I have been looking around for a challenge that will go all the way through spring into summer to keep accountable, and possibly help keep me motivated. So, I figured why not just start my own. Anyone can join the weekly weigh in chart is below. The challenge will start on the first day of Spring March 20th and run thru the first day of Summer June 21st. You can weigh any day of the week you like. The last week has a few extra days so we can end this challenge on June 21st.

I've never done a longer-term challenge with a weekly weigh-in before, so I think I will start with this one! A three month mini-goal seems like a good place to start for building up to long-haul accountability. Also, I think Spring and Summer are both great times of the year for healthier living, so this challenge has perfect timing. :yes: (Just added a little ticker to my signature to keep track of this challenge.)

Ok got my Spring into Summer ticker - now it's time to see some pounds come off.

I did the fit test for the Insanity work out last night. I couldn't do everything and didn't push too hard because I don't want to injure myself. I liked it and hopefully can do Day 1 (to the best of my ability) tonight.

Even being on-plan yesterday, except for a late-night workout, I shot up 1.2 lbs to 264.6 this morning...ugh. :halfempty Not a great way to start my first weekly weigh-in, but I'm just going to keep telling myself that that just means my loss will be that much more impressive next week, lol. Positive thinking! :crossed:

rodeogirl- I think if I did for insanity I would pass out! Way to go.
opheliaphoenix- I understand completely, but personally i'm a daily weigher so I watch the numbers rise and fall, it can be really dissapointing. Just remember; YOU CAN DO IT!
As for me I officially hit the two teens today! Hopefully it will show on next weeks wi.

Brandi - I did the fit test as best I could but on day1 it was just a bit too hard on the knees so I am shelving it until I get some of the weight off and can try it again.

I am motivated to find something that will work or start walking again. It's been cold/rainy here all winter (the usual) but soon it will be good walking weather.

1lb a week is pretty good imo. It's a little easier for us who are not yet in Onederland to do more than 1lb - but 1lb a week is good!

Insanity is too hard on my knees currently - so I'm going to stick with low impact walking until I drop some more weight and then come back to them. They will definitely get you in shape if you follow them. :)

Hi Rodeo Girl. :wave: I did the Insanity fit test also then attempted day 1 and 2 and it is definitely hard on the knees. I decided that I didn't want to risk injury. I am going to wait until I'm smaller as well (and in better shape). I'm glad someone else had a similar experience. I felt like such a quitter.

I bet!!! I heard it is hella HARD and I agree that it's not quitting. I couldn't even do 30 Day Shred at my highest especially with the jumping jacks, oh my knees! Those were killer so I can't imagine even attempting Insanity. I'm glad you two decided to hold off for now, not worth the injury (or injuries!)

@ Rodeo girl - "Losers" not quitters... I love that :)
I decided that when I hit 220 I am going to attempt Insanity again. I am determined to at least start Insanity before this year is out.

@ amandie - yes jumping jacks and any other high impact exercise is out right now. My mind says yes but my knees say nooooo. :stress: I am a bit disappointed but I would rather wait than be injured and unable to do any exercise at all.

My weigh-in for the week is 261.0 even. I started JM's 30 Day Shred a couple days ago, and I'm getting nervous about a foretold stall in my weight loss due to water retention and muscle building...so, the next couple weigh-ins might not be stellar, but I will be keeping a close eye on my measurements for "inches lost", as well! Has anyone else tried a program like this and see their weight loss stop for awhile or even show gains? If so, about how long did it stall?

@Ophelia - my $.02 is don't let weight loss become the "be all end all" you know that exercise is healthy so don't worry about the stall. Just keep getting healthier, even if you don't lose weight for a month, who cares? If you're getting healthier overall that's the real ticket! The weight will come off.

I am trying to remember if I ever stalled with JM's 30 Day Shred alone. I was doing that along with 30 min to 1 hour on the elliptical trainer, I didn't stall much. But I am with Rodeogirl- even if you don't see much on the scale, your body will!!! I need to get back to doing that ASAP, it really helps with your body. If you haven't been working out regularly, you MAY see a gain on the scale but that is usually water because the muscle (fibers?) break up to be repaired or something like that, lol so just give it a week or two, just stick with it and it will come off! :)

I'm down only by a pound this week. Which is negligible given that it can be due to water weight or general fluctuations. -_-

I'll just have to make more of an effort. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to fit in exercise?

