Good morning! I'm up, and am still trying to determine if I am "at 'em". I'm feeling a little slow and tired this morning. That's okay - it is probably the low energy feeling that comes the first week. I will make it through.

We are in a high wind warning. Supposed to have 50 mph gusts here today! Better hang on to our hats. It will be pretty darn cold though. bbrrrr

Have my packets laid out, and my protein for supper thawing. It's gonna be a great day.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Morning all! Today is day two for my second time around - hoping it goes better than yesterday. By dinner time I was starving, but as soon as I started eating (eggs with veggies and meat) I was overcome with nausea. I managed to force myself to eat almost all of my food, but I could barely swallow the last bite without gagging. I spent the next two hours feeling as if I'd had the flu (headache and all) and could barely choke down my snack before bed. Didn't sleep well either.

Has anyone that has done a reboot found it to be significantly more difficult the second time around? I remember struggling the first few days last time, as I was getting into Ketosis, but nothing like yesterday.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day! Good luck to all who WI!

Good morning. I hope everyone has an awesome day. I had a strawberry GNC Go Lean RTD with 2 cups of spinach this morning on the way to work along with one small HB egg. The drink looked gross but tasted good. The first two times I had them I put to much spinach in them. I think I found the balance.

Morning all!

sneuse, sorry you're having a rough go with round two. I'm on day six of my second start and truth be told this time is actually easier from a side effects perspective. My first time I felt like I had the flu I was so weak and gross feeling on day 3-4. This time I still have the hunger pangs as I decrease what I'm eating and the cravings are way worse. I want EVERYTHING! hehe. I suspect this comes from holiday overindulgence, but alas, it sucks.

The good news is, as you know, it gets better!! Hang in there. :)

I think for me it was a little bit harder mentally, but the physical headaches were challenging. I was also STARVING. I decided to let myself have four packets for a few days so I didn't go crazy, and by day 3 I felt fine.

Hang in there!

I started a reboot about a week ago. The first time around, about a year ago, I breezed through the first week. This time, it was quite the opposite. On the - 3rd day I was so nauseous and was actually sick. I couldn't think about food, let alone eat anything. I really thought maybe I'd come down with something. I had a monster headache all day, along with the nauseous feeling. I spent the day on the couch, with hot tea. By the next day I was up and feeling pretty much back to normal. I must have had some bad stuff in my system to purge!

I have a rookie question. Is Dole Spring Mix salad considered unlimited lettuce or veggie? I think the latter but I'm not positive. It was so not filling enough so I went ahead and had another veggie too, so I might have gone over by a cup or so. Just wondering.

Gooood morning!!

Does anybody use fatsecret.com? I see myfitnesspal, and I'm thinking of converting, but I've had fatsecret for a lonnnnggg time, and it shows my losses and gains so I kind of like that. If you do, let me know and we'll be buddies! Or maybe I'll just switch (I do hate my user name. I got the account when I did HCG a couple years back... booo)

So I've been sleeping like crap. Any recommendations? I've been 100% OP, eating my snack around 9:00 and going into bed around 10, but falling asleep closer to 1:30 only to wake up every hour tossing and turning. I drink about 110-120 oz of water a day, so while sometimes I wake up to use the restroom, most of the time it's just me tossing and turning. My eyes are so tired and irritated, and I get really pissy in the morning when I have to wake up at 7 for work. This has been happening for about 2 weeks now. :(

Does it have the carrots in it? I would not worry too much about eating extra veggies unless they are sugary ones. What did you have for your extra? And an extra veggie is much better than bag of chips or a candy bar.

So NSV kinda, I just got excited about my trip to St. Martin a month from today! I have one bathing suit that fits and usually only bring two. I just ordered two more from E bay for just under forty bucks. I was going to stay with two but I will be wearing them as shorts too so what the heck. The NSV is the size which is 16" smaller than last time I went and I was smiling when I ordered them because they will fit and be comfortable. Not painful and tight like they used to be.

Thank you. Glad to hear you are having a bit of an easier time with it! I'm just hoping that after I settle into ketosis I feel better. Otherwise I don't think I'll be able to stick it out :(

Thanks! I agree that mentally it was easier at first - it was much more exciting. This time its just like, CAN THIS BE OVER ALREADY!?

