Starting the Memorial Day Challenge!! My goal is the same as last challenge - 6 pounds and to ramp up my excercise - True confession: I haven't been so great on the excercise routine and I need to commit!!

Can't weigh but walked for an hour this morning!!! Hope the scale is kind to me tomorrow - I've eaten on plan but still struggle with portion control!!!

Scale was kind to me this morning 203!! Hoping to see less of me in the next few days - walk already planned for later today!!! My daughter commented on my weight loss when I got home last night - after not seeing me for a few days - that made me happy and help boost my attitude - this is a marathon not a sprint.....

Reporting 203 again today and walked for 30 minutes yesterday - walked with my husband and his knee is bothering him - Planning a long walk on my own for today - loving the nice weather before the bugs come out!!! So glad ice and snow are gone but dreading black flies and mosquitos!!!

Thank you Lulu and good for you and your husband - its nice to have that time together too with undivided attention with each other :) but I am sorry his knee is bothering him.. Is it arthritis, or muscle ache? I hope an aspirin (or such) is the cure and nothing else is needed. SPRING is here.. Hip Hip Horayyyy and I know what you mean about biting insects... We have small midges that we call No See ums... and they are obnoxious! Like little tiny specks and they leave BIG time welts.... walking fast doesn't help.. they find you... Only thing that works well is A**n's Skin So Soft... :)

When I walk outdoors, I use the little fans that blow insect repellent. They work well, and you don't have to spray anything on your skin.

I walked for over one hour yesterday with my daughter!! and plan to walk again today!! but I think my scale is stuck!!!! no change to report today - it's hard to be patient - I want results yesterday........

I went up alittle... sigh.. and I don't even want to see it in writing LOL.... I have been so good..... But I am retaining water like nuts... My feet are swollen and I drink plain ole water about 40+ oz a day.. I guess I need to really lower my sodium. Its so hard to see puffy skin over my sandal straps (and its just been in the last 3 weeks that this had happened and I weigh less) Just don't know.

Glad everyone is walking... ME TOO (2.25 last night) trying to do 10 miles a week. Have a truly wonderful day!

Hi everybody,
I was here a couple of months ago but fell off the wagon. I lost 22 but put 6 back on so...only 16 off since Jan. I would like to join this challenge, stay focused and see what I can do in a month. I will add my loss to the already 16 rather than start on 0, for personal motivation ;), I hope that's Ok with you. Thank you and best of luck to us all!

True confession: Didn't walk yesterday and weighed twice!!ugh!!

I am retaining water this week too Wannaskipandlaugh and it is making me crazy!! I read on some blogs not to get wrapped up in daily scale movements and that water retention is normal from exercise. Plus I know I ate extra salt this weekend!!

Planning to walk today....and to stay off the scale for a little while!!

Lulu I think I will do that same...... the scale DOES NOT RULE ME.. LOLOLOL and I woke up this morning feeling lighter well maybe the next time I weigh (next year at this rate LOL) it will show it LOL

ARGH that is what I say. LOL well Just keep plugging as it does work (we know it) and it will show it :)

Still the same weight.... I have not lost anything for a week now... Something is up ..... 6 weeks ago this same thing happened... so I know that the stall will go away... I just am amazed that at my weight that I have a stall... sad sue.... Going out to Longhorn for my Mom's birthday and having a steak and a salad.... more sodium... but I only eat steak out and am going to enjoy it.

I hope that you all had a good weekend and the scale is nice to you today!

Hi - Reporting 203 again today - I know this is a long journey but I do wish the scale would move faster - not sure why I suddenly got so wrapped up in the scale - I was doing pretty good not obsessing about numbers. Wishing downdowndown for everyone!!!

Well FINALLY I am down. YEAH... I am exactly 1/4 of the way to my goal... I am 269 and that was so hard to get to too. Geesh.... So now I can hope for a fly by thru these 60's I am hoping.

Hey there! Yes, cravings are going! Drinking loads of water...I need to make better choices with prepping food at night for lunch. I ate ham and salami roll-ups for lunch yesterday and today with a mayo/dijon dip. I think I'll be getting a Chipotle burrito bowl for dinner tonight! :)

Oh noooo, the burrito bowl is basically a burrito in a bowl instead of the wrap. I get chicken, lettuce, grilled peppers and onions and tomatoes only. Total carb count is around 8 grams.

Hi Add me to that Challenge -- I hit 259 this morning, haven't seen that number for more than a decade. I challenge myself to weigh 249 at the end of this month. To do that I'll stay on my 20 carbs a day plan AND really step up the exercise. REALL REALLY step up the exercise! This is a big goal I've set for myself, but I feel empowered to go for it and have this May be a HUGE PUSH for liberty from 10 more fat pounds!

I'm burning off my fat stores ONE FAT CELL at a time!!!:carrot:

I haven't seen 210 or lower for 25 years LOL. When that happens.. Well they say there's no earthquakes in southern Florida.... well its gonna sound like there was! LOL

Fatkrl.... Gosh.. I just did not see the word bowl LOLOLOL I understand and that actually sounds Delish..... I am watching my parents cats for the next few weeks and there is a Chipotle next street over....Gonna go see that menu!! and try something GOOODDDDDD :)

Welcome Elizabeth!!Congrats on 259!! Isn't it wonderful to see a number you haven't seen in a long time!! Wish I had stuck to Atkins 10 years ago - lesson learned!! Probably not drinking enough water but I am true to the plan.

