Default Another quick question

On the paper for foods it says fat free ham. So I bought 98% fat free gluten free. Is 98% as close to fat free ham I will get to? If so I should be ok?
Thanks for all the help!

I would eat it. Its hard to get 100% fat free ham!!! just cut out any obviously fatty spots and also if it is glazed, cut that out too. the hamburger I get is 93% fat free and is fine on the program

That's what I figured. I was on 97% lean ground beef and I was fine. I just wanted to make sure before I dove in on it

That's about as close to fat free as you are going to get! Just keep an eye on the sugar content, ham is usually cured with sugar so double check they aren't over-compensating for the missing fat with a ton of sugar carbs.

I love ham. I haven't searched for this food yet since being on IP. Is there a brand name on the ham you found? I know the grocery stores may not be the same in your area and mine, but would you also share the grocery store you purchased it at and what area of the store you found it: ie the processed meats like bacon, sausage, etc or the real meat area.

Thanks, I appreciate your help! Jen

I didn't see nutritional info on an official company website on a quick search, but on the diet tracking websites they all seem to list the ham at about 3-5g carbs per serving. The only thing that concerns me is that they also seem to show a serving size as providing only 9g protein. If you were going to use this as your dinner protein, you'd have to eat FOUR servings to start to come close to the correct amount of protein needed (making the carb count way too high).

Does someone have this brand handy and can check the actual label to see if this is correct?

i use cumberland gap ham steaks or chunks, usually 6 ounces...and have 2 ounces of protein at lunch

i think my biggest issue with ham, is the sodium content.

I will have some 98% fat free ham occasionally, but with the high sodium content, not often. And usually have only 4 oz or so with 2 eggs. Also, be sure not to have ham within a couple of days of WI as the high sodium will make you retain water and increase your weight for a day or 2. (Found this out the hard way once
