Just wanted to drop in and say hi. Today has gone pretty well. Tonight I'm going to look up more info on WW and hopefully start the program this week. :p

:( Last night I had a really strange experience. All of a sudden my hubby and I heard bunny screams. (If you've ever heard it you know how loud that is.) Anyway seems that one of my kitties brought it in from outside for a snack. It also seems this bunny was pretty smart and got away and hid in my laundry. :dizzy: So we followed the screams and found the little fellow. He was tiny. We put him in a cat carrier (for his own protection) and took him to the Wildlife Refuge today. :smug: We released him near some other bunnies like him so I hope he survives and thrives.

Gotta go eat dinner. See you all later.

I'm here, just been lurking around.:o . I have not been on my best behavior, actually, I have not really been on any behavior. I have got to find my inthusiasm again!!!

Amanda: What a great heart you have saving that little bunny. I've never heard of a bunny screaming or a bunny getting drug in the house by a kitty....that was a first for me. I'm so happy the poor little thing is okay though and back with other bunnies.

Tina: I know your away at the Race, hope you are having a grand time. Hope the weather is holding out.

I hope everyone is having a great time for the long weekend. Okay some may not have a long weekend, but for the holiday weekend.

05-23-2003, 11:40 PM
Hey guys.....

Just hopping in here real quick with a good night. It's around 10:35pm and we've got the alarm set for 4:00am, so that doesn't give me a lot of time and I've got a ton to do before I go to bed. We're leaving at 5am and should be home sometime late Monday evening. I will report in as soon as I get back and I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

P.S. If you're watching the race, and they have to stop it because a crazy lady in orange is climbing the fence as Tony drives by......

it's not me. Well, ok....it is.

See you soon!

P.S. Sandy: When I get back, I expect to see ALOT more of you. :drill:

Hi all...

Quick post before bed...the wake was today and the funeral is tomorrow. So sad.

Food is okay...not great. Weight is the same, I'll take that...next week will be better.

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day Weekend. Have fun, whatever you have planned.

05-24-2003, 02:04 AM
I just wanted to post since I have not posted in the new thread. I am sort of sad. I dont guess that I am going to get to meet Tina :( I dont know if she forgot we were supposed to meet or what but now she is gone. I have asked her about our meeting in my last couple of posts but I guess she missed them. I was supposed to go out with my sister this weekend. She lives in Lincolnton NC and wanted hubby and me to go out with her and hubby and celebrate their anniversary. I told her I had plans and could not go. I hope that she will still have me :o

Tina- What happened girl? I would have loved to meet you. Maybe next time :)

Well I am gonna go. I hope that all of you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

Another quickie....

had a really late night watching movies with Marc last night. A few too many champas, so I've got quite a bit of walking to do this week to make up for it!!! :nono:

Did some more gardening today - VEeeerrrry quick, as it started to rain, but got the rest of my pansies in. So pretty! One of my favourite flowers.

Food's been really good. I'm really getting hooked on making smart choices, and then giving myself a mental pat on the back. I like the feeling of control. Of finally recognising that I have to be clever about what I eat and when, so that I can still enjoy treats, but in a controlled environment. I HAVE to know and understand how to do this to the point of it being automatic, because it is a LIFELONG habit!!!!

See ya!

See all of you at Chat tonight

Moving us to the top

05-24-2003, 10:16 PM
Hey ladies! Looks like I missed chat this week. Only 4 more days until I get weighed and measured. I bought a new car last night. It's a dark green 2000 Pontiac Grand Am. It also has a sun roof and was low in miles. It is so pretty. It was kind of hard getting rid of my old car considering it was the only car I ever owned. I bought it in 1995 when I got my license. However, it had 140,000 miles on it and I was ready for a change. I figured I'm working on a new body so I might as well get a new car. Needless to say, I'm very happy with my choice. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

05-24-2003, 11:48 PM
Sorry I missed chat. We had company pop in at 8:30pm, so I could not be rude. Anyway I did pop in when they left which is now at 10:49pm, and no one is here. But wanted to let you all know I was planning on getting there.

I did want to say to Amanda that I finally found your stuff on ebay and it was very nice. Good luck with it.

Night all, will check in tomorrow.

