Good morning everyone. It's icy here! Yesterday there was snowfall and a 1000km traffic jam! Day one, week one today. I'm ready. So far I've had a spinach/coffee/choc pudding smoothie. Has anyone made warm drinks/warm meals with the puddings? Have a good day.
I just had a look at your pics Lisa 32, very inspiring. Thank you

I'm hoping for a better day today than yesterday. I managed to stay 100% OP yesterday but was really in a funk and nothing seemed to taste good. Today's WI at least set the stage for a better day, with a 2 pound loss over last week. One day at a time ...

Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning. My name is Trina and I started IP 2 weeks ago. I usually hate a restricted diet but not this one! I have not had any cravings to cheat yet and I cook for my family, however I only make one meal and don't eat the carbs that they do. It is helpful reading your posts and seeing all your successes so far. My first WI I lost 14 and I was committed. I go for my 2nd WI tomorrow and hope to have lost at least 1 but I am most excited about seeing how many inches I have lost. I will check in tomorrow evening to give a status. Hope everyone has a great day!

Did you say you lost 14 lbs in the first week? Wowser!!! That is amazing!!:D Makes it easy to stick to when it works so well, don't you think?

I made so many trips to the potty yesterday that our office manager was laughing every time she saw me! But apparently I was peeing out the bad stuff I ate and drank on Sat night cause not only did I lose the extra I had gained from that but I also seem to be down a LB from last week WI. My "official" WI is tomorrow so we'll see!!! Yes, I am a daily weigher...I know it's bad but i can't help myself! Especially when I see a drop of a couple of LBs in a couple of days! It makes me that much more focused!

Soooo inspired by all of your stories...today is a snow day for my kids..this poses a challenge for me because our snow day traditions are filled with making cookies..hot chocolate..mac and cheese etc etc...BUT tonight is my first WI so im not going to screw it up..the kids are on their own in the kitchen( yikes.. Great way to start off the program- those smoothies are my go to for breakfast. I have heated the chocolate pudding up like hot chocolate by adding more water, but I much prefer the choc. drink packet to do that. I find the choc. pudding just tastes a little chalky to me like that.

Actually on here with time to post today- home with a sick little boy so we are veggin out and watching a movie. My daughter must be getting sick to because she is sleeping in well over an hour past her normal wake up. Have my week 20 weigh-in tomorrow morning hoping to hit 70 lbs lost!Have to admit though lately I have hit a bit of a mental wall, but have stayed 100% need to refocus somehow and get myself ready to push to the end. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning IP'ers. I have contracted the crud that most had at Christmas and New Years. I laid on the couch next to the burning woodstove all yesterday and slept most of a beautiful day away.
I mostly lurk here and only check in once in awhile. I have trouble keeping up and honestly I don't read alot of the new threads, they are very repetitive.
*I just want to say to all the newbies out there, you will get much more support and information if you read the stickies and the opening message of the daily thread and posting to the daily thread.*
The best advice I can give is stick to the plan, plain and simple. IT WORKS! Plateaus (stalls) happen to everyone, trust the plan. IT WORKS!
There is great support on this forum and vast experience, several people who have been on the plan for longer periods of time and have lost in excess of 100 lbs.
These people have busy lives as well and don't have time to surf all the new threads to help all the newbies, make it easier for the veterans to help you by posting on the daily thread.
Sorry for my rant, I am blaming the medication!:dizzy:

WI Wk#6 Tonight, then a meeting where we are having a soup supper, decided to make a beef stew/soup with PH1 veggies and beef so I know there will be something there for me too. Waiting patiently for a ticker, since I didn't find you all until after I started. I too am a daily weigher sometimes twice, stems from the horrific HCG I did a few years ago.

Good Morning,

It is a beautiful snow covered upstate NY today, only about 3-4 inches, so it is pretty!

Today was 2nd Weigh In and it was -0.2, I can't say ONLY, I promised WUV I would never say ONLY! I hope to be 100% by next week's WI, although my doctor said I can count on at least a 3 week cough with this years flu, I would hate to see how sick I would have been if I didn't get the Flu shot.

Stay Healthy fellow Ipeeps

IP43 welcome to onederland, it is fantastic!

14lbs Trina!! Woot Woot!! That is great!

And a big shout out to all who also lost! Yay!

Today is start of day 3 for me! And work called me last night and gave me the day off today because it's not busy. Its' been nice having the beginning of the week off to start IP. So far, I can't say I have felt too bad. A little headache here and there, but nothing major. I am hoping the worst of it occurs during the first few days because then I know I can handle it here on out. I have been a bit hungry but I have been able to control it. Not starving at least. Little worried about the weekend because that s when the honey likes to go out and eat!

Last night I had made some chili lime tofu not realizing that lime isn't on approved list. I guess I thought it was ok since lemon was. So hope that little hiccup doesn't set me back. My coach says to try and not do too much tofu which makes sense but the truth is I don't really eat much meat and chicken. Will have to focus on seafood I guess. Anyone that eats tofu had any slow results?

Today, I am going to take my own measurements. My coach only weighed me on the fancy scale with the handles at the beginning but I see that a lot of you talk about inches lost so it would probably benefit me to do so!

