus we're taking, so we should have a good time. An added plus we're eating in a park so I can pack only healthy stuff and not have to resist any resteraunt food. Have a great eve ladies!

JEN!!!!! 5 Pounds! That is awesome!!! :high: and I am doing the happy dance for you!   What did you do different this week to lose so much??? Please tell! Have a great week OP!
Kristi I would love to be in your prayers! Thanks a bunch! Well I am about to turn the air on b/c it is 6:30 and still almost 100 degrees! Ughh! So I will post after I get back from my walk tonight.
Update: Just got back from my 2 Mile walk. Everyone is doing great! Whohooo!

I know I should set a goal but things have been so crazy around here that I am afraid if I set any goal at all I will not meet it so I opt not to set a goal. I used to be able to get in my treadmill time but since I have had to make meeting with the special ed dept at school, meet for festivities at another school, get things going for my son to go to Boy Scout camp, me to a possible meet in Toronto, having DH send me on this errand or that errand I am just so exhausted by days end. Right now I am agrivated over trying to find another car seat/booster for my younger son. Having a problem finding on to fit with my car and it's only a 1997 Chevy so nothing unusual!!! I have to take a car seat/booster back to the store tomorrow and hope to find one that will fit my car.
I am doing alot of walking here and there doing this and that but have no way of measuring it all. Also yard work is in the mix now. UGH!!!
Not that I am making excuses but then maybe I am. :(
I had a 40 minute workout on my TO DO list for today but get one son off to school, laundry, clean in the kitchen, more laundry, get younger son in the shower, clean the bathroom then I had to go vote for the school budget dragging a 4 year old along for the fun, did some shopping, came home and put everything away then got things started for supper. I grilled a bunch of veggies and some chicken sausage out on the grill. Had to run out and get a new propane tank half way through grilling dragging an 11 and a 4 year old, finish supper, eat, clean up, talk with DH a bit, move car seat from my car into show car so DH can take the boys to a cruise night, go out and try and find a second car seat/booster (went to 2 stores for this), try and install the seat I did buy only to find out it isn't compatable with my car then get it back in the box then the box in the trunk, get the old seat out of the show car and put it in my car. By this time it was almost 9PM and past time to get DS#1 in bed. I have yet to read the evening papers and it is now 10PM. I have been trying to do some searching online for a seat/booster with no luck.
OK, venting is done. Tomorrow is another day so maybe tomorrow I can get in my 40 minutes but then I have a 4 year old to run back and forth to school along with laundry, taking that seat back and trying to find one to fit. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!

hello babes

hope you're all having a nice day. today was beautiful. a beautiful day in boston... who would have thought? we have been stumped with bad weather. mother nature so hates the northeast. but it was beautiful today... i ended up going to newbury street during lunch with a coworker of mine. we hiked up the whole street just looking for these shoes. these particular shoes that her sister NEEDED to have. i looked at it as getting exercise, plus it was a nice day! so i really can't complain. we probably walked about a half mile during lunch... i'd say. and then tonight i walked two and a half... so that's 3 more miles for june. :D i'm so going to reach my goal. :)

jen - 5 pounds? that's awesome! :cp: :cb: :cp: keep up the excellent work! and let us know your secrets!

lynne - i totally agree with you about the ... the more your active the more you want to be active... type of thing. i can see it with myself as well. i welcome it with open arms! :) i also have to agree with you about the scale thing. that's why... if i have a scale at home... i'd be psychotic. weigh in once a week is good. but on those weeks that i don't lose as much as expected... i have to start counting my successes other ways.

kristi - good job getting back on track! :) whole wheats are so filling. i never realized it before... but it really does make a difference! :T

jenifer - please stop making me jealous of your weather! one week it will stay nice in boston... and i won't be jealous of you! keep up the great work with all your walking!

janine - it seems like you're doing a lot of activity already! if you add it all up, it does count for something. and i'm sure that you'll get your walks in... somehow in your busy schedule you will!!!

alright girlies... i'm out. oh... another notice of me losing weight. this time by my old manager. that was a huge surprise... cause he doesn't generally notice anything unless it's about him!

anyway... g'nite babes! keep on walkin'!

JUNE GOAL: 70 miles

Hey ladies!
It was super cold and rainy today but I dragged my butt outside and managed a mile with my umbrella. That makes 8.5 mi total so far this month. Yay for me and good luck to all! :)

06-04-2003, 12:32 AM
Wow thank you for all the welcomes! :D

I did 2 more miles today, for a total of 8 for the month. 52 to go! :)

06-04-2003, 02:22 AM
Well today I didn't get a walk in. All I did was a 3.3 mile bike ride. Better than nothing. We brought the motor-home over today to start getting it ready..It's going to be busy around here for the next couple of days. I have to make sure the house is clean and then get ALL the laundry done by Thursday, because I want to get everything packed by Friday. My sis is still driving me crazy with all her complaining. I hear a mosquito flying around here. It's really bugging me.

Tomorrow is my sons last day of first grade. I have no idea where the year went. Pretty soon he'll be graduating high school.

Janine: I have to get stuff ready for boy scout camp too. Are you going with him or is it just fro the kids. I'm lucky enought o have my dad, his gradnpa going with him. I don't do well camping, unless I have a bed, t.v., microwave....stuff like that

Well we had a kidnapping here in Colorado today. We got the first Amber alert at around noon. Some lady took a 2 week old baby from his mom when I believe she was on a street corner waiting for a bus. Got back in the mini van and took off. They still have had no word on either of them yet. I'm praying they find the baby unharmed SOON. I can't imagine what his parents are feeling right now.

Well on that note, I'm going to go give my kids kisses and watch them sleep, and then I'm heading off to bed also. I'll talk to you all later.

June Goal: 60 miles
Miles walked to date: 5

Hey ladies. I'm doing good so far in the month of June, haven't missed a day yet (of course we're only 3 days into it, but every day counts right? :D ) . Anyway, I was a bit down in the dumps yesterday since I found out a friend and colleague of mine passed away suddenly on Sunday. Her niece and sister are traveling out here to HI to settle her affairs and her memorial service is scheduled for next Monday. She was a mentor, a friend and someone I'd call if I needed info on mutual customers--she always had the scoops on everyone. She was another one who battled w/her weight and within the past year and a half, she was winning that battle. I will miss her dearly.

Geez, I miss a day of posting and there's so much chatting going on--it's wonderful! Welcome to the newbies that I haven't said hello to:  Raelyn, Michelle and even Caledon  . Caledon, Kristi is right, join us--the only person you're challenging is yourself and no one else. Sorta like the game of golf... ;)

Jen congrats on your amazing 5# loss. That is SUPER! You will reach your vacation goal, you sound so energized. Your trip sounds fun and if your sis keeps complaining, you can tell her you're leaving at 7 a.m. (then you get up early and leave @ 6a.m. --oops! ) It doesn't sound like she has kids, huh? You have fun either way. I hope they find that kidnapped infant. That is SO scary. I gave my boy an extra hug at bedtime too.

Turtle WTG on getting out there despite the rain :rain: .

Kristen, you're lucky to live in Boston even though the weather is unpredictable at this time of year. It's a city I'd love to visit one day. Me, I have to live in Hawaii of all places :p (hehe, just kidding) . No really though, I'd love to visit Boston. That's cool that your boss noticed your loss--it makes it especially "feel good" when someone of that sort notices. Good for you!

Janine, boy do I know that car seat problem! Luckily Toys R Us let us take a few out of the store to "try it on for size" before we bought. Good luck on getting one that fits. Yeah, you do sound really busy, you're sure to be burning a bunch of calories just doing your daily thing.

Jenifer, HMO's can suck big time. That's not cosmetic. I'll be sending good vibes your way for them to cover your service--medical premiums are so high anyway, they should cover something! Ugh, and 100 degrees??? We've been having 87-90 and I've been suffering.

Kristi have fun on your field trip tomorrow. Tell us how it went and what you saw.

Lynne I can feel your energy too. I totally know what you mean about becoming active and just wanting to do more and more. It's a good thing to become addicted too.

Cristi, good job on your loss!!! Sometimes the metabolism does wonders even though we think we messed up. See? All that walking and bike riding is doing a lot of good. Keep it up, you're doing great.

Well, it's almost bedtime for me...if I missed anyone, I'm sorry...hope you all have a great night an even better tomorrow.

See ya!

Thanks for all your support everyone. Some times I feel I am making excuses but there are days I just have no time for the treadmill and yesterday was one of them.

I am not going to camp with Scott but I had to take care of getting all the paperwork in order, make sure he has an updated physical and all his shots are updated, he also needed some clothes and a sash for his patches. Now it is a matter of teaching him how to sew those patches on his sash. I was doing the sewing but the Scout Master told me Scott should be doing that so...

Hello ladies. I hope everyone is doing well. :)

Hubby walked with me another 2 miles last night. I had to..we had homemade pizzas! I've been doing badly on the eating in the past few days...it's kind of like that towards pay day (I only get paid twice a month). All the veggies and good stuff to eat runs out! :/

Oh well, I going to try to walk another 3-4 miles tonight.

June so far: 5 miles.

lovnmom, forgot to say TY. It's not been easy...but, it's definitely worth it! :)

06-04-2003, 03:35 PM
Hey all! Put in 3 miles on the track today, so that's 11.5 mi total this month...and 53.5 miles to go. Whoo! I can get my motivation up I may go back out but the weather is still cold and kind of blah so we'll see. At least it isn't raining anymore. Mele, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. It's always so sad to lose someone you care about... :( But tomorrow it will get a little better and then a little better after that. Keep on walkin ladies!

06-04-2003, 06:50 PM
Jenifer, 100*--- I am so still jealous!

Janine, When you put into print what moms do every day it kind of makes your head spin! Breathe deep and move through to tomorrow. We're here for your venting anytime!

Kristen, What's better than exercise and shopping combined?

Turtle, I'm singing in the rain, just singing in the rain. WTG!

Raeylynn, Great job!

Jen, Great job on the bike. I can't waite for school to be out then time will allow me to ride bike also. Changing up my routine is so important to avoid boredom.

Noelle, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, I'll pray that you receive all the comfort you need at this time.

Michelle, Great job getting you hubby out there with you!

I visited the Wisconsin Dells' area today. A big tourist attraction. We rode the "ducks" the vehicles that were used in WW II that can go on both land and water. They take you through beautiful areas with loads of rock formations created by the glaciers. The kids love when you enter the water fast because they get a little wet! After that we went for a horse drawn wagon ride through " The Lost Canyon" It too was formed by glacier movement and is just beautiful. There were places that the wagon just fit through. What makes all the tours so much fun though is the college kids that conduct them. One pun after another etc. Tricking the kids and stuff. It really was just what my daughter and I needed. A little time when she could lean on me and rest without having to move for one of the younger children. They all so need that alone time with mom. So, no exercise today, but cals. went real good. I packed light and it was a good thing because we stopped for frozen custard on the way home and I was able to have a single scoop peaches and cream without going over. Yummmy! Have a great eve ladies, we're off to piano lessons.

 Kristi

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! :yikes: I just lost my long post! Bummer!

Okay, well I am going to make this one short sorry ladies. I didn't get much done today. Was going to call it a free day but I think I will go do a short walk as soon as I get off this. I figure with having a treadmill and exercise bike there really is no excuse for not getting something done.

Anyway, HI to EVERYONE! :) I hope you all had a wonderful day today and hope you have even a better day tomorrow. :grouphug:

I will edit this post and enter my walk later this evening or in the morning. Depends on if I can get on the computer later or not.

P.S. I did end up doing a little over 2.5 miles, yippee! Today wasn't a total waste afterall.

hello there ladies!

how is everyone this fine evening/morning? i hope that you are all doing well! i woke up with sore quads this morning. :s: they lasted throughout the day. i was going to forego any sort of walking... and do sit ups or something... but i decided to pop in one of my walking tapes and did 2 miles! :D how's that for dedication?

i was in a real bummer of a mood today. work, the weather... everything just got me down. :( so the least that i could do was try to walk at least a little. release some endorphins or something. so i did. i hate when i hit a day like i did today. it sucks. but whatever. i have to think of everything that makes me happy. being healthy. exercising. eating right. you fine june babes ;) don't think that i forgot about you guys!

anyway, i think that i am going to head off to bed right now. or something. i can't stare at this computer screen anymore!

Good evening ladies. I had my 3rd day OP, got my 3.5 miles walk in today and I'm feeling pleasantly relaxed and calm. Believe me, that's a big change. I'm usually uptight and grumpy  . It's really weird how a little exercise can clear your head and make you feel so energized, even when you're just sitting still. I used to be so sedentary that after eating dinner I would just give my son a bath then have a shower myself, then go to bed--I was so tired at the end of each day, and usually made myself go to bed by 8:30 pm. Now, I can stay up for hours! In fact, I'm usually hitting the sack between 10:30 and 11:00 pm and at that time I have to force myself to go to bed. Why can't I remember this feeling when I'm on the verge of putting something really fattening into my mouth?

