I have absolutely LOVED the "Lose 10 lbs by..." threads! They have become an important tradition along my weight loss journey and this one takes us right into summer! :beach:

Anyone can join, any time, and you don't have to set a 10 lb goal...that's just our bad @$$ name for it! Make whatever goal works for you!

Firsties!

Okay I am going to raise the bar for myself personally. 13 pounds by June 1st (I lose 3lbs a week and there are 3 extra days so 13 total if I don't screw up get stalled or something)! 161.5 pounds (Mini goal-1/3 of weight to be lost) by around May 18th! HOORAY!!!!! I LOVE THESE THINGS! I love all challenges they're fun! They keep me motivated!!! WHOOHOO!!! *IS VERY OBVIOUSLY EXCITED*

I'll post my stats tomorrow morning since like I posted in the previous "lose 10 lbs by" I have been bloated but should be good to go tomorrow plus tomorrow is May 1st. So yea I'll post em then! :D

Yay! I've been waiting for days for the 10lbs by June to show up! I have been away for a little while, but back on the wagon and already making progress. This should help keep me on track (and my sister's upcoming wedding :) ) I'm at 216lb today, 206lb by June 1!!!

I need this this month- I've got 6.5 weeks until my bff's wedding in June. I'm her MOH.

LOl Amandie at Happy/Acceptable GW and Ultimate GW- I have that too.
I definitely want to be at 142 for the wedding, but June 1st would be even better. :D

I'd like to join you chicks! By June 1, I want to be 185 (Today, I'm at 195.6)! I'm working my buns off so I hope to see some big results. I"m also going to a wedding on August 10 and would love to be 30 lbs. lighter the then.

5/10 192.7 lbs. Not sure if I'll get to 185.6 but I hope to come close!

I'm in! This is one of my fave threads.

I will aim for 15lbs this month. I will be traveling to Turkey though for two weeks of that so staying OP, going to the gym and posting are all gonna be extra tricky. I will need to use the force. All of my hotels have gyms though. And I am bringing the trusty (Amazon) digital travel scale (which reads precisely 0.8-1lb less than my main scale so I will need to adjust for that).

I'm in! April wasn't that great for me. My first big stall. I started the month at 193.6 and was stuck at 190-192 most of the month. I managed to get down to 189.6 recently but got my TOM and a couple days off plan (ugh pizza is my worst enemy.. no control whatsoever) and I'm certain I'm back in the 190-192 range. Will do an official SW tomorrow but my GW is 181. That would be soo amazing :hyper: Good luck everybody! Let's have a great month!

Up 1.6lbs today. OMG. I sure hope this is just the gym kicking in and water retention! Anyway, no gym today. I decided that I was at risk of overtraining so I am doing one day on, one day off rather than every day. Back to it tomorrow morning and then off to Turkey on Friday.

Weighed this am and lost two since last week! Sorry, but I'm going to count that in my 10lbs even tho it was happening in April. Call it a head start? So, I'm really going for an 8lbs loss by june 1. Hey, accountability is everything!

Okay I am ready to turn in my stats lol I am still a little bloated but whatever lol I'll adjust the stats when the bloating comes down tomorrow by a pound if it's at 170 and if it's a pound lower than I'll add half pound weight loss for today and tomorrow-which is typical for me.

I love the enthusiasm in here already! I finished the 30 Day Shred today so I am pumped! (haha not quite jacked though :P )

I am up a wee bit from Sunday, but hey...I am in the 170's so I will keep on pushin'!

I'll take this challenge! 10 lbs by June 1st, at the very least, for me. Perhaps up to 15, because I lose quite a bit of water weight at the beginning.

I just fell off my wagon, and getting back on (again, for like, the zillionth time). I'm setting this as an official goal on my calendar. WOO! I'll make sure I come on here daily for motivation, because I LOVE reading about everyone's weight loss successes (and struggles, because I struggle constantly)!

Weighed in today, ugh. It IS TOM, I hope that accounts for a pound or 2 but...I will be trying not to eat bread this month. I would like to try eating Paleo, but there are some foods that would be hard to give up. :shrug: Maybe when I get closer to goal and things start slowing down, then I'll choose something else to let go.We'll play it by ear. I would like to join and lose atleast 5-7 pounds by June 1st. I joined a challenge like this few months back and lost 6 pounds . Past 2 months had some stress and gained everything back :(. I really want to stick with the challenge this time - it is really motivating to see all the positive energy here.

