Default newbie question >_<

So, today is my first day on 3fc and *when I'm dieting* I count all my calories the only thing is, I'm used to Crash dieting, eating 600-900 everyday which works great until you realize you live on planet earth and can't possibly maintain that. Anyways, I looked up all different BMR/Metabolism calculators and being 5'5" 22years old with little to no exercise (gonna change once its not miserable outside) it said my BMR was around 1475 but need to eat 1775, so to finally get to my question, how much of a deficit do you need to lose, even if its just a pound or two a week? I really don't want to be caught in that same cycle again can you blame me lol and also, what should that deficit be out of, Bmr or calories needed? I'm so lost at trying to do this the right way!

In order to lose 1 lb/week, aim for a deficit of 500 cal/day from your calories needed.

1475 calories a day sounds right for your height and weight. Everyone's body is different, but you should lose about 1.5 pounds a week at that rate.

I think what the others wrote sounds right.

Remember though that everyone's different so be patient with yourself for a couple of weeks and see what happens with a certain amount of calories. Record absolutely everything and you should find out your own balance then.
By balance I mean what you can eat without being hungry and still lose weight. Some people go hard core like you did but like you said that usually isn't sustainable.

Im new too and was looking to see how many calories i need to lose weight. it says i can eat 1600 to loose a pound/week. I never ate as low as you but im so used to eating 1000-1200 and 1600 sounds like soooo much. HOWEVER. im trying to break the cycle of starving on 1000-1200. like you said, we live on planet earth and thats not maintainable lol, and i always ended up bingeing on everything. SO im with ya! Lets try and do this the right way this time