Hi Everyone!

It was a typical Saturday here: cleaning my house....and yes, the kitty box:lol:

Why do some cats have to "bless" the box after you clean it and kick cat litter all over the bathroom after one cleans that?

Let's see...food has been terrific, :cb: :cp: and I'll weigh myself again on Wednesday--maybe I'll measure myself too, since I haven't done it for a couple weeks.

My prints from the photographer came back yesterday; I had to shuffle through 36 prints to find suitable ones for my modeling "book" (aka portfolio), and also updated my website to give it a more professional look:D

Wow Steph, guess a lot of us are getting something new...you a new car, me a new look, and Tina new kittens! :) Isn't it great to reward oneself with non-food items during our weight loss journey? :bravo:

Tina: Have a blast at the race, and I'll be looking for the crazy lady coming over the fence when Tony races by! NASCAR RULES!

05-25-2003, 03:25 AM
Hi guys !!!
I am back... but I don't know for how long ??? :?:
I went to Missouri Thursday and worked hard ALL NIGHT getting stuff ready for the big sale. No bed left to sleep on so I slept on their small sofa. :^: If you can call it sleeping. LOL

I hung HUGE signs on the garage door and the front door that the sale would not open before 8am.
Does that stop rude people ??? NO !!!!!!
They started ringing that door bell every 5 minutes for 30 minutes.
I mean I had the sign next to the doorbell.... and they still think they are the "exception"

Okay... that off my chest. LOL
The sale was unbelievable. I would have 30-40 people there and me trying to do it by myself. OH MY. LOL
I know a couple things were STOLEN.... ( I will never understand people) but that is their problem more than mine.
But after 3 non-stop days of hard work (sale 2 days)... we sold over $1,000 of junk. :yikes:
I could not belive it !!!! Family bought a ton of stuff before the sale.... and my parents gave us a ton of stuff too. We would not have even bothered with the sale because we didn't think we had enough to make it worth all the work... but I guess we did. LOL
I am sooo happy I was able to do that for my parents. :)
There is not much I can do for them anymore.
They are both so very depressed right now.
I hope making that money helped cheer them up some. :crossed:

I know I need to reply to everyone... but I think I will go to bed instead.
I don't know if DH and I are going any place Sun-Tues...he gets off until Wed.
If I am here... I will write... if I don't write... know I am thinking of all of you.

05-25-2003, 08:40 AM
This weekend has been a bit higgledy piggledy for me, but I've kept a reasonable control on my food. Today, I had an Undercoverwear Party, which is lingerie and clothes for women. I served low fat muffins and diet flavoured mineral water!! :D

I also went for my long walk and did my stretches. Yay!

I had an interesting thought on my walk. I was thinking that in my post tonight I'd be saying how positive I feel about this, and that hopefully this time it will last. And I thought AH! Saying "hopefully this time it will last" is almost inviting disaster. I SHOULD NOT be saying "hopefully" but DEFINITELY. This is a lifestyle. It is a change for life. There IS NO "hopefully" because this is not just a fad, but a way of being for the rest of my life. Although my conscious mind has accepted it, and talks about it being this way, obviously my subconscious mind is taking a bit to catch up!!!

I also realised that once I've lost another 4 kilos, I will have lost 10 kilos from the weight I was at when I got pregnant this time last year. :D

I got caught out today by tricky advertising  I bought some low fat chocolate muffins that claim to be 97% fat free. However, when you look at the kilojoules and total fat, one muffin is equal to 2 WW points!!!! For something that's supposed to be almost fat free, that's a lot of points!!! I'm spewing cos I had 3 thinking they'd be about 1 point each, and in doing so have gone over points today. I was trying so hard to do the right thing, and got caught out. Guess that will teach me a lesson, that I shouldn't ASSUME anything, but check the facts!!!!!

Hey, 2cute, it's nice to know that we're not the only people dealing with idiots who think they own the place. We had a garage sale about 1 year ago, and even put a time in the paper, and STILL they came early. One couple got narky with us because we wouldn't let them in! Amazing, huh! Glad to hear you had such good results, and certainly hope that cheers your parents up - I'm sure the fact that you went to such effort should do that anyway!!! You are an amazing person, and I think any family would be lucky to have you!!!

