Mother's Day is only 15 weeks away!! How would you like to wake up on May 12th sporting a hot, new body?? I thought we could start another challenge to give us the incentive to feel amazing on Mother's Day! Well, ok...those sweet homemade gifts from our children are priceless, but the day will be even better when we feel great about ourselves, too!! :)

So who's with me? 30 by Mother's Day...starting with posting losses during the week of February 4th!

P.S. Would a Spreadsheet expert be able to put another spreadsheet together for this thread?

I'm confused. Here you say it STARTS officially on Feb 3.
On the form it says week ending Feb 3, which means we would enter stats this week

So, do we enter info NOW or wait?
Everyone has a different WI day so would be entering on that day.

WorldTraveleronIP
01-30-2013, 08:56 AM
Sorry for the confusion:
I'll get rid of the "week ending Feb 3rd" on the form.Enter your stats (starting weight) anytime this week. Then, record your losses each week after your weigh-in. You can choose the week you are recording your weight from the drop down menu and it doesn't have to be Sunday. I just did the countdown that way because it leads up to Mother's Day, which is on a Sunday.

Thanks for catching that...I was in a hurry.

Ok-Form is edited and ready to go!

Is there a way for us to see our (or each others) progress on this challenge?

That's a nice feature to using a spreadsheet (e.g., the spreadsheet used for tracking the 30 by Valentine's challenge) rather than a weekly form....you can see each week's loss, your total loss on the challenge, how close you are to the goal, etc.

The potential problem I see with the spread sheet is that anyone can accidentally alter, delete it or type over someone else, etc. I thought this was easier for people to input. I can post the spread sheet periodically throughout the challenge. If enough people want the sheet anyone can edit, I will switch it.

I will give it a go, last time on IP, I averaged 1.75 lbs loss per week over a 4 month period with no cheats. However, the challenge keeps me motivated and I am so looking forward to spring :)

It looks like our group is growing!! :carrot:

It sounds as though the spreadsheet (similar to the 30 by Valentines) is desired for this challenge. Since many of you are familiar with that spreadsheet, I can understand why you'd want to use it. I do like WorldTraveleronIP's form, and I really appreciate the time she put into it. I can see the pros & cons of both, so I am indifferent.

Would anyone be able to create, or upload, a spreadsheet similar to that used in the 30 by Valentine's Challenge? I would love to, but am not sure how to.. This would need to be created quickly as this challenge is starting really soon!! Any superheroes out there willing to save the day??

Well I weighed in this morning...scary!!! It's my starting point. The spreadsheet was simple to use. For the 1st week I just put my weight, a 0 loss (since today is my start), and that I haven't been on plan. Well folks...that will all change today!!

Good luck!

BeccaGrim
01-31-2013, 10:05 AM
Okay, so I want to just make sure I understand what to do.

This is week 1.
You want my current weight (not my starting weight six weeks ago)
And the weight loss for right now is 0 because its just starting. Is this correct?

Ok, I've made a spreadsheet to track our losses during this challenge. If people want to use the weekly spreadsheet...great! If you want to use the daily form...great! If you want to use both....also great!

Here is the link:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aivt6pdiIICTdGdVWTNCYjJ5TVMxSllpdXcxWEZHe UE

Given the number of people who participated in the Valentine's Day challenge, I included ~60 lines with formulas built in. I can always add more if needed. If you have problems accessing the spreadsheet please let me know. The permissions should be set correctly, but you never know.....

Hi all,

I just joined and added myself to the spreadsheet, I hope that's ok! So I put in what my current weight is and then zeros for the weigh ins that are not applicable to me (because they are already past), is that how I'm supposed to do this? Sorry for the late addition, but I really want to join the party!

Thanks,
Sam

I do my updates on my WI day, so it's Fridays for me. I'm sure you can update on your WI day. You can put zeros in if you like on your row for missing weeks where you had not started yet, unless you were already started with IP and happen to know what your losses were. If you do have those numbers, I see no harm putting them in even if you started the 30 by Mother's Day group just now. I say a loss is a loss :-) and needs counted! I did not start this thread, but I'm sure however it helps you the most to account for the weeks is fine. Nice to have you here :)

Welcome! Yes, you can update on your weigh in day. My official weigh in day is Wednesday, too. I update the sheet right after I get home from my WI.

Small whoosh this week--3.2 pounds! So my total loss since the challenge began is 13.8 pounds. Even if I don't quite make it to 30 by Mother's Day, I'll still happy with my losses. :)

I'm not sure why, so I looked it up. They say long flights and physical inactivity. I flew from Seattle to Atlanta (and back) and boy are my arms tired! (oops sorry bad joke there) http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/187978.php Anyway 5 hours pinned in the window seat must be what they are talking about. That bag under the seat ahead of me made it so I couldn't really even stick my feet out and the guy sitting next to me of course has his knee over in my space. LOL one guy was falling asleep and falling over onto me. Anyway consider these observations about why I didn't flex and move - not complaints. It was a horrible ordeal when I weighed 100+ lbs more the time I flew before IP.

slow coupla weeks for me since I was on a course of Prednisone for my back. But I still lost a tad. Before IP, I would have gained 10 lbs in 10 days on steroids.

I weigh daily on the wii fit. Weight REALLY jumped around this last 10 days (down one, up 2, down 2 up 2.5...all over the map). Good lesson in being a neutral observer, knowing I'm doing the right stuff & it will all work out.

I'm the same height as you, and at about the same weight now that you started at. I haven't been loosing as quickly as I was at first and I attribute it to the fact that our height, we need fewer calories than a taller person to loose or maintain, so as our weight decreases consuming the same amount of calories will result in a lower/slower loss. I know that IP burns our fat for energy, but I still think the calorie deficit has an effect, and we need fewer calories to keep up bigger losses as the deficit stays the same. I know some shorter people have bigger losses as they reach an even lower weight, but metabolism, age, medical conditions... all combined with the diet have an effect on our loses. Stay strong, don't hold yourself to a timetable or judge what your losses should be by other people's losses, and you'll get where you want to be.

Lesa03
04-19-2013, 12:52 AM
I'm telling ya sometimes being short sucks. One of the biggest problems is when we put on weight it shows more because there is less space for the fat to distribute ugh! I'm hoping my losses pick up again but as long as I'm losing weight or inches or both I'm happy ;) thanks for the support rarebird! :D it really helps!!

I'm down 3.4 pounds this week, and that puts me at 22 lbs lost during the challenge. Pretty sure I'm not going to lose another 8 pounds in the next couple of weeks, so I won't make the 30 lbs lost by Mother's Day. But that's OK...what other plan could enable you to lose 22 pounds in about 3 months? I'm about 23 pounds away from my goal, and my losses have definitely slowed, but the numbers on the scale and the tape measure continue to go down!:)

Thanks Lisa, I knew something was amiss, as my last WI didn't land on the last column as it should have, but it was a work day and I was hurrying. I went back and skipped over the second 4/29 column and got 'er done. Woot! Not only did I make the challenge, I ended up hitting my total goal that I had set earlier of 195 (though I later changed it to 185). So great challenge! It helped me stay very focused. 10 more to go - I'll work those on the July 4th challenge and call it done and get my rear into maintenance.

Congratulations all for all the losses! Regardless if you made the 30 mark or not the pounds came off. Together we lost 826pounds and I know there's entries still to be made.
