Can being bloated make you gain weight?
Hello everyone. It has not been easy, but I am pretty sure I have been counting my calories right. I have been loosing 2 pounds a week. Here lately for some reason I have been having days that I really feel bloated. I was so disappointed when I weighted this morning, and saw I had gained a pound. I am just wondering can being bloated make you gain weight? Also, can eating snacks make you gain weight, even though it is within your daily calorie allowance? I am 58 years old, and now weigh 199. I try to stay within 1200 calories/day limit.

Yes being bloated is probably water retention. Even if you are within your calories if the foods are high in sodium you can/will retain fluid for a day or two. Snacking isnt bad again as long as you account for it but you should strive for healthy snacks even so. The fiber and complex carbs in fresh fruits and veggies are very beneficial to your body and your (cough) flushing mechanisms. Make sure you are getting your water in too.

I saw a lot of people that read my post, and no one replied. I thought "well I guess no one will reply, or no one is on here right now. Thank you sooooo much.

I started adding more fresh vegetables into my diet and OMG the bloat!! The scale was up a bit too but it fixed itself after a few days. I always drink about 80oz of water a day so between the water and the veggies, it adds weight but not "real" weight if that makes any sense?
I try to stay away from salt and salty snacks as much as I can but sometimes you just have to have them.

Now that I think about it, maybe the bloating is due to the large kosher dill pickles I had in my salad yesterday. I haven't had them in a while, and I know I had too much. Plus, I put a lot of light salt on the boiled egg I had in my salad. I had the salad for dinner, so I also had green olives, pepperoni, and a little ham, but I counted all the calories. The dressing was Kraft light Italian, and too much of that can certainly add salt. Thanks again.

Back to the salad. I also had a lot of fresh broccoli. I mean a lot. It was the fresh bagged broccoli, which was really too expensive for me to buy. Plus, I really don't think it digested too good on my stomach. Bad mistake.

Any time blessed! Even if you dont have to watch your sodium intake for medical reasons it really makes a difference every other way too! The veggie bloat will even out as your body adjusts to healthy like elvis said. Try to keep your sodium intake 1500 or less and you will be amazed at the differences u will see and feel in your body.
P.S. try mrs dash salt free seasonings they are awesome on any and everything.

It's ok, blessedfly!!! Your post made me smile about the 1000 in the pickles.
Just know when you are on the scale that it's not "real" weight gain and you will be fine.
Are we supposed to live without pickles our whole life?! NO WAY!!
Enjoy your pickles and drink a bit more water. It's all good!
