So I went and did my BMR because I've lost almost 23 pounds, according to the site it's 1820 with a TDEE of 2103 at lightly active. I'm already at 1624 which is "below" BMR already and only about a five hundred calorie deficit. I don't see anyway to continue at two pounds a week with those numbers. Even combining exercise limits I can do. Sigh I thought it would be a longer period before this happened.

And what was all that when it was speaking English?

:D

Sorry, I'm new and don't know the lingo yet --- can you elaborate?

Thanks!

Lol BMR is basal metabolic rate which is the number of calories your body "uses" to just function and TDEE is total daily energy expenditure which is what they estimate your normal daily calorie use is without extra exercise.

1lb = 3500 calories right? So 7 days x 500 calories gone a day = 3500 calories = 1lb a week.

I try not to get wrapped up in all those numbers as you can't really know what your BMR is. It's a guess.

And really, does it need to be a race? Does it need to be 2 pounds a week? Did you gain 2 pounds a week going up? (This is a tricky question as I "did" gain that much, that fast on my regain).

It takes time. It's more important to eat sustainably so that you can actually get to your end goal. HOW fast you fast you get there isn't really important, it's just eating healthier and moving more that really matters.

Sure, it can get easy to look at someone here or in your real life and go, "But SHE was able to drop 2 pounds a week up until the end!" Well, you aren't them. You don't have their body, mindset, genetics, abilities, etc.

But in the end, if you reach the same ends? Who cares how long it took to get there, right?

And also, about being short. Well... I figure, if I'm shorter, I must have less needs as I have less body to fuel. That also must mean my hunger must be less too. For my husband who is a. male, b. 6 inches taller than me, eating at my level would be AWFUL for him. He would feel way more hungry than I do as his needs are greater. So, I also figure someone who is 6" shorter than me would have an easier time eating the same amount I eat (or less) because they also have less body to fuel. Makes sense to me.

Couldn't you do 500 calorie deficit through food, and then add in another 200-300 per day in exercise?

Eventually I will so my height might be an over stated....I am shriiiinkkking!

We are have to play the cards we are dealt...so I am short and the tiniest bit of weight has no place to hide.

No advice, but an agreement that being short isn't awesome when it comes to weight loss! (I do, however, love it on airplanes and in theaters. :)) Hang in there!

That does make sense Berryblondeboys, it's not really that it's a race just kind of a bummer. The weight will come off I just like the two pounds sometimes more "lol don't we all". I take the exact numbers with a grain of salt but I like having an "idea" with it.

Candeka I do burn somewhere between 150 to 200 I just like having that as "extra" on top of my normal deficit.

I don't mind being short, but I don't like being so round.:)

Yea I'll be very happy to be less round and except the fact that buying pants will always be difficult even petite are two long normally.

:dizzy: I'm 5'-7" tall, but according to my BMI, I should be 5' - 10" tall. I go to the gym at least 3 times a week and I'm no taller than when I started! :dizzy:

They're just numbers and guidelines. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll be surprised at how quickly things change. The time will pass whether or not you're getting healthier! Good luck.

I know you're talking about BMR and not BMI but this is too funny. I must share

I've never had to deal with being short, but my sister who is 5'1 makes it sound like the greatest thing since sliced bread! You probably didn't have to worry about boys rejecting you for being taller than them, you've probably never been asked to palm a basketball like you were some kind of circus side act, you've never had to have your knees uncomfortably wedged in a car, etc. The grass is always greener on the other side. Unlike our weight, we can't really help how tall or short we are, but I can see why it might be tougher to lose weight.

I'm trying not to look at the numbers too much. I get that this is going to be a long and painful road, but not being blessed with the greatest patience in the world I get where you are coming from. And it seems a little mean that the weight comes off almost effortlessly when you first apply yourself and you start to expect that all the time.

I'm giving myself almost two years to lose a 150 lbs. If I lose it sooner, great...but the most important thing to me is that I do it right and form habits that I can live with for the rest of my life. You're doing great so far...just keep up the hard work!

Lmao thats funny curvy.

Your very right there Punk Rock, I've never had those issues. My best friend is tall she tells me all the time it's not as fun as it seems to us shorties. Though I'd love to not have to ask random people to hand me things off high selves in stores lol.
