How are you flavoring your homemade soda for IP? I've been experimenting but haven't found too many "perfect" things...

Thanks!!!

I just bought a SoadStream brand soda stream at Costco today. It has 12 sample flavors and I think 3 bottles. It is on sale right now for $79.99. No idea if this is a good deal (or if the deal exists where you are) but thought I'd mention it.

Here's the one that I bought: http://www.sodastreamusa.com/Dynamo-...chins-C62.aspx

I've owned my Soda Stream for almost 4 years (got it just before it became big in the US) - My favorites are the Diet Cranberry-Raspberry, the Diet Pink Grapefruit, the Diet Mixed Berry Tea and the Diet Peach Iced Tea. All of their diet flavors are sweetened with Splenda so they're fine for IP.

Because you are making the soda fresh, Soda Stream is great for IP because there are NO added phosphates (what they use to keep commercial soda from going stale) or large amounts of sodium. The carbonation you add to the water does not increase the pH enough to make a difference.

I have squirted Mio in my homemade soda and also added vanilla or strawberry EAS RTD for creamy Italian soda...yum!

I really haven't found any flavors put out by Sodastream that I really like. They all taste too sweet and artifical to me. Before IP, I would put about 1/5 to 1/4 cup of pomegranate or cranberry juice in to flavor the bottle. Since IP, I use about 1/2 crystal light lemonade or pink lemonade per bottle. I've also tried other flavors of crystal light and also MIO, but the lemonades are my favorite. I prefer only a bit of flavor...more like I'm drinking slightly flavored sparkling water instead of a stronger soda flavor.

edited to add: when I say 1/2 crystal light, I mean the single serving sizes that are meant for 16 oz water bottles.

I use mine daily, but some others here have told me they only had a glass occasionally as a treat in Phase 1. I am a slow loser, with NO cheating. But I have tried not drinking carbonated water for a few weeks and not using crystal light for a few weeks and I saw no difference. Others who use it have told me just don't overuse it. Drink some plain water every day.

You can use it - like I said the carbonation doesn't change the pH of the water enough to make a noticeable difference, and because you make it fresh there are no preservatives or stabilizers like phosphorous and large amounts of sodium.

If you use the diet flavorings, just count them as "extras" just like Crystal Light/Mio, Walden Farms, Sweeteners, etc. and watch the serving sizes (I know how easy it is to drink a whole bottle at once)!