Lori, what are all the photos for? You mentioned a portfolio - what is it for? I missed your earlier explanation, so hope you don't mind repeating... :^:

Night guys!

05-25-2003, 10:28 AM
Morning all. Food has not been good, back later

05-25-2003, 04:30 PM
Good afternoon, peeps!

Well, another TOM has arrived, and it is once again a very painless one :cb: ! On top of that, I haven't retained any water nor has my skin broken out like it usually does! I think this is the body's way of thanking me for all that good food and activity.

To answer the portfolio question: I do some modeling on a part time basis, and since becoming blonde cuteness:lol:  , I had to have new pics taken. And speaking of modeling, Sally Hansen Nails is having a big promo at some Wal-Marts and Wal-Mart Supercenters on Friday the 30th from 4-8 pm-and there is a Super Wal-Mart about 20 minutes from me that is on the list I got earlier today; I applied as a promo model for that store. It pays $12 an hour. I should be hearing something before the end of the week whether I got the job or not for that area.

05-26-2003, 01:06 AM
Hi Ladies!!!
I'm Home  I'm sure I have a lot to catch up on, and I will do that tomorrow. For now I just stopped in for a quick Howdy!
We had a wonderful vacation, but I'll be happy to sleep in my own bed tonight. 8 nights of hotel mattresses haven't been kind to my back!
Talk to you tomorrow!
:) Barb

05-26-2003, 01:15 AM
hi guys... don't have a lot of time but wanted to check in really quick.

Tina... Your kittens are soooo sweet !!! And how exciting that they were born on Tony's b-day. :D
I hope you are having a great time at the races.

Deon... Thank you so much for posting your photo.
It is so nice to have a face to put with the names and posts.
You look so young. How old are you??

Amanda...That was such a good post you wrote !!

Thin... Isn't it the pits when you have a college education and still don't have a job. My youngest graduated in May too and although she is going on to Pharmacy school in the fall... her job she got for the summer does NOT match in pay considering she is a college graduate. It's enough to make you want to "spit".
PLUS.... good luck on your election race. I wish I was there to vote for you.

Michelle... Thanks for starting the new thread. You are an angel.

Sandy... be easy on her. LOL

Lynne... It is GREAT that you are walking... but please avoid those dark streets !!!!

Sara... I am so happy your surgery went well. But you should not get on this computer until the doctor gives his okay. We miss you... but we want your well being over your posting.

Steph... A new car !!!! WOW !!!! Congratulations !!! I am thinking about getting one too. I have to make up my mind soon... I need new tires BAD... especially with all the trips to Missouri I make. I don't want to spend the money on tires and then sell the car.

Mary... hope you had fun in chat. Now that American Idol is over.. maybe I will be able to get into Wed night sometime soon. I just find it hard to keep up in chat rooms. By the time I read and then type a reply.. everyone has gone to a different topic. LOL Plus I have so many typos to repair it is hard to keep up.

Lori.. good luck getting the job. :crossed:

Tracy... I am so sorry you missed meeting Tina... :(
But look at the bright side... now no one will have to be jealous anymore. LOL

Kat, .... Happy Memorial Day to you too. ;)

If I left anyone else out I apologize. The older I get the more forgetful I get.

Okay... I am headed for bed. I spent almost 4 hours on the golf course being a caddy for my DH, daughter and boyfriend. It was fun.... but all that fresh air has worn me out. LOL I can't quit yawning. Good night everyone.

Barb.. you snuck in on me. LOL I know what you mean about being back in your own bed. Ahhhhhhh

05-26-2003, 02:14 AM
Hidey Ho, everyone! Just got in from my second day as 'showgirl'. Long days. YIKES! Had to be there at 1:00 and just got home at midnight. Got to see Bruce Almighty. It was pretty funny. I liked Liar, Liar better though. We have the job again next Saturday and Sunday.

One more day and we leave for Niagara Falls. I can't wait. Three days away from everyone and everything with my sweet honey. Now that's what I call VACATION!!! And with working this weekend and next as a 'showgirl', we can afford another get away real soon. :D

Election stuff is heating up. :flame: I thrive on the chaos, my honey told me, so chaos it is!!! Two weeks from today is the election. I don't know that I really want the job, so I'm not going to ask you all to cross your fingers. :crossed:

Deon: I'm glad you reconsidered and are sticking with WW. Good for you on the loss. The picture is great. Thanks for sharing.