WannaskipandlaughThanks for the support - Plateau is a 4 letter word!! Still at 203 and when I look at my calendar I see I was stuck at 208 for quite awhile too!!!

True confession: I am on daily prednisone so I am happy that I have been able to lose 22 pounds so far - not going off of it any time soon so it will continue to be a slow slow slow process for me.

Hi Everyone!!! Celebrating 202 today!!!! Yeah - really, really, really happy the scale moved!! I think I need a t-shirt that says "I survived a plateau!!"

I spent some time with Dr. Atkins this weekend and was considering a fat fast if the scale was still at 203 this morning. Very thankful for my book and the support on this forum!!!

Happy Tuesday!!! 201 today!! - really can't believe the scale moved again for me!! I am at the border of Onederland - It's been 17 weeks and 24 pounds - a little less than 1 and 1/2 pounds per week weight loss since I started in January!!

Happy Friday!! - 199 today!! Yahoo!! Started this challenge at 203 and I am down 4 pounds - maybe I will make goal of 6 pounds by Memorial Day....pretty sure the scale will stay the same for awhile after this week - can't imagine my body will let go of much more for the next few days/week - May has been very kind to me!!!

I have to change my tracker at some point but I'm not ready to do it yet - my final goal is 153-160 but it seems so far away that I need mini goals. The lowest weight I've had is 178 as an adult and even that seems difficult. Going to aim for 188 - 11 pounds and then revisit my tracker.....

Wannaskipandlaugh 6 pounds down already this challenge is so great!! You are totally o track to make your goal - so happy for you!!! Thanks soooo much for your support - it helps me to stay on plan.

Day 2 of 199!! True Confession: My body is starting to get wrinkly and I am losing my "butt shelf" - the extra fat on top of the fat - if that makes sense! Oh and my 18W jeans are starting to get loose...

Oh Lulu....Still thrilled for you.... and having size 18 getting loose well :woohoo: We likey that!! How do you feel? Do you feel thinner? are you doing any strength exercises to tone up the muscle for the skin? I am trying.. but being 55 eh... the skin is NOT elastic anymore LOL but it helps alittle..... Wannaskipandlaugh I do feel thinner - lots of clothes don't fit anymore - I feel the loss most on my backside and least at my waist - I'm an apple - so my pants get real loose before I can actually change a size because of my waist. I need to work on strength training especially for my arms!

Isn't it nice to have the physical proof of our loss - looser clothes! Me too... I am a pear and my kiester and hips are really the last to go... but I have lost 5 inches on my hips (which were30 inches too big) compared to 6 inches on my chest lol. I always lose the top first. But wearing clothes that start to fall off is nice. Your Waist and my hips... we will just start telling them to slim down and mean it lol or else lol Have a really nice Sunday and (I wasn't sure) Happy Mothers day to you and your mom.... (I don't have kids just cats lol)

Good Morning Wannaskipandlaugh I spent some time with the slim fast calculator (I don't do slim fast) and a BMI calculator in the past few days so I added a new ticker but didn't change my old one yet. I realized that I need to lose about 50 more pounds so I am 1/3 of the way to ultimate goal - I don't know why it is such a struggle for me to accept this and just keep moving on but it is. It was easier for me to accept adding up the pound lost moving forward than looking at an ultimate goal weight - I know this sounds crazy....Still committed to updating my first tracker when I get to 188. Still can't believe I got to 199 that seemed like a lofty goal!!! Oh and the slim fast calculator estimated about December and by my own calculations it will take 1 year since I started to get to where I ultimately want to be....

Hello Lulu.... I also did a calculator and put in my altimate final weight and it told me that if I ate 1800 calories a day (really?!) that I would make it there by Oct 2014... lol It seems so far away but I am also only eating about 1200-1400 calories a day so should be faster I hope. So no you are NOT crazy... I understand!! It is strange for me too to look ahead.... It kinda makes me feel like its forever.. I kinda like these challenges with a short term time frame More Comfy :) I can't wait to see what your weight is when you finally get to your scale... I am guessing 196.8 just a guess :)

Hello Lulu.... Walking is a good thing.... I was doing 10 miles a week and then hurt my ankle... and have been taking care of my parents place for 2 weeks now but I am starting back walking 2 1/2 miles 4 x's starting Sunday :) I cannot wait. I am just still alittle too heavy and out of shape to do power walking yet... but LS walkaway... I heard about that. Let me know Lulu what you think! :) and I wish your scale had moved again... but its still under 200 and that is just Marvelous!! Have a really nice day.

Happy Monday!! I met my goal plus some already for this challenge!!! 8 pounds down since we started in April!! I wanted to lose 6 pounds during this challenge!! 196 this morning and we have 1 week to go!! This man I work with has been maintaining a 66 pound loss for 4 weeks - he weighs 214 - like me he stuggles with overeating if he goes off plan - that's the part of the journey I am most concerned with - how to maintain......

Lulu you impress me sooo much. I am so very happy for you... About maintaining... yikes... I have at least a year to think about it.. but yeah... I know that I would like to ease my mind up a bit and not be as strict.... but maybe I do?! I know that when I am alittle less and more mobile so to speak (can sit on the ground and get up without Humpfing out loud lol) I will be exercising more. I know that muscle (even tho it weighs more) does burn calories alot more just to maintain itself... so that is just 1 thing I know I will be doing for the rest of my life... Walking (for sure) Zumba? Eliptical? swimming etc Lulu are there things that you are thinking of doing for yourself when you get to your desired weight?

196 again today!!! Went to the doctor yesterday - he is so happy I am down 29 pounds - actually impressed - he said if someone can lose 10 pounds that is awesome!! and I am well past 10 pounds like so many of us on this forum!!!

WannaskipandlaughYou ask a really good question and I have no idea what I will do for myself when I get to my desired weight - I've always done everything I want to although the bigger I am the more difficult it is - like climbing a mountain!! My family has always stuck by me even when I am the straggler!! Do you want to do another challenge after this? What date sounds good to you? Hope you have great news today!!!

Oh Lulu.... I am so happy for you... To have your doctor be impressed HA that is like the "cherry on the top of the sundae" as my grandmother used to say :) I bet that put alittle more bounce in your step (sorry about all the cliche's lol)

Your family sounds wonderful and caring and sounds like they never even considered leaving you out of the trips and adventures.. :) That is nice... gosh.. these last few years I would ask and ask and ask my parents to please sit at a table in a restaurant as I would wedge myself into a booth and it got to the point where I would be seeing them sitting in a booth and then walk in and tell them that I had other plans but wanted to say hi.... so after I lost enough weight to fit (Feb)... now my parents want to sit at a table and I'm like... no NOW I can sit in a booth (They are 78 & 82 so I am giving them a break based on memory but lord how things happen lol)

I am thinking that this lifetime lesson for me is to learn patience (with myself and others) and learn to love myself... Tough lessons... :)

I am still so happy for you... after doing that 4 letter word "plateau" in your post.. look what has happened to you :) YOUR patience has paid off big time:)

Okay time to post weight... I did lose 1/2 whoppie... but at least it did not go up... I was BAD BAD BAD last night (kinda gave up alittle) and ate 6 small Reeses eggs that I bought at Easter, that were sitting in the WAY back of my fridge to have when I was down 50,,,,, well 9 lbs too early lol I got over that desire now.. whew... BACK IN THE FREEZER now.. OH Shoot I told myself where I put them.. argh... lololololol

Oh Lulu.. I am glad you have someone really supportive in your family. My mom is now trying to do that... but when she starts cheerleading.. it just does not feel genuine... Lulu that Potato salad sounds smart... I have never tried cauliflower besides as a regular veggie (and hated it) does it just taste better when treated like a potato? :) ANOTHER lb... Lulu.. you are all set to not splurge... You are sooooo good :) Please tell me about the taste of Cauliflower :) I just am not a fan of regular and have heard that it takes on the flavor of the over items in a dish... :)

194 this morning!! Very happy that I feel comfortable in the clothes I bought 6weeks ago - I bought 2 outfits but wasn't feeling super confident - too snug - but my sister always says I buy my clothes too big - anyway they are comfortable now!! My son is graduating high school in 2 weeks and I know I will look good!!

About the faux potato salad - LOVE it!! but I read at another website that some people are turned off by the strong taste/smell and when my daughter came into the kitchen she was turned off by the smell. Some sites recommend cooking for about 7 minutes until florets are fork tender and not to overcook or the taste gets stronger??? never heard that one - anyway I added 2 chopped hard boiled eggs - 4 slices bacon - some raw minced onion - a little mustard - and mayonaise to the cooked and cooled cauliflower and I really enjoyed it - I'm going to make it more often this summer - of course I have to be prepared to eat it for days because no one else will touch it!! Plan to have it with a beautiful cheeseburger today!!

Happy Memorial Day!!! Started this challenge at 204 and ended at 194!! Made my goal plus some!!! Wannaskipandlaugh can't wait to see what today brings for you!!! Last day of faux potato salad....I have some nice small zucchini to make today!!

Wannaskipandlaugh I want to share a NSV - I can wear my size 18 Van Heusen shorts again - Haven't been able to do that for 10 years - they are microfiber so they feel good and look good!! I saved them all this time because I remembered how good I felt when I could wear them before - so glad I can start the summer out this way!!! I tried a pair of 16W pants but I still have about 5 inches before I can button them - I think I have to get way closer to 178 before that happens!!! Unexpected victory today!!!

Lulu Oh gosh wearing clothes that you had loved and they fit again.... well that is just about as good as a great scale reading. I am VERY Happy for you. That is just wonderful!!! Wearing those shorts.... you can think back to 10 years ago and remember how you felt and feel that light again. I bet you ...... that 16's will happen within 10 lbs.... Maybe July 28th? (just picked a no out of my head that works alot of the time!!) :)
