Patns- I am so sorry to hear that you've been feeling so unwell. The viruses this season seem especially virulent. I've been downing vitamin c & zinc but the thing I know will help the most is rest. So it's off to bed for me. Happy to hear that you are on the upturn. With all luck may you feel well for Christmas Day :)

Happy Holidays To All:

Been in maintenance for eight months and still do a phase 1 day on Sunday and sometimes Monday. My body seems to need in order to maintain my weight loss. Not complaining but to others have similar ways to maintain?

Endless dieter- Are you having a free meal/ day and this is followed up with one/ two phase 1 days? Or eating consistently but have the one phase 1 day? Do you exercise regularly?
In my experience... If I had a hog wild free day it would take 2-3 phase 1 days to return to my 'normal' weight. If I had a more restrained free day it would take one phase 1 day. If I had no free day I would lose about 1- 1.5 pounds with no phase 1 day. The more I exercised and the more regular I became with it, it eased the burden of Phase 1 and I found that my weight- regardless of how crazy the free day was- would return to normal after one Phase 1 day. Things spun out on me a bit when I had more than one free day in a week. Which did not happen until I'd been in maintenance for six months. I've read research that states that having one low carb day per week is very beneficial to weight loss & maintenance.

Hola I Peeps!
I've been threatening / meaning to do a reboot since Oct 1st...(I even posted here that I was planning, it.... but you know how time slips away from you). I managed to maintain within 2 lbs of my goal until about 6 weeks ago, when I just abandoned what I knew and went hog wild with sugar, baking, carbs, eating out A LOT... ya know how that goes!
So, I'm here to reboot with an extra 12 lbs!!! Yikes
However, with your support I KNOW I can get back to where I want to be again.
Patn - I haven't been keeping up with the threads, but hope you're feeling better, whatever it is.
Cap - Thanks for starting a new thread. Still no photo avatar?? ;-)

Since I last posted I read two books that had been mentioned here :
'Wheat Belly' and 'Why We Get Fat and What To Do About It.' I really found the 'Why We Get Fat..." book to be well written and the message resonates with me.
Also, hubby got me a phenomenal new camera for Christmas. I have an entirely new hobby to learn! (Which should help keep my focus off food.) When you say the word Camera Novice, subtract 20, then you get to my level! lol

I really need y'all to help me through the next 3 days especially. (OK, that's not entirely true.... through next 6-8 weeks or so....)

Any others returning for a post-holiday reboot?

Good Morning everyone

Thanks for continuing this thread Cap! I'm feeling more like I belong here than on the main maintenance thread until I start maintaining again! The best I've been able to do during the holidays are ph 1 days in between guests and gatherings. It's keeping me at 12-14 lbs over my original maintenance weight, so when I get started on strict ph1 for January I'll hopefully have the same and not more to lose. That seems to be working, plus been using my pedometer to track walking. That really works for me. What I'm still not doing is exercising with weights regularly. I'm so lethargic about that. Been to the gym for so many years, and have totally lost my get up and go. I need something in that dep't to perk me up again.
So...not great, but not awful either. I'm phase 1 till New Years Eve, so I can work off the past coupla Xmas meals.
As always...so glad we're all here checking in with each other!

Good morning All!

Haven't been on in AGES! So I've stayed within 4 pounds of my original goal through the holidays ... doing phase 1 days whenever I can. Man, holiday meals are tough!
My plan had always been to lose an extra 10 lbs or so in January and I'm revved up to do it. DH is also going to give it a shot! He won't go to my coach however ... he just wants me to assist him. A coach I am not! I can give him all the info and let him run with it though. It will be nice to work with him on it as it will be tough for me to keep my footing this time ...

Sunny - I've been dealing with that same issue of the weight training - for years I was so devoted and now I've just lost all my gumption. Maybe DH will do some with me and that will help!

Does anyone have the actual ideal protein website handy? I need to stock my hubbies food for him and get him a shaker :)

Have a great day everyone! Cap - thanks for starting the new thread!

hi all. Tthank goodness for this site. I lost 30 lbs during the summer, and got to phase 4 in September. But it did no go according to plan...but even so, I only gained 5. Went in today for WI and a check-in, and now i am all in! I am moving toward ketosis...maybe by Sauturday.
Friends here helped me before. The best of the best are here, so I am happy to once again be connected!

Angie and Delgen, Glad to see you back! I started in August and you were both a great inspiration to me!

I'm on phase 4 right now, and cheating WAY too much! Next weekend I'm going to be at my parent's and I'm going to be careful but I'm eating. I know that I can make up for the damage when I get back. I don't know if I'll have to do phase 1 for awhile or just a day with phase 3 days the rest of the week until I get back into the healthy eating routine. After my Christmas cheat days, I'm finding myself still cheating so I think I'll have to be strick phase 1 for a bit.

I still have so much to learn!!

Hi there I've been in maintenance for about a year now (lost 40lbs) and have just started back on phase 1- the lbs started creeping back on! My question is if I do phase 1 for say 5 weeks do I go through phase 2 & 3 the same way I did the 1st time? Or do we do it differently for a reboot? Thanks for the support everyone!

Good morning Ladies

Yesterday was a good ph1 day. Today will be too if I keep checking in here and keep my head out of the sand! Just put a decent size order in at Nashua, so I can stay ahead of the game. Ordered the Weight Loss System cheesecake pudding and some sticky roll thing that someone on the alternative thread recommended. Trying to change things up so I stay interested this time around. Portioned out and froze XMas white meat turkey so I can have quick easy meals at my fingertips.

Silly tech question...how do you get your before and after photos up???

yes, you go through phase 2 for a week, then 3 for a week...that is what my coach told me.

Well after an enjoyable Christmas I have started my reboot. Not sure if it's still called that if it's more than a week that is needed. I am 12 pounds up from my lowest weight so it is a phase 1 January for me. I
am going to try to cut the stress of the scale this time so don't plan to weigh until last day of January. Off to do an order, will have to see if there is any good deals on the Canadian sites but may go with Nashua if their shipping offer is still on.
Glad to see some familiar faces back for a boost.

Hi Pat
I've got the same 12 to go, so let's stay in touch. I'm with you on not weighing in at this time. I have found (this is just me) that WI's can be a form of punishment sometimes. I know how I look and feel. I also know how 12lbs less looks and feels, because I've already been there. When I start getting that lanky feeling again, I'll step on the scale to confirm that. Good luck! I know we can do it :0) PS. Just got my Nashua order as well. I believe they still have their free shipping over $49 and reduced shipping to Canada.

One site which sells IP food is www.plainprotein.com (http://www.plainprotein.com). Use coupon code december in lower case for a 10% discount. Think they have free shipping too, not sure though.

I was quite close to goal at the end of the summer but then with a lot of travel, went off a little bit for a month and spiraled down from there. Am back this past week, started Ph 1 12/26, so currently in day 4.

Decided I will lower my goal weight to 135 this time so overall, probably have 20 pounds to lose, more or less. Being very strict, not eating any restricteds, drinking extra water, exercising at least 4 X/week - but I always have - apparently not enough to compensate for my overeating though - LOL! oh well, it's a journey! I have to say, I did especially poorly around Halloween candy...next year can only buy the day before and then get the leftovers out of the house on Nov 1st. Will update my ticker and signature next week at the conclusion of week 1.

Wishing all of you well!

So glad to see another familiar face. That is exactly how I feel about the weighing, if it doesn't go down as quickly as I like I can get in a funk. At 5'1" I don't think I'll ever feel lanky!! LOL. But I know what you mean. My first goal is to feel comfy again in the pants I was wearing well up until the beginning of December. When I get to that stage I will venture onto the scale.

Part of the problem is being in a very cold climate. With all the layers we pile on at -30 it is easy not to be monitoring well as to how the clothes fit. But six months down the road when it's suddenly summer I don't want to have an OMG moment with all the flab making an appearance again.
We will do this, especially with the rest of the world really watching what they eat all through January.

Glad to see you back, my neighbour to the south. You are so wise to get at this at only 5 pounds up. I was at that stage at the end of summer and kept saying I would reboot but never buckled down to it. Now after all the celebrations of December I've added another 7 to that 5. Now I really have to get serious.

The best thing I did was to get rid od all my clothes that got too big as I went down sizes. I only have clothes at goal size. As all my weight goes to my middle, pants are the big issue so I have to get back to the right pant size or continue to wear one pair with a bit of stretch to them.

Hi Bella, glad to see you too. I am feeling a lot better, I went to the doctor just before Christmas. The first days back on plan are rough. I am sort of easing into it as I was terribly ill with migraines the first week I did phase 1 when I first did IP and I don't want to go through that again.
I am exactly following phase 1 but for the first week I am adding a grapefruit, a half at breakfast and a half at lunch. I am hoping that will help eliminate the crash of sudden sugar withdrawals but will also likely delay the onset of ketois.
I will be on here lots but mostly on this thread and the over 50 one.

We have had a brutal winter so far, It snowed continuously since the beginning of November to beginning of December when the temps went way down to around -25 and stayed there until yesterday. The snow will stay till the spring because it will be below freezing all winter, then we will likely get another major dump in the spring.
It makes getting around so much more effort but once we get used to it again things go smoother.

Yep! I am with you. I want to lose the 5 I gained and go another 5 down for the new year.

So far it has been hard getting into ketosis. Yesterday all I wanted to do was sleep. I was really starving and sleepy. Went to bed at 8:30 and slept until 8:30 this morning!

Feeling better today, but I think I have one more day to get over the hump

Spent my morning making Raspberry Jelly for the next 7 days. It helps me to be prepared.

I am going to have to look at some of LizRs and Rainbow's recipes again:)

I guess I will start posting here versus the maintainers thread because I didn't stay in maintenance very long. I had a VERY rough couple of weeks food wise and I am back to reboot. I have also decided to drop another 10 as well. I don't think entering maintenance during the holiday season was a great idea. I was proud of myself for getting there but it is so easy to lose control with all of the parties, get aways and RELATIVES living with you and having JUNK everywhere all the time. I am so ready for my routine to get back to normal especially with my eating! It is nice to see familiar names Chloe222 and Cindy, Bellamack, patns and there were more but can't remember :) I am a bit nervous for day 2 and 3 but I will remember how great it feels once I get past those days.

Hgamroth- I'm with ya! I think we entered maintenance around the same time. The holidays were kind of tough. We can do this! I'm on my second day...and stayed on plan. However, it was tough because I see other food around, & I think "I could just wait until after the 1st!". Bad thinking... It's just food.

I'm with you all on the reboot. Been eating way too much these last 6 weeks. I will be officially restarting January 2nd next week to get rid of about 10 pounds.
Actually looking forward to ketosis again, although will miss my yogurt, fruit and wine.
And we booked a trip to Buenos Aires for this spring so I have an added incentive to refocus!

