I am only am day 2 of IP and while I think the program is going to work wonders for me, I am feeling very fatigued. I am normally full of energy after work, but today I just want to goto sleep. How long does this usually last? Any suggestions? Tea? Vitamin B12?

I felt the same way (yesterday:)..... I feel better today. It's your body going through carb/sugar withdrawl. Granted I'm not 100% nor having the extra energy I've heard about. I'm waiting until the second week until I get concerned.

Unfortunately, this is a side effect in the 1st week. It is your body w/d from carbs. It does go away and the energy will come. I always thought that getting to ketosis that 1st week was enough of a deterrant for me not to cheat and go through that again!! Good Luck!! It's worth it!!!

It will pass I guarantee! It took me from day 2 to day 4 to get past it but then everything got better. Yes, your body is getting rid of stuff and getting sued to low carbs and sugars. Just drink plenty of water and make sure that you get everything in including the sea salt and olive oil and of course the vitamins

Day 2 for me also and I am so very hungry, can't focus well, and just tired. At 6:15 pm I have gone through all of my meals and my snack before bed. Not giving up yet, though.

I am also thinking my body must be withdrawing from all of the junky carbs and diet coke. Not only withdrawing but add in all of this water, change in food and vitamins..my body is probably in shock :dizzy:

We can do this!

About the sea salt. It says to use sea salt with lunch and dinner but it is listed under "Compulsory daily additions" 1/2 teaspoon. Does this mean 1/2 tsp at lunch and then another 1/2 teaspoon at dinner? Thank you in advance!

It means roughly 1/2 teaspoon a day total.

Thanks everyone! One more question. On my sheet it has snack listed after dinner, does that mean I have to snack after dinner, or can I have my snack anytime throughout the day?

You can actually break up the meals/packets however works best for you -the sheet is a guideline, something you can follow to make sure you don't miss anything. If it works better for your schedule to have your snack at another time, that's fine - just make sure you get everything on your sheet - 3 packets, 8oz protein, 4 cups veggies, water, oil, salt, supplements - every day.

great, thanks! i had to force myself to eat the snack after dinner last night because i thought it had to be in that order. being able to mix things up is definitely going to make things a lot easier! Congrats on reaching your goal btw!

Welcome, jackhammejb, funstaffordmom, and pinkeetoz!!! You are absolutely right! This will pass. Get all of your packets, food, and supplements in. Also drink all of your water. Then relax, go to bed early if you need to for the first few days. You WILL begin to feel great soon! We have all been there! This program works if you stick to it!

Yup...hang in there. I am in my 5th week and feeling great. I do need a good nights sleep though, see getting enough rest for me is helpful in feeling well and combating hunger (I tend to crave food when I am tired).

another newbie on day 2 here! :) I was exhausted last night and barely had the energy to stay up late enough with my youngest who doesnt go to bed until 10 pm! I woke up this morning with a headache.. which I am sure is from my caffeine withdrawals from diet coke (may have a tea later to help with that).. but already after my first shake this morning and some water i feel a little bit better!
we can do this!!!!

I am soooo hungry! Cardboard sounds good right about now. I have had my breakfast and lunch..actually, just got done with lunch about 30 minutes ago and I feel sick from hunger. Weak, tired, focus problems.

I am thinking I will have to have an extra protein pack, seriously. Will that mess my diet up?

I did lose 2-3 lbs already, though!!

Let's hang in there newbie team!!

In your first week, you can have an extra packet to deal with bad hunger - but have you tried drinking something first? Thirst often masks as hunger, if 20 minutes after you drink you're still hungry, then it's probably real hunger.

One of the BIGGEST lessons I learned in Phase 1 was the difference between REAL hunger and MENTAL hunger. Our brains conspire against our weight loss ambitions by making us THINK we are hungry when really there are other things going on (thirst, boredom).

One of Scorbett's pearl's of wisdom from several other threads "have a big bowl of lettuce. If you don't want that it's probably not real hunger." Not sure I got the quote exactly right but that's the jest of it. :)

Don't be surprised if day 3 or 4 aren't the worst (it was day 4 for me). Power through it and you'll be happy you did.

A couple of hours after lunch I used up my snack and I ate dinner about 5 hours later. So, I did make it without having to eat an extra protein packet. Took all of my vitamins and am trying to down my last 16 oz of water now. I sure hope tomorrow is a little easier.

How are you other newbies doing?

Another newbie here just finished day 4. My headache was much less today, but I certainly was moody! My husband is off of work tomorrow which would usually mean a glass if wine and snacks while watching a movie. I think knowing I would not be indulging in my favourite treats made me cranky. It is nuts the power food has over us! I certainly look forward to my meal times, and have found most of the IP food pretty good. I haven't stepped on the scale to see if the hard work is paying off. On previous diets when I have had a good loss it is almost a license to 'cheat' so I am sticking with weigh in day (Monday). I am in an isolated part if Northern Canada without an IP centre close by, so am actually doing this 'long distance' with my coach over the phone. She is great. Reading these posts have also really helped.

I have been doing this for 12 weeks now and I sometimes get what I call "angry hungry" I warned DH last night was one of those nights. Not sure what causes it, I eat about the same thing everyday but once in a while I feel like "if I don't eat NOW I am going to hurt someone". Once I eat, then I am back to my old cheery self! :D

Yesterday, day 4, was a good bit easier for me, thank God!

I am down 4 lbs this morning :D

Since beginning, I've had the chocolate shake (delicious) the vanilla shake (ok) apples and cinnamon (delicious) dill chips (delicious) vanilla pudding (good) broccoli and cheese soup (love love love0

I have about 6 more days of food left and I just placed an order to keep me going for a few more days on the IP food but will certainly be looking for alternatives that are not as expensive.

**I would love suggestions on alternatives foods, what tastes good and where to order. Thanks!!
