This group is for those dealing with the challenges of being fit when you have a significant amount of weight to lose which becomes harder after age 40. If you're an old or new friend and not over 40 and feel this is the place to post, jump right in!
So, have any of you used that "No No" hair removal thing I keep seeing on TV?
I was thinking of having it as a "reward" for losing X amount of weight. I have never been a goal/reward setter but maybe that is exactly what I need????
Carol- praying for you dad and your family! Hugs and keep us posted!!
well April was a good month but didnt exercise as much as I had planned. Scales moved downward during the month..not as fast as I wanted but hey any movement is better than none!
The wedding went well. I heard a lot of "I like your hair, your dress is really flattering..." I could tell by the smiles the ones who noticed. The others gave their compliments with a confused face. The dreaded weight word was not used once.
The wedding exceeded our expectations. Thank God all went well.
I was shocked at how long it has taken my body to recover. Not as healthy and strong as I had hoped. You will see me in the moving thread from now on!
Carol-Your FIL, family, and the medical staff are in my prayers.
New here... and, technically speaking, I am 39. But, I am 39 and can see 40 on the horizon. The weight loss charts say I have 130 pounds to lose. I say I have 90-100 pounds to lose.
I am a Colon Cancer survivor. And obesity is a risk factor for it coming back.
The good news is I previously lost 85 pounds and have kept 70 of that off for many years. However, I do notice that it is harder to lose the weight now than when I was in my early 30's. So, here I am! Fired up and ready to go!
I wish the best to all and keep all in my prayers.
just a quick stop in to say hello! Hard to type with a little one in my lap. She doesnt seem to understand that her grammie needs coffee time at the computer. lol
Ubee say it isn't so...I had high hopes for the No No....With age comes the worry of who will take care of my unwanted hair????? After menopause I started getting "upper lip" hair BUT only on one side...which makes it even dumber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to find a solution to this before I am too old to take care if it myself. Then, of course there is the eye brows...who knows what they will look like as time goes on.
That's good news, Carol.
dgramie, on the scale movement in the right direction.
Oh! Here you are! I lose track of when the threads switch. I guess it is the beginning of a new month.
Carol, and prayers continue. I'm happy to hear you're taking care of yourself too.
I put on a pair of jeans that I was fitting into so nicely last summer. I can slide them over my hips but they can't be buttoned or zipped at all. It's odd. I had gained weight but could still wear them, but then I just this week started coming back down the scale and now can't wear them. I definitely want to get back into them!
Today I'm tidying up around the house because my best friend is flying up tomorrow night for the weekend. I have warned my sons that I will be childish, immature and self-absorbedd all weekend. They know how to fend for themselves. I think we'll take a day trip into Gold Country on Saturday, go feed some carrots to some horses (girlfriend is from L.A. and is so charmed by farm animals when she comes up), do some walking around old towns to take pictures, perhaps have a nice lunch somewhere. Sunday morning there's a large annual street fair in town, so we'll go investigate all the antiques.
I'm going to stay off the computer all weekend. It'll be nice!
Welcome raineenyte. Way to go on keeping off 70 pounds. More impressive is surviving cancer!
Carol you are all in my prayers.
Have a fun weekend Georgia!
Isles I use Veet wax strips for my upper lip. I have to go to the beauty shop for my eyebrows because it is impossible with my glasses on. (Besides there are too many to pluck!)
Hello everyone! It is finally warming up here and I am loving it. Makes it so much nicer for walking outside. Had an awesome week on the scale. Lost 7.8 pound which was a shock. Was really happy with the loss though considering I had gained the last two weeks. Although the weight gains frustrated me, I did not let them discourage me. I am determined to stay OP and take this unwanted weight off once and for all. Hope all is well with all of you.