I am so ready to be in ketosis again! The carbs made me bloated and lazy. I also had my mother in law here to do all of my laundry, clean and generally stress me out. I still have a lot to learn! I struggled with picking a goal weight initially. I have NEVER been in the 150s so I originally felt that weight was good. Now that I am running, I want to be smaller especially in my lower belly so I have decided to lower my goal weight for that reason. I enjoy reading your posts and am learning from you! We CAN do this!

Good morning I peeps!
Seems like a few of us in the 12 lb club (sunny and pat,) can I join? But all of us here are in it together, no matter the number. The beauty is that we KNOW this can work, when compared to the uncertainty and doubt that I know I felt when I first joined this pricey endeavor, makes me fee assured.

healthyangie - Welcome back. I'm curious, not trying to offend but just wondering... why not try alternatives? I know the IP products are great, but so many have found so much more variety and better prices with alternatives. Will you be mixing at all or sticking strictly to IP products? Also, will you and hubby be using a coach, or will you be monitoring at home?
Delgen - did you hit ketosis yet? I don't think I have fully yet. I was hit with a weird stomach bug Friday into Saturday.... and I'm still trying to get to 100% protocol. (My tummy couldn't handle veggies, or anything more than tea yesterday.)
Chloe and momto2cs - how nice to touch base with you both again... I feel like I'm home with so many familiar names!
Bella - I'm with you in the snow. Hubby wants to go snowshoeing today... oh boy!
fit girl - impressive loss! Welcome!
hmamroth - welcome! I know that the holidays are tough. I had decided to recommit in October, and that's when I started really sliding, knowing in the back of my mind that "I'm restarting soon.... so I'll just indulge." - My first mistake! And then PINTEREST! My second mistake... sooooo many luscious recipes that I just had to try! lol I'm pinning low carb recipes now for my next P4 run.
MaMaZu - A trip is a fabulous incentive! Wish I could book one. tip toeing over to a travel site now....

May I join you? I've only been on maintenance for 2 weeks, and need a small reboot already!! I've had 2 cheat days..Christmas day & then the 27th. I can't believe how quickly the weight comes back on! I want to lose 5 - 10 lbs. Today is day 2 of my reboot. My DH says that I'm b**chy today:devil: Probably due to the headache & the fact that I just want to take a nap! :)

The more the merrier!!!! Let's just do it. Whether you're already re-booting or working up to start Jan 2...it's all good. What worked for me was getting a pedometer and pre-ordering a mix of IP and alternative products so I don't run out while I'm doing this. Got extra snacks and so on, so I don't freak out. I know myself enough to know that getting going the second time around might not be as easy as the first, so I'd rather have extra packets of something within protocol, than grab a bag of potato chips. I've been beetween ph1 and 2 for the last 4 days. It already feels better. Good luck everyone!

Day 1 of reboot is going well! I have drank and drank and drank my water, ate a big lettuce salad for lunch and I have a big batch of zucchini chips dehydrating for tomorrow. Last time my day 2 was my roughest day so I want to make sure I have options! I am also going to make some pudding bark just in case.

I don't know if I should be so happy to see all the familiar faces because it means we are all rebooting! But the whole western world is detoxing from carb overload this mouth anyway.

One thing I am doing differently is adding some exercise. It is so bitterly cold here and my work is so sedentary I am quite inactive so still had a very high fat% when I got to 130. So I got an excellent deal on a elliptical machine at Canadian Tire Boxing Day sale. Hubby finally got it together for me today and I am shocked but not really surprised on what small amounts of time I can handle. I will work on extending that.
Holly, thanks for mentioning the pudding bark. I had ordered boxes of puddings several months ago and could not remember now what I planned to use them for. Now I remember and will make some bark.

I have a question...for those rebooting, should we NOT exercise for the 1st 2 weeks again or can we continue what we have already been doing and add an extra packet after?

Hi there, Delgen!!!!! If all did not go as planned, and you are only up by 5...CONGRATS!!!

Holly, good to see you! I am on day three and I think I am finally in ketosis. I slept may way partly. I was so tired. But Today my hunger is gone, and I feel much better. I was good and made a big pot of veggies for soup. I measured 2 cups out into containers and got 7 lunches! I will use the IP chicken soup this week. Last night I made 7 days worth of Jelly for evening snacks.
I do better if I don't have to think about it.

You will do great. It is nice to see familiear faces. :)

Barbara

Ive got 10 pounds too. I have only gained about 5, but I want the extra cushion.

It looks like most of you are doing quite well getting restarted! :)

I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED in myself this evening. I made it thru 2 1/2 days & then blew it tonight. We got home from my brother's...long story with family conflicts where I'm caught in the middle...and I was so hungry that I just sat down & had supper with my family. Then...I felt quilty & pretty much continued to eat all evening...Christmas goodies...you name it. Deep down I wanted to eat whatever I wanted knowing that Jan 1st is looming & to just "get it out of my system.". I could just cry right now...how could I let this happen? My stomach really hurts. I must remember this feeling, and how much better it feels to be in control. I hope that you aren't disappointed in me...I feel like I've let you all down. I'm finding that it is more difficult to reboot-I was 100% OP before.

Here's to tomorrow...a brand new day...a brand new start. Thank you for all of your support...looks like I'm really going to need it!! Once again, this is a learning experience. My goal for 2013 is to reach my goal weight & then work like crazy to MAINTAIN...MAINTAIN...MAINTAIN!

I reached my goal just before Christmas but decided to delay PH 3 until after the holidays. I knew I would be cheating for a couple of days so it just didn't make much sense to complicate things. Sure enough, I gained 4 pounds in a week. I'm amazed at how quickly the pounds go back on, considering that it seems to take forever to lose them! :?:

I threw away or gave away all of the tempting leftovers and got back on PH 2 the day after Christmas. I've only had one cheat since then--turkey soup with some forbidden veggies--so we will see how the weigh-in goes this week. My scale at home shows that I am down 3.

To be honest, I'm not looking forward to maintenance. It seems to be problematic for so many people.

you cant gin that much fat in that little time. you are retaining water. try going on phase 1 for a day and then get back on phase 4. All is not lost. You just have some water because the glycogen you now begin to store carries water molecules with it. It is normal to gain about that much in water when you go into phase 4.

you should be fine....just get back on track!:hug::hug:

Starting day 3, but still don't feel like I'm in ketosis. It's been a weird few days with that stomach bug and then TOM hit this morning. Also I don't think I've been getting in enough veggies. Will work on that today.

I think I am in ketosis! I pretty much forgot breakfast this morning!

I am glad I am over that hump, and into phase 1. My scale says I have lost 4 pounds. First week is alwayswater. But my pants fit better :)

This is a good time to start...my university is on winter beak until Jan 16, and that gives me 2 2/1 weeks or so to get going. It is hard for me to prep meals, etc while I am working. Once I start teaching things get crazy. I teach mostly online graduate level classes and they are very intense. I grade from 40-70 papers every week! I do it to myself, but it is the best way I know how.

So I will probably spend weekends preparing meals for the week....especially lunches.

I think WUV posted a recipe in the 3rd? recipe thread. Basically you mix a pudding packet with slightly less water and pour over a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze. I love the cocoa mint pudding and also chocolate mixed with cold coffee! Yum!

I'm not sure about this either. I plan to not workout while in phase 1 so that I don't stall my losses. Let me know what you all do...

I think I am going to stop exercising for 2 weeks except for the Just Dancing with my daughter. We love our dancing! :) Sorry you had a rough night! You can get right back to it and remember how good you feel after a week or 2. The cravings and hunger go away. You can do it!

Well... I ruined it!
I've been working on a remodeling project all day... did great with breakfast and lunch, but waited too long before dinner. Just snacked on several handfuls of crackers while waiting for dinner! Grrrrr I'm so angry at myself! not to mention bloated, emotional, and exhausted. Also depressed. This time of year is always hard on me.... extended family issues, and no matter how much I try, it does hurt and I can't turn it off.
I guess tomorrow is another day.... I just need some support and a fresh perspective.

This time of year is hard for me too. but today it is over, right? Find a new and yummy recipe and try that for today or tomorrow's meal. You know this works, so stop the emotions and just get back on. You can see the results of a cheat (in your words, bloated, emotional an exhausted). So try to learn from it. And it could have been worse.

And reframe your thinking and choose different words. You did not RUIN anything.

Your safety net (IP and THIS forum) has caught you. You can do it.:hug::hug:

Delgen- congrats on getting into ketosis!! I cannot wait to get there! Like you, I teach courses at a college, too (accounting & business though)! However, I go back tomorrow for meetings...with classes starting on the 7th. I find that work helps take my mind off of eating, so hopefully that will help me this week!

Hgamroth - Thank you for your support, too. I'm looking forward to not having the cravings! My girls have the Dance 3 wii game that is a lot of fun...talk about a workout! :carrot:

ChileheadKen - Hey buddy...thanks so much for kicking my butt back into gear! You are right in that every day is a fresh start...today is mine (3rd time is a charm, right?). You will do great in maintenance...sounds like you have it worked out with your P1 & 2 days after a cheat. After my reboot, I'll have to work on minimizing my cheats to maybe an ice cream cone or something simple to start with! :) Glad to hear that your P90X is going OK...it is rough...especially that first week - hang with it and you WILL see excellent results...I just love Tony!! Remember to "Bring It" to every workout!

Dakin - You sound like me lately...doing well during the day...then eating off program foods in the evening. I do feel your pain...this morning I feel very bloated, hungover & etc. But with a new year...we can do this. Let's work together this first week to get back on track! Last night I partied pretty hard...kind of a "last time before my reboot" & ate & drank waayyy too much. My scale yelped when I stepped on it this morning & told me to get off! :o But seriously, I think that it is all a mindset, let's just do it! Like Delgen said, lets learn from it, reframe our thinking & start fresh! :)

 Hugs to all of you for your support!

Happy 2013 to everyone!

As you may have learned from my previous post, I have not been doing well with my reboot & maintenance. It seems as though I'd start my day strong, and then by the end of the day I actually find my self mentally rationalizing that it is ok to have one last cheat. On the 30th we went to my brother's & we celebrated his new years eve birthday with food & drinks...then I overeate because it was my "last time." Then last night, I just figured that since I wasn't in ketosis anyway, why not just go out & celebrate it & start fresh with the new year. It's not even that I was hungry...I just wanted to taste everything that I have given up. Well...enough of that mentality. Today I get tough & start to feel better. I just hope the weight comes off like it did the first time I was on phase 1.

