Let's move in the Merry Month of May!

This is our monthly exercise challenge thread. All are welcome, whether your goal is to walk ten minutes a day or train for a marathon.

State your goal and track it throughout the month with a supportive group encouraging each other to meet our goals. We'll compile our exercise goals into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration.

I'll be on vacation for part of month. I'll be walking a lot, but I don't want to count the minutes, so I'm going to set my goal lower this month to count the exercise when I'm not out of town.

My goal for May: 1000 minutes

My exercise goals for May:

Walking/Jogging/Biking: 150 km (90 miles)
PLUS
Other: An additional 500 minutes of weight training/etc. for the month

5/1 1:42 min gym including lifting program, squat challenge, and jump rope circuit.
5/2 rest day
5/3 1:12 min gym including JE lifting program, squats, and ab challenge, ran 1 mile
5/4 51 min ran 3 miles at the gym, squats challenge and did 55 pushups
5/5 rest but still walked around the mall for an hour
5/6 1 hour of yoga, 41 min running ran 2 miles, squat challenge
5/7 45 min Gym including cycling, JE lifting program, squat challenge, pushups


End of week 1-
Miles total: 6 miles
Hours total: 6 hours 18 minutes

5/8 1:43 min including cycling, squat challenge pushups, and 4 mile run.
5/9 1:49 minutes at gym ran 1 mile, lifting program, 70 push ups 40 min cycling
5/10 1:54 minutes ran 6 miles plus walked a mile as cool down and did my 220 squats for the challege.
5/11 rest
5/12 1:50 min 1mile warm up run, ab challenge, JE lifting, 20 minutes spinning, 225 squats, 75 pushups

I'm back in. To make tracking easier this month my goal is to do 20 cardio and 16 strength training workouts. I'm also going to track my total minutes and would like to hit 1000 minutes.

My Goal for May - to fit into that dress I saved for Memorial Day weekend :D

May 1 - ran!! :carrot: 20 mins treadmill (increasing speed by .1 KILLS it yo!), 30 mins elliptical!! Thought of attempting 30DS, epic fail!!
May 2 - 20 mins treadmill (getting the hang of running :D), 30 mins elliptical, weights (adductors, abductors, torso)
May 3 - 20 mins treadmill. 5 mins elliptical. (slow night cos of rush to match train schedule)
May 4 - 40 mins on the road.. running / walking (was soooooooo darn self conscious :o)
May 5 - 20 mins treadmill (running is getting tougher with speed.. LOVE it), 30 mins elliptical !! :carrot:
May 6 - stairs to 6th floor office, 20 mins running on treadmill, 30 mins elliptical, torso and lower back strength!
May 7 - stairs up 6 floors at work, 20 mins treadmill, 30 mins elliptical, torso!!
May 8 - stairs @ work & that's it :( (i dont even know why i didnt go to the gym)
May 9 - 6 floors by stairs, 20 mins treadmill, 30 mins elliptical - felt powerful :carrot:
May 10 - another day of zilch exercise!! (TOM) -> that's two days in this month I've slacked :(
May 11 - swept and mopped the whole apartment! I think I was sweating as much as I normally do after my cardio! but no gym today :(

Tabbycat, I think this is a great goal! I'm slowly working my way to attempt a long mileage (for me at least) running goal, but I'm not quite there yet. Doing a combination mileage goal seems to be the next best thing for me.

i am in for this challenge!

i will count hours, and i will aim for 20 hours

my goal is to start running again, so i will aim for 3 times a week, starting at 2km on day one, and seeing progress each time even if it is 100 meters.

goal number two is stupid but... GO TO THE GYM! 3 times a week would be great. is the last month i have my membership, it's stupid not to use it!

Hi, everyone!
So, April turned out to be a total fail after the wedding happened (wedding = win, exercise vacation = FAIL). Let's try again, shall we?

My goal is to do kettlebell workouts for at 320 minutes this month in honor of my 32nd birthday. I'll do other wrokouts, but for getting back on track, I'm setting my stated goal modestly.

I'm a little late to the party, but would like to join the exercise challenge this month. My goal is pretty modest - I want to go for a run 10 times this month. I'll track my mileage/speed progress too (I'm hoping to see some improvements by the end of the month), but my goal is really to just make the time to run a couple times per week.

I don't think I'm going to make goal for my arms this month. I over did it this weekend and my left shoulder (bad arthritis) is KILLING me. It's been 3 days and I still want to rip my arm off my body it hurts so bad! :mad:

I did do the knee/leg PT today. My legs are starting to feel strong!

SuperHeroTeacher: Hope you find your equilibrium with the arms, soon. It takes awhile to figure out what the sweet spot of exercise is, I think. Too little exercise and things hurt, too much exercise and things hurt. My shoulders need a lot of stretching -- I've been carefully and slowly adding a bit of strength-training to the upper body.

Still OP! Finished second week of C25K today, have been doing strength training with nerdfitness.com, I love that site! I haven't lost much weight, scale bounces up and down but did lose an inch off my waist and half inch off arms and thighs!

No doubt you'll meet your goal chickadee! I'm impressed how you alternate your treadmill and outdoor runs. Do you find that this has helped you become a better and/or stronger runner?

Saturday was my first outdoor run in almost exactly a year! (baby break) I prefer the treadmill, but used to try to get one outdoor run in each week. I've been too afraid to try again until my sister convinced me to go with her this weekend. :) In general though I think doing a mix of both is good for me, as they push me in different ways. I hope that I'll start doing more outdoor runs again when I get to the point where not every run feels so hard. Right now I kind of just survive them, lol.

I completely failed this month. I did start running, but I didn't even come close to goal. I relapsed on the smoking......
Eating has been ok...just need consistency. I'm going to keep trying though. I'm signing up for June now. Time to pick myself up and roll on!

I totally fit into that dress over the weekend :D :carrot: :D and my bf said I looked sexy :D;):D I missed a lot of gym days this month ((My May Exercise Log) (http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/4726100-post17.html)) but I'm still calling it May GOOOOOOOAAL!! I was doing so well, even though I definitely over-estimated the number of actually workout I was going to get in, and then this last week happened and I got lazy. I still have 2 days to get over 1000 minutes, which should have been no problem. Oh well, I'm about to make a proper schedule for next month's workouts.

05/01- Cardio (1/20) Total time: 128/1000 (Hike and run)
05/02- OFF
05/03- Cardio (2/20) Strength Training (1/16) Time= 46min (174/1000)
05/04- Officially none, walked all day though!
05/05- Cardio (3/20), Strength Training (2/16) Time= 60min (234/1000)
05/06- Cardio (4/20) Time=37 min (271/1000)
05/07- OFF (was supposed to do Strength, got lazy)
05/08- Cardio (5/20) Time=33 min (304/1000)
05/09- see the 7th.