Glad to know I'm not alone.... and glad to hear that things should return to normal after a few days. I just couldn't believe how much worse I felt this time around. I guess I just assumed it'd be easier or at least the same! Thanks for the encouragement and for reassuring me that it WILL improve!

Good morning IPers  It has been a lonng while.

I am restarting IP after a hiatus at the end of July. Today is day 2. I have been browsing the forum this morning and do see some familiar, thinner faces :D

This time around I would like to do the alternatives and have been reading around and seeing there are bars (which are perfect for travelling) that may be unrestricted. May you share the magic number of carbs that would make a bar unrestricted, I think it is 8 or less but am not sure. I have been traveling a lot with long days for sports events- bars are easier to travel with than drinks & mixes. In IP the bars were always restricted.

Here is what I was thinking on going with and am wondering if there are any restricted items I should be aware of.

Protidiet chocolate dream bar

Protidiet vanilla wafer bar

Proti thin Sea Salt & Vinegar snacks

Proti thin Chili and Lime Soy snacks

Proti thin hot chocolate drinks
https://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/hot-drinks/proti-thin-hot-drink-hot-chocolate-7-box.html

In addition I have the Premier Nutrition Chocolate drinks I purchased at Costco. They have 30G protein and 5G carbs

Edited to add: I have been drinking my water in the morning and early afternoon so as to make sure I am close to a restroom during critical times. I read somewhere about drinking half your body weight in oz of water so have been chug chug chugging it down!

The calcium magnesium tablets are supposed to help you relax and sleep. What time are you taking them? When I was on IP, I was told never to eat after 8P because your body may keep you awake digesting. If you would to try something else to 'reset' your sleep cycle, I would suggest 5MG melatonin.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day! Good luck to all who WI!

I have read many people who came back to Phase 1 and had a tougher time getting in the groove - it's part of what has been keeping me on the straight and narrow till I'm at goal :)

I have a rookie question. Is Dole Spring Mix salad considered unlimited lettuce or veggie? I think the latter but I'm not positive. It was so not filling enough so I went ahead and had another veggie too, so I might have gone over by a cup or so. Just wondering.

Spring mix is a measured veggie, as is spinach. It's not a big deal if you occasionally go over (as Vet said, better to have an extra cup of veggie than something totally off plan!) - but don't do it too often. Many of the greens in spring mix create an acidic reaction when eaten, and part of the IP chemistry is that it is an alkali diet.

Unfortunately, the wafers and the chocolate dream bar should be treated as restricted items - yes, the carbs "technically" fall into the unrestricted zone, but they are both WAY too high in fat to be considered unrestricted. I actually only use the wafers once or twice a week because of the fat.

I had my first WI today. I weighed myself this morning before I went. According to my scale I'm down 10lbs, I was so excited! Until I got to the clinic and only lost 5lbs on their scale :( I weighed myself again when I got home, fully clothed and discovered my scale is 2lbs lighter than the clinic's scale.

Either way 10lbs is 10lbs and I'm sticking to it!

Dresa, welcome back! Vegas is so much fun. And 2 pounds in 9 days, with one already gone- quite impressive, especially with the amount of AMAZING food out there!

Does it have the carrots in it? I would not worry too much about eating extra veggies unless they are sugary ones. What did you have for your extra? And an extra veggie is much better than bag of chips or a candy bar.

Thanks vet! It didn't have carrots or any other stuff; just baby lettuces and greens. I wasn't sure exactly what was in it, but now that I'm looking at it further- looks like there was some arugula and spinach, so it makes sense! Just had some frozen rhubarb as my other veggie. You're right- better than eating something else!

Congrats on the awesome NSV! I'm so jealous of your awesome upcoming trip- have so much fun! Have you ever been?

Welcome back KM!

