This post is going to take over the ApRiL WaLkErS! Anyone who wants to join is welcome to post with us here! We post how much we walk each day and some of us post the mileage that we want to beat for the months! If this sounds like you go ahead and join us! Whoohoo!

Kristi, homemade pasta? Yum, sounds good. That's very ambitious, I've never tried to make my own (too lazy) . I'm a convenience kind of gal, out of the box or can and into the microwave kind of chef I am :lol: .

Lynne how's the new hairdo? Can we see it? I like getting my hair done, it makes me feel like a new person.

My goal for May will be 85 miles. I had no idea how far I could walk in a month and my goal in April was just 65 miles. Now that I know I did well over 80, I'm reaching a little higher this time around. I think I'll need a new pair of shoes in the next month or so. As far as finding the time to walk? Always right after work on the weekdays and first thing in the morning on weekends. I am very lucky to have my parents watching over my son for an hour or so while I exercise. (Thanks mom and dad) . Let's get walking everyone!

Oooo Kristi homemade pasta! Sounds delicious! I wish I had time to cook from scratch. Using a bread machine is as close as it gets. My son bought me a bread machine for christmas a couple of years ago, oh they make the best bread and it is so easy. You throw the mix in with water, close the lid, start it and 3 hours later you have the best bread. Of course I don't use it as often as I would like.

Lynne, I need a new do. But I can't get my hair cut yet, even though it is driving me crazy. :dizzy: My daughter and I are growing our hair out and then we will cut it and donate it to Locks of Love. They make wigs for cancer patients. They will only take it if it is at least 10 inches long, no shorter. I need a couple more inches for that and to have some left on my head! :lol: Of course I may have to let it grow a bit longer. I am kind of liking long hair again.

Jen, glad you decided to join us! WELCOME!! :balloons:

Jenifer, you're getting faster and I'm slowing down. :lol: :lol:

Okay, I have my goals for this month worked out. I am setting my goal for 60 miles for May. That's just 15 more, and I think I will end up doing more. I just don't want to set it too high and then not be able to do it. So I'm going low and hoping to go over. I amazed myself by doing 45 for April, never imagined I could walk that much.

I did a 2.5 mile walk today, plus 12 mns. pilates and a 15 mn. bike ride. Let me tell ya the Pilates did me in. Whooooaaaa!:eek: I wasn't able to finish that because it was HURTING! The whole workout is only about 20 mns. long and I do not know how Denise Austin does it! Of course this was my first time and I know in time I will be able to do the whole tape without feeling the pain, hopefully!!

I haven't read much of your last thread, but I must say homemade pasta sounds so good right now!!!:T Like Cristi, I have a bread maker. Love the homemade, just baked bread smell but I don't seem to use it as much as I should!

Got in a total of 3.6 miles today.....I'm on my way!!!!

Just reporting in with my mileage for the 1st day of May--nothing new, regular route of 3.5 miles. Some days that route is a cake walk, other days my shin splints act up and I move like a turtle, luckily I've had more "cake" days than "turtle" days.

Mmmmm, I love fresh bread. We have a bread machine and I like the convenience of it, my favorite has got to be the english muffin bread, nice and chewy texture. I like my food to have substance! Of course, my new favorite is just going to Costco and buying that 2 pack loaf of sourdough-garlic, the cloves are roasted right in the dough. It's fresh out of the oven and still hot when it's packaged--so delicious! Ok, enough drooling about bread :lol: .

Cristi you have got to show us a picture of your long locks BEFORE you donate it, OK? I've had a short do for over 7 years, then when I started this weight loss effort I didn't cut my hair for over 6 months, I like my long hair now--makes me feel young again.

Go Jen Go! :dancer: I see you took Gennel up on her 4 week challenge too huh? That's great! That thread is a real help too. I'm still debating whether or not I'm signing on for this month, I need to sit on it overnight.

Go Jenifer Go! :dancer: It get's easier the more you do it right?

Hi all.

Yes, I'm a day ahead of you, so I'm now heading into Saturday....

I went for my walk today. I went the opposite direction, which for some wierd reason felt easier. Amazing how you can trick you mind!

I won't have time to respond to you all today, as it's getting late and I'm about to watch a movie. Halloween 2000. I remember seeing Halloween the first when I was a young teenager at a slumber party. I still can't figure out why my friend's parents let us watch it! I remember having to try going to sleep in their lounge near large french windows!!!! Think I'll cope better this time round! ha ha

Wow everyone is walking!n Whoohoo! Guess what??? :( The rain has returned to California! Ughhh! I am not going to get my walking in tonight b/c I'm going to a dinner at my friends church. The proceeds go to the youth group for summer camp. I have Wi tomorrow and just a little nervous! I will post more and hopefully the weather will get better! Sorry So Short I have to run! Chow! :) :)

I didn't manage to get my walk in today, bummer! :( I got my bike ride and that's it. The time got away from me, before I knew it I just ran out of time. I have got to get organized again. I will have to work harder this weekend to make up for today.

Noelle, I too had short hair, for about the last 12 years and I am not sure at what point I decided I would let it grow. Just got tired of trying to find someone who could do a decent cut and style. I let my daughter trim it for me a few days ago other than that I haven't had it cut in 1 1/2 years. Your hair is beautiful!! I can't tell from your picture, but it looks a lot longer than mine, definitely A LOT prettier. And I will be sure and get a photo posted before I get it chopped off. I want to use a photo for my avatar but not yet. I don't have one that I really like and would like to share with everyone. Unless I use one from about 5 years ago! :lol: Yours and Jenifers is nice, very nice. You ladies look very slim.

Lynne, hope you enjoyed the movie. I had seen all the Halloween movies. Not sure why but I love those kind of movies. I haven't seen a really scary movie out in a while.

Hey everybody!!!

Bummer about the rain Jenifer. it's been pretty nice here. I've been walking in the evening so it's not so hot out. was able to get in a 3.2 mile walk today, which was good, but I'm going to try for a further one tomorrow. I have a zumba fitness class tomorrow morning (latin dance aerobics) and I'm getting a bit nervous, so if anyone here works out at a gym or takes any kind of classes, if you could help ease my nerves I would appreciate it.:^:

Hey everyone. Just got back from seeing the new X-2 movie (Xmen). Cool flick and funky effects. I got my regular route in of 3.5 miles and my hubby and son came along so it was an enjoyable one.

Jen don't worry about the exercise class--I give you a lot of credit for joining one in the first place. At least you'll be there doing something good for your body. Good luck and let us know how you like it.

Cristi thanks for the compliments about my hair (I'm blushing) . Actually I got it cut a little differently 2 weeks ago. The avatar pic shows it all at one length, now I've got some chunky/funky layers and some highlights put in. I'm still getting used to it but it makes me feel a lot more modern and fresh.

Jenifer here's wishing you sun and blue skies for tomorrow. :flow2:

Lynne I know what you mean about the walking route feeling different in reverse. I do the exact same thing on weekends and it just feels easier for some reason :shrug: . I don't get it either.

Kristi, hope you can find us OK. How'd your day go?

Hi! First off I lost 1.6 today at Weigh In! YA! :cb: I am very much happy with the WW program. I don't feel like I am not eating. It's wonderful!

The rain is here again so I may do WATP later tonight. You all are doing great on your walking! I think hubby and I will go see a movie today.

hi everyone...
i'm new here! i just started on ww in march. so far i'm doing pretty well with it. now that the weather is turning out so nice, i started walking outside. today i did an hour... about 3 or so miles. it felt so nice to be outside and walking. i almost went around the lake again! that's it for me though... i can't wait to get to know you all better.

:eek: Peek a boo I see you, great job at weigh in Jenifer :cb: :cb: Be proud girl. I too love long hair, but I have this weird thing I do. Whenever I'm in a " funk "( eating way wrong and no exercising ) as I gain weight I also cut my hair shorter and shorter. It's like I'm punishing myself or something. Needless to say with the 15# gain I've recently had, my hair is very short :( yes, my pasta was delicious, but the whole wheat pita bread I attempted today was not so good :dizzy: A little problem between the raising process and the transfer to the pan. It ended up like thick w.w. crackers. Still good, but I won't be stuffing it any time soon:mad: Welcome to all of you who are even newer than me. Glad you're here. Hope we can help:cool: My goals are more modest than you alls, but I want to ease back into it. I want to do this for life and stop these gain backs. Not just long enough to lose:dance:
Oh, I too love church food. We're having our mother daughter banquet next Sat. night. For once I'm not focused on the food. My 9 yr. old daughter is part of the entertainment. She's singing a solo. She is very talented and has all the confidence it took me until I was 30 to find:cp: :bravo:

Good Evening everyone!!!

Hope you all had an awesome Saturday. Here in Colorado, it was beautiful. A little humid but that's okay. Today I was able to walk 4.2 miles, but now my feet hurt, and I have 2 new blisters. :( I had gotten some new walking shoes, but they aren't very good, so I think it's back to my old ones until I can get some more.

Jenifer: Congrats on your loss!!! I also checked out your website, it's pretty cool so far. Can't wait to see it when It's completely finished with pictures and everything.

kcatanza: I'm new to this thread too, but everybody is awesome. You'll love it here.

lovnmom; Good Luck :lucky: to your daughter at her solo performance. I always auditioned in the choir but was never good enough for the solos. You must be very proud!!!

Noelle: Thanks for the encouragement about the class, but I totally chickened out. But I am definately going next Saturday. I am however starting a kickboxing class Monday Night.

I got a 3 mile walk in today and a 20 mn. bike ride. I figured I better do more than 2 miles since I missed Friday. Also, got my 4 bottles of water drank. Now I just need to work on my eating habits.

Glad to see you found us Kristi aka Lovnmom. You had me going when I read your post I had to go back to April Walkers to see who you are! :lol: Hope you and your daughter have a spectacular time on Mother's Day!

Good evening all!

I didn't get to post yesterday, partly cos it got too late, and partly cos I didn't get to do my walk.

However, got out today, not as long as I wanted, but it all counts! Tomorrow I'm heading off on a big one, and then will probably get another 2 big ones in during the week with a friend of mine.

Jenifer, WOOHOO for your loss! Are you far from goal?

I get the impression that a few of you are either at goal, or very close to it - where are you at if you don't mind me asking? I'm only just starting mine, as you know, but I've been on the whole weight loss band wagon for the last 12 years. Up until the age of 18 I didn't have any problems with weight, and had a very nice bod. However, after leaving school (17) and moving into the nightclubbing scene, lack of regular exercise (such as walking or riding my bike to school), and I piled on the kilos. Over the years it went from gaining 15 kilos, to, by the time I was pregnant with Bec, being 40 kilos over!!! Scary how quickly it piles on.

I feel different this time round, am more aware of what my limits are, and finally come to terms with the fact that this will never go away, but is a lifelong condition. I also had to stop feeling guilty for having a slow metabolism - society and my mum have a lot to answer for!!!

Anyway, enough of that, I'm off to sleep!

I really have to get back in the swing of things. I was so bad when I was having all the problems with my back and now that I am much better I still have not gotten on my treadmill. I was gone for 5 days on a trip to Montrčal and did pretty good while there but since coming home I have had some pretty bad cravings. I have given in to some of them I am ashamed to say. :ink:
Today I am thinking of going with DH and the boys to a car show and I can get in some walking there. I am still not sure if I really want to go. It will be held right at the shores of Lake Ontario and the water is still real cold so it will be really chilly and breezy there.
I have also not set a goal for this month and have lost some motivation. My weight loss has been going up and down as well. Granted I have not really gained any back but I just keep going up and down with the same 2 lbs. Maybe tomorrow I can start to get things back on track. I need to start putting me first again and I have been busy with the boys needing this and that and now DH bought a new (used) show car and it is fallen on me to get it on the road, appraised and insured. I am now back in the # 3 or 4 position and I really need to get back into that #1 position. KWIM Summer is just around the corner and I would really like to loose a few more lbs before I pull out the shorts and swim suit.
Well, that is enough rambling. It did feel good to get it all out. Maybe this is what I needed to get back on track. Thanks for listening.

I managed to get in a 1 mile walk this morning, early! I am going to try and get in another mile, depending on if we go to the lake or not. The wind is HORRIBLE! and I hate getting out in it. It looked like it was going to rain but I guess the WIND blew the rain elsewhere! :lol:

Lynne, I am far from my goal. My all time high was 220 lbs., when I started WW I was at 210 lbs. I just started again this past March. I say started again because last August I was going to WW and while I lost some weight I didn't make goal before I had to quit attending the meetings. It was getting kind of costly with both me and my hubby going and then our schedules got kind of crazy. So, I am bascially restarting the program but doing it at home. It's frustrating though because I am walking like crazy, drinking the water and for the most part staying within my points but not losing much at all. I weigh in on Monday's. But as far as my goal I have a ways to go. It has been a long slow journey, but I will never give up, not even whn I eventually make goal.

WNYmom, a big WELCOME to you! :balloons: Glad to have you aboard. Don't be so hard on yourself about the cravings. We ALL go through it now and again. For me personally it's better to give in and have a little, than try to avoid it for fear of a major binge and that is something I don't want. I know where you are coming from about putting everyone before you. I have done that for so long and now it's time for me. Of course my kids are a little older and can do for themselves so that makes it easier, SOMETIMES! They still act like they are helpless at times though, and I am the slave woman. :lol: I think I am the old lady of the bunch. :lol:

Okay, that's about all I have for now ladies. Noelle, Jenifer, Kristi, Jen, hope you ladies are having a GREAT day! I hope I didn't miss anyone. Hubby will be home in about 30 minutes to go to the lake, may have to change our plans though. We'll see. Later...

No walk for me yesterday (Saturday) since I had a b-day party to attend in the afternoon. But I got out bright and early this morning and put in a good 3.5 miles. Feeling pretty good.

Wow, this thread is growing and that's great!

Janine glad you found us. I go through periods of time where I just lose focus and kinda just bob along, wondering if the effort of watching what you eat and exercising and worth it (usually it's a PMS week :lol: ) . I try to just stick to visiting this site and reading about other peoples' struggles and victories--something will "click" again and I get back on the wagon. It happens to all of us at some point or another. Just look at the bigger picture of a healthier you for yourself and your family.

Welcome to kcatanza too :wave: . Glad to have your aboard.

Lynne I know what you mean about this time around being different. I feel like this will be the last time I will have to do this. This time my weight loss is slower but I'm enjoying myself more, I'm more confident in my skin. I guess age is a positive factor. My current goal weight is 150, which I may re-evaluate when I get closer since I'm only 5'3" and the recommended weight range is anywhere from 115-145. Ideally I would like to reach 130 but I'm not fixing that as a hard and fast number of perfection for myself.

Cristi good job on getting that mile in this morning. And AGE is relative, it's about attitude, not a number. No one's an old lady unless they want to be :lol: .

Jenifer awesome job on your loss--you go girl! I'll have to check out your website after I get done here.

Jen that's ok on your Zumba class, maybe next week will be better. Kickboxing on Monday though huh? You're awesome! I'm too chicken to sign up for anything :lol: --I don't know why though, because I WALK in public everyday :shrug: . You're doing it for you though and that's wonderful.

wow... thanks to everyone for the welcome! i feel like i belong already... and this is only my second post! :o thanks everyone... hopefully you'll all keep me inspired to walk.

today, i went around the same lake as i did yesterday. a whole 3 miles... give or take a little bit. it was great. i hope the weather keeps up so that i am able to keep up with this pace.

:?: i have a question... with the walking videos... does that also count as walking? cause that's what i'll be using during those miserable rainy days.

anyway, thanks for the welcome again... you're all an inspiration! keep up the great work :)

oh... and you can all address me as kristen, rather than kcatanza. it just sounds better. :lol:

I wasn't able to get out and walk today, :( I kept putting it off and putting it off and by the time I thought I would be able to go, there just wasn't enough time. I was going to go out after I got the kids in bed, but I'm such a :chicken: about walking around in the dark. I totally :ink: out at dinner so I'm going to have to kick some major Butt tomorrow. I do start the kickboxing class tomorrow night, I paid for this one so I have to go. No sense in spending money for nothing.

HI guys!

I got my LONG walk in today - 3 1/2 kms!!! And I did it in 35 minutes! :dance:

I had to go and buy new sneakers today cos I wore a hole in the others! hee hee

Janine, I agree, it's so important to remember to keep yourself at the top of the list. I have the same problem, with a 6 year old and 2 1/2 month old. Luckily I have a husband who makes the effort to push me out the door so I do take the time for myself! He's a gem!! :love:

Cristi, I'm doing WW from home too. I was a member for a while, but couldn't afford it either. But I've got all the books and the knowhow, so am following the concept and coming on here for support and my weekly "weigh in". Well done for getting those extra miles in!

Hi Kristen. In my opinion, anything that brings up the heart rate and sweat should count! :D Good on ya for the big walk around the lake! Wish we had something so nice to walk around. Today I had to wangle my way through road works! Such fun with all the workman lounging around watching me huff and puff my way over all the dirt mounds! :rolleyes:

Jen, I'm lucky that where we are, there are some main roads that are really well lit, so if I do have to go late (which yes, happens quite often!) then I can. I couldn't do that at our last house.

Well I finally made it here to post. I got my walk in on Sunday after mowing my huge backyard for the first time. :dizzy: My dh and I moved in on Halloween and he has always mowed it, now I know why! :lol:
Lynne~ I am pretty far from goal. 30-40 pounds needed to lose I just joined WW on April 13th! So in almost a month I have lose 11.2 total so far! ;)

Kristen~ I'm really glad you joined us! It sounds really beautiful where you live. A lake? Wow! :cool:

Noelle~ You keep me going. I could do my 2 miles route twice, but I have been lazy. I want to try to push myself to do that this week. :^: Try and kick my butt in gear for me. :lol: :lol: Your doing awesome!

Jen I think a kickboxing class is a great choice. Good move paying up front too by the way! I did tae-bo a lot last summer. It's one of those exercises you can really tell when your improving. It's such a high. ( It was for me anyway, because I was sooooo terrible at it in the beginning ) This the one thing I hate about being rural. We have weight lifting places within 4 miles of me, but no place that actually offers classes. If you have to drive 40 min. to get there it just doesn't happen very often. Lynne, To answer your question of where I am on this journey. In March 2000 I weighed 185#. At 5'2" every chart in the world screamed OBESE at me. Like it wouldn't hurt my feelings.!? I started by getting a food mover to help me keep track of what I was eating. Dropped my self to 1800 cals. and very low fat with moderate exercise. I dropped 40# in about 6 mths. Putting me at 140 in Sept. 2000. I stayed at or near that weight for 2 yrs. (135-145#) In Sept. 2002 I had a lot of things go crazy in my personal life and instead of turning to healthy foods and exercise to deal with the stress I went right back to eating all the wrong stuff and way too much of it. I quit exercising totally. Until I walked 3 weeks ago I hadn't done anything physical since last Sept. This behavior helps me to hide my true feelings. Even those who are closest to me never get it. Thankfully, I'm back. Sharing my true feelings and taking care of myself. With 4 children under the age of 10 it can be hard to do that. To shorten this up( I didn't mean to get so carried away.) I have been within 10# of my goal, but am once again 30# away. It's a lifetime of behavior modification for me that really has very little to do with how I look physically, but rather to do with how I feel emotionally. The struggle is really worth it though. I have a great life. 4 beautiful kids,a wonderful husband who's always loved me and found me attractive no matter my size, a higher power who cares for me, and a great sister.
I wish you much luck on your journey and may we always do this for our health and not because we care what others think of our appearance.

hey everyone. happy cinco de mayo!

as far as the leslie sansone tapes... i have walk the walk. and she seems very bubbly. are all her tapes like that? i was thinking of getting watp. but i wasn't sure if there is a major difference between them. is watp more challenging than walk the walk, cause as i remember it comes with weights and a belt or something? i just want to be able to change it up. boredom can kill me!

I managed to get in a 40 minute workout on the treadmill today. Felt pretty good! :cb: I have also drank almost 60 oz of water and it is just past 2:30PM :cp: I am now working on supper! Roast chicken, roasted tomatoes with garlic, thyme and basil along with roasted baby red potatoes. I have the tomatoes done, potatoes in the oven and I just have to get the chicken ready and put in in the ShowTime cooker!

Wow, you ladies have been busy bees today! Hope everyone had and is having a GREAT Cinco de Mayo!! I was too busy today to check in this morning. I did manage a 2.5 mile walk and a 20 mn. bike ride. I have to get that bike ride in there too! I really enjoy riding it. Drank 5 bottles of water, ick! And stayed in my point range, so overall it was a good day. :smile:

Kristi, WTG on watching your cals. I know how hard it is when you have functions to attend trying to resist all the goodies. :lol: And I have to agree with you about doing this for your health and not because of what others think. I don't care what others think about my body, it's whats inside that counts. I am doing this for three reasons; 1) For my health. I don't have any problems and I want it to stay that way 2) To be comfortable, comfortable in that when I bend down to tie my shoes, my big fat stomach doesn't get in the way and 3) Because I want to look good for ME.

Lynne, that seems to be going around, I too had to go get new sneakers. :lol: WTG on your long walk! :bravo:

Jenifer, hey, you should be counting mowing the lawn as a walk also, that is if you were using a push mower. :lol: It definitely is a workout and can add up, do you have a pedometer?

Kristen, I have heard so much talk about Leslie Sansone's tapes and I must say I am very curious about them. I defintinely will have to check them out. When you do the tape do you count it as a walk? Sorry to sound like a dummy, I just have heard about Leslie Sansone on this site and I see a lot of ladies do it, so I have no clue what it exactly is.

Noelle, you are so right about age being relative, and being just a number. I actually think I look my age but people are suprised when they find out how old I am. I guess they think I was like 12 when I started having kids! :lol:

Oh my :hot: I just got back from my walk. Instead of just 2 Miles I walked it twice so I walked 4 Miles in 40 Minutes. Is that a good time? I mean I feel like I got a workout! :)
Cristi~ How was your weigh in? it was today right?? I don't have one of those pedometers are they cool? How much are they?
kristen~ I like the WATP tapes, but I have to admit I love walking outside. I have the basic One and Two Mile tape (well on DVD) and I bought some 2 pound weights at Wal*Mart to use when she uses the ball. I bought the DVD at Best Buy.

Hi all!!!

How was everybody's day? Mine was okay, abit busy and boring. It took me 2 hours to clean my sons room. I swear he is the poster child for the world of the "Pack Rat". He had gum wrappers and rocks, not interesting rocks, just plain old river rocks, the kind people put in their yard. Not to mention popcorn kernals ground into the floor under his bed. I got 3 yard bags of trash out of there. He had stuff hidden EVERYWHERE!!!!! Went to the kickboxing class, it was okay. I think I was still a bit intimidated, so maybe when I go back on Wednesday, it will be a little more familiar, and not as bad. But I already paid so I have to go. I also got in a 2 mile walk tonight with my kids. We got caught in the rain otherwise I would have gone farther. Oh well. There's always tomorrow.

Janine: Your dinner sounded so good, it got my mouth watering:dizzy:

GO JENIFER: a 10 minute mile? YOU GO GIRL!!!!! I wish I could do that.

Hi everyone. I hope I can join your group also as I really need the motivation to start my walking program again. Of course, here in the South right now we have have lots and lots of rain and thunderstorms and they are suppose to last the whole week and I am not thin enough to walk between the drops and probably never will be, but at least I am finally on the right track.
I started the South Beach Diet several weeks ago and so far this seems to be doing it for me. This is the first low-carb diet I have ever tried and have always been doing low-fat and this is completely different.
Anyway my goal in walking for the month is 60 miles.
I am so glad to find this group as it seems to help to keep one motivated when others are doing the same thing you are.
I love making bread in my machine, but on SBD bread is very limited and so far I haven't found any recipes I can use in it.

Hi all

Firstly, is everyone ok after those horrible tornados? We saw on the news that it has totally wiped out heaps of homes and killed lots of people. Horrible stuff! We're so lucky that we don't have anything like that here.

I went for a walk today for 1 HOUR and 10 minutes!!! I was BUGGERED! :lol: I went with some mums from the school, and we walked to a racecourse, and then around it. Mind you, can't walk very well now, but it's good every now and then! Will be doing it every Tuesday and Thurs.

Someone, I think it was Cristi?, talked about why she is into her weight loss. Would you believe it took me over 10 years to finally come to terms with the fact that having a slow metabolism IS NOT MY FAULT, and that I should stop feeling guilty and think I'm a horrible person because I can't lead the same type of lifestyle as others do. When I finally came to terms with this, it was like a huge burden was taken off my shoulders. I could finally enjoy myself again, and say, I'm a great person no matter what size, but I'm not happy with this size, so what can I do about it?
What this means is if I have a "bad" day, where I don't make the best choices, I don't beat myself up about it and revert to "old ways". I just accept that I'm human, it's hard to change a lifetime of habits, and I've just got to pick up and keep going. Also realise that by having a "bad" day means that it will just take a bit longer to get to goal.

Anyway, enough of that! :rolleyes: I just think it's so important that people with weight problems need to stop suffering so much guilt for a condition that is not theirs to control. I was saying to Marc (hubby) that food addiction is the worst, because you can't abstain from food. You need food to live. It's not like alcohol or ciggies, where you can just quit cold turkey and avoid being around them. Food is a neccessity and a luxury, an essential part of our lives. So we can't avoid it, and we have to have it around us, and in us every day!!! So anyone who has overcome, or is attempting to overcome, food addiction, is the strongest bravest person around!!!

*phew* I'm exhausted! :lol: gotta go!

I didn't have the time to post last night but I did get my regular walk in of 3.5 miles + a little time on weights. Now I have aches in different places on my body.

Welcome Caci! 60 miles in a month is doable. Do you walk outside or indoors on a treadmill of some sort? Sorry to hear about your bad weather, we've just gotten over a bit of that ourselves here in Hawaii. Now it's just plain hot and humid--87 degrees yesterday, w/no breeze to speak of.

Lynne, great job on your walk! Twice a week at that intensity should do a lot to boost your metabolism. I've found that if you eat smaller, more frequent meals/snacks throughout the day your metabolism will get faster because your body will know it's getting more fuel, more frequently. It works for me. I try to eat 6 times a day (i.e. breakfast/snack/lunch/snack/dinner/snack) . In any case, accepting your body no matter what size/shape is what we all should do. We are all a work in progress and we should love ourselves through thick and thin :D.

Jenifer you are absolutely blazing on your walks! Awesome.

Cristi I have a WATP 2 miles tape--still in the shrink wrap. I've never tried it out because my I don't exactly have the space in my living room or bedroom to do it...I'm thinking of selling it on ebay. Anyone interested? :lol: We have such great weather here for most of the year that I don't really like to stay indoors anyway. Hubby finally got the home gym set up this weekend and I tried out the butterfly press thing--my shoulders and pecs(?) are really speaking to me today. *ouch!!*

Kristi, I'm a short one like you, only 5'3" so I'll be happy to see the day when my BMI and weight chart reflect 'overweight' and not obese :lol: . Short term goal of course, but I would like to eventually reach the normal range.

Janine, Great job on the treadmill. I tried one for the first time today. It was inclined and I now know why people refer to them as dreadmills. I plan to continue to use it at least once a week. The workout was great. Uphill like that. And too, I feel I'll appreciate my other types of exercise much more keeping the treadmill in my life.

Cristi, Great workout once again! I love your three reasons for doing this. #2 made me lol. I really enjoy the WATP tapes. I truly love to walk outdoors. I have great bike trails running past my house plus we own land that connects to corn, and hay fields, and hunting grounds. You have to walk almost straight up a dug way ( dirt road cut out of the bluff ) but once your on top beautiful trails left from logging done some 15-20 yrs. ago. They wind through woods and fields. Great for seeing wildlife and just breathing, but being WI the weather is only favorable for this about 5 mths. out of the year. The rest of the year it's either brr really cold with snow and ice or it's so humid with loads of mosquitoes. I still walk with the hot and the bugs, but not the rain or cold. So I use Leslie's tapes a lot. I have the 1, 2, and 3 mile tapes. The intensity of the walk is increased by using 2# weights in segments. She has you doing dumbell curls, overhead presses, lateral raises, etc... while walking. There great if you like to sweat without feeling as if you're punishing yourself. I definitely count the miles.

Jenifer, 4 miles in 40 min!?!?! That's great time. I power walked DAILY 3-8 miles for 4 mths. last spring and summer and never did better than 12 min. a mile. You go girl.

I think maybe I should alert the media :lol:

I like my treadmill! I use a program that controls the treadmill. I can do a 40 minute workout and burn about 225 cal. The program will change the speed and incline through out the workout. I only go a max of 4% incline and a max of 3MPH. I have the treadmill right in the livingroom, hooked up to the computer via the audio output. I create a program then watch TV and let the program control the treadmill. Before I know it I have done a 40 minute workout! Granted when I first got the treadmill I was only doing 15 minutes and about every 2 weeks after I would increase till I got to 30 minutes. I stayed there for a bit then started moving up to 35 and now I am at 40 minutes.

Hey girls!!!!

I hope everybody had a good day today!! I was able to take my butt out for a 3 mile walk today. I had to force myself though. My legs are pretty pissed off at me right now for some reason. They didn't complain yesterday. They better just get over it though because I set my sights on a new trail and we're going the whole way. I totally don't feel like doing anything. I kept waiting for those little endorphins to kick in which usually happens within the forst 1/2 mile, but not today. I got a quick burst between the first mile and a half and then it was gone in about 10 minutes, and I had to trudge the entire way home thinking "why did I go so far?" I'm going to make sure tomorrow is a better day though. Maybe it's because I cheated late last night. :chin:

Plus, variety is the spice of life. If I do different things all the time then I find I don't get so bored with the same routine.

Janine, I too am a treadmill walker. I had bought it mainly to use for when the weather is bad because my hubby and I were walking outdoors until our schedules got kind of goofy. :dizzy: I don't really care to walk by myself so I have mainly been using the treadmill. Mine too is in the living room in front of the tv! :lol: Actually it's tucked inside the entry way pointed right in front of the tv. If I am watching tv or listening to one of the music stations, MTV, CMT or one of the others it keeps my mind off the dreaded walk and the time goes faster.

Jen, you are doing a good job with your walking. :bravo:WTG!

Hey everyone, got in my regular route of 3.5 miles. There was a steady drizzle for most of the way so I had to carry my umbrella--it was kind of fun actually, made me feel like a little kid again. I've also been walking my son to school in the mornings which isn't much, maybe all of 5-7 minutes one way, but still, it's walking right? I don't count that mileage but it's just a little extra insurance of burning some calories. Speaking of which my eating has been a little wacky. I ate a Big n Tasty (nasty) burger from McD's and I don't know why--haven't eaten fast food like that for ages! I was feeling like I wanted to cheat and I did...:shrug: It wasn't even that good either. I need to get my motivation back and quick--otherwise the scale will start going in the wrong direction. The only positive thing is that I've been keeping up w/my exercise. Now to get a handle on my food choices.

Cristi, yes I'm serious about the tape. I'll PM you or you can PM me and if you want it, it's yours.

Well it's getting late and I need to get to bed. Hope everyone had a good day. I'll work on my motivation to stay on track as tomorrow is another day. Never give up!!!

Food was better today. Had a light day, with very few carbohydrates.

I did HEAPS of gardening, as we're having really nice weather here at the moment. So although I didn't get my walk in, I certainly believe I earned some points! The front garden is now starting to take shape. We managed to score some boulders and rocks from a house being demolished across the road. Beautiful red rock from the country. So I arranged them in a garden bed that's in front of the front door, and then planted some lovely flowering ground cover around them. Gave the whole area a huge face lift. Gonna get stuck into it again tomorrow. It's just what I need at the moment to get rid of the blues, and stop thinking about food!

Weigh in tomorrow, but I have to be honest with myself and say that the week hasn't been the best, so I won't be surprised if I don't see a loss. Also, fat converting to muscle, so weight loss might not show for a little while anyway.

Noelle, I'm the same about food. I find if I don't eat regularly throughout the day, I tend to overeat when it comes to main meal time. I also have a rule that I don't eat after 8pm, as the body can't process the food as well when you're in bed. I'm so impressed with your level of exercise. It's good to be around such motivated people!

Jen, I know what you mean about the walking and your legs not being impressed. I felt that way after yesterday's long walk. Which is why I was quite happy to work in the garden and give myself a rest, but still workout in a different way. I'm off for another big one tomorrow, and feel more ready to do it!

When I decided to use it yesterday it was a spur of the momenttype of thing. I had NO music, No tv, and the clock was right in front of my face. My next date with the tm I am planning before hand so the lay out and experience can be much more enjoyable:D

Cristi, WTG it can be really hard to get the things you have to done when sleep deprived. Great job of making exercise a prioritie. How many oz. are your water bottles? I drink at least 64 oz. a day and some days up to 100+. I find it easy to get my water in, because everything has so many calories in it. I'd much rather eat 2 pieces of fruit than drink 8oz. of juice os eat an oz. of cheese than drink a glass of milk. etc....:)

Noelle, Well, now you know. The McD sand. didn't taste so great anyway. Try to keep that in mind the next time that red hair freak invites you to his place:lol: :lol: You walk sooooo much I'm sure ONE burger will do no damage. Keep smiling:)

Lynne, I so know what you mean about gardening! Planting my veg. garden is one of my most loved pleasures. Here in WI we're just comong out of a long winter of nothing but snow,cold, and ice. Playing in the warm earth planting the seeds and tiny plants so feels like a new beginning. It's so therapeutic. I bet your flower garden will be beautiful when you're done. Good luck on your weigh in.

As for me, I was able to do another 1.5 miles last night. The weather was gorgeous for the first time in 3 or 4 days. Me and the kids hit the bike trail. The 3 oldest on their bikes and me pulling the 3 yr. old in the wagon. Actually, I pulled an empty wagon 1/2 the way. My little guy loves to run, but when keeping up with his brother and sisters he finally gave in and rode. They had a great time picking flowers, seeing a bunny, and even a beavers den!! They waited awhile for the beaver, but he was a no show. It was so funny. My 6 yr. old still rides with training wheels and when I came around one corner behind her there she sat. Some doe doe had driven a vehicle on the trail leaving a tire groove. She had one training whell on each side of the groove with her driving wheel just a spinning mid air:lol: She'd slowed to look at a pine cone and it was just enough to stop her. This type of exercise is priceless:D It was raining once again today so I did the 1 and 2 mile WATP tapes. Discovered too that smoothies mad with cantaloupe are delicious. Extrememly sweet :smug:

I always plan ahead. I make sure I have my water, remote for the TV and program all set before I even start on the treadmill. My workouts always fly by. My treadmill is also right by the front window in the living room so I can see what is happening outside as well. Granted it doesn't look nice right there but if it motivates me, that is all that matters to me right now!

I'm going to be honest with everyone. I broke down today and was very bad :s: We had a Bday at work today adn I had two brownies! :p They were Sooooo good! I shouldn't have came home also b/c dh wanted me to fix pancakes and I had 2 huge pancakes. I have to admit they were good! :dizzy: I need to get back on track I did have to force myself to go on my walk b/c my legs still hurt! Ughhh! I am a big baby or what! :) Well as I am typing no more cheating and being a little :ink: !!! I promise! I ahve weigh in Saturday so who knows how I will do. This is going to be my 5th Weight Watchers Meeting! I don't want to think it is okay to go back to my bad habbits! Thanks for listening girls! :)

it's been a couple days since i have updated! i just briefly read all the entries. everyone is doing great! keep up the great work!

tonight i walked around the tufts university track. i haven't been there at all, and i was really weary on walking around on a track. i thought it would be boring. but since i WAS looking at the same thing for an hour... i decided to at least time my laps! and that motivated me to walk briskly. usually that stiffens my legs, but i didn't slow down at all! it was great. i would have to say that i walked 3 miles today. i didn't really count my laps, but generally i average 3 miles an hour! woo hoo! go me!

i hope that everyone on this list had a great day! one of these days i'll get everyone's names and postings down... so i'll be able to comment on everyone individually. :spin: ;)

Good evening all!

Worked out in the garden again today. We're in autumn at the moment, and some of what I've planted will only flower now, but I've put in a lot of ground cover that flowers most of the year. We've borded off an area and planted it with ferns and stuff. Very tropical and looks fantastic.

On top of that I went for my hour walk again. I reckon it's about 7kms. And now my legs and butt hurt! hee hee

Jenifer, Marc is a chef, and at the moment, while he's home without a job, he's doing pastry cooking for my mum, who puts her cooking in a shop. The problem is, when I'm helping, I'm surrounded by brownies, caramel slice, biscuits such as shortbread. It's torturous!!! And I'm sure it's NOT good for my diet when I'm tempted to have a little taste test sometimes! :o Speaking of which, I'm off to cut up brownie now..

Kristi, I LOVED your little story about your 6 year old and the training wheels - my Josh has had the same thing happen to him, and it's so funny watching them try to figure out why all their hard peddling isn't getting them anywhere! hee hee Josh had his wheels off recently, and has moved into stack mode. Freaks me out! It's so hard to stand back and let them learn, possibly hurting themselves in the process. I'd wrap my little boy up in cotton wool if I could!

No weight loss to report - I've gained, but I think that's to do with all the walking and my body settling in. Hopefully I'll have a much better loss to report next week. Pissed me off though. It's hard not to get despondent when you don't lose, but I've just got to keep going, confident that in time, IT WILL COME OFF!!!

Jenifer, Noe beating yourself up. It's against the rules:mad: Forget yesterday and move through today. My family too wanted breakfast last night. They wanted mom's homemade waffles. Luckily I had to teach confirmation class and leave just as they were sitting down to eat. I was able to not eat waffles, but did indulge in 2 sausage links and 4 strips of bacon while driving to church. A little on the fatty side, huh?! Oh well, maybe salmon or chicken today:dizzy: Good luck on your weigh in.

Lynne, Brownies?! I think I'd hire someone else to cut them. My little tastes always turn into 3 or 4 whole rows right out of the pan:^: I know what you mean about wanted to protect our children. It's especially hard when you 1st send them off to school. It becomes so obvious that you can't keep them safe. It's a great big world out there and they are a part of it. Im trying to teach mine all I know now while they're still young enough to want to listen to me.;)

A little high on fat yesterday, but pretty good for cals. Got in a 2 mile walk on the trail today. I went the opposite way today and found so much evidence of the hard winter we had this year. Not so much snow this year, but much longer stretches of very cold and high winds. In our 1 mile stretch we saw 4 downed trees that looked large enough and healthy enough that they should have made it. There were nice edging sized rocks pushed up by the ground frost. A few of these went in the wagon. They'll look great in our flower bed.

Wow! Everyone is doing awesome on workouts! I ended up walking when I came home. Half way through it started pouring down rain. Actually kind of fun. I'm glad I went! I'm back on track and ready to weigh in Saturday with a loss (thinking positive)! :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: The weather here has been totally crazy for California, but I know other states are getting it bad.........I hope everyone is safe!

Does anyone know what a good pedometer cost and where I can purchase one at? Do they really work??? :?:

Hi Ladies!

This is a short one as I am very tired and just want to go to bed. Glad to hear everyone has had a good day today. I will post more tomorrow when I have more time. I didn't get a walk in today, or any kind of exercise. I worked all day and then hubby picked me up and had to do some shopping after work, so we didn't get in till about 8:45 pm. Tomorrow will be a short day at work tomorrow so I will definitely get my exercise done. Till tomorrow...:grouphug:

P.S. Jenifer, my hubby bought a pedometer at Wal-Mart for $8 or $9 and it seems to work pretty good. He said they have several different ones. I haven't used it yet but I am going to one day soon while I do a walk on the treadmill and see if it comes out about the same. I may do that tomorrow, because I am curious to know how accurate it is. I will let ya know. :)

Hey everyone, I'm pooped today as well, sounds like we're having a good week though. Today we walked our regular route and brought my sisters new Jack Russell pup along for the first time. He's 4 mos old and just got through all his vaccinations a couple of weeks ago. He trotted for a good bit of the way then my sister carried him in a canvas tote bag when he got tired. We even had to stop at the elementary school to get them a drink of water. I had to walk his big brother (another JRT from a previous litter) who hopefully will be teaching the little guy some manners about not barking at every other dog we see :lol: .

Lynne I totally know what you mean about letting your kids go to learn and grow up and get roughed up a little bit--it's tough! My only son's 4 and I'm having to deal w/his newfound independent streak.

Kristi I'm sure your flower bed will look great in no time.

Cristi I forgot to mention yesterday that I liked that survival list you posted yesterday, in fact I printed it out and tacked it to the wall next to my desk. Good stuff.

Jenifer I got my pedometer at a Sports Authority between $10-$15, it has the "talking" feature which tells you how many steps/calories/miles/minutes/hours you've walked, etc. I think they also had another one that played music that varied the tempo based upon the speed of your walking. You just have to look around a little bit, the more features, the more pricey I'm sure. I would just get a basic one and save your $ to get more Longaberger stuff :lol:

Kristen good job on your laps! I wish I had access to a track, sometimes I like monotony as it lets my mind wander a little more than if I had all different sorts of scenery to enjoy.

Caci hope things are well in your neck of the woods. That's some freaky weather going around.

Janine how are you faring today?

Jen did you get to go to Kickboxing last night? Or did you choose the BBQ? I forget...either way hope you had fun.

Hi guys! :wave:

I didn't get any exercise in today. We were at Josh's school for their Sports Day. It was lots of fun watching the little kids running around, with all the chants and stuff. Took me back, that's for sure! Josh's team Yellow tied in first place with Green. :cp:

The only exercise I got was kicking the footy around with Josh for about 5 minutes at the end of the day!

Considering I spent most of the day sitting around, I'm stuffed! :lol:

So, nothing to report, although I have to confess that my food has been pretty bad today, as we took lots of nibblies, all fairly high in fat content. :nono: Such as pate, pesto, sundried tomatoes, brie, cream cheese (low fat) and baguettes. Yum-OH! :T: I'll have to do an EXTRA long walk tomorrow to burn it all off! :dance:

Kristi, the only thing preventing me from eating the lot is the fact that it all goes into the shop and we make decent money from it. So in some ways it's better than just making for home! Well done for skipping the waffles, but bacon?! What are sausage links? Bacon trimmed isn't too bad....

Jenifer, good luck on your weigh in...

Cristi, sounds like you and I will need to go for that make up walk together! I expect a full report tomorrow! hee hee

Noelle, we've been wanting to get a puppy for ages, but waiting until we settle into the house and our new family more... I'm hanging out for chickens! :dizzy:

What's everyone doing for mother's day? I don't know what my family have got planned, but it will be fairly low key. The plants we bought for the garden were my mother's day pressie. We're having a lunch with the family, and my brother and his wife are coming all the way over from Tokyo. They're coming to Sydney on business, so are flying in for the weekend. It's mum's birthday as well, so they're catching two birds with one stone.

Thanks for asking. I am doing good but again didn't get on the treadmill yesterday. It just seems like I run out of time during the day and by evening I am so tired. I really need to get on that thing during the early afternoon or forget it. Today is going to be another busy day. I have to take my little one to and from preschool, try to get ins on a stupid car DH bought and find something for my mother for Mother's Day. I think I know what I am going to get her but just have to get there and pick it up. I will also be shipping DH and DS#1 off to Boy Scout camp for the weekend. I do have to :lol: cuz it is gonna rain most of the weekend and they will be in tents! :lol: :s: I know I am so mean but I still think it's funny!
Sat I am also scheduled to go donate blood so I guess I shouldn't walk then. Will have to see but maybe if I just go slower then I usually do it should be OK as long as I make sure I stay hydrated.

Jenifer, keep thinking positive. You too are doing awesome. My little pedometer tip would be to buy one that counts steps. Mine measure miles based on the length of your stride that you set into it. If I had not had the bike trail mile markers to check it by I would've been quiting my walks way too soon. It took me 3 or 4 miles of reajusting before I got it right even though I had paced off and measured my stride as suggested:)

Noelle, Great job again. Walking with a dog always spices it up:)

Lynne, MMMMM all your nibblies sound sooooo good. I'm glad you had a fun day with your family. Those count so much more than calories. A sausage link is made from pork-lots of fat and loads of spices encased like a hot dog. Very naughty, but oh so yummy :devil: . I will be enjoying mother's day on Sat. evening. It's our annual M D banquet at church. My oldest daughter (9) is singing a solo as part of the entertainment. I just know I'm going to cry. My heart swell so with pride (nearly) everytime I look at my children. (they're not perfect you know, sometimes I even get embarassed, but not too often:lol: )

Janine, I used the treadmill today. I added some 80's Pat Benitar and actually totally loved using it. I'm learning how to set it and read it by trial and error. I did just over 2 miles in 40 min. at a 5% grade. Not easily mind you, but I worked and it fealt great. Is that a range to shoot for or should I be aiming higher? Thanks for the encouragement:D

I'm doing good and feeling better than I have in 6 months. Thanks all:D

hello may flowers....

today was a beautiful day to be outside in new england. too bad i was at work for the day. :dz:

i was planning on going for a walk around the lake in wakefield after work. i was actually going to go with my mom... but i couldn't get a hold of her... so it was just me. getting a much later start on it than i thought i would. but i got the FULL hour of walking in .... AND i didn't have to stop at all to stretch out my muscles. normally they cramp up after a mile or so... and i need to stretch them. but apparently i have been just stretching them with my walks. :goodvibes:

you gals are doing fantastic on all your walks. i haven't set a goal for myself this month... but i plan to at least do a mile or so each day. :)

weigh in day is tomorrow. i look so forward to getting weighed!!! i never ever would have said that two months ago... but i truly do. who else of you may flowers do weight watchers?

Whoohoo TGIF! I am so ready for the weekend! I walked my regular route after work. Really nice weather compared to tornado watches in California last night. Weird! :dizzy:
Thanks for all the tips on the pedometers I might go and look at them this weekend. I am going to check the one out they have a Weight Wathcers. Kristen I weigh in at WW tomorrow! I get excited but this time I am nervous b/c it is my 5th Weigh In and they say it suppose to slow down as the weeks go by. :yawn: Not looking foward to that. I will post what I lost when I get home.......unless I gained....heheheee! (brownies guhhh)

Hey ladies, love the new avatars Lynne (is that your wedding picture? How sweet!) and Janine! I knew we were a bunch of great looking ladies :lol: . We may have to rename this thread next month to something like "Walking Beauties" :dizzy: ...anyway, it's great to have faces to put w/the names. Hope to see more of you others too.

Got my regular route in w/out the puppy this time. The weather was getting overcast but the breeze was blowing so it wasn't so humid. We may get a bunch of rain tonight though, I don't mind as long as it clears up for the weekend. No plans in particular for Sunday, we'll just wing it I guess.

Jenifer and Kristen and anyone else who weighs in tomrrow, good luck I'm sure you'll all do fine! Speaking of movies, I just bought the Real Women Have Curves DVD and watched it yesterday. weigh in saturday was a success! down 1.6. yippee! :cp: and, for some odd reason, i decided to actually tuck in my shirt today... i never do that... i generally like to hide my rolls. :lol:

it's a beautiful day out and i'm planning on getting a walk in. i had to nudge my friends a little bit to do it with me since i'm hanging out with them the whole day!

jenifer - everyone seems to be different with their weightlos... my first week i lost a bunch... and then the next week, barely anything... the week after... a bunch. i guess just keep your head up through it all. i don't think i've plateaued yet... but when i do, hopefully i will be content with it.

Noelle, You just gotta love those kids. Hope your weekend stays rain free and once again great job on that walking your miles are really adding up.

As for me, oooouuuuuch! This treadmill novice is feeling it today. It's a good pain though sore not injurous! Had a great time with my kids last night. Their elementary school held a Spring dance for just the little people. Parents had to sign in and stay. No drop and runs allowed. It makes for a nice night. In art last week every child was given a sun visor to decorate and if you wore it you received a prize upon entering. We did the chicken dance, hokey pokey, limbo ( I sat out ) Lots of unorganized dancing too. Just about every child won a prize of some kind. They all had a ball. This morning we ditched the Sat. morning cartoons and hit the bike trail to the park. The kids had a doughnut and chocolate milk picnic for breakfast. I know not the healthiest, but it was a treat. Our regular route is 2 miles round trip, but we took a short cut so I'm logging 1 mile.

When I was on my way home from weigh in I wanted to stop and get something fast food b/c I was mad, but I decided to come home fix some breakfast and now have just been cleaning. I need to stay on track and get this weight off! :) :) :) :) :)
Well dh just went to the bank to get some money and I think we are going to the fair here in town. It is very small town so it should be interesting b/c I am use to big state fairs. We just moved here last Halloween.

Hi ladies,

Sorry I haven't checked in for a couple of days. I have had a really bad week. No walking for the past coulple of days, and of course when I planned to get out ther today and do the new trail I found which would be about 4 miles, I look outside and it's SNOWING!!!!! Rained allday yesterday, and it's actually snowing now. I hate Colorado weather. Our trees here have suffered, branches have been breaking off all morning, so I've got to get out there soon and break them up for the trash. Although my sister is into all that wicca stuff, and she says she could use them to make wands and staffs to sell at the witchy auctions. More power to her I guess.:wizard:

Well I think first I'm going to go tan and then go to the rec center. for some exercise. I need to get back on track. Monday is weigh in, and I know there will be a gain. Catch you all later.

I'm still here, not going anywhere.:D I have just been very busy with work and running around, it has been a little crazy the last three days. I did manage to get in a walk yesterday and today. Not much but a walk none the less. I also rode my bike yesterday for 25 mns. I will do more tomorrow.

Noelle, I agree about Janine and Lynnes avatars. GREAT photo's ladies! I have a couple of rolls of film that need to be developed but I need to finish off a roll before I take them to be developed. Hopefully there will be one decent photo of me in there and I may use one as the avatar.

Jenifer, sorry to hear of your gain. :( It wasn't too big of a gain so with a little hard work this week I bet you will be back to seeing a loss next weigh in.

Jen, sounds like you have been busy. I know what you mean about Colorados weather. My mother and brother lived there for a few years and we visited in May one year and one day it hailed, of course my kids being born and living in CA had never seen hail so I let them go out in it for a few minutes. They thought it was so cool, all these little balls of ice falling from the sky. :lol: But the next day it had snowed, which was weird.

Lynne, I too have a Josh(ua), Joshua David and he is a little devil!:devil: He's the jokester in the family.

Hi ladies! I was just surfing the net and wanted to see who has been on today!
Kind of funny! We had a young guy come to the door and want to try to demo a Kirby (we had no clue what it was). Dh was like well we need the living room done anyway we might as well listen to the demo. Then the guy towards the end gave us the price...whoaa baby! My floor looks nice though & Dh gave the guy $40 for a tip b/c we didn't buy one.....aughhh! :) :) :)
I have a question about the pedometers. Dh and I went to the sports store to look at equipment and get a pedometer. Gosh they had like 20 to pick from. :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: I am not sure what one is better than the other. Of course the 20 something guy didn't have a clue what one works the best or any he could recommend. I looked for the one that talks and couldn't find that one. The ones I saw range from $9 to $39.95. Help so I can buy one. LOL :lol: :lol: :lol:

Hey ladies, just wanted to update my mileage today and I'm heading out the door for the evening--my boy is sleeping over at my sisters so I'M FREE, I'M FREE!!! :goodvibes: I got my walk in early this morning and added a little extra street onto it, that should add up to at least an extra 1/2 mile.

Jenifer as far as pedometers go you really only need one that counts steps, miles and maybe counts calories burned--these you can program according to your stride length and bodyweight. Those are the features that I would look for. But that's just my 2 cents. :D Kirbys are great vacuums if you've got an extra 2K spare change in your back pocket...yeah right! My moms got one so I use hers :lol:

Cristi good job on getting yourself to walk and ride that bike--the main thing is that we're all moving our butts right? Hope things calm down for you w/work and home. Hope you find a photo that you'd like to share with us.

Jen you'll get your groove back, just keep on trying.

Happy Mother's Day ladies!
I was gonna try and get a walk in yesterday but I wound up giving blood then playing with my younger son for a while. Before we were done I got a call from my sister who invited us over for supper. So off we went. She said to come early and we could get in a little shopping as well so we did that then came back to her house, fixed supper, ate, helped a neighbor take their pool cover off then back to my sister's and sat around chatting. Before I knew it it was almost 9:30PM!!!!!!!! :eek: I had to get home and get Alex to bed!!!
I did splurge and had half a piece of peanut butter cheesecake! :o It was good!
Oh, thanks for all the good comments about my avitar. I always like seeing what people look like and this was a pic taken when I was in Montreal in late April. I cropped it and thought it looked pretty good so I put it up.

Hi Ladies. Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day and didn't eat too much like I did. It is so hard to be good when everything tastes so great and you just have to have a little piece of everything--so back on my diet today.
We have been having odd weather here in GA. so I did not do all the walking I should have last week. First we had rain for several days and then it was so humid that after about two miles I was really drained. This morning it was great through, about 55 degrees, so I did walk for an hour, or a little over 4 miles, but still am afraid I won't make my 60 miles this month, but will do my best.

Last few days have been totally blah, and I'm gonna have to walk half way across Australia to make up for all the food I've eaten!! :o

Jenifer, Don['t sweat a gain of less than 1/2 a pound. The important part here is that you decided against eating through your anger. That's a really tough decision for all of us to make.

Cristi, Hi! I hope you can slow down your work pace some. I thinl working out before work is a great decision if you can do it. That way there's less opportunity to skip it as the day goes on and responsibilities increase.

Caci, Way to get out there. Our weather has been pretty rainy also. I've had to do a lot of the WATP tapes. It's sunny so far today. I hope to be able to hit the bike trail with my kids after school.

Lynne, Really glad you had a nice mother's day. Mine was actually one I'll always remember. I leave for Sun. school with my 6, 7, and 9 yr. olds at about 8:30 am. When that's done my husband along with our 3 yr. old joins us for services at 10 am. Well, the three oldest were up there singing their hearts out in the jr. choir making all us mommies happy and proud and my youngest was sitting quietly on my lap. All peaceful and so nice when suddenly the 3 yr. old turns around on my lap and makes an odd little owie sound and proceeded to throw up all over me. Needless to say he and I came home immediately leaving my wonderful husband to clean up the mess. We spent the rest of the day in the recliner together intermittently watching Thomas th Tank movies and sleeping. WH took the other three to see the movies Holes and brought me a qt. of hot and sour soup from the chinese resteraunt. I ate the whole qt., and ice cream bar, and some microwave popcorn. So I know my cals. weren't in range yesterday, but I'm back on track today.

Hi everyone. Well, I had a great Mother's Day! Haven't had a good one in years but this year both boys decided to behave and I had a great day. DH and the boys took me out for lunch then we went to my mother's to give her her gift.
Both boys made something for me in school. Scott took a baby food jar and glued pieces of colored tissue paper on it to make it look like stained glass. You drop a tea light in it. I lit is last evening and it looks wonderful when lit. He also made me a Mother's Day card and some coupons for things like doing dishes, cleaning his room, washing the car, etc.
Alex made me a little flower from his hand print and then a handmade card.
Lunch was at Montana's Steakhouse. I got an 8oz steak, grilled shrimp, baked sweet potato, salad with low fat dressing and a big glass of ice water with a twist of lime. I only ate half the steak and potato but ate everything else. Brought the rest home and had that for lunch today.
Today my youngest is home sick. He has a cold and an awful barky caugh so I kept him home. I am working on getting the wash done so will be making many trips up and down stairs with loads of laundry then putting everything away. Should set aside some time for the treadmill!

it seems as though i haven't posted in ages. not much to report as far as walking goes. i did a couple of the leslie sansone tapes yesterday and today. i figure i'll use them when the weather is miserable. like it was the past two days.

jenifer - i tend to stay on the lower end of the points. at least that is what i aim for... so if i do happen to find myself in a situation that i may need an extra point or two... i'll be all set. but it works differently for everyone... so i hear. don't get down about the gain... we'll all be here to encourage you! ;)

cristi - excellent job on the weight loss! 2.5 is great! :bravo: it's always nice to have a loss on weigh in. keep up the great work!

janine - the mother's day gifts that you received sound so adorable. i hope that your youngest gets over his cold soon.

Everybody seems to be doing an awesome job!!!! :cp: We are just a bunch of walkin' fools ;).

Anyway... I got back to the rec center today and did another 5.4 miles. It's so much easier when I can watch t.v. I'm a couch potato at heart. And another 20 minutes on the bike. Not sure how far I did with that one, I started to really slow down near the end. anyway., I'll check back in tomorrow. I'm getting sleepy. :tired: Talk to you then!! :wave:

Hey Girlies!!!!

How are you all today? As for myself, I'm doing pretty good so far. My son is pushing his luck a bit with my sanity, but he's out playing with some friends right now, so I thought I would hurry and post. Eating was okay, I think. QUESTION: Should I still eat even if I'm not hungry, or should I force myself to eat. I don't usually get hungry until mid afternoon. So I wasn't sure what I should do. Any advice I would appreciate it. Anyway I think I saw that we were logging in the WATP walks also, so far today I have done 2 miles. And at least 2 more later tonight. I LOVE these tapes. I checked them out from the library, so I only have them for a week, but I'm making sure to get good usage out of them. It's nice to do it at home, and not out in the heat. And it goes by so fast. I couldn't believe it.

Anyway watching Buffy right now, I love shows with chicks that kick butt, not to mention the guy that plays Spike (one of the vampires) I go completely gaga over any guy with an accent.

lovnmom: (I'm so sorry I forgot your name :^: ) I would have quit also, I don't like the idea of people watching me very much. But of course I would have pulled up a seat and watched them work. At least if he was very cute.

Noelle and everyone else THANK YOU for the birthday wishes! I wish I could say it was a great one but it wasn't. :( I just wasn't in a celebrating mood for some reason. My hubby did get a cake and ice cream and guess what? It is still in the refrigerator killing my kids. :lol: They are dying to have some and want to know when I am going to cut it. I think I may wait a few more days. Anyway, THANK YOU ladies!

Hi Everyone! Wow today has been very long for me. At work it seems like these days I don't get anything done. :smug: Oh well tomorrow is another day! :lol: I did get my walk in and then some! Whoohoo! The truth about my walking is sometimes I don't feel like going but once I go I a, glad I went. Silly I know.....:dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: Do you girls get that way sometimes?? When I came home tonight I super cleaned my kitchen and even washed the floor.
Well Thursday will be my last post until Tuesday evening. I am going to go visit my Mama (Southern California)! :) :) :) We're going to Weigh In together (Saturday) and I might post if I feel like getting on her Dino~Computer! Hahahaa!
Today was so beautiful here in California! I wanted to leave work and come home and do some yard work so I can get some sun. I need to tan! Plus I feel better when I am tan! Kinda feel thinner! :p :p :p

Jen, Mother sanity seems to be scarce this week asI too only have a tiny bit left. As for my roofers one of them fits nicely in the adorable category. He's only about 5'7" (that's still 5" taller than me ) and just plain cute. Polite and all the muscles in the right place. He's one of those I like to call a "dishwashing crush". Someone you can daydream "what if" about while monotanously washing your dishes. It hurts no one and keeps a loving wife entertained on occasion:lol:

Cristi, Sorry to hear you had a blue birthday. Here's to hoping today is a better day.

Jenifer, Great job cleaning that kitchen. It's the one room I dread cleaning. I think it goes back to when I was a kid. I couldn't go to any event or out to play until the dishes were done. Now that I'm a mother of 4 just like my mother I fully understand why she delegated the job to one of us.'Cuz it sucks!

I stayed up until 3:30 am with ill child #2 and it's raing again today. I thought very hard about skipping exercise today, but I remembered how truly awful I'd feel if I just slouched. I got busy and did the 1 and 2 mile WATP tapes and it completely lifted my spirits. Thanks so much to all of you for keeping me motivated:D

Hey ladies.....

Just thought I would check in real quick before I start cleaning the darn kitchen. I wasn't able to get back and do a couple more miles last night, my daughter was up until midnight. I don't know what's wrong. Hopefully she'll get out of that pahse soon. I'm tired. Just got done doing 3 miles, and if I have time I will be going to the rec center but I think I'm going to limit it to 2 or 3 miles there and concentrate on the bike today. Not sure though.

Jenifer: I feel the same way about being at least a little tan. It makes me feel a little better "thinner" than when I look like casper (almost translucent) I've been going to a tanning salon for the last couple of weeks. But of course there was a last minute change of management, and now I have to try and get my money back.

Kristi; Good Job on the walking. I hope child #2 starts feeling better soon. It's awful when kids are sick, I would much rather have it be me.

Well I think I better go get the kitchen cleaned up before I have to pick up my son. Wednesdays are early release days. We'll see how he is today, 7 going on 18 (All of a sudden he's got a real smart mouth, I think it's the kids he's playing with. But there's not many ids around here)

Hey Ladies, I always seem like I'm running behind :faint: ...I've a got a sick boy on my hands (fever/coughing/runny nose etc) who I've kept home from school today. I had to bring him to the office w/me for about an hour just to make sure the taxes were paid, etc. --Kristi, hope your's are feeling better. I got my regular walk in the past two days and plan to do it again tonight, just wanted to update my mileage. My walking's great but my eating's atrocious :ink: . I need to get back to routine and fast!!! Hope everyone is doing well--almost halfway through the month, let's keep on walking!

For some reason I am very sleepy this early evening. :yawn: I think it is the weather. It's been rainy and yucky since yesterday and is supposed to continue through Friday. :rain: YUCK! I only love the rain if I don't have to get out in it. Anyway, I managed to get 1/2 of my workout done this morning before work, finished it when I got home. Did 2.5 mile walk and 25 minute bike ride today. I will probably do the same in the morning since I don't have to be at work till 11. That way I won't have to worry about it the rest of the day. Getting that water down also.

Jenifer, have a safe and fun trip to and at your mommies house. I wish my mother was close enough to visit often. She's only about a 7 1/2 hour drive away but who can find the time? :shrug: Not me, not right now anyway. I keep saying I am going to take a weekend but have yet to do it. Yes, I will taste some cake for you when ever I cut into it. Now it's turning into a joke. :joker: My kids are dying for cake and ice cream. :lol: WTG on your walk today. Wow it is good to hear from everyone. Noelle I hope you son feels better! :) Being sick isn't fun at all. I am really running late on posting b/c I was getting laundry done and all that good (bad) stuff. :D I managed to get my walk in after dinner. My dh went to a friends house this evening to show him his new motorcycle well they went to the base exchange and he came home with a talking pedometer (by Bally's fittness??) So I can't wait to try it our tomorrow. I do have to measure my steps though so I hope I like it. :?: Well I am so tired and ready for bed! Keep up the walking!

Well, I didn't get in any walking again yesterday or Tues. for that matter. I have been busy with school meetings, running kids to and from school, Dr appointments and getting a costume together for DS#1. They are having a civil war time dress up day tomorrow so I have to finish getting that all together today.
I also have a sore throat and a gland in my neck that is real sore and swollen.
I did fine an interesting site to help you keep track of your diet and excercise. http://www.calorieking.com/
They have a handheld version and I downloaded it to my palm. I can take it with me everywhere to keep track of everything I eat. Right now I am using the trial version but I really think I am going to buy the full version. You can hotsync between the site and your handheld or if you don't have a handheld you can just keep track at the site. Check it out.
Anyway, I don't know if I will get in my walking today on the treadmill but probably will while shopping. I have to buy a long sleave button front shirt and suspenders for Scott for tomorrow. Will also probably hit Subway for lunch cuz we will be out shopping at lunch time.

HI guys!

I FINALLY made it on that long walk... although only around the local neighbourhood, haven't made it up to Darwin yet! hee hee I walked what we estimate to be about 6km, which is about 3.6 miles... I loved it. Had my walkman on, powered along and did it in 45 minutes!!!! The only problem with a walkman is when you forget that no one else can hear the music and you start singing out loud! :lol:

I can't believe how many days I went without exercising. Was really feeling it that's for sure! However, luckily, I haven't gained any weight and remain at 106 kilos. Would rather be losing, but considering what I consumed over the weekend!!! :nono:

I went and bought some new leggings and a top yesterday, as a way to get me motivated and give me something decent to wear when I go walking. These pants are really nice. They're 3/4 length, a dark blue/grey/purple colour with a band of pink and purple running down the outside of the leg. I FEEL energetic just wearing them! So there I was today, in my new leggings and sneakers and top, bottle of water in one hand and walkman in my pocket, feeling on top of the world as I powered along to some of my favourite music.... GOTTA LOVE IT!!!

Better get to bed, got a busy day tomorrow. I got given a gift voucher for Christmas for a Deluxe Pedicure and Manicure, which I'm finally getting tomorrow. I've also got lots of gardening to do - haven't been into the garden since last week, it's been raining. Guess I'd better use really good gloves so I don't ruin my nailpolish! hee hee

Cristi, Thanks for asking, my daughter's feeling some better. She's missed 2 days of school. I told her she won't be able to go tomorrow either if she doesn't manage to eat a little something this evening. She has a field trip tomorrow so if she doesn't eat tonight I may feel it's necessary to rush her to medical atention :lol: WTG once again on your exercise. You are such an insperation.

i haven't posted here in forever it seems. just trying to stay on the good eating habits while trying new things. or at least mixing it up. tonight i had chicken sun dried tomatoes and wild rice. it was good. i liked it, anyway. :) and that's all that matters. i really should go through my cookbooks and find some actual recipes.

anyway, i've done at least a mile walk every day this week. today was a little over a mile. tomorrow, i am going out after work so i probably won't be able to get a walk in. :( unless i get a walk in during lunch... which could be feasible. :)

Just a quick one again today. I was only able to get out 1.5 miles today on the treadmill, but I did another 3 miles on the bike. Finally figured out how to get the miles. :lol: Anyway, I'll probobly get in another 2 or 3 miles later tonight again. I'm hoping for more tomorrow, because Saturday is going to be a bad day for exercise. Unless I get up at 5 am and get my butt to the gym. :chin:


Kristi: I have a Boy Scout too. :) Tiger Cub....he gets his Bobcat badge next week, and then on to Wolf Cub. Actually I'm looking forward to a break from all the meetings over the summer.

Hello friends! :wave:

I've just been to the drive in. :cool: The last one now still operating in Adelaide. Totally sucks that they've closed all the others down over the years - with all the cinema complexes opening up in all the suburban shopping malls, there's not the same demand as there used to be. The one we went to is about 20 minutes away heading north. Good fun. I've always enjoyed going, cos you can do anything you want and take goodies etc, instead of the fortune you spend at the cinema. A ticket at the cinema alone costs about $12 per person, whereas the drive in is $15 per car. Marc and I went on our own - got mum to babysit the kids. We went to see Matrix Reloaded, which we both hated... it just went on and on..... but being there was good fun. We borrowed dad's car (we had to sell ours, couldn't afford to keep it), and he has a volvo stationwagon. So we put the back seat down, blew up the airmattress, and camped in the back under the quilt! :smug:

I went and got my nails done. It was nice, got pampered for 2 hours and now I've got shiny nails! :lol: Didn't get to do the gardening, we're doing that tomorrow, hopefully it doesn't rain! :rain: But I did walk to the Beauty Salon and back, which was about 20 odd minutes, so I got some exercise today. Food has been pretty good, a few nibbles at the movies, but nothing disasterous.

I'm gonna get some shuteye, and look forward to a big day of gardening. Might go for my big walk again tomorrow. I think my legs have recovered from the last one.... :faint:

Well hello, another slow start. I need to quit going back to bed after my son goes to school. My daughter is still sleeping so I catch an extra hour or so. I just have such a hard time sleeping at night, I feel like I need it. But then the day goes by way too fast, and I don't get everything done that I need to do. Watching Maury Povich right now, they are having one of those Paternity shows on. These and the reunion shows are my favorites. They just had a reallyt happy ending on the last segment.

Anyway, just thought I would check in with another 3 miles. Have to get ready to go pick up my son and go to the grocery store. Come back and this time really clean the basement and get the laundry done. Because I'm going to have even more this weekend. :dizzy:

Lynne: I LOVE the drive in but they have all been torn down here in Colorado. I think there might actaully be 2, but 1 I wouldn't go to at night, and the other is way too far away. They tore down the best one here for a Soundtrack store. :rolleyes:

Kristen, Jen, and Lynne,Way to go on your exercising. You guys are rockin' and you Lynne, you and Marc sound like a couple teeny boppers. Glad you had some fun even if the movie was blah!

As for my day I went to the state capitol woth my 1st grader today and a children's museum. My kdg. still didn't feel well today and after we got to school she decided she wasn't up to going on her field trip. In came the grandma calvary and took her to her house. Needless to say I didn't enjoy the trip much. I felt guilty and concerned, but we're all home now and she's looking real good even eating. I think she made a smart choice. One nice point about today I tried a new grilled chicken cobb salad from McD's. 400 calories with the dressing,a whole chicken breast, bleu cheese. etc. Real tasty. It's about time they put something like this on their menu. It even filled me up and it was so tasty I didn't feel deprived. So no real exercise to report, but the sun is shining and I'm looking forward to a nice weekend. Have a great one all!

Hi Ladies!

Thought I better get in here and post since I didn't yesterday. Today was a very busy day and I didn't get much done as far as exercise goes. I figured what the heck I have been doing so good I deserve to take a break. I didn't exercise today or yesterday, just didn't want to. I WILL be back to it tomorrow though. In the beginning my goal was to do it 3-5 days a week and I have been doing it 5-7 days so I think I have done okay.

Lynne, the drive in sounds like fun! :) I haven't been to one in a while. The last time we went it was hot and we couldn't roll the windows down in the car or sit outside because the mosquitoes were bad. It just ruined the whole evening. So we usually stick to the indoor theaters. Sounds like you had a nice day of being pampered. Isn't it nice to do things for yourself? It makes you feel special, or I should say more special because we are all special. Or it does me anyway. I am dying to get a haircut but then I keep thinking about my goal for locks of love. I hope I make it. :crossed:

Kristi, sorry to hear you dd is still not feeling well. I hope she gets better soon. Sounds like you had a fun-filled day. I haven't tried the McD salads yet. My son did one day and they look good. He said it was a little better than Wendy's salad.

Good evening folks!

I have managed to get through the day without chocolate, specifically.... well, I had a low fat hot chocolate in the afternoon, cos I HAD to have something! And I had some icecream for dessert... but overall my day has been really good food-wise. Unfortunately I didn't get ANY exercise, or the gardening done, as it rained. I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to exercising in wet weather. I'm going to have to get out my exercise videos again... :cb:

Mind you, I did manage to do some more sorting. The games are now all together in a "games cupboard" and the entertainment cabinet is all tidy, and I finished sorting out our study desk, getting all my paperwork in order, and finding a good spot for my weight loss stuff. :dancer:

Marc's watching the FA Cup, which is one of the BIGGEST soccer events of the year. I've grown up on soccer, as my parents are english, and I love the sound of all the fans chanting. :cp:

This is why I am typing this at 12.19am on Sunday morning.... :yawn:

Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow. I've also got quite a bit of housecleaning to do, so if I can't get outside, there's plenty to keep me busy!!! We've been invited to a party tomorrow afternoon, and I still haven't decided whether I should drink or not. I tend not to, cos I have to drive and look after the kids, but Marc is suggesting he look after the kids and we get a taxi, so I can relax and enjoy a few. Problem is that we don't have a lot of money, and drinks are worth points that I don't necessarily have. I think in the end I'll just have a couple of wines and save us a lot of money! *sigh* It's all so complicated!!! :chin:

Jen, sometimes a daily nap is really good, when you've got a full load with kids and stuff. Obviously your body is telling you to slow down and look after yourself! Don't forget to keep up your water! ;)

Kristi, sorry to hear your little one was sick, hope they're ok now. I've heard the McD's have had to add new healthy stuff to their menu cos they're losing lots of money and having to close stores because they're not selling as much as they used to. People are becoming so much more health conscious, and a Big Mac is not as popular as it used to be. So they've had to do some major alterations to their menu, which is great!!! :cbg:

Cristi, yes it is really nice to be pampered. I don't think we do it often enough! Pity we can't afford to do what I'd really like, particularly get a massage regularly, to untie those knots in my shoulders! I think, considering your normal exercise routine, that you're allowed the odd day off!!! :lol:

Well, I'm gonna snuggle down under the quilt and read my book for a while.. catcha tomorra!

because somehow... some way... i managed to lose... 3.4 pounds! this came as total and complete shock to me. i thought that i may have lost one... or possibly 2. but 3.4? geesh... i guess the walking is paying off!

i don't mean to pat myself on the back about it, but i really just can't help it! :cb: i was nearly crying at weigh in.

now that that's said, i need to try and get a decent walk in. i have a wedding to go to this evening. an asian wedding. i've never been to one, but i heard there's like 7 courses or something. :o i'm not a big fan of fish... so i probably won't be doing that... but i guess i'll just do bits and pieces of everything else. and eating a salad before i go!

anyway... happy weekend ladies! i am really glad that you're all here... it makes walking a lot more fun. :dancer:

Hi Lynne, sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead of you. We've had rain the last two days also and I am hoping it stops so I can get out too.

I think some cleaning is in order for me also. Need to catch up on laundry and such, get some exercise in there, and I want to work on my daughters scrapbook. I'm making one for each of my kids but starting with her. I've done two for my hubby and myself, wedding ones, and then one of his families pictures. I would like to do a heritage one of my grandparents, those are nice. We'll see. It is definitely a costly hobby, but then if you think about it, it is your memories you are preserving.

Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi to ALL and hope EVERYONE has a GREAT weekend. I won't be posting again until Monday. So see ya ladies then. :grouphug:

Yikes! It's been days since I've posted here. My son's still sick, although a little bit better today--I know he's not faking it when he doesn't even want to watch television and would just rather rest. Anyway, walking is superb, eating still leaves much to be desired on the health front. But I have made a promise to myself that after this weekend I will be back on that wagon come **** or high water. I haven't come this far to just give up! :no:

I haven't been able to read all of the posts but here's some of the tidbits that I wanted to comment on:

Janine I love calorieking.com, I love the diversity of foods they have listed. I recommend it to all my friends also.

Cristi I would never have the patience or creative talent to scrapbook, but you sound just like my sister. She's put together a couple of collage pages from photos from all the grandkids in the family, then pictures from each family. We'll eventually have a book's worth of pages to put together. She enjoys doing it, and well, I enjoy looking at it :lol: . Keep those precious memories alive.

Lynne your pamper day sounded divine--I wouldn't have done gardening or any housework for that matter either!

Oh yeah, for the other ladies who were interested in cleaning my house, I was able to clean my house a bit since I was at home w/the sick kid for 3 days straight! I'd love to have any of you visit if you're in the neighborhhood though...

Hi guys!

I went for another long walk today. I measured it with the car, and it's actually 4.8km, not 6, but still not a bad effort! :D
I really LOVE the long walk. Sounds crazy, but I find it a real challenge to aim for the end of the long stretch, get to the corner, and know that I've done a large part and it just seems to get easier. And the last stretch is a power trip, knowing how far I've come and the fact that I'm still going strong! So I've decided that as long as I have the time, I'm going to do it everyday. Certainly should work off those kilos in no time!!! :lol:

Food's been pretty good. I decided NOT to stay for long at the party, had 2 glasses of wine and a few nibbles (low fat, carrot sticks etc) and then we came home. So I've done well all day. I even managed to stay away from the chocolate! :eek: :dance:

Oh, I also remembered another way to track your weight loss. I'd forgotten about MEASURING your body. Because MUSCLE weighs more than FAT, sometimes you won't show a loss on the scales, but the SIZE will tell you that the centimeters are coming off. So I'm going to set up a spreadsheet and record my measurements every week, at the same time as my weigh in.

Kristen WAY TO GO!!!! :bravo: If you aren't going to pat yourself on the back I'll do it for you! PAT PAT PAT PAT :D

Cristi, I'm a big fan of collecting memorabilia. My grandad has been researching our family tree, and has dated it back to the 1800's in Italy! Amazing stuff.

Noelle, glad to hear your little one is on the mend. I think I need those house cleaners too! I've been so vague today. Marc was like a whirlwind in the kitchen preparing stuff for today's party, but I can't remember much of anything!

PS I've got a recipe to pass on that I got from my mum. I'm not normally one to do this, but this is a special:

Bread Cheese Dip


One large round wood oven continental loaf
One onion
One capsicum
Handful of Ham (approx 100gms)
One tin creamed corn
Low fat cream cheese
One fresh chili

Mixed vegetables, crackers, etc.

Ok, here's how to prepare it:

Finely chop the ham, onion, capsicum and chili (deseeded) and combine with the cream cheese and creamed corn.
Cut the top of the loaf off, and scoop out the bread (which can be used another time for breadcrumbs).
Pour in the combined ingredients and replace the top.
Wrap the loaf in 3 layers of foil, and cook in an oven at 180 degrees celcius for 2 hours.

Serve the loaf dip on a platter with chopped vegetables and crackers of your choice. You can also break up the top of the loaf to have to dip as well.

(If you need to transport it, keep it wrapped in the foil, and then wrapped in a towel to keep warm.)

This is REALLY yummy, and very low in fat.

hello flowers!

i am feeling pretty good today. i got a walk in today and yesterday. the same place... around the lake. 3 or so miles. i really need a pedometer or something. i think it's around three. today i finished in under an hour. i felt so great, i almost went around again. :) i never thought i would ever in my life look forward to walking. but i do. every couple days i think about when i'll be able to walk that week. when it's raining, when it's nice... what days i'll be walking where. it's actually kinda fun. i feel productive, ya know?

i did some pretty good food shopping today too. i bought a couple things off the list, but they're good things... like fruit 2 O italian ice things. i heard they're good. and only 40 calories! i'll let you girls know what i think. has anyone tried them?

last night was the wedding. and boy was there food. and more food. and more food. and beer. and more beer. and more beer. the waiters would just come over and leave beer on the table. most of the food was seafood, and i'm not a huge fan of seafood. but i did try it. even jellyfish. :O i thought it was seaweed... which i don't mind... but i came to find out later that it was jellyfish. i probably went over points, but i was expecting it. and i don't think i did that bad... but we'll see.

cristi - i am just starting to scrapbook. i will be working on my first one this summer. my friends from around the country are making our own at first and then sending them to each other... so each of us will have a full scrapbook at the end that we took part in. i'm kinda nervous because i never made one... and now i'll be a part of 6 other friends' scrapbooks. it will be fun, though. you'll have to give me some pointers! ;)

noelle - sorry to hear that your son is still feeling a little sick. it's good that he's getting better though. i hope that he's at his best by the time you read this

lynne - good job on the low snacking at your gathering! that's my weakness. i try as hard as i possibly can to go for the veggies, etc... but sometimes that cheese and cracker just get in the way! :lol: i'll have to try out that recipe as well. always looking for new things to try.

Oh how I've missed you all! My weekend was so busy with family activities and my little girl was still so sick on Sat. I look back now and wonder how we made it to everything! Sshe was pretty top shape yesterday though and headed off to school this morning. Thank goodness. I did real good eating on Sat. especially since we spent the day at a small town celebration. If you've never been to one most of the celebrating is done with lots of food and drink stands. I was able to resist and keep on walking except at the grilled chicken place. I was very proud until yesterday when I ate like a little oinker all day. Yesterday was what we call Festival Sunday at church. It's a celebration to end Sunday school for the year. All us teachers set up carnival type games with prizes or maybe a craft table etc. Being the Superintendent a lot of responsibilities land on me. Everything went terrific I had even planned a surprise teacher appreciation for after church and the other ladies were so pleased. To say the least, I was exstatic that everything went well and decided to have the cake and ice cream. What a no no. Being the first thing I ate for the day the sugar must have kicked in andI was out of control all day. 2 more pieces of cake at home, potato chips, popcorn, etc..... Back to being good today no matter what.

Cristi and Lynne, thanks so much for your concern for my little one. Lynne great job at your party and your exercising is awesome. Keep it up!! Uhhhh, what's a capsicum?

Kristen, WTG when someone loses 3.4 # they're allowed to pat their own back until their hand gets tired and then you can even get someone else to do it for you. It sounds like your wedding was fun. I love to try new foods even when they look "funny" You never know when you just might find something else to CRAVE!!!

Noelle, I too hope your son is feeling right as rain by the time you read this. Move over and make room for me on that healthy bandwagon. I fell off yeaterday with a big bump!

Yet another positive day. I LOVE not working!!! It gives me the opportunity to really concentrate on this weight loss.

Today, I did housecleaning for about 1 1/2 hours. Because it was raining again ( :doh: ) I dusted off my old Jenny Craig aerobic video and did that for 1/2 hour. Then I got out a chart of stretches and did that for another 1/2 hour! :cb: :cb: :cb:

I'VE ALSO STARTED A JOURNAL!!! :eek: I've created an excel spreadsheet that records my weight loss, measurements, daily exercise and the points I've earned, and a food record with the points used and banked. A couple of weeks ago I made a list of all the foods I normally eat, and what they're worth, so I can quickly look at the list to work out what I'm going to have for the day, and then record the details at the end of the day. It's just as well I'm doing this because I had a really nice chicken vegetable rice dish with sausage and salad, only to discover the sausage is REALLY high in points! :mad: So I need to be more careful! Lucky I'd earned about 6 points in exercise!!!! :fr:

I hope everyone has had a good weekend. We had a public holiday today, and tomorrow Josh's school is having a "pupil free" day, so we've all been home enjoying some good quality family time... now I wish they'd all get back to it!!! I love my family, but sometimes I miss having the house to myself! :stress:

Kristen, I know what you mean about the walking - I'm like that at the moment too. I'm hoping it will last!!! The only problem is that I'm addicted to my new leggings, but they need a wash! :lol: What will I wear?? :lol: I told Marc I love them so much and they inspire me to exercise so much that I'm tempted to get another pair in case these wear out! hee hee

Kristi, sounds like you did really well with the food, considering your social activities!! A capsicum is a pepper.... I sometimes forget that we've got different names for stuff! :lol:

Hey ladies. Just checking in w/an update on my mileage for yesterday. It's still before 3pm here so I haven't gotten my miles for today. I promised myself that I would get back on the wagon today and so far so good! I even bought some new walking shoes yesterday and threw the old ones out. I need routine in my life and if that means eating/drinking the same thing (well almost the same things) every single day then so be it. My boy's doing much better today, no fever, the cough is still lingering but ya know how those things take a while to go away completely.

Lynne I know what you mean about having favorite workout clothes. I just bought me some more cheap capri length leggings from K-mart--they're cheap enough so that I can get 2-3 at a time. I bought 2 pair when I started in October and the only drawback since I started this weight loss thing though, is that now some of them are getting really baggy and stretched out...I can pull the waist band WAY up above my waist :lol: . Time for a smaller size I guess. Go ahead and get more if it motivates you to keep exercising.

Kristi there's always room for more on the proverbial wagon--I'll move my butt over a tad so you can hop on.

Kristen I'm happy to hear that you at least tried some of the different foods at the wedding. I have an appreciation of people who like to try different things rather than those who turn their noses up at anything that's not meat and potatoes :lol: .

Noelle, thanks so much for the video! I finally tried it today and must say I can't believe that is a 2 mile walk! It went by so fast and it actually felt good. It felt like regular exercise, not walking. I did it after my regular treadmill walk. Glad to hear your son is doing better.

Jenifer, glad you had a GREAT time at your moms, and that you are back.

Kristen, you will enjoy doing the scrapbook and I would love to give you some pointers. I'm not that good myself but it is something I enjoy doing and have been for about 4 years.

Kristi, hi! I know how it gets with the cake. I finally cut into my birthday cake Thursday and had two pieces, one Thursday with ice cream and one Friday. I'm just glad the kids ate the rest! :lol:

Okay, as for me I think I did pretty good with the eating except for eating out a couple of days and the cake and ice cream. Apparently, I made the right choices and didn't eat as much as I thought because today was weigh in and I lost 1.5 pounds. :cb: I was kind of suprised because on top of that it is TOM and I always gain a little during that time no matter what. I've really got to be careful the next two weeks in order to make my goal of 6 pounds. I've got 2 pounds to go. That's about all I have for now ladies. Noelle, I look forward to the time when these become baggy!!! I said to Marc I'll buy another pair, and hopefully by the time I wear these out and start to wear the new ones, I'll be that actual size. I bought a size 16 you see, where I'm a 20. But because they're so stretchy, I can wear them - they didn't have my size. So hopefully when I start to wear the second pair, I'll BE a size 16! :lol: I've worked out that I have to lose about 8 kilos to lose 1 dress size, so if I get down to my first major goal of 90 by my birthday in October, I'll also fit into those pants!!!!!

Kristi, I think, ordinary pepper. I'm not sure, as we don't call it that here... but we get capsicum in green and red, and you can use either...

Well, I'm giving myself a pat on the back tonight. I managed to drag my butt through an aerobic workout, even tho' I've just started my TOM!!! :cp: I could feel a headache coming on, but seeing as how my new leggings had just come out of the dryer all nice and clean, I just HAD to make the effort! :lol: I also did my stretches, which are nice and simple. I can work on increasing as my fitness level increases. Oh, and when I can get further than my knees in stretches!!! :lol:

It's really good having this spreadsheet on the computer. It makes journalling soooo much easier, as I'm on the puter already, so just nip in there and update my daily progress.

I'm gonna try getting myself a massage now, so see ya all tomorrow. :D

PS Would you say that a 30 minute aerobic workout was equivalent to about 3kms of walking (1.8 miles)? Because I want to keep the numbers going up, but I'm having to do aerobics cos of the rain....

Noelle, Glad to hear of son's recovery and you must be so proud of those baggy leggings?! I know today my "winter" jeans are hanging in the butt am tempted to weigh early and try on summer jeans, but I also am expecting TOM in 2 days and don't want to be disappointed.

Lynne, Great job getting that aerobics done. I find it soooo hard to stick WP during TOM. I myself think any movement can be added to up your numbers. Great job.

My day was tiring. I had to rise at 3:20 am so I could have my sister at the hospital for surgery by 5:30 am. She had her 1st opperation in Sept. '02 to remove cancer from her bladder a week later they removed her left kidney as it was fully engulfed by a cancerous tumor. 1 more surgery followed in a month for small ones in the bladder once again. Last week she went for her 3 month checkup following treatments and there was a small tumor in the bladder once again. That is what they removed today. In and out though. They wheeled her in to be put to sleep at 7:10 and by 7:50 the dr. was talking to me about how it had gone. By 10:30 we were heading home. For myself I find this disturbing. I just think people going through something this serious should get a little more attention than that, but you know faster means more time to make more money with other patients. I know I sound bitter. On the up side my sister is staying very positive and just keeps rolling with the punches. I did no exercise today, but my eating has stayed in line.

I got my exercise in today, finally! Did a 3.60 mile walk and a 25 minute bike ride and I am pooped.

Lynne, can I go with you to get a massage? I have been saying I was going to go get one for the longest time and have yet to do it. My mom and her sisters had gone a few years back and she highly recomended it. They (My Mom & Aunts) have been going on vacation every year together for quite a few years now, which I think is neat. I would love to do that with my sisters. Hey, WTG on your work out.

I agree about the doctors getting you in and out, it's sad that they don't take more time to spend with the patients, especially for something such as cancer. And you have every right to feel bitter. I understand completely what you and your sister are going through and it is so very hard to deal with.

I got my regular route in of 3.5 miles today, no sweat! I just love my new walking shoes, so much shock absorption and ankle support, no shin splints or aches and pains to speak of :D . Why I waited over a week to get them I don't know. The next time I start to get pains again I'm heading to the shoe store right away.

Kristi I'm sending good thoughts and prayers your way for you and your sister. It's good that she's staying positive throughout. I think it helps w/a speedy recovery. :grouphug:

Hi, can't talk for too long, it's late and I'm REALLY tired! :yawn:

Just quickly coming in to say I walked for 25 minutes, covering about 3.4km. I then did my stretches, and am finding that I'm walking a lot easier than a couple of weeks ago - I'm finally losing that slightly bent over, I'm-just-recovering-from-a-caesarian, look!!!

Food's been good, finally managed to get UNDER my points for the day.

Noelle, What kind of shoes did you buy? Strictly for walking or cross training? My tootsies are screaming for new ones too. I totally agree with exercise helping the aches and pains of TOM. The ups and downs emotionally too seem so much better when exercising also.

Lynne, Keep up the good work. It's wonderful when you start to see and feel a difference from the work you've done.

I surpassed my May goal today and I am so happy. I was tired and crabby and didn't want to do it, but with every step I felt better. Thanks for all the encouragment. You guys are great!

Happy Wednesday all. Just turned the TV off after watching the finale of American Idol. I'm very happy for Ruben, a bit sad for Clay. Although each of them will probably have very lucrative recording contracts anyway...I cheated a little and asked for the results here on the website and knew who won before watching--I'm 6 hours behind east coast time and 3 hours behind west coast so there were a few cooperative souls who gave me the lowdown :lol: .

I did get my regular route in today 3.5 miles--I still love my shoes! Kristi I bought New Balance running shoes...I don't think they're walking shoes because the way they're really contoured looking, and walking shoes look, well, kind of orthopedic and geriatric :^: . But I've heard so many other people on 3FC say good things about New Balance that I just had to try them, and I must say I agree, I have only good things to say about them. Great job on passing your goal this month! WooHoo!

Hi gang!

I've had a very hard day today. Couple of times have wanted to go for a walk, but been really busy cooking. Then I've had this headache from :censored: , and in the end, no exercise got done. But that's ok, I'll just go for my really long one tomorrow! :D
And the good thing is that I stayed on program with food, even managing to bank points!!! :cp:

Good news is I HAVE LOST 2 KILOS!!!!!!!!! YAAAAAYYYYYY!!!! My first official loss since I started my program again!! :dance: :dance: :dance:

Well, didn't get any exercise done yesterday, as far as walking. I did however do a lot of house cleaning so I would say that is exercise. I have really grown to dislike house cleaning. There was a time I honestly didn't mind it but after doing it for so long I am sick to death of it. I need to get a maid! :lol: I've turned into a pack rat and am trying to get rid of so much junk. Haven't done any walking today as of yet. I will get a walk in before the evening is over though and will post my exercise later this evening or first thing in the morning.

Noelle, hey I just got new shoes too, well a couple of weeks ago. I had to go get something for work, being on my feet all day. And they feel good also. I bought some Nikewalk (airliner) and boy do they feel goooood! They are so cushiony and my feet don't hurt. My hubby has worn New balance for a few years now and he won't wear anything else. Of course that's about all he can find in his big size 14, that and nikes. He likes the New Balance better. And you are doing great with your walking, WTG!

Well, I didn't get any walking in today but I did a lot of walking and pushing a shopping cart in BJ's. I left the house at about 11:15am and didn't get home till about 3PM. I spent just over $300 and then had to come home and lug everything in the house then put it all away. About half the stuff had to go downstairs and all the meat had to be repackaged so I got all that done. I didn't sit down till about 4PM then that was only for about half an hour then I had to start getting supper going. Now it is just a matter of waiting for DH to get home and hope he doesn't kill me after he hears how much I spent. The cupboards were really bare and now things are quite full. What I bought should last us about 3 to 4 weeks so overall it isn't bad.
My sinuses are still draining but at least my throat isn't sore anymore. I have also finally been able to get a good nights sleep so that is also helping me feel better. I went probably 4 days with hardly any sleep or no more than about 1˝ hours in a stretch. That is not good esp. when you are sick and really need a good amount of sleep.
Well, I had better take care of the 50+ emails sitting in my mail box just from this afternoon!

Hi ladies! I got my walk in yesterday (Wed) and I am going to go later tonight. The heat here is over 95 degrees! I am not complaining thought b/c I am ready for summertime!

Whew, it's been a long day and I'm tired. As for me I'm happy to announce I was able to buy capri's in last summer's size so I know things have moved.(thanks for motivating me girls) They're not quite as loose as last summer, but I knew there was no way I'd lost the full 15#. I really didn't want to go shopping, but I have 5 high school graduation parties to attend and really needed something new. With any luck the capris will still fit after all the parties. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm actually looking forward to getting weighed on the 28th. Well, I have to go set up the tent. With a 3 day weekend my kids are sleeping outside and we're having a camp fire etc.. It has been getting pretty cold night
35*f, but that's the advantage to camping at home. They can always sneek in the house in the middle of the night. Have a great weekend all and keep on walkin'

Didn't get the chance to have that long walk I'd hoped for. Marc got offered a shift that would bring in good money, so my day went too quickly to get one in... but I went for a quick one so I've at least done my exercise for the day! I had to go when it was dark, and on the main streets it's ok, but relectant to go down the side streets, so that's why I kept it short :D

Food's been really good. I've been under points again, and feeling really positive, which is a good thing!!

i haven't posted in a while, but i do read up time to time. everyone seems to be doing a great job!

welcome, jessamybowes!!!:dancer: you'll like it here. everyone is really supportive of one another not only with exercising, but with everything going on!

anyway, i've gotten at least a mile or two walk in every day this week, except yesterday. i had a get together last night right after work and didn't get home til around 11. and by that time, i just wanted to go to bed. tonight i'll do a two mile walk and then start cleaning up my apartment. my friend is coming up from connecticut for the weekend, so... i want to make sure that she's not sleeping in any clutter. :lol: we'll see.

weigh in is tomorrow morning. i'm trying not to obsess over anything... i should start taking measurements.... and recognizing whether things fit a little looser. cause that will be the true test.

but... this week, there were two people at work that said i was looking good... like i was losing weight! i was so psyched. cause i can't tell since i see myself all the time!

alright... i should really get back to work.... but i just wanted to check in .... and let you know i was still alive!

Another quickie....

had a really late night watching movies with Marc last night. A few too many champas, so I've got quite a bit of walking to do this week to make up for it!!! :nono:

Did some more gardening today - VEeeerrrry quick, as it started to rain, but got the rest of my pansies in. So pretty! One of my favourite flowers.

Food's been really good. I'm really getting hooked on making smart choices, and then giving myself a mental pat on the back. I like the feeling of control. Of finally recognising that I have to be clever about what I eat and when, so that I can still enjoy treats, but in a controlled environment. I HAVE to know and understand how to do this to the point of it being automatic, because it is a LIFELONG habit!!!!

Had a great day today. Daughter's piano recital went beautifully and I was excepted into "The Praise Band" at church. Not hard to do simce they are this wonderful group of really strong women that sing upbeat music at a contemporary service my church offers on Sat. eve. My joining is strictly for selfish reasons. Being Sun. school coordinator plus the 7th and 8th grade teacher I really give 0 months out of the year. I'm eally looking forward to these terrific ladies ministering to me for 3 months. I've wanted to join them for years, but have never had the confidence before. Tonight i just said to myself, " I'm going for it, " and I did and they hugged me and said how glad they were I'd asked. All this and smaller capris. I'm one happy camper.

Lynne, Congrats on the extra income. I hope the shift is one you can all be happy with as well. Keep up the great exercise. A life change like a new shift would've been a good reason for many to skip exercise all together, but you got out there and got yourself a "quickie" WTG girl. I too love pansies. They remind me of a much loved babysitter from my childhood!

Cristi, Thanks for the pats on the back and the good vibes. They made it here and I'm feeling good. The camping last night was hilarious. My Nervous Nelly of a hubby wouldn't let the 7 and 9 yr. olds to sleep outside alone and at about 3:30am when the temp. had dipped to about 40*f he convinced them that he had frost in his hair and that they'd better come in the house. So funny how a strong hee man can be such a sissy!

Well.....I think I'm back. Had a really hard time the past week, but I'm slowly getting back into this. Easing myself into exercise again also. I hope to pick up the pace within a couple days. I didn't weigh in last week, due to the bad time that started with a bad sunburn, which actually turned into heat stroke (according to the ER doc) so......Monday we'll see what kind of damage I have caused. Hopefully it won't be too bad, although I don't think I'm going to make this goal. But you never know. I did 1.5 miles yesterday, and so far today 1.9 and hoping to get in at least 2 more. We'll see. You all ahev been doing so good. I'm proud of all of you.

I did however manage a 15 minute bike ride and a 1.62 mile walk before things went downhill. I feel so guilty too. :( But I do know what I have to do and that is quit thinking about it because it's done and over with and there's nothing I can do about it. Tomorrow is a new day and I will start anew.

This weekend has been a bit higgledy piggledy for me, but I've kept a reasonable control on my food. Today, I had an Undercoverwear Party, which is lingerie and clothes for women. I served low fat muffins and diet flavoured mineral water!! :D

I also went for my long walk and did my stretches. Yay!

I had an interesting thought on my walk. I was thinking that in my post tonight I'd be saying how positive I feel about this, and that hopefully this time it will last. And I thought AH! Saying "hopefully this time it will last" is almost inviting disaster. I SHOULD NOT be saying "hopefully" but DEFINITELY. This is a lifestyle. It is a change for life. There IS NO "hopefully" because this is not just a fad, but a way of being for the rest of my life. Although my conscious mind has accepted it, and talks about it being this way, obviously my subconscious mind is taking a bit to catch up!!!

I also realised that once I've lost another 4 kilos, I will have lost 10 kilos from the weight I was at when I got pregnant this time last year. :D

I got caught out today by tricky advertising :mad: I bought some low fat chocolate muffins that claim to be 97% fat free. However, when you look at the kilojoules and total fat, one muffin is equal to 2 WW points!!!! For something that's supposed to be almost fat free, that's a lot of points!!! I'm spewing cos I had 3 thinking they'd be about 1 point each, and in doing so have gone over points today. I was trying so hard to do the right thing, and got caught out. Guess that will teach me a lesson, that I shouldn't ASSUME anything, but check the facts!!!!!

Jenifer, don't feel bad about the small gain - lots of things could've caused it. Don't forget muscle weighs more than fat - you could have just converted another fat deposit into sexy muscle!! :D I don't know if it's any consolation, but on my side of the world, .6 pounds is 0.27 kilos, so not even 1/2 kilo, and we can fluctuate around 2 kilos a day! So hang in there, you are doing an AMAZING job, and will continue to see great results!

Kristi, I love the idea of camping in your backgarden. We didn't do a lot of that, although we used to go camping in the Victorian Grampians every October long weekend. I love your hubby's way of getting out of it - I can just hear the kids repeating that story for years to come, and him trying to forget! :lol:

Jen, good luck on getting back into the exercise. I was the same when I started, but the more I do, and the better I feel, the more I want to do!!!

Cristi, from the way you described your day, I don't think you've got anything to feel bad about - you pigged out, but it wasn't on junk food - that's one step in the right direction. And you said you didn't exercise enough, yet you went for a bike ride and walk!!! I'd say you are a CHAMP and keep up the good work!!! If that's a bad day for you, you are going to be cruising to your goal weight in no time!!! :bravo:

Well, as I said I did so much better today. Stayed on track with my eating and after mass this morning I did a 25 minute bike ride and a 3.21 mile walk. Hey, I'm getting close to making my walking goal for the month, YIPPEE! No doubt at all I will make it. That's about all I have for now. I didn't plan on staying up late and here it is after midnight. At least tomorrow I can sleep in. :p

I note that you are celebrating Memorial Day - what is that for?

I had another good day today. Worked in the garden a bit more. Although we're renting, we're planning on being here for a few years, so want to landscape the garden so it is bearable. I've always wanted a water feature, so we're going to build up a waterfall and little pond / stream. We've managed to score some boulders and slate from a house being demolished across the road, and some broken concrete slabs for paving from my parents. So I've been outside tidying up, and then in the next few days we've got to weed the whole area, get the soil turned over, and then start digging! The idea is that we will plant herbs in and around the waterfall and pond. I've got a really good image in my head, so hopefully it will turn out ok. The great thing is that this will hardly cost us anything, apart from a few plants, as most of the materials we're getting free from people!!! :D

I also went for my big walk again. 4.8km in 45 minutes!!! :D

Food's been pretty good, but my gosh it adds up! It's soo good that I'm journalling, because at least I can keep an eye on what I'm eating. Therefore, if I don't lose weight, I can look back on the week and see where I've made mistakes and how I can avoid them again.

Cristi, glad to hear you had a better day, and that you are near your goal - I should make mine too, which is really cool! :bravo:

Hi everyone, I've had a great 3 day weekend. My house is clean, my veg. garden is all planted, and I had my first company in ages. My nice called early yesterday morning and said she and her family were going to be home and they wanted to know if they could stop in. I have loved this woman from the second she was born almost as if she were my own. She is my brother's only child. She was born when I was just 12 so she went with me everywhere. I was just the right age to fall in love with a baby and my brother being only 17 when she was born he and her mother needed all the help they could get from anywhere. Now my niece is almost 27, has a great husband, a beautiful 2 year old, and is 7.5 mths. pregnant with her second child. Remarkably my brother and her mother are still happily married after all these years. Anyway, we built a big fire and did hot dogs and marshmallows with the fixins and ended up with a lot of people stopping. We live on a main highway so when people drove by they saw the fire and stopped. We ended up having a ball. Except for gardening I managed no exercise the past 3 days, but i have stayed within cal. range pretty good. All in all I'm pleased with myself. Tomorrow life's back to normal and i don't think i did any damage.

Jen, sorry to hear you were ill. I hope you ease back into your routine so there is no relapse. Take good care of yourself and drink that water girl!!!

Lynne, I love your positive attitude. A lifestyle change is what we have to make. We can never go back to treating ourselves the way we used to or we will look and feel the way we used to and who wants that? Always read labels BEFORE purchasing, noone can be trusted! How has everybody's holiday been? Okay here. Feeling much better, getting myself hydrated again. I have been slacking off all weekend, pretty much with the walking but I think if I really push it I'll be able to make my goal.

Weigh in was today and I am down 3 more pounds (although that's for 2 weeks) for a total of 22 since April 6th. I don't know if that's good or not, but it feels pretty nice. I was able to get my behind in a pair of shorts that I wasn't able to fit into last summer, actually I wasn't able to fit into them 3 weeks ago, so that was awesome. I want to be in my size 16 shorts by 4th of July, not sure if that will happen though. We'll see.

Still doing laundry, and getting things ready for dinner. I have decided to allow myself to have 1 piece of cake that we have here, and then that's it. Someone has to take it to work wih them tomorrow so I'm not tempted.

So far today I have managed 2 miles and am p[lanning on at least 2 more, maybe 3. We'll see about that too. well I better get going, you all have agreat day!!!!

Well I am a bit disappointed. Even though I didn't expect a loss this week I sure didn't expect to gain 2 stinking pounds! :yikes: That's okay though. While I won't make my goal this month as far as losing weight, I definitely will make my goal for June, that is a promise! I am going to work harder. I have the exercise down it's just the eating. I honestly thought I didn't do too bad last week and I know the problem is I quit writing down what I eat so I have started that back up today. It really does help to see in writing what you eat. Too I know that in my mind I am thinking okay I exercised today so I can eat a little more and that is just not the case so I need to change my way of thinking there. I'm not letting it get me down though. As I have said all along I am going to lose this weight this time, it may be slow and take a long time but I AM going to do it!

Lynne, Memorial Day is a holiday for remembering veterans, and those who fought and died in the service. I think though most people have forgotten the meaning of the day and think it is just a weekend to get away. Sounds like your garden is simply beautiful! We too are renting a house and have been here two years but I can't get into fixing the yard. We are currently looking for a house to buy but from the looks of it we may end up here another year. I miss having a garden. I know I am going to plant some cherry tomatoes for sure. I love those and can't find them anywhere but at Wal-Mart once in a while and for the price and quantity it's not worth it. But you guys are doing a GREAT job with your garden. You need to post some photos so we can see.

Hi Ladies I am back and ready to post in a happier mode. I went for my walk tonight and that felt really good b/c I hadn't gone for a walk since last Thursday. Whoo baby I needed it! I want to go ride my bike and maybe I will later on.

Hey ladies, it's feels like ages since I've posted last. Sounds like you ladies are doing great on the walking and other exercising. My son is STILL sick! I don't know what's wrong but he's still running a mild temp w/a cough which gets worse at night, it's been 2 weeks already and he's been to the doc once. Doc says it was a run-of-the-mill cold but I'm not so sure the diagnosis was correct. I will be taking him again tomorrow to have him checked out again to see if there's anything more they can do for him or if they can find what's wrong. He's acting like his normal happy self, but when the fever sets in he's not interested in eating or drinking, just resting. I hope it's nothing serious although I'm starting to worry more due to the length of time it's been going on. I'll be praying that he gets better real soon. I've been only working 1/2 days since he's been ill and my paperwork's been piling up. Anyhow, I'm still getting in my daily walks and feeling pretty heart healthy--now to fix the little boy :( . Oh yeah, I overshot my May goal of 85 miles today by .5 mile--I'm pumped and ready to challenge myself to go even farther next month. let's do it ladies!

Well, I didn't do good at all last week. I had a 1˝ lb gain. Granted I didn't excercise on the treadmill but I have been doing yard work and got alot of house work done. I guess this is my wake up call and I had better make sure I set aside that 45 minutes or so to work out on the treadmill no matter what I do.

Hi everyone, I got my sister out for a 2 mile walk today. I could tell she really didn't want to go, but she did and I could tell she felt better when we got done. Tomorrow I will finally weigh at the drs. I'm hoping to be down 10# since I weighed last on April 13th, but from the way my clothes fit etc. I don't think I will have quite made it, but I will still be happy if I'm down 6# that would be 1# a week. Ok, face it I'll be happy no matter what, because I know I've lost.

Jen, Woohoo 3# gone. I too get so mad at myself when I eat a calorie filled food that only tastes so, so instead of super good!

Cristi, Way to stay positive. Any goal that's worth going for is accomplished by taking little steps towards it. You're so right when you say you have the exercise down. you are doing awesome. The next step will come. hang in there you're doing great!

Noelle, I too will pray for both you and your son. For him a speedy recovery and strength to see you through until he is better.

Well hello ladies,

Okay I just had a nice long post and I hit the wrong button. I'm mad right now, so I will try and remember everything I was going to say. Anyway.....How has everybody been today. I hope good. My day was pretty boring. I did manage 2 miles so far and I'm hoping to do another 2 or maybe 3 depending on when I get my butt off the computer and get the kitchen cleaned up, so I don't have to do it tomorrow morning. I need to also make sure to get back on here and post more often. I feel better when I do. I'm itching really bad right now, because I'm starting to peel from that sunburn`

Well we decided to skip south Dakota this year and go down to New Mexico instead. I have never been there, so it's something new. Can't wait for all that handmade jewelery. :cp: We'll be stopping in Taos and Santa Fe, and down along the Turquoise Trail. I need to map everything out pretty soon. We will also be doing the "Take a Llama to Lunch" hike. You get a llama, and a guide and you head up to the Sngre De Cristo mountains for a hike, and they cook you a "gourmet" lunch. That should be fun. Tried to get reservations for Ojo Caliente, but they no longer allow children under 15, because the adult guests need time for "Quiet Contemplation". Their father must be turning over in his grave seeing how his kids are running the resort now. Oh well. We'll just spend our money somewhere else. :)

Hi ladies! :) I am so excited I past up my mileage from last month! Whoohooo! :D I did 38.5 last month this month isn't even over and I have past it up! YA! Well today I wasn't very hungry for a change. HEhee! I think it was the heat......I registered for college today and now have to sign up in a couple weeks for summer school. It is weird going to school after being graduated for 10 years! YiKeS! I am excited though.
Janine keep your head up b/c you're doing great! I am a few slips myself but I just remember you can wake up the next day and start over.

Great day today! I love it when the weather is nice and the wind isn't blowing. I like a cool breeze now and then but this wind gets a little crazy at times.

Janine, hey I too gained this week but don't let it get ya down. :) I think it is all part of the process in the beginning. Seeing as you have gotten back on track I have faith you will be fine this week. It's good writing down or posting what you eat. That's where I went wrong, I had quit writing down what I was eating thinking I had it down and was doing good. I have started journaling what I eat, everything. I think it really does help.

Noelle, I sure hope your baby gets to feeling better soon. Having a cold for two weeks seems kind of long, but definitely not unheard of. ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) to you and him.

Jen, you will LOVE New Mexico! Well, I did anyway. My Aunt lived there for a few years, in Albuquerque and it is simply beautiful up there. I loved when they have all the Hot Air Balloons there. I've always wanted to go up in one and while living in CA I had the opportunity but I couldn't get anyone to go up with me, I am a chicken to go by myself. Now I wouldn't have actually been by myself the guy operating/flying it would have been there but I wanted a friend to go. They were more chicken than me. :lol: Love Sante Fe also! Too bad you guys decided not to go to South Dakota. Were you going to go to Mt. Rushmore? That was cool, and even cooler was Sturgis when all the motorcycles were there. Another nice place to visit. Well, hope you guys have a GREAT time!

I hadn't been back to school in years either and last summer I took some classes and then did a full year last fall and I can honestly say I enjoyed it for the most part. Oh, almost forgot, I live in Kansas, UGH! But lived most of my life in Southern CA and I miss it! :(

Okay, I have done well so far with my eating and exercise. I managed to get my exercise in early this morning and it feels GREAT! I did a 4 mile walk and am very happy to say I have definitely made my goal for the month of May! :dance: :cb: Now the tricky part is what will my goal be for June. :chin: I've not wanted to go too high for fear of not making my goal but since I have done so well, hmmmm, I don't know. I will have to give this one some thought. :chin:

Just a quick check in, I will definately post later. Busy day ahead, although it is 1 pm here.

Cristi: We were going to Mt Rushmore, we were going to stay at the KOA campground at the base of the mountain, but we have been there so many times. I really like it there, but we wanted something different this time. Besides I pend too much money onall the Black Hills Gold rings. I LOVE that jewelery. Then again I just love spending money period. :lol: I'm rally looking forward to going. I think we'll be leaving around June 9th and be gone through the 14th. But we will also be staying a night at the Sand Dunes in southern Colorado. I'm going to try to lose another 8 pounds by the time we leave. Don't know if it will happen, but I'm sure going to try.

Anyway, no exercise yet today. But last night I did get in naother .5 miles on the treadmill. I have to make this goal. Well I'll talk to you all later, have to get my son from school, Wed. are early release days. Bye!!

hello ladies
i can't believe it's almost june. i never set a goal for may, but i do have to say that i did pretty good. at least i think so. at least a mile walk everyday. sometimes even 3 or a little more. so i'm not too obsessed.

unfortunately, new england is ridiculous weather wise these days. :?: i just did the walk away the pounds two mile from leslie sansone. it's so different from regular walking, but i feel all my different leg muscles, not just my calves, like i normally feel when i just walk outside. has anyone else done her tapes?

yesterday i walked around the tufts track again. i'm becoming a regular. or at least i feel that way. there's an older lady that i see there every time i go. she does very well.... i hope i'm in shape like her when i'm her age! but actually, you know what i did? i actually jogged a little ways! i'm so not a jogger at all... but it felt nice to do it for a little while... something to change things up. don't worry though, i'll always be a walker! :cool:

but anyway, i really gotta jet out. i need to come out here more often. i need the motivation. i feel myself slipping big time. but enough of that.

Hi Gals! Got my regular 2 in and then I didn't know but last night I guess I ran over a thumb tack and my tire on the bike is flat. Hubby will have to go buy me a tube now. I am jogging a little while walking. I'm a mouth breather so I find it hard to jog. :dizzy:

Cristi your doing awesome on passing your goal up. Speaking of Kansas we might be moving to Oklahoma. Ughhh! :rolleyes: My hubby's contract might not get signed here so we may have to move where he can find a job. He has connections in Oklahoma. Kansas isn't far! Who knows though?

Jen your doing great don't beat yourself up though. Let us know how ya did. I just do as much walking as I can for the month and if I pass up what I did the month before I am happy camper! :)

Kristi are you going to be able to reschedule your doctors appointment? It take forever for me to get a dang appointment with my doctor.

Kristen I have done the WATP tapes and I like them. I know I like walking outside better even though the WATP gets my arms moving. I get board with it and only do it if I have to. They're good workout tapes though. I just love being outside! ;)

Just a quick one. I was doing pretty good today, planned on getting out and walking and then................They brought home tamales. I love Tamales. I ate 4 at first (these are smaller, about half the size of normal tamales) but then I just couldn't help it and I ate another 1 1/2. I did do 3 miles, but I'm going to have to work my butt off for the next couple of days to make up for it. The good thing though, is I'm totally over my tamale craving for a long while. I won't want them again for a couple months. I also made myself sick now. I better get some sleep. Planning on long haul at the gym tomorrow.

Good morning Jen & everyone else! Well I have to admit Mexican Food is my down fall. I am glad you had a positive attitude and your ready to go the gym today. I joke that I should've been hispanic b/c I can eat mexican food for every meal!
I'm off to beautiful work. :rolleyes: In this heat I really don't want to sit in an office all day! Tonight I am going to get my hair cut by some lady that does it out of her house. I am excited though b/c she is a fitness instructor and also she has lost a lot of weight on Weight Watchers. THis will be very motivational for me. Kristen, I love the WATP tapes.There's no option of slowing down plus you get the aded benefit of all those arm movements. You havre done an awesome job for May-pat yourself on the back lady!

Jen, Too bad about your bike it was sounding like you were really enjoying riding, but I'm sure your hubby will get it all fixed up for you. I too love riding and will get back at it as soon as the children are out of school. I can use the time I'm normally getting them off to school for riding, because my honey doesn't leave for work until after I'm back. What does your hubby do that his job may force you to move and what impact will a move have on your continueing your schooling? I hope your hair apt. is all your hoping it to be. As for my drs. apt. it is now scheduled for June 11th, but I don't think I can waite that long to weigh so I'll have to make other plans.

Jen, Forgive yourself for those tamoles and pat your back for the good walk you got in. Only 5 more miles!!!

Lynne, The past 2 days are history forget them and just be proud of the weight you've lost. I know many times i sabotage myself by treating with eats after a loss. Don't fall into that trap!

I did the 3 mile WATP tape today and it fely great. I'd been slacking since hitting my goal, but I felt so strong maybe a little rest was just what I needed. Food's been good. I ate some doughnut holes in place of 2 bread and cereal servings. I know a bad choice, but they were really good. At my localgrocery store they have free doughnut holes out, but when they're gone that's it. Whenever theey're gone my 3 year old makes me buy a bag of 24 of them. They're just too tempting some days!

May miles 38.75, I'm shooting for 6 more miles by the 31st.

:wave: Hey Ladies! I'm back. I finally got my son better enough to go back to school today. Whew! I was getting worried there for a while. It seems he's on the tail-end of this cold now. Doc says he could be a tad bit asthmatic, but wants to take the wait-and-see approach. Thanks for your concern and well wishes. I did not walk for the past 2 days (slacking off). I've been a little stressed out and not getting much sleep due to my son, but everything's hopefully falling back into place. I know I need to get back to a routine to get my eating back on track, that's for sure. Staying at home is NOT GOOD for my "diet" . I know, I know, I need to learn how to eat well for the rest of my life but you know how it is, being near the kitchen and all the good stuff :rolleyes: . I'm glad to be back in my office, sort of.

You ladies are a great support to me, in my walking and just in my life. Thanks a bunch :grouphug: .

Kristi your doing great! You asked what my hubby does.....he is a Senior Programmer & has a contract through a company on the AF base out here. So who knows what will happen. I want to know though. :rolleyes: I will still go to school for the Summer and we won't know for sure for about a month or so and then in October is when it may end.
I went and got my hair cut by a new lady. I like it! It is almost to my shoulders. I also got my walk in tonight and feel great! I did the self tanning lotion and it looks okay, just did my legs to see what it looks like. I usually go to the tanning beds but I just don't want to right now. I don't see any streaks so who knows if this will work??
Nighters all! If I can walk 4 miles tomorrow and then the next day I will be Sooooo HaPPy! I'll have to see how I feel.

Tired this evening but I thought I should get on here and check in. Didn't do much of a walk today, just 2.08 miles but also did a 25 minute bike ride. Just a little tired of walking, can't imagine why?! :lol:

Glad to see ya back Noelle and that your son is feeling better. :) Hey you have done so well with your walking you deserve a break from it every now and then.

Jenifer, what part of Oklahoma will you guys be moving to if it should happen? We had to be out there for a year 2 years ago, in Norman. It's not so bad. I actually like Norman, nice college town, and not so far from Oklahoma City. I like Tulsa the best though. You must post a new photo with your new style for us to see. I need to get my film developed and see if there is a decent picture of me that I like. I guess I could use last year's Christmas picture, :chin: I'll have to think about it. Hey have you tried those self tanners at the tanning salon? It's some kind of mist. I heard they work great and looks like a real tan. I had thought about doing it but then heard it only lasts a week and costs about $29 each visit. Now if it lasted a month if definitely would be something I would do. I always tanned when I was a lot younger now I am so worried about cancer and looking older than I am. I see a lot of women who are over baked! :lol: That's exactly what they look like though, like they were baking in an oven, that can't be good.

Lynne, the last two days couldn't have been that crappy for ya if you had a loss, so WTG! :bravo:

Today has been better than yesterday, but still HUGE room for improvement. I thought I was being all good and disciplined, but forgot how fatty sausages are and had 2 at lunch, AS WELL as lunch, and then another one for dinner. So that TOTALLY blew my points. I've said to Marc I need to stay away from sausages as a rule at the moment. Which is fine, cos it's not something I want all the time anyway. Thank goodness!!!

I did my aerobics and stretches, feel a bit stiff, but really glad I did it. I made sure to do it before dinner, as it's easier on an empty stomach, and I KNEW I'd be hopeless after dinner! :yawn:

BIG gardening day tomorrow, can't wait! We're gonna start weeding and digging up the areas for landscaping, as well as the veggie patch we want to get going. I'll have to take before and after pics to show you.

Noelle, So relieved to hear your son was able to go to school. It's so hard on the whole family when a little one is ill. I don't know how parents with really sick children do it. They must be saints. Way to get right back into your exercising, you've done so awesome.

Cristi, I have an aunt that looks as though they forgot her in the oven:lol: so I avoid tanning beds myself, but i love the real sun. I'm not one to just lie in it, but walking or gardening etc. and I have few window coverings in my home. The brightness just makes me happier. I usually use an SPF 15, but just on my face. I think that's why I have really old looking knees for someone who's only 39 (almost)

Lynne, WTG terrific job losing 4.4# you go girl. I've had a few bad days myself, but sometimes that fatty meat just looks, smell, and tastes so good. Naughty naughty!! I have radishes, green beans, peas, and cucumbers coming up in my garden. I just love the new little sprouts. I love how warm the earth feels when you tend it after a long winter.

Ok, I finally snuck into my local hopital and borrowed their scale. I have dropped 7# in the past 6 weeks. Considering I had a party or get together at least once every week I'll consider it a great job. I'm still 9# away from where I was last summer, but I can't have any regrets I just have to vow to take care of myself always from here on out. Thanks to all of you for helping me take these first steps back on track. You guys are awesome!!!

That's funny Lynne! :) I was craving sausage today and when I bought groceries it looked oh so good! :T Then my son said something about bacon and it clogging your arteries. I can't believe I actually passed it up. :( So instead bought strawberries, low fat cool whip and angel food cake! :eek: I don't know if that is any better. Oh well tomorrow I AM getting back on track for sure. I haven't been doing too good lately with my eating.

Well, I didn't get any exercise in today unfortunately. :( I may end up doing at least a mile walk this evening, not sure. I'm figuring a mile is much better than nothing at all. Cristi your son is cute, how old is he? I haven't really been eating that much meat except chicken lately. That angel food and cool whip sounds yummy though!

I made angel food muffins 1 point each.
Need: I box of angel food w/ a can of crushed pineapple.
Mix only those two together and cook it how is states on the box do not add anything but the two items and they're great!

Good evening folks!

I am stuffed! I got in 3 1/2 hours of gardening, and everything aches! :faint:

We got about 2/3 of the area cleared out, and it looks better already. I've been weeding, digging, hoeing, and hauling rocks. FANTASTIC exercise!!! Certainly did not feel the need to do my walk after all that! :strong:

Unfortunately they're forcasting rain tomorrow, so probably won't get a chance to play again until next week.... :(

My food has been so-so. Could've done without the berliner bun in the arvo, but I figured all that digging would work it off!!! :lol: Because of a high point lunch, I just had veggies for dinner - FIRST TIME EVER!!!! :cp: I've never been a huge fan of veggies on their own, but Marc has a way of making them that makes them so yummy. The carrots he puts mint, a bit of butter, and honey. The cauliflour and brocoli had a white cheese sauce, and the rest had gravy. Sounds high in points, but we use low fat ingredients. The gravy is instant, and 1/4 cup is only worth 1/2 point!!! I love gravy on potato. :T

Kristi, WOOOO HOOOO on the 7# loss - that's TERRIFIC!!! :cp: We're also planning a veggie garden, hoping for lots of salady things. We don't have heaps of room, but should certainly be enough to get fresh stuff for free! I'm also planning on getting a chicken for eggs! :lol:

We have heard just recently that tanning beds can actually cause cancer, so be careful!

Cristi, I'm not sure about the cool whip and angel cake, as I haven't had them, but :bravo: for passing up on the sausage!!! I'll think of your son's comment next time I'm tempted! :D And EVERY mile counts. Even if you only do 10 minutes exercise, it will all help towards burning off those calories, so OFF YOU GO!!! :drill: :lol:

Noelle, glad to hear your little man is feeling better. I hate bubby being sick. When Becky was born she got an infection 2 days after we got home, and we ended up back in hospital with her on IV antibiotics. It was AWFUL, especially considering I was still trying to recover from the caesar. We ended up being in there for another week! Luckily she's all OK now. I was the same with my food = it's very hard to be bothered with it when you're tired and worried about your baby. That's why my pantry doesn't have anything unhealthy, otherwise I graze on all the wrong things!!!

Anyway, enough of that! :lol: I better get off the puter and let Marc have a turn! :lol:

Good news, I managed to do 66 of the 70kms I had planned for the month, with is really cool. :dance:

Thanks to you guys for being such an inspiration - pity we don't all live near one another so we could walk together for real! ;)

Cristi, I think your strawberry shortcake was a much better choice. It's not ladden with fat like the sausage. I made brats on the grill the other night and ended up feeding the last 2 to the dog because they were calling to me from the refrigerator. I just love stuff like that and to me the turkey ones are just not the same. You have a great weekend hear!

Lynne, WTG on choosing veggies for supper. I always have a real hard time staying OP at the evening meal. We do the family sit down most every night so I many days eat only fruits and veggies all day so I can have nice size servings of carbs and protiens with the rest of my family. It helps so I don't feel like the odd man out. Plus with 2 daughters I worry about how they will interprett my wanting to lose weight. I rarely talk of my weight I always say I'm doing what I'm doing for my heart. There are enough awful messages out there for girls about being skinny etc. they don't need it in their home too. My mother past on a legacy of unhealthy body image to both me and my sister. In high school I weighed a whopping 110# and thought I was huge, because my mother always said 101# sounds like a cute number. Blahhh gotta love her though, she's my mom! Anyway I don't want my girls to ever think they're anything less than perfect!

I did the 1 and 2 mile WATP tapes. I'm now using 3# weights instead of 2#. I have 2 parties and no real plan of how to get through them without over doing it. I gotta get a plan before I leave the house!!!

I have to post my weight loss b/c I am so excited! Okay I finally got back on track this week after 2 weeks of gaining +.4 and +.6 and I lost a total of 2.2! YiPPiE! I can't wait for OnderLand! Soon! Jenifer, those muffins sound delicious! I think I had something liek it at work. The owners birthday was 2 weeks ago and one of the girls brought a cake for him which she said was a pineapple upside down cake, but was actually an angel food cake with crushed pineapple in it. I did good and didn't have any all day but when I was clocking out the owner/boss said here don't forget to take a piece of my cake so I took a very small one and it was really good. WTG on your loss today! :dance: :cb: :bravo: I don't have any suggestions for our new name, the only thing I can think of is June Bugs :lol: not a very good one especially since I think of those ugly bugs, ick!

Lynne, WOW I am impressed! I bet your garden is beautiful! You guys have been working so hard on it you are tiring me out. Gardening is definitely a great work out. The cake and cool whip is good. I slice a thin slice of angel food cake and top it with strawberries and then a spoon of lite cool whip. I also like dipping strawberries in the lite cool whip, good low-cal dessert.

Kristi, you made me think about my mom. When I was 135 pounds I was still considered fat. I will never forget the day my SIL asked my sister if I had always been that fat-I weighed 135 and never considered that fat, unfortunately everyone else around me did. I have two older sisters and 3 younger brothers and I am and always have been the 'fat' one in the family. To this day my mother still tells me I need to lose weight, well DUH! And so does she but I would never tell her that. I know this and am trying to do something about it.

I managed to do a 3 mile walk today. I am going to try and get a bike ride in also before the day is over, not sure that will happen though. I need to get some laundry and ironing done. Seems I am always doing laundry and ironing. So we'll seewhat happens. Talk to ya later.

Well, I didn't do any walking on the treadmill but today we did ALOT of walking. First we went out to lunch @ Wendy's. I got a grilled chicken sandwich with no sauce, side salad with low fat honey mustard dressing but only used half the dressing on both the salad and the sandwich and a small diet coke. From there we went to an auto museum and walked around there then it was off to the science museum. We were there till closing at 5PM so I guess we must have been walking for about 3˝ hours. Also did the stairs in stead of the elevator at the science museum. Exhibits are on 4 floors. When we got home I had to decide on supper. I decided on Chicken Marco Polo which is a low fat variety, tater tots baked and mixed veggies along with a glass of ice water.

hello flowers... (this is the last time i'll be able to say that, unless we're june flowers :lol:

anyway.... weigh in today went how i thought it might. i maintained. didn't lose, but didn't gain. so... i guess that's alright. i had a feeling that i wasn't going to go anywhere this week. i just need to stay focused and get back on track. i noticed that this past week i nibbled a lot here and there. and i never kept track of it. so all those nibbles must have added up to at least a point a day or something. i don't know... i'm babbling. but i did manage to get a 3 mile walk in around the lake. it was nice, i haven't been out there in two weeks.

jenifer - congrats on the weightloss! :cp: 2.2 is awesome! :cb: woo hoo! keep up the great job walking, too!

cristi - a 3 mile walk AND a bike ride?? you're so motivated! i know what you mean about laundry. i swear it feels like i do it everyday. :dizzy:

janine - hope you enjoyed your time at the museum! good job on choosing the healthy foods at wendy's. that can be tough sometimes when the burgers smell so good!

Okay I finally did it!!!! I got it done. I almost didn't think I was going to make it, but if I want to be at my vacation goal weight, I'm going ot have bust my butt until then. I hope you all have been having an awesome weekend so far. Mine has been okay. I finally got to the gym today and did 6 miles on the treadmill and 4 on the bike. I'm hoping that next month I can do better on staying motivated. That's what I need most right now is motivation.

Can't wait to see what next months challenge is going ot be called. I better head off and start cleaning the kitchen (again) I'm always cleaning the kitchen or doing laundry. So I know how you feel Cristi. I'll talk to you all later. Thanks for being there for me, even though I haven't been here much for you guys. I'll be better next month, I promise.

Hi ladies! Wow everyone is doing so awesome with the walking. I just completed my 2 miles earlier! I am feeling so good. I ended up having In N Out for dinner b/c since I have started WW I haven't really totally ate a fast food burger. It was YuMMy! I have been thinking of a name for the group! I was thinking June Babes! We are Babes but even more so when we get this weight off! :lol: What do you all think? I thought about June Bugs but I think of ucky bugs also!

Janine, I would have to say you DID get a workout today. Walking around museums is definitely a lot of walking and going up the stairs...good job. I always take the stairs also and it kills me. It doesn't matter how much exercise/walking I do I still can't go up stairs without being out of breath.

Kristen, WTG for maintaining, that is an achievement in itself so I would have to say you have done good this week. Hey, any week that you don't gain is a good week in my book! :)

June Babes sounds good to me Jenifer, count me in.

Hey ladies, thought I'd pop in and finalize my mileage for the month of May: drum roll please....... 89 miles :dancer: which means I overshot my goal by 4 miles. Must be those weekend 4+ mile treks...woohoo!!! I'm ready to do it again and more in June. Let's do it babes! See you then!

Oh yeah, didn't walk on Friday since I had an evening party to go to, then this morning was my son's "aloha" program at school for the graduating class of preschoolers moving on to kindergarten. My boy's got one more year of preschool but during his class' performance I cried like a baby! :cry: It was a bit ridiculous but you know how you get that lump in your throat...I kept thinking about how FAST he's grown and how soon he'll be off to kindergarten himself. Afterwards he asked me if I was crying because he sang so nice :lol: . Then he assured me that it was ok for him to grow up since I could still love him then too. What a guy. *sniffle sniffle* Well, it's off to bed w/me--hopefully I can drag my butt out of bed early tomorrow and get a nice brisk walk in, a great start for the month of June. :flow2:

Hi guys!

I managed to get back into the garden today, and it's looking so GOOD! It didn't end up raining, well spat a little, but not enough to deter me!!! Mum supplied us with lots of cuttings from her garden, so had lots of fun getting them into the ground.

So I did gardening for about 4 hours - another great day of exercise. I'm about to go and do some aerobics to warm up, so I can do my stretches. Last night I even managed to get on the floor and do some situps! :eek:

Food's been good. We're having Thai tonight, but I've already worked out the points, and adjusted my day accordingly.

Summary of the month of May was a 4 kilos loss (8.8 pounds), and 66 kilometers of walking!! :D My aim for June is about the same.

Kristi, I felt sorry for you when I read your post, that you can't be honest about what you're doing because of the stigmas and wrong impressions people can get. I know what you mean about being careful around girls, that you have to make sure that they don't get all thingy about body image. My mum was a shocker about food. She used to be a real dragon about eating junk food, to the point that I used to sneak it in to eat it. Of couse, that's then how the problems started! Food became a comfort in the security of my bedroom, away from her judgemental eyes. I've told Josh (and Marc of course) about losing weight, but I've put it in the context that we need to live a healthy lifestyle if we want to live long, and to do that we need to eat healthy balanced meals and exercise regularly. I haven't focused on the fact that I'm overweight, just that I'm trying to be healthier. So therefore, the whole family eats balanced meals together.
With the party, the best thing you can do is eat a low fat meal before you go. That way you won't be hugely hungry, and can enjoy a couple of little treats without guilt! :D

Cristi, I like the sound of that angel cake treat - might have to see if we have anything like that here! I can't believe mums - or anyone for that matter - who think they can just say what they want because they're related! I was the first to gain weight in my family, and the looks and comments I used to get (and still do, in fact) totally made my blood boil! Luckily, my brother is now bigger than me, and my sister gained after having her baby, so I'm not the odd one out. In fact, if my program goes according to plan, I'm hoping to be the skinniest of the lot by the end of the year!!! :D

Janine, well done on the walking and good food choices! :cp:

Kristen, glad to hear you didn't have a loss, considering all those nibbles! :lol: They add up don't they?? I have found that I have to be totally honest in my journal, otherwise I have the same problem!