Well that's a good start! LOL I have no doubt it will go up slightly tomorrow. I did my first kettlebell workout yesterday and it was awesome! I burned close to 300 calories in 40 minutes which is huge for me because I hate to exercise and don't typically with intensity. I am sore in more places this morning than when I do the 30 Day Shred, but I didn't feel like I was going to die at any point during the workout like I do with 30DS. Hopefully I can incorporate kettlebells a few times a week because I really need to tone up.

My batteries have been replaced in the scale so my starting numbers are "official" LOL. Today I will stick to my food plan through the day, either go for a run after work or do a few sets on the stairs in my building if I am pressed for time before dinner out -- I am up for the challenge of picking something from the menu tonight that doesn't blow the calorie budget.

I've been mostly at the same weight for a few days now -TOM is throwing me for a bit of a loop, I'm not used to it, I haven't had one for 20 months! I've also been eating off plan the past few days, which has affected the scale as well. Hopefully things sort themselves out soon!

Ugh, it's been a frustrating week...with weight loss, work, etc. I have gained a pound. No off plan eating, lots of exercise, just frustrating. Fortunately, or unfortunately, I've been down this road more times than I can count so I know just to be patient. The weight loss will catch up soon enough.

June 1st is my daughter's birthday, so I'd love to be down a few pounds by then. Mostly I want to check in every day so that I continue to count calories and stay on track!

I'm nursing my 2.5 month old, so I'm not sure how many pounds I'll actually be able to lose. But it would be great to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight by the end of May.

Iron Core Kettlebell. I bought the DVD set on Amazon after reading reviews of a lot of the various offerings. Apparently Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels have good workouts but horrible form and I didn't want to start out doing things the wrong way and injure myself.

Down 2lbs today! I think you ladies would call that a whoosh! That's the gym for ya. And that makes me close to the two-teens!

I am just about to leave for the airport from which I will be traveling to Turkey for two weeks for work. I hope to keep my posts going although they may be at funny times. Travel scale is packed although the weights will need to be slightly estimated as it consistently weighs 0.8-1lb LESS than my main scale. So be patient with me.

I skipped my exercise after work yesterday and made unproductive choices at the restaurant last night so i am surprised not to have seen an increase this morning. Perhaps I'm benefiting from a good week of workouts. OK - back on today with eating to plan (no dining out anticipated) and a good run after work planned. It is a beautiful sunny day!!

I was up one pound this morning. Not that I've been trying to hard but a gain is tough to take at this point. I wonder why? I have been feeling really bloated and bleh all week. Haven't exercised since Tue but been doing lots of gardening so it's not like I'm being a couch potato. Grrr. I've been really tired this week too. Hopefully it snaps soon! Missed boot camp today to do a volunteer gig for my daughter's jr. high. I'd like to make up a routine to do instead or find something on line.
Congrats on the 10 pounds wolfgirl! I can't wait for that day!!

I'll tell you about it while I am there NorthernChick! Just because I'm away, don't mean I am gonna miss 3FC! I am posting this right now from the airport lounge in Frankfurt, Germany while I wait for my connecting flight. I had to skip the meals on the plane because they were all too high calorie. I just drank wine instead.

I won't be able to weigh in today because my travel scale is in my luggage so I will weigh in tomorrow instead. I hope the gym at the hotel is nice. I intend to go there either tonight or tomorrow morning.

I'm gonna jump in on this too. I lost some weight a couple months back after months of plateau/gaining only to gain it back. If I can just lose 5 lb that's better than what I've done lately.

Curvycurly yes I do weight watchers the whole time I am on plan. I had come down to 147 lbs with it and kept it off for over 3 years and then let things slide. I have tried south beqch diet while still eating within my points and had good phase one losses but I like sweet things too much to do that for long. You will be at goal soon! You're doing great!

Thanks Sue and Saharag. I've arrived and just did an hour in the hotel gym. Beer is so-so. Wine is better, so it's wine for dinner instead of the usual beer. The salads look great though so lunch for the next two weeks is sorted.

I get to weigh in tomorrow on my travel scale. So stay tuned. Could be water or whoosh.

It weighs consistently 1lb less than my main scale so I will report the adjusted value with the travel scale's actual reading in brackets to avoid any unncessary shocks when I get home.

I love my travel scale.

Hey everyone okay yesterday I did great! But I had half my daily calorie allowance left and my set time limit for when I can eat (I don't like to eat late at night) was almost up and for some people it's okay for one day but this has been happening a lot plus I have a history of starving myself. So I at them all in one sitting. This morning I woke up feeling a little bloated and "going" like crazy. But I'm feeling happy and positive so it doesn't bother me today! :D It'll go away tomorrow.

