I have skin darkening in my armpits, neck, my cleavage, and my this. Does this go away with weight loss? Has anyone experienced a lightening or the disappearance of these marks?
I'm going to continue working my food plan but I was just curious.
i have that exact same issue, and i have it around my mouth as well. i'm currently seeing a PCOS specialist who told me it is part of IR. i will be starting on metformin soon, and he said this should help clear it up. i've had this same problem since i was 13 (i'm now 24) so i am hoping this will work!
To me, it sounds like a insulin resistence (diabetic) rash, or a yeast infection due to insulin resistence, perhaps erythrasma. Losing weight will help. Failing that, antiboitcs for yeast/bacteria infections will help. Given that you are not diabetic yet, of course. Pre-diabetics, hypo, or hyper will net postive results. Full on diabetic, especially if diabeties is not controlled, you may find yourself struggling with this off and on for the rest of your life.
Best bet, if you are concerned, is get with your doctor. In fact, any kind of question like this really should be addressed with him/her.

AHHHH. Hadn't thought of that one. I was thinking along the terms of my mom. I guess I should have given my aunt had it when she was alive. Can still be caused by diabetes, but if I remember correctly, (granted it has been about 5 years since I've seen my aunt), it is usually caused by obesity, and everything else only rarely. I know hers did disappear, mostly, but I also know she was an undiagnosed diabetic and once she got every thing under control, it greatly faded. But, I suspect, losing weight will help. I really don't know on that front.
Yes, it should fade as your insulin gets more in check. I am only using alternate methods currently (diet controlled by low carbs, vitamins/supplements, exercise, etc.) I used to have darker skin around my mouth and neck, plus in the armpits and thighs. Now, there isn't any at all on my face or neck and what used to be much darker in my armpits and thighs have faded so much that I am pretty sure they will go away in time, too.

Mine on my neck and armpits are gone completely, my stomach is almost gone, and my girl parts are much lighter. I started my journey 2 1/2 years ago, and have had good insulin control (through diet and exercise only) for about 2 1/4 years.