Some things that I have learned...
1.) Pizza is really salty. I ate some with my family last night & learned that I'm not missing anything there. I asked them if they thought it was salty & they said that they thought it was great. Hmmm...so maybe my taste buds have changed some. The lava cakes that came with the pizza...tasted like burned chocolate so I let them have mine.
2.) Do not start maintenance around a holiday. I will most likely stay on Phase 1 until after Valentine's Day. In the past, that was another week/month that I would indulge in LOTS of chocolate & sweets.
3.) Junk food just doesn't taste as good as you think it will.
4.) I must limit my cheat to one day a week (instead of my 4); better yet to some small indulgence like a dessert at only one meal. I know that I was just mentally anticipating my cheat day way too much, so I didn't know how to stop. I've learned my lesson, now it's time to get back on track.
5.) I will continue to journal all of my food! What a way to stay on track. Usually the night before, I would select my 3 IP food items (which I store downstairs) & bring them up to the kitchen & write them down in my journal. I then looked forward to those on that next day. I always saved my snack (usually a pudding) for my bedtime snack - that felt like an indulgence to me - & I didn't mind when my husband would eat m&ms' in front of me!

Ok...I typed way to much. I'm just excited to get back to basics & to feel good...no GREAT again! 1st day of Reboot, here I come!!! Once again thanks for all of your support. It helps me so much to hear how you are all doing. Take care, and lets make today a great one!

Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone had a great New Year!! In my coach's office last week, she mentioned something about a paper with foods to avoid in phase 4. She talked about dried fruits and nuts as some of the foods on the list, but she didn't have a copy of the list for me to take. Does anyone know/have the list of foods she is talking about? Or is there any other foods I should add to the no nuts, no dried fruits list? Thanks so much!!

Day 4 for me today. So far so good. I was hungry this morning around 10:00, drinking some hot water seemed to help out. They fit of course...just not as loose!

Well.... I sort of fit into this group, so thought I'd introduce myself. :) I originally set my weight goal at 150, then after discussion with my Dr. decided that things would be 'good enough' when I got to 155-157lbs. I reached 155 mid December and decided to phase out, finishing P3 on December 28th and having my first fun day that same day at our extended family get-together. So I've only been in 'maintenance proper' for 1 week.

However, even in that brief time, I realize that I can't maintain at the 155lbs... when I have a standard P3 type breakfast and small amount of carb with dinner I shoot up to 157-159lbs. I can get it off by going on P1 - but this past week has been a yo-yo of days eating on maintenance followed by a day on P1 in order to try to stay close to 155lbs. Those mornings when the scale shows 158-159 make me anxious, as there's no way I want to slide back up over 160lbs.

So...I decided that I needed to re-think my goal weight, so that when that glycogen does come back, the few added lbs doesn't slide me up into a range that I find unacceptable and feel so anxious about. Today I'm back on P1 indefinitely, working towards a new goal weight of 145lbs. I've decided that 'good enough' won't do!

Hope you all are having a great day.

fitgirl2012
01-04-2013, 06:54 PM
Evepet - Well, we pretty much have the same story!! I did surpass my goal down to 111 pounds, then gained some of it back on P3....however, it was then pretty stable for the month of December (while I was on P3) always at 113.1 (and that was really nice!). I only had one week of Maintenance before my cheat day...then it was all downhill from there. My first cheat day came...then my second, third & fourth all in the same week. I don't know what came over me...I ended up gaining 14 pounds during that week stint. I just think that I looked way too forward to my Christmas Cheat day. I've been OP since the 1st. I haven't weighed myself yet, I just plan to do that on Mondays.

Like you, I've decided to go below my goal weight to 110 lbs (just a couple more than before), so that when the glycogen does come back, the few added pounds won't bother me. For me, I've always felt really good being around 112 pounds. Plus it just gives me a few extra pounds to "play with!"

I don't know about you...but I sure do miss the P3 breakfasts!! They were wonderful. I'm thinking that I have learned my lesson!! :)

Hang in there!! Do you know if taking motrin is ok these first few days? The owner of the clinic told me that that was fine when I first started this program in August...and my weight loss was pretty good that first week. Just wondering....good job of staying OP. The way I look at it, the better I stick with it...the faster I get to P3 breakfasts again! :)

It has been easier for me to deal with getting into ketosis while being at work because i am too busy to "think." Today was the hardest but pain reliever, tea and salt worked. Stay strong this weekend!

Doing great now. I had WI today and lost 4.5, which is more than when I had my very first IP WI!

It was worth all of the discomfort. Keep strong guys! It is so worht it,

My coach thinks I will have one more week on Phase 1 and then 1 - 2 weeks of phase 2. Then three....I have forgotten what they each entail!

Keep strong! Stay 100%! This program works. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

I'm at the airport with my sibs getting ready for a very intense weekend, will be making some very difficult medical decisions for another brother. I may end up doing a little Phase 2 while gone, just see how it goes.
Have a great weekend...

I'm heading into maintenance soon, and I was wondering if one of those spreadsheet trackers for maintainers would have been helpful. Like the ones that say 30 by Valentines, only this would be Goal by The First Day of Spring, meaning we would put our weight changes in every week whether gained or lost, with the purpose that we hit and keep our goal weight until March 21 (or whenever).

I'm just wondering if having something like that would have been something you would have used and would it have helped to stay on track?

Fishette- when I first hit maintenance we did a couple challenges through fat secret for those who had hit maintenance. The goals were: 1. To not have more than one free day per week 2. To track at least one day 3. To exercise at least 30 min 3x week 4. To be conscious of food seperation 5. To do a phase 1 day if the scale read above the 'ceiling' number.
We did a few challenges at 6 weeks a piece and it was very helpful to me in keeping on track with maintaining. I would highly encourage it as it was so very helpful in developing good maintenance habits.

So... I did go off phase 1 for Christmas. Got things back in line but not Phase 1. With my muscle issues I seem to have a choice between exercise or Phase 1. And in the interest of health I'm going to choose exercise. I'm subbing vega shakes for Ip shakes, eating a couple servings of fruit and a couple servings of fruit. Simply bars instead of IP bars... And nuts if extra calories are warranted. Part of maintenance that really threw me a curve ball was the feast/ famine mentality. Really exacerbated a binge eating habit that now needs to be broken. I'm focused on losing the weight though and hope that it's still okay if I post in here with you guys?

Hey ladies , been away for a month or so. I am re-booting too. I had rebooted in October....got back to my goal weight...maintained a few weeks, but just returned from a 10 day vacation (only up a couple of pounds). So I am dumping those pounds and hopefully another 10 (going for a size 6).

Technically I have been on maintenance for about 20 months...I have had to reboot quite a bit during that time, but with that said...I am still near my goal weight (or maybe at it by today)...waiting a full week to weigh and see.

This works if you stay accountable. Must return to phase 1 (2X aweek) must weigh-in, but life is hard.

Good luck everyone in your reboots:carrot:

Morning all.
I'm checking in.... finding it more of a struggle to stay on protocol that I anticipated. It's not that I'm eating fast food, ice cream and chips or anything sinful like that, but I'm having a hard time giving up some p4 standards, like yogurt, berries, nuts... etc. I'm also dealing with a lot of headaches and some nausea that I don't remember from the first time (well, the head aches yes, but this feels different). I'm wondering if I'm dealing with the remains of that bug from last weekend still.
Each day is a fresh start. I guess we'll see how I'm doing on weigh in day - Wednesday.
Wishing everyone well.

Barbara, phase two is a great idea. You will still be in Ketosis, and it's much better than throwing IP to the wind.
I have been in your shoes with a brother in law...We had to place him in a nursing home when he was just 54. It was a very trying time, but it ended well. Those decisions are hard, and I wish you the best this weekend.

Oh course you can post in here, don't you dare go away!

I am up 10 pounds after a long celebration of Christmas, actually a long celebration of December I guess I should call it.

Back on track, I don't have any roadblocks now for quite a while, no vacations planned etc.Of course everyone will be dieting like mad at work for the immediate future as compared to the celebrating like mad for the past month.

What I need to work on is to continue to track my food intake after I get to 130 again. A big problem was I never really increased my intake when I got to goal before and was probably in starvation mode because it was easy to skip things while incredibly busy. As soon as I had time to relax I really kicked back.
I realized that I had to rethink maintenance as i wnt back to tracking on myfitnesspal as I have been back on phase 1 for the past few days and am actually surprised at how much of the right things I can eat.

I am not in a panic at getting the 10 pounds off quickly because it will be at least three months before we come out from under all the extra layers we have to pile on because of the cold. But I will need to have it off by May or so to fit in my summer clothes again.

I can see where it would be easy to slip into the habit of not eating enough, especially when you're busy and preoccupied with other things. While it's not the solution, it's somehow easier just rely on the basics of what we got used to while activly dieting, rather than to take the time (and aggravation) of figuring out all the aspects that make maintenance work long term for us individually.

Like you I'm not in a hugh rush to lose the last 10 lbs... nor am I really expecting to lose it quickly, given that it's the final -10 lbs and I've had a slow weight loss all the way through. I've even considered using IP's Alternative Protocol for this last -10lbs, which would allow 1 serving of dairy and fruit/day. I'm not quite sure yet... I'm getting P1 back in swing (Day 2 here) and then I'll decide whether to stick 'strictly' P1 or swing into the Alternative Protocol. One way or the other, I'll get there. :)

Hello fellow IPers! Getting a late start today, still dragged down by this cold and to be honest depression that I did not make it through day 1. Went on a sugar rampage last night. What IS wrong with me???!! I lost 74 ponds, lowered my goal wt, and now I can't (or won't?) get back on track. Did go to my WI and I was up to 151.2 lb (+ 15 lb). That's a heck of a lot of extra calories in 2 weeks. :o:o:o (1 for every 5lb gained)
I don't think there is any more "bad" foods in my house and I will commit to my IP buddies that I WILL NOT BUY ANY FORBIDDEN FOODS TODAY.
I will check back during the day if I feel the urge to go off plan. I cannot do this alone. I used to hand out on the 100%OP posts, but don't think I'm worthy of it right now.

PS I guess I have to change my ticker....:(

That is the biggest step in the right direction, getting rid of all the fobidden foods. I am just finishing up the second day of totally being on plan; today was much easier than yesterday. You will get on track and do this.

evepet, I got my order from lowcarb canada very quickly and was glad to get some quest bars. But I must have hit some button wrong and ended up with chocolite bars. I had one and it was yummy but then I realized it had next to no protein. So buried them at the bottom of my supplies. I am not sure when I can use them. They are low carb but with no protein they are really just like another candy bar.