Haven't weighed in, but I did start C25K today and am signed up for a triathlon (5K run, 2 mi swim, 10 mi bike). I was a little worried about running today, because I can still feel the soreness from running so hard two days ago (and then walking a lot yesterday.) But I came back from W1D1 without a limp and feeling pretty good (other than a minor headache), so I think I'm okay. :)

And thanks urockmom. It is difficult to stay OP when traveling but with some forward planning (bringing a scale, finding the gym etc.), it can be done. I wouldn't recommend doing that for a honeymoon or even a vacation, but for work I really don't want to go off plan.

Okay well I didn't lose a pound but I'm still really positive and happy! :D I went under 170! YAAAAAAAAAY!!! I think the reason I didn't lose the weight that one day is because I ate half my calories in one sitting-messed with my metabolism. But I won't be doing that anymore thanks to the advice of some 3fc members on some high calorie foods to eat :D

It was my weigh in day today, and after accomplishing next to nothing in the month of April, I have lost 3lbs!!! That means I'm already halfway to my goal for this month! I'm so happy right now :carrot: even my ticker is more than halfway towards the end :D

I didn't want the number on the scale to discourage me, I've been really bloated lately. Hopefully, I can get back on track this week. I know I will be pushing it for 10 lbs this month but I'm going to make it as far as I possibly can.

Although I've been working on it, my usual MO is to be On Plan during the week and to have difficulty remaining the same on the weekends. This weekend I hosted 2 dinner parties and was invited out to someone's home for Brunch. On a positive note, none of it was over the top indulgence, but at the same time it is the type of behavior that will keep me from reaching my goals. Getting back on the Horse today for a strong week!

I was a bit surprised (in a great way) at the scale this morning. I had expected my somewhat indulgent (meaning food wise and wine wise) weekend to have a bigger impact. I think that keeping focused on my exercise, throughout as well as keeping moderation in mind helped me pull through. I'm very happy to be down 3.1 lbs this week - great motivation to keep going! :carrot:

And I ate junk yesterday (Again I know-bad me bad!) and I had a Sonic regular sized shake (Which is pretty big actually) so I screwed up so bad. But hey it was just one day and it was a treat and I'm okay. I'm just happy I'm not bloated! I ate my shake WAY past my no eating time and it was big.

I was a bit surprised (in a great way) at the scale this morning. I had expected my somewhat indulgent (meaning food wise and wine wise)

Ignore the wine. It will not add jack. If you drink and that makes you eat more then that is the problem. But you can drink as much red as you like and it won't make a difference. Alcohol calories work diferently to food ones. I am the proof!

Just avoid the munchies!

I am gonna lose 100lbs without giving up a drop of beer OR wine. And, trust me, I drink A LOT!

Thanks for your post, Ian, I was reading with lots of interest your recent posts about beer and your approach of limiting food at the time. I knew that alcohol calories are "special" and are quite problematic when combined with food, but I hadn't thought of the flip side and its impact (or lack thereof) without food! I will most definitely keep this in mind. That said, nights out of drinking followed by lots of eating is the main reason I'm here, so it is an area I try to monitor closely now!

Way to go on your accomplishment this week, its especially impressive given you are not in your normal routine being away from home!

Beer was a red line for me that would have broken my diet "if I had to give it up".

What I noticed was that if I drunk (sometimes a lot, seriously, tons of the stuff or regularly) it did not affect my weight loss if I avoided ALL the bar food and junk I used to eat while drinking or, more commonly, after drinking.

So drinking on an empty stomach works for me. I get the social, without the gain. I miss the food, but heck who cares at a bar? It could just be me, but I truely believe there is something more to it. I have consumed 1000+ calories of "alcohol", on single nights, without the same effect as food calories.

So try drinking without eating. The absolute opposite of what we are told!

For example, with colleagues I have just sunk five glasses of red wine and a beer tonight.

Check my ticker tomorrow. Gain?...it ain't gonna happen.

Time for bed. It's 12.17am in Turkey!

A little late to the party I know, but here goes...

I'm jumping back on the wagon after falling off hard. After being puot on medication for depression, I gained nearly 2 stone in 8 weeks! completely irradicating the stone it took me a year to lose and then some!

My goal is to get down to a "Healthy" BMI by my family holiday to florida at the end of August. I want to feel comfotable and look good in a bikini for the first time in my life.

So, here I am trying to lose 10lbs a month. Ok, 10lbs in 3 weeks now, so it might take some elbow grease!

Argh. I thought I was done with my once a week gain because of the gym. But what used to happen every Tuesday has now just happened on a Thursday. Up 1.0lb today.

Anyway, I just did some cardio at the gym on my weight training rest day. I ran 2 miles (3 kilometers) in 20 minutes on the treadmill. My personal best ever. I couldn't even run that at school!

