Default Eating enough calories?

I have noticed as I watch what I eat..I have problems getting enough calories in... I am eating around 1200 calories right now, but as I eat healthy.. I've only been taking in between 1000-1100 a day. This is with a greek yogurt/banana for breakfast and some kind of salad, veggie, meat for lunch and dinner.

Has anyone else had this problem while counting calories?

I definitely have issues with this. I eat a lot of veggies and salad (I'm vegetarian) and they fill me up faster so I finish all my meals around 1000 or so calories. Then I'm tempted to use the leftover calories for "treats". This of course is not an issue if I have an unhealthy meal like pizza for lunch/dinner

Honestly, I don't know the solution to this. I know some people say add in nuts, etc as snacks but I don't want to get in to the habit of eating when I'm not hungry...

I wish i had this problem

MFP, just lowered my calorie intake by 70 cals, and I instantly started looking for ways to burn 70 more calories a day.

I'm currently eating about 1500-1600 a day with a net of 1240 after exercise. My extra calories usually come from Olive Oil, cheese, organic peanut butter and my occasional treats.

If you're feeling full on 1100 calories, then I think it's okay to maybe save your extra calories for a once or twice a week treat. Or maybe treat yourself to a higher calorie salad dressing. Or add some cereal to your yogurt.

I think the most important thing is that you feel satisfied with your meal plan and don't feel like you're missing out anything taste or nutrient wise.

Good luck!

I have some days where I eat plenty and i only come in at 900 calories (mainly days when I am seafood and salad/veggie heavy) but still feel full and satisfied. Other days I come in at 1200 (more grains and dairy heavy).

I have trouble even coming close to 1000... When I eat healthier food I get filled up pretty easily. It's like I either come in way low or overshoot my goal completely... I can't win.

I don't have this problem. My average is 1400-1500 and my low of 2 years was 3 times at 1100....not happy in that range.

i have a hard time staying below 1500 but above 1200. some days i'll be ready for bed and i've only had 800 calories, other nights i'll realize i had a lot of cheese or chocolate that day, and my total is 1700. i can't do much about the 1700 once it's happened, but at least if i have 800 calories i can quickly make a thick peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a glass of silk before bed, and it bumps me up to around 1200-1300. i try not to go under 1200 because i am still around 190 pounds and i think that's too little to sustain my body, and i don't want it to go into starvation mode.
