I've started giving the bikram yoga teachers nicknames.

February 1: 90 minutes bikram yoga with Big Bang Lee (he's super nerdy looking and I picture him on Big Bang theory)

February 2: 95 minutes bikram yoga with Big Bang Lee before leaving for our Napa getaway. Hope it offsets some of the decadence planned.

Saturday, Feb. 9th:

60 minute spin class with weight intervals, because yes, there were 11 people within walking distance of the gym who showed up to attend the class
60 minute Pilates mat class, sort of a hybrid of stretching and yoga, as the regular Pilates instructor couldn't make it in and someone else subbed for her

Amazed that I had a gym workout this morning. And yeah, it took me maybe a half-hour to get my car clean and freed.

It was fun and different to go to a different studio and afterwards we walked around and found a fairly healthy lunch. I bought a 10 pass for each of us with the groupon and I doubt we'll use them all, but maybe we'll use a few more before they expire. It just ends up being most of the day for us, but we had a nice day!

Feb 8: Nothing really. Did some pushups on the beach.
Feb 9: Snorkeled and got SORE afterward, did lots of thrashing/swimming. Lots of walking, probably 4-5 miles total, at no hurried pace.
Feb 10: Attempted a somewhat hungover jog alongside the beach. Sat on back of moped. Walked 3 miles at a somewhat brisk pace to dinner.

There was a newish girl next to me and the instructor told her to sit out of one of the poses and watch me. She said, "Watch her-- she's good". It made my evening! I made sure I did that pose perfect (or as close to it as I can!).

Michele, I suspected from your posts and your attention to detail and your hard work that you'd be good at Bikram yoga. Wish I could take my first class in it with you to watch.

Anytime you want to visit the Bay Area I'd be glad to take you!! I'll let you know if/when I come to New York....

I've also decided that I like to be the "teacher's pet". I was like that as a kid until I became somewhat rebellious as a teenager. Now, in yoga I'm always striving to do my best. Last night in class, the teacher kept saying "great job Michele" and "perfect pose Michele" and I was just beaming like an idiot!

How did you like the spin class, krampus? I hated my first one and did not go back for at least a month. Then I broke my foot and couldn't do anything else so I started spinning (in the boot). Now I am addicted.

Feb. 22: mat pilates class, 50 min elliptical. No dog walk - it's yucky out.

Oh, you guys, it took me forever to try a spin class. I ended up on a bike just because I'm getting older and can't run: Too many damn recurrent injuries, mostly a wicked case of plantar fasciitis. So I used to sit on a stationary bike, cranked to a very high resistance, and peddle for an hour. I found it incredibly boring and uncomfortable, as those bikes aren't very adjustable. Also their resistance varied so much. The gym's director saw how regular I was about this activity and said, "Why don't you try spin?" I was so shy, I wouldn't even attempt it for weeks & started avoiding her in case she asked again. I don't have any memory of trying the class but I think it was an instant addiction, because it was far more exciting than the stationary bike.

Okay so today I had a very hard time getting to the gym. This was one of my mornings that happen periodically where I got up, got dressed and then somehow my will gave out and I just sat there. Usually it's when I am overwhelmed by some task at work that I haven't yet done, and that feels critical, and I feel like I can't do anything else till I attend to it. And then my manager wanted a report on a project I'd been overseeing by close of business, because her manager needed to include the status in a report for **his** manager. Then my manager also wanted me to draft language and a plan for part of everyone's 2013 goals. (Yes, we're just doing the "sign up letters" now, for March.)

So no gym till 6:30 PM tonight.

60 minutes back & biceps routine, back to weights, which I hadn't done since last Tuesday because of going away.

Feb. 23: wanted to make up for lack of yesterday's exercise, so I took 2 bikram yoga classes. One at 11 am, the other at 4 pm. The second class really wiped me out, but I sure slept like a baby (and my weight was down this morning). I feel like I'm getting sick again though which makes me MAD. I want to go to Zumba today but I don't feel I can handle jumping and dancing so I'll probably do yoga again. :mad:
