Good morning IPeeps!

I got some new alternatives yesterday that I'm excited to try today. I did try the quest bars yesterday and they were yummy. Today it's the healthsmart honey nut cereal.

I'll be out of town for a confernce next week and was trying to find carry on friendly non-restricteds that are ready to eat. So far I'm loving the quest bars.

I am planning on switching to alternatives soon and an looking for a good tasting CHoCOLATE SHAKE MIX. Any reccomendations??
I did read the alternative forums, and I took notes but I must have forgotten to take notes on choc shake mixes. Lol!!

Ohhhh now I can't wait for my Quest bars to arrive! I ordered them a few days ago online.

Today... I feel skinny! It's a good day. Love that feeling first thing in the morning. After no weight loss for 9 days, I've dropped 5 scale pounds in 6 days. (Yes, I weigh every morning)

Another busy day for me. Making sandwiches with the evil rotisserie chicken for the hubby and kiddo. (Lisa should get that one) :D

I think I'll have a hot coffee this morning (as my house was pretty chilly) and then maybe a chocolate/spinach smoothie for my morning protein :coffee2:

Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL day!!!

Morning, All -- Nice to see everyone chipper this morning!

Big bummer about the rotisserie chicken, but can't say I am surprised. I am finding that there is much more cooking/prep on this plan than I initially gave it credit for. Very few, if any, convenience foods seem to apply. Oh well.

Do you all reward yourselves for mini-goals reached? I decided to reward for every 10 lbs. (So I got my first reward after week 1, LOL.) I think, to keep my eyes facing forward and not focusing on a smallish loss this past week, I will do a little virtual shopping for my next reward. I don't know what it will be, but it will be something fun, frivolous, and just for me! . . . Oh, and I s'pose a little house cleaning is on my horizon, too.

Have a good day, all!

Good morning, it's another beautiful day in sunny Arizona.:sunny: I have been out of the loop because of limited wifi where we are staying. What's the deal with rotisserie chicken? Is it injected with carbs?:( I have been staying op out here. My friend has been very supportive. We bring a little cooler with veggies, water and a rtd everywhere we go. Have a nice day!

Good Morning! I've been on IP since Oct and have done quite well. Lately I have been having pain in my lower side of my back and wondering if it's possibly my kidney? I have read that increase of protein can wreak some havoc on the kidneys but not sure if that's a myth or not? I have done the cleanse from IP as well as I drink a ton of water. If anybody has had this issue and can maybe point me in the right direction it would appreciated!

CLO2551,

Please go to the dr and get it checked. This diet has adversely affected my health, and I wasnt proactive about going to my dr. I went last friday hence I am on Phase 3 right now, and basically phasing off. I dont want to scare you, just being honest. I also lost 50 percent of my hair, but thats another can of worms:(

I was just looking at the counts. Would that be restrict or non??? It looks like non, but for some reason, like I tell Scorbett, even though I have done the carb/fiber count before, for some reason, I get nervous I will eat the wrong thing. Does the sugar alcohol come into play?? God knows I need help in the poop department, but that stuff literally goes right through me.

I just had a Quest bar (Cinnamon Roll flavor) for breakfast. It was pretty decent. Like all of these bars, it has a bit of an artifical flavor but I definitely will have it again. It reminded me of an old school PowerBar in terms of texture and appearance. But the flavor is much better than a traditional PowerBar. If you are looking for an IP style bar (krispy things with a yogurt or chocolate drizzle over the top) this is very different than that. But worth a try. I grabbed these on my way in to work this morning. My GNC had them buy three get the fourth free.

Quick question: These are non-restricted. However, the calorie count on some of them hits 200 (which is a bit high). Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Some of the IP non-restricteds hover around the 100 calorie mark, so I'm contemplating if I should only use these once a day or on days when I am more active. Anyone been having similar thoughts? I realize that IP is not a calorie counting program, but as I get closer to goal and losses slow (where I am at), it has been something I've thought about.

ninjanurse- if the fat calories are less than 1/3 of the total calories and they are under 9gm net carbs, they are unrestricted. Over that in either fat or carbs then they would be restricted.

benice- the calories in most of the non-restricteds range between 80-150 calories. The extra 50-120 calories per Quest bar could equal 700-1680 calories over a week if you ate them twice every day. It's probably best to use a variety of different products instead of having only the quest bars.

Well, I have my MRI on my hand today at 1pm...I'll find out if I must have surgery. I got on the scale today and found that I'm up 1lb :?: I've got a feeling it's these damn anti-inflammatories and Vicodin pain pills i'm taking, not to mention this thing is still quite swollen. I know I shouldn't weigh every day, but I couldn't help myself. I was really hoping for a whoosh week this week, but alas, I dont' think it will happen. I'll stay OP and hope for the best next week!

Everyone have a WONDERFUL day!

I can't wait to try the quest bars. They should be here tomorrow! Yay!! As for Chocolate Shake Mix. If you not opposed to protein powders, the Syntha 6 Isolate Chocolate Shake Mix is very yummy and has a great texture when mixed with water. They also have a Vanilla and Strawberry mix as well. I get mine from bodybuilding.com but I believe I've seen it at GNC etc. I normally just buy the EAS shakes right now.. but the Isolate is good for my hubby too.

Illness and injury causes inflammation (swelling) that is water weight. The anit-inflammatories alone won't eliminate it, only reduce it so it doesn't get worse. Ignore the darn scale right now!
So sorry you are dealing with this!

