Let's roar in like a lion for the March Exercise Challenge!

This is our monthly exercise challenge thread. Use it throughout 2013 to see a real difference in your fitness. All are welcome, whether your goal is to walk ten minutes a day or train for a marathon.

State your goal and track it throughout the month with a supportive group encouraging each other to meet our goals. We'll compile our exercise goals into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration.

For weight loss goals, see our sister thread: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chicks-up-challenge/276684-march-weight-loss-challenge.html

Welcome, immaculate! Do whatever works for you.

A new post daily helps you stay in the flow of the conversation, but we're not all that chatty (we're too busy working out!). I keep my log in a file on my computer and cut and paste from that to make it easier.

Editing the original post can be more straightforward especially if you aren't keeping the log on your computer. If you edit your original post, be sure to tell us at the end of the month that you met your goal because I don't always remember to go check the posts at the beginning of the thread.

I agree, gardenerjoy - a Wii workout is better than no workout, at all. When I did Wii workouts before, that hula hoop thing was tiring!

I hope it's not TOO late to join! I am new to this whole exercising thing and I am trying to start slow and not to expect TOO much out of myself. I used to walk my dogs daily, but that stopped once it got wet and freezing outside with the winter, but now that that warmer time is coming, I am going to concentrate on walking them every morning before work.

My goal for march is to walk them 5 days a week in the morning; and if the weather will not allow me to, I will then walk/jog on my treadmill.

Starting today:
03/13/13 - Walked the dogs this morning. 1.08miles

Okay, so unfortunately I was up in the middle of the night with a stomach issue, so I was very exhausted this morning, and actually overslept, and didn't get to walk the dogs, when my original plan was to wake up EARLIER, so I could take them for a longer walk.. ugh. :\ I feel like I let myself down.

03.14.13 - Nothing due to stomach issue last night. :(

Never too late, Savemykissesx! Good for you for logging the second day, even when you didn't manage the exercise. I suggest logging every day (or at least every week day). Whatever you manage this month, great! And the log will help you determine what goal to set next month.

Next week is a whole new week, and I will focus more on this. :\ I feel like I let everyone down.

3.14.13 - Unfortunately wasn't feeling well.

I agree, gardenerjoy - that was very well put. It's tough to get into the swing of things when you haven't been swinging anything for a long while. I know this from personal experience!

For my second week in March (I started late with this challenge), I have gotten off to a good start:

03/16 - 25m kettlebells/10m pilates

Hey RVAscreenwriter thanks for asking, but no big secret. It's my own little system to keep track of miles run. This month my goal is 35 running miles. The first number is where I'm at currently, the second is distance ran on specific day, and the third number is the remainder after subtracting the two. I have 8.14 miles to go before reaching my goal for March.

Hang in there, stilletolife! I love that you had a 5 minute day. It helps me to do something on a day that would otherwise be a 0. I seem more ready to get going the next day because I'm still thinking of myself as a person who exercises.

Tabbycat here.

I banged my toe into the foot of the bed earlier this week and it swelled up like a big purple plum. It's the toe next to the little toe. It felt so much better this morning that I did a two mile jog, so if it was broken it's not a bad break. I should be able to meet my goal after all. :)

SO glad that your toe wasn't seriously injured, Tabbycat - I must say, you are fierce to go running on it without knowing, before! Great job savemykissesx and gardenerjoy!

I had a slightly tougher time keeping up with my goal of 4 kettlebell sessions per week, this week. I got a session in on the 21st (start of the week) and the 24th. As long as I do kettlebells tonight and tomorrow, I'll be good.

Darn the distractions!

I met my goal for my week three of the challenge, but I AM TIRED. I pushed myself particularly hard, yesterday. I'm running out of time, I guess, and the last part of the zipper for my wedding gown is snug. I don't want to have to let it out! SIGH. 18 days until my wedding. I don't know that exercise can get my back circumference down by another half inch by then, or make my arms look just a wee bit better in strapless, but I'm trying. In a way, I can't wait until it's over, so that I can refocus on just living healthfully and meeting my goals over time without so much pressure from myself!

Sorry for the rant.

Thanks, Tabbycat! You'll make it-no doubts there! One of the things I've always been impressed with is that you are a consistent runner. I read your previous post and I know all too well what's it like when your schedule is off for whatever reason. Heck, even when my schedule is optimal there are times I struggle and that's when I realize that running (maybe all exercise that one has set standards and/or goals) is very much mental.

I agree with immaculate; all that kettlebell swinging/lifting combined with cardio must have you feeling very confident and fit. Please don't let that natural "but just a little bit more" impulse put a damper on ALL your hard work and current results. You're going look beautiful! And you're so right about the 3FC forums. I really like the accountability aspect of the challenges, too.

I re-adjusted my goal around the fifteenth because I realized that 200 miles was way to much. hahaha. Anyway, my goal was 100+ miles and no Sundays or Tuesdays....

So, I exercised most Sundays and Tuesdays anyway....and I walked/rode/or ran 136 miles.

I would say Goal! but if you're going by my initial 200, then nope. :-)