I am interested in your debating about going on the alternative protocol to finish, I know you don't mean using alternatives but the protocol diabetics use.
You likely noticed that Bilster who is also from Alberta mentioned on another thread about being on it although she is not diabetic. Her losses are the same as when she was on the regular protocol. I thought that was interesting but is not an option for me as I can't tolorate wheat and can have only very limited amounts of dairy.

As far as I'm aware, thelowcarbgrocery.com was forced to stop selling the Quest line of protein bars. I forget exactly what it was all about, but they for some reason don't satisfy the requirements of the Cdn government - I can't recall now what gov't body got involved... but I spoke to someone at thelowcarbgrocery.com and they were forced to seal up all their unsold stock and return them to the supplier! I believe the problem is/was that there's some ingredient used in it that isn't yet approved for use by the health authorities that examine such things here in Canada. That's why I was really shocked to find them still being sold at Popeye Supplements! The authorities haven't caught up with them there as yet.

I've noticed the ChocoLite bars too - I believe they each have just 9g of protein. Each of them has a high fiber content, and some sugar alcohols, so the net carb is very good...in fact if it was just the carbs & protein to consider, you could almost double up on them/serving, but unfortunately you'd end up with higher calories and fat than would be acceptable.

Yes, I did notice Bilster's post about using IP's Alternative Protocol. That's partially what gave me the idea. I really enjoyed having some fruit and greek yogourt while on P3 and this would be a way to stay on a P1 protocol but be a bit less restricted. I may do a test run on it for a week or two just to see how my weight loss on it compares to regular P1. I'm still not sure whether I'm mildly affected by foodstuffs that contain grain/flour, or whether back at that point I was just stalled in general. While on P3 I followed the rules and included a grain-based complex carb in my breakfast... sometimes oatmeal, sometimes an english muffin, sometimes a serving of a gluten-free cereal I have. I didn't seem to have too much of a problem until I went into actual maintenance and ate some foods that contained sugar. So sugar may be more of a red flag for me than grain... and I don't believe I have any difficulty with dairy - at least not that I'm aware of at this point. I'd be sticking to ricotta cheese or greek yogourt.

Sorry - I'm rambling!

So I'm almost through Day 2 of my return to P1 and things were fine today. Again, not overly hungry or experiencing any serious cravings, so that was a big bonus. I'm soon to enjoy a warmed up ChocoRite Chocolate Deluxe protein shake, and curl up with a good book until it's time for bed. :)

I didn't really indulge in alcohol over Christmas, so I guess my bloat is whine weight!

evepet, I did get the Quest bars from lowcarb canada, I wonder if it is an Ontario thing?
The chocolite bars only have 2 grams of protein, at least the flavour I got.
When I get to phase 3 again I am really going to have to take advantage of oatmel, it is a grain that agrees with me. I cold eat greek yogurt for 3 meals a day and be happy but anymore than one or two servings a week and I get sinus infections.

evepet, I did get the Quest bars from lowcarb canada, I wonder if it is an Ontario thing?
The chocolite bars only have 2 grams of protein, at least the flavour I got.
When I get to phase 3 again I am really going to have to take advantage of oatmel, it is a grain that agrees with me. I cold eat greek yogurt for 3 meals a day and be happy but anymore than one or two servings a week and I get sinus infections.

Ok - now I see that you bought the Quest bars from lowcarbcanada - not thelowcarbgrocery.com. I actually haven't ordered much from lowcarbcanada. They messed up my first order pretty badly (several unsuitable substitutions), and I decided to stay with their competition. But I do recall them opening a location on the west coast, so can see where that could be better for you. I would think they would be subject to the same gov't regulations about importing products internationally though.... probably the authorities just haven't caught up to them (like Popeye Supplements). :D The Chocolite bars I see at thelowcarbgrocery.com all have 9g protein - many different flavors available - here's the link http://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com/catalog/chocolite-c-132_23_283.html

Oh OK, now I see I was totally mixed up. For some reason I started getting emails from low carb canada about them opening on the west coast. I just assumed (wrongly) they were part of thelowcarbgrocery as iIhave ordered lots from them and get emails from them. I did notice that the package came fron Calgary.
The chocolite bars I got are not from healthsmart. It does not say what company it is, just says chocolite. That is why the protein is so low, they are not the same ones as I had looked at on lowcarbgrocery and actually I hadn't ordered them anyway.
So glad I got the Quest bars but will not use that company anymore. Good thing you read more carefully than I do! It is even worse as I work as a reading specialist!

Hi, I try not to weigh everyday but I am. :)~ I began my reboot at 190.8 and today at I'm 183.4...so I'm pretty content with it. (it's only been since 1/1/13). Can't wait to be back down to goal. Maintenance is hard and I will need to make some adjustments next time I begin it...

Be well and have a great OP day~

Hi everyone,

I'm glad to see that I'm in very good company needing to take off some regained weight. I tried rebooting on my own with alternative products for several months and had limited, short-lived success. I think what really derailed me was not continuing to see my coach after I got to maintenance. It seems like as soon as I lost that external accountability, I've really struggled. It was just too easy to say, "Oh well. I kinda blew it today. I'll restart again tomorrow." The trouble was, that kept happening for several months!

I did see my coach once a month for a few months at her suggestion but then she said I didn't need to come back and I thought I could do it alone. Wrong. I finally realize that I will continue to need to see her maybe once a month for a long while, maybe even a year or two. That way, if I do start to regain, I will be confronted with it and hopefully deal with it when it's small instead of big.

I'm on day 6. I've been feeling pretty good physically except I'm hungry a lot. I'm working hard on not feeling sorry for myself or guilty because I've regained. It helps to read what ya'll have written. I know I'm not alone in my struggle. I look forward to working with you all to get back down to goal!

Do not feel sorry for yourself, you gained some weight back, think positive that you can lose the weight with a positive attitude. Most of us are in the same situation after the holidays. We can do it

Hi Karen, for hunger try egg whites...and yeah, there are a bunch of us in here! If we weren't working to lose it again than we would be in trouble! We're all doing this together.

Hey Karenfromtexas!
Yes, many if us are struggling. Good to see you back. I agree with you in that I feel the area that ideal protein fails is once you are done, bye bye so long, deal with it, here is a piece of paper with maintenance, good luck. I actually think there should be a weekly weigh in option for people and should be recommended that youbweigh in at least every two weeks. Just my thoughts- I know the accountability was key to success as is with other programs that require weighing in front of another person. I have started, fell off wagon, restarted about 10 times or more over the past several months. I too am on day 6 (again) and egg beaters egg whites have been a god send for the hungries. Good luck and I hope you stay active on these boards.:smug:

Hi darbs and cap. Good to see some names I recognize... :).

I'm on a reboot too. Should go well, because my next fun time is March 6 (Ireland)...and I'm not going back overweight!!,

Now I'm off to read this post.

:)

Darbs, I think you are doing fantastic. I just basically planned for a reboot after Christmas. I don't see reboot as a bad thing...whatever works!

Delgen...awesome loss!!! you'll be back to phase 3 breakfasts in no time!!

MaMaZu...thinking of you. Good job of staying OP despite what you are going thru!

Fishette...Congrats on getting to maintenance! I think that some sort of challenge may have been helpful, however i also think that i just had to get it out of my system. I am interested in doing something along these lines once i get to maintenace again...great idea!

capricious...WELCOME BACK!!! I think that your 6 week challenge would be an excellent tool to keep us on track....maybe we can incorporate both your & Fishette's ideas. Good job of keeping up with the exercise!

darbs7...way to keep yourself on track...esp considering those vacations!

Dakin...hope you get feeling better. Once you do...just jump in & commit to it - you'll be glad that you did! You are right that each day is a fresh start.

I have really found that in the last 20 months of maintenance that rebooting is the ideal way to keep it off...I had to thrust myself into a mindset that rebooting is necessary. I am at my goal weight, but looking to lose another 10 pounds and where a size six

Yes, "rebooting" is necessary- the trick is to do it when there is a manageable amount of weight to lose so it doesn't feel so hopeless and out of control. I am so mad at myself for letting 15 pounds creep up on me because I am having such a hard time sticking to phase 1 this time around. Such a mental component to all of this. Glad you have found your groove Darbs. You seem to have it figured out. My weak time of day is in the late evening - once I am able to relax- I'm like " give me a break you dumb as_, just go to bed!" but sometimes I listen to the evil carbs and say to myself " oh what the heck, eat some cake and popcorn and crackers and wine and chocolate and start tomorrow!"

How is everyone in reboot land doing today?

Today is day 7 for me. So far, I feel good and in control. I saved and printed a bunch of new recipes that I found on this site yesterday. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to experiment and post great recipes!

I made the English muffin recipe out of an oatmeal packet and toasted it. I put some cinnamon and Splenda on it and some ICBINB spray. It was pretty good but a bit dry. I will experiment with this and see if I can get it a little more moist. I used 2 egg whiltes & 1/4 tsp of baking powder. I wonder if I need to add some water... Any ideas?

~*~*~*Wishing all a fabulous Sunday and sending stay OP vibes! *~*~*~

Hi Dakin! No offense at all. I'm actually into day 6 with DH and I am using some of his alternatives along with the regular IP foods. I am really surprised at the equality of the foods from Nashua and IP - and that there is more of a variety - and they are 1/3 the PRICE!!!!!! I guess I want to keep my coach and I don't think they'd be willing to coach if I went complete alternative. I'm going to see them the first time since I restarted, tomorrow. I will admit to them of mixing in the alternatives. Interesting though - I've only lost 2 lbs in 6 days this time. I do have a sinus infection and am on antibiotics so I don't know if it's that or maybe the alternatives - I only have 10 lbs at most to lose so maybe that's it??? Not sure - we'll see. How are you doing?

Day 7 for me (sort of). I began 1/1 and then on the 2nd my in-laws came to visit and I stayed on track..then they left and my DH went out...SO, I dug into the NY rolls they brought up and slathered them with butter and cheese...YUM!!! I got a big belly ache and got back on track on the 3rd and have been 100% since then...The rolls were worth it.

Today I'm down 7.4 from 1/1. Still have a ways to go.

Everyone have a great day!!!

I think that these last 5 pounds will take a little longer to get off!

Hi Ladies

Sorry I was MIA there for a while. I was upstate w/o laptop and lousy internet. Drove me crazy!!Thanks for thinking about me and wondering how I've been doing. I'm so glad to be part of this party!!!
I'm doing OK, but I have to say...this time around...is a whole different world than first time. OMG I just have to work harder at sticking to this program. My next WI will be on Weds, so I'll let you know. I had 2 slips, but got back each time the next day. I'm doing fine today as well. It's not been disastrous, but could be better. I'd like to say I could post on the 100% OP thread, but I'd be an imposter :0) I will get this right...I'm very close...and my slips are nothing compared to my former self, so I have to keep calm.

