Default The Dreaded Question

Ok, so on Day 5, feeling much better than before. I just have one question and I hate to ask it.

Considering most of my diet is liquids (not solids) I am not passing large dry stools like someone on a ketogenic diet eating a lot of fats and meats and getting constipated.

Instead it's watery and very oily with not a lot of matter passing. I am drinking smooth move tea, 1-2 cups a day. Anyone else experience this? Hoping it will subside as my body gets use to more IP foods.

Sorry for the TMI, just trying to figure this out.

Try holding off on the smooth move tea for a couple of days and see if that improves. It could be your body going through a transition to the new type of food and it doesn't need the smooth move complicating things right now. Others have a problem with sugar alcohols causing the Big D so look at what you are using and see if you need to switch to something else to calm down your system. Again you may find this is just part of the transition.

You're drinking too much Smooth Move!

I drink at most one a day, sometimes every other day (if I forget) and I usually do fine. The one time I drank 2 a day was not pretty. It's not required that you drink it. If you're eating all your veggies, you might not need it at all.

When I first started a lot of people told me I could get "C" but I was the more like you with the watery, loose, oily. It's probably just your body getting used to the diet and "cleaning out". I'm on week 5 and things are starting to slow down to where I think I might need the tea since it's been different than it was in the beginning.

Is it okay to have the Smooth Tea every day? On the box, it says to only use it occasionally (or something to that effect). Something about needing more and more of it to do the same job, if you use it consistently.

You really shouldn't use any senna product (or ex lax, mag citrate, or anything else that stimulates the intestines) every day or when you don't actually have an issue going on. The body can build a tolerance and get "lazy", and if you stop using it things won't work correctly - or as you mentioned you will need more and more to get the same effect.

Thanks, Scorbett! That's what I thought. I try only to use the Smooth Tea a couple times a week.

Same here - I wait till I haven't had anything happen in a few days, have one cup before bed, and if nothing happens one cup the next morning. That usually does the trick

I tried the enzymes too but they didn't work for me. I haven't looked for smooth move but along the same lines is dieters tea and I've found that around. I bought my last stash a while ago online so sorry I don't have a store to suggest. Safeway wold be great if they have it.

I was having the same problem when re-starting IP. It had been a few days so i upped my EVOO a little, had a mug of smooth move tea and i was good. Also, i've been taking cider vinegar/kelp/levithin/b6 supplements (one after B/L/D) and those seem to have kept things really regular. It gets better, i promise!

I've had issues with regularity since I started, though I religiously eat my veggies. Even when not on IP I tend to go 3 days without movement! I'll try the smooth move, hadn't heard of it before. Thanks you guys!
