Smile Almost back

Hi! I wanted to write to say that I'm all moved (and what a total disaster that was). I got up at 7:30am on Saturday and went to pick up my Uhaul, and they didn't have a truck for me! I was so mad because I booked it 30 days in advance and called twice to confirm the reservation. I left the Uhaul building crying because they (and all the other Uhaul locations) were all booked out for trucks and they had NOTHING for me.

I got back to my old place, and I called my mom on my cell (still crying) and she brought my dad's pickup (it has a high canopy on it) to me, and Charles went to the other side of the city and borrowed a friend's minivan that was missing all the back seats. So we loaded up the pickup, van and my car and my friend's car and drove to my new place and packed boxed up three flights of stairs in the heat. Charles called Uhaul and got irate with them, they managed to get me a truck but not until 3pm. And then Jordanna (my daughter) came back from her dad's place early - he just showed up at my new place and I was all the way on the other end of the city without a car (he was supposed to call 20 min before he was going to get there). Thankfully one of the ladies that works in her daycare also lives at my new apt building, so she watched Jordanna so I could get back to the south side.

We had a friend come and pick up Jordanna (my mom was supposed to take her for the night but I lent my car to my mom in exchange for the pickup, and she drove home -45min away- and locked herself out of my car so she couldn't come get Jordanna). We finished moving by 9pm, then went over to where Jordanna was, had supper, then drove Jordanna out to my mom's place, switched vehicles, came back to the city, got the Uhaul, returned it then came home again. By this time it was 2am and I didn't get a chance to record as planned (thanks to Uhaul - never again will I use them, the customer service was also terrible). This was the third time I've tried to arrange to record this CD and something seems to go wrong every time -- maybe it's a sign?

Anyhoo, I've gotta get back to work. I called last week to get my dsl hooked back up, and it was supposed to be done yesterday. I called the phone company and it turns out the guy I spoke with never bothered to put a workorder in to get it hooked up, so I don't think I'll have internet at home until at least tomorrow night.

I miss you!

That is a moving day I would never want to experience! It is never easy moving but everything that could go wrong did. I hope you are nicely recovered.

Sounds like the moving day from ****! It's the stuff family legends are made of--maybe you can laugh about it in another, oh, 20 years!

Hope things are going better now.

thanks, I've decided that if I ever need to move again, I'm hiring movers. But it's such a relief to be all done. I should have my home internet connection back tonight (cross your fingers).

RAELYNN!!!

OMG! I have to move this weekend and I'm using U-Haul and you have now scared the crap out of me! I used movers once and they didn't show up, so I thought I would do it myself this time. Yikes!!!

I hope U-HAUL didn't charge you, those creeps!

Jessica, yeah they did charge me, but I needed to move that day, and I wasn't in any mood to argue with them. It cost me $81, mostly for mileage ($0.69/km). I will never ever use them again though.

Raelynn - if you have tangible proof that you reserved a truck, I would totally write to the main office and insist that they give you the rate you would have had normally.

Well that's what it would have cost me normally anyhow, only I should have had the truck at 9am instead of 3pm. and I had to pick the Uhaul up at the other end of the city, so I paid for alot of extra miles that I wouldn't have had to had the first Uhaul place had a truck for me.

But I got my internet back!!! I'm online again!