Anyway just a few things....
*Jenifer, good job on exercising! Hope you had a great day.
*Kristen, kudos to you for sucking it up and exercising anyway despite the pain...you're doing awesome.
*Cristi, no day is a waste as long as you're alive...think about it :D
*Kristi, I was just telling my dad how we should all go and do the "Duck Tours" here in Hawaii. I think they have 3 different routes that show different parts of the island. Your field trip sounded like so much fun, and time spent one-on-one w/your child, that's extra special. I'd love to visit the place you just described. --Do you take piano lessons too? I play a little myself, but only took lessons for 4.5 years when I was very young. I just play to entertain myself, I'm not Liberace or anything  . Thanks for your sympathies about my friend, it helped a lot.
*Turtle you sound like you're well on your way to goal. Hope your weather improves there so you can enjoy your time outside. Thanks for the consolation about my friend too, I appreciate it.
*Michelle, you're lucky your hubby walks w/you. I have to beg mine to come along and then it's only about once a month that he'll go. He works long hours since he's self-employed...oh well, he helps me in other ways.
*Janine, good luck on teaching your boy how to sew. I think that'll serve him well in the future. Get this, my hubby can handstitch neater and faster than I can--so I let him
*Jen you must be busy getting ready for your trip. Hope things have smoothed out a little for you folks and your planning. I'd love to get away and drive across a couple of states...can't do that here.
*Raelyn, I forgot to mention yesterday that you helped out a wonderful cause, the Walk for Diabetes. My BIL was a co-chair for the walk here for a couple of years in a row. I missed the one this year though.
*Lynne how was your day?

Well, I gotta stop here and catch up w/some other gals...have a good night all!

Hi all!

I am glad to say I've had VERY positive results from my weekly weigh in. Firstly, I have lost another kilo! and on top of that, my measurements have shown great losses all over the bod, which has really boosted my motivation and confidence that this IS working and I WILL get to goal.

I went for a 45 minute walk, and have eaten well. Still learning about the pitfalls of not being careful in my planning of food - made myself some cheese herb grills, but made too many, forgetting that it would amount to too many points. But have learned my lesson, and won't do that again. Really cross with myself, because I'd made a promise that I won't go over points this week, so wasn't a very good start, but what I went over, I made up for with my walk, so I did break even. Tomorrow, I'll be more careful!!!

Also discovered that I'm not drinking enough water, which is wierd for me, cos normally I go through heaps, but it's cos I'm at home, and don't have a glass permanently at my elbow like I do when I'm working at a desk.... So my other challenge this week is to make sure I drink enough....

I'm joining Josh's class on an excursion into the city to go to the museum tomorrow. One of the joys of being at home is that I can be more involved with Josh's activities. I'm also planning on helping out in the canteen, and last night I took Josh to Joey Scouts, and got pulled in to help there! Marc doesn't drive yet, which is why he ends up staying home looking after Bec while I'm out driving Josh about. Gets annoying sometimes, but until we can afford for Marc to get lessons, I'm the chauffeur of the family!

See ya tomorrow!

06-05-2003, 02:09 PM
Cristi, Great job on the 2.5 miles. When I say a day is a freebie I rarely change my mind and then go to bed thinking why didn't I at least do something. Good for you!

Kristen, Yeah for you! You made a great choice to exercise when you were down in the dumps. It usually helps plus anythings better than wallowing in the blues. YGG! Hope your feeling better today.

Jenifer, June's looking great for you, keep up the good work!

Noelle, You sound so energized your 'gizing me girl! My oldest daughter is the only one taking lessons at this point. I would like to also, but the cost is holding me back at this time. Not that it's overly expensive, but being a stay at home mom I really feel the need to justify expenditures on myself. Until I read your post to Jen I was thinking how totally awesome it must be to live in HI, but I now realize it's pretty great living in the states too. A 14 hr. drive at almost any time of year takes you to a different climate. Makes want to head out on the road right now!!

Lynne, It sounds like you're really on top of things to not only make your goal, but to keep these changes for life. WTG! Just curios, at what age do most people start to drive in Australia? Here ib the US you can obtain a license at age 16 and in our area few teens make it to 17 without getting theirs!!

Went to school today to see 9 yr. old and 7 yr. old in a talent show. They do one on this day every year and then they have a picnic lunch outside, because tomorrow they have only 2.5 hrs. of school. DH was actually able to get away from work and come along. I'm so happy school is out, but I know in about 5 weeks I'll be on here saying how I can't waite for school to start!!! Right now I miss spending leisurely days with them. We even opted out of swimmimg lessons the past 2 summers. They all swim just as weel if not better than the kids who take lessons so why bother? One less place we have to be on time to! Leaving now for the park with my 3 yr. old. That'll give me 2 miles for the day. I won't post until I've done them though. Have a great day all.

Hi all you fabulous June Babes! :)

Okay, today was a total free day from exercise. For real this time! I had a lot of running around to do so by the time I got home I just said heck with it. And I won't be doing any tonight like I did last night. You know though it did feel pretty good doing a walk last night after I said I was taking a free day. I was walking last night when hubby got home from work and said something about it being very hot in the corner (entry way) where the treadmill is and guess what he did today? He went and bought a fan to put in front of the treadmill so I wouldn't get so hot, ahh. I thought that was so sweet. It gets really :hot: in that corner even with the air and ceiling fan going.

Lynne, WTG on your loss! :bravo: You are doing so good. I don't know what I would do if my hubby didn't drive. My dd is 19 and doesn't drive. She has a permit but has no desire to drive at all. I have a niece and a friend who don't drive either. My niece is scared to death to drive and my friend wants to but is waiting for her hubby to teach her. I honestly don't think he wants her to drive so that he has more control over her. Well, hope you and Josh have a GREAT time at the museum tomorrow.

Kristen, WTG! I to was feeling the same yesterday but ended up doing a walk afterall and it felt good.

Well, I am getting off this thing. I shouldn't be on in the first place with the storm we are having.

To everyone else, Kristi, Noelle, Jenifer, Jen, Raelyn, and anyone else I may have missed hope you all had a good day and hope everyone has a better tomorrow! :grouphug:

JUNE GOAL: 50 Miles

3.5 miles today so that makes a total of 15 this month! woo woo. These last few days have been sooo busy busy busy but hopefully life will calm down a little by Sunday and I'll have time to post a longer message. but congrats to everyone cuz it sounds like you are all doing a great job!

06-06-2003, 12:22 PM
Cristi, How thoughtful of your hubby. It always feel good to know you have support.

Jenifer, Great job on your exercise again, hopefully you'll find time over the weekend for a little extra shuteye!!

Turtle, You're doing awesome!

As for me was able to do another 2 miles at 8pm last night and at 8am this morning. Last nights walk was awesome. Going just at dusk like that I was treated to seeing 8 deer even one buck which are much harder to spot. Most of them were within 50 ft. of the bike trail (which runs right through corn fields) and 2 were actually on the trail and stayed there until I was right up on them. My dog is a terrier mix of some kind (looks like a small sheep dog or a big "Benjie") and has no desire to run. He just looks at them like he too is admiring them. Good thing since I walk him with no leash being so rural. This morning my 3 yr. old tagged along in the "radio flyer" and we were blessed with many bunny sightings plus we got back to the house just as it started to rain. I'm glad I got extra in, because the kids are all done with school at 10:30 this morning and then were all going shopping and I just know I'll be tempted going out for lunch.

Have a great weekend all!

Just checking in with a quick HI to EVERYONE!

Today has gotten off to a great start for me. I have gotten a 2 mile walk in so far and plan on doing 2 more in between doing laundry and cleaning. Eating is good as is water. I have decided to stick with just the 4 16.9 oz bottles of water a day and if I should happen to drink more then hooray for me. But I will drink the 4 for sure. I have been lax with the water drinking and journaling, something I really need to stick with and am going to, that and taking my vitamins. I have slipped with the vitamins, not sure why as they are sitting on the kitchen counter in a basket. I just never think to take them. I am hoping to see a loss come Monday morning weigh in. I know I have said I was going to go to weighing in twice a month but I don't think that is going to happen. I am dying to get on those scales now but I will wait till Monday morning.

Kristi and Turtle, WTG on your walking! :bravo: You ladies are doing an awesome job! :cb:

Jenifer, don't feel bad. We all have days and even weeks like that. I know I have anyway. Just take care of yourself and do what you can when you feel up to it. :grouphug:

Well, I hope EVERYONE is having a GREAT Friday! :grouphug: I will check back later when I finish my walking for the day and edit my post. Later...

June Goal~75 miles
Miles 6/05/03~zero
Miles 6/06/03~3.5
Total Miles 6/03~14.76 miles
Miles to go~60.24 miles

P.S. Ended up doing just an additional 1.5 miles instead of another 2, which is fine. Just was too busy with things.

Kristen, good job on your walk! You are doing a fantastic job.

Well, I am outta here for the evening. Hope EVERYONE has a wonderful weekend! :grouphug:

hello babes

i missed you all yesterday. i had nothing to post yesterday since i didn't walk. it's my wonderful tom.... and i ended up getting it yesterday... EXTREMELY BAD. i felt so weak. but i'm feeling alright today. a little sore in the lower back... but besides that, i'm alright.

i ended up walking tonight around the lake in wakefield. i love that place, but the bugs were so bad out tonight. i felt like if i breathed through my mouth that i was going to swallow a dozen. i've never seen it like that before. but i had a good walk. i felt a little stiff and a little bloated, but it was a good time. i realize that when i walk around the track i'm more focused on how fast i walk, etc. this was more like a leisurely thing. which is still good, so i can't complain. so another 3 miles walked for me today! yippee. just 57 more to go!

i think i can .... i think i can.... :) :D

Just wanted to come on here real quick and wish you all a wonderful walking week.. I don't think I'm going to make my vacation goal, but that's okay. I have to get up in 4 hours to finish packing everything into the motor home. Then we will be leaving at 6 am. My sis decided not to go, so I think everybody is going to have a good time including her.

I will post again once I get back. You all have an awesome week.

Happy Saturday everyone! I don't know why but I'm getting so lazy about posting...I am walking though, it's just that there's sometimes not enough time in the day to everything I wanna do and in the evening, well, I have to arm-wrestle hubby for the use of the computer  . I had a great morning so far, went for a bit longer walk today, I'm gonna say 4 miles since I extended my regular route to go around a whole half of a golf course, and I ran into a dear old childhood friend--we got to walk and chat for quite a ways. That has put me in a good mood for the day.

I have to get upstairs and give my boy some breakfast, but I'll check back and catch up w/you ladies in a bit. Have a great weekend. :dancer:

I was doing soooo well today. Staying within points, doing my aerobics.... not bad for someone who wanted to eat everything in sight, BUT DIDN'T! :D However, went to my parents' for dinner, and was ok right up to when mum brought out the choccy pudding! DOH!!! Just as well I DID do the aerobics!

I'm off to bed. Fingers crossed for a good night's sleep. Baby has just been fed, so hoping she'll not need to stir till morning.

I WILL get through tomorrow on points!!!

Hi all, I had a great time at my parties and managed to only go over by about 400 cals. (the 2 drinks I had) It was hillarious I took an insulated sports "mug" with me full of water and just kept sipping it at the first party. I was a bartender for 11 yrs up until 10 yrs. ago, so there are some people that still expect me to drink shots etc. so when someone finally asked me what I was drinking I just told them it was something I'd poured myself at home. There were actually people commenting on how silly I was getting and how they wished they had some of what I had to drink. What a hoot! When late in the evening everyone was having shots of "I'm going bananas over you" I had a couple and then headed home. My husband was hysterical with laughter over my little deception. Anyway, I got in only 1.75 miles for today very slowly because my 6 yr. old came with me. It was nice though, she pointed out loads of things I would normally zoom passed and since I carried her for 1/4 mile I figure it evens out. Having a nice lazy day pretty sure to go over cals. again today, but tomorrows another day. Hope you're all havinga good one!

hello babes

what's going on with you all? i hope that you had a wonderful weekend. my weekend was pretty good. i saw a couple friends that i haven't seen in a while. one of them knew i joined ww. and she was really excited to see me. she's like "oh my God... you look great." which made me feel absolutely ecstatic. :D we ended up hanging out all day and saw "the italian job". it was a pretty good movie. i recommend it.

so yesterday was weigh - in. since i was steady last week, i really just wanted to see some sort of loss this week. and i got it. 1.4! woo hoo! 23.8 total. just 1.2 more to 25. i am hoping that it's this week, but if it's not... i'm sure it will be next week!

today i ended up walking around the lake in wakefield. i went the opposite way of what i normally go... and let me tell you... it changed things up a bit. it was tougher at the beginning and not so bad at the end. but it was good all around. so chalk me up for another 3 miles. yesterday i really didn't get much in. maybe a half mile. MAYBE. but i even doubt that!

noelle - great job on the walking! 4 miles! woo hoo... and you got to bump into a childhood friend! what could be better?

jenifer - try not to get upset over the .8 gain. i'm sure you'll be able to make some changes to what you're doing and be able to lose the gain and then some! :)

lynne - pudding can get me everytime! at least you have a good attitude about it all!

kristi - very funny story about your parties! i'll have to think of that next time... although i may not be able to pull it off as well as you! ;)

til next time....

Man do I sound like a broken record. I didn't do my walking on the treadmill today but and this is a big but I helped work a car show all day. Left the house at about 8 this AM and didn't get home till about 4:30PM. I sold almost $300 worth of food tickets at $1 each and $256 in 50/50 split tickets. I also helped with the door prizes and registration. I was on my feet almost the whole time. My feet are killing me and I am NOT gonna walk on that treadmill!
I do have to say I behaved myself witht he food! I had a Carb Solution bar (it was nasty and I will never buy one of those again) for breakfast along with 2 cups of coffee with sugar. Lunch was 1 hot dog and a bottle of Pepsi One. I had a snack of 1 oz of Sun Chips after I got home then I had a Lean Cuisine Spaghetti with tomato sauce for supper.

I did some more gardening today. It's really starting to take shape.. well in my mind anyway! Also got my walk in. Just wish this backache would rack off! I've had it for years, and sometimes when I do things like washing dishes or gardening it really gets triggered off. It makes my walking really uncomfortable sometimes. Although my extra weight isn't the cause, it certainly doesn't help. I saw an article on tv tonight about a ground breaking treatment that has been around for a few years that apparently fixes it with one shot of steroid straight into the pelvic region of your back. I'm gonna suss it out tomorrow - sounds almost too good to be true!

Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be quite nice, so I've got some major weeding to do. Would you believe that new garden I planted about 4 weeks ago is already innundated with soursob weeds! REALLY glad I'm not working at the moment - I'd never be able to keep up!!!

Kristi, I think what you did for your party was a CLASSIC! It just goes to show that you don't have to drink, or get drunk, to have a good time. So many people look at you as if you've got a brick missing if you don't drink at parties. I certainly will remember that trick next time! :bravo:

Kristen, :cp: on the loss!!!!!! It must be soooo exciting being so close to goal, and having so much behind you! Well done!!!

Janine, congrats on such a success with all your sales! Sounds like you did enough to keep you busy!!! Being on your feet all day moving around might be mild exercise, but it still counts! It sure beats sitting on a couch all day! ;)

Jenifer, no matter how hard I try, it's not very often that I get to bed early. Josh doesn't go to bed till 8pm, and then there's dishes and stuff to do before I even get to sit down on the puter and catch up with all my weight loss stuff! Mind you, I've managed to get in early tonight - it's 8.45pm and I'm hitting the sack in about 15 minutes - I won't know what to do with all that sleep! What's an elliptical machine? Well done on your exercise! And don't worry about the small gain - it could just be all that muscle forming from all your exercise! Marc read today that you don't lose as much weight in cold weather either, cos your body retains water. Guess it doesn't get sweated out as much or something.... Guess I'm really stuffed then - I've got TOM coming up and it's bloody freezing!!!

Wel, I've just had my cup of hot chocolate, and off to bed with a good book. It's getting colder at nights, so all I want to do is snuggle down and not move!!!!! Mind you, we don't experience winter anywhere near as cold as you guys do. brrrr!

Night all!

Kristen, How wonderful of your friend to comment, it's always nice to get positive feed back. Great job on your loss!

Janine, It sounds to me like you had a very active weekend and did a great job on your food (thanks for the heads up on those carb. bars ) I think it's very imp. to count any and all activity as execise not just the "contructive" type. It's an active lifestyle we want to lead not a tied to the treadmill lifestyle! What kind of car do you and your honey show?

Jenifer, WTG on that elliptical trainer! They look like sooo much work. I hope you're not still fretting over that .8 pounds, I just know you'll see a loss this week you're always so active and doing so good.

Lynne, I am so enjoying corresponding with you! Having you talk about your weather and stuff really broadens my world and helps me to remember just how big this planet we live on is. My garden too is full of weeds, I'm heading out soon to run the roto tiller between the rows. I know it's the lazy woman's way out!! Keep up the great work, you're doing awesome!

As for me, I managed to do a 6 mile bike ride last night. My first of the year. I haven't gotten far enough into today to know what I'll be doing. I have the 3 oldest children cleaning house right now. I told them I wasn't tote'n 'em to town to the pool if they didn't help around here! The old one hand washes the other theory. I think with the children home now I'm going to try to have our larger meal at lunch time rather than the eve to see if that helps move anything. Well have a great mon. Babes!

Hi Ladies!

I was supposed to go out of town this week but had a change of plans. A dear friend of mine from CA is going through a divorce and her soon to be ex will be moving to Arkansas. Well, he will have the kids for a month this summer and she can't stand to be away from the kids for that long so she will be making a trip there to visit and we are planning to spend a few days together. So rather than go there this week I have postponed my trip for a few weeks.

Well, today was weigh in and I am down 1.5 lbs.! YIPPEE! Finally I am seeing a loss every week, well, this week and last week. So, maybe I will make my June goal afterall. I have 5 lbs. and 3 weeks to go. I hope I haven't made my goal too high. I haven't gotten my walk in for the day yet but plan on doing no less than 3 miles and will edit this post later.

Sounds like everyone is doing fine.

WTG Kristen on your loss! :cb:

Jenifer, I bet anything your gain is muscle so I wouldn't fret too much over it. You have been doing such a great job with your walking and exercising. Between you and Noelle you have got me very curious about the elliptical. Sounds like you are doing fine with it.

Kristi, loved the story about your party! I will have to remember that one.

Janine, you may not be getting on the treadmill but you are definitely getting a workout. The main thing is you are moving and that's all that matters. It has to count for something. WTG on the sales! :cb:

Lynne, you are working so hard on your garden! I would love to see a pic. I can understand your back hurting, gardening is hard work.

Hope EVERYONE is having a great Monday! Take care. :grouphug:

June Goal~75 miles

Hey Cristi great job on another loss. You are doing awesome. WTG. Your friend sounds lucky to have you at such a time in her life. God bless you!

I ended up having a great day today. My 3 yr. old was off at work with DH so it was just me and the 3 older ones who got to go the local pool. The rule is 6 yrs. old and up can be left without a parent so I dropped them and hit the bike trail for a 4 mile walk. I was able to walk a new section since I got on the trail in town. It was very pretty, but almost a little scary at first. For much of the walk the trail is very isolated from society. The trail is seperated from the highway by about a mile plus one of WI larger rivers flows there as well. I met just two men while out there, but it occured to me there was no place to go for help if needed. Beautiful rocky bluffs on one side and the river on the other. Of course there was no need to worry and I figure the more times I walk it the more comfortable I'll get. Silly I know!!! Anyway, when I was done walking I returned to the pool and swam laps for 20 min. during adult hr. It was great, the pool has a 150 person capacity and I was the only one it. The life guard just laid on the diving board. My muscles felt so awesomely (is that a word?) relaxed. I felt so good I even took the kids out after supper. 2 on bikes and 2 walking and did another mile. Thanks again to all of you for getting me back in gear!

Kristi, I would have to say you definitely got your work out today! :cp: WTG! Geez you tired me out just reading your post! :flow1: That is so cool, you had the swimming pool to yourself. I bet that rarely happens. :) Keep up the good work, you keep going like that and you are going to pass your goal for the month real quick.

I am outta here for the evening after I read a couple of threads. i have been so sleepy the last few evenings and am going to try and turn in before 1 am. Hope everyone is having a GREAT evening. :grouphug:

Cristi, Thanks for the kudos!! the pool my family swims in is located in a village with a pop. of just over 1,000. There are 3 towns aprox. this size within 5 miles of my home and each maintains it's own puplic pool so it really is more rare to have company during adult hr. than to have the pool to yourself. There are perks to "little" cities.

Jenifer, You are doing just awesome on that new machine of yours.YGG!!You keep this up and onederland is definitely right around the next corner. I visited my sister on Sun. and not only did she have her first new hairstyle in a dozen years, but she also told me she had her first boyfriend in the same number of years!!! ( she was divorsed in '91) The guy she's dating is a long time friend so I'm hoping for all the best. So, all in all I'd say she's doing really good. Thanks for asking.

Kristen, Be good to your feet and they'll take you everywhere you want to go!

It started out rainy and ucky here so I did 3.25 WATP miles, but then around 3pm the sun came out really nice so I took the 3 older children to the pool and the 3 yr. old hit the bike trail for another 2 miles with me. All 4 played in the park where the pool is while I swam at adult swim again. I did laps continuously for 25 min. (5 min. ) longer than last night and all alone again. Sweet! This is so my time of year. When the weather is warm at least most days I love to exercise and don't feel bogged down by it, because I've always loved the outdoors. It's the cold I really don't like. I'm having more thoughts of relocation!!! I should learn to enjoy cross country skiing or something. Oh yeah, you have to do that outside in the cold. Brrrrrrr!
You're all doing awesome. Keep up the good work!

Noelle, Here's hoping everything's good with you!

Kristen, I have no doubt you will keep up the 3 mile walk a day. You are doing an awesome job!

Kristi, Glad to hear your sister is doing fine, and WTG for her firsts! A new do and boyfriend! Good for her! And WTG with your walking and swimming. I am a little jealous that you get the pool to yourself, that would be so great! We too live in a small town and they are getting ready to build a new complex with pool but I know it will be full of kids as all the pools are around here. We lived in a gated community in CA and we had a community pool with a park also, and I would take the kids a few times a week during the day. There was never anyone there usually, sometimes 1 or 2 people but when people started getting home from work and on the weekends you could hardly get in the place. But it was nice.

Jenifer, my friend lives in Saugus, CA (Santa Clarita) It's north of LA, close to Magic Mountain. She's fine with this divorce and all. She was going to try to stay together for the sake of the children and try to wait till they went off to college, the oldest is 8. But things just went downhill fast and she decided if he wanted a divorce he could have it. She couldn't live like that any longer. Anyway, do you like your elliptical? Good luck with your WI Saturday. I am sending you some good vibes. :goodvibes: :goodvibes:

Lynne, Noelle and Janine, hope you ladies are doing fine today. I always feel like I am forgetting someone so if I have PLEASE forgive me. I know I didn't mention Jen but she is on vacation and I hope she is having a GREAT time!

I have yet to do my walk for the day but the day is not over. I plan on doing 3 miles but will edit my post later just to make sure. I may get lazy and only do 2. My eating is good, but I am out of the bottled water and REFUSE to drink the faucet stuff. it really is bad. Of course I did buy groceries this morning but didn't realize I was out till I got home. I am going to have hubby pick some up on his way home until I get to Sams on Friday. They have 32 16.9 oz bottles for 5.88 which is not bad at all so we have been getting 4 of those. We go to Sams every three or four weeks that's why we get so much. Okay, I am outta here for now. Take care ladies and have a good day. :grouphug:

Jenifer, You're totally hot! I just know Sat. is going to be a happy WI day. YGG!!

Kristen, Weather's bad here too, we can cry together. (all clouds and only 60* ) hellooo, it's June 11th!!!

Cristi, Is there ever a time we get home from shopping and we've actually picked up everything we need?

I finally had my dr. apt. today so the lady who's afraid of the scale has had to weigh 3 times in 12 days aaahhh!, but it was great news. I've dropped 2 more pounds. Putting me at only 2 to go for my June goal!!! It's the added exercise, because my eating hasn't been that great so that sun better get out again tomorrow so I can get back to the pool! I did 2 miles on the trail today. I should've gone the opposite way, because it was a real drag by the time I got back. I'll try to change up the scenery tomorrow. You all have a good night!

06-12-2003, 01:37 AM
Kristi, WTG on your loss!! :cb:  :bravo: You know the funny thing is I always have a list too, and I always forget something! Of course water wasn't on my list though.

Just wanted to say that and hope you and Kristen have better weather ahead for ya.

See all you ladies tomorrow. :)

:) Hi! Ok where is everyone hiding at? Noelle, Turtle, Michelle, Raelynn, Caledon????? Noelle most of all I hope things are fine. I know where I live the summer is here and no more school. Whoohoo!
Kristen your doing great! Keep it up! Your mileage is getting high! YA! ;)
Cristi glad to hear your friend is doing good with the divorce. My Mom lives down in Southern Ca so I do that drive sometimes. It takes 6 1/2 hours. Yikes! :D
Kristi WTG on your 2 pounds! Doctor scales are so much more truthful than home scales! :dizzy: Your doing awesome on your exercise! :) I bet the kids are enjoying all the fun with you!
I ended up not walking tonight but I rode my bike for 2.5 and then did my elliptical for 20 minutes again. The elliptical is nice and each day it gets better. I can't wait to see results after a couple weeks. I will be doing my walking I just wanted something different to do. The weather is nice here, we do have the wind though. Riding the bike against the wind wasn't very much fun more of a serious workout!
Take care and have a good Thursday!

Jenifer, glad to hear you like your elliptical. I am really wanting to get one but have no where to put it so it will have to wait. You are doing great with your workouts. Exercise is exercise so it's okay to skip walking once in a while. I have decided to have a free day from now on and that is Sunday, we'll see how that goes. I have gotten in the routine of exercising and I feel odd or lazy and guilty if I don't do it. But I definintely have Sundays set aside for a free day. I am sure you hubby will be fine at the track. Don't you hate worrying? Sending you some good vibes :goodvibes: :goodvibes: :goodvibes:

Kristi, Sorry to hear your day isn't going so good. It's awful when you have those days when you can't please everyone, I do know the feeling. :grouphug: Hope your day gets better as it progresses. :) :) :) :) :)

Well, I managed to get my exercise in early this morning. I did a 25 minute bike ride and a 3.5 mile walk. I feel so energized I may end up doing another mile before the day is over. I wish I could go outside and walk. It's only been in the 80's the last few days but the humidity is HORRIBLE! :yikes:

Hi to everyone else who is MIA! Hope you ladies are having a wonderful day, and hope to hear from you all soon. :grouphug:

Thanks Cristi! Sometimes being the mom seems so lonely. My honey's in a better mood so things are looking up. WHen the hubby's owly it so infiltrates everything between me and the kids too. I hate that!! I did get another 2 miles in alone and had the nicest visit with my mom I've had in quite some time. so all in all the day isn't rounded out too bad. You are doing just awesome on your exercise I think taking Sun. off is a wonderful idea. Making a 5# loss my goal for June is making me afraid to take a free day. I usually only lose about .5 per week. High stakes are not my forte I like sure things.

Have a great day all!

Kristi I am sending you big hugs for today! :grouphug: Your really doing great on your activities! Keep pressing on!
Cristi your doing great with your walking. After my Weigh In on Saturdays I usually get Taco Bell or something like that. I'm weird like that. I have talked to many women and they usually do a free day and still lose. I am sure I would lose faster if I didn't but at least I stay sane (thing that is how ya spell it). What days do you WI again?
My dh just got home from his day at the track! Thank goodness! He had a blast and wants me to go next time he decides to go again (probably next month). Well I am going to try and get him to go walking with me!

hey babes! :D

hope all is well for you guys! i'm doing pretty well myself. i wore this dress today that i like a lot. and i realize that when i wear things that i like... i tend to feel better about myself. not that i wear things that i hate... but when there are particular articles that i wear...i just feel good about myself. like i feel more fit or healthy or something. anyone else get that way?

i ended up walking the tufts track again tonight. it did a little drizzle but nothing too crazy. i actually walked 4 miles this time. i didn't walk any yesterday, so i wanted to make up at least something. i probably won't get a chance to walk tomorrow either. bummer. but i'll be sure to make it up this weekend. maybe 4 miles both days! i like walking the tufts track. i feel like such a regular. there's this guy that runs sometimes there. no idea who he is... but i swear... he has the BEST calves i have ever seen in my entire life! they're just cut perfectly! and i love calves.. so it all works out. i want to keep walking just to see his calves again! dorky, i know. but whatever works, right? ;)

Hi ladies, it's me the posting slacker...sorry I've been absent here on the thread but I've been in a little blue funk which I haven't been able to shake. I've been doing great on my walking which really helps to clear my head. Eating's so-so but today I had a great OP day. I'm looking to get back into my groove and stay there until I lose some weight. Right now I think I should be concentrating on maintaining and not gaining. I haven't had time to read all the previous posts but I'm glad you gals are keeping up with the thread. I think about you guys while I'm walking and am thankful to have you all here--sorry to be neglecting y'all. I think I'm using you as a cyber-shoulder to lean on for the time being. Thanks for your concern about my well-being Kristi, Jenifer and all the others :grouphug: .

Jenifer, you asked about my elliptical? While you're enjoying yours, I've been neglecting mine  . I do need to get back on it though. I've used it when I wasn't able to walk outside but walking's just easier  . I know I should challenge myself and get some different muscles working...it's just a matter of doing it.

Well, it's been a long day, HELLO and HUGS to the rest of you. I promise to pop in and catch up more tomorrow. See you then :) .

Jenifer, glad to hear hubby did fine at the track. I too would have been worried. I weigh in on Monday and with this being TOM I am dreading the big WI.

Kristen, I do know what you mean. A while back (a few years ago) I was so lazy I quit fixing myself up and I find that wearing a little bit of makeup, fixing my hair and wearing something I really like does make me feel better about myself, makes me feel pretty. WTG on walking 4 miles! :cb: Okay, I have to say this, are you sure it's the guys calves you are looking at? ;) The  made me do it! And no it's not dorky.

Kristi, hope you have a great swim today.

Noelle, don't worry about it. We will be here for you when you feel up to posting. :grouphug: It is understandable being in a funk considering you lost a dear friend. It is going to take a while to fully realize the true impact losing someone has on you. It's good you are keeping up with your walking because as you said it clears your mind and that is always a good thing.

As for me, today is apparently going to be my free day rather than Sunday. I had too much going on today and this evening isn't going to be much better so I haven't gotten in my walk for the day. It doesn't look like I will either. I may try for a mile or 1.5 miles this evening but it is going to be late. So I will leave my miles for today open till later. I had to be out and about and had lunch at Taco Bell. I decided to try one of those Chicken Enchilada Bowls thinking it can't be that many points or calories. WRONG! I got home and looked Taco Bell's web site just to see. YIKES!! :yikes: :fr: They have 790 calories with 39 grams of fat! :fr:I don't even want to know what the points would be, probably off the scale! I will NEVER get one of those again. Definintely stick with the chicken soft taco.

Well, I hope EVERYONE is having a wonderful Friday. Talk to ya soon. :grouphug:

June Goal~75 miles

P.S. Just checking in one more time this evening. I didn't end up doing a walk today and thought I would post this. I will trade my free Sunday for today. As long as I get one free day from exercising that is my goal. I just thought Sunday sounded the best. Also, Jenifer, good luck with your weigh in tomorrow morning.

06-14-2003, 12:16 AM
Hi Babes! Oh Noelle I was so glad to see your post! :grouphug: Big hug from all of us! I hope that all is well and your doing okay. :) Your still kickin butt on the walking! Great job!
Cristi I start ToM sometime next week and I am not sure if that will affect my weigh in tomorrow. I just feel better and I know that is all that matters for now. I have to still admit I would love it if that scale showed a loss.   Yeah I will only eat the Tacos at Taco Bell when I go on a NO free day. Tomorrow after weigh in a splurge. :dizzy:
Krisit I'm sure you had a great time at the pool! WHoohoo! :) :)

Well nothing really planned for the weekend except preparing for a camping trip next weekend. I can't wait it has been a while since we went camping. Have a wonderful weekend! Think I will get some yard work done though.
Send me some skinny vibes for this Weigh In!

hello all! :) :) :) :)

big smiles for me today! :D i just got back from weigh in... and ANOTHER 3.8 pounds gone! :) down 27.6 now! i got my 25 pound magnet. go me! i'm so thrilled. and very surprised, because i only walked/exercised 4 times this week. when generally i do about 6. oh well. apparently i made up for it in the eating. those veggies really do help out! and water!!

i didn't get to walk yesterday. it was miserable out, plus i attended a party. one of the girls that i haven't seen in a year or two said that i was looking fantastic and was "glowing" wheni walked in!!! hopefully today i can get a walk in. i've gotten bad sleep the past couple days. i feel like i need to rest a little bit more. we'll see though. i'll have to post later.

Hi everyone! Hope you all are having a wonderful and fun weekend! :) :) :)
Kristin! AwEsOmE!!! :cb: :cb: :cb: 3.8! YA! WTG! I had Weigh In today and lost 2.4 makes it a total of 14 pounds so far! I am a happy girl!
Well I did the elliptical for 20 minutes last night and plan to do yard work today and then do some type of workout tonight. Walk or elliptical I'm not sure?
To all you Babes have a great weekend! ;)

06-14-2003, 04:05 PM
Kristin and Jenifer WTG babes on your losses! :cb: :bravo: :high:
I know you both are on :cloud9: You both are doing fantastic with your losses, keep on truckin!

Kristin, WTG also on getting your 25 pound pin! :bravo: That is a great accomplishment.

I am hoping to see a loss Monday but with TOM not so sure. I haven't gotten any exercise in yet. I had planned on doing a walk this morning but having given in to some of the cravings this week my stomach and back are killing me, that's what happens when I eat crap the week before. I am going to take some tylenol that usually helps and then get on that treadmill. I don't think it will be a long walk today though but I suppose a short walk is better than nothing at all.

Hope everyone is having an awesome day. :)

Hey ladies. Good job on all your losses!!! You know who you are :D . I'm heading out the door to do some last minute shopping for Father's Day--didn't get anything for hubby yet (bad me! ) . I got a great morning walk in this morning all by my lonesome--clocked 4 miles in just over and hour and a half. A bit slow for me but I was checking out all the beautiful golf course homes that are available on the market. Since the mortgage interest rates are at an all-time low, a lot of houses are up for sale--sellers are asking big bucks though. The house I looked at was just a hair under $585K :yikes: . I don't have that kind of dough but I like to fantasize that one day I'll have a beautiful home like that of my own. Well ladies, take care of your dads and DH's tomorrow. Have a great weekend. :grouphug:

Hi Babes! I had a great weekend how about you all? I did get too much sun while doing yard work yesterday. Noelle those homes sound beautiful! I've never been to Hawaii but I hear it is beautiful! Were you born and raised there?
Just got back tonight from doing my 2.5 miles route. I just feel so good and look foward to walking or any kind of activity. Amazing huh? I am getting a little nervous b/c I start class tomorrow night (Mon. & Wed.) 6:30-9:30. :dizzy: Guess I'm afraid I'm not going to get enough exercise in. :( I am going to try my hardest to get it in though. I'm sure you ladies will all help me anyways! :) :) :) Well I might not be on as much but I will keep you all updated on my walking! Have a great week!

Hi all!

I'm writing this off line, as I don't have time to read everyone's posts tonight. I'm hoping I'll have a bit of free time tomorrow to sit down and catch up.

The last few days have been awful. I won't go into details, but had some problems on the home front, that knocked me for a six. I totally lost all energy and motivation, and didn't have any energy to worry about eating well or exercising. I feel like crap now because of it, and need to do some major detoxification!!!

I'm sure I've gained weight, which totally sucks, but gotta take the consequences! It goes to show that the urge to binge in times of stress is still with me. I did concede to my program and stuck to diet coke, but the rest of my choices were pretty bad. Although Marc has just pointed out that my binge this time was nothing compared to how I would've binged 2 years ago. I didn't do a big continuous binge, just didn't choose well when I had a meal. So I guess it could've been worse!

I'm going to crash now, as my body is still trying to recover from the stress, but hopefully a good night's sleep will find me refreshed and ready to repair the damage and move on,.

I've been thinking of you all, and wondering how you are. It's nice to know that you're all here for me when I'm ready to get back on the wagon! Thanks for being such good friends!

06-16-2003, 10:18 AM
Morning ladies! A big hug for you (((((Lynne)))))!!!!! :) Hope that your stress level is better and that your doing okay! I know that I am a stress eater and that is something that I have to work on from time to time.
Well this was just a quick check before I go to work! Have a great week ladies! :strong: :strong: :strong:

06-16-2003, 11:24 PM
Jenifer, Thanks for the big huggies it really helps! WHat kind of bike and what kind of track does your hubby ride? As for free days I always do something really high cal. NO nutrition after a loss. Dumb maybe, but...... this past week after my 2# loss I had a white chocolate and carmel cappacino. Bad I know, but oh so yummy.I see you're down another 2.4 # WTG. I knew that elliptical was really going to tip the scales for you. You've worked so hard. Excellent!! I hope your class was great. What are you studying again?

Kristen, Being a stay at home mom I totally relate with the clothes thing. Most days I schlep around in jeans and t-shirts w/no makeup. So whaen I dod od myself up I just feel awesome and then wonder why I don't do this more often. Aren't I worth it? Woohoo I see you're way down. Great job! Just keep chasing those calves.