Amanda: Cute kitty. I'm glad you were able to save that bunny. One morning last summer I looked out on my front lawn and there was a bunny with an arrow through it's neck. Not enough to kill him, but enough to hurt him. He wouldn't let me catch him and as he was hopping through the fence he dislodged the arrow. I hope he was ok.

Michelle: Glad to see you back around more often.

Lynne: Sounds like you're on a roll! * Pansies are one of my favorites too. I bought some Icicle Pansies last fall. They are bred up in Canada, near Toronto, and they're made for the colder climates. You plant them in the fall and they are pretty, they go dormant for the Winter, and then they multiply in the Spring. Mine are just beautiful right now. I like pansies because of their cute little 'faces'.

Sara: Glad the surgery went well. I went to the eye doctor and he wants me to see a Retina specialist. Something about my eyeball he didn't like.

Sandy: Good to see you even if you're not behaving. Actually, that's when you should be in here most.

Tina: Hope you had a great time at the race.

Katrina: My thoughts and prayers are with you, honey. It's a difficult time for you. [[[hugs]]]

Tracy: Gosh, I'm sorry you and Tina didn't get to hook up. I'm sure it was just an oversite. There are lots of races in the Carolina area, maybe you can catch her next time. I don't think she's coming here to Michigan for the race on the 15th of June either. I would have liked to meet up with her.

Steph: I love Grand Am's and Grand Prix. Yours sounds beautiful!!!

Lori: My kitty doesn't do that so I can't help you out with an answer. :(

Mary: Sorry, no chat for me. I did check in when I got back from the theatre last night at midnight, but no one was there.

2cute: I'm so glad the sale went so well for you. That's one more thing you can count as done.

Barb: I'm so glad you're back so I can thank you for sending me that tape. That said, I haven't had a spare moment to sit down and watch it yet. :o But rest assured that I will...soon. Glad you had a great trip. And I hear you on the mattress thing. Me too.

I'm going to head to bed. We close on our re-finance tomorrow. Yes, I know it's a holiday, but I'm dealing with a bank branch in a grocery store and they're open from 10-2, so I made it for tomorrow and honey doen't have to waste a vacation day.

See you all later.

We are quite waterlogged in these here parts...I can't even remember the last sunny day we had...somewhere around Mother's Day, I think. On the bright side, everything is wonderfully green!
:D :s: :p :smoking:  :stress: :twirly:

I'm not even going to try to catch up...just starting fresh, here and now. It's Monday! New week! Even though it's a holiday.
Any good BBQs planned? My son was supposed to march in the parade with the Boy Scouts today... That ain't happenin'! We went to my brother's house for an impromptu barbecue yesterday...my two brothers and their families, sis and family, Mom and Dad and us...well, that's 18 people right there...it was fun, but I had to work...:( I'm exhausted...I'm surprised I'm still awake.

I'll try tp reply later...yawning too much now... :dz:

Thanks for the condolences...Love you girls!

:dz: :dz:

Happy Memorial Day chickies

We are going to a Memorial service then a picnic. Food has been real bad for a few days now.

SANDY it was nice chatting and seeing you last night almost like meeting. This webcam thing isn't bad as I thought.

Ok girls where are the rest of you.

Tina sorry Tony didn't win. I love the kittens.

Well I better run have work to do.

Oh yes Son is back at work his leg is much better.

