Thanks for reply JenRem. I do weigh first thing in morning, naked. (About 4 or 4:30). My weigh in was 10:45. I drink about 4 cups of 1/2 caffeine coffee, plus by that time I also had at least 32 oz of water, plus my spinach and protein drink. In the first few days I had 1-2 egg whites plus 1-2 mini dill pickles. Finding I don't need them quite as much last couple of days. But do have a couple cooked up for emergencies. I did go to Sam's and get some of their EAS Advantage drinks and their Pure Protein bars ( as restricted items) to stretch my budget some.

I will post 2 days of menu ( I think the worst or most off).
I started on Tuesday the 19th
Saturday:
B: 1 1/2 c spinach and celery, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, choc drink
Snack: egg white and pickle
L: 2 c. Veggies, 1 T WF dressing, spaghetti mix
Dinner: Mac in a bowl (1/2 # lean beef), 1/2 cup veggies, lettuce, 2 T WF dressing
Snack: pure protein bar
(On Sunday morning review noticed that I had 2 restricted for Saturday! I had a slight gain of .2)
Sunday:
B: 1 1/2 cups spinach, vanilla drink
L: split up...1 bite of restricted bar after church and then 2 hour visit with Mom in Alzheimer's unit, finished bar on way home, then had 1 1/2 cups veggies with 2 T WF dressing
D: 5 oz chicken, 1/2 cup rutabaga, 1/2 tsp EVOO, lettuce with 1/2 cup veggies and WF dressing
S: IP banana pudding
I realized I did not have full amount of cooked protein-but would have barfed if I forced more. I had planned on finishing full chicken amount plus adding 1 egg, but....

I usually do 1-2 egg whites with a pickle after water aerobics, rest then do lunch. Coach told me water aerobics ok, but drop egg whites, and split my morning protein for before and after swim.

I also wanted to pick up my line dance lessons again (maybe adding in some extra protein after). I am generally pretty inactive except for those activities as I am retired.

Sorry this is so long....but some help here would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to add in that I drink an extra 2 cups of water to cover my coffee...for a total of 80-84 oz.

I'm first this morning, it MUST be early. Wednesday already and a short week. :carrot:

I have been thinking about my goal weight and may have to revise. In order to reach it I still have almost 20 pounds to lose, that would take me down 2 more sizes to size 5. I can't be that thin, I am not built that way. I am thinking instead of 150, I will raise that to 155 and that will still give me a buffer for phasing off. If I settle at 160, I will be happy. I am 5'5" with a med-large bone structure.

Well I was first when I started!! :)

I LOVE COFFEE! I also love about 4 tsp of sugar (at minimum, I actually just pour until I think it's enough so no true measurement) in my coffee as well as half a cow! Since joining IP in January I have only had it once and was not able to finish it due to not caring for artificial sweeteners and skim milk. :(
This morning I broke down and decided to try what so many of you have done. I added my morning vanilla shake (1/2 of it :D) to my coffee as well as a shot of SF o/o/o english toffee syrup. It is actually almost as good as my original before IP version!!!!! I will have the other half of my vanilla shake after I'm done with my coffee and that will be that!:carrot:
Thanks for the advice, encouragement and random posts. If you lurk long enough (or not so long even) you can find out so much!
I love it here!!!!

Jeaner you didn't list the oil. Don't forget to have the daily allotment of oil. Don't count the small amount you are cooking with, just measure and count what you are putting directly on your food.

Exercise will not accelerate your losses, it typically will slow it down. Actually, you aren't supposed to exercise for the first 3 weeks at all. You might want to try skipping the water aerobics for 1-2 weeks to see how your losses go. Your body needs some time to get used to this very low calorie diet.

Donna Gel goal weights are definitely an individual thing, and they aren't set in stone. I've changed my goal several times, but ultimately it comes down to if I like how I look. My goal is based on a 23% body fat, but it may change again because I have no idea if I'll be happy with that.

Huh...I posted yesterday about not losing pounds but my belt is getting to be too big. Well I stepped on the scale again this morning and I am down 2 lbs from yesterday which puts me at 1.2 lbs down from last WI. My official WI is tomorrow morning but I'm pretty surprised that I will have a loss this week...given the wine I drank over the weekend. :dizzy:

Good morning all!

Did my WI this morning and am down 3.2 pounds which I am thrilled with - particularly given it is my TOM and it was a rough week emotionally wise. Getting closer and closer to my goal weight :-)

Well, here's hoping the scale holds and that you got away with it! ;)

WI today, down 2 more! Yippeee! That's 21.5 for me so far. I had really begun to wonder whether my body was actually capable of losing weight -- I am so thrilled and relieved to see that it can!! I began this plan at the start of lent, so, as of today, that is 21.5 lbs gone in 42 days. I am thrilled.

Congrats Psycht on the 3.2 loss! Way to go!

Jeaner -- I can't imagine how frustrating and confusing it must have been to actually see a gain after week 1. I am sure others here with more experience will give you great technical advice. I just want to cheer you on to stay with it, make adjustments where needed, and get to next week where you will most definitely see good results. Hang in there!