SO glad to be back. See ya

Thank you Sunny! Today is day seven for me- I am trying to weigh every Friday morning so am anxious to see results on Friday.. This past mon-Friday, it looks like I lost about 5 pounds of "wine weight" as newenglander put it- indulged horribly over holidays- have to admit that I feel better now that I am through the carb withdrawal headaches. Feel so much less bloated and the bursitis in my hip doesn't hurt when I am on plan. Funny how my body repeatedly let's me know how good this diet makes me feel and how horrible a carbohydratevrich diet makes me feel yet i still struggle.:dizzy: I am going to do it this time! I'm not sure if this is a great tip, but I do save my unrestricted IP snack for around 9:00 - 9:30 p.m. I just know that I'll be having my pudding at that time...so while my family is snacking on popcorn or whatever, it doesn't bother me because I know that I'm going to have my yummy snack at 9:00 p.m. & I look forward to it. (Since I have my snack at night, my afternoon snack usually is 2 HB egg whites with 1/4 tsp of olive oil (out of our 2 tsp daily allotment) and salt with a cup of hot tea. This really holds me over to supper. Sounds crazy, but I actually like it!)

So, I officially lost 7.4 this week. I have 23.4 to go to get to my ultimate goal of 160 OR 18.4 and I'll be at 165. I'll be back to a size 8 and 165 and everything will be really comfortable... As some of you know my end date is my trip to Ireland at the beginning of March. This should give me time to reach my 160...either way I'll be less than what I am now!!!

Keep going!!!

I got back yesterday from a very difficult trip to handle some family medical issues for a brother that has had a long history of drug abuse etc.
Fortunate though to have lots of support with family and friends.
Stayed basically Phase 2, so am back to Phase 1 today. I have been pleasantly surprised at how well I've felt so far during this reboot as I had a very difficult two weeks the first go round of IP.
Cold morning here in San Diego for us but should get to about 70-degrees today.

This really holds me over to supper. Sounds crazy, but I actually like it!)

Thanks for the egg white tip. Thats a good one.

I've also been having my pudding or a shake at night and I look forward to it as well. Last night I made the jello. Had it around 11 with a fake egg cream (ice, sparkling water, 4 oz unsweetened vanilla flavored almond milk, and WF chocolate syrup) It's a NY thing, so you have to like that kinda drink..but boy, it worked for me!) I had to resist the urge to WI this morning. Not a good idea! It's amazing how I turn into a WI freak...

Have a good one :0)

I had my first weigh in since I started my reboot: Down 4.6 lbs. I don't know about inches lost because she didn't measure me last week but my pants are much looser. I'm very happy with my results. It has been worth the effort of the last week. Onward and downward (on the scale, of course)!

Hello maintainers,

I have been a lurker here mostly. All you regulars are great, kept me motivated all along since Aug. I started maintainence phase the last week; I have a question on the net carbs or total carbs per day. I know recomended amt of protien is half your weight in grams. Is there one for carbs?

Thanks!

The recommended range for carbs/day is between about 25 and 40. And that's net carbs - so subtract the fiber. Also IP policy (forget now where I read this, but I did on some IP-related website) is to subtract 1/2 of the sugar alcohols from the carbs as well. Where you fall on that 25-40 scale will depend upon your carb sensitivity. Those who are really carb sensitive will lose better staying on the low end of the range.

Karenfromtexas - Wooohooo...great loss!!

Coffeebean - I'm with you, I feel much better this week, too!!

Vidyab - New Englander is right...there is another Maintenance thread that you should consult with. However, while I was maintaining, I asked a similar question and was told that, while in Maintenance (or phase 4) your carbs could be between 100 - 150. (Keeping your total carbs close to 100 is pretty low). When I kept my carbs in that range, I was able to maintain quite well. Once again, everyone's body handles carbs differently (& it may also depend upon how active you are)...so that will be something that you may learn from trial & error. Once again, I would recommend asking the maintainers this question on their thread. Good luck to you in maintenance!! :)

How are our other rebooters doing? Delegan, Holly, Sunnymae?

I've been right on track. I haven't weighed myself lately, but am feeling pretty good. I did go shopping in my closet last weekend & fit nicely into some size 4's and a size 2! :carrot: At this point, I'm just wanting to lose the couple extra pounds that will come back once I hit phase 3 again!

Great goin' Karen , Determined and ladies!!! I'm right behind you. I have not had any weight loss today, but my experience (thank goodness after all this time) has me positive and not too freaked out. It will come off I feel a tremendous amount of inflammation and crap needs to shed. I'm also on an anti-parasite regimen for two months (all natural) and then another 2 months of replenishing flora, so I know I'm throwing all kinds of crap out of my body right now.

I was sitting with my coffee this morning and had this weird lightbulb moment. I'm not comparing myself to my former weight anymore. Rather, my new normal high weight is 135 as opposed to 162. When I was 162 the thought of ever weighing 135 was like a dream. Now it's my super high limit!! So...losing 13.5 pounds from here (BTW I'm at 133.4 today) is what a normal person would do at this time. I don't know if I'm explaining myself clearly...but the point is not to use the old weight as the comparison anymore...it's a formula for saying..."well it's not as bad as it used to be", so somewhere in my head I could justify another few pounds higher, before I freak! Please add your thoughts to this if you like. I'm curious if you've had some similar thoughts.

Have a great reboot day everyone!

Determined - good luck with your weigh in tomorrow! Regardless, if you've been 100% OP you'll see results...if not tomorrow, then soon! :)

Sunnymae - hopefully the regimen works for you. Also, I think that resetting your goals is a good thing...if it keeps you in a "happy place" in the future. I agree that at times, we don't think much of that extra pound...but then they do start to add up. Not a bad plan. Good luck in reaching your new goal weight! :)

Happy to see all those great losses!
Had a syntrax vanilla bean with cinnamon for breakfast - YUMMY!!!!

Refuse to look at that scale until I'm feeling better and off the antibiotics!

DH is down a total of 16 lbs!!! He's looking good!

sunny - my view changed also. My initial goal last October was 150 because that seemed to be where my body wanted to be and I could maintain. I always had the plan to go back on plan this January to try and lose a few more for cushion sake only (and didn't really believe I would be able to maintain it) - but after living in my 150 lb body for a few months - I'm looking more towards 135 - MAYBE. My real goal is a comfortable 4 and a lose 6. I'm in my mid 40's and too thin looks horrible on me. So yeah - when I realized it could be done, my thoughts were different on where I should end.

I feel the same, I no longer think of myself as someone who was in the 180's or even 170's. I think 155 is way too heavy and that's what I weighed just in the past week. Last summer I got down to 142 and with my particular build and age, it looked pretty good. I was between a size 4 and 6, pretty well toned. Obviously didn't keep it and just had my wk 2 WI and am down 3.8 pounds in 2 weeks. But I have the picture of me at 142 floating in my mind constantly and know that getting to 135 will allow me to regain glycogen stores and settle in at 139-142ish long term. Anyway, point is, like you, I don't see my heavier weight as my previous weight any longer, it is pretty far in the rear view mirror.

Keep going!!!

oh New Englander,

We went to Ireland last March to celebrate our 30th anniversary, I loved it. I am Irish and still have relatives there, but this was my first trip over, you know with work and family and money it took awhile to get there. We absolutely loved it :) Kinsale was my favorite place, my family is from the Cashel area, so we stayed there too. Dublin was fun to walk around and go to the Guiness factory. lol Galway we bought hand knit wool sweaters too.

Well, I stepped on the scale this morning & lost another 2.5 lbs! I am now exactly what I weighed on Christmas morning (113.1)...before I was so naughty! So it took me 10 days to lose the lbs I gained after those 4 major cheat days. Note to self for the future...

I'm still planning on losing a few more lbs for that cushion & glycogen replenishment (since I gained 2 lbs from it last time). And I have plenty of IP foods to do it...so we'll see how that goes. So I completely understand those new goals.

Oh...last night I went shopping, and they had WF on sale for half off!! Jackpot...I loaded up!!!

Have an AWESOME OP day!! :)

Hello I Peeps!
I managed to lose 5.5 this week even though I had several stumbles.
Yesterday and today I've been keeping 100% OP, so I'm looking forward to next weeks weigh in. Now I'm just 7 above my low of 149 - however, like many of you, I'm seriously considering shooting for 137 so that when I level out I'll be around 142. I've never - in my adult life - been that weight. But, having been so successful on IP I think I may be able to do it. My only hesitation is my age... nearing the end of my 40's. That being said, I think I look better now that I have in 20 years.
Sending my positive energy to you all ~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Dakin - congrats on the 5.5 pounds!! Regardless of the goal you are setting...do what allows you to be happy & feel great! :)

Chloe - thank you for your concern..you are not being too personal! I am small boned and feel the best about myself around this weight. Although, I do know that I have to know "when to say when" with weight loss. 2 years ago, I did get down to 105 & looked way too thin...my family & coworkers were starting to worry - but, once again, I felt great. I was eating a lot & working out regularly. ( I think that this last paragraph has just hit me!). I will most likely be phasing off in about a week (we'll see).

Have a great day! I'm off to my daughter's Geography Bee, followed by her basketball practice, followed by her cheer dance practice. Tonight...I'll be ready to veg out & watch some Grey's Anatomy!! :)

When I was 29 I dieted down to 116 and my hip bones hurt when I'd go to sleep - just laying on my mattress they dug in a little. I have an average build and tended to be athletic. I got this low almost by accident. I was in a situation where I was working 7 days a week as a manager in a company where the union workers went on strike, so I had 12 hour days, 7 days a week till the strike was over. I was on WW (highest weight at that time was 141) when the strike began and the diet was down to a routine, so I just kept it up. I didn't stay there long, I went back to 121-122 and then just stayed in my 120's and low 130's till I was 39. Then weight began creeping up...Perimenopause hit along with many life changes. Ancient history now.
Was concerned for you, you wee thing!

Thanks for checking in on all of us fitgirl! My reboot has been slowed as per my doctor's orders. I have been having some health issues and went to my doctor. He wants me to make sure I am eating dairy and fruits so I am living on phase 3 and exercising my tail off. I am (now) content with this and since I have been running again I am VERY happy and feeling pretty good. I have to see another dr in the near future to try to figure out what is going on with me. So, my goal now is to maintain around 150.

Great progress New Englander ! You definitely will be passing that goal for Ireland - so what specialty kind of clothes do they wear in Ireland? I know Scottland has those cool kilts ... Are you a golfer? I heard their courses are fantastic!

Fitgirl - I was also a little surprised at your goal number but if you feel good, look good and healthy - then go for it. Everyone is different!

Oh how I yearn for the days my hip bones were spotted :) I can at least feel them now but I do remember way back when I would lay down and they would pop up - oh well!

Dakin - amazing loss! Keep it going!

Chloe - funny you should mention 142! After giving birth, that was my lowest and actually my best look but it was very hard for me to maintain. My body seems to love 150! I'm hoping with IP I have the tools to get there again and stay there ...

I resisted a WI for 2 days and finally broke down this morning! Down 1 lb but still up over 2 since I started over a week ago. Disappointing but I'm going to stick with it!

HGA - sounds like you have a rythm going! Good for you! Personally I loved phase 3!

NSV - not for me but my kid (12 year old boy) - we started "Family Pilates" last week and neither my boy or my DH could do the 100. My DH can still only do 50 but my boy did all 100!!! He's very athletic but I wanted to help him with core strength and he's really doing good! He's always been a healthy eater so this is my last step in making sure he has life time habits that are good for him ..

DH - down 17.5 lbs! Belly is going away and he's really liking the results, if not the diet :D

Question of the day - What type of exercises are you doing to help tone those muscles and how often? I can't over exercise on P1 of IP so I'm looking for ideas to get really toned again without stopping my losses.

It is amazing how bone structure plays into it, that is why I can't look at other's my height weight. I had my doctor do my bone "size", she uses a machine, I think similar to an ultrasound and my bones were XL, she said she had never had anyone be XL before me, so that would explain me being very thin at 150 lbs. I also have size 10 feet. When I first did IP in 2011, I got down to 164 lbs and everyone said I looked to thin. When I married 31 yrs ago I weighed 130 lbs and I was skinny, yet never wore less than size 10 because of bone structure. So, each person has to look at their own structure, I have broader shoulders (competitive swimmer ) than hubby who is 6'4"....just don't compare, it can get discouraging :)

Awe yes! Irish whiskey - yum!!

I don't watch but I thinks it's a great idea to pop it on one night for some insight. I'm trying very hard to instill in my son that you catch any weight issue in the butt before it get's too big. It's interesting being "older" parents because that opens my son up to hearing things like "Man my knees are killing me" or "Not with my shoulder I can't" and lately "Got to lose a few more pounds.." I don't want him to think dieting is a way of life, but that taking care of himself and being careful is.

About exercise: I just got out of a "boot" for a torn tendon in my ankle, this whold ordeal has gone on since the end of Aug. up until then I walked 3 miles per day. Nothing since then and I am very out of shape. I do own an AeroPilates machine, which is wonderful. I only wear the boot 4 hrs a day now and hopefully when I see the ortho on the 23, I will be done. I still have some pain, but was told it is a long recovery. I have just started to do some slow stretching on the pilates machine. Wish I could just swim, run & bike like when I was young, but those days are long gone. Back, Neck & Open rotator surgery has put a damper on "what" I can do. Can't wait to get walking again.

Wish I could just swim, run & bike like when I was young, but those days are long gone. Back, Neck & Open rotator surgery has put a damper on "what" I can do. Can't wait to get walking again.

Anything with the feet sucks! You don't realize how much you use them everyday!
I'm kind of in the same boat .. I used be a boxer and because of that I've had 6 operations in both arms (shoulders and elbows) in the last 5 years - all the fun sports are a no no to me now. Make sure to listen to your therapist before embarking on anything - that got me in trouble too.

So do you like your pilates machine? I don't have one and I was wondering if it makes a difference?

I love my AeroPilates, you can go on utube and see different clips. I bought it from QVC and it came with videos. It is gentle on the back in neck. I had broken my back and neck and had surgery, so it is great for that.

If you lived closer I would have you just play around on mine. lol

You truly understand "what" I am going through, always being athletic and then that rug was pulled, sometimes it is frustrating, but I am adjusting over the years.

What is up with feet lately? Six months ago I broke a bone in my foot and again recently I fractured another one! Fortunately I'm not exercising in P1 so I"m not missing much, but still... :) But, my feet are the least of my health woes... Just can't wear some of my cute boots. (Now that's a problem!)

Hope you both heal quickly and /or are happy with the exercise you're able to do with your restrictions/limitations...

Actually New Englander 2 of my other friends have been in boots for similar problems and my doctor said that it is common in our age woman (speaking for myself, I am 55) especially working on our feet for so many years. I was a research chemist so I would stand some days for 10 -15 hours on concrete for over 25 yrs. It is also common is nurses and teachers that stand most of the time. grrrr, I don't like getting older, but it does beat the alternative!

I do understand. I actually went through a 6 month depression when mine started. You don't realize how much exercise does for you until you can't do it anymore. Then you add the weight and body changes to it and it's not a good situation.

I'm going to peek at machine online and see if it's something I would like. Thanks for the info and I hope your feet feels better soon :)

Oh yuk! Adding insult to injury! Not fair! My aunt-in-law has MS and has had a very tough time lately .. can I ask which drug you're taking and is it working?

This is going to sound strange, but sometimes when I'm pi$$ed at my husband for something but I don't want to say anything yet, I'll tell him it when he's sleeping - for some reason I always feel better after that. Kind of passive aggressive of me but it works

She was taking Copaxon, not sure if she has changed but keep us posted if it's working for you. From what I can see of your hair - it does look really pretty... You wouldn't have to stay on it permanently right?

If it does happen - you can fun playing a red head one day, blonde the next, maybe pink or something funky for the weekends ...

Maggie - Another pound bites the dust! Way to go girl!!!

Fantastic progress! :carrot:My husband and I have been walkers for years. It's the only exercise that my coach allows me to do on phase 1. We get up a little early nearly everyday and walk the dog (and ourselves) for 30 minutes. I find it really helps center me and helps my mood. I'm pretty jiggly, too, which annoys the cr*p out of me but I can't do any weight training to deal with that until I get to phase 4.

I totally relate to what you're saying about body frame. My lowest adult weight was 129. I think I looked too thin at that weight and it was impossible to maintain. I'm going for 155 because at that weight, I'm comfortable, my size 8 clothes fit well, and I think I can maintain it. I hope you're having a good weekend!

New Englander,
Re hair loss, I believe there is a supplement, biotin, that might be helpful. My local Walgreen's has a version with 5,000 mcg in it and I know others on IP have used it to help resolve hair loss issues. Not sure how it would interact with your new MS drug, but wanted to mention it. It seems to be untested formally for hair loss.

I was losing my hair on IP and when I took a hiatus from IP last fall, it started growing back in. I started with biotin last spring after I noticed the hair loss and it seemed to slow up the loss (but again, unscientific, just my observation).
Biotin (from WebMD)

Biotin is a coenzyme and a B vitamin, also known as vitamin H. As a supplement, biotin is sometimes used for diabetes, brittle nails, and other conditions.
Why do people take biotin?

Biotin plays a key role in the body. It supports the health of the skin, nerves, digestive tract, metabolism, and cells. Biotin may also help to treat some types of nerve pathology, such as the peripheral neuropathy that can result from kidney failure or diabetes.
Biotin supplements have been studied as a treatment for a number of conditions. In people with type 2 diabetes, early research suggests that a combination of biotin and chromium might improve blood sugar. On its own, biotin might decrease insulin resistance and nerve symptoms related to type 2 diabetes. More research needs to be done. Some preliminary evidence suggests that biotin might help strengthen brittle nails. Other uses of biotin -- for conditions like cradle cap, hepatitis, hair loss, and depression -- are unsupported or untested.
However, most people don't need biotin supplements. We get biotin in foods naturally. Our bodies also recycle the biotin we've already used. Genuine biotin deficiency is quite rare.
Pregnant women sometimes have low levels of biotin, so some take biotin supplements. The benefits and risks aren't clear.

Thanks Chloe, I have heard of that before but never considered it. I have an upcoming apt with my neurologist and will pass it by him to see what his thoughts are. I also lost hair on IP when I first did P1 and it's about 3-4 inches long now (in the areas it's growing back). So, it's finally getting fully again...it's amazing how much our hair means to us...Just don't want to lose it again, but I also want to prevent 1. Losing my ability to walk and 2. losing my vision (two of my major issues with MS)...

Hey all-

I started IP back in July. I've since lost 26 lbs and have been lingering on an off the program for several months (read cheat/ phase 1/cheat/phase 1). I was trying to phase out properly before the holidays but it just didn't work out. Too many things going on a.nd I felt like I needed to really lose more. So I'm trying to get back on for a reboot so that I can actually phase out properly. I'm 4 lbs up and just seem to be nibbling on everything here and there. I was on plan most of the week, but now I'm just dreading it. I really want the four lbs I gained plus another 6 before phasing out. I'm just struggling to stay on phase one. All in all, I'm really happy with my success and my weight. I remind myself that I'm 22 lbs less than I was last year at this time, but it's still hard to get recommitted. Advice?

Good grief! I have been on "and off" ideal protein for 2 years now and have been reading these forums since then. There are soooooo few that phase out correctly and maintain:( mail is actually the only one I can think of that has been successful at this. Wonder if some people are out there maintaining and just quit coming to these boards because they don't need us anymore:p one thing we know for sure, when people are failing miserably, they quit coming here. Is a little depressing. Don't mean to be a bummer but geeeez......we really need to take Maile's advice and figure out how we are going to maintain. :dizzy: hope everyone is doing well and figuring it all out.

I completely understand the weight/size thing.....where I currently am..mid-160's I am somewhere between a loose 6 and my 8's fitting well. I am trying to get to a loose 6 and maybe a few 4's fitting. I will probably be in the 150's at that point. I carry my weight in my chest and so on top a medium or some smalls would be the goal. Hoping this is my last full long (4-5 week) reboot and that I can learn to stay in maintenance without gaining more than 2-3 pounds. Wow...I have been so strict and focused for over 3 years now...exhausting, but worth the results for sure.

Thanks HealthyAngie,

On the subject of Trying to Reboot--
I have been trying to reboot since October. I would only make it to dinner time about 30 (or maybe more like 60) or so different reboots/restarts, and then back to my old habits. I kept saying, well it's only day 1 so I might as well fulfull my craving now -- frozen yogurt, popcorn, ice cream, pretzels, the bread basket with butter and wine so my friends at dinner would be happy I was drinking and back to my funner self. Anyway, since October I tried to reboot/restart IP and never made it past three quarters of a day. I never majorly cheated, but a little of this and a little of that and I have steadily gained 2 pounds a month since August. The good news is that any other diet, I would have gained back the weight a LOT faster. I am happily reporting that I am starting day 7 of IP with great determination and success. I don't want to be in this same boat come April/May. The odd thing is I haven't lost any weight, and I feel great. The only other time I went through this I felt horrible, weak, and I lost more weight the first week. I was a slower loser, averaging 1-1.5 pounds/ week (thyroid issues, and less to lose) Hmmmm....Could it be taking longer this time to go into ketosis?