05-26-2003, 09:51 AM
HI Kat you sneaked in on me

05-26-2003, 10:32 AM
Good Morning all,
I just watched the movie "2Weeks Notice" wonderful movie, I loved it. We also watched "Waking up in Reno" lastnight, that was so stupid it was funny.
Alexis and I are off to the Parade today. We had a family turkey fry yesterday so I don't know if we are doing anything today? I don't think so, but our family tends to do things on a whim sometimes, so one never knows.
Mary: It was really neat seeing each other on Webcam, and yes, it is almost like meeting, at least the next best thing. And I always forget that I have a mic too and I can actually talk versus typing...LOL.
Tina: I hate when the races get Rained out, especially such a big race like that. I wonder if Jimmy Johnson would have really won? I guess we will just never know, but there sure was a lot of race left and anything could have happend. Poor Tony, I wish him luck next week and hope all his problems are left behind him. Seems like the poor man can't cut a break this year, but his spirits are high still.
2cute: hope the bed felt good last night. And I was not sure what you ment about "don't be to hard on her?"
Barb: I'm sure your own bed felt good again too, glad you had a wonderful vacation.
Thin: Thanks for the encouragement, and I know I need to be here more to get my behind back on track. And it keeps my fingers busy.
Amanda: Hope all is going well there. How is the WW plan coming? Did you find more information?
Kat: The sun is supposed to shine long enough here for the parade, then they say rain again this afternoon. I will be glad when sunny days are here again.
Okay, sorry to leave others out, but I got to get my butt in the shower its now after 9:30 and I have to be at my friends house to load up the van full of kids for the parade at 11. Oh moms jobs are never done.

Talk to you all later,

05-26-2003, 10:38 AM
I note that you are celebrating Memorial Day - what is that for?

I had another good day today. Worked in the garden a bit more. Although we're renting, we're planning on being here for a few years, so want to landscape the garden so it is bearable. I've always wanted a water feature, so we're going to build up a waterfall and little pond / stream. We've managed to score some boulders and slate from a house being demolished across the road, and some broken concrete slabs for paving from my parents. So I've been outside tidying up, and then in the next few days we've got to weed the whole area, get the soil turned over, and then start digging! The idea is that we will plant herbs in and around the waterfall and pond. I've got a really good image in my head, so hopefully it will turn out ok. The great thing is that this will hardly cost us anything, apart from a few plants, as most of the materials we're getting free from people!!! :D

I also went for my big walk again. 4.8km in 45 minutes!!! :D

Food's been pretty good, but my gosh it adds up! It's soo good that I'm journalling, because at least I can keep an eye on what I'm eating. Therefore, if I don't lose weight, I can look back on the week and see where I've made mistakes and how I can avoid them again.

Lori, it's great that you're doing modelling - I've always wanted to get into it, but a few years ago I was told I could be a model if I lost weight - and I was a lot skinnier then!!! Over here, if you're over a size 14 you're considered too big. I'm hoping one day that that will change, and the industry will finally get a realistic view of the woman's body! I mean, the models are all size 8's, but the average Australian woman is a 16!!! idiots!!!

Thin, hope you enjoy your little holiday. Whenever I think of Niagara Falls, I think of Superman. hee hee

2cute, golfing is supposed to be really good exercise - 4 hours! No wonder you were tired!

I'm off to bed. Take it easy!

05-26-2003, 11:36 AM
Just came in for a sneak peek and thought I better clear up a couple of misconceptions. LOL

Lynne... I did NOT play golf ... I just drove the golf cart for 4 hours. :o
I should have said I was the chaffeaur instead of the caddy. LOL
I do not play... I am an observer who drives. LOL
Hopefully someday I will be able to start playing.

Sandy... I was refering to Michelle's comment after starting this thread.
She said she had to post before the 'Posting Police' got after her. LOL
She then asked "where are you Sandy" in the same sentence. LOL
She did post .. but not a lot.
I was just teasing to not be too hard on her for not posting very much. LOL
I was trying to be funny... but unsuccessfully. :o

Mary... enjoy your picnic. Make smart choices and enjoy the people more than the food. ;)

Kat :rain:... come on over to Oklahoma... our weather is just BEAUTIFUL here. :smug:

Thin... enjoy your vacation to Niagara Falls. I am jealous. :s:

Okay... I am out of here. Love you all. :grouphug:

05-26-2003, 02:10 PM
OH 2cute: I get it now....it's that blonde gene thing that had me all confussed....please bear with me on that...LOL:D You are still funny.

Lynne: Our Memorial Day is the day we remember and thank and give tribute to our veterans. Somehow it has also gone in to the day we remember everyone that has died, as we go off and place flowers and such at all of our relatives gravesides also. There are always parades that include veterans and firetrucks, girlscouts, boyscouts and bands and so on. Then people seem to have kind of a family/friend day and have picinics and stuff or luncheons. We did ours yesterday, and it was a good thing since today as soon as the parade was over it started to rain. Hope that answers your question.

Boy it sure is quiet on here today, so there must be good weather somewhere and people picinicing..

Hugs to all,

05-26-2003, 03:45 PM
Sandy... :?: I thought Veteran's Day was the day we honored our Veterans and Memorial Day is for all people who have passed.
Does anyone else know ??? Now I am curious. :?:

05-26-2003, 06:09 PM
2cute? I don't have a clue now? LOL.....I know we honor our Veterans on veterans day, but I thought originally that we honored them on Memorial day too? I could be totally wrong you know, I'm not an expert. And I wonder if there is a specific definition of the day? Anyway, I do know that it is a day to honor ones that have passed on.

Anyone else know? HUMMMMMM??????

05-26-2003, 06:12 PM
Okay, I went to the search bar and typed it in and here is what I got.

Memorial Day
Email this encyclopedia entry to a friend

U.S. holiday. Originally held in commemoration of soldiers killed in the Amer. Civil War (1868), its observance later extended to all U.S. war dead. Most states conform to the federal practice of observing it on the last Monday in May, but some retain the traditional day of celebration, May 30. National observance is marked by the placing of a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery.

I think that explains it.

Good afternoon ladies!

Wow, its been a while since I last posted. I've been working hard this weekend.

Saturday was spent with DH, MIL and BIL getting things done for her and doing the memorial day thing too. Somehow it took all day but it was a good day. I asked DH how many years had it been since he had a day with his mother like that - probably 28 years.

Sunday was cleaning house day. I was determined to get the house whipped into shape since I felt like I had been so focused on everyone else the last month or so that I needed that mentally. The house looks so much better.

Today was outside day. I planted two planters of vincas, two hostas, one peoni bush and worked on finishing my landscape area. I don't have it finished because the old bod is just plain tired.

Food has not been great. I did go to WW on Saturday and was up 2 lbs but I know its water. Seems like my body is very sensitive to PMS and humidity and likes to hang on to water no matter how much I drink. Maybe I need more water. I haven't gone on a binge because of WI but I have gotten lax. It kind of makes you weary when you work really hard and then the body does its own thing. But the fridge is stocked with lots of fruits and veggies to get back on focus.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Hi Chicks!!!
I wish I could catch up with everyone, but that may take me all night and this tired body needs to get to bed. Just a quick update on vacation...
We had a great time. Spent the first couple days gambling in Biloxi with my family. Jeff had some pretty good streaks at the BlackJack tables and we managed to win enough to pay for the vacation. Not a bad deal to come home and put money back in the bank. We spent the rest of the week on the beach. It rained most days, but we didn't let that dampen our spirits. A few trip highlights: we met my best friend from high school and her new hubby for dinner one night, I treated myself to a full-body massage (that was a first and I loved it), the seatbelts fit on all the airplanes, my nephew graduated from high school, my mom was so proud of my weight loss. All in all it was a GREAT week!!!

I managed to work out nearly every day we were away - either taking a walk or working out in the little gym at the hotel. We also played some golf and swam. I tried to be careful with my food - but we had some pretty big meals and I did drink a bit. I jumped on the scale this morning to see a 3.6 pound gain. I am giving myself until Friday, my usual weigh-in day, before I officially consider the gain. I am not too terribly disappointed considering the good time that we had. I am back on track tomorrow morning.

Today was spent doing laundry and relaxing a bit. I pick the dogs up from the kennel tomorrow afternoon - we couldn't get them today because of the holiday. I can't wait to see them. I hope my puppy remembers me! :)

Kat -- can you give me more details about the dressing you make with seseme oil, rice vinegar, splenda & soy sauce? I am always in search of good dressing idea. If anyone else has any, please share.

Sara --- I am so happy to hear that the surgery went well. This past week made me even more thankful that I had it --- no worrying about contacts as I was jumping into the water. :D

I wish I had more time to reply, but I'll catch up from here --- I did go back and read every single message, which took me a while.

Talk to you all tomorrow. Glad to be back with my favorite gals!