My son is out of school for spring break in 1 hour. It will be a good exercise in self-control and sacrifice for me this week -- Easter + 12 y/o boy = food, food, food. We already made white chocolate Easter lambs this week . . . good thing I don't like white chocolate! That said, I will make sure my family has an enjoyable, traditional Easter and I will be making the substitutions necessary to continue on this weight loss journey. I'm not even discussing it with myself (after this, lol).

Have a good day, all!

Ragdoll...you caught me just as I was going out that door for water aerobics...so I changed gears and will not do water aerobics for a couple of weeks. I will also not line dance for a couple of weeks.

I did forget to mention the oil when listing my menu for those two days. That is something that I do forget to pay attention to for the most part. I wanted to remember to add at least 1 tsp to my morning smoothie with the spinach, but since I was also told I should not split up my veggies I think I will switch from WF dressings to EVOO and vinegar or lemon on my veggies. So, I have been inconsistent with the oil. Too bad about the 'no spinach' morning smoothie....I really did like that.

Congrats Sylvie's girl. Wow you are losing at a great rate! It must feel good. And to Jeaner I agree with Sylvie's girl. It must be so frustrating for you. I am really hoping your 2nd weigh in will give you the results you are looking for. Good for you and your determination to see it work. It will! Eventually!

I am happy to report my stomach seems to have settled. Still not sure what it was.... Could have been a bug, allergies, or the diegestive enzymes I am taking are working. Hard to know for sure. I do know that next time I phase off, I will be watching for allergies. One question I am going to put out there, my digestive enzymes say do not take for more than two weeks. Anyone know why? Lisa? Thanks and everyone have a great day!

Thanks for all the tips everyone. Every little thing that someone with experience can see from my short menu, or other thoughts can help me tweek this so I can be a fat burning machine! That is a good NSV. I can't really see anything wrong with your menu. Just the one day with no extra oil it looked like. I really don't think two egg whites and one pickle are making you not lose. Maybe you are needing an entire 4th packet on those excercise days? It might be worth holding off on the excercise just to test it out. Are you packing the spinach in? Just checking as at first I thought you were light on the veggies, but noticed 1 & 1/2 cup into the smoothies and thought...maybe if you are not getting enough spinach in there that you could be shorting yourself veggies....that could be a strech though. Good luck this week. Can't wait to hear how it goes for you.

As if we need confirmation, but IP really works!

I went to my gynecologist this morning...he was sooo happy about my weight loss (he had no idea I was doing anything). My blood pressure was 108/72 and I will be going for a complete blood count tomorrow...will let you all know the results!

Here's the funny thing...he asked me if I had weight loss surgery! He said "Wow, most people don't get these kind of results without it."

That's because he's never heard of IP :D

gottawork -

I hope you are out there or get this post........ I was traveling on Sunday, March 24 and so I didn't check-in here.

If you are going to do the IP products (vs. alternatives), they are a little cheaper than the clinics, but still pricey. Here is how I worked the discount....

Note: Scorbett says that the amount you have to spend is now $165 (it used to be $75).

www.plainprotein.com? They use priority mail so you'll receive your order pretty quick from them. I have been able to use the month typed into the promo code box (doesn't seem to be case sensitive) to get a 10% discount. However, I don't know how much you have to spend to get it! Some people have said that the amount you have to spend can vary from month to month. If you can afford to spend a little.... When I want to place an order, I usually put in any item and choose a large quantity, say like 6 of them. If the discount shows up, then I will back off the quantity to 5 of them. And so on and so on, until I determine how much I HAVE to spend to get the discount. Then, I erase the order and start over with what I really want to buy and make decisions based on what I want and how much I have to spend. Hope this helps. Jen

Also, you don't have enough information on your personal profile for me to IM you. If you change this, feel free to IM me directly and I can get you the answer directly.
EVERYONE on here is great and can answer questions for you anytime.

Good Luck - please, keep posting and let us know how you are doing!!!

One question I am going to put out there, my digestive enzymes say do not take for more than two weeks. Anyone know why? Lisa?

My guess is that the Company that makes them is legally trying to cover their rear end! Let's pretend that you had some really awful terrible stomach problem.... Like most of us you were trying to self diagnose (kind of like we all did by trying to help you figure out the cause lol). If you then decided to take these digestive enzymes and they helped, you might then mistakenly "ignore" the true cause of your stomach problem. By the Company telling you to only use for 2 weeks, then it's their disclaimer in case you use longer than 2 weeks. Whereas, if you stopped after the 2 weeks and the digestive enzymes were no longer "masking" the true stomach issues - you're symptoms would return and hopefully, you'd seek medical attention.