Day 3 here I come...!! Have a great day all!

Hello again! My co-worker lent me her copy of the IP cookbook but after perusing it I am left with a question...many of the recipes use both an IP product and a protein. Is this acceptable for P1? I was under the impression that it should be either the IP food or the 'real" protein...

I sometimes have a lime wedge in a glass of plain seltzer. I checked the nutritional content of 1 oz of lime juice vs. 1 oz of lemon juice. They are the same, except that lemon juice has 1 g sugar and the lime juice has none. I think a little lime juice is ok.

So I weighed in today, down another 0.8lb and 1.75 inches!!! I know I'm getting very close to phasing off, and it's exciting! I've been loving the exercise, I do a Couch to 5K running program three days a week, and three days of yoga (which I stepped up yesterday, got a video that is a 50 minute program - I felt AMAZING after finishing it! I know the exercise is contributing to my slowdown in losses but I'm totally OK with that - muscle weighs more than fat and I know I'm getting stronger :) Plus those inches gone make me VERY happy!!

I was so busy at work yesterday that I didn't even have a chance to go online and check in! I never have a chance when I'm at home! My browser is acting up too, so hopefully I can get caught up somewhat before it crashes again!

For the first time on IP I think TOM messed up my WI. Normally I average about 2.5lbs a week...this week was 1.4. However, last week was high, so the average of both weeks was still 2.4 so that's still pretty decent overall! I am very hopeful that by the next WI I will be in the 150's...keep your fingers crossed for me! :D

Today was WI for me and -4 pounds and 2 1/2 inches!! I was very happy because I started the C25K last week and walked on a few other days. I was afraid it would slow me down a little but it didn't. I know the time will come when it will catch up and I am good with it, I am fine with lower loss and more muscle.

I use various flavors of Mrs. Dash seasoning along with the sea salt. My family enjoys it too, actually. We're all trying to eat healthier around here. I prepare chicken a lot - usually baked, but sometimes in the crock pot too. I'm not big on recipes - I find what I like and stick to it. I do enjoy reading all of the posts and getting inspired when I have time. :)

If you can report back when you get the specifics, I would appreciate it. I don't see a coach, and I thought I read somewhere on the forum that they can be used interchangeably, so I've been doing just that.

Thanks everyone for your answers on my olive oil question yesterday.

Great weigh-ins today... we can do this! My second weigh in was today and I'm down 2.4 pounds this week. I wanted Biggest Loser weigh-ins, but I'm not spending the entire day exercising, so as long as I continue moving steadily downward, I'll be happy. My long term goal is 62 pounds by July 1, so I'll be close if I can manage to loose 10 pounds a month. From what I've seen here, it's certainly doable! With any other diet I've been on, for me that would be an unrealistic goal, unless I spent the day in the gym, which I certainly don't have time to do.

Day 3 here I come...!! Have a great day all!

I am a vegetarian and my main proteins for dinner are tofu, eggs, and Gardein Chick'n Strips. I usually just rotate these throughout the week. The sheet that I have includes plain tofu in the other protein category that is allowed.

There are many vegetarians around here who are on IP. I try and balance with lower carb vegetables since tofu (and other fake meat products) do have some carbs.

YAY YAY YAY :carrot:

Hey, I've had some terribly stinky gas for the past few nights. Is this typical?

Also, short of using the strips, are there any signs that would indicate I'm in ketosis?

Are you eating something with sugar alcohol in it like malitol? Or maybe a lot of broccoli that you aren't used to? They would both cause gas. Ketosis can also be recognized by bad breath, your deodorant doesn't seem to make it all day anymore, and you suddenly have more energy.

Good morning everyone! I did my second WI and I am down 2.4 pounds for a total of 10.4 in two weeks :-)

YAY! Keep up the good work!

Today is my first day on ip. Just curious, what do you put on your chicken/ fish when cooking to give it some flavor??

Any kind of herbs or seasonings (read labels to avoid sugar or table salt additions) walden farms products make nice marinades or glazes.

Does anyone else use lime or have a coach that says lime is ok?

A tiny bit of lime zest would give a lot of flavor with no carbs.

Today is day #4 for me and I am feeling like my normal self again! :D So happy, no headache today and not overly tired!!! I am feeling like I can really do this!!! Hoping it only gets easier from here! I felt like a wanted to quit yesterday but today I woke up feeling like maybe there is a light at the end of this tunnel! :carrot:

You can do it! The rewards for diligence way outweigh the temporary sacrifice!

FINALLY!!!! I HIT ONEDERLAND!!!!!!!!!! I'm 199.75, but heck, I'll take it!

Hey, I've had some terribly stinky gas for the past few nights. Is this typical?

Everyone processes differently so you will have to look at what you are eating. I have heard people complain specifically about cauliflower, rutabaga and omega 3 capsules. I think that if you usually didn't eat very much fibre before your body may need to adjust. Try upping your water intake when you eat your veggies and don't forget to have a good variety of veggies.

I have been told that if you are following the diet then just trust that you are in ketosis. Other symptoms people describe are: being not as cranky as first week, metallic taste in mouth, bad breath, loss of cravings, weight loss...;)

That is awesome! Are you planning on doing a 5K?