Noelle, Great to have you back! Keep up the good work - try not to hide when you're blue, we're here for you.

Cristi, I just have to mention, you always write the nicest things. You just have the biggest heart! I'm so glad I'm knowing you.

Lynne, Sweet lady, I hate to hear you sound so sad. Bingeing when stressed is a hard thing to fight. I lose the battle often. Don't beat yourself up. Forgive yourself and step forward again. You've been doing terrific. We're here for you whether you on program or off. A big hug your way.

As for me, I lived SAt. and Sun. both like I never heard of a program before. SAt. an old friend got married and I had 4 drinkie poos and gave up no food for them and yesterday first I went to bakesale benefit for a young man who had a bad car accident. We bought 3 pies and 3 plates of cookies. I had a piece of each pie with ice cream and 2 cookies. To top it all off I haVEN'T EXERCISED SINCE sAT. Foods been good again today so I'm moving on. Besides both were good occasions and I don't live under a rock!! Had a great time on daddy's day. We took the kids to a little museum where the rooms were set up like a general store, a parlor, a music room etc... even though everything was 100 to 200 yrs. old there was something in almost every room the gude le t the kids play with. After that we toured an old lead mine. The children actually loved it!! They got to wear hard hats and be WAY underground and to top it off they got to ride a real train that was used inside the mine. I was so glad. These were things my husband wanted to do, but as anyone with children knows guided tours can be boring to little ones. I was so afraid one would mealt down, but they were all (even the 3 yr. old) really well behaved. So, I'm glad I didn't have to weigh in today, but I had a great weekend and tomorrow I will walk or bike or both, who knows? Have a great wek all.

hi girls! :)

how are all you babes? i'm doing pretty well. this weekend was a pretty good one for me. i got to see a bunch of people that i haven't seen in a while. :D and that is always nice... ya know?

but anyway... before i forget, i wanted to post my miles. i feel like i don't have a lot of time to make notes to everyone anymore. i feel bad. i promise to be better about it very, very soon. saturday i walked to and from a square that we have here in my city. it's about 1.5 miles away... so i did a good 3 miles! and then sunday... was beautiful... and i walked around the lake in wakefield. for another 3 miles. and tonight... i pushed myself to do 4 miles around the tufts track. no good calves tonight. :( but 4 miles is pretty damn good anyway! i really need to buy some new sneaks... i can feel them wearing away when i walk. it's time for a new pair. i owe it to myself... as a 25 pound present!

okay babes, i must get my beauty sleep. have a fantastic day tomorrow... hopefully it's going to be nice out where you are!

Hi everyone! How are all the BaBeS? My day was like this: wake up at 5:45 get to work at 7:30, get home 5:00 eat a healthy dinner and then school at 6:30-9:30 and got home a little before 10 did the elliptical for 20 minutes then shower and here I am 10:45! Not sure how much I'll be able to get out and walk but we'll have to see??? I want to make sure I get something in and still eat healthy with my crazy schedule on Monday and Wed.

Kristi my dh has a Suzuki GSXR1000 and he just does track days on the race track for fun. Glad things are going good for you with the kids and stuff! Oh the class is just a basic math class for summer school. I just need to get some type of degree not sure what yet just working on general education.

Kristen you are kickin butt on your walking! I'm sure you going to see a loss again! What type of shoe are you looking to buy? let me know!

Cristi how was your weigh in? (I think you wrigh in today???)

Does anyone know when Jen will be back from vacation?
Talk to you all later! Sorry So Short!

06-17-2003, 04:38 AM
Hey ladies. A quick post to update my mileage. I got in my regular route today 3.5 miles. Then quickly came home and ate too much dinner :ink: . Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

Kristi, congratulations on the new arrival to your family. She is a beautiful :bb: ! Hope mommy and baby are doing well. Babies are so precious. Glad to hear you had a great weekend, indulgences and all.

Kristen, congratulations again on your 25 lb loss--don't think I said "welcome to one-derland" . You're doing so well. Good sneakers are a must if you're to keep up with the walking. I really like my New Balance shoes, just my 2 cents.

Jenifer, you're such a busy gal--and you still make time for exercise. That's excellent. Little blocks of time over the course of the day add up--plus walking around to your classes are sure to burn some calories. You go girl.

(((Lynne))) hope tomorrow is better for you.

Hope everyone else is doing great. Have a good week all!

Hi guys. Thanks for the hugs - much appreciated!

I had a much better day today, but still didn't get round to the exercise. It's amazing how these days can affect you mentally, and you have to drag yourself out of the quicksand to get back on track. But definitely better today!

Will come in tomorrow with great news about lots of energetic exercise I'm sure!! :D

Kristen, WTG your miles are really adding up, awesome!

Jenifer, Phew! You're schedule made my head spin. Remember to plan, plan ,plan, your meals so you don't get caught short on time, you'll just do great!!

Noelle, Thanks for the welcome, mom and baby are both doing fine. They live about 90 miles from me, so I haven't held her yet, boo hoo!! We have plans with them for this weekend though, I can hardly waite. We're going to Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison for the "Feast With the Beasts" this is an annual fund raiser for it's a non profit zoo. For the meager sum of $15 / family we will be entertained by 5 different bands plus like 10 different resteraunts, Italian, Thai, cajun, etc... let you eat for 6 hrs. straight. I'm trying to save a few cals. each day this week in anticipation. I think it's going to be a good thing I dropped 3# so early in the month

Lynne, You headed down the right path once again yesterday, WTG !!

I was able to do the 1 and 2 mile WATP tapes today and am really hoping for a 6 mile bike ride tonight, but hubby has a meeting at 7pm so I don't know!? HAve a great Tues. all.

Update : 2 more miles on the bike trail. I've hit my June walking goal. Yippppeee!!!! Now I just have to get going on those bike miles.

06-18-2003, 03:58 AM
Hey ladies. I got my regular route of 3.5 miles in today. It was a bit more challenging (for my patience and stamina). I had to take my son along w/me. I first had to find a pair of shoes in the house that fit. He's 4 1/2 years old and boy do those feet grow fast! He's got to have 3 pairs of shoes at least, but I'll be darned if none of them fit--they were all too small. I swear I just bought some 2 mos. ago! My parents who normally watch my boy while I go out walking are getting ready for a 2 week vacation trip to San Diego and then onto Sacramento to visit family. I guess this was a practice run for me as far as bringing the boy along. I brought his stroller along just in case he got tired--he's much too tall for it, 42" when the limit is supposed to be 36"....but pushing 42 lbs around is definitely a workout. It's kind of fun to have him along he's such a chatterbox.

Lynne glad to hear your're feeling better. You'll be up to speed in no time.

Kristi you're "feast w/the beasts" sounds like such fun. I'm sure you'll have a great time. That's such a bargain too.

Well, I'd like to say hello to all of the rest of you... I need to get showered and then to bed. have a good night all.

06-18-2003, 01:51 PM
Noelle, I love to take my little guy along with me. He notices so many things I would just blow by on my way to the finish line. I always figure the extra weight you push or pull makes up for the slower pace. Some days though I just have to go alone to be with my thoughts. Big people are the ones I avoid walking with, so often they want to spend the time talking about problems or gossiping and both ruin my experience:?:

It's my 9th anniversary today and I woke up with TOM. Needless to say hubby will be thrilled:^: We have no real plans since we've been out the past 2 Sat. nights and 2 of the children have ball tonight, but that's ok. Me and the dog did 3 miles this morning and I was glad we did. I actually got so lost in thought I never felt as though I was doing more than 2. I kind of snapped out of it and I was almost home. I love it when that happens. Maybe that's kind of like runners high?!?!

Have a great day all.

Kristi, CONGRATULATION'S on the new addition to the family! :bb: She is adorable, and I absolutley love the name Daisy!! So cute! Of course I love daisies, the reason for the daisy avatar I had before and will probably change once again, but I thought it was silly to have a daisy with the evasivemarigold. I just haven't been able to find a marigold anywhere. I think I am going to use my doggies photo for an avatar, he is such a cutie! Anyway, makes me want one even more. We actually have been trying for about 2 years, no luck. :( Oh well, the way I see it if it was meant to be it will, if not I can live with it and am very blessed to have had 4. Hope you have a very HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! :hat: :gift:

Noelle, GLAD to see you back! :) So sorry to hear of your friends passing.

Jenifer, I know all too well about your crazy schedule. I did the school thing last summer and then over the fall/spring. While I thoroughly enjoyed it it got a bit overwhelming for me sometimes. Those 3 hours classes seem soooo very long sometimes. The funny thing is I think I want to go back and take some more classes. I feel like I am making myself a better person. Still don't have the dream job but I am smarter for going! Anyway, I hope you have a fun adventure. What kind of degree are you going for?

((((((Lynne)))))), glad to hear things are a bit better and you are getting back on track, WTG! :grouphug:

Kristen, WTG, keep up the good work. You are doing an awesome job with your walking. Of course now we know why, the calves! No really 25 pounds gone is AWESOME!:high:

Jen, where are you? For some reason I thought you were just going to be gone for a week, anyway I hope you are having a fantastic vacation!

Well, for me I am doing fine with the eating and walking and the water drinking. I only missed one day of walking, which was Sunday. of course I forgot to post my miles for the 14th. Instead of editing that post I am including it here. Haven't done my walk for today yet but as soon as I get off I will get to it. Will check in this evening and post it. Monday was weigh in and I was up 1.5 pounds but it's not a big deal. It's TOM so I attribute it to that and know next weigh in it will be gone plus some. I have just felt so bloated and fat the last few days because of TOM.

Okay, hope EVERYONE is having a GOOD day! Later...

P.S. Just checking in one last time. I didn't get a walk in today afterall. After I finally got off the computer I had a few things to get done and then sat down to watch some of Oprah and starting dozing and have been dozing since. :dz:  I would love to turn in early but I know that won't happen. I will see you ladies in tomorrow sometime, busy day tomorrow. :grouphug:

hello all you babes out there.

today was my nephew's first birthday! :gift: happy birthday joey! :balloons: my sister and brother in law planned a barbecue for the big occassion. so i took the day off and went down there. a much needed day off. and it was great seeing joey again! he's sucha cutie. i can't believe that he is ONE!

not to mention, that my brother in law's mom noticed i lost weight! :D woo hoo! i love that. it totally keeps me motivated. i ate very well today. had a burger and even a slice of carvel cake. it was a small piece... but i still had it! :) so i didn't deprive myself of anything.

let's see... i totally took the day off of any walking. my quads were absolutely killing me after my walk last night. i bought a discman last night and i wanted to try it out... so i walked with it with a cd that my friend made... and i told myself that i wasn't going to stop until it was all through. and ya wanna know what? that was 4 miles later! :o so today was a day off for me. it's kinda crappy out, anyway. :( tomorrow i'll be back on it... hopefully.

lynne - glad that you are feeling better! i'm sure you'll be back on your feet in no time!

kristi - happy 9th anniversary! :balloons: that's great. and great job on the walking with the dog!! what do you think about the watp tapes? they're a good alternative, i find. i only have the two mile one. that can keep my butt in gear, i tell ya. i'll have to buy the three mile one when i master the two.

noelle - children grow up ridiculously fast! looks like the little guy needs so sneaks. maybe i should take him sneaker shopping with me! i prefer new balance as well. there's an nb outlet just a half hour from me. i think i'm going to go hit it this saturday! btw. thanks for the welcome into onderland!!! i didn't think i'd be here this early.

cristi - tom really sucks! at least you realize that the gain at weigh in was because of that. good job with the walking. you're kicking some serious booty! wtg!

jenifer - sounds like you have some crazy days in there! excellent job at staying focused through it all. i find staying focused a challenge... and i don't even have that much going on! great job!

alrightie girls.... have a nice evening... chat tomorrow... :)

Hi ladies, just checking in for yesterday...I was so lazy yesterday and didn't walk. DH came home from work early for a change so I didn't want to leave the house, it's so rare that we get to sit down and have dinner together so i had to take advantage. And I have a confession to make. I went to the store yesterday after work with the sole intent of buying some chocolate chip cookies :ink: . I went, I bought, I ate :^: . SO that's off my chest (but onto my hips), and I feel bad, but hey I'll get over it. I WILL go out and walk this evening, I promise.

I do have a bit of positive news though, I measured my extended weekend route--you know the one I've been reporting as 4 miles? Well ladies, it's actually 5.2 miles! How 'bout them apples? I guess I'm a really bad judge of distance  . It takes me just over an hour and a half to and hour and 45 minutes or so which is why I only do it on the weekends, but I was really suprised and happy to find out the distance. Now if I could only get the eating part down again.

Kristi happy belated anniversary wishes and :hb: birthday wishes to your hubby. :gift: . Have fun today.

Jenifer, have a great time on your camping trip. I'm not too fond of the outdoors myself...I prefer camping hotel style ;) .

Kristen, happy belated b-day to Joey :hb: . You did great at the BBQ AND got complimented on the weight loss. That is definitely a great motivator to keep on trying ain't it?

Cristi, we all understand how there aren't enough hours in the day to do things sometimes. Take time to enjoy the flowers and most of all, take care of YOU.

Lynne hope you're having a great week.

Janine, what happened to Janine? Hope you're doing great as well.

Jen must be enjoying her trip w/family... maybe be back next week?

Any other ladies I may have missed, keep walking and stay healthy. I'll check you gals out later.

Thanks so much for thinking of me. I am reading but not doing good at all. I have lost all modivation to walk on my treadmill. :?: I am hoping that after school is over with I can get back to things. :^:
Weight wise I am holding my own. I keep going from 153 to 155 lbs. I have been trying to watch my diet and doing OK. Today for breakfast I had 2 cups of coffee with Splenda and lunch was a Chicken Ceaser salad from BK with Light Done Right Italian and a bottle of water. I have been trying to eat like this. Supper is probably gonna be Boston Market chicken with light sides. DH is gonna be late and I have been in a cooking slump. :yikes:

06-20-2003, 03:47 AM
Just a quickie to update my mileage, then off to hit the showers. have a good night all.

ps. Janine, no worries on your slump--maybe your body just needs time to adjust to this weight. Think about it this way--you've maintained over a 50 lb loss from your highest weight--that is totally awesome! You'll get your mojo back when the time is right. Keep on reading and posting. We need you here too.

Janine, It's so great to know you're still reading. Holding your own is totally something to be proud of. You're making terrific food choices something is bound to give soon. Hang in there and you'll be loving your tm again before you know it.

Noelle, How awesome to find out your route is so much longer than you thought. It makes you just want to go out and find a 6 mile route, doesn't it?

Kristen, Great job at the BBQ! I wish I had done as well out for dh's bday last night. I'm talking sampler platter to start plus an entree, but boy it was good! It was our first visit to "Damons". I'm going to meet my 8 day old grand niece tomorrow. I can hardly waite.

I drove to a different section of bike trail and did 4 miles tonight. It was a good thing I had planned 4 miles since I was not into it at all for at least the first 1.75 miles. Probably because I got started at 5pm and I usually walk around 7am, but I knew the way I ate last night and will eat at the "Feast With the Beasts" tomorrow that I had to get out there and do at least 4 miles. When I was done I felt better than I had all day so it wasworth it of course. Have a great weekend all, I sure hope Jenifer's having a blast camping!

Hi Ladies, Jenifer, Jen, Janine, Noelle, Kristi, Kristen & Lynne, I hope I am not forgetting anyone. Seems like I always do but not intentionally. I hope EVERYONE had a WONDERFUL Friday.

I had posted earlier but after typing this very long post when I clicked submit the computer locked up on me. UGH! I lost it, don't you hate that?! So I thought I would try later, this being later. :) Haven't been doing so good in the eating and walking department. I have been pigging out the last two days.:ink: :ink: :ink: Okay, let me clarify. I haven't been eating from dusk to dawn, just not making the right choices. This constant running is going to be the death of me. The last two days I have eaten fast food for all three meals, not good I know but tomorrow is a new day and I will be getting back on track. Haven't gotten any exercise in either except for today. I forced myself to walk. I don't like taking two days off from my walking for fear of getting lazy. But I surprised myself by getting in a little over 3 miles this evening, and had no problem. It actually felt good. Anyway, back on track tomorrow for sure especially with just a little over a week to make goal. Anyway, just wanted to post the miles walked and say hey to everyone. I changed my avatar to a cow because that is how I have been feeling the last two days, like a big cow, mooooooo! :moo: I need to the the avatar alone but I can't find one I really like. Okay, talk to you ladies tomorrow. Have a FANTASTIC weekend ladies!

hey girls

just gonna post my miles before i forget! after taking weds off, i walked around the tufts track again for another 3 miles. i was planning on walking friday night, but my nephew was over my parents house... so i decided to go over there and spend time with him. by the time i left, it was 930... and i really wasn't in the mood to go walking. but today, i had weigh in. woo hoo. down another 2.4! 30 total. such a nice round number. :) i felt like i lost weight, but i didn't think 2.4! so i was happy. then i went to famous footwear to buy some new sneaks. the ones i really wanted weren't there, so i bought the ones that i liked best. new balance 755s. and i already used them today. two miles on the tufts track! go me! anyway, i really need to get ready to go out. i hope you all are having a fantastic weekend. so far the weather hasn't been completely miserable. i hope this holds up.

JUNE GOAL: 70 miles

Well, yet again I didn't get on this treadmill. I was gone all day at another car show that we worked. I was on my feet almost all day. My whole body aches and I want to get in the tub for a long hot soak. I have DS#1 in there now and when he's done DS#2 will go in then it's my turn if there is any hot water left. :dizzy: I am really serious about getting back to excercising next week. Tomorrow we will be going to another car show but thankfully not one we need to work but will probably be doing alot of walking around so...
Diet wise my choices for today were:
1 slimFast meal bar
4 cups of coffee with Equal
1 roast beef sandwich on Kimmelwich and loaded with horseradish
1 grilled chicken salad with regular ranch dressing (didn't have low fat
3 - 20oz bottles of water

Evening ladies! :)

Kristen, that is fantastic! WTG on losing 2.4 pounds. :bravo: You are doing such a great job. Hope you had a nice visit with your nephew and your parents.

Janine, even though you are not walking on the treadmill you ARE getting the exercise in, and doing a GREAT job with your eating. WTG!

I have done swell today with the eating and with the walk. I surprised myself and walked 5 miles, and boy do I feel it! I don't think I have done a 5 mile walk, not sure. Anyway, just checking in to say HI to EVERYONE. and post my miles for the day.

Lynne, Jen, jenifer, Noelle & Kristi hope you all are having a great Saturday, what's left of it. See ya ladies :)

I woke up in such a GREAT mood this morning, and that hardly ever happens! I am not a morning person, I have to force myself to get up, but once I get up and going I am a happy camper. :)

I got a 3 mile walk in so far this morning. I say so far because I feel so energized for some reason and I have a feeling I will do another walk later. I hope this feeling lasts for days! :smug:

Hi to EVERYONE and I hope you ALL are having a SPECTACULAR Sunday!! Talk to ya later...:grouphug:

P.S. Just wanted to add another 1.5 miles to my miles for the day. I do believe I will pass up my goal this month.

No walking on the treadmill today but I wish I knew how much walking I really did at the car show today!!!!!!! I did alot of walking! We were sitting so far away from most everything and I think from about 10:30AM till 5:30PM I may have sat for a total of 1 hours. The rest of the time was spent walking or standing around talking to friends.
Food wise again I feel I made a good choice from what they had to offer.
1 SlimFast meal bar
3 cups coffee with Equal
1 roast beef on weck and horseradish again :p My other choices were hotdog, hamburger, fried balognia or Italian sausage. I figure the roast beef would be the choice with the least fat.
I also drank 4 bottles of water and almost 1 liter of Clear American flavored water.
Oh BTW...the car I drove to today's car show got an award of Outstanding in Class! It is an unrestored Olds 442 convertable.

Hi everyone! I've read the entire thread today and it motivated me to reply and join in! I probably walk 2 miles a day and run another half or whole mile...depending on my schedule. My goal for the remaining month of June is 20 miles. I should probably introduce myself first however...my name is Michelle, I'm a 21 yr old college student looking to lose 5-10 pounds. Hopefully with all the wonderful support and motivation, I can do it by the end of August when I'll be starting a brand new university and might be seeing my ex boyfriend for the first time in a year. (depending if he can take the time off) *crosses fingers* Good luck to everyone!!!! Happy Sunday!!! :o)

Cristi, I just read your Fri. post and you sounded so down on yourself. I'm so glad that you're so up today now. I never want to hear you thinking of yourself as a cow. You're an awesome lady and don't you forget it!!!Wtg on that 5 mile walk. That's ambition for you.

Kristen, Woo hoo another 2.4 gone. You are just rockin' girl! I took your advice on dressing to feel good. When me and dh went out for his bd I wore a dress with some strappy heels.... the first heels I've worn in ages, especially open toe ones...I felt so sexy and you could tell my honey appreciated the extra effort too. So, this weekend I went out and bought a new "hotty" outfit. Tight fitting denim "spanish" dance skirt with a bright red fitted peasant top with the lace up front. Definitely nothing I'd ever wear in my "regular" life, but when out with my hubby, why not? Hope you had a great weekend!

Janine, Your food choices are so perfect. I ate a peanut buster parfait from DQ today. Very naughty, but I left my 9 yr. old 70 miles away at Bible camp until Fri. so the ice cream made me feel better. So you should be really proud of what you're doing right now. Maybe you should wear a pedometer while at car shows. Maybe you'd find out you don't have to feel guilty about ignoring you tm on show days!!

Welcome Galzooks, If it's motivation you need, we've got it.

MY great niece is having trouble with jauntice so my niece was totally wore out from taking the baby and her 2 yr. old to the dr. every day but Tues. So they were not going to make it to the zoo for the feast with us. Since the zoo is 90 miles away we decided to do the beach instead. Which was better, we were able to relax plus I kept within my cal. range on Sat. Maybe next year. I did no exercise yesterday, but did walk 4 miles after eating the DQ treat today. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Kristi, did I sound that down? I hope it didn't sound like I was whining. I didn't feel down per se just like a bloated pig, or should I say cow. But I know I ALWAYS feel better when I come here, even if I just lurk. Not sure what was going on this month with TOM but it was horrible, and it seems like I get a bit depressed towards the end of it, hormones I guess. WTG on the 4 miles and good for you for buying the outfit!! I want to dress up for hubby but he works so much so we hardly go out. But I am glad to hear you and hubby had a GREAT time for his birthday, and I know you were lookin' good!! ;) I hope your great niece is fine.

Janine, I would have to say you did get a work out with all that walking at the car show. You definitely are doing a great job in the eating department.

A BIG WELCOME to you Galzooks!! You will enjoy this thread, the ladies here are MAUVELOUS!! Lots of motivation, inspiration and support for sure! :)

Okay, that's about it for me ladies. I am outta here. Hope EVERYONE has a good one. Ta Ta...:grouphug:

Hope everyone is enjoying the day. :)

Just wanted to check in and say Hi to everyone. I haven't done my walk as of yet but will be as soon as I am off this thing.

Today was weigh in and I am down 3 pounds. Well, actually 1.5 because I gained 1.5 during TOM but hey a loss is a loss and I will take every little bit I can get! That's about all I have for now. I will check back later and post my miles for the day. Eight days left ladies to make those goals. :) Come on get those feet moving, you can do it!! WE can do it!! :grouphug: Okay, I am in a silly mood today. :dizzy: Have a good one.

:yikes: Thanks(?!!) for reminding me how many days I have left Cristi :p . OMG! I have been slacking this weekend--no walking since Thursday... that means I have 8 days to walk 32.5 miles. Hmmm, don't know if I'll make it but I'll sure try :dancer: .

I've had to recommit myself to this weight loss effort yet again this Monday. I've been backsliding for weeks! Tsk, tsk. The lowest weight I've been so far this journey was 170, back in April...I'm back up to 180 as of this morning. My 14's are getting a bit snug and I feel like a failure as far as keeping this motivation to keep going. I need you gals to lift me up! I know that I have to do the work to get the weight off, it helps to have you all here backing me in my efforts.

Cristi congrats on your loss! WTG! You too Kristen, you gals are doing great.

Welcome Michelle to our little walking corner. Glad you could join us.

Kristi your outfit sounds great, nothing like a new outfit out of the ordinary to lift your spirits. I'm sending good vibes :goodvibes: for little Daisy (?) to get better.

Janine that's a really cool car the Olds 442 convertible. My BIL used to "collect" Cutlass Supreme's back in the 70's. Congrats on your award!

Lynne and Jenifer, how are you ladies doing?

Did I miss anyone? Hope not! Hope you all had a wonderful day. I will get out this evening and walk my blues away... talk with you all later. Take care.

Cristi, You certainly didn't sound like a whiner!!Just that maybe you needed a shoulder - I so appreciate when we all share our blue days here - we shouldn't hide them - if we do where's the support? We need to write how we are truly feeling so someone who's having a better day can beauy us up. I hope from time to time I can do that. Congrats. on your 3# loss, that is so great! You've been doing just terrific. WTG!

Noelle, Climb back on the bus girl - you are so worth the effort it takes. Remember, this journey offers so many rewards other than a smaller size. It's great for our self esteem - for our hearts - our lungs - our joints - our children - and on and on! You can do this you are an Awesome June Babe!!
PS. Get that piggy out of you CW. What those numbers tell me is that you've managed to lose and keep off 38#. That's something to be VERY proud of!

As for my life, my Daisy's billiruben is back to normal. Yeahhhh! My 6 yr old dd had to have a piece of metal removed from her yey yesterday. It was one of those, " I'm the worst mother in the world days, " yesterday. Last Mon. dd got something in her eye while swinging at the park.I could see something, she cried, it looked aweful, but then she napped and didn't complain anymore
until Thur. when I looked then I couldn't see anything so I figured it had worked itself out and the "scratch" had to heal.No complaints again until yesterday when she first got up. Looking then I could see something again, luckily the eye dr. was willing to see her right away. That thing had allready started to rust! They needed to numb her eye and first remove the piece, but then the poor thing had to summer a little spinning brush on her eye to remove the rust stains.(which wouldn't have been there had I brought her in sooner) She never cried, no whining, no complaints. The dr. and his staff are convinced she's made of steel! He siad he's had grown men react far worse with smaller pieces. He couldn't believe her stamina and patience. I think that's a woman thing, when the gowing gets tough we get tougher! She went back today and it's healing remarkably well thankgoodness. He wants to see her again tomorrow. If that's my saga for the week I will servive!
Did a 3 mile WATP tape yesterday. I need to get on that bike!

Update : I was able to do an 8 mile bike ride tonight. Considering we have 100% humidity I felt great. It took until the 3 mile to feel great, but that's another story. I have my doubts about hitting my goal of a 5# loss this month, but at least I now know my walking and biking goals will be met. Yipppeeee!

Aww shucks "mom" I took the pig out of my CW, and replaced it with a happy smiling flower/sun thing... I'm in a better mood today and look forward to staying OP. Unlike Cristi, I was whining yesterday :^: but I'm ready to shut up and do what it takes to get this weight off. I visited my old work place to deliver some candles and one of my co-workers complimented me on my appearance. That lifted my spirits. There was an article in our local paper about how women who may not be overweight, still have a distorted body-image and may not be "comfortable" with themselves. I guess we need to take Jenifer's advice and "love the skin we're in" :D .

Kristi I'm so glad to hear about Daisy. And oh my gosh, your daughter was so brave! I was cringing just reading your description of what happened. Don't kick yourself because you didn't take her in to the doc right away. If you couldn't see anything and she wasn't complaining about it, I wouldn't have acted immediately either. She's okay now and that's the main thing.

I did get my walk in yesterday evening, had to cut it a street short since I pushed my son in the stroller and that bugger fell asleep! His head was lolling from side to side and I felt sorry for him. But I got that cardio in and I was sweating. :strong: Looks like I'll have to do 3.5 miles everyday then the 5.2 miles on Sat. and Sun... sounds like a lot, but doable if I push myself. I think I can, I think I can...

OMG! Kristi, I too was cringing when reading about your dd's eye, OUCH! Poor thing, I am glad to hear it is better and healing nicely. Isn't it funny how it didn't bother her for days? Don't be so hard on yourself. I too would have done the same. If you look and look and don't see anything and she's not saying it is bothering her then how are you to know? I can tell by all your posts you are a GREAT mother! Glad to hear about Daisy also, she is such a cutie! You are so right about writing how we truly feel and I appreciate that. I think I read too many of these threads and on one of them I saw they don't want any whining but then thought well if you are having a bad day and looking for support are you not supposed to say anything? Because isn't that why we are here? Looking for support, inspiration and motivation? And also to give the same in return? I thought so anyway. I think I was thinking of that thread though as I was posting. But you are absolutely right! Thank you.

Noelle, don't say I think I can, I think I can ,because I know you can and will! :) I am glad you are in a better mood, you are a beautiful lady! I agree with you about Jenifer saying we need to love the skin we're in, that is so true, now if only it were that easy for me. That is something I am working on and it is hard. I was picturing your little boy sleeping in the stroller and thinking how cute. Children are so sweet and look like little angels when they are sleeping. I used to love to watch my kids sleep when they were small, sooooo cute!

Well, I wonder how everyone else is doing? Jenifer, hope you are doing fine and enjoying school. Lynne, we are missing you lady. Jen, you must be having a FANTASTIC vacation. Kristen and Janine hope you ladies are doing fine also. Why does is always seem like I am missing someone? We are missing you ladies. :grouphug:

I haven't gotten a walk in today and I don't know if I will. I have been going all day long and I am pooped. I just want to go lay down and sleep! Can't though, not yet. so I may try to get in a mile at least but not counting on it. I did do a 3 mile walk yesterday. I am going to leave today's miles blank for now just in case I do a walk.

as for my miles.... if i remember this correctly. i did 4 on sunday. it was raining, but i did 2 2-mile tapes.... and then yesterday and today i did 3.5 miles. that is 11 miles total. woo hoo. i am really hoping to make goal! :D

my new new balance sneaks are killing my feet. well... the balls of my feet are always sore after i walk. i don't get it... if they're walking shoes... wouldn't that help me to walk... and not put me through pain? ah well...

Hey ladies. I did an awesome walk this afternoon. I actually got out a little early while my son was napping (I left him w/my sister) and went on the longer route so I got in 5.2 miles today. I think I'm getting motivated to meet my 90 mile goal this month. Thanks for the encouragement!

Kristen, sorry to hear your feet are hurtin'. I think I tend to favor running shoes over walking shoes--I prefer the way they contour to your foot, rather than the way walking shoes are more bulky and orthopedic looking...could just be esthetics though in my case. I loved my New Balance shoes from day 1, no problems so far.

Kristi--WTG on the 8 mile bike ride--and in 100% humidity?!! Whew! That's miserable. You go girl. Hope your girl's eye check up went well.

Cristi, thanks for the compliments. I see you've walked about 60 miles already--that is wonderful! It's amazing how those miles add up huh? You're one busy lady, don't work too hard :D and most of all never beat yourself up if you've worked all day and can't find the time to walk. There's always tomorrow.

Boy, I sure am dragging this morning. I need to get a quick fix with a cup of tea. I thought maybe getting my walk done early this morning I would be feeling energetic, not happening. :halffull:
I think I will take a nap later, maybe that will do the trick. Don't have much to do today, thank goodness. Just loads of laundry, but isn't that like an every day thing? Sure seems like it around here.

WTG Noelle on your 5.2 mile walk. See, I knew you could do it!

Kristen, WTG on your walking also. Sorry to hear your feet are hurting. My hubby wears the New Balance running shoes and loves them. He says they are very comfortable. I bought some Nike walking shoes and Noelle you are right about them looking like orthopedic shoes! They do but I wanted something more comfortable than what I have which are Sketchers and they are perfect! And I must have tried about a dozen pair of shoes on before these. But these were the most comfortable and I only wear them when walking so I can deal with the orthopedic look!

Kristi, WTG on that 8 mile bike ride, and in 100% humidity?! You are a :queen: There is no way I would get out in that kind of humidity. It has been very humid here the last few days and on top of it the wind is blowing which makes it even worse. I am so glad I have a treadmill. :smug: I would melt!

Hi Ladies, just a quickie post as I've got to pry my son off the Xbox games and into bed soon. I got my regular route in today 3.5 miles. I was kinda sore from yesterday's walk, guess i was a little overzealous...I think I'll try to do another 5.2 tomorrow though if the sky gets overcast, otherwise it's too hot to go early and then too dark to walk the whole way... I took my son to visit a possible new preschool today. The classrooms were really spacious with lots of quality toys and learning materials. The only thing I didn't like was the child to teacher ratio--I asked the center director what the class size was for the 4-5 year olds and she said 25 kids for 1 teacher and 1 aide. That seemed like a rather high # for kids per teacher...his current class only has 14 kids and they have 1 teacher, and 2 regular aides, plus volunteers that "float" between the other 2 classes. Is it just me? or am I a paranoid mother thinking that my child will be lost in the shuffle? 4-5 year olds shouldn't be left to their own devices for too long, should they? I saw some kids running out of the classroom to the hallway and into the restrooms without so much as a second glance from the teacher or aide...I have to think about this new place, maybe I'll look into other facilities as well. I just wish his current school wasn't closing, then I wouldn't be forced to place him in a new place :( . Well, this "quick" post has turned into a novella, so I'll stop here.

Hope all you ladies have had a wonderful day. Check you out tomorrow.

Kristen, Great job getting those miles in. Sorry to hear about your toostsies though...maybe NB has some kind of exchange program or something...it's worth a try.

Noelle, There's the girl I know and love...get out there and conquer that goal...YGG!! As for the pre-school. I don't think 14-2 is such a bad ratio myself as long as the teachers are qualified people you feel comfortable with. Maybe you need to surprise visit a few times and maybe there ae volunteers at times etc..., but I am one of those mothers that feel children need unorganized time to learn to get along and work out there independence and stuff, but I know I'm in the minority many times. What really matters is that you and your son feel comfortable with his surrounding. good luck in your search.

Cristi, What a great idea...to take a nap...too many of us ignore our bodies signals that it needs a little down time. I hope you get a great snoozy! Today would be a great day to take a nap here in WI. We had terrible humidity and heat for 3 days, and then yesterday we had tstorms for most of the day, and today it's about 74*f, windy, and pretty much no humidity so I may snooze myself. I'm planning to climb aboard my bike again this eve....my rear just can't take it 2 days in a row

DD eye has healed to scratch so that's a relief. My DH and DS are heading to Mpls.,MN this Sat. for a Brewers vs. Twins game. The Brewers beat them last weekend at home so I hope they can do it again on the road so my guys see a winning game. I still don't know what me and the rest of the gang are going to do. We normally go to Madison, WI this weekend for the "Rythm and Booms" show. (lots of fireworks set to music) maybe we'll just stay home. That'd be different for a change. Normally our family stays home all the time, but so far we've been busy beavers this summer. Probably because the children are older and it's easier to go. I'm rambling, have a great day all, I'll be thinking of you!

Well no treadmill today but I did get in excercise. I took the boys shopping to BJ's and spent $290! :p I then had to come home and put everything away. Most things went in the cupboards and was fine as is but I had meats and other things that needed to be divided up before freezing.

Diet wise:
1oz Cheerios w/berries
2oz 1% milk
lettuce salad w/mushroom and fresh broccoli and fat free dressing
4 16oz bottles water
1 vanilla flavored mini toosie roll

Supper is gonna be steak out on the grill sliced thin then served on salad, grilled veggies and left over mac & cheese.

Whew, another busy day today. I think I'm enjoying working half-days more than whole days since I feel a little more pressure to get things done in a shorter amount of time. I, for one, perform better under pressure. AND I actually cooked dinner today ;) . It may not seem like a big deal to you ladies, but I'm so spoiled, by the time I get home from work, my mom has dinner ready :^: . I made a mean spaghetti w/meat sauce and spinach :T . Oh yeah, and conquered putting Mt. Laundry away. I also got my walk in today so I feel pretty happy with what I've accomplished today. Ahhh, domestic bliss

Janine, $290 on groceries? Yikes! Is BJ's like a Costco or Sam's Club? We don't have a store by that name here. I know how easy it is to spend mucho dinero in warehouse clubs though. Your dinner sounds yummy. Maybe I should take a cue from you and have some steak on a green salad during my weekend BBQs instead of oinking out on those yummy Aidell's sausages...

Kristi, I totally agree that the child/teacher ratio of 14/2 is a good one. That's what his current school has. The new school I'm checking into though, is 25 kids to 2 adults...that just seemed a bit high for me...I'm looking at another facility tomorrow, we'll see how that one turns out. I'm big on first impressions. I hope I get better vibes from this one :crossed: .

Well, it's late and I still need to hit the shower. Hope all of you other fine June babes are making the most of the rest of the month. hope to hear from y'all soon, ya hear :D ?

Yes Nicolle. BJ's is a warehouse club. I bought enough to last probably 3 weeks except for the produce. I have a freezer in the basement and that is about full right now!
Supper was good! Cooked everything out on the grill! ;)
Even though I am not walking on the treadmill I am getting in my excercise. I had all that stuff to put away! I grabbed my laundry basket (as usual) and took 4 loads of food down to put either in the pantry or freezer. Man was that heavy!
Now tomorrow we have another car show to work so I will be there all day doing registration, selling 50/50's and such. Gonna be another long day on my feet! We also get to bring our cars so I will be driving the '67 Olds 442 Convertable and DH will be driving the '72 Vega Kammback Wagon.

Noelle, that does sound a bit high for pre-school. I know in the public schools K-12th it is the norm, 25-30 kids with one teacher and no aides, here anyway. Actually in kindergarten they usually have an aide and volunteers, but the numbers are still usually high. When my daughter and sons attended pre-school there was about 10-15 kids in a class with a teacher and an aide.