Weigh In Wed-Down 1.4! I'll take it! A loss is a loss! :carrot:

Congrats on your WI and losses! Most people chose to follow the P1 protocol and not make deviations. However, it's a personal choice. If you LOVE avocado, you could try switching it with the oil for a week and see if you notice any changes in the scale. :)

Jeaner -

Others have looked over your 2 days of foods and gave opinions. Nothing new to add there!
Just going to point out some other possible factors for your first disappointing WI results (and I know some of these might be like, "Duh!"):

1. Did you have an initial starting weight WI at the clinic and did your clothes seem to be comparable to what you wore on the 1st week WI?
Are you comparing these two numbers and not your home scale result?
2. Your age (of course the younger we are, the better we lose)
3. You are starting from a lower place (about 40 lbs) than most people on IP want/plan to lose. I still think you should have gotten a better 1st week WI!
4. Did you have a pretty healthy way of eating right before you started IP? I think people are going to have better results the 1st WI if their previous diet is way different (ie worse) than the IP restricted one! Plus if you ate well before IP and drank lots of water then you won't have as big of a 1st WI - since we know a good portion of WL the 1st week is water weight (from water retention, inflammation).
5. Of course the exercise as others have brought up.
6. A fluke! Who knows what could be going on hormonally, biologically, water retention, etc.

The potential problem in changing a bunch of different things all at once to see if they will help you to have a better WI result next week, is that when you DO have a better WI result it will be very difficult (if not impossible) to determine what it was that prevented the 1st WI from being better. Does this make sense??? So, you might change only the things that are really easy or that you don't mind changing for the long haul and then one other thing to "test" before the next WI (such as the exercise).

I think you did originally say that you lost some inches?!? You might ask your coach to measure you every week so you can see the changes there! In the meantime try to pay attention to whether any of your clothes are fitting better and if you are just feeling better personally. There are other ways to determine IP is working besides the scale - most of just prefer/rely this method, lol!

Good Luck. I'm very impressed with your personal resolve. I really hope the next WI is more satisfactory. :) Jen

Well weigh in today, down 2 lbs!! SOOOO close to ONEDERLAND I can TASTE it!

Also had blood work done yesterday for the first time since I started. They called today and I will get my results tomorrow but my thyroid is elevated so they are retesting next week just to make sure then we will talk and see what we are going to do.

What is funny is I have gone through YEARS of hot flashes (for 8+ years and I am 37!!) Insomia, weight gain even when doing WW, anxiety etc etc.... and it ALWAYS tested normal. NOW when I feel the most normal it tests high!

lol I don't get it.

*Edit to say, they think my surgeries I have been through is what caused the hot flashes, issues with TOM and other things as I have been tested for so much and it's never anything they can find with a test.

When mine was high in Dec, I did some reading. Ketogenic diets can be hard on thryroid. Plus so can soy and there is LOTS of soy in IP. I chose to stay on the diet, do some meds (hopefully temporarily), and cut out soy. It DID make doing the diet a bit more of a struggle and my losses slowed a tad but I'm still good.

One question I am going to put out there, my digestive enzymes say do not take for more than two weeks. Anyone know why? Lisa?
I'm taking Wholezyme Ultra from Whole Foods. Nothing on the label indicates this.

A bunch of the coaches at my clinic talk about how awesome stevia is, and I'm just sitting here like "Your tastebuds are broken."
I've read that there are certain people who have taste receptors who cannot "do" stevia. I can do it sometimes but I notice with IP, I really crave BIG flavor. The sweet leaf drops just don't give me that, if that's what I'm after.

Weigh in today and down another 2 lbs for a total of 34. I forgot to say in my post yesterday that I went to my regular doctor for a blood pressure check and it has gone down enough to go off the meds. YAY!!

Anyone else on the "stevia tastes bleck" boat? I can't get on board with stevia.

The one and only time I tried Stevia I had to run out of the house and quickly and repeatedly lick the hind end of a skunk to get the taste out of my mouth. I am not a fan of Stevia.:tied:

Stevia is okay...but it def has an "off" flavor. What really kills me is Splenda in baked goods. BLECH!!! Awful.

I am also glad to see this discussion. I have been using it for years but, I really don't enjoy that much. The sweetness seems bitter to me. But I still use it, I think it is better for me than Splenda.

I was wondering about that too.... I guess we will see. My Primary Care is different thant he one I go to for IP (different offices) so I am not sure if my Primary will have to read up on the diet. I guess we will see!

But I wondered if it would be cutting back or out soy.

Hi, All!
I just hit 41 pounds lost since january 15th!!!! I'm so excited. I've gone down 2 full sizes on my lower body and almost 3 full sizes on my top!!! And I feel physically awesome, energy and not OLD. This is the most weight I've ever lost at one time. I have 40 more to go, but this has been so easy and so pleasant that I see no problem staying on it until I hit ideal size. I just want to say thank you to you all. I don't post very often, but I check in and read you all every day. I love this group, and want to let you know that you help me constantly and continue to be a true source of inspiration, cool ideas, sometimes comfort, and always new info. I love reading your successes, and even the "un-successes" because I always learn from them. HIGH FIVE to you all !

I started using the Nu Stevia. For me, no after taste and it's not bitter like the other. Whole Foods carries it , as well as Sprouts. It's liquid. I carry in my purse.