Congrats on an awesome first week, 14 pounds is crazy! :carrot:

Today is my first day on ip. Just curious, what do you put on your chicken/ fish when cooking to give it some flavor??

I just ate my dinner, which was cod that I baked and topped with a little Italian seasoning and a lot of Thyme, I covered it completely with the Thyme so it was like a little crust. I took 1 tsp of butter and dotted it over the top (you could use Olive oil, but I prefer the taste of butter for fish). I then squeezed lemon all around the fish so it cooks in a bit of liquid. That's a trick I learned from a restaurant I worked in..you could use a little water instead if you don't like lemon, but the flavor from lemon is great.

For chicken you can cook same way using your favorite spices, I like rosemary and thyme, if cooking a whole chicken I dust ground sage over it as well and stick a lemon in the cavity, salt and pepper and roast it up.

Another really great chicken dish is to make a 'mock' marsala. Using a tsp of olive oil, brown your chicken breasts in a saute pan. Then take them out and let rest on a plate. To the saute pan add one cup of sliced mushrooms and your second tsp of olive oil (or butter). Let cook for a few minutes, then add two tablespoons of fat free beef broth (you could use chicken, but beef gives a richer flavor for this). Let it reduce a little, then add a hint of trivia for a bit of sweetness if you like or a tsp of marsala wine. (there's less than one carb in a tsp of marsala). pour over the chicken.

You could make a similar sauce for chicken piccata using lemon juice and chicken broth after sauteeing the chicken. That's really good too.

Love hearing all of the great WI's going on!!! Sometimes I wish there was a ticker for the whole group, I can't imagine how many TONS of weight have been lost by the people here!!!

PamC - please don't take this the wrong way, but if you've seen me on the boards you know I have to pipe in :) Butter and marsala wine are not approved for phase 1 - I know (and totally understand) that we all have to make this diet tolerable, and I don't say this to be critical but to inform especially with so many new folks. When anyone is deciding whether to go "off plan" a little here and there with things that might "seem" to be OK - just remember that there is more to the chemistry of this diet than calories and carbs. Something may appear to be ok from a carb standpoint but may have been left off the P1 sheet for a completely different reason (type of sugars present, acidity/alkalinity, etc). Just use caution :)

Scorbett, sorry, I should have made it more clear that I was deviating a little. I did research the marsala though and for that amount it seemed safe, and with the butter, the calorie and fat content is identical to olive oil, so that's why I substitute occasionally...:) I'm very careful on amounts and read all the fine print. I do apologize though if my post was inappropriate. :)

Oh no worries :) As far as the butter goes, just remember that calorie and fat content are NOT the whole story - butter and olive oil are not equivalents. The content of omega 3 and omega 6 are significantly higher in a tsp of olive oil than in a tsp of butter - butter is also higher in saturated fat while olive oil has higher monounsaturated (healthier) fat. There's good reason the program allows one and not the other :)

Hey IPeeps - had a 'rest day' today. Tomorrow I am meeting up with my running group for our regular 6.5 mile since we had a few days hiatus after our 'thunder snow' earlier this week, I made it up on the treadmill - but it's much more fun with the group!

The running group is a slow, conversational ~10/mine mile pace and we stop every 1-1.5 miles for water. I am more mindful to make sure I have a small bite beforehand (usually a protein drink) and something after. I still haven't told anyone in the group that I'm pregnant yet, but so far I haven't had any ill effects (except for morning sickness in the afternoon - which happened last time) and I feel great. I am beat by the evening so morning workouts are definitely the way to go for me as I have a lot of energy when I wake up and it helps me get through the day.

sonya - ooooh - Costa Rica vacation - sounds awesome!!!

scorbett - I used to do the 20-mile Walk for Hunger in Boston every year when I lived there. It's a lot of fun, we always went in a big group and had a great time.

Loving this program and finding that doing it with my husband has helped us both be successful! I had my colonoscopy yesterday and man what a head rush. I had to go on clear liquids on Tue at 10am after my protein shake. I did not want to have anything with sugar so I stuck to water, chicken bullion and sugar free jello. By 6pm I had to start the bowel prep....YIKES! That wiped me out.
I was also up a lot during the night. By 5am I had to drink bottle number 2 followed by 32 oz water within an hour and then nothing by mouth until after the procedure scheduled for 1230pm. I could barely walk in the am I was so weak and my b/p dropped to 92/47. No wonder I was so weak!

When I woke I had my oatmeal in my purse and had that with a cup of coffee and 2 oz of vanilla protein drink. It hit the spot!

I rested all day yesterday and back to work today. I have been feeling rather weak tonight and tired. I am a night owl but find I am tired by 9pm. Yawn!

I hope I start feeling a bit more energized soon.

Oh, and I was down 2 pounds on top of the 4 I lost week one, due to the prep and all. Mon. am WI will be interesting. My husband says he can see a difference in my face. I noticed the same about him, plus his pants are starting to look like baggy old man pants! LOL

Night all. I enjoyed reading all today's posts! Congrats to all!
