I felt like it wasn't going to be a good weigh in. I weighed myself 3 days after my last weigh in and dropped 3 more pounds but by the time the end of the week came around, I had gained 2. I know the program works, I've seen others succeed and want the same for me. I dropped 4.5 inches though. My coach seemed perplexed that I gained weight but dropped inches. We discussed the fact that I may be constipated and told me what to do for that. She asked me to come back in 3 days and get weighed again.
**Pitty Party Warning**
Sometimes I wonder if anything will ever work for me or am I doomed to constantly fail. In the back of my head there are voices that tell me I can't do it. I just keep pushing them away and try positive self talk.
Thanks for listening,
Kim
4.5" is a great loss! If you are having issues with constipation it will show up badly in the weigh in.
Make sure you are drinking all your water and do what the coach recommended for the big C. Once that is resolved, you should be happy with what the scale says.
For now, ignore the scale and negative voices in your head. You are doing great!
Unless you totally pigged out, you did NOT gain 2lbs of real weight. You have to eat 3500 calories in order to gain one pound. It is probably water retention.
A few questions that might help: did you have a few high sodium meats, are you using a lot of pickles/jarred peppers, or did you have anything else that might have been high in sodium? Did you drink all of your water every day? Any illness or injury that might cause inflammation? Are you expecting TOM soon?

I know how you feel. I had a 10lb loss my 1st week. I know it works too. I just want at least 3lb loss and i will be happy Congrats you have done so well. I am stuck with a loss of 1lb a week and i am following the diet. No Cheating !. I am getting discouraged. My hours were cut on my job. That $100 is killer. $100 per 1lb makes it harder
Hey there and welcome! Don't worry, it sometimes happens and it's usually water retention combined with bad timing of your WI. It happened to me a few weeks back. I was down the day before WI, but then up +2.8 on weigh in morning. I had some stomach bug that caused bloating and lots of water retention. The bug was gone in a few days, so I did an unofficial mid-week weigh in and found not only was the +2.8 gone, but also another 2+ lbs was gone. It could be any of the things Scorbett and the others mentioned. This program really does work if you just follow the rules.

Hang in there! The weight will come off. So sorry about the hours on the job being cut. There are a lot of us here on alternatives, which makes the diet cost a lot less. There are threads just for the alternative products here.
Also, just to let you know, 3lbs is really not the standard. IP used to preach this, but it's not realistic for women. It's very rare to have someone who's had a 3lb average over their weight loss journey. The losses just come and go as your body wants them to, if you stick to the plan 100%. Any loss is called good, and even gains happen (water retention, TOM, Big C, etc.). It's all part of the process.
It most likely was water weight expecially if TOM is on its way. Definitely make sure you are drinking all of your water and then some if TOM is hanging around. You're body also is going through a period of adjustment and I've found my body doesn't like that. It tries to hang on to the old ways, but gives up when I'm persistent and keep on moving in the right direction.

I had a paycut about 2-3 weeks into IP and ended up switching to alternatives because of the cost.
You had a loss of 11lbs in 2 weeks, it's worth it!
Thank you everyone for the support. I'm breathing and determined to stick to this plan and not throw in the towel like I have in the past.
Scorbett;
I did have a lot of sodium that week so that may play a part. I am drinking water like crazy but Sunday I did not have as much. Your input and advice is very valuable.
amberjules (fellow PNW girl);
It makes sense that my body is trying to hold on to it's old ways. I've been at this set-point weight for so long. Don't expect TOM for another week. On another note, I'll be making the Chocolate Zucchini Cookies this week. I'm finding great recipes on this site.
Nolawhodatchick;
Glad to know I'm not the only one.
I keep saying it too -- even on BIGGEST LOSER -- with certified coaches training them 8 hrs a day, and eating low cal etc. there are some weeks THEY gain or only lose a pound. Your body needs to adjust and some weeks will be worse than others. What other diet have you ever lost 11 pounds in 14 days??
You won't lose 3 pounds a week. Remember no "only"s here. you didn't "only" lose a pound. Go to the fridge, grab a pound of butter and say "OMG- That is not on my body any more!
The $$ part is hard -- we get that. But stick with it. If it becomes really too much, try the alternatives. I buy one box a week of stuff from my coach that I like (like BBQ crisps or Rotini). Shakes and bars I can get for a buck fifty a shake or bar at costco. It's much more affordable.