I work as an Auxiliary Nurse at a Geriatric Care Center. 8 hours a day 5 days a week. When I get home I'm terribly exhausted so I find it difficult to work out.

I walk to and from work a few times a week, whenever I can't find someone to give me a lift. I don't know how far away from work I am in terms of distance; I do know that it takes me about an hour to get home at a steady pace.

Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. :)

Astoria- Honestly, your walking already sounds like a great thing right now for few times a week! You can use google maps to enter your address, click on directions then enter the address of your work to calculate the distance. As for more exercise, there are many free videos online that go for up to 30 minutes so you can look and see what you would like to try. HTH!

I calculated the distance and it comes out to 1.819 miles one way. So it's a little over 3 miles whenever I do walk to and from work. That's always good. :D

I've already found a few workouts I like. I'll be giving them a try.

I've been stalled a few days, but seeing here that I actually lost 4.5 this week really made me realize my body is just trying to catch up! :dizzy:

My own weigh-in for the week is 259.2. Which is only a 1.8lb loss, so...not stellar, but I guess it actually isn't that bad considering I binged a little on Easter this week and had a gain to contend with along with the muscle building from the 30DS. I expect next week's weigh-in to be much better without a holiday thrown in this coming week, haha.

:carrot: NSV- fit in my sz 14 mini-goal skinny jeans!! I am also out of the obese and into the overweight category now, it's been nearly 10 years! So happy because that's all I've ever thought about since I was 230 and now I'm here?! Onwards to "normal"/healthy weight range! :carrot:

I am still 166 today, same as last week. I know I did not eat or drink enough to maintain so I have a feeling this may be some sort of water weight, at least I hope! LOL.

I posted in another thread/support group that I frequent to and decided I will share this here too since I really need the accountability! I am doing fine on the food part, I just want to start working out again because I knew I felt GOOD. When I first started, I would not miss a workout for any reason, even tell my friends/family that I cannot meet up with them unless I do my workout first, etcetc. I stopped working out regularly over a year ago due to an injury and have been using that excuse ever since so it's time to start up again! Tonight, I did 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer. Yay! :carrot:

So here is my plan for this week- Sun/Mon/Tues- elliptical trainer, Wed/Friday- lifting and have Thurs/Sat off. If any of you happen to be around, please ask me if I worked out that day. (edited workout days according to my schedule.)

I am still plugging away, working out and enjoying the weather (well, now it's cold, haha!!) I have worked out Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday with the elliptical trainers and Wednesday was lifting- man, that was horrible, LOL. I am still sore from the squats and I honestly don't think I had proper form for some of them. I think I may do the 30 Day Shred for a long while in place of lifting/strength training, this way I'll be more "prepared" when I go back to lifting.

Ok, so I think I may have figured out why I have not been losing for a while now. I am on Weight Watchers (on my own with a free phone app, no meetings, e-tools nor online, etc) and apparently I was eating 2 points over my daily points allowance along with most of my weeklies. Oops!!! The phone and I forgot that your DPA changes as you lose and for some reason, the app did not reflect that going from 180 to 166! Grr. At least I figured it out NOW and can move forward because I was going a little crazy, wondering why I wasn't losing when I thought I was doing everything right. I should see some losses happening in the next week or two now that I'm working out consistently.

I had a few stalls days this week, so my weigh-in is at 253.0 this time, which is a loss of 2.8 lbs.

Still maintaining 166 so far. I am more proud of myself for being consistent with the workouts and on the eating/drinking part too (well, mostly! thank goodness for weekly points, lol.) I have decided to hold off on the lifting for now because I play in 2 dart leagues currently (less than a month to finish for both) and could barely throw! My game was totally off, lol.

Rodeogirl: I'm gearing up for summer hiking too. Doing some long walks the past few weeks, and found a gravel road trail in the forest to practice on. Not quite a mountainous trail, but it has a small hill at the end.

Had a gain to deal with from a festival this weekend, but came back down a little. Weigh-in for the week is 251.0, so that is just barely 2 lbs down. Little bummed that I seem to be slowing down, so I'll be hitting the gym again this week, I think. But, at least it's a loss! Trying to keep that in mind. Slow and steady wins the race, right? Ha.

Weigh-in this week is 248.0, so 3 lbs down exactly. Much happier with my loss this week overall. I'd gotten a nice whoosh in the first day or two, but have been pretty much stalling out ever since, so I think my body is just playing catch-up. But, it's all about balance too, I guess! Lol. Also, on a side note, this pushed me over my halfway mark to my total goal for the challenge, so I'm pretty happy about that, as well. :yes:

Heidi, Ophelia and Thnknthin1- you guys are doing awesome!!! Way to go, y'all!

I finally saw 165.4! So happy! I took a break from working out for about a week now. I did not continue with the lifting (to answer your question, Ophelia :)), it totally wiped me out. I had an old routine on paper along with the dumbbells but somehow they got lost in the move and I did not save it on the computer, grr!! So I compiled a new beginners' routine and it was way too much for me, lol. I was/am still in dart league and didn't want to be too sore to play (2 more games then I'm done!) At least that was/is my excuse for not keeping up with lifting, lol.

However, I will be restarting the 30 Day Shred (after a year) for sure tonight with 3lbers to start with and keeping up with the 30-60 min on the elliptical trainer. Wish me luck with 30DS, ahh.

I was feeling a little sick this morning, so my numbers for today might not be completely accurate, since it is 1.4 lbs less than yesterday, but I'll be logging it for the week anyhow. That being said, my weigh-in was 243.2...hoping that my body will be nice to me and let me keep this loss. Overall, it would make for a 4.8 loss for the week! However, even without the ickies from this morning, I would still be around 4 lbs down, so I'm still happy about my progress for the week either way.

thnkthin1: Nice loss! Also, is that a new avatar or am I just really unobservant? Haha. Either way, you're looking great! Definitely an inspiration, since we have similar starting weights. :yes:

amandie: Totally understandable...there'd be no point in doing one thing, if it took away your ability to do all the other things you want to do! Also, congrats on seeing 165! That's awesome. Oh, and best of luck on the 30DS, too...I did level 1 and a couple days of level 2, but everyone I was doing it with quit, so I ended up stopping it for now, too -- I'll go back to it when I'm under 200 lbs, I think. I bet you will tear right through it, though! Have fun. :)

Thnknthin1- 1lb away from the challenge goal (although you are practically there now!) How freaking awesome!! So happy for you!

I have not been doing great at all, totally off-plan since last Friday, or was it Thursday? Stopped working out too. I have been and am very stressed and anxious currently. About 6 weeks ago, I had an ultrasound that revealed a small cyst on my ovary and the doc initially said it usually passes but to be sure, she wanted more ultrasounds at approx. 6 weeks. Tomorrow morning, I get the post 6 week check up results. Hopefully :crossed: after all that, I will be back on track like usual :crossed: though today I did well, I stayed within my points! :)

Ugh, this was my worst week for weight loss since restarting this journey in general, much less since starting this challenge. I went out of town for the weekend, and while I made the best choices for what was available to me, I still gained then maintained for a few days, so my weigh-in for the week ended up being 235.4 -- which means I didn't even lose a whole pound all week, overall. I know any loss is better than a gain, though, so I'm just going to stay positive, move on and try to do better this week!

Okay, I know I'm posting the day after my official weigh-in day, but I seemed to have flushed out a little bit of my gain today...putting me down to 234.8, which is worth mentioning because that means I hit my challenge goal! Woo! Definitely a silver lining to my slow week. :yes:

Another slow week. I'd lost a couple pounds, but gained most of it back somehow over the past couple days during an experiment to up my calories by 200 per day. Didn't work! Lesson learned, ha. Back up to where I was last Thursday at 234.8 today. Which makes for just 0.6 lbs down this week. Then again, I've also been low on water this week, so I'll focus on that for this next week, as well. Hope everyone's doing okay!

amandie: Thanks! And, good job to you, too! You might not make exactly as much progress as you hoped for in the beginning, but the fact that you're still here and maintaining is a sign of nothing but good things! You've already grown so much stronger than you used to be if you'd have flaked by now. So, in my book, that is a success all its own. Hopefully, you will join another challenge with us when this one is through! :yes:

Alright, well my weight finally broke a little with a visit from the whoosh fairy right here at the end of this challenge. Thank goodness...lol. I forgot to post here yesterday, so I will wrap it up with today's weigh-in of 229.4, which puts me at 5.4 lbs lost since the 12th and about 35.8 lbs down overall! Thank you so much for this challenge...it really helped keep my head in the game and in the proper perspective when I was struggling so often with my daily weigh-ins lately. Are there any plans for a new one? A Summer to Autumn one, perhaps?