Explore- you may want to log your food into MyFitnessPal or LoseIt and check your fat and carb gram totals each day. I am also a slow looser and found that I have to keep both under 40 to make progress. For carbs I count total carbs minus fiber.

Hi TMG, Great job on the weight loss..not so great on the hair loss. I've done short reboots (2 weeks or less) and this time I needed to do more 'cause I got out of control. It worries me too. You should be able to lose those 8 lbs in a two week reboot...or just stick with P4 with no cheat days for until they come off. When I did my 2 week reboots it didn't affect my hair at all! :)

I go through periods of posting more regular. I am friends with all the crew from 2010 on Facebook...we started a weight loss group...most have put all or most of the weight back on.

I have had to stay very focused for 3 years to keep it off (only 2 years of maintenance).

I am going to try to check in every day...I am on day 13 of my going to lowest weight....treck

I hit back to my goal weight around Thanksgiving...maintained until Christmas and then took a few days off in a row.

Now lowest weight (went 7 below goal)

and then maybe another 5-6.

I was able to maintain perfectly for 7 months, so it's obvious the plan works, but then an explosion of events occurred from October to the new year, birthdays/anniversaries/celebrations and holidays.. I'll be better prepared (mentally) next year to take it all in and work it much better.

A women at my vets office did IP and also gained most of it back...I think it would be harder for me if I didn't have my husband. He helps me stay on track (for the most part). If I lived alone...Oh boy...I'd have a harder time! Or if I had to prepare meals for a family...I imagine that makes it hard too.

I am going to try to check in every day...I am on day 13 of my going to lowest weight....treck

I hit back to my goal weight around Thanksgiving...maintained until Christmas and then took a few days off in a row.

Now lowest weight (went 7 below goal)

and then maybe another 5-6.

Hey Darbs
Great to hear from you out there..you're an old familiar face for me. I'd love to stay in touch on facebook with the other "oldies" on your weightloss group! It's funny some of us wondering "where are they now" I was just wondering this morning where "woolberger" is these days. Funny how we get attached to seeing and hearing certain names along the way, isn't it? It was always comforting for me!

Well...glad we're all still kickin'...which ever way it's going. This is a tough road and requires pretty much constant vigilance, even when one has it down to a routine.

Have a great day everyone!

OK...WI this morning...131.9
Started my reboot at 135.
whew!!!!!
So...here's what's landed up happening, and I'm OK with a slow steady loss if that's what it's going to take.
I seem to be having P1/P2 days on this reboot. Not necessarily more carbs, but more real food. I'm on tons of supplements between 2 healers right now. I don't think my stomach could take all that stuff on a more restricted diet.
So...I'm making peace with this. I lost 1.5lbs since last WI. I'll take it!!!
Maybe the lesson I also need to be learning right now, is doing this within the new lifestyle of eating as let's say, a low carb lifestyle eating seminar :0) In doing so, that might just become my new normal.
Honestly, I might be ordering shakes and soups and bars forever as a way of staying on track and reducing calories as needed.

I'm looking at my re-boot at a gift and an opportunity for me to figure myself out even better than last time, so I can keep if off this time. One thing I know for sure, I need groups and accountability and community! That's my bottom line. I say this all the time...I am forever grateful for all of us!!!!!
Have a great day and could someone tell me how to post before and after pix? I'm getting sick of looking at my tree :0)

sunny - congratulations on your loss .. sounds like you have a realistic approach!

New England - kitty cats or dogs? Or both? I have 4 cats and a dog. I'm a major animal lover!

kabukidoo - They stopped selling the Ketostix at my pharmacy so I can't tell for sure but I don't think I've Ketosis yet and it's been almost 2 weeks. I am on antibiotics and was sick through the first week so don't know if that's the issue.

So I haven't weighed myself in 4 days and won't until my WI tomorrow at the clinic. I honestly don't think I've lost anything again. I'm done with my antibiotics tomorrow so I'm hoping that staying the track for 2 weeks of no loss will all come to a happy ending and I'll have a huge whoosh. I have really good control usually but I have to say, this has been HARD doing this with no loss. If my DH wasn't doing it with me, I probably would have caved this weekend!

What a FOGGY weekend in eastern PA! It was around 50 but looked like we were set in a horror film all weekend :D

Hey Sunny...you are one of the few still kicking around since 2010...it makes a difference..doesn't it. no worries about the gaining...it is what you do before you gain too much and you and I both always stop and correct ourselves. Our Facebook thread is dead dead dead (at least the older one), but I also broke out with a second group of women that I got to know during my initial time on maintenance....that thread is stronger, but still goes through weak periods.

"Our (as in everyone in the U.S.) habits tell us to avoid reality, the scale, and accountability. It can be difficult but worth staying on top of.

Thank you for the update. I don't mean to pry, but did Carla gain it back? She looked amazing in the pics she had posted. (I want to look like her.)

Wish they'd all come back and join us, we have so much to keep learning, I see them as our more worldly sisters.

Thank you for coming back, really appreciate having someone who's been through it all for a while now chiming in, providing advice. It's such uncharted water.

Honestly I do not know if she gained all of it back. She no longer posts at all in the weight loss group, but we share a love of dogs and she posts daily for her dog rescue efforts. I knew at one point she had gained about half of it back.

So many people gain the weight back even after just good eating and exercise. I have found that this website, stepping on the scale, and talking about it have helped me. I found the hardest time at about 7-8 months in maintenance.

Just wondering if others were having trouble getting back into Ketosis? It used to take me 2.5 days and last week it was well over 4 days. Why do you think it is taking longer since I've been off thru the holidays? Anybody else experiencing this?

Ketosis is weird. I went into ketosis in October to get back to goal weight (and I did)...I was in by the middle of day 2. I even had a cheat night around week 5 and I didn't come out.

but this time...it took 5-6 days to get into ketosis...that is my longest time ever.

I have to dogs. The loves of my life (second to my DH of course). ;) We don't have any kids and our pups are treated like children...they act like them too! <3 'em so much! They'll be 10 in February and are litter mates (Chocolate labs). I'll rescue next time...

It's sunny and beautiful here in CT. I have the windows open and the fresh air is great. It's the perfect "Spring" cleaning day! A good way to get a head start... :)

We were supposed to have your weather yesterday but it was just so foggy!!!

Even with a child, my animals have always been like children. The dogs more than the cats - cats are very independent!!

I've been rescueing for about 20 years. I swear rescue dogs truly get the point they were given a second chance. The only issue was always trying to help them get rid of "baggage" from years of abuse or abandonment.

My Candy (my last name is Barr :) ) is the first pup I've had in 25 years. She was rescued with her litter from the Susquehanna river. One pup didn't make it :( and Candy was the only girl and oh so tiny! I got all the pups homes and kept her ... she's my sweetheart! She's pure "All American" a little lab, a little German Shorthair, little Boxer, little Pit Bull, a little this and that. All her brothers are so different looking! It was like an assorted box of chocolates when they starting growing :D

All my kitties are strays picked up here and there. One is 1/2 Pennsylvania Lynx. Oreo, Cookie, Double Stuff, Cream recently passed :( and Jingles.

Sorry about your recently passed kitty. I can't even imagine when ours leave us... Great story about the pups (except the one who didn't make it...) They sound adorable! Love the name. That's great! We named our Remi (for Remington Arms and Georgia for the state my dh's father lived in before passing when he was 42). Remi also goes by Remino. Remi NO! he's a little bad boy (cute as heck) and Georgia is a complete angel. They couldn't be more opposite. Love 'em!

I have started "Day one" a few times since Christmas, each week I'm starting over so I thought I better get back on this website!

My dh and I went away to an all inclusive Dec 6 which merged into many dinners, christmas holidays, new years, etc. now I finally stepped back on the scale and to my dismay have gained 19lbs!!!

It is funny how we ignore the symptoms such as avoiding the scale, not wearing the tight pants, eating quickly, etc. if only I payed attention to the slight changes I wouldn't be in the position :(

I haven't changed my ticker as I aim to get back to where I was, looking for any motivation you can provide

Hi Thin, Sounds like we're all in the same boat...Gotta admit it was fun getting here...Now the "Work" begins. You can and will do it! Just think 19 isn't as bad at 20? Right!?!?! :dizzy:

I was 30 over and lost 10.8 since the beginning of the new year...this site is a huge help! Plus I finally tried on my jeans and boy they were so tight! Like you I avoided them and was wearing my leggings all holiday season. Those pants are so forgiving (30 pounds forgiving)!

You can do it and you will!

Keep going and keep us updated on how you're doing!

Hi Thin - it does sound like you at least had a lot of fun! I just booked me and my husband for a few day getaway - nothing fancy but I'm looking forward to it. Picked beginning of March so I can be phasing off.

I agree with Leggings New Englander - too forgiving :) but oh so comfortable!!!

I ditched all my 8's just so I keep myself in check. I do have a few "looser" pants that will get me by though! And of course, the leggings :D

I just changed my ticker this morning .... I didn't reset my current weight though - just couldn't! It's only about 5 lbs above, but I still couldn't do it!

ok so right now I totally feel like a failure and this was the only place I felt free enough to come and scream about it. I did my re boot in sept, all was fine then family illness came and I gained it back and went up to 133. as of Jan first I went back on and well up till last friday I was doing brilliantly. why do I feel like a failure now?? because I just keep sabotaging myself! friday night I cheated, sat morning I said its a new day! sat night I cheated, sunday I said its a new day; sunday night went really bad, this morning I said its a new day and NOW: just had a fiber one bar plus a mini milky way candy!! I honestly think I need therapy! on Friday I was around 128 and right now I have no idea what damage I have done and just want to crawl under my desk and weep (not literally cry)

OK...WI this morning...131.9

Sunny: I agree about the lifestyle comment. I order the HealthSmart protein cocoa mixes and use them in my coffee every morning - even while maintaining. They really fill me up in the morning and I find them delicious.
I also really need the sense of community I get from you all. I've decided to reboot without the clinic (1 hour away, and I felt like a number only... when I hit goal they told me to have a nice life, see ya) So I'm counting on this forum more than I can say.

I have started "Day one" a few times since Christmas, each week I'm starting over so I thought I better get back on this website!

