I've been reading the book, but haven't yet fully committed to trying it. I don't eat meat, so I don't know how well it would work for me.

I did the 17 day diet, but didn't complete the WHOLE diet. I stuck with it for 17 days, and then fell off of it. I do have the book but I still found it very restrictive and (TMI here) it really, really backed me up. Despite drinking 3 L of water a day, with all that fiber from the vegetables you eat, I was unable to "go" for almost a week. It wasn't until I backed off and added in fat and backed off the veggies that made it easier. I also added in prune juice, though that didn't help much.

It's not a bad diet, it just wasn't really for me.

Just be mindful of the potential constipation issues and seriously try to drink TONS of water.

I'm re-starting tomorrow! Last summer my Fiance' and I did this diet and had great results! He lost about 18lbs and I lost a around 11 lbs which doesn't seem like a lot but I lost a ton of inches! We lasted about a month then fell off the wagon and never got back on. I've considered the ideal protein diet but it's waaaay too restrictive for me so I'm going back to the 17 day diet and following those guidelines.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone was still doing the 17 day diet. I started it Monday, 9/17/12, and so far I have lost 5.6 pounds. I am loving it. I know it's restrictive, but all diets are in one way or another. I will admit that I'm not following it to the tee, and my biggest problem is I hate raw veggies. I know that should be a no brainer, but I just can't help it. I eat canned veggies and I also eat 3 snacks and add cheese to a couple of them. I haven't had any bathroom issues like Rainbow girl, as a matter of fact, I have found just the opposite to be true. I feel lighter and haven't felt bloated or swollen at all. Today is day 5 and I have read on other sites where day 5 is usually the day you feel the most tired and weak, but so far that hasn't happened to me. I love the feeling of control I have over the foods I'm eating and I love seeing almost a pound a day fall off of me. I would love to hear from anyone else that may be doing this diet already or about to start it. Thanks for readint his.

I did the 17 day diet for 5 months and lost 35 lbs. I didn't even follow it exactly. After a break for a busy family time, I am starting again on Monday. I have never ever ever lost weight before and I was 70 pounds overweight. This is the only eating plan that has ever worked for me. I'm afraid it has fallen of the weight loss radar which is a shame because like I said it worked for me. I'm game to come to this forum to chat about the trial and tribulations. :)

Hi everyone, I just started the 17day diet (Day 1 today!!) and looking for advice and tips! I am looking for the support to stay with this and be able to support others and bounce back and forth ideas and recipes. Last yr I did Atkins and it worked well but was definately not a lifestyle chnage and i gained almost it all back. i hated not having fruits and yogurt and that is what interested me in the 17DD. I did have a question on excercise as the book noted 17 min of walking 2x a day. I read somehwere you shouldn't over exert yourself with excercise on this diet in stage 1 due to low calories. Is this true? I want to follow it correctly and see results and I had planned on going to the gym 5x a week and most classes are strenuous so would be a lot more than a brisk 17min walk. I need to lose 26lbs and will do ANYTHING to get there!! I get so mad at myself for putting this weight on and really need support to make this happen. Thank you to everyone and i wish you all the best!

Hi, all! Sorry I hadn't checked back on this thread. I've just finished Cycle 1. I had a couple of cheats and lost 9 lbs. It is hard the first few days, but you'll definitely see results if you stick with it.

Any other people out there doing the 17 Day Diet? Today is day 14 and down 10lbs! Very excited and love this diet so far!! :)

good morning! I finished cycle one a couple of days ago and feel good so far in cycle 2, I have lost almost 14 pounds since 1/1/13, but I know a lot of why I feel better is no more diet sodas! I do have an occasional unsweetened iced tea or half a cup of coffee a couple days a week, but I have cut out pretty much anything else artificial in my diet, all of the whole fresh foods are what is most appealing to me. I hope you all are doing as well too. I have a cruise in 2 weeks, so I feel like I'm going to do well until then for sure, but I am so afraid to get too far off track on my trip.