Janine, I think that is the worst part of grocery shopping-putting it away! And it definitely is a work out, especially if you are going up and down stairs. I swear it doesn't matter how much I walk and exercise I walk up these stairs at home and it leaves me gasping for air! What is up with that? My dd told me I should use them as a stair stepper. I honestly don't think I could handle it. Hope you make lots of money at the car show tomorrow, have fun!

Kristi, I never did get that nap in, just too much to do. I did doze in the chair for a few minutes though, does that count? We too had the days of humidity, plus wind. I don't know which is worse. Then had the thunderstorms for the day, with hail and yesterday and today has been so nice and cool, well if you take that darn wind away. I love a cool breeze but I can do without the 20-30 mph winds, sometimes even worse. That's Kansas for ya, ick!

Kristen, hope your footsies are feeling better in those new shoes.

Jenifer, where are you? We are missing you, and Lynne, and Jen. Jen must be having a spectacular vacation. Well, I hope everyone is well and having a great day.

I managed a 4 mile walk this morning and am going to try and get in a 20 minute bike ride later, in between laundry. I swear it seems every time I post I am having to do laundry. Later ladies...:grouphug:

hello babes!!!

i am so sorry i haven't posted on here in ages... or at least that is what it seems like. i've just had some stuff going on that kept me away from updating and walking and all that good stuff. i think the last time i walked it was wednesday night. i did the tufts track for 4 miles. woo hoo! that was my last walking stint... so i still have some to go!

apparently mother nature is hitting us back in full force. it's a heatwave in new england these days. just one day i want it to be 80 with no humidity... i'd be happy!

hope all is well with everyone! i REALLY need to keep up on everyone's life. i missed you guys! i just feel like i'm constantly on the go this past week.

just ten miles to goal. hopefully i can do it in 3 days, cause i won't get a walk in today. so i just have saturday, sunday, and monday. yikes!!!

good luck on meeting your goals, ladies!!

I really need to brag here! I have received so much encouragment and suport from you people that I felt I had to tell you all this!
I started out my quest to get healthy and loose weight back in Sept of 02. I weighed 209 lbs on a 5'4" body. Not a pretty sight to see. I was tired all the time and just felt awful. I also had no patience for my boys and knew I had to do something. My father dies from a massive heart attack when he was only 47 and his father died when he was 48. I was going on 43 and starting to run scared! Well, yesterday I got on the scale and my weight was 149lbs. I am now down a total of 60 lbs. I feel GREAT and need new summer clothes! :cp: I have nothing that fits me! :D
I just felt I needed to tell you all this. I hope to encourage all those struggling that it can be done. I still have about 15-20 lbs to loose and know these are going to be the hardest to loose but I am now up for the fight! :strong: I have so much more stamina and patience with the boys. Life is so much better!:cloud9:
Thank you all for all the support you have given me even though I have neglected my treadmill these past couple months. I know I need to get back on track but I have still been doing wonderful on the diet front. Actually this is not a diet change but a lifestyle change!

06-29-2003, 12:08 PM
WTG Janine!! WOOHOO!!:cb: :bravo: :cp:  You have every right to brag you have done an EXCELLENT job!! WOW 60 pounds gone! I hope you have fun shopping for new clothes. You definitely have encouraged me, and you are so right about this not being a diet but a way of life. I think that's why so many fail and end up gaining back because we look at it as a diet, a quick fix. We lose the weight and then go back to our old habits thinking we can eat what we want because we've lost the weight, or it has been that way for me. We have to realize it is a lifetime change, not just a change until we've reached our goals. It has taken me a long time to figure this out with the help of WW because that is exactly what I have done int he past. I know you will make your goal, after losing 60 pounds, 15-20 pounds is nothing! ;) I am sorry to hear of your dad passing at such a young age. :(

Kristen, nice to see ya checking in. :) Hey, we all get busy sometimes just check in when you can.

Jenifer, Noelle, Lynne, Jen, Kristi and anyone I may have missed, I hope you ladies are having a wonderful weekend.

Jenifer, any ideas on next months name? We are going to keep this thread going ladies, yes?

Well, tomorrow is weigh in for me, wish me luck :lucky: and the last day of the month ladies. I hope everyone makes their goal. I slacked off a bit but I will just make it. Got lazy yesterday but did get in 2 miles, 4 this morning. Okay, I am outta here. :grouphug:

Hi All you Hot Babes! WoW I thought I was never going to make it here to post!
Janine :grouphug: to you! Your post made me just about cry! I'm so happy to have met you on this post. You inspire me to keep going! :) :) :)
I had a great camping trip last weekend. I missed everyone very much. Since I started school I haven't had anytime! :smug: I haven't done any walking or nothing. Have stuck to my points on weight watchers though. ;) I skipped the week of weigh in when I went camping and yesterday I weighed in and lost 2 pounds! :cb: :cb: I was so happy considering when I went camping I was some what of a piggy! Plus I had about 5 light beers total on that Saturday night! :ink: :ink: I am at 201 and can't wait for Onederland this Saturday! You watch and see! I hope to be able to post something during the week but I am not sure! I will have to play catch up when I'm able to be on here.
Shall we call the thread July Babes and just keep it at that each month???
All of you are doing awesome on the walking! WTG for the month!
Cristi~ Some skinny vibes your way babe! :goodvibes :goodvibes

06-30-2003, 03:03 PM
Jenifer, so glad to see you finally got on to post. We have missed you. :grouphug: Glad you had a great time camping. I so want to go at least once this summer but honestly I don't think it is going to happen. Hubby is just working way too much and it's not something I would want to do by myself. WTG on your loss this week! :bravo: I know you will be in onederland come Saturday. YGG. You can do it, you will do it, I just know you will!! :) Thank you for the vibes, maybe they will work for next week.

My weigh in was this morning and while I didn't have a loss I didn't have a gain either so that is good and something I can deal with. I get so frustrated when I gain even a 1/2 pound. Of course I would definitely rather see a loss, duh who wouldn't? :p I will just have to work harder. :jig: I haven't managed my walk for the day yet but I will make that goal easily. My July goal I am only going to up my miles by 5 to 80 miles. I could have done a lot more but took quite a few days off and to be honest it felt good to take those days off, plus I didn't want to push it. I want to enjoy walking, not struggle just to make a goal. I think 4-6 days is good but will concentrate on 5 and take 2 days a week off. I HAVE to do at least 5 days of exercise now, funny, before jumping on this thread I was lucky to get in 3, so a BIG THANK YOU ladies for keeping me motivated! You ladies are da :bomb: I will post my miles for the day later.

Hope EVERYONE is having a fantastic Monday. Later...:grouphug:

P.S. Just wanted to post miles walked for the day and month. I only did 2.5 miles probably because I knew I only needed 1.5 to make goal. :p :dizzy:

June Goal~75 miles
6/30/03~2.5 miles

til then... you girls are doing GREAT! i'm so glad to be a part of all of you!

Hi all you Beautiful June babes, I've so missed you all. Janine I gotta say right away YGG. Your achievment is just awesome I know you can lose that last little bit. Just terrific:cb: :cp: I myself had a bad Fri. I WI totally confident that I had made mt June goal of a 5# loss only to find I had gained 2 of the 3 I'd lost so far back. I know I've had a lot of occasions this month so I should be happy to finish with any loss and now that it's 3 days later i am happy with this months accomplishments, but it took a couple ays to not look at June as a failure except now I realize I didn't make my biking goal either:mad: but, I had a great weekend in LaCrosse,WI my dh and ds had a great time at the baseball game and all is well. So I'm moving on. I haven't decided on July's goals yet, but I do no I will not be making a loss goal any loss at the end of the month will be fine. Just because I was feeling so good like a hottie, a goddess, a diva, and then that darn scale made me feel like a loser so I'm skipping it. I'll exercise and eat right and be a July Babe!!:D

Jenifer, So glad you're back, WTG on your loss:)

Cristi, I quik nap only counts if you were'nt rudely awakened by a childs nose a mm from your own:lol: My 3yr old has a terrible habit of getting right up close to me and not saying a word if I happen to doze off. I wake up with such a start that any good the tiny nap did me is lost in the confusion.:p

Noelle, Kristen you're both doing great !

 Kristi

June goals 35 miles walked actual 56:D

Wow Janine that's awesome!!! And congrats to everyone else who has achieved their goals!!!

It's been a hectic couples of days with registration and figuring out how I'm going to pay my tuition...college is way too expensive!!!

Frustration is definitely settling in cause I did make my June goal...since I didn't start until the 21st or so, my goal was 20 miles...as of tonight, I walked/ran 26.5 miles. HOWEVER, I haven't lost any weight and I hate it! I'm getting a new scale tomorrow cause I just don't trust that digital one anymore! :o) I have found the BEST motivation for myself...when my parents bought me the treadmill they also bought a small TV to put beside it so I wouldn't get so bored. It's kinda hard to explain but my dad hooked it up to the main TV and I can watch the satellite and stuff...I just realized that if I put in a video, I can watch that instead....SOOOOOOOO, since my FAVORITE group is NSYNC, I pop in their concerts that I have on video and walk/run to them dancing and singing...it's amazing! I get so into it...you would all laugh! Oh I could watch them all day long...*sigh*...why can't I just marry one of them?!?? ;o) Enough rambling...off to bed...work will come way too early! Have a beautiful day tomorrow!!!!

Any new challenges for July?

I wasn't sure if I should post here or not. Jenifer where are you...we are going to continue with the thread, yes? I will be looking for the new July thread soon. I know you are busy with work and school.

Kristi, hey 1 pound is better than no pounds. ;) But I do know how you feel as I made a goal of 8 pounds thinking it is doable, which I think it is I just need to stay focused and OP. I lost 4 pounds for the month of June but hey like I said a little is better than nothing at all. So you keep on truckin' I know you will see a bigger loss this month. :lucky: That's cute about your 3-year-old. My hubby used to do that. He would either watch me or get a feather or hair and tickle my nose, of course the kids picked it up also and just think it is so funny. DS2 is quite the comdeian/clown.

Kristen, I do know what you mean about making goal. I did that in May, ugh! I just about killed myself the last few days just to make goal. That's why I haven't upped my goals by much each month. I don't want to go too high and struggle to make it towards the end of the month. I like going low and passing the goal, so much better! :p Then I really feel like I have accomplished something. Anyway, you did GREAT with your walking! WTG I think we all did great with our walking. Let's keep it up ladies.

Michelle, have you applied for any grants (Pell Grant) and such to help with college costs? You may still have time. I'm not sure when you start or the guidelines. I agree it is expensive and it's supposed to be getting higher. I think the books are the most expensive part of it unless you are lucky enough to find used ones. What are you taking/going for? Don't fret too much over losing weight. If you started the 21st it hasn't been that long so maybe in a week or two you will see a loss. Just don't give up. I too am a treadmill walker and I couldn't do it without the tv in my face. Well it's not exactly in my face but the treadmill faces the tv and it is so easy to turn it on and just go forever.

Well, hope EVERYONE is having a great day! I will post my goals for July and my walk for the day later. I was kind of waiting for the new July ????? thread. Take care ladies. :grouphug:

Hey ladies. Just wanted to finalize my mileage for the month of June. Can't believe we're already into July! Anyway, didn't make my goal of 90 miles (what was I thinking?) but I did walk 76.2 miles which isn't too shabby. Quite a bit less than during the month of May, but I've totally lost my mojo. I need to reassess and really think about why I am doing this--what is the driving force behind this lifestyle change. It's sooooo easy to slip back into old habits and to quit exercising. Nothing worth anything will be easy to get eh? Or something like that.

Janine, big congratulations to you. You have every right to brag. If I were you I'd be shouting my success from the rooftops. We're of similar starting weights, and I think I'm an inch shorter than you are, but you've come so far. I'm proud of you. Enjoy your newly svelte body.

Michelle, welome back. Watching videos of your favorite band is great while using the treadmill--I know how just listening to music makes me lose track of time, watching it must be even better.

Krsiti, awesome job on surpassing your goal--and no sweat on the WI--you did lose some and that's great.

Cristi--awesome job on your miles too! Maintaining your weight is wonderful, 100% better than gaining (can you tell what I'm doing?) .

Kristen I'd love to walk anywhere around Boston, so much history and so different from anywhere I've ever been. I need to make a trip to the east coast and soon. No worries about not making goal...we have a new month to work on.

Jenifer, glad you had a great time camping and :high: super job on losing weight too! I know I probably couldn't do that. I'm thinking about joining WW since I passed their office yesterday. I need to do SOMETHING before I gain all the weight I've lost back!

Jen are you back yet?

Lynne, hope you're doing well...let us know if you need us, we're here to listen.

Well ladies, let's get crackin' on this new month we have. Have a great day.

JUNE GOAL: 90 Miles