Thin4me: I could have written this post myself! I've been attempting to reboot since early October, when I was just 4 lbs over goal, but kept putting it off until after Christmas - and avoiding the scale, and noticing my pants were getting snug, then when I did step on the scale it had jumped to + 15 !!! OMG! I need to be here! When I get quiet is when I need a shout out - I lurk nearly every day, but don't always post. Let's make this happen together!

ok so right now I totally feel like a failure and this was the only place I felt free enough to come and scream about it. You are most certainly NOT a failure! If anything, you are to be admired for catching yourself before ballooning up 15 or 20 or 30lbs! It's so tempting to "sabotage" yourself, to use your words - ketosis doesn't seem to keep me from craving this time, like it did my first time around, so just keep coming here and we'll pull you out from under that desk!

Good morning ladies...

Well...one more day and then I get to see where I am at. I know that I was at my original goal weight just before Christmas...but I am looking for my lowest weight....about 7 below goal.

I really want to wear a size 6...all my 8's fit great and that is awesome...considering I started this in an 18 and was an 18 most my adult life.

I made a pact with my husband that I would be perfect for two weeks before I stepped on the scale....it has been hard...I have scale addiction...he wanted me to learn to trust the process and not the scale.

Today wearing some of my smaller pants (they are a junior 7)

Good morning everyone, Day 15...My trip is in 7 weeks and I will reach my goal. It feels good to have those nasty first dozen pounds nearly gone...(Wine-weight...) UGH!

Can't wait to get back to true maintenance and stay there long term. On my cheat day I would buy every forbidden food that I couldn't have all week and eat as much of it...then there would be left overs...sometimes (um, most of the time) I would nibble on them the next day (NOT GOOD). So, I'm going to learn a new and healthier way to have my cheat/fun day.

The dr at my clinic would have a calzone on his cheat day. My former coach would eat a slice of cake (carrot, her fav) with each meal on her cheat day. Those cheats are way less than what I was doing...Can't wait to jump back into P4. I miss my salad at lunch with the two fats...(usually avocado and a cheese)...oh yum!!! ;)

Keep going everyone!!!

Good morning all...

I've fallen behind on all of these posts...its been pretty hectic here. I need to read thru them so that you can all inspire me today! :)

I do have some bad news...I've been naughty the last 2 days! I think I reached my goal on Saturday...weighing in at 111.8 lbs. At my daughter's tournament on Saturday, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and thought that I needed to stop losing! On Sunday...had my niece's birthday party & more tournaments & ate a lot of food. Yesterday did a phase 1 day until after my evening lecture - was starving & ate a lot a food again. I weighed in this morning at 120.6. So I'm restarting my reboot, for the last time, today. I definately am looking forward to a phase 1 day because I am soo full! :)

What worries me is that I've read that people are regaining all of their weight (heck...look at me!) This makies me wonder...is this truly our last diet?? Well, it is mine. I have to mentally address the road blocks that I face and reevaluate my meaning of a cheat meal...and learn how to do it properly. Any advice?? :?:

I've set some goals for myself...(1.) 20 days of phase 1 (or until I get to goal); (2.) 5 days of phase 2...to phase off properly; (3.) begin my workouts by February 10th...which means getting to phase 3 just before then.

Thanks for your support! You all mean more to me that you realize!

Hey Darbs - I'm about 1 hour south of Wilkes-Barre and have visied Mohegan a TON of times! There is also Mt. Airy about 40 minutes slightly south-east of that and I like that one a little better. I seem to be luckier there and you can get comped rooms easier too. The Pocono area was my stomping ground for about 8 years while I was in college.

Do you watch Revenge? I just watched last season's final episodes where the dog Sammy passed away - I bawled like a baby :(

Determinedat47 - way to go!!! Looks like just a couple more weeks and BAM! You're there :)

pitakitten - Yes, every day is a new day. By chance are you extremely hungry come the evening? Maybe you can switch your foods around a little. I find that if I eat everything too early, by the evening I'm starving and have very little resolve ... You only have a little to go, you can do this!!

Darbs - Where's Foxwood? My husband is the one with scale addition since he started with me this time. He'll weigh himself 3 times a day! I got over my addition many years ago but he helped me fall back into the bad habit. Till I got ticked that he was losing and I wasn't so I haven't looked at the D@mn thing in 5 days!

fitgirl - it has to be very hard losing those last few pounds at a low weight! I was concerned the first time I phased off about the cheat days, etc. I was off for 3 months and I think I only did 2 cheat days that whole time. My coach says it's more mental but sometimes the body can use that "boost." Don't worry - you'll get it figured out and maintain just fine! We're here for you if you need the help!

New Englander - Woot! Woot! 1 week away - how exciting! Knew you would hit that goal! I LOVE Avocado! AND Cheese!! Those are very healthy too!

I have my WI today so we'll see if I've at least stabilized. Today is also my last day on antibiotics so I can resume my supplements and hopefully lose this water weight. Hoping for a major whoosh come next weeks WI. I don't think I'll see it today and I've come to terms with that ...

Yeah, 6 weeks isn't bad! I was hoping to be done by Valentine's Day...Not only for dinner but I also am going to a free showing of a local tv show...and they may give out sweets to the audience members... ;)

I haven't been to Mt. Airy (but have seen the billboards). We stay at the Woodlands when we go to Mohegan Sun. I have not been to Mohegan Sun Pocono in about a year. I did go to the sands in Bethlehem a few times last summer.

Foxwoods is the biggest casino in the World...it is CT...near the coast (Mystic area).

I just got back from Vegas...love it there...just booked our next flight out for the end of June.

I do watch Revenge...I hated when Sammy died (that is the scene in front of the fire right?). Hubby and I were crying too...we love our girls so much.

I have also done wine tours in your area...with a tour group...so much fun.

Well I'm back for day two and made it through so far :) Course it is the weekend that I blow it, but hopefully I can turn to this website to encourage me to continue this time.

I tried to "multi-quote" several people who gave me support yesterday but I apologize, guess I've been away from this site too long that I forgot how that is done.

My issue is like many others, when I cheat I go overboard. This time I really have to make note of what works and not "avoid" it
- Wear a specific pair of tight jeans once per week and when they feel tighter get back on track.
- Don't avoid the scale, weekly weigh ins keep me accountable and correcting a small increase it a lot easier.
-It is not necessary to eat all the crap in the house before getting back on track

Have a great day everyone!
I'm looking forward to my new order from proteinwell as they have plenty of items on sale and I'm excited to try some new foods

Ooh! I'm going to have to try Foxwood :D

Last time I was in Vegas I was pregnant so that put a damper on it for me. I should try it again though - I would imagine you can get pretty good deals this time of year!

Yes, that was the scene when Emily kissed Jack in front of the fire place and that nosey b!tch saw them and tattled. It was sooooo sad!

Believe it or not, I haven't done wine tours in my area although there are a lot of cool wineries around. I'm an absolute snoot when it comes to wine. Me and the girls almost made it one in a limo (we were going to visit 3 in 1 day) but it ended up storming and we cancelled ... maybe I'll revisit the idea this summer :)

OK - so I just had my WI. Last week I was 152.8 and this week 148.8 so down 4 pounds (but up 3 that first week!). I'll take it!! Even though it's only a legitimate 1 lb loss. Would have liked more but hopefully this week coming up I will really see some numbers! Whoosh Whoosh Woosh!!!

The good thing is - my stats are now correct cause I never changed the current :D

Also just signed up for a weekly fitness yoga class with some of the "book" club girls - should be fun!

Congrats on a great WI and signing up for Yoga. I've just started getting back into some kind of movement and waking my body up again.
For me week 2 is when stuff really starts happening. You're done with the initial water/glycogen weight loss and the shifting around, and then you really start digging back into the fat reserves. That's exactly where I'm at today...I'm just getting that, OK, here we go kinda feelin'
Let's keep it up...we'll get there!

We were in Vegas for New Year's weekend, no deals, but our casino host put us up for free...yippppeee!

Season 2, changes alot.

My vision on wine....is that there is nothing wrong with buying and supporting local...and it is fun....that tour group near you takes you to some fun wineries.

I have visited Napa and Sonoma, PA wine country, Finger Lakes of NY, CT wine country, Texas wine country, a VT winery or two, give them a try...it feels good supporting your local economy

When I choose my wine, I like Italian Chiantis and Spanish tempirranos or a strong oak barrel california chardonney I also love Champagne or sometimes sparkling wine (Prosecco).

Wow Ipeeps...I'm really struggling here.

I think that I tend to overeat because I haven't had things in a few months, and I want to taste it all. Some of it doesn't even taste good...but I feel as though I must finish it.

I reached out to my coach today, after eating a substantial lunch & eating the remains of some Halloween candy. After telling me that I'm a very driven person (a few times), she told me that I must learn to forgive myself & enjoy life. Hmmm....I know she's right. I asked her about any potential damage I'm causing...with the whole pancreas resetting thing...and she said that I'll be fine; the last 3 days should come off once I get back on phase 1. So here's to my restart!

Sorry to be such a debbie downer....I PROMISE that I won't let you all down again (nor myself again for that matter)! Thanks for listening & understanding!

Wow...I have missed soooo many postings!

Maggie - Congratulations on your 10 lb loss!!! You'll be at goal before you know it! :)

Determined - way to stick with it...Day 14 for you...AWESOME!! Way to go!!!

Sunnymae - Congrats on your loss! I agree with you about the low carb lifestyle. I am also going to view this re-boot as a learning oppurtunity...ie. phasing off correctly & managing those cheat days (I will most likely skip the cheat days for a while in maintenance). The accountability here helps me too!!

Pitakitten - You are not a failure!! Remember that most successes come from those who learn from their failures (mistakes). I've done the EXACT same thing these last three days. Now that all parties & christmas gatherings are officially done for me (as of this past Sunday)...I have some serious time to work on my issues & to learn from them. You will too!! We're just a success in progress! :)

Healthyangie - Thanks so much for your support today...I really needed it. Thanks for being there! I'm glad to hear that you'll be off the antibiotics...hopefully you'll see that whoosh soon!! :)

Darbs - its great to see you back! I've read your posts back when I was doing my original phase 1 a few months ago. Like others have said, you are an inspiration to those on this thread. It's so good to know that mainentance is possible. It looks like you have found what works for you!

I'm going to go to P3 next week and I was wondering if you gain inches at the time that you gain the 3lbs or so when you first go back to eating carbs?

(I posted in the Maintainers thread but it's pretty quiet there these days. Lizzy said she didn't gain lbs or inches. I'm sure I won't be so fortunate!)

Congrats on phase 3!!!

I gained 1.5 lbs within 2 days of starting phase 3. However, I did not gain in inches and my clothes fit as they did in phase 2. Remember that your weight may fluctuate a little at 1st...esp. If you start to workout out more.

Good luck to you...and enjoy those yummy breakfasts!