Altho not "technically" restricted (based on fat/carbs), I count Quest Bars as restricted due to the calorie content. Most of the non-restricted packets I use are 80- 100 calories each. I actually had a "non-restricted" Quest AND a restricted IP today, due to poor planning but I probably won't do that again.

It DOES get a little more complicated when using non-IP brands but it is certainly "doable" if we keep track of what we are doing.

This plan isn't really a protein increase (unless you were eating mostly carbs prior to IP). You can find both positive and negative info re: ketogenic diets when searching the web. However, anytime there is a medical question, getting your doctor involved to make sure all is a-okay is IMPORTANT!
People with pre-existing kidney issues shouldn't do this diet (and sometimes people didn't even know they had pre-existing condition until they start having difficulties on the diet).

Smooth Move Tea has helped me before and I know so many others on this board. I've also heard that Nova Cleanse helps as well. What I noticed has helped me before and during this journey, is I take one probiotic everyday. I picked up a bottle of the 365 Probiotics at Whole Foods and it actually keeps me pretty regular. I don't go everyday, but I don't ever really feel constipated since I've started taking one pill a day with the rest of the vitamins and mediciations I take. I know starting any of these, the first couple of days you may feel a bit bloated or gassy. But as you continue to use them, I think your body understands what to do with it and it isn't so odd feeling. ;)

If the miralax made you bloated, you may want to contact your MD and make sure you aren't dealing with impaction. Miralax isn't a stimulant laxative, it's a stool softener (helps make stuff easier to pass). It draws water into the colon. If you were bloating from Miralax then what's going on may be too much for the Miralax to handle.

I bought my Smooth Move Tea at Target. It was next to the regular teas. However, I've heard people can get it at CVS, Walgreens etc. You may want to call up your closest place and check if they have it. I don't believe IP sells the Smooth Move Tea but I think they sell the Nova Cleanse. And yes, it's worth the try for the benefits. I know it's miserable to be constipated and like so many others on this board, a nice whoosh before my weigh in has helped me get rid of an extra pound. :o

My coach came back with some new guidelines from the super confab in New Orleans last week. New protocol is that they got rid of "you can have anything that's 0-0-0." Now if it's not on the sheet you're not supposed to have it. The thing that she specifically pointed out to me was Cascade Ice. I usually don't drink a bottle but do put a couple of ozs in some of my drinks to make them a little better. She also said sweetners are now a "no-no" like Stevia and Splenda as one packet (serving) supposedly has .9 calories in them. Just enough to stay under the FDA guidelines. Walden Farm products are still ok (makes you wonder if they don't have a stake in the company).

Hi everyone. First time I have been able to get online today. Work is a bear right now.

BUT I did get to go to weigh in this morning and make up for last week's lower weigh-in (which had not matched the losses I was seeing on the home scale last week): 5.5 lbs!! I feel like I look smaller every day too.

I was surprised to find the HealthSmart cereal called for milk (not at all like the IP Crispy Cereal.) I do like the Cinnamon cereal for a crunchy snack with my afternoon tea, though!

7,400 boxes of cookies have passed through my hands and I have not eaten one! But I dream of them....:nono:

Thanks, Suchawittygal. I am cringing about your injury!

Floonimbus those **** demon desserts are in my face every day at work. The fragrance kills me! But I can't imagine having to deal with that many.

I will be ignoring those changes unless/until I stop losing. I don't et enough 0/0/0 things to make a difference, and I can't deal with one more restriction.

Honestly, why mess with a good thing? They should be focusing on fixing actual issues, like hair loss or constipation.

Oh my!! I don't think I could have resisted that temptation. I love tagalongs!!! No one in my family was allowed to buy Girl Scout cookies this year. Lol!

Okay, I've decided to go full alternatives with some IP mixed in. I'm so nervous about it, but it will be the best decision for me financially. I feel strong enough to continue down this path and reach my goal.

Wish me luck!

Just finished my week of phase 2. Down 0.5 pound this week, for a total of 64.5 pounds total. Have to phase off before goal because of the extreme hair loss, but trying to be very positive about it. Actually, I'm getting excited. Tomorrow is my first day of phase 3, so looking forward to breakfast and to starting my exercise regimen. My ideal goal is still 35 pounds away, so we'll see how this goes for awhile. If I'm not making any progress, I'll go back to phase 1 for a couple more months to reach my goal after the hair loss is under control and new hair is coming in. I guess I better enjoy the journey! When I started I wanted to lose 100 pounds!!!! So, needless to say, 35 doesn't sound bad at all :dizzy:

So I had my WI last night and down 3.2 lbs!
So excited, just saying!
As for the Quest bars, I have the chocolate brownie one. I consider it a restricted because I warm it in the microwave add WF carmel sauce and WF marshmellow cream. Totally awesome treat in the evening! If I think of it as a restricted I am not tempted to have it every day as well.

I was surprised to find the HealthSmart cereal called for milk (not at all like the IP Crispy Cereal.) I do like the Cinnamon cereal for a crunchy snack with my afternoon tea, though!

I just ate it dry today. It was pretty good, and nice to snack on slowly.

I bought 6 boxes of GS cookies for the family. They are in the pantry now. I keep all my packets and bars in a separate cabinet, so I don't have to look in the pantry that often.

<booty shake, boot shake>

:carrot::carrot: 5.5 lbs :carrot::carrot:
