Dieting with Obstacles - Anyone Paleo and Hypothyroid?

I've been reading and reading and reading since my diagnosis and I'm going to give Paleo a whirl (again). I tried it prior to getting on meds and it did give me a bit more energy at first until my thyroid seemed to give up all together. I blamed Paleo, but it was probably my thyroid.
Anyone here Hypothyroid and doing Paleo want to share their experience?

I'd happily join here. I believe I'm hypo and am about to get tested (again) for it. I've been doing Paleo, off and on, for a couple years. I've gone through phases of depleted exhaustion and was wondering why all those lovely benefits of energy that others experienced with a Paleo diet weren't being bestowed on me.

I got a shot in the arm of energy when I started paleo at the beginning of my thyroid troubles but it faded fast. Now that I'm medically controlled (or getting there anyway) I would like to see what benefits the diet can hold for me as well.

I was just reading up on hypo and treating it with a Paleo diet (http://chriskresser.com/low-t3-syndrome-iv-an-autoimmune-disease-youve-never-heard-of). I'm going to start tomorrow with a refined attack with the diet. I never tried eliminating dairy, so I think for the next 30 days I'll go with that. I'm also going to eliminate eggs and nightshades. I had already eliminated all things soy, grains, legumes, sugar and refined/processed foods. Now I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to have for breakfast tomorrow!
I have struggled with taking vitamins on a regular basis, but I do know that I'm very low on D3. As of tomorrow morning, I'm back on my vitamin protocols.
If you don't mind, I'd like to track my status here. I find that sending my progress out on the Internet helps me stay true to my mission.

I was really dragging today, again. I actually forgot to start on my elimination diet this morning. I ate my eggs out of routine!
So, I decided that for the next 24 to 48 hours, I'm going to do a water fast. I want to clean my system out, and then do a 30-day elimination diet. My food list will just be grass-fed or wild-caught protein sources, healthy fats and lots of organic veggies and maybe a little fruit. Plus I'll continue on my vitamins and lots of clean water. It'll be good to give my tummy a break.

well...the problems with fasting is that I'm so GOSH DARNED HUNGRY!!!
I had a cup of hot tea so far. Trying to wait this out. Other than the intense, genuine hunger, I feel fairly clear-headed this morning. Still tired from not enough sleep, however. Perhaps a short morning nap.
Morning weight was 316.4 lbs.

you may find some information by looking up Dr. Arem Ridha. His web page gives info on supplements and nutrition and he just released a book on diet and thyroid disease. I have not read it, but it is probably reviewed on Amazon.

I ended up napping for a couple hours yesterday morning. It really helped me with my energy levels. And I made it till 3 with the fasting. This is my old intermittent fasting pattern that I like so much. I ate a big salad with a can of soy-free pole-caught tuna, half a can of sliced olives, really good olive oil and seasoned rice vinegar. No reaction! I stayed alert for an hour, but then got really hungry. So I cooked up a couple strips of the Niman Ranch bacon. Got a reaction to those, I think. I got achy and sleepy. I went to work, pushed myself with a good cardio and TRX workout for an hour and felt really great afterwards. Had fish, green beans and cole slaw for dinner and did fine with that as well. I stopped eating by 9 p.m.
This morning I've skipped breakfast again. I had a lovely cup of Earl Gray tea. I only slept 6 hours, so I think I'll go back to bed for a short nap.
Rana, thank you for the blog link. I will be reading more of it later today, but from what little I read, it interests me. I like how she's experimenting with herself and tracking it all.
Lolo, I read the reviews about Dr. Ridha's work on Amazon. There were a lot of interesting perspectives. I am going to Houston this summer, so I might pop in to have a chat with him! Thanks!
I have some older books on hypothroid diets. Have to dig in my garage to find them again!

I missed out on some sleep over the weekend. I think tonight I'll be going to bed earlier than usual. But today was a good day with respect to energy levels. I think cleaning up my diet a bit more over the weekend helped some.
I'm really hungry tonight and I'm struggling to resist the urge to eat starchy carbs. I'm dreaming of fried bread! Perhaps I need some more vegetables.

My energy is pretty steady right now, but I think my meds need adjusting as my hair and eyelashes have started to fall out again and my hives have come back. I wasn't tracking calories but now I am and finding that I really am not eating much, aside from my 8-430 desk job, during the summer I have a side job mowing lawns for a landscaping company and I clean the local cable company 2 nights a week. I haven't been formally working out since spring cleanup started, but according to my body bugg I'm burning tons of calories, I'm just not losing weight. The crazy fluctuations are back too, up 8 lbs, down 4, I don't really know what's going on. Maybe not just my thyroid?

I'm borderline hypothyroid, though fibromyalgia, autoimmune disease and arthritis are my bigger obstacles. Lowish carb paleo seems to improve ALL my health issues.

Still hanging in with the Paleo, my appetite though is pretty non existent. I know it goes against the whole Paleo mentality, but if I don't schedule meals I won't really eat at all. Anyone else deal with that? My weight still not budging of course.

I am slightly hypothyroid, too. I only broke my many month plateau after going on Armour plus supplements. My sister lost several pounds, too, after taking sea iodine and kelp. I have heard various things about how much iodine is healthy to take. Too much iodine can cause a "thyroid storm", and have long term adverse effects according to some doctors.
I eat primal, since I still eat dairy.
I sometimes do not get hungry in the morning, as long as I have my (organic) coffee, (which according to Paleo I should try to wean myself off of.) Afternoons are often another matter.