The scale has finally moved, but in the wrong direction :(

Iang: My diet -

Breakfast: Egg whites with brown bread / Oats or Muesli cereal / upma (Indian recipe made from roasted semolina)

Lunch and dinner : grilled Chicken breast or grilled fish with a side salad (only using healthy dressing) / Indian Vegetable, chicken or fish curry (made in a healthy spicy tomato gravy, using olive oil- no butter, no cream, no fatty ingredient; also no starchy vegetables like potato, all healthy ones) with chapatti (Indian bread)

Also, during lunch I indulge in a little rice sometimes (around half a soup bowl)

Evening : a bowl of soup / sprouts salad / low fat yogurt

In between snacks (only if the hunger is driving me crazy): a fruit / handful of roasted peanuts / munch on carrots or cucumber

I guess, you may not know much about Indian Food or it is generally considered greasy and unhealthy; but that’s the case only if you go in restaurants. I have home-cooked meals and modify it based on my requirements...

Cutting down on this is really gonna be difficult but I will try. Will also probably stop consuming rice and see how it goes!!

I think the rice and the chapatti bread will do it appyfizz if you can cut those. And lose the peanuts. I used to eat a lot of sushi and the rice in that never made me lose. I also used to eat nuts as a snack, but too many calories in those.

No rice will be tough for an Indian though.

Hi - I'm jumping in here a little late but need the motivation NOW! After most of my weight loss occurred before Christmas last year, I consciously let up for a while and maintained for the last 4 months during which time I didn't weigh myself (I was driving myself crazy with the scale). I was very happy to see this week that my weight was exactly the same as when I stopped really pushing for weight loss, so I guess the 4 months of no loss was worthwhile in that I learned what I need to do in the future to maintain.

But now I want to go back into weight loss mode. And here I am! I started weighing myself earlier this week and my goal for the rest of May is a very ambitious 8 lb. After the first couple of months, I've never been able to lose more than 5 lb per month, but I'm working out regularly now so that should help.

Start 5/6: 168.2
Goal 5/30: 160

I was super afraid to get on the scale this morning. I have been eating the same but exercised a lot less for the last two week due to recovery from a sinus infection. I also skipped last week's weigh in because I didn't want to face a false loss in lbs or gain:^: Anyway with much hesitation I jump on the scale and to my surprise there was a 4.6 lb loss, I am so freakin excited:carrot:.

Here I am so far... jumped in late. I'm completely new to 3fc, and this thread has been so so so so so so good for me. In the past, I've tried to lose weight on my own. This is my first time to join and actually participate in something like this. And I think I've always thought something was wrong with me... that the weight wasn't coming off fast enough. Or easy enough. Or that I just wasn't doing something right. And I'm starting to finally understand that this is just plain hard for everyone.

Don't give up appyfiz! I know it can be soo frustrating when the scale wont budge or goes up. I was recently stuck at 190-192 for like a month! I would get down to 189 and I would be super excited then the next day back to 192! It was very very frustrating. Thankfully I think I am finally starting to drop again. You just have to stick with it and know that that if you are following plan then eventually the scale HAS to go down. What kind of plan are you following? Are you making sure you're eating the correct portion sizes by weighing/ measuring? This was a big problem for me in the beginning and I realized I was taking in way more calories/points then I thought I was.
Don't worry about posting too much. This is what this place is for! We all support each other. Post/vent as much as you need :hug:

Curycurly, how exciting! Looks like you are making some good progress.

Appyfiz, I agree with curvycurly, this is a hard and frustrating journey, but it is well worth the reward. If you feel like your plan is not working try tweaking it or try something totally different. I don't know how many times I tried until I found something that worked for me. Regardless, we are here for you, and I wish you well on this journey :smug:

Just want to add... I think one of the best and most important changes I've made is not just the soda I've cut, but the TONS of water I've replaced it with. My legs/ankles are slimmer, and I know I'm dropping an insane amount of water weight.

Thought I had signed up for this thread at the beginning of the month, but I just looked back and I don't guess I did.

This month I am 100% stuck/plateaued at 148 lbs.

I think I have literally weighed the same for 3 or 4 weeks now. Before I was on TOM, the weeks after TOM, everything. It's like the same weight.

Frustrating, but I know I have been at a deficit so I just have to trust that it will catch up sooner or later.

Have experienced some NSVs this month. Like going shopping and being a full size down (from all 10's to all 8's) so I know my body is changing, but it seems like when it does that, I stop losing scale weight for a bit.

Maybe your body will only focus on one thing at a time? I don't know

But anyway going to start logging my weight when I can, b/c it is better for my sanity to actually SEE the numbers and realize the patterns. It makes it not feel so hopeless, and aimless.