A good number of us are back, to reboot. I'm in week 2 and it's going much slower than previously. I just looked up some info an IP'er last year posted re carb counts in vegetables. I need to be careful I don't overeat veggies and be sure I have balance. The protocol lists this for us and so further research is not needed, but I like detail. So this carb list by veggie has proven interesting to me, others might like it, so here it is.
************************************************** **

Another helpful link from the idealcoachingtv site is http://nutritiondata.self.com/ Click on "Foods by Nutrient" then there are several ways you can search. I came up with the following reference for myself (most are 'raw' measurements). Having a digital food scale to weigh by grams would be very helpful for things not easily measured in a "cup":

Asparagus (1c, 134g) 5 carb - 3 fiber = 2 net carbs (3g sugars)
Broccoli (1c, 91g) 6 carb - 2 fiber = 4 net carbs (2g sugars)
Brussel Sprouts (1c, 88g) 8 carb - 3 fiber = 5 net carbs (2g sugars)
Cauliflower (1c, 130g) 6 carb - 2 fiber = 4 net carbs (2g sugars)
Cabbage, green (1c, 89g) 5 carb - 2 fiber = 3 net carbs (3g sugars)
Celery (1c, 100g) 3 carb - 2 fiber = 1 net carb (2g sugars)
Cucumber w/peel (1c, 133g) 3 carb - 1 fiber = 2 net carbs (1g sugars)
Green beans, cooked (1c, 125g) 10 carb - 4 fiber = 6 net carbs (2g sugars)
Kale, fresh (100g) 10 carb - 2 fiber = 8 net carbs (0 sugars)
Mushroom, portabella (100 g) 5 carb - 2 fiber = 3 net carbs (2g sugars)
Mushroom, white (1c, 70g) 2 carb - 1 fiber = 1 net carb (1g sugars)
Onion, raw (1c, 160g) 15 carb - 3 fiber = 12 net carbs (7g sugars)
Red bell pepper (1c, 149g) 9 carb - 3 fiber = 6 net carbs (6g sugars)
Rhubarb (1c, 122g) 6 carb - 2 fiber = 4 net carbs (1g sugars)
Rutabagas (1c, 140g) 11 carb - 4 fiber = 7 net carbs (8g sugars)
Sauerkraut (1c, 142g) 7 carb - 4 fiber = 3 net carbs (3g sugars)
Snowpeas (1c chopped, 100g) 7 carb - 3 fiber = 4 net carbs (4g sugars)
Summer Squash (yellow/zucchini) (1c, 110g) 4 carb - 1 fiber = 3 net carbs (2g sugars)
Turnips (1c, 140g) 8 carb - 2 fiber = 6 net carbs (5g sugars)
V8 juice (note 1/2c, 120g) 5 carb - 1 fiber = 4 net carbs (4g sugars)

Some veggies you may want to focus on this week, they are all natural diuretics and will help "flush out" your system:

Asparagus, watercress, lettuce, bell peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, celery and spinach

Howdy IPeeps - been AWOL lately - things are ramping up....

Did my morning 6.5mile run and I 'revealed' to my running group this morning about my ~80lb weight loss (included my 6lb 'on my own' loss...that took me 4months!). I started with them in late October after I had been maintaining a few months so none of them have ever seen/known me pre-IP. Needless to say I got several shocked reactions, it was complimentary though. Good to know that I passed as "one of them" for so long!

Hi Everyone. I'm on day 8 and have been stalled for 3 days at a 4 pound loss. It's is my first time on IP and I have been following the plan. Any thoughts? I'm not to the point of frustration quite yet but need some advice/encouragement. Is this normal? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Very cool! Probably opened a few eyes and maybe even some hearts!

Protidiet chocolate dream bar
https://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/protein-bars/protidiet-protein-bar-chocolate-dream-7-box.html

Protidiet vanilla wafer bar
https://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/protein-bars/protidiet-protein-wafer-bar-vanilla-7-box.html

Proti thin Sea Salt & Vinegar snacks
https://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/snacks-and-treats/proti-thin-snack-sea-salt-and-vinegar-soy-snacks-7-box.html

Proti thin Chili and Lime Soy snacks
https://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/snacks-and-treats/proti-thin-snack-chili-and-lime-soy-snacks-7-box.html

Proti thin hot chocolate drinks
https://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/hot-drinks/proti-thin-hot-drink-hot-chocolate-7-box.html

In addition I have the Premier Nutrition Chocolate drinks I purchased at Costco. They have 30G protein and 5G carbs

Edited to add: I have been drinking my water in the morning and early afternoon so as to make sure I am close to a restroom during critical times. I read somewhere about drinking half your body weight in oz of water so have been chug chug chugging it down!

I found these that I am going to try out. I like that you can buy individual bags! They are a few grams less protein, but I can just eat an egg white to make up for it easily.

Today is the last day before my 2nd WI. Can hardly wait to see what their scale is going to say compared to mine. This first week OP has been relatively easy with few cravings, minimal hunger , although two nights I did wake up in the middle of the night starving, a couple small, short lived headaches. I do get tired of getting up 3-4 times to pee, tho. I should slow down my water in the evening and pick it up during the day!
Besides eating the required foods, and not eating the No-No foods, I am overcoming the horrible habit of eating while I cook and clean up. Last night was the first time I stuck something in my mouth while cooking. I was so hungry cooking dinner that I hurriedly shoved 2 mouthfuls of -------lettuce in!
Will let you know how the WI goes tomorrow. BTW love this site more everyday, I am so glad I found it.

Gooood morning!!

I work 2nd shift and it's hard to settle in before settling down. I use 3mg Melatonin. It just sort of makes you want to go to sleep. I used to have such a hard time getting to sleep and also tossing and turning. Now I sleep really well, with the exception of getting up to pee. It is found in any vitamin aisle in any store. Check with your Dr to make sure it's ok for you.

Happy today, down 2.5 lbs!! 7 lbs to goal!! On the other side, just found out that I will be losing my job sometime in the next few months....not a happy camper :(

Celebrate your goal and use the energy to find a new and better job!! Best of luck!!!

Hi, Everyone.

Keeping myself busy with some busy-work this morning. I hope now I can focus and get some writing done. Dealing with post-migraine-med flakiness.

I ended up eating an extra snack yesterday. Oh, well. I can just focus on today and be better! I tried to make a LizRR inspired spinach chocolate drink, but ended up killing my blender when the spinach wasn't blending and I tried to push it down with a wooden spoon! Ha ha! What a mess!

Auroragirl, hang on in the wind and hang in there while you are feeling so low on energy. It will get better.

Sneuse, hope the nausea passes soon! I felt prettty awful because transitioning to IP kicked off a mild flare-up of fibromyalgia. I started on a Thursday and spent most of the weekend taking it easy on the couch reading 3FC.

WhytoKay, I also went through that difficult time sleeping, but then moved on to getting sleepy early at night and sleeping better than I had been. Hope it improves for you soon!

Suzali, I majorly stall every month at my TOM. Any chance that can be related for you?

Welcome back to all of those rejoining!

Yes, that is normal. If you are going to weigh yourself daily you need to accept the fact that your weight will go up, down or remain the same for a few days. If you can't deal with that, then just weigh once a week.

Make sure you are drinking all your water and getting your oil everyday also. Sometimes people overlook that and then they experience real stalls and slow losses.

I don't know if it's okay for me to post here. I don't pay for a coach but I am following the IP diet. I just ordered from Bariatricfoodsource as they had a great starter package for $49 plus I ordered a 4-week plan from Diet Direct. I have found all the food so far to be quite good.

Today I had a pudding/shake for breakfast (love them all so far). I just had the vegetarian chili with beans for lunch (okay) and have another pudding/shake with me for a snack a little later on. I can hardly wait to try some of the dinner items. I was using up some NS foods and they are nearly gone now and they were obviously too high in carbs for this plan. I had to use the NS foods up as I can't afford to waste them.

This forum is so helpful! I hope it's okay for me to post here...if not, someone please let me know.

Thanks.

It took 4-6 weeks on IP for my sleep to calm down. I think it is the body adjusting to ketosis

Thanks for the tips everybody. I take all my pills first thing in the morning as I was forgetting to take them at certain meals. But I do recall having started this habit about 2 weeks ago, when my sleepless nights started.. so maybe not taking the calcium at night is affecting me negatively. I'll ask my coach about the melatonin. I've been on IP for going on 7 weeks now.

I'm glad you mentioned how important the oil is, Ragdoll. My first official weigh-in will be tomorrow, and even though I tell myself I'm not going to weigh every day, I just look down every morning and somehow that scale is under me! Anyway, the point is, I'd lost 4 pounds until Sunday, and that's when I started adding in the sea salt and oil (and Omega 3s), and each day since, I've gained .4 pounds even though I've been spot on with the eating. I was tempted to cut out the additions, but you reinforced that they are important and on plan and I will just continue to take them and give this time. I'm usually a fast loser at the outset of any diet, so this isn't as much as I'd hoped for with IP, but your success stories are amazing, so I'm in for the long haul!

Do not take all the pills together. Your body can only absorb so much calcium at a time. Make sure you only take 2 of the cal-mags at a time and take the pottassium-cal seperately from the cal-mags.

Yes Yes Yes,

This time around I am on day 6 and still feel achy and flu like, also had a terrible headache for 2 days, finally gone.

Survived my 55th Birthday Party last night, didn't even taste the beautiful Chocolate cake my dear friend made. Now it should be clear sailing, as in, not so many temptations and over the hump of the first week. Tomorrow will be official first weigh in. I am a slow loser ( just ask Wuv) but at least I lose on this plan :)

So i'm hoping that when I stepped on the scale this morning and found myself up 2 lbs that it's because the tea made me retain water or something! I'm trying to trust the process but I am so used to being stuck right where I am...I just can't wait to see the scale go below 170! I know I'm whining...but it was all so easy for the first 3 weeks! Okay, I'm done! LOL

Rule #1 - DON'T WEIGH MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK - especially if you get emotionally tied to the number. Your weight can fluctuate by a couple of pounds in a single day, or day to day. What matters is the trend week to week. 3 days with no additional loss is NOT a stall. If you lost 4lbs this week you are already way ahead of the game. A stall is when your weight does not change for several WEEKS.

Relax, let the program do what it is supposed to do - and hide the scale! :)

I posted this in the 100% thread but some of you may not look there too. This quote was posted on my company's intranet today and I thought it fitting for our journey:

Good job staying positive :) Think of anything that might be affecting your weight - TOM, stress, illness, changes in your routine, etc. Look over your food journals and make sure there's nothing you're missing. Consider if you've had issues with "C" too - if your guts are slowed down that will slow everything down. Good luck!

Carb-wise they APPEAR unrestricted - but remember that IP is supposed to be low FAT as well. Both the chocolate dream bars and the wafers are WAY more than 30% total calories from fat. It's the same reason why the IP soy nuts are restricted even though the net carbs TECHNICALLY make them appear unrestricted.

Do you know if this is IP approved? I ask only because it contains licorice root and cocoa seed which I'd be nervous has some sugar. I'm probably being overly cautious but thought I'd check to see if your coach OK'ed it so I could feel safe buying some for myself!

I checked a few sites that post the nutritional info - there are 2 calories but no carbs listed. I don't think they can get FDA approval on the label if there are carbs that are not listed. If it's 0 carbs/0 fat/ 0 sugar it is OK according to the IP protocol sheet, no special coach approval needed :)

Happy Tuesday everyone! Welcome to all the newbies, welcome back to all the 2nd-time-arounders, and congratulations on all the lost lbs everyone! You are all amazing! :D

My scale hasn't budged since weigh-in, but that's just fine! I hopped on the wii fit after work, and then did a lil Just Dance workout, and am feeling pretty good about that! Will try to do some again tomorrow, just to keep the blood flowing...

I lost my new bottle of cal-mag, and my clinic is 2 hours away :( Will have to find something to replace it at the pharmacy tomorrow, but don't have much hope - it's a tiny little drug store, carries the bare essentials. But maybe I'll get lucky...

Hi everyone, just woke up from a 2 hour nap. Still have a pounding headache though. I'm sure it's a combo of restarting and the tylenol PM I take at night. And the diueretic I take. Been chugging water like no one's business, salting my food.

Hopefully I can get to sleep tonight as I have class in the AM and start my nursing classes tomorrow night. Don't want to be tired for trach suctioning!! I took a nap because I was tired, but also because I was having some crazy cravings. yesterday I gave in and had several restricted items. Today I have only had one, but I plan on some extra meat and veggies if I need too.

Day 5 of my restart is ending, I hope the weight starts to come off. I've been upset at how fast and how much came back (thought I won't post the actual number). I just want to get back into ketosis and start feeling better. The first time around I think it took me a weekish :-/

I knew if I stayed on here too long with all you sick people, I'd catch something. I hope you are happy.....I got sick and now spending today and probably tomorrow sleeping on the couch....LOL Looks like not much progress this week because I can't get my veggies in. Have a good Tuesday... :D

It's everywhere A1! I broke down and got tamiflu, cause 4 days into I only feel worse...how you bounce back fast.:headache:

I'm convinced, no weighing everyday! I think that will be harder for me than being on the plan....

Due to my schedule I had to set up my first weeks weigh in for my 4th day on the diet. I've lost 5lbs! I know some of it is water weight but according to the biometric analysis, 3 lbs of it was fat. Yay!

thats great

Hi Everyone. I'm on day 8 and have been stalled for 3 days at a 4 pound loss. It's is my first time on IP and I have been following the plan. Any thoughts? I'm not to the point of frustration quite yet but need some advice/encouragement. Is this normal? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

You are doing fine, not stalled technically. Give it time. Trust the diet, it does work .

Love hearing about the 2 mouthfuls of lettuce! That's fabulous!

Sorry to hear you're ill, this particular flu seems extraordinarily virulent. Drink plenty of fluids, lots of rest and don't spread it!

Thanks! I figured it was fine, but since I'm a slow loser (average last time I did the program was only about 1.5-2 lbs a week) I'm always trying to be as careful as can be.

Why would you consider 1.5-2 lbs/week slow???
That is incredible!

Remember - - - -it's not just about the pounds - - - it's about the inches. If you didn't lose pounds, you probably still changed in inches.

We didn't get fat overnight - we aren't going to get skinny overnight either.;)

OH POO POO. I came home this afternoon feeling like a train ran me over, sore throat and so sore all over, I have been blaming the program, but I guess I am coming down with something. Tomorrow is weigh-in number one and the scale doesn't appeared to have moved much, we shall see. I just soaked in a super-hot bath with Epsom Salts.

congrats to all the big losers today, you are looking fantastic!

I think that is definitely a good possibility. It seems to be everywhere... so far so good at our house but I keep washing my hands so often my skin is breaking down.

Hello there, IPers! I spent about a month here regularly during the summer when I first started the program. I've been hard at work despite moving on from the forums. It has been six months and I am down 125lbs so far!

I decided to reach out some ,ore to get a better support system because I'm dealing with new challenges. I am 1 pound away from the lowest weight I can ever remember being. It is weird and for some reason these last 70ish pounds I have to go are scary because they are "uncharted territory."

Anyway, I have been pretty successful with IP and would like to share my knowledge if you don't mind helping me through these current challenges!

SoSo You look amazing!! Well done!!!
Unwaver1ng I know what you mean about the wgt loss. I will soon be smaller than I have been in over 20yrs. As much as I am looking forward to cute Spring and Summer clothes, I am scared as well. It takes some getting used to, but we will win over our weight!!! (((Hugs)))

So some friends of ours came over for dinner tonight. I made Moroccan Meatballs (via Rachael Ray). Since I used bread crumbs, ground lamb, and tomato paste, I decided to make a separate batch for myself.

I had ground turkey, 1/2 cup pureed cauliflower, a bit of my pepper mix salsa and some of the spice blend in the recipe. Mixed it up for my meatballs. OMG so amazing!!! (Just gotta remember how I did it.)

I used this recipe for the blend because I could not find Ras el hanout at my grocery store. I want to put this on everything now:

1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon ground coriander
1 tablespoon turmeric
1 tablespoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons freshly grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

Oh and everyone loved the regular version!! I made a double batch and it's almost gone.
